THE Love Spell -start-

Featuring my oc-inserted-yuu Bobo and my twst ocs, Paulie and Tuck.

Bobo gets hit by a particular spell by Paulie, though at least he isn't claiming she'll need a kiss to break it. She'll just be stuck with it with a vague claim of a few hours.

Bobo had several reasons, well maybe just two really, for hating the Royal Sword Academy. It was just her luck that one of those reasons had bumped into her while she was out in the island's town to run an errand.

"Bobo! How nice to see you!" Paulie, one of RSA's supposedly few troublemakers called out upon reaching her. "Are you all alone? Isn't your familiar usually with you?"

"Grim is not my familiar." Bobo sighed, meeting Paulie's cheerful grin with a frown. "I'm actually not alone, but Grim didn't want to come along. I got separated from my friend thanks to the crowds." Oh if only the crowded market had kept Paulie from reaching her.

"Which friend is it? I bet I could help you find them!" Paulie leaned over her, resting an elbow on her shoulder as he peered about the swarm of people. "Is it the blue or the red one?"

"I don't need any of your help." Bobo practically snarled as she swatted his arm off of herself. Paulie pouted at her before suddenly perking up.

"Ohhh, I get it. You're on a date! That's why you don't want to tell me!" Paulie tugged lightly at the second blazer draped over her. Bobo scowled as she grabbed his wrist.

"What type of assumption is that? I don't need to tell you anything, especially considering we are not friends." Bobo's words caused Paulie to fling his free hand over his own chest.

"Not friends?! After all the things I've done for you. You're just as mean as any Night Raven College student." Paulie sulked before jumping back to his usually cheeriness. "I got it!"

"Got what?! No! Don't you dare do another thing for me! All you ever do is inconvenience me!" Bobo released him to try running away. Running, sadly, wasn't an option with how packed the streets are.

"Cheer up! I'm simply casting a spell to help you better express your love!" Paulie's grin slipped into a rather mischievous smirk as magic startled to crackle around his fingers. "Why, someone like you loves everyone, don't you? What a shame to hide that. For the next few hours, I declare you'll only be calling out your love to all!"

"Bobo!" A familiar voice called out just as Paulie's spell hit Bobo in the back. Unfortunately for Paulie, and for Bobo, people noticed the commotion the young fae caused. Paulie laughed, shouting something about it being harmless as he easily fled the crowds.

"Bobo, what happened? Wasn't that the RSA guy who keeps bothering you?" Tuck's voice called out again as he pushed past the concerned passerby's to check over Bobo. Bobo patted herself down before grabbing onto Tuck's arm.

"Come on love, let's find somewhere quieter to talk." Bobo told him before addressing the passerbys that she was fine. "If only love hadn't run... though he never explains what spells he casts anyways..."

"D-did you call me love?" Tuck stuttered as he helped Bobo wind her way away from the busy streets and into a calmer spot.

"What? No? I'm sure I called you by your name, love." Bobo paused upon hearing herself. "Love... love... I swear I'm trying to say your name!"

"Do you think that's the spell that guy casted? Just replacing my name with... that?" Tuck rubbed at one of his ears.

"He didn't know who I was with though... I... I tried to say love's name as well. Great... Come on, we still have some stuff to buy for love, right?"

"For... Trey? Oh, I did get one thing! Though that's before I realized I lost you..."

"It's fine, love. Just keep close to me."

"Vice-housewarden Trey! We're back!" Tuck called out as he led Bobo into Heartslabyul's kitchen. He placed a bag of goods onto the nearest counter before turning to Bobo. She held a large bag of flour, just barely able to peer over the side to actually see where she went.

"Prefect, do you need help with that?" Trey asked as he stopped what he was doing upon spotting her. He walked over to try taking the flour from her.

"I got it, love. Just point me to where you want it." Bobo side-stepped him. Trey paused briefly before taking the flour.

"Right, you can handle it, but you wont be able to reach the cupboard this goes in." Trey carried it away, motioning for Tuck to open a specific cupboard for him. A cupboard that was indeed too high for Bobo to reach.

"Does it make any sense to put heavy stuff up that high?" Bobo mumbled as she eyed the weird furniture of Heartslabyul. "Where's love? Did he and love- oh rot, how am I supposed to clarify who I'm talking about?!"

"You feeling okay, Prefect?" Trey questioned, looking over her. Bobo looked over to Tuck for help. Tuck didn't notice, busy putting away the ingredients they had bought for Trey. Bobo sighed and went over to tug on his shirt-sleeve.

"Huh? Oh! Oh right! Vice-housewarden, Bobo got cursed by some RSA guy!" Tuck explained.

"Curse sounds a little strong. Just some sort of spell that's messing up my speech." Bobo added.

"A RSA student casted magic on you?" Trey gently pulled Bobo away from Tuck to try inspecting her. "Are you hurt at all? Do you know who was it?"

"It was that love guy! Gah!" Bobo threw her arms up in frustration before looking over at Tuck.

"...Sorry... I don't know his name... but I've heard he's trespassed on campus few times before to mess with Bobo." Tuck sheepishly offered.

"That sounds like it was Paulie." Trey sighed, stopping his inspection of Bobo. "He always seems to target Prefect for his pranks. His pranks are usually harmless though."

"Right... I suppose it's not too big of a deal to just call everyone love." Bobo pulled out her phone and started typing away. "Let me test something. It would help to know how strongly this affects me." She hit send, causing Trey's phone to beep. He pulled out his phone to check what she sent him.

"Ah." Trey coughed into his fist, "It says "Hi love"." Trey gave a sheepish smile as he wondered why such a small thing was starting to embarrass him.

"I was certain I typed your name in... Though... I recall actually typing the word love." Bobo groaned, hovering a hand over her forehead. "Love said it will only last a few hours... but I'm not sure if I should trust his sense of time enough to try avoiding people. At least it's the weekend."

Dead Boy Detectives: Fic Recs

My latest hyperfixation is Dead Boy Detectives, so oc I've been reading and commenting on a ton of fic. And it's been really nice because the response of the authors has been so warm. I don't think I've ever gotten so many replies so quickly! Also, the fandom has inspired me to actually start writing again for the first time in two years and I've got a great idea for a fanvid. Charles proposes to Edwin post canon. It's a short and sweet established relationship fic with some cool worldbuilding about ghosts and their ability to shape their clothing/appearances.

Edwin learns to cuddle. It's a production and completely adorable. I love a fic that explores the difference between the boys' physicality and this one's really on point. The writing and characterisation are great and it's nice to see Edwin taking care of Charles.

I also recommend Lanterns In the Dark, which sets the scene for Charles and Edwin's first meeting with some gut-wrenching details about Charles' homelife and Edwin's escape from Hell.

When I Was a Young Boy by flowerbritts

A Good Omens crossover and AU in which Aziraphale is Edwin's adopted father. Family reunions and revelations abound. Also, Edwin gets to be a teenager and slam doors while shouting, as he deserves.

The author has also written Wait, I'm Coming Too, which is a very sweet post canon 'Charles Worries About Edwin and Realises His Feelings' fic inspired by that 'Edwin reading Heartstopper' fanart. Both fics deserve more love!

Edwin shares memories of how he fell in love with Charles, who figures out his own feelings in the process. It's super sweet and involves fun pre-show flashbacks and defintely deserves more attention!

I also loved Won't Fear Love by the same author, in which Charles takes Edwin out on dates and breaks the cuteness scales. And shout out to Good Enough which is the first fic I bookmarked for this fandom! 🥳

Hey, can I see what your other Kirby ships look like?

Hahaha I'm going to be totally real, there really aren't a lot of other Kirby ships I actively think about other than metadede-!! -u-'

I don't know what it is, but that particular ship just happened to scratch an itch in my brain I didn't know I had lol. And I only really started shipping it around a year and a half ago! A King and a knight who have worked together through the ages and both have really interesting and different personalities and likes and dislikes... I have a lot of fun with them! I never thought I'd ever gain the confidence to regularly produce and share ship content on any platform. So I was happily surprised and grateful to find a little corner on the internet here to share my thoughts on them with willing readers haha.

Other than that.... I don't have a strict list of ships I stick to! I feel like I keep saying this kind of thing, but in most cases I get more enjoyment seeing other people's interpretations of ships more than producing them myself! The Kirby universe is rich with characters and a wonderful space to explore character interactions and relationships with each other (platonic or romantic or otherwise!)

I mean, I know everyone interprets Kirby character ages differently which is also cool and all! I just have my own set of established headcanons that I've been slowly cultivating since I got introduced to the series 15 or so years ago.

I personally see characters like Kirby, Bandee, the other Waddle Dees, Ribbon, Adeleine, Gooey, Prince Fluff, Elfilin, etc. as children. They're powerful and brave and very unique from each other, but still kids in my eyes.

And then there's the characters like Dedede, Meta Knight, Queen Ripple, Daroach, Hyness, etc. that are characterized definitively as adults. And other characters like Magolor, Taranza, Susie, the Mage Sisters, etc. that might be interpreted differently by different people, at least from what I have personally seen! (But I see them as adults, personally)

Again this is all my personal opinion haha. I quietly stay away from ships that mix characters from my personal child and adult categories above- (which are not exhaustive lists because this post would be ten million words if I tried to list every single Kirby character, and are my personal characterizations and not me trying to impose my views as the one, canon interpretation!).

OC x Canon is also enjoyable in my book as long as the ages and dynamics are appropriate and consensual for both parties :)

And I don't need or want to make a list of everything I stay away from or anything. I don't feel that strongly about it. I guess my biggest personal example is that if someone ships Metakirby or Dedekirby (or their respective mirror versions), I'm not going to enjoy or support that no matter what their creator's justifications/reasonings for shipping those are. I'm just going to stay away from that ardently.

Anyway, I'm not trying to be controversial or say my opinion is fact either! These are just my personal thoughts and feelings and I curate my internet experience accordingly. My interests change all the time, I just enjoy seeing character interactions and stories written with love and passion!

....If I had to pick another ship that I like thinking about, I guess I'd pick Magoranza. It's fun to think about how they'd interact with each other, and sometimes I like to think of Magolor and Taranza as Garak and Bashir from Star Trek hehehe.

TL;DR: At the time of writing this post I only like creating metadede content for Kirby ships but I quietly enjoy a variety of other people's ships.

sigma is one of my dearest characters but calling him a y/n fic mc is so fucking funny. sigma messy bun when

Bro is so Y/N watpad protagonist coded though! Excessively pretty, unnaturally multicoloured hair (like those half and half oc ship kids from 2000s), name that doesn't fit into the naming lore (for mystery reasons but still), random appearance out of nowhere and from another world (i got dropped into the world of this show self insert au, used to love those lmao), ends up working for the big bad and seems to be a real acknowledged threat to said big bad despite doing nothing, magically connected to the magical macguffin (we already had Atsushi but sure lets add him too and make it super direct), immediately catches the main character's eye (yes as an innocent and a pawn but its still hilarious), gets compared directly to 2 characters the main character is close with (Atsushi, Kunikida), is the key to beating the big bad, the mc must protect him, is considered more compatible with the mc in 10 minutes than his established emphasised relationship of 7 years with the "romantic rival" by the fandom. Has no past, no history, not much in the way of established personality due to lack of low stress situations so more than half the fan content is just fans projecting onto him and head canons. And he just conveniently got handed all the info from Fyodor instead of doing it himself.

No hate to the character cause he has so much potential but honestly he isn't really all that interesting to me. He mostly seems to combine a lot of random tropes for now. I need Asagiri to drop that Sigma centered light novel already so we get more on him.

Usually? Sheer lack of motivation/freetime/ongoing burnout. We're actually at a nice point here because I'm actually writing.

Kitrye calls Raphael "alurlssrin" because she knows that he doesn't have a good enough knowledge of Drow to know what it means and that she can get away with being more affectionate with him. (Malla, however, does, and thinks it's *hilarious*) (She actually first establishes that she loves *him*, to his face, when they're in Menzoberranzan together and he sees her having what amounts to a full on anxiety attack over her mother.)

I love the style of comment where someone goes through a chapter and just. Lists their favorite lines/individual things they liked, particularly anything that evoked an emotional reaction, because, like...you never know if something is going to hit an audience in the way it hit you writing it. I'm always scared that something that I thought was gut-wrenching hilarious didn't hit, or something that I found sad didn't hit, or something that I found cute or hot didn't hit.

One type of comment that I particularly like, though, if it can be about any individual aspect, is when it's about the characters and whether I've gotten them down right (for canon characters) or whether they like them (for OCs). Like, one comment I got on one of my mini-fics for the Sapphic Summer Ficathon just said "I love her already" about Malla and that was such a relief to me. You understand, as well as anyone, how nerve-wracking it can be to put anything out there for OCs, even in OC friendly spaces like the BG3 fandom, ESPECIALLY paired with a canon character. So knowing when people like my babies and what I'm doing with them is always such a relief, especially since, at the end of the day....yes, I'm telling the story of Raphael and Kitrye and Malla and Minthara, but more than that, I'm telling the story of the SIBLINGS, both individually and as a whole. Kitrye's relationship with Malla isn't just skippable content to get to the devil sex, and Malla's relationship with Kitrye isn't just skippable content to get to her relationship with Minthara -- you *cannot* fully get the siblings' relationships with their SOs without understanding them, both individually and as a unit. And that's nerve-wracking because I'm functionally asking people to care about two OCs beyond their romantic relationships, and I'm asking people to trust me to write this dynamic in an engaging way. That's terrifying.

On AO3? That was actually my OLD username on here.

On here? ....Years ago, fadó, fadó, I was involved with some mostly forgotten drama involving historical fandoms, ugly portraits, racism, the quality of the author of Buchedd Beuno's Welsh, and like....the limits of fandomification when you're dealing with real people who often had complicated legacies, it got quite ugly and quite out of control (with shots fired, mistakes being made, and people caught in the crossfire on both sides), wanted to make a clean start, and chose this username, based on my favorite character from Marie Antoinette: The Musical. (This is also when I started to really distance myself from "history" as a fandom VS just...staying involved in fandoms inspired by history.) A fun fact is that even though there are like. 10 people or less who care about this musical in the Anglophone world, this is NOT actually a fully canon username - Someone got to "MargridArnaud" before me, so I had to add the 's'.

(On the record, I consider that business to be long since done, I have no contact with that side of things, it's done, it's dusted, I have no intention of rejoining that side of things, it's all been put to rest.)

If you could pair up Key with any of the characters in your fic in a shipping sense, including the OCs, who would it be and why?

Ooohhhhh, never thought I'd be asked a question like this!

Anyway, given how Key is still stuck in survival mode and still contemplating on the question of whether or not she can return home, she isn't going to be at all focused on romance. Friendship maybe, but anything deeper is out of the question. However, if circumstances were to change, if her perception of what choices are available to her have become clear, I think I'll have to go with the somewhat cliche route.

My favorite fox boy, Cameron Norton.

Their banter was really funny and fun to write and read during the prologue arc. They have a good, established relationship, they certainly trust each other, and have seen each other at some of their most vulnerable moments. They know a certain extent of each others hopes and dreams (although it wouldn't hurt for more heart to hearts if they were to ever pursue a romantic relationship). Furthermore, it would probably go down a friends to lovers type of story. Perhaps Cameron would make teasing, joking comments in his emails to Key about "dating" and maybe Key responds in kind. These jokes gradually develop into something true and real when they eventually move out of emails and either meet up face to face or actually call each other.

However, while their relationship is very positive and I have feeling they would bring out the best in each other, I think it would be kind of... unhealthy to say the least. From what we have seen, Key is isolated. Very isolated. Sure, she's on amicable terms with the Housewardens and is slowly accepting the found family vibe with the custodians (but still very guarded), but that doesn't mean she's truly ready to accept new relationships. Except for Cam. He alone is the one true friend Key has at the moment of writing this. Yet, if there is a romantic relationship at this moment of the story, Key would be using Cam as a crutch and not venturing outside of her relationship with him.

I think I would do a disservice to both key and Cam in the story if I were to treat their bond as such.

So, maybe in the future after Key's arc has long since finished, but not definitely a priority at the moment.

As for canon relationships...

Again, at the moment, there isn't any need for romance. Key is still very much a member of staff and while she is basically around the students' age, there is still an inherent power imbalance that is somewhat equalized by the fact that she's only a secretary/janitor. And she's also magicless.

But... if we were to rid ourselves of such important facts... Maybe someone who's fun? Someone who's willing to bring Key out of her shell, to give her reason to think of Twisted Wonderland as her home, and to be as spontaneous and fun as she is. Who doesn't listen to rigid rules without question and creates a fun sort of chaos that will make Key laugh.

Someone like... I don't know, Floyd?

Wouldn't it be funny if the endgame romance (not that there will be endgame romance in Caged Birds) was Floyd and Key? How would that work... Key'd? Flokey? Ohhhh, Flokey could work heheheh

(I saw a lot of people talking about ships and such recently, and while this isn't, like, a PSA or anything, I wanted to clarify some things about my own position on shippy stuff. I do really like writing romantic ships, but I also have some personal tastes on how I like to do stuff just in case anyone is curious or interested or whatever. Maybe I'll add this as a link on my pinned? who knows)

Firstly, I've said this before, but my primary shipping interest is f/f. I don't have any preference on like, CanonxCanon, CanonxOC, OCxOC, I love them all, but I do specifically prefer wlw ships. This absolutely does not mean I will not do other things, I am happy to do any gender pairing (if it works for the characters). F/F stuff is just more likely to catch my eye immediately. As a general rule, even outside of romantic shipping, I am here to give female and nb muses attention.

Secondly, I am slow-burn biased to the extreme. I like taking my time with ships and building a lot of scaffolding for a relationship. There are characters who require more "work" before they can get into a relationship at all (Shinobu, Izumi, Percy), and characters who could feasibly jump into a relationship very easily (Anzu, Tsubasa), but in all cases, I'm very long-term in how I prefer things to go, and even with those characters who are quicker to romance, there's still a lot of emotional things that will take time. CanonxCanon where there is in-canon basis for the ship is the only real exception, but even then, I still like to establish a lot of individual dynamic/portrayal things before jumping headfirst in. I like to see the chemistry play out in threads and really feel "who are these characters together?"

Thirdly, I am ship-exclusive. Most of my characters are OCs, so typically it's sort of a one-way street with other people's canons, where I am ship-exclusive with someone else's character without asking for anything in return. This is not the case with my canons, which is sometimes why I'm slightly more apprehensive about shipping them, because whether with an OC or a different canon, I will be practicing ship-exclusivity on my end, and I want it in return as well. I don't want to force someone into that if they don't want to do that, but it is a rule I won't budge on. Even for ships I really like, like Kaede/Maki, I would not be comfortable shipping my Maki with a Kaede who had like, three other Makis that they also shipped with.

Fourthly, if you ship with me I will terrorize you with OOC conversation, headcanons, random images or posts that remind me of Them, and probably commissioned ship art at some point because i've lost control of my life. You will never again know peace. I promise you excitement and engagement on my part for sure, I acquire ship brainrot very strongly and I'm very enthusiastic! Especially stuff that feels very personally-built and unique, whether that's stuff with OCs, or canons that just have a lot of personal flair, I will basically become this image about the ship.

I just made a post about selfship earlier, so I wanted to talk about it a little more in depth here.

I sort of consider myself selfship/yume(danshi), but not really. I am otherkin/fictionkin, so my ships with characters that I am in love with, that character is just me--I don't (usually) make OCs to ship with characters.*

I've tried to, and find I just...don't enjoy it. It feels inauthentic to me, because I just am fictional characters within a ship. In example, let's say I ship A and B together, and I am/kin A, so B is my partner, I am in love with them, and they are romantically involved with me.

I think I also feel disconnected from selfship communities because they generally don't understand how this could fall under selfship. Selfshippers will understand, see, and respect that someone's self-insert OC is them, and that the character they ship them with is a partner. But if I try to say, hey, this established canon character is JUST as much me as someone's self-insert OC is...they don't really get it? But someone's selfship self-insert is just as much that person as a fictional character I kin is me. (I'm not saying all selfshippers are like this. I have multiple selfshipper friends who have never expressed a lack of acceptance over my otherkin identity.)

Another disconnect I feel is just...my partner kins all of my "F/Os" / he kins everyone I am in love with? So like, imagines, community content, all that...I can't really understand it as well, because just, I have all of them. I am dating all of them. I have a real person I can talk to that is all of them. I can gush about all of them to my partner. Why would I talk about it online when I can talk about it with the real character? One that understands everything, our relationship, our past lives, our kin memories...

The last primary disconnect I can think of is that people do not, cannot, or don't respect nuance in otherkin while being in love with a character. I can't talk about this in depth due to the fact I am genuinely afraid of how people would react (if you're someone I am close to/know well you can ask, and you can ask anyways but if I don't think you'd understand I may decline to answer).

But I can't be open about who a LOT of my "fictional" loves are (I am on here regardless often anyways), but in selfship spaces, there isn't room for me. If I made a selfship blog and interacted with my boyfriend's blog, people might go after her or cut her off out of the selfship spaces she's in. I can't interact with either "faction" of selfshippers because I don't fit into either spot. I disagree with one side in some ways, and disagree with another side in other ways. But just, I can't be a selfshipper, not openly. People wouldn't understand me, my otherkin identity, and its nuances.

However, on the other hand, my partner really loves selfshipping. She is the EXACT same way I am, in like, otherkin and stuff, but he finds enjoyment in the community, imagines, etc. I've tried to make a selfship blog once or twice, but I just can't keep up on that. I don't feel safe in those spaces. The very spaces that are supposed to encourage those things feel hostile. Not to mention, I have 50+ "F/Os", and I am jealous of each and every one of them. I will "share", but I don't enjoy it (I am only not jealous if it's with friends). It would be impossible to find other selfshippers who accept me for being otherkin, let alone don't share any of my "F/Os".

*clarification about the OCs thing. I have 3 instances (I think) of this where I do have an OC I ship with a character. In 2 instances, the OC is not me and I ship the "OC" with "myself" (my kin). In 1 instance, the OC is someone I kin. This just feels different though because, they're people that existed in my kin canons. They were "designed" based off of memories I have from kin canons. They were not made for fun, they existed before that.

001. this blog is for an original character based on my personal take on vampire mythology, which i created in 2018. the themes are heavily centered in genres of SUPERNATURAL and BIBLICAL HORROR ( i.e. angels and demons ). while it's not necessary to have either of these elements involved when interacting, it will show up frequently on my blog so if that's not something you're interested in, this may not be the muse for you. be warned that love’s backstory include mentions of grooming and exploitation, however, nothing of that nature will ever be explicitly written out.

002. general 'do not interact' rules as well as rp etiquette apply here but i am pretty laidback about things. my hard rules for who i won't be mutuals with are the following: any mun or muse under 18 ( preferably not under 21 ), anyone who write real people ( both historical or currently living and "alternate" personas included ), blogs from the harry potter universe or have verses for it whether they're "anti-jkr" or "removed from canon", exhibit biases towards certain blogs / characters exclusively based on the race of their faceclaim ( yes, mostly writing with white muses is included ), faceclaims that are under 20 or consistently / overtly problematic.

15. Who wakes up first?

Well, I think we kinda established that canonically, Ronnie wakes up the most random hours while Poppy is trying to sleep :) so I’ll say Ronnie going exclusively off of this image I drew a few months ago, where it’s like 5 AM and Ronnie wakes Poppy up after he had a nightmare

16. Who wants to stay in bed just a little longer?

On the contrary, Poppy would LOVE to stay in bed with cuddle with Ronnie. Unfortunately for our dear Poppers… Ronnie’s got the personality of an exposed nerve ending sometimes.

25. Who needs more assurance?

I think it really depends on the time in the story. In the beginning it’s established that Poppy lost his wife and needs comfort at that moment. And yes, that’s an awful thing to go through! But I do think that as the story progresses, both Poppy and the reader start to realize that hey. Ronnie’s life is so fucked up that he needs assurance too. Especially considering Poppy is his first “real” (romantic + loving) relationship?! And he started it by comforting him????

4. Is your oc's environment supportive about their identity? How does this impact them?

Generally, yes. I like to imagine that the city of Harmont and the version of Earth it exists on is better than ours in that regard. Individuality is celebrated, in regards to and beyond queerness, and everyone is free to love and identify pretty much whoever and however they want. But that's not to say that it's a flawless society (far from it). When crafting backstories and 'behind the scenes' content, I do imagine that certain characters have had experiences with homophobia, or at least toxicity within the queer community, but it's never the main focus of the story. I guess they're technically headcanons since I haven't written them as words onto paper, but even so, the portrayal of queer characters is prominent and overall positive.

5. How did you figure out your oc's identity?

For the most part it's vibes, but it also depends on the character!

Sophia (she/her) - I knew I wanted Sophia to be on the ace spectrum for two reasons: 1) asexual characters are criminally underrepresented in media and fiction, and 2) it made sense for the direction I was taking with her character. When I started to flesh her out, I started to get the sense that she had little to no interest in sex; she's practical in how she dresses and presents herself, and hates stepping out of her element. However, romantic feelings didn't feel totally out of character for her. She has a partner (Ahren, who is also asexual), and while she's not touchy-feeling and canonically dislikes hugs, she cares for him deeply and would only consider doing anything physical with him (though the most they like to do together is kissing and cuddling). So, I ultimately came to the conclusion that she's not just Agent Ace, but she falls under the category of demisexual!

Janus (he/him) - In the past, I've described him as bisexual, but now I think I would actually call him bicurious. He's only ever pursued relationships with women, but is nevertheless open to the idea of being involved with a man. I've debated back and forth with the idea of writing in a love interest for him in the future, and I think I've since realized it could go either way. It opens a lot of doors for me to choose later on down the road, since he's more uncertain than other characters in terms of the endgame, despite having a more established background.

Harley (she/her) - Harley is bisexual mainly because I myself am bisexual. In my writing I tend to follow the philosophy of 'when in doubt, they're bi,' but for Harley I knew from the beginning that's what I wanted for her. Unlike Janus, however, her first and only real relationship is with another woman, although she's had fleeting interest in men in the past.

Jade (she/her) - When I first started writing about Jade, I knew immediately that she was a lesbian. As a character who slightly-unintentionally takes after multiple IRL friends of mine (most of whom are gay) and as Harley's eventual girlfriend, I had STRONG vibes that she had only ever had eyes for women and had never faltered in that regard. A true icon and an absolute queen in my eyes.

Max (he/him) - Max was the trickiest to figure out. For a while, I couldn't decide how to identify him, and that was how I realized that, as a character, he would probably prefer no labels at all. I guess he would technically qualify as pan in that regard, but I think if you were to ask him about it, he would probably just say 'not straight' and leave it at that. He's also another character that I've thought about giving a love interest; there will likely be some serious tension (most likely gay, the way I'm leaning at the moment), but I haven't decided for or against a relationship.
