I imagine Reader is similar to Tozu w/ their mask on (one which I hc is similar to Tozu/ could be like idk a sheep or smth to indicate Their behaviors outside their mask) just slightly more toned down, kinda like a statue that simply watches only becoming lively when something interest them. However at the end of the day, when no one is around and all in the academia are slumbering, reader finds themselves unable to fall asleep. Their mask lying aside them as the watch the stars, they feel…wrong. Like a sheep with no fur in the winter, naked. Ofc they can always rely on Tozu to comfort them, helping them feel safe and comfortable with themselves. What a good boyfriend..<3

First of all, I would like to say that the cast does not fuck with you

Even if they didn't know that you're dating Tozu and you're just a student then they'll just hate you by association because of the mask but whatever

Clearly they like to allow people to quickly become outcasts for the most simple reasons so that was expected

But anyway I feel like Tozu would love a shy partner

First of all, because of the teasing. If he knows you're easy to tease, he'll do it just to get a reaction out of you

Second of all, because of the control. It's obvious that he has some kind of thing for that. I mean, he's hosting a killing game. Let's be serious

If it's specifically a mask thing, then he'll literally just make it worse by hiding it from time to time

He loves when you go running to him for comfort for any reasons, and if he knows that's a way to do it, then problems relating to your mask will appear

In the end he'll always tell you how beautiful you are without the mask and how much he loves you, as if he's trying to make you forget about your mask all together

He also loves you being anxious because it gives him a reason to never shut the hell up

He'll take quite a bit of time explaining something about the situation you're in that's causing you to be anxious and actually try and calm you down (which he's really good at, when he wants to be)

And then on the other hand when he explicitly causes trouble for you, he'll say something along the lines of "a little bit of stress is good for you" and move on (if you're bothered for too long he'll fold and apologize)

The small boy in front of me on the plane is playing some kind of game with his dad, giggling like a maniac and repeating 哪里, 在哪里(where, where is it) and 这个， 这个，这个 (this one, this one, this one!) and actually these are the moments that make it worthwhile.

It's such an interesting difference from learning languages in school, where a lot of my vocab was more formal, used for essays or school subjects... and then, because Latin, that vocab was also often pretty much the same between English, French, and Spanish. Academic-style writing really does feel like 'English with a fake-sounding French/Spanish accent' a lot of the time. I didn't really get the chance to feel like what I was learning in school was 'real' or like what I did know was legitimate. I had to go on exchanges for that, and then be deeply annoyed that my C1-level French was at about kindergarten-level circumlocution when I tried to help my host family in the kitchen.

Learning Chinese from apps is just... so much more fun? Like, I'm learning normal conversation and I can recognize it in everyday life! Boyfriend used his a little while ago to puzzle out a karaoke menu!

the final date was cute, but i kept staring at that tall ass bottle in the back the whole time (granted, i don’t drink. maybe that’s a normal height 😭)

after 3 seasons of me whining about the lack of a prom suit, we finally got one ! the bra is unserious but i don’t even care at this point. idk how to explain it but lisbeth’s dress reminds me of a pink version of the bratz: the movie doll dresses

next up is a charm bracelet hunt, cheesy but still cute (and much better implementation than the scavenger hunt hell in s7) more importantly, lisbeth says she loves us & asks us to be her girlfriend ❤️

then we have the declarations of love ! i was stumped on what to do about nyah and milo, this whole volume i picked the “stay out of it” options. i ended up choosing to break them up, i feel bad but they really shouldn’t be together

while this volume had much better writing than the last, the ending was still rushed. The San Francisco tech scene is completely beyond satire. I'm in a discord server for game developers based in SF because even though I don't live in the bay area anymore it's still the closest hub for indie developers near me. I went to one of their meetups once, the talk itself was completely useless and I left about 30 mins in, but I did get two people to playtest my demo beforehand so it was still worthwhile. One of those things where you're in a sea of 50 people who annoy you and are able to find maybe one or two people who are cool to talk to.

[off-site question] 'what is your system for tracking Flight Rising info?' (asking in reference to notn prep convo)

saw something about keeping all fr tracking info in their phone's notes app...got me thinking about my system for info tracking for fr + the evolution of it. I used to use my mobile phone notes but then moved to google docs pretty quickly and adapting to sometimes use discord. My current system is a chaotic mess due to my hiatus/return, new things/events I missed, and only recently getting my first very own computer, when everything before was phone or laptop.

My system can be primarily summarized by the following breakdown:

-> s p r e a d s h e e t s - I got back into fr after a long ass hiatus and immediately decided that my lifelong aversion to spreadsheets was over and I locked in to teach myself how to use them in the way that I want to, to replace my 'everything in google docs' trash...

I currently have sheets for: notn prep, hibden tasks, and project tracking (especially) I also use sheets other people have made for FR closest in-game color calculator and other stuff, as well though mostly I make my own so I can go crazy with formatting only I like.

I also use google docs still, such as my recent quick little reference for the multiple secret santa events I am participating in this year. I use it a lot less than I used to, especially as I try to/considering switching from google drive to a different file/bookmark collection platform.

-> private/personal server channel - minimal-info stuff that needs quick access

Not a lot of people, afaik, use the ability to create a discord server for just themselves to their advantage. I throw things from my clipboard to here to grab later/move to other places, keep things super easy to find in-house to share later in a dm/server. I also have a specific thread of name ideas and what I have and haven't used, though it isn't efficient and may be moved somewhere else for formatting. But for (temp) hosting, easy access between devices, easy sharing w others and organization within my most used site/app, it's good.

trying to make and use more forum threads since I realized how much I like looking at other people's (lore/dump/journal/tracker, etc) threads as reference/inspo and for fun. It is cool to see how others interact with the game, with it having such diverse options for engaging with it. Especially older threads, like woah!! Time capsule of old fr!! I am interested in internet/media archiving,,,

-> dragon bios - tracker dragons specifically, of which I have a couple

they hold more than they should rn lol...ideally and hopefully in the future, they will just be overviews of the specific dragon's lore, with more fleshed out stuff other places + all related links and art! :) currently my main focus for tracking in dragon bios is tracking each dragon and its associated projects or pairs, and tracking purchase, gening and some outfit plan stuff. Its a good basis for my other, more in-depth trackers to have an easy way to reference on the individual dragon scale (ahhah accidental pun). I reference them a lot.

-> profile/clan bio - I do not put much tracking info in my clan/profile bio, mostly to keep it simple and not overwhelming but also because I find it a little bit more annoying to update and can be confusing when people come across my page for the first time...Currently pending a big old profile bio revamp, trying to come up with formatting ideas and looking for profile bio templates (is it just me or are there so little of them floating around..?) I definitely want to include a selection of specific things,,, I try to prioritize links and commonly referenced info and then general being friendly/intro stuff. also aesthetics....I will be, and others even more, looking at it a lot... I am slowwlyyyy getting to my bigger to-do items I swear, I just procrastinate with making new projects and scrolling aimlessly on forums....

We have a bunch of kandi bracelets we made with our names on them! So there's that. We also use a notes app on our computer to make logs :3

Definitely! I (Duff) am literally an alien, and we've got a lot of otherkin up here too. Tyler, for example, is hyenakin, and Eddie's shark kin. We're also collectively a red wattlebird, a spotted hyena, and an Irish wolfhound!!

24. How has your view on plurality changed?

Well, we're certainly a lot more open-minded nowadays. One of our former hosts (was around in 2018-2020, who is now dormant) tended to fakeclaim or assume people were "cringe" for posting about their experiences. Not nice. We're much more accepting of others now, obviously, and believe trying to normalise all forms of plurality, especially different origins and experiences, could be really beneficial to the community.

Something that constantly annoys me is when people complain and complain about how things aren't free anymore but don't mention the fact that things cost money to make. It's not free to make the things you consumed online when you were younger

Its not even free to put an app on the app store. It's, last I looked, like 90 bucks to get something up on the app store and a huge long process, so like whenever I see a post that's like "every app should be free and no ads" I'm like ok sure but why do you feel like you deserve other people's time, money and skills to entertain yourself?

Even outside of the money it costs to build things and host things, the time it takes and the time it takes to build those skills is substantial, why do you feel like you should get that for free?

This webbed site is always "don't devalue your skills and time!!" Until someone makes an app on the app store or a little game and then everyone thinks it should be free for some reason.

And the annoyingest thing about it is that there ARE still tons of places to get your free entertainment

Ppl write fanfiction all day long and that's free as hell

Itch.io has a billion free games to play that people make for fun! Or for practice! Or game jams! So much stuff to do there for free
