i guess in the nicest way possible: look…………….. i am not saying u Have to ship and ONLY ship ranma with akane and vice versa. but i think it’s a huge disservice to the series to not acknowledge why thats the canonical pairing even if its not personally your thing. you know. considering the entire story is about those two. i think overlooking that and treating it like any other anime where the love interest is secondary (if not tertiary) to the story is what leads to akane being largely treated like shit in fanon even if it’s unintentional

man i rlly wanna swing at a hornets nest w my ranma opinions………… its so hard 😭 i feel like ppl constantly miss major points the story is trying to make…

#it never sits right when people say the series should have ended in a polycule #or ranma should have been with *insert whoever op thinks is hottest*#no. it shouldnt have. that was not the intention of the story. ranma and akane being together was a very deliberate choice that affects #absolutely everything about the story #you can make AUs i dont care but it is wild to say the CANON STORY should have ended w a different pairing… like i’m convinced you don’t #actually understand anything about ranma as a person #what i said to a friend yesterday is no one cares if you ship naruto and sasuke bc their love interests arent what the story hinges on #but this is like shipping jack from titanic with rose’s fiance #and i KNOW ppl will read that and go ooh that sounds fun i wanna write that now 🤗#completely unaware or uncaring of the huge issue of ppl sidelining female characters for the sake of Making It Gayer #…..as if akane tendo isnt canonically bisexual. lmfao.#ranma and akane were written specifically to fit together. to both navigate being lgbt teens in denial. to both desperately want a friend.#baffling ppl will look at 38 volumes of their carefully crafted relationship then write a fic thats like and then ranma left her for ryoga #‘he realized he just sees her as a sister!!’ or ‘they all three got together!!’ to try to be kind to akane while still sidelining her
