There's this lovely older fellow I work with, he's in his late 30s I think. Anyway, he always makes me a cup of tea when I'm on till or doing online orders (he makes one for everyone I think). He's really sweet and always calls me treacle.

I had no idea what it meant and just didn't question it, bcz hey! He probably ain't calling me bitch in another language, so why question it? But he called me it again today and I was curious.

His thoughts turn to static as he throws himself off the floor, bracing himself against the wall as his knees buckle and he sways, already feeling unused to being on his feet. Although the substances running through his body probably aren’t helping his coordination.

He quickly yanks at the lock, freeing the door, and swings it open, ready to begin screaming at James, to put him in his place, but the words just don't come out. His thoughts halt instantly, accompanied only by the sound of the squeaking hinge, and he feels all of the cogs in his brain slow, whirring to an uncomfortably silent stop. James was standing closer to the stall than he thought. 

Their noses are barely two inches apart and Regulus can feel his warm breath as it brushes against his face, he wrinkles his nose in response, scrunching his eyebrows slightly as he’s confronted with the bright hazel eyes boring into him.

“Dazai,” Kunikida whispers, cupping his cheek, “don’t dwell on the things you’ve done. You’ve made efforts to get better, and I love you nonetheless.” He leans in, offering Dazai a gentle kiss, which Dazai does his best to reciprocate around the ache in the back of his throat. He holds onto Kunikida’s wrist with one hand, the physical contact like a lifeline.

When the kiss breaks, Dazai immediately leans forward and buries his face in Kunikida’s shoulder. It’s dark in the room, but he doesn’t think he can bear to be seen like this.

Kunikida doesn’t say anything. He just holds him, one arm wrapped securely around his torso and the other idly playing with his hair. It might be enough to lull Dazai back to sleep, if not for the sound of the door to the apartment opening.

Dazai perks up on instinct, then glares at Kunikida when he chuckles. As if his heart rate didn’t spike too. Hypocrite.

“Is that a slug I hear?” Dazai calls out in a sing-songy voice, loud enough that he knows Chuuya can hear him.

He gets incoherent grumbling in response, which earns a fond smile from Kunikida.

Moments later, the bedroom door is being flung open and there stands Chuuya, still in their work clothes, though their gloves have been discarded. “The hell are you two doing up? It’s past midnight.”

“Well, I wanted to scare you when you got back. I was thinking maybe dumping a bucket of water on your head! But then Kunikida-kun caught me and has been lecturing me for the past three hours…” Dazai’s voice trails off when he realizes neither Chuuya nor Kunikida are listening to him. Instead, they’re staring at each other, seemingly having their own silent conversation. “Hey! This story is important!”

Chuuya laughs lightly. They cross over to the bed, leaning forward to kiss Dazai’s cheek. “Sure it is. You can tell me all about the elaborate lie you’re crafting on the spot after I change, alright?”

“It’s not a lie!” Dazai exclaims, but Chuuya has already turned their back to him. He crosses his arm and pouts until Kunikida kisses the side of his head. He supposes that’s enough to console him, and so he happily leans back into Kunikida and admires Chuuya until they flip him off and duck into the bathroom to change.
