He knows what it’s like to be a monster and hurt the ones you love, but he keeps Scott close just in case. And Jean does try to do the same thing to Logan but it’s wrong it feels wrong and this isn’t what he wanted.

Charles, Logan, and Scott manage to get through to her and she doesn’t die. Logan doesn’t have to kill her like the og Logan does. In fact, everything goes back to ‘normal’. Jean gets her powers under control and Scott and Jean get back together, leaving Logan in this awkward middle. He used to love Jean and he still does, just, not as much as he grew to love Scott. He almost loves Jean because Scott loves her so much, sees her as this goddess, his savior. And Jean is happy to add Logan to their relationship, but he’s definitely their honorary third and it’s not a healthy poly relationship. Vigert Irving Cheese (bonus grandpa -> John Ebenezer Cheese). I know people like Lantte as his last name but since his grandpa's last name is Cheese i thought it fit for him as well. He can't drive cars or bikes, so he doesn't have a license. Rides on rats or one of those weenie mounts if the rats are out of order or something.

Theodore J Noise. It's not short for anything, it's literally just a J. He doesn't have a license, but he drives both cars and bikes. Recklessly. If he gets a ticket he bribes the cops cause i mean. He's a celebrity after all. You can't arrest him. He'd bite the cops if they tried. Has a sports car and one of those off road bikes. (Fun fact: my mom calls those bikes "petrol mosquitoes" ("Benzin-Gelse") because of the sound of the motor.)

Bonus Noisey: all the Noisies can drive, and they'll sometimes drive Noise somewhere in a fancy limousine. Mostly when Noise is too tired or just doesn't wanna drive by himself. Or when Noisette forces him, or doesn't want him to drive by himself.

Hazel Belle Jolie aka Noisette. She'd absolutely hate the fact that she shares a middle name with Pepperman if she knew his full name. She has a cute little car, probably a cabriolet. Does have a license but doesn't drive very well. Not necessarily like an asshole, but just. A little stupid. Has definitely caused a few crashes and just drove away like nothing happened. Not because she felt guilty, but because she genuinely didn't even notice anything.

Fakey does not know how to drive anything. He does like watching traffic from afar but he's strangely hesitant to get near cars. Bikes are fine. He prefers running on all fours.

John Benjamin Pillar. He's incapable of fitting into any car and is too heavy for a bike. He doesn't need a car and i feel like he'd hate driving anyway.

Gerome William Pillar. He could drive a smaller car, but he doesn't have one. He prefers taking the bus or subway. Would ride in a taxi, but only if the driver doesn't talk to him / only talks very little.

Peddito doesn't have a car and doesn't need one. I mean, when you can fly everywhere you wouldn't need one either.

Anthony Dorian Solero aka Doise. His actual first name is Diego. Privately goes by Tony, but more often than not he stays in his persona. Does not have a license nor a car or bike, and would drive like a maniac if he did. He doesn't like driving anyway, and just rides around on his skateboard.

Totino Margherita aka Pizzahead. He doesn't have a license and can't drive cars or bikes. But he can pilot mechs and, surprisingly, helicopters. Unsurprisingly though, he doesn't have a pilot's license either. But if he had one, he would've gotten it illegally. Cheater. Has crashed multiple vehicles, and they all exploded, yet he survived every single time. Because cartoon logic.

Scar is some kinda of quartz soldier. Thats where the scars came from, plus accidents he gets himself into. (His gem is also really scuffed up and has probably almost been cracked before.) Depsite being made for combat, he's really into building and designing things. And being so strong and bulky certainly helps with that!

I made Joel some sort of corrupted gem monster. But don't ask me how the corrupting light works/happened here I never got that far. (He might be a nephrite...)

Xornorth is also here and also corrupted bc I love xornorth and. What is Scott without his boyfriend or brother related angst

Thinking about the conversation of Derek’s coercion/manipulation of his betas being perceived by him as full informed consent. He and Scott are in a fundamental disagreement over it because Scott sees the bite as a curse. Derek thinks he’s justified in what he’s doing because he’s giving them a choice, which Scott never had. He isn’t lying and he doesn’t have nefarious purposes. He wants them in his pack so that they can all be more powerful and the bite is the perfect solution to that. It's the one thing that he can offer people that he knows can be used for good. He saw these kids who were isolated and miserable just like he was and he had the power to change that. Idk how conscious he was of the fact that it was this volatile emotional state that made them more agreeable in the first place when he himself was just as desperate to not be alone. (I won't comment on his specific actions towards Erica bc that's already been analyzed with way more insight than I could provide). He informs them of the risks associated with being a werewolf and offers them a choice. This was essentially his first taste of actual authority in his life, and it can be really easy for him to justify his actions when compared to how others have treated him.

Look at Peter. Peter bit people without their consent and then manipulated them into doing his bidding for nefarious purposes all under the guise that he was justified because he also saw the bite as a gift. Derek grew up with this kind of behaviour. He was basically Peter's little prodigy aka manipulee #1. When this is how you learn to get your needs met, you emulate what you know. And for Derek, he thinks he’s in the right because even though he’s inexperienced and in way over his head, he honoured the Hale alpha spark way more than Peter did. He tries to build a dysfunctional little family out of sheer desperation with anger as his only anchor and ultimately faces the consequences of his actions (though lbr, I don't think even Derek could've predicted just how bad things got even with his knowledge of the alpha pack).

I can see why people so heavily criticize him for his villain era, but trying to empathize with him isn't an explicit endorsement of his actions. There's no such thing as a perfect victim. Everyone thinks that they're the protagonist of their own story.

you are correct.

i think people discount scott's extremely complicated view and relationship with being a werewolf and how much peter influenced derek. they're two important aspects in how they each operate and relate to each other. especially in in season 2.

like yeah, of course, scott does enjoy the benefits of being a werewolf but it's still a source of pain and issues for him. i don't think he sees it as a gift until riddled when it is something he can offer to stiles in the face that stiles may be ill with an incurable disease. also it's the bite that eventually does save stiles because it's what the answer to the divine move. season 3 really was a transitional season in scott's relationship with being a werewolf.

derek in seasons 1 and 2 is such a mess. he's trying but babygirl is a mess so he falls back on what he knows and what he knows are peter's lessons.

i think while derek was rightfully angry at peter for the things he'd done and feels torn about having to kill him (relieved, sad, guilty) i also imagine there was a part of derek that was relieved when peter returned.

not only was he no longer alone as the last of his family but in a way he and peter could return to their usual roles. a return to their status quo.

peter lurking about is familiar and thereby creates a sense of stability for derek that he didn't have all through season 2. peter stepping back into the role that he fulfilled since derek was a kid must've been a relief for him because even after everything between them there's still a part of derek that believes peter will know what to do.

these two have such a deeply complex relationship with each other.

Oh Liam totally has PTSD 100% especially after season six, we even see more of it in the zoo when Liam literally sees Brett hurting him, and while we can argue that’s guilt I don’t actually believe that hasn’t happened before.

I think the fans and writers sometimes (not necessarily on purpose) excuse Liam’s mental instability and self-loathing/harm with stage fact he’s a werewolf, “oh, he literally just cut into his own palms so that they’re pouring blood… it’s fine he’s a werewolf he’ll heal”

There is nothing more beautiful to me than Theo and Liam seeing each other and understanding the other despite everyone else’s hesitation towards the two. Both no what it’s like to be feared and both are the exception to each other.

yup! tw isnt really the show for this, i guess, bc theres so much trauma they put the characters through and then just.. kinda forget about that? theres a lot of untouched potential with the storylines they start, for sure. and they love to play liams character off as the comedic relief, which i Hate. that scene in s5 where liam tells scott to punch him so he'll get angry??? haha funny and werewolf logic and whatever but how fucked up is that? liam offering himself as a punching bag, probably thinking hes useless if it wasnt for his anger? and this is in s5b so he feels horribly guilty about having tried to kill scott. sure, he needs to get angry so he'll get strong in that situation, but he 100% thought he deserved getting punched by scott.

and the zoo scene, oh boy. i personally do not think that that was just liam hallucinating something that never happened/that he was only projecting his guilt or whatever. that episode is named "triggers". theo, word for word, says: "something around here is triggering you." why would they focus that much on something TRIGGERING liam when its not something that actually happened to him. idk about you, but that makes zero sense to me. and its not like its out of line for bretts character to have done something like that. (personally hate when people erase this part of bretts character because it automatically takes away from liams character. like sorry that this random guy that you like for reasons unbeknownst to me is an asshole, at least own up to it and dont pretend he isnt as big of a dick as he canonically is.)

(^ i say, with theo as one of my favorite characters. im aware that hes an asshole. i do not care. im not pretending that he isnt.)

the brief focus on the warning sign about "dangerous animals" above the cage (reminder that this happened before liam was a werewolf) and liam begging scott, saying "they can't see me like this" and scott finishing "like a monster?" during his first full moon. yeah. liam has thought of himself as a monster long before he got bitten. that boy has serious self-worth issues and a bunch of trauma.

theo and liam helping each other through their trauma, recognizing the other's pain and seeing themselves in each other is so important to me. an aspect i love to focus on.

i had the idea of vitalasubz funerary cannibalism pretty immediately after seeing "cannibalism" on the prompt list. it's a good concept. but i wasn't sure if i could get it to the minimum word count (it ended up juuuuust scraping by) so i decided to write the time loop fic first and then do the cannibalism as a bonus if i felt up for it

and then one of my friends (unrelatedly! without knowing about this!) started talking about eclipse fed cannibalism on discord, and i was like Man....i should write eclipse federation cannibalism....unfortunately i only really have enough ideas for One Scene of it.....and they were like write one scene then! and i went You Know What. youre right. and wrote this in one sitting

i knew basically as soon as i had the idea that i wanted to do stuff with the despawn timer. how much can you eat in 5 minutes, when you're grieving and dissociating and in shock, your action spurred on only by the knowledge that whatever you don't eat will disappear forever? that this is the only way to preserve anything at all of the one you love?

in contrast i did not know until literally the day of writing it that i was gonna do something with hearts-as-hearts. it was a good idea, though.

did you know that after subz dies, vitalasy stands without moving or speaking for 50 seconds, turns slightly, and then continues standing there without doing anything or speaking for another 13 seconds. yeah. fun little canon moment. it's also 63 seconds off the 5-minute despawn timer!

the title is from quattrocento by margaret atwood, which is a great poem. idk how well it actually works for this piece thematically, it works okay i think but i'm not doing a ton with serpent imagery here (even though i could! subz and eclipse are in fact totally doing various mythological snake imageries!) or with garden-of-eden stuff? but the imagery always stuck with me when writing cannibalism stuff and i hadn't gotten to use it for a title yet and figured this was my chance

cannibalism as devotion.... cannibalism as memorial...... mm. good stuff. i should have made a way to make this Eucharistic somehow, cannibalism-as-worship doesn't show up here as much but it would've slapped.

something that didn't make it into the fic but that i did have some thoughts about is vitalasy's feelings wrt zam + subz after this. i think he's glad, on some level, that he got to eat subz and zam didn't, but also he feels kind of guilty for feeling glad, but also he's arguing to himself that he shouldn't have to feel guilty, it's not like he stopped zam from being there, zam wasn't there bc zam isn't/wasn't on their team.

other stuff that is even less fic-relevant but that i've been thinking about is that you could do a lot with "if you kill someone you get their heart" + the various meanings cannibalism can have. cannibalism as domination of an opponent. cannibalism as possession. cannibalism as respecting someone's sacrifice. killing someone and then handing them their own heart to eat, when you kill someone and give them back the heart. yeah. fun possibilities!

shoutout to ihob. nothing much to say here other than i'm glad i somehow included ihob in the vitalasubz cannibalism fic. i love ihob. i love that bacon only eats pork chops even though they're worse than golden carrots! he's on three hearts anyway, what's the added saturation gonna do! i love the dumb fucking three-way contract for its ownership. i love. ihob.

fun fact: the only other fic on ao3 tagged with subz's suicide stream is ALSO a vitalasubz funerary cannibalism fic. i genuinely did not know this until after posting. what can i say, it's a good concept.
