hsr gameplay paths. they mean something.
"oh but the gameplay paths dont mean anything its only the lore paths" the game literally shows us what the gameplay paths are.
the difference between "gameplay" and "lore" paths is mostly due to an inconsistency between paths that are actively being walked on (ie. pathstriders) versus the paths that the characters use in game. take for instance, fu xuan, a character who is a pathstrider on the hunt path by way of her being a high ranking member in the luofu, but having a preservation path in game. or even jing yuan, who is an erudition character, yet would also be considered a hunt pathstrider with the luofu.
this... isn't a mistake. it's intentional. the game shows us this. think, every time trailblazer shifts their path around. destruction? shows us nanook. preservation? qlipoth. harmony? xipe. this pattern is most likely going to continue. so what do these cutscenes have to do with the playable paths? well, trailblazer shifts their path every time one happens. this creates a clear connection in my mind: gameplay paths are distinctly connected to the aeon who has acknowledged the character in question, but has little to do with the path they actually stride on. (i think this doesnt work 100% the same for emanators, however, given that they're explicitly given stuff from the aeon in question. acheron matches nihility, and likely when herta is given a non-doll form, she will still be erudition. phantilya... i dont think matters to this discussion, but its likely if she was playable, she'd be destruction)
another huge reason why i believe this is because some characters follow paths where they are physically unable to be acknowledged by their aeon. argenti follows the beauty, an aeon who is deceased. same with all of the trailblazers, who follow akivili, who we're told again and again is dead. i have theories why fuli and aha don't acknowledge anyone either- fuli is the remembrance. they're always there. but more importantly, fuli is always watching. its likely they take a hands off approach. as for aha, i imagine regular followers don't interest them- there's that anecdote about the worm, for instance. aha is here for a good time, and very distinctly, an interesting time, which we can see exemplified in the masked fools. (this is specific for alive aeons, by the way, i don't think dead aeons can acknowledge anyone if they tried, ena aside. the order is distinctly a revival/recreation using sunday as a seed; not to mention ena is something mentioned to have been absorbed by xipe. it's possible their essence was still left over. regardless, i don't think sunday would be counted as an "emanator of the order", especially since the plan didn't work)
additional theory? trailblaze pathstriders are the most likely to switch paths. we already have 3/5 currently playable trailblaze characters with more than one path: trailblazer themself with destruction/preservation/harmony, dan heng having both hunt and destruction, and march 7th going from preservation to hunt. i don't think this is a mistake, as trailblazers canonically move across the universe with the intention of helping as many worlds as possible. my working theory is that the trailblaze path is the most likely to be acknowledged by more than one aeon. if the pattern continues, and we see welt or himeko get new paths in the future, i wouldn't be surprised by it; likely dan heng and ESPECIALLY march will be getting additional units, and trailblazer is a given, but any trailblaze character getting a new one is not something i think is out of the question: simply, with the flexibility of the path, in my mind, more aeons are willing to look at them.

Though if she’s writing something in a hurry, she tends to forego neatness and just scribble. ✗ Intellectual Information ✗ Intelligence Level › Saerina is highly intelligent. She has many tutors in the Volturi castle. However, since she has never left the castle, she may be a little naive when it comes to things like modern technology and modern slang. Speech Mannerisms › She tends to slow her speech down when she is talking to someone that she believes to be stupid; which she believes that a lot of people are, actually. ✗ Mental State ✗ Mental Illnesses/Disorders › She has AntiSocial Personality Disorder — Saerina is a sociopath. She lacks empathy for all but a select few people, is highly manipulative and has zero remorse for anything that she does; it doesn’t matter to her if she hurts someone so long as a) it doesn’t affect her or b) it doesn’t affect someone that she loves. ✗ Apparel ✗ Clothing-Style › She usually wears dresses and tries to make herself seem like an innocent child, easier to trick people that way. But I’m no ordinary princess.” Reason for this › It shows her narcissism and how she believes herself to be better than other people. ✗ Backstory ✗ Upon seeing Renesmee Cullen, Aro became obsessed with the idea of the Volturi having their own hybrid. After years research into the lore of human-vampire hybrids, Aro decided to create one for himself, wanting another jewel in his collection. Selecting a human female from the many that he had working for him in Volterra, Aro impregnated her. As with all hybrid pregnancies, the time of gestation was a lot faster than that of a normal baby. Aro also learned that he could use his tactile telepathy to communicate with his daughter in utero. Her intelligence and maturity delighted him. Within a month of the pregnancy, Saerina ripped her way free of her mother, effectively killing her. This didn’t matter, though, as Aro had no intention of keeping the human around after she had served her purpose and had every intention of killing her anyway. Saerina grew up in Volterra alongside the rest of the Volturi. Due to her birth mother’s death, Aro’s mate Sulpicia has taken Saerina in as her daughter. She is considered to be of high ranking within the vampire world, and is a princess due to her father’s kingly status. She has never left Volterra, and is incredibly loyal to her family and her status. ✗ Personality ✗ Princess Saerina is a sociopath. She has very limited empathy for those around her. She lacks remorse for her actions, and will always justify her actions by placing the blame on somebody else. For instance, she will willingly torture a criminal and justify the pain that she caused by saying that it was deserved. She also has a very grandiose sense of self and will often use her royal title to bully her way into getting what she wants. Really, she’s got a strong case of “Spoiled Brat Syndrome.” Despite these negative traits, however, Saerina /does/ feel some level of compassion and emotions. She has a close relationship to her father, Aro, and to her mother, Sulpicia. She also has strong bond with her uncle, Caius, as the two share a sadistic streak. Saerina is incredibly loyal to those that she cares for, even if those people are few and far between. Because she is still so young, Saerina also has a very childlike personality. She can be playful and innocent, as well as twisted and sadistic. ✗ Psychic Abilities ✗ Saerina possess the gift of projected thermography, also known as thoughtography, or spirit photography. She can project or burn images from her mind onto surfaces. She can also project these images into the minds of other vampires or humans, often causing them to go insane. Saerina can extend her gift across multiple people. Those who fall victim to her power are unable to see or hear anything else whilst she has them under her control. They will only see what she wishes for them to see. Caius often allows Saerina to use her ability to punish rule-breaking vampires, something that she enjoys quite a lot. (Vampires with strong mental shields can withstand Saerina’s gift, and this annoys her to no end.) ✗ Weaknesses ✗ Saerina is not a full-vampire, and thus does have some weaknesses. She can be harmed easier and is highly protected by Volturi guard. Her power can be blocked if a vampire has a mental shield, or is being protected by a vampire who has such a shield. ✗ Social Class Information ✗ Social Class › Royalty. She is a princess. Kingdom › Kingdom of the Volturi. Line of Succession › She is the only daughter of Aro, and therefore the future heiress to the Volturi throne and the future Queen of the Vampire race. ✗ Family Members ✗ Aro › Saerina’s biological father. Aro cherishes his daughter’s abilities, and the two share a close bond. Aro often encourages Saerina to practice her gift, and Saerina has inherited her father’s ambition. Sulpicia › She is Saerina’s adoptive mother. The two share a somewhat close relationship. Sulpicia cares for Saerina as the daughter that she never got to have. However, Saerina has a closer bond to her father than she does with her mother — though the two do care for each other. Athenodora › Athenodora is Saerina’s aunt, though the two do not have all that much of a relationship. Marcus › Marcus is Saerina’s uncle. The two do not share much of a bond as Saerina finds Marcus to be quite boring. She does not have much empathy towards the loss of Didyme, and therefore is unable to bring herself to really feel much for him. She does have some level of a familial bond with him, though, but it is not all that strong. Caius › Caius is Saerina’s second uncle, and is the person that she shares the closest relationship with aside from her father. (He might even be her favorite person in the world, though let’s not tell Aro that.) Due to her sociopathy, Saerina has adopted Caius’ sadistic nature when it comes to torturing criminals. Caius will often allow her to use her ability to cause severe mental and emotional pain if he feels that a criminal might particularly deserve it (which happens more often than not). Jane › Jane and Saerina don't really get along. Jane was used to being Aro's gem and dislikes Saerina for taking her place and for being a half-breed. Saerina thinks Jane is annoying. Alec › Saerina has a bit of a crush on Alec, though he doesn't know anything about that. Volturi Guard › Saerina does not form close bonds with the Volturi guard as she does to Alec and Jane. However, she views them as property to her; she will not allow anyone else to harm them. To her, they are her toys. ✗ Up Close and Personal ✗ Biggest Fears › Losing her power and losing the people that she loves. Reason for this fear › She knows that there are vampires out there that despise the Volturi, and she fears that they are going to come for her and tear her way from her family some time. Sleeping Habits › She sleeps eight hours a night. Insomniac › None. ✗ Favorite Things ✗ Favorite Food › Black Forest Gateau Ability to Cook › Eh, she put cereal in a bowl, once. She prefers blood to human food anyway. Favorite Color › Red. Favorite Music › Classical. Favorite Book › The Picture of Dorian Gray Favorite Movie › Frozen. It’s a guilty pleasure of hers. She knows all the words and sometimes can be heard singing “Let It Go” if she’s bored. Favorite Animal › Cat ✗ Dislikes ✗ Werewolves › She knows that Caius was once badly injured in battle against the Children of the Moon, and anyone who hurts her favorite uncle is automatically worthy of Saerina’s utter loathing. This includes the shape-shifters. Rule-Breaking Vampires › They irritate her. Vampires that knowingly break the rules will be treated to Saerina’s power at full force. The Cullens › She can’t understand why they don’t want to join the Volturi. Are they too good for her family? Humans › She sees no use for them outside of feeding. And yes, she knows she is half-human, but this doesn’t matter to her. She’s /rare/. She’s /special./ ✗ Hobbies (that don’t involve the torture of criminals) ✗ ➤ Painting ➤ Reading ➤ Music ➤ Languages ✗ Additional Facts about this Character ✗ ➤ Saerina has a tendency to freak out when she doesn’t get her way. She has a volatile temper. ➤ Saerina has a very bad habit of torturing humans before she eats them. ➤ She has an Italian accent. ➤ She loves Aro and Caius more than anybody else.
