I think… I think what you’re asking (I could be wrong) is if I think Tim’s next hero identity should be a bird? And man if that is what you’re asking your timing is impeccable because I just did a whole twitter thread tangentially related to that subject the other day.

I will copy & paste what I said (except… adding in italics where I had indicated them on twitter bc that’s a thing tumblr formatting actually supports)

Controversial take maybe but the vast majority of ideas I see for Tim’s next identity never click for me. Many feel like they’re just chosen bc ‘Bird’ and/or ‘The Color Red’ which… feels like it’s not actually a progression - just a substitute for ‘Robin’ and/or ‘Red Robin’

Like… it often feels like an approach of “He’s moving on from Robin? Okay he’ll be Robin 2: A Different But Similarly Colored Bird” which differs greatly from what I’d want, which is “He’s moving on from Robin? Okay time to reinvent himself now as a young adult”

When Tim moves on I think it should be to something with a connection to his character and/or influential relationships (like how Nightwing highlights Dick & Clark’s relationship & where he was at that point in life) + it should be a change not… almost the same thing as now.

Because like… after Sum of Our Parts, where Tim had that whole thing about ‘holding too tight to a version of yourself you think you have to fit’ and realizing he doesn’t need to do that… Going into something basically the same as Robin just feels like a wasted opportunity.

I don’t necessarily have a specific suggestion myself at this exact moment, I’ve put time into it but still never found something I’m satisfied with, but I just feel like too many people limit themselves with color/motif (red + bird)

And ALSO I’m not trying to say there aren’t ways that you could do something meaningful and different enough from Robin while sticking within that color/motif, that feels possible! I just also feel like there’s more worth exploring beyond that too, and I rarely see it 🤷‍♂️

SO yeah, in conclusion: I’m not particularly attached to the idea of his next identity being a bird. It could be a bird with the right justification, but I think it should be something picked based on a deeper meaning than just… ‘Okay instead of Robin he’ll just be this OTHER bird now’
