I ship Ganya much more than Calendiles 3. I actually never liked Jenny much even though I tried 4. Speaking of, Fred irritates me on every level and while this is the least of it even her name annoys the hell out of me 5. Dumb as it sounds, I really think Weslah could have been happy in their own weird way because I believe Lilah had some goodness in her and loved him 6. The first season of AtS is my very favorite and it's not even particularly close. You mentioned in a post that Angel was his best self in s1 and I agree totally! 7. Tara was too good for Willow, especially the Willow of later seasons 8. Xander has more than his share of flaws but gets way more hate than he deserves and people have to understand that the standards for what is problematic differed back then from what they are now 9. Dawn never had a well defined personality to me. I don't dislike her but am not invested in her either 10. I don't like season 5 of BtVS much at all despite loving a few individual episodes, I find s5 as depressing as seasons 6 and 7, and part of me is always surprised when people name it as their very favorite but 11. I love the Magic Box and definitely prefer it as a main setting to the high school library. Sorry for rambling so long, I got way too into this! I understand! I love Wesley and Lilah (they're my top 5 too!) and I like Oz and Giles. Tbh, in a way I like Anya more than Buffy and Tara. She's less likable but more enjoyable sometimes. Emma Caulfield's work as Anya is underappreciated. She did a great job.

I agree. Is this an unpopular opinion? I think Lilah would've given it all up for Wesley had he given her all of him like deep down she wanted.

Season 1 is probably my second favorite! Yes, Angel was at his best from City Of to Epiphany imo.

I don't think she was too good for Tara, but Willow fucked up big time. Maybe I would agree if Willow wasn't a woman...

I agree that Xander gets too much hate. It's human nature to vilify characters we don't like. But you don't have to bring up standards when judging his flaws. He has them and he has always had them, but he also has qualities and he was a better person than a lot of beloved characters.

I like Dawn but I can understand what you mean. She did very obviously have a personality imo, but I understand not caring for her - she was underutilized in many ways.

I've mentioned so many times that season 5 is literally the most overrated season. I prefer season 6 to it. Most seasons 5 episodes are boring, Glory is annoying and the season is bleak.

That one is more surprising. I like the high school seasons better but the Magic Shop was a really cool and interested setting that represented freedom for the characters - it was bigger and airier than the library, for example, and full of magic and possibility.

ANYWAY— While I follow show canon for the most part I tend to go off the rails around season 6 of BTVS and I also incorporate things from the comics and novels as I choose. Generally at this point I'm not very interested in BTVS related things, instead leaning to more crossover and original content. For me Spike is just out in the world and not in Sunnydale or really involved in any of that anymore.

THE YIKES FACTOR — I portray all vamps as like, human-adjacent in their logic, thinking, mannerism and emotions. meaning that Spike likely is gonna get a bit different than in the show because despite the fact he’s the most human of all the known vampires, he’s still a ya know, demon. His logic and thinking are kinda alien, how he interacts with others is kind of alien, etc etc. There’s a decidedly uncanny valley element to him and any other vampires I write. I enjoy writing him as unrepentantly a vampire and a lover of carnage and death-- even when a good guy. So just, strap in for some fuckin’ weird shit i guess ?

ABOUT SEEING RED — I don’t acknowledge it at all for several reasons. For those unaware, that season 6 episode involves Spike sexually assaulting Buffy. For starters I don’t have any interest in Spike regaining his soul as I don’t think he needs it so there’s no need for an impetus for that plotline. Next is that the more I hear about the behind the scenes of BTVS in general and the making of that scene in specific the more uncomfortable I am with it. Like, in a “real people were abused” kinda way. Marsters has talked about how traumatizing filming it was and I can’t imagine it was fun for SMG. Knowing how Whedon liked to write in cursed shit into the plotlines of characters played by actors he was displeased with (see Cordelia and Carpenter in ATS) and knowing Marsters was on that list because of Spike’s popularity (plus just Whedon’ whole gross thing about traumatize his “Strong Waif” characters) it just — it all just sits very badly with me. So I just can’t in good conscious keep it.

I am not interested in whitewashing Spike or expunging his crimes or anything like that. This is just a situation where my narrative interests and personal ethics or whatever are mixing to say “nah not keeping this”. Don’t worry he’ll do other deeply fucked up shit so it’s not really a loss.

2. Are there any popular fandom OTPs you only BroTP?

Uhm... well, lessee.. Fresley, uhm, Gunn/Wesley, Angel/Wesley, Buffy/Willow, Buffy/Xander (it’s popular in some circles, just not Tumblr), uhm... Cordelia/Fred, Buffy/Cordelia (outsizedly popular on Tumblr :P)... Olicity, Westallen, Fuffy (sorta), Tara/Buffy, Red Beauty, in OUAT and Fangel

3. Any fandoms that don’t appeal to you?

The larger Marvel/MCU fandom, the Star Wars (especially TFA) fandom, 4. Have you ever unfollowed someone? Why?Yeah, duh. I’ve unfollowed due to an excess of disagreement without any features I liked about the blog, or if their opinions started to enrage me with their wrongness. I’ve unfollowed if the blog posts too much content I’m not into (other fandoms, ships I don’t care for, etc), or if they are nothing but reblogs AND very very prolific (like hundreds of posts in a very short span). Also, for not tagging shit so my blacklist can’t filter it.

Basically, I unfollow when the downsides of following a blog outweigh the upsides.5. Do you have a NoTP in [insert fandom here]?

My major NOTPs are Spuffy, Spander, Spangel, Bangel, Fresley (sorta - I waffle on if it is NOTP territory or not), Klaroline6. Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?The Spuffy and Bangel fandoms have never actually helped their case, broadly speaking. But I already didn’t like them. The Spangel and Spander fandoms are generally fairly tolerable. The Captain Swan fandom, or at least the nasty parts of it.

Uhm... Westallen fandom, tbh.

8. Unpopular opinion about [insert fandom here]?

BtVS - Spike’s storylines, especially in Seasons 4 and 5, are usually incoherent when actually placed in their larger context in the show, and I really really don’t like the way his story is written.

AtS - Kate Lockley should have joined the main cast; also, Bonus - I don’t really gaf about Doyle’s death. Bonus Bonus - Not Fade Away was a horrible series finale.

Arrow - Olicity makes little sense and suffers from a huge excess of tell, very little show, and I’m very happy they’re not together anymore.

The Flash - Westallen should have happened much sooner, if it was gonna happen. Slow-burn works sometimes, but all it did with Iris and Barry, especially in Season 1, is make them look unpleasant vis-a-vis the other.

Legends of Tommorrow - No idea what’s actually unpopular here. Uhm... Time Canary?

Supergirl - Uhm... well, Karamel seems popular, but I don’t like Karamel. I just don’t see romantic chemistry there. 

OUAT - SwanQueen fics set in Season 1 are weird and a lil messed up, IMO. Yeah, there was tons of chemistry even in Season 1, but the idea of them getting in a relationship? *grimaces* Not my thing. Also, only unpopular in SQ circles, but I don’t see anything inherently abusive in Captain Swan, and I almost always roll my eyes when I see people calling it that.

AoS - (unpopular in my corner of this riven fandom) I don’t want Skye ‘breaking away’ from S.H.I.E.L.D.

Red Versus Blue - I liked Connie/C.T. and ship Wash/C.T.

The Vampire Diaries - Fuck Klaus. I hate him. Horrible, unlikeable, unappealing character. He’s not even one of those characters that is not actually likeable as a person but is actually interesting or something. No, he’s just rotten and unlikeable through and through and I see absolutely no reason why I should give two tenths of a shit about his story or him.
