Ohhhh the reason I felt burnt out from sekai was because I've for the most part only seen and focused on negative things like the fandom's characterisation and I've also been working on other things (like my GCSEs) so therefore felt tired and had no time to play for myself.

every time someone says "an should have been vbs's leader" or "saki should have been leo/need's leader" i want to . slam my head through concrete. oh you missed the point so bad

1. the "leader" thing is kind of really fucking insignificant outside of where each group's story begins and promo materials. it doesn't mean one character is the "main character" of the group. project sekai doesn't HAVE a main character in the first place it's not that kind of story. each individual character is equally important to not only their group's story but the over-arching story of the whole game

2. leo/need's story begins with ichika because she is ultimately the one that brings them all back together. not saki. it is ichika's determination and frankly stubbornness that gets through to shiho and honami. like, saki was literally ready to give up on reconnecting with honami! (out of love and respect for her choices but like) if she was the focus leo/need would have been honami-less!! but ichika refuses to let it go. much like she refused to let go of their friendships throughout all of middle school.

when the story begins, we see ichika burnt out and hopeless. but that's only after years of trying and trying and trying and trying again to reconnect with shiho and later honami. this fandom does not understand ichika's character well . she's not meek and she doesn't back down easily she's not some like... fumbling "girlflop" she's incredibly driven and strong-willed. she lost some of that due to depression and isolation but as of leo/need's most recent arc ender she has pretty much regained her fiery spirit. she's leo/need's lead singer and MC for a reason

3. vivid bad squad's story opens with kohane because she's the only one who hasn't grown up/partially grown up on vivid street. if an or akito had been the "leader" we would have lost the magic of getting to know vivid street and its people and unique culture. it's all average every day life for them, but kohane is experiencing it all for the first time. it's only through her eyes that the audience can understand just how very special vivid street is

4. one more thing: you could say that the "leaders" represent the themes of each group and the general direction of their story arcs. vivid bad squad, among several other things, is all about improvement and growth and overcoming challenges and creating something new and finding a place to call home within a community. who better to represent that but the socially anxious newbie who never felt like she belongs anywhere and would never do anything with her life?

leo/need is about love and the ability to endure all hardships and preserve that love . it's about having a heart big enough to hope for the impossible and the willpower to make it reality. ichika, in all her hard-headed stubborn painfully persistent glory, is perfect for that.

similarly, mafuyu isn't nightcord's leader because nightcord is ultimately about healing. hope. finding a way to make life worth living again. these aren't paths he would have chosen on his own. he gave up on himself a long time ago. as did ena and mizuki, in their own ways. the best person to represent hope is the one who refuses to give up on anyone and stubbornly believes she can save them all

wonderlands x showtime is about moving forward to a brighter future and not letting the past keep you shackled in place. it's also about having lofty dreams and the selfishness to pursue those dreams. both of these things are why emu Isn't wxs's leader; she lacks that selfishness (i'm not using this word in a negative sense btw; i think being selfish can be a good thing. and sometimes being selfless is a bad one) tsukasa (and rui) has, and she often clings to the past.

and as far as more more jump and all their own themes of hope and never giving up go, of course their leader has to be minori. she brought three disillusioned, jaded ex-idols hope and reignited their passion! she's the walking embodiment of hope itself

do you have everything about all of their parents? i for some reason can’t find anything about ichika’s mom, rui’s dad or emu’s mother (i may be blind, pretty sure emu’s mother was mentioned and ichika’s mom was aswell. i know she was mentioned in ichika’s introduction but i haven’t seen her in story yet)

The parents who don’t have physical appearances are generally less important and rarely show up or are mentioned (with a few exceptions) but we do learn some things about them from card stories and such. Here’s some stuff I can remember about the faceless/nameless parents

Ichika’s parents met because they liked the same song. It’s where her name comes from.

also her dad reads manga

We don’t know much about her mother. she's nice though.

Saki and Tsukasa’s mother is a piano teacher. Considering that she’s friends with Harumichi, she probably used to play professionally

We don’t know much about their father, but he has a tendency to spoil Saki (mentioned in Tenma Hinamatsuri)

Honami’s mother is a beautician (mentioned in an area conversation iirc) and her father is a hairstylist (mentioned in Petit SEKAI Episode 6)

Shiho and Shizuku’s mother is a koto instructor and their father used to be a guitarist in a band

We don’t know much about Minori’s parents but they show up in STEP by STEP!. They initially had concerns about her switching courses and being a full-time idol, but after seeing that Minori was prepared and determined to be an idol they let her go ahead

We don't know a huge amount about Haruka and Airi's parents either. Similar to Minori, we know they are nice parents and supportive of their idol careers and that's about it.

Haruka's mother is a nail artist. She was worried about Haruka when she was younger because she rarely smiled.

Kohane's dad is a photographer. He's also the one who bought Count Pearl.

According to Kohane, he has a penchant for coming up with weird names

An mentions in MEIKO's 1* card story that her mother, Yuka, is not a good cook.

I think it's stated somewhere that Yuka is a teacher but don't quote me on that

Akito and Ena's mother makes them eat their carrots because she thinks they should at least try to eat the things they don't like.

She's pretty laid-back and thinks her kids should be able to do whatever they want to do. She's meant to be the polar opposite of Mrs Asahina.

In Ena's fes card it's revealed that she kept some of the old art that Ena threw away in case she ever regretted it

Toya's mother used to bake him cookies a lot and that's why he likes them

She was also very overprotective of him when he was younger and basically wouldn't let him do any recreational games or activities in case he injured himself and couldn't play piano.

She taught Toya to play the violin. I'm assuming that she used to play professionally and that's how she met Harumichi.

We don't really know anything about Emu's mother iirc. She's mentioned occasionally but I don't remember her ever appearing off the top of my head. In Smile of Dreamer it's mentioned that she's abroad doing volunteer work in Cambodia.

Nene and Rui's mothers are good friends due to being neighbours. Nene even used to call Rui's mother "auntie" when they were younger. Her mother recorded a lot of her performances from when she was little.

Beyond that we don't really know anything. I don't remember Nene's dad ever appearing but he is mentioned.

Rui's mother is a biologist, as mentioned in Revival my dream. I have a theory that she mainly works in entomology (study of bugs), or maybe more specifically lepidopterology (study of moths and butterflies), because Rui talks a lot about a moth at one point and has books on butterflies in that event. He talks about some other bugs as well.

His dad is a robotics engineer, also mentioned in Revival my dream. He doesn't actually appear though.

Rui's mother had a very similar background to Rui. She was often called weird and eccentric because of her interest in biology and didn't have any friends until meeting Rui's father, who was really into robotics.

We don't know a huge amount about Mafuyu's father. He does push her to achieve as much as her mother does, but he seems to have limits.

We don't know a lot about Mizuki's parents either, but they are very supportive of them and were worried when they started skipping school

VOCALOIDS - have to be protogen designs. Fits the synthetic vibe! Their correlated numbers appear on their shoulder displays, and their chest displays have “subtitles” for song lyrics they’re singing! (These don’t need to be added when drawing them!! This is just a funky detail!)

the particulars, so far:

MIKU- Bunny protogen! Big fluffy teal ears take the place of her twintails :3 (don’t quite know how I’ll make WxS Miku work with this, because of her being a cat hybrid…)

LEN- Dog protogen! Spiky fur, bat-type ears (you know what I mean, the triangle sticking up ones). Eyes are plus signs typically!

RIN- Dog protogen! Rounded fur, retriever-style ears. Eyes are minus signs typically!

(Len and Rin’s eyes can cycle through mathematics signs, but they typically stay with their assigned ones. This is inspired by a certain lyric in Bring It On, and I want to animate out the specific cycle at some point!)

(Be wary: I associate the different pony ‘subspecies’ as having different class levels automatically, so that will be affecting my opinions and reasonings)

Ichika: earth pony

- I picked this for her because she’s like, the ‘generic main character’ vibes, and I think that in a mlp themed visual novel, the mc would be an earth pony. So I made ichika an earth pony.

Saki: pegasus

- her last name means pegasus. Also I wanted to keep all the siblings to the same subspecies (pony-type???) and I can’t just not make tsukasa a pegasus.

Honami: earth pony

- I was seriously debating between unicorn and earth pony with her, but eventually went with earth pony because idk it just felt right

Shiho: unicorn

- shizuku has to be a unicorn in my mind, so shiho does too (also I think it’s funny because unicorns are usually seen as more proper or sophisticated and shiho is. Not that.) (/pos)

Minori: earth pony

- in this universe, usually only unicorns or pegasi get hired by idol industries, so minori really doesn’t have any chance but she keeps trying and trying because she doesn’t care and knows that she can do it. (Another reason why airi is so standoffish towards minori in the main story because she’s trying to tell minori the truth, and that airi was really just a flook with being an earth pony in the idol industry and she doesn’t want minori’s hopes and dreams to be crushed by the idol industry) (which is also why she eventually takes her under her metaphorical wing and ‘shows her the ropes’ because once she realizes that minori won’t give up, she’s like ‘I see myself in you’ and wants her to be happy)

Haruka: unicorn

- once again, idol industry only hiring unicorns and pegasi. Also she just gives off the vibes

Airi: earth pony

- like I said before, she was really just a flook (since earth ponies are VERY rarely hired to be idols). But I really just can’t see her as anything other than an earth pony so that’s why she is one

Shizuku: unicorn

- also vibes, she’s very unicorn to me

Kohane: earth pony

- I just feel like kohane would be like ‘oh man I don’t fit in anywhere all the areas I want to pursue (ie: photography) are full of unicorns and pegasi what should I do’ and then main story stuff happens and she finds out the the majority of vivid street’s population is made up of earth ponies and she’s like ‘oh!’ (/pos)

An: pegasus

- also very tempted to earth pony-ify her due to it fitting her having to climb to get to kohane’s level (this would be if kohane was a unicorn) but ALSO she’s a pegasus because she *hasnt* had to work so much for what she has in the beginning. As Ken says, an’s never really had anything bad happen to her so she doesn’t know how to deal with it. I think that’s partially because she’s one of the only pegasi who occupies vivid street, as well as just being a pegasus in general gives her more ‘power’ in the pony society

Akito: earth pony

- he has had to work so hard to get to where he is. He’s had to climb every single imaginable ladder there is to have to climb, and that just feels very earth pony to me. Also I feel like him being a unicorn or a pegasus could kind ruin his character and it’s entire point of being the way it is (I am not going into a rant abt Akito’s character here that would be way to long and not many coherent words would be used) but just believe me he’s an earth pony

Toya: pegasus/unicorn

- he could be either a pegasus or a unicorn to me. I’m fine with either. Once again, delving into the pony class system, Toya is from a rich family. His entire family is famous and very prestigious. His dad also just feels like all the stuck up obnoxious ponies from manehattan and because of how pony genetics work in my brain, Toya is also either a pegasus or a unicorn. I’m sliiiiiiightly leaning more towards pegasus, because I love Toya wing imagery (having the freedom to fly away and go anywhere but being trapped within his home, held down by his father. Not even knowing how to use his wings until he meets vbs and they help him and show him that yes, he can be free.)

Tsukasa: pegasus

- no explanation needed

Emu: earth pony

- ignore everything I’ve said about class types equating to pony types in my brain emu is so earth pony (also could explain why she’s so different from her family, and why they think she’s too “incompetent” (going from an outside perspective and not actually how her family feels I understand emu’s family im just saying this for the dramatics) to help run the family business and all that)

Nene: unicorn

- she would benefit from this so much. Also we could make robonene into a wooden puppet that she moves with her magic or something like that, since I don’t believe super advanced technology exists in the mlp universe

Rui: unicorn

- also would benefit so much from this. He also deserves to be an eccentric unicorn I think that’s very him. Also he would probably make puppets in the universe and would kinda need magic to move them and stuff (he’s almost twilight level magic ability due to him being a prodigy)

Kanade: pegasus

- I just thought it'd be funny since pegasi are usually athletic and stuff. Also kanade would be like 'why did I have to be a pegasus this doesn't benefit me I don't leave the house'

Mafuyu: unicorn

- I feel like it fits her nice girl image, as well as giving her mom another reason why she expects to much from her (because unicorns are the highest respected pony-type and usually have the most detail-oriented jobs)

Ena: earth pony

- gives her dad another reason to be like 'you can't be an artist you have no talent and no one in the industry will respect your because your an earth pony' also Ena is just such an earth pony it feels right

Mizuki: unicorn

- unicorns irl are usually seen as more girly and feminine than any other pony-type commonly, so mizuki gets the 'girl pony'. Also, when they were a kid (in this pony universe) they'd always get mistaken for a girl because 1) child, 2) unicorn, 3) wearing pink frilly stuff

Here some general things about my g/t Au Sekai of Various Au that i definitely did not gatekept in my drafts for 4-5 weeks in the darkness.

And because i tagged all of them, i know some people doesn't like this this type of content so you can view under the cut.

• Leo/Need chants Steven Universe's Giant Woman song around Honami in her giant form.

• Shizuku also embroiders Shiho's clothes, by Shiho's clothes i meant the tiny ones.

• An literally invited VBS to her room. Despite it being literally 10 inches tall...

• That's how they found that she’s a Tiny.

• Emu likes to be picked up. The higher the better.

• Toya is the opposite. Despite being tiny, he liked the floor thank you very much.

• Ichika loves to give her girlfriends finger pats.

• I said it and I'll say it again. Akito is Ena's personal uber.

• One time someone told MMJ to kick off Minori since she was a "pest" and Airi told them to More More Jump off a cliff.

• Mizuki thought that Akito was a Tiny. Oh were they super duper wrong.

• Not g/t but Kohane drinks vinegar. Like straight vinegar. Idk why i thought of this but i have been. For quite a long time.

• Rui is very curious on how humans taste and Nene is mortified.

• When Akito first spoke to VBS in his giant form, they were flabbergasted with his voice. It was already that deep normally, it couldn't get any deeper.

• An doesn't enjoy being picked up as much as Emu but she sure as hell loves to be on someone's hair as long it's not Toya's.

• Minori doesn't appear in her Tiny form a lot in the livestreams at first due being scared of backlash thanks to...*ahem* the obvious discriminations towards Tinies. But now after Airi literally went off with that one person she now appears in her Tiny size more.

• Everyone in the stream gushes about how adorable she is on stream.

• Shizuku fusses over Shiho alot more than canon since Shiho is a Tiny. Said Tiny is not pleased.

• (HC ADOPTED FROM JUNI @/honey-and-lemon-gt) Tenmama bought Saki a dollhouse when she was little and she absolutely loves it.

• It comes with a weird cat toy and a cheap plastic figure that is totally not Snow White (/j).

• Shiho and Honami were invited alot while Ichika just sits outside. Poor Ichi ;-;

• Whenever she is at Kanade's, Honami oftens shifts into a Tiny to clean the little crevices and shifts taller to clean the ceilings.

• While An, Emu, Shiho and Saki usually uses their enhanced Jump Boost and Increased Stamina to move around their normal human houses. Ena doesn't get that luxury as a human so there are lots of little staircases in the Giant Shinonome household or use Akito as uber.

• Samo is ½ inches tall.

• Akito loves to pickup his tiny friends (Not Toya for obvious reasons) for no reason.

• Nene is insecure about her size and has believed that she would never make friends due to it.

• She was quickly proven wrong the moment Emu entered her life.

• Haruka gets protective of Minori whenever Minori's tiny. It's just that she's so smol.

• I SAID IT AND I WILL SAY IT AGAIN. AKITO AND LEN ARE BROTHERRSSSSSSSSSSS. GIANT BIG BRO AND TINY LITTLE BROOOOOOO-

• Kid Rui once held Kid Nene as if she was a newborn.

• When they're in the rollercoaster in Kohane's Buddy・Funny・Spend Time ♪ event story, An and Minori were in their Tiny form as Kohane and Haruka desperately clutched onto them the entire ride so they wouldn't yeet off the coaster.

• When Mafuyu went to Ena's in her 3rd Focus Event (I forgot it's name but it's the I-Nandesu event), she lied to her mom that Ena's house is very far away so her mom wouldn't restrict from going to Ena's house, which is. On the Giant Section

Updated favorite commissions as of Hoshi wo Tsunagu + general commission opinions

Ichika - Made to Order. Overall her commissions are fine, though I prefer the VS versions of both Pulse of the Meteor and Hoshi wo Tsunagu (the tuning man... the tuning). Still not the biggest fan of her

Saki - Teratera/Show Off. Commissions overall are great. Stella is a close second place for me; I prefer the VS version of From Tokyo; and Aioi made me cry, it's beautiful

Honami - Still very close between Stage of Sekai and Flyway. Not a huge fan of Hare wo Matsu, probably because I'm just not big on Orangestar. Then again I'm not super huge on halyosy and then we got Flyway and it blew me away so. Edge still goes to Stage of Sekai though

Shiho - Voices. Yuyoyuppe is one of my favorite producers. However, Shiho literally does not have a bad song. You could put any of hers in the top spot and it would be correct

Minori - Tenshi no Clover. Worldwide Wander is right behind it. Dream Place and Teammate are both fine, but the latter especially really isn't my thing. I'm not a huge HoneyWorks fan. My opinion on Dream Place may go up when the full version is released

Haruka - If. Ai no Material is dragged down by MEIKO, and Float Planner is fine. Don't have much to say about her, but I do hope her next song is better. Her commissions tend to be more just good rather than great imo

Airi - Momoiro Key. Icedrop and More! Jump! More! are also very good. Still don't like Parasol Cider. Something about it just annoys me and I don't know what. It's just not for me

Shizuku - It's between Metamo Re:born and I Am, We Are. Color of Drops is fine, and Luka's tuning is surprisingly good in it

Kohane - Hitsuji ga Ippiki. Very funky, very Kohane. Beat Eater is also fantastic, and I think I'm in the minority of people who actually genuinely like Flyer. It makes me happy

An - Gekokujo/Giant Killing (yes that is the official translated title at least according to Apple Music). So... this song and event leaked around the time of my grandmother's funeral. I'm still grieving the loss, but this song has helped so much. Awake Now and Machi are both fantastic, and Forward is fine, though I want more of the guys

Akito - Kashika. Can't wait for the full version in three weeks (as of posting this). Akito is like Shiho, though; you could put any of his commissions as the top one and they'd be right. Let's hope that continues

Toya - Rad Dogs. Still hasn't been topped. Mirai is good though, and I recognize why people like Utsuro wo Aogu, even though I still don't like it that much. Hoping this Hiiragi Magnetite commission is his and it's good

Tsukasa - Mr. Showtime. I do not like Tsukasa--or WxS, really--that much. It's the character voices that get me most of the time. However, HitoYama made a banger. I can't stand Tondemo Wonders because of the sound effects, and I prefer the VS version of Eighty-Eight

Emu - Hoshizora Orchestra. Yeah I'm revising my opinion there. I cried when I listened to it with the lyrics. Made me feel warm. Once Upon a Dream is criminally underrated, and Niccori Survey Team's Theme is rightfully loved

Nene - Hakoniwa no Coral. Hot take, this is her first good commission. I do not like OSTER Project or kinoshita much, so that really knocks down Nijiiro Stories and Glory Steady Go for me. I wanted to like Hoshizora no Melody so badly because I like Polypho, but I can't stand them speaking in rhythm rather than singing, and I think MEIKO's tuning is some of the worst in the game here

Rui - What Kind of Ending Do You Want? I honestly flip between his songs though. He's like Shiho and Akito; any of them ranked as the best is the right answer

Kanade - Samsa. Don't get me wrong, I love both Kanade Tomosu Sora and Tricologe. But... KAITO. And Teniwoha. But yeah you also can't go wrong with Kanade

Mafuyu - Engeki. This song. I cried. Enough said. Jackpot Sad Girl is one of the best early game songs, Saisei is criminally underrated, and while bug is overrated and overplayed, it earned that. You can't go wrong with any of her songs in my book, though I'm aware I'm in the minority there. Still don't get the hate for Saisei though

Ena - Nomad. Just... beautiful. But her other songs are also great and again you can't go wrong. Do you see a pattern here?

Mizuki - Kitty. So funky. I think you know what I'm going to say here based on the last three though. Also don't get the hate for kimi no yoru wo kure. Like, at all
