"I don't know why we're talking about me though when you're the talk of the red carpet. Who are you wearing?"

Standing in the corner like an outsider was her role, especially in their duo so Beth was more than surprised to notice Sam taking her role. Then again, this wasn't his event but Sam had a talent, or maybe a curse, to socialize anywhere he could. "Wow, who rained on your parade?" Beth spoke, stepping in front of Sam. Hello fans of Re: Dracula who were introduced to fiction podcasts through the updates from our good friend Jonathan Harker! Now that the story's over (sob!), would you like some recommendations for some other audio dramas that you might enjoy, made by some of the folks who worked on the podcast?

Jonathan Sims, who played our local phonograph enthusiast, is the writer of the hugely popular horror podcast, The Magnus Archives. The Head Archivist of the Magnus Institute records statements made by members of the public, detailing strange encounters with the supernatural. What soon becomes clear is that these statements do not describe separate and unrelated events, and a bigger and horrific picture begins to emerge. Also appearing as recurring characters in this series are both Sasha Sienna and Alasdair Stuart.

Karim Kronfli is a prolific voice actor, and while he might be best known for his roles in both Re: Dracula and The Magnus Archives, he has voiced a wide range of characters in many different fiction podcasts. Out of all the ones he's appeared in, I would personally recommend urban fantasy anthology series, Unseen. The unseen world exists alongside ours, but only a few humans can see it. It's a world where magic and magical creatures exists, and Karim's character tells his story in episode 7, titled We Ourselves.

Beth Eyre and Felix Trench played twins Antigone and Rudyard Funn in Wooden Overcoats, a British sitcom set on the tiny fictional island of Piffling, in the English Channel. The twins run a funeral parlor together, the only one on the island, until a newcomer arrives. Eric Chapman (played by Tom Crowley) sets up a much more successful funeral parlor, and the story is narrated by the Funns' house mouse, Madeline.

Alan Burgon plays the Interviewer in The Amelia Project. The Amelia Project is a secret organisation, and clients come to them looking for their help in faking their deaths. The Interviewer listens to each client's story, before concocting unique and often elaborate ways in which they will stage their deaths, before being reborn into a new identity.

David Ault is also a very recognisable voice to anyone who spends a considerate amount of time listening to fiction podcasts, and The Kingmaker Histories feels like an appropriate choice here. A weird steampunk series set in the Valorian Socialist Republic in 1911 , this story involves found family, its own intriguing magic system, and being gay and doing crime.

Our favourite cowboy, Giancarlo Herrera, plays one of the protagonists in sci-fi action/thriller, Primordial Deep. Spinner is part of a team which is sent deep beneath the sea to investigate the resurgence of creatures thought to be long-extinct. There's plenty of horror to be had here, as something ancient is stirring in the depths of the ocean.

As for the crew? Tal Minear works on so many podcasts, and if you like fantasy stories, I would recommend the delightfully lighthearted Sidequesting, which follows new adventurer Rion, as they help people on their travels. If you would like some more horror, there's their spoiler-driven anthology series, Someone Dies in This Elevator.

Hannah Wright's Inn Between is a fantasy series based on D&D. Each episode follows a party as they meet in the Goblin's Inn, in between adventures, as the tavern follows them around wherever they go.

Stephen Indrisano's upcoming docu-horror Shelterwood promises to be a series which explores the horror of suburbia, as it follows one man's quest to find his missing sister. Until this is released, I would recommend Do You Copy, in which Stephen plays one of the protagonists. This found footage horror series follows the events which unfold after the closure of Red Tail National Park, and the people who were left inside the park, after its mysterious closure.

Ella Watts is regarded as a walking encyclopedia of all things audio fiction, and has worked on several high-profile projects, including directing both Doctor Who: Redacted and Marvel Move. Her upcoming Camlann is a post-apocalyptic series due to be released next year, inspired by Arthurian legends and British folklore. She is also the executive producer of Tin Can Audio's (who are also producing Camlann) beautiful experimental series, The Tower. The protagonist of this story, Kiri, leaves her life behind to climb an impossibly high tower, making phonecalls along the way.

Newt Schottelkotte's Where The Stars Fell is a supernatural fantasy set in the town of Jerusalem, Oregon. Cryptozoologist Dr Edison Tucker arrives in the town to carry out some research, and meets her roommate, author Lucille Kensington. There's so much more to this strange town than first meets the eye, with a huge revelation at the end of season one.

I love Sienna Shaw so fucking much I can’t even look at a picture of her or think about her without getting all intense like that is my fucking GIRL. I feel like because Art is such an iconic & scary villain that he really demands a final girl that can truly face AND counter his brutality. Art’s evil is so far beyond Michael Myers or Freddy Krueger or Ghostface. I love those other villains but Art is on another level of overpowered evil. Like Art is a demon & he is BRUTAL chaotic & damn near unstoppable he takes pure & utter delight in suffering & misery.

Sienna would already be impressive for almost killing Art not once but twice but she’s so much more than a badass. Sienna cares SO much about her best friend (even if Beth was pretty shitty to her!) that shes haunted by her ghost & imagines her mocking her & blaming her for her death. Her number one priority ALWAYS is protecting children. Her little brother, her little cousin. She protects the vulnerable & she’d give her own life for them in a heartbeat. She doesn’t resent her mom for always snapping at her or her aunt & uncle for thinking she’s crazy. Because Sienna is KIND underneath all the suffering she’s been through. She is at her core just an incredibly good person who was dealt a brutally unfair hand.

And it’s SO interesting that it’s a hand she chose, in a way.

Obviously as a little girl begging her father for a superhero she could identify with, Sienna had no idea her heroic persona would be part of a real battle of good versus evil. She fantasized about having a magic sword & a cool costume because she was creative & imaginative. She didn’t know the burden & sacrifice that would come with it because she thought it was all fiction.

Then she lost so much, more than most people could survive, & still she can stand up to Art when NO ONE else can. I just love her so much 😭

Simmy comes off as standoff-ish and cold to those who don't know her well, often label by fans and social media as having a 'resting bitch face'. She is never rude, but tends to be quiet and distant and can be misinterpretted as mean. However, once given time to thaw, Simmy cares deeply about her friends and family and is an incredibly compassionate person. It was a bit of a surprise to both those around her and the fans when they found out about Simmy and Mariona as she is so quiet and distant, and Mariona comes off as so bright and chirpy.

Simmy grew up playing AFL football alongside her brother Marcus. She has always been a sporty, athletic child and always took a passion in sports. She was introduced to soccer when her childhood friend needed someone to fill in on her soccer team and knew Simmy would have no problem with coordination. After this, Simmy quickly fell in love with the game.

Simmy began her professional soccer career at Melbourne City FC in 2011 at 17. She made her senior Australian debut at 20 in 2014. She was traded to FFC Frankfurt in 2015 and stayed until 2019 before making the move to Arsenal.

After a drunken one night stand in 2020, Simmy discovered she was pregnant with her now daughter Opal, born April of 2021. She was luck enough to be pregnant along side her close friend Katrina for many months.

2024 Year in Review/Writing and Hobby Goals 2025

Back for another end of year reflection time!

A year and a half now in my current place and I still love it to bits. Unfortunately wasn't able to do the improvements I'd hoped for this year (cause rising costs of everything), but I hope in the next year or two from saving up and finally a salary increase.

It's been slow going, but I finally feel like my mental health is overall going in a positive direction. I felt my best this year since I started really struggling with my anxiety. Though I still slide into the mindset at times, my self-worth is no longer as tied to work and I'm living a better work life-balance, accepting that that has to be in place for my mental health. Which I wouldn't have done years ago.

Also after years of uncertainty, I finally have some answers as to my struggles with weight and am taking a supplement that I hope I'll see results with into the new year. Thankfully, my migraines didn't pop up as frequently thanks to getting on magnesium (wee!), but my sleep and stomach have been up and down and I'm still trying to figure those out (boo!).

Another sign my mental health has been better, my writing output is the most it has been in years. I surpassed my 25,000 word goal, posting 41,695 words, with between 10,000 - 20,000 words on unposted works. Baldur's Gate 3 (Tav/Gale and Durge[Sienna]/Gale fic) was the biggest driver of the year. Then with finally getting DA: Veilguard (I loathe putting the The in the title, lol) and falling head over heels with Emmrich Volkarin and my Rook, Caliwyn "Cali" Ingellvar, fic has been a happening with them. The real surprises of the year were starting up a multi-chapter BG3 AU of all things where my Bard Tav is under the patronage of Raphael AND fic of another Tav (Arivari "Ari") and her relationship with Raphael. Writing a multi-chaptered AU and a non-canon pairing in the same year was not on my writing bingo card for 2024, lol.

These all will continue to be my areas of focus in 2025. I'd also like to try and start dabbling in my original fiction again (it'll remain on the list until I finally do it!). I still have some My Time at Portia and Sandrock and Stardew Valley things I eventually want to write, but not at top priority (until the writing muse in the back of my brain makes it so).

I also worked on finishing up in progress Ellana/Blackwall ficlets. I decided it was time to set a final chapter number on my collection of ficlets and one-shots for them and Jane/Garrus. I'll never say never to writing for them again (especially when/if we get new ME), but I'm ready to finish the last of their stories and archive my other jotted down ideas.

While I didn't meet my reading goal of 20 new books, I did read 18 (plus, it evened out with all the writing I did, and reading so much Tav/Gale, Tav/Raphael and Emmrich/Rook fanfic). Favorite fiction and nonfiction included Raising Lazarus by Beth Macy; VE Schwab's A Darker Shade of Magic, Vicious, and Vengeful; T. Kingfisher's Paladin's Strength and Paladin's Faith; Murder Your Employer: The McMasters Guide to Homicide by Rupert Holmes; Winners Take All by Anand Giridharadas; and The Demon of Unrest by Erik Larson.

I did well with my games list for this year, playing and finishing Cyberpunk 2077, I Was A Teenage Exocolonist, and Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West, all of which I loved. Of course played DA: Veilguard and while there are critiques to be had, there is still so much I love and enjoy about it. In a surprise twist, we also got Life is Strange - Double Exposure with Max this year; again, not a perfect game (some story choices were...interesting and wild to say the least, and I need the next game to see how it all works out), but it was such a joy to play as Max again (a character who still resonates with me).

Other games I enjoyed were Arcade Spirits, Duck Detective - The Secret Salami, Echoes of the Plum Grove, The Oregon Trail, and Supermarket Simulator; with returns to Powerwasher Simulator and Disney Dreamlight Valley. I also finally got my grandfather's old desktop cd-rom drive to work which meant I could play many of my old games. Playing Carmen Sandiego and Jumpstart edutainment, Disney games, Lego Island, Backyard sports, Barbie, and older Sims games as an adult was just delightful nostalgia.

statistically, she'll probably get an ACL at some point so let's say that. she joins the ACL club but they've improved treatment fortunately when she does. leah, beth and viv lose their shit over it and get very angry about the scheduling though, they are fired up on their campaign to end ACLs that's unfortunately never-ending. emy takes advantage of the time-off though and spends time watching sienna's netball games that she's usually forced to miss before making a very poetic comeback at the emirates, the same place she did her ACL (leah definitely doesn't cry)

btw sienna's worst injury is also an ACL, a year or so after emy's. it's very common in netball too and she did it in a crucial league game. emy accuses her of copying and matteo being the ultimate little shit and annoying brother that he is, gets a very painful tattoo on his knee of a scar to match emy and sienna's just to piss them off. his worst injury was a bit of whiplash when he head banged too hard while playing the electric guitar. sienna sustained a worst injury from that incident, due to the fact she rolled her eyes every time he complained, she seriously strained her eye muscles causing headaches

Amelia, as usual, was wandering the hallways late at night, despite the regulations prohibiting it, her game board in her arms. Her hair was freshly braided as she had just come out of the shower, dressed in pajamas and slippers—convenient for leaving the Ravenclaw tower as quietly as possible. Silence prevailed in the corridors, except for the snoring of a certain Ravenclaw student.

She had everything planned. 11:33 PM with Beth, her childhoof friend. for another game of chess. Elisabeth would be late. She would apologize profusely, and Amelia would laugh at her excuse for being late. They would enjoy cookies and the "lemoande"she would have brought. She would be accustomed to not protecting her tower and placing it just before the king, giving her the opportunity to deceive him and take the crucial piece. She would sulk for fifteen minutes before accepting Amelia's cupcakes as a meager consolation. That'd remind them of how they met. They would spend the evening (platonically) watching a movie before discreetly returning to the chilly Ravenclaw dormitory.

Her mind was always ready to anticipate, but that didn't prevent her from almost stumbling when a black cat passed between her legs. She let out a small cry before realizing that another person had cushioned her fall. Blonde hair and freckles met her gaze. Andrew Larson, not Montrose (on whom Sienna, Amelia's best friend, had a crush), but the one who spent his time drawing constellations in his notebook during classes. Astronomy was to him what chess was to her. She quickly straightened up. "Oh my god, I'm really sorry! Your name is Andrew, right?" Amelia seemed to have a habit of bumping into handsome blonds. She blushed, thinking of her Halloween encounter with Ominis, but quickly dismissed that embarrassing thought from her mind as she saw the young man also getting up.

*Still thinking about the rogue planet he spotted, Andrew hauled himself up the infernal steps of the Ravenclaw Tower. He had successfully dodged any patroling prefects and loitering ghosts, a skill he applauded himself on, having never been caught. Then again, he did often fly back to their dorms from the Astronomy Tower, preferring to take to the night skies as he had always done as a child. Except now, he knew that no matter how high he flew, he would never be able to touch the stars.

Absorbed in thought, he missed the knocker's riddle and was about to apologise to the bronze eagle when a meow interrupted the silence. It was the black kitty that intruded on his housemates' chess match! It wove between his legs and pressed itself against him. Knocker forgotten, he bent to scratch the kitty between its ears.

Hello there *He whispered as the cat nudged its head against his hand. Taking that as an invitation, Andrew folded himself onto the floor where the feline immediately slinked onto his lap. Scooting back against the wall, he yawned and resigned himself to his temporary fate as cat pamperer… until… its gentle purrs lulled him to sleep, exhaustion taking over.

Merlin knows how many minutes later, a startled cry jolted Andrew awake, and he yelped at the mass that fell on top of him.*

"Oh my god, I'm really sorry! Your name is Andrew, right?"

*Andrew blinked. A girl. Automatically, he scrambled back, legs kicking and palm on his chest to calm his racing heart at being awoken so abruptly.*

This is probably super unpopular, but I feel like I wanted Terrifier 3 to be longer. I just wanted more of Sienna (and Jonathan!!) and seeing her adjust, seeing more of her inner world. I know people complained about Terrifer 2 and how long the dream sequence was but it's one of my favourite parts, and it's so important to Sienna's journey!

I love how deeply caring she is. She's my favourite final girl of all time, I would go to war for her.

Sienna Shaw might just be my favorite final girl of all time too so it's great to see you feel that way too. She's very underrated I think despite being one of the most complex badass damaged & deeply caring protagonists in a horror franchise!

I think the Sienna & Jonathan parts we got in Terrifer 3 were some of the strongest moments of the movie & it hurts that it felt like they didn't get more focus despite their dynamic being a huge part of what made 2 work so well.

Also, THANK YOU OH MY GOD. The dream sequence in 2 is BRILLIANT on all levels. It's a very important moment in Sienna's journey & THE PLOT HELLO? Haters act like it's literally just a regular boring dream sequence there for no reason when it ends with an ACTUAL fire being set & is the first hint at something supernatural in the trilogy (not counting All Hallows Eve). It's also a masterpiece in practical effects, creepy & funny & iconic for Art & what he represents in the story. It's maybe one of my favorite sequences in a horror movie & the hate it gets totally baffles me. It's like people watched a different movie than us.

I would've LOVED more scenes with Beth's ghost & possibly Sienna's mother's ghost. Give me a 4-hour movie that's just a character study of Sienna & I'd eat it up, honestly, that's how much I love her.
