Fear and Loathing at The Party of The Dead
The sun crept malevolently over the horizon as we embarked on our perilous journey into the heart of inebriated darkness. A few beers, we had told ourselves, a simple mission to tame the savage beast of sobriety. But as the evening wore on, we found ourselves careening wildly down the rabbit hole of booze-soaked madness, time becoming a twisted mockery of itself and the dangers lurking around every corner.
Amid the swirling miasma of psychedelic intoxication and the relentless pursuit of a bender that would shake the very foundations of the universe, we, two intrepid protagonists found outselves caught in the throes of an adventure that could only be described as something out of a fever dream.
It began, as these tales often do, with the seemingly innocent intent of indulging in "a few beers". But in the ever-unpredictable realm of bacchanalian excess, intentions are little more than a fragile tether to reality, and the vortex of debauchery will swallow all who dare to venture within its grasp. As the hours blurred into an indistinguishable haze, the cruel alchemy of alcohol and other substances conjured into existence a whirlwind of danger, intrigue, and hedonism that would forever be seared into the memories of those present – if they could remember anything at all. Which few would.
It was in the aftermath of this madhouse, a party that had spiraled far beyond the realm of rationality, where the mysteries of the universe were laid bare. Our intrepid heroes, fuelled by a cocktail of cheap beer, unknown pills, and various powders, found themselves locked in a cosmic tête-à-tête about the nature of the afterlife. It was at this moment that I revealed an uncanny and utterly impossible truth. Like a modern-day Faust, I divulged my ungodly connection to the enigmatic Fae and the power it had granted me: I had gained the ability to commune with the dead in the spectral realm of the Jade Kingdom.
My companion, ever the skeptic, guffawed at the ludicrous notion and swiftly issued a challenge: prove it. And so, with a grin that was equal parts mischief and madness, the summoning began. Like the tales of old, the veil between worlds was torn asunder as the spirits of the dearly departed were conjured into the throes of the party. Dead relatives, long-lost friends, and even a few ill-fated acquaintances joined the bacchanal, their spectral forms revealing secrets that only they and the friend could possibly know.
As the night wore on, the party transformed into a macabre and twisted soiree, a celebration of the living and the dead, a testament to the raw, unbridled power of the Fae. The hours stretched into eternity as the spirits danced and cavorted alongside their mortal counterparts, a never-ending carnival of the bizarre and the arcane.
It was only when exhaustion and the last vestiges of their stupor finally caught up with them that our heroes succumbed to the siren song of sleep, collapsing into a fitful slumber amidst the ghostly revelry. When they awoke the following morning, the spirits had vanished, leaving behind only a haunting silence and a lingering glow that spoke to the otherworldly events of the previous night.
In that hallowed afterglow, there could be no doubt: my friend had become a believer in the awesome and terrifying power of the Fae. As for me, I had once again delved into the unknown and emerged with a tale that would forever blur the lines between reality and myth, forever questioning the nature of existence and the boundaries of our world.
The world was now a stranger place, the darkness more profound, and the thirst for the unknown an insatiable beast gnawing at the edges of my mind.

Unshakable Faith (2023)
Episode 33 Breakdown
The police team plan to covertly search the location of the radio signal, looking for the enemy's antenna, and the KMT are pleased to hear that Ghost Owl has returned.
Officer Hongmei visits Dr Bai at Nurse Bai's request, and he says he's worried about the poisonous cave spiders in that area and had a patient recently with a nasty bite. Officer Hongmei worries about who this person was and goes to check the back mountain, watched by electrician Liu Simao. The fake Li Qiuchen is determined not to let Officer Hongmei ruin their plans.
Police Captain Chen increases the patrols on the back mountain when a registered letter for Assistant Rui arrives, containing phosphorus powder and a coded message. They puzzle over the non existent sending address and who would send a letter to a dead man.
The expert team reviews their data from phase 1 of the survival test, and prepare for phase 2 - a high temp and humidity test to simulate if something when wrong with the submarine systems. Ji Danyang and Expert Chief Chu worry for the wellbeing of the participants as they start raising the temperature and add mechanical noises. He Xiwan encourages the team to endure it.
Officer Hongmei asks Dr Bai if he knows anything about the mystery address on the letter which he identifies as a street in an abandoned part of Lumen that was renamed. He follows from a distance as Officer Hongmei and Officer Ding search for the address and sees them split up. Fake Li Qiuchen lures Officer Hongmei away by discarding his jacket and prepares to throw a molotov cocktail at her, but Dr Bai knocks down some bamboo to distract her and the molotov hits the wall behind her. Officer Ding is sure it was Dr Bai he saw push over the bamboo, and they suspect Officer Hongmei is being targeted for searching the back hill.
The digging team hit rock and Liu Simao gives them explosives and the mining timetable. At the mine site fake Li Qiuchen takes a pill to make himself collapse and he is taken to the nearby factory hospital.
In the observation lab, Expert Chief Chu also collapses shortly after taking his heart medicine and is sent to the hospital, appointing Ji Danyang to lead his place. He is diagnosed with malaria and the police team question why only he has fallen ill, and privately the Hospital Chief tells the Police Chief that it may be man made, and he wants to consult with Dr Bai for the best way to cure him. Dr Bai checks on Expert Chief Chu, prescribing him a pill to take once a day for a week and to rest in a quiet place. The police team review Dr Bai's words and think that he is giving them the hint that the factory hospital may not be safe - confirmed by their worry that fake Li Qiuchen is currently a patient too.
Ji Danyang initiates emergency procedures when one of the experts in the sealed cabin collapses and she is taken to the hospital, but the experiment needs 2 women to replace her and Nurse Bai and Nurse Shanshan are the designated substitutes. Officer Hongmei arrives as they initiate another exercise test and she learns that Nurse Bai is now inside the sealed cabin.
Seamstress Miao visits Dr Bai again to ask when Expert Chief Chu will die, but he predicts that she's not actually Snow Wolf and refuses to tell her.
The digging team sets off their explosive and Ji Danyang notices the vibrations in the lab.
.....................................
So the seamstress really isn't Snow Wolf?? Good for you Dr Bai for figuring that out. I like that Dr Bai is helping the police team indirectly, and he's stringing the spies along.
I don't really know what the KMT are wanting from having Dr Bai kill Expert Chief Chu with an "undetectable poison" that they wouldn't get by killing him any other way. His death would be investigated no matter what, so it's no different if they kill him with Dr Bai's medicine or with the altered heart meds or whatever it is that has given him the malaria. Are they wanting Dr Bai to be their scapegoat? Because that seems to be the only difference that I can see, you'd have Dr Bai added to the suspect pool. But he can finger the seamstress and Fake Li as KMT (and possibly the electrician as well) so that would just endanger them as much.
Ok so they needed women to be substitutes to keep the data even, but it looked like only one expert collapsed, so why was she replaced by 2 people? There must be a future reason for Nurse Shanshan to be inside the cabin as well. And did they seriously only have the nurses as the substitutes? Officer Hongmei or one of the other police women would have been ready to step up.
I am just waiting for all hell (and the ceiling) to break loose when the diggers blow a hole in the back of the tunnel, and quite possibly, the sealed cabin itself. Only 5 episodes to go!

Black Charcoal Detox Latte Recipe

{Tutorials|Some self-help training} {and|&} {helpful|useful|interesting|important} {updates|up-dates|posts|tips|info|information} on {staying healthy|being healthy|healthy living} {with|through} {Thai Massage|Thai Oil Massage}.

You’ve had emerald green matcha lattes, vibrant golden turmeric lattes … why not try a smoky black charcoal latte?
Activated charcoal is a trendy ingredient that you’re seeing in coffee drinks, ice creams, and even in specialty cocktails all over town. The charcoal adds a mysterious dusky hue to anything it touches, but there are reasons people are reaching for charcoal that go beyond the visuals.
Some people keep activated charcoal on hand for the occasional bout of digestive upset, and it has quite the reputation for relieving bloat in some people. Others are after its detoxifying effect, claiming that they notice a difference in their skin clarity.
Charcoal, Nutrients, and Medications
When consuming charcoal, it’s very important to take it away from food and vitamins, and stay hydrated. If you’re on any medication, ask your doctor about consuming charcoal, because the charcoal could decrease the effect of some medicines.
How Does Activated Charcoal Taste?
You may wonder if breaking open an activated charcoal capsule into your latte will make it taste like your backyard BBQ. Rest assured, it doesn’t. The activated charcoal doesn’t add much flavor-wise, and it certainly doesn’t taste burnt, as you might expect it to.
That’s great news for this activated charcoal latte. You’ll taste cozy vanilla and creamy, frothy milk, lightly sweetened. And who knows, your skin may take on a glow afterward.
Let’s make one.
Activated Charcoal Black Detox Latte Recipe
Ingredients
Contents of 2 activated charcoal pills, or about 3/4 tsp. charcoal powder
1 cup milk of choice (we used full fat almond milk)
Sweetener of choice, to taste
1/4 tsp. Vanilla extract
Pinch of salt, optional
Directions
Warm the milk in a small saucepan. Add the charcoal, sweetener and vanilla extract and whisk until combined.
Pour the mixture into a mug. Use a frothing wand to blend until frothy. Enjoy immediately.

A Necessary Pain in the Butt
There comes a time in everyone’s life when the need for a certain procedure occurs. It might occur due to age; it might occur in response to a problem. But either way, the moment will more than likely happen in your life when a healthcare provider looks you square in the face and says, “You need a colonoscopy.”
In my case, it was in response to a pain I’ve been having in my lower left quadrant. (That’s “doctor talk” for my left pelvic area) I’ve had the pain for awhile now. Years, actually. But as of late, it’s been bugging me more than normal. I would blame it on my left ovary if I still had my ovaries, but alas, that area is now a barren wasteland. All the reproductive organs hit the road twenty years ago, so I know it’s not that. I shared all this information with my new doctor who, after poking and prodding around said the words I did not want to hear: “Let’s schedule a colonoscopy.”
Not gonna lie; I threw myself back onto the exam table, rocked back and forth and said, “No. No. No. No. No.” My new doctor just stared at me. He’s not used to my ways. He’ll learn.
Now, a colonoscopy is a very simple procedure. The Cliff Notes version of the procedure is that you drink some stuff, go to the bathroom every 3 minutes, arrive at the hospital the next day, get knocked out, and a doctor sticks a little camera up your butt to check on the status of your colon.
It’s Colon Photography. Intestinagram. (Yeah, I’m pretty proud of that)
If the doctor finds anything odd, they can remove and biopsy during the procedure. This way, a little problem can be removed prior to becoming a big problem. So after resigning myself to the fact that this is what has to be, I sent the DH with my prescription to the pharmacy. The prescription was for the liquid that needs to be consumed to carry out “the cleanse.”
He returns with a 4 LITER jug. Yes, that’s right: 4 liters. It was so large it had a handle built into it just so you could pick it up. The jug had a powder at the bottom and the instructions were to fill it to the top, chill, and then consume it the afternoon prior to your procedure, a day in which you may only consume clear liquids. The instructions read to drink a glass every 15 minutes until it’s gone.
I thought what I assume most people think upon hearing the news they must consume a 4 liter jug of mystery liquid by drinking a glass every 15 minutes until it’s gone: this must be a mistake. I called the doctor’s office.
“Hi. I have a colonoscopy scheduled for tomorrow morning and I just picked up the stuff you have to drink. It’s a 4 liter jug. This thing is huge. My husband had the procedure a couple years ago and he drank a couple water bottle sized things and took some pills. Can I do that, instead?”
“No. This is the method the doctor prefers.”
And with that one statement, I know that the jug before me would have to be consumed. To ease the pain of consumption, they include a little “Lemon Flavor Packet.” I guess this is somehow meant to trick the mind into thinking it’s drinking lemonade. I immediately think of ways to make it better. Would they know if I added vodka to it? A quick Google search throws cold water on that idea. I settle on pouring it over ice and chugging it down, one pint glass at a a time.
Four glasses in, I begin to wonder if it was going to work. I mean, I have four glasses rumbling through my system and not a hint of it working. Maybe I will be the one person for whom the “cleanse” doesn't work. Maybe I’ll drink the whole damn thing and nothing will happen.
And then…it begins to work. And work. And work. And work.
It is working so well, I consider moving my office into the bathroom. It is working so well, I begin to be concerned. SHOULD IT BE WORKING THIS WELL?
By 8:30 that night, the jug is empty. I am hungry. I am cold. And still…it keeps working.
By 10pm, it quiets down. And as I lay in bed with extra blankets, I begin to ponder if this is what GOOP’s Gwyneth Paltrow feels like. I mean, people like Gwyneth pay a lot for these cleanses. They feel healthier and lighter. They get excited about them. I didn’t feel healthier or excited. I was just hungry and cold. I would have happily taken my cleanse money and bought a pizza.
Morning arrives and I roll out of bed at the last minute. No food. No coffee. No water. It’s in the best interest of everyone in my house if I just go from the bed to the car. My head is pounding. The DH drives me to the procedure place. I sign in, get my ID bracelet, and am told to take a seat. I pick the seat right next to the bathroom, because, surprise, it’s STILL WORKING.
I’m trying to relax. I’m a little nervous, not just for the procedure but for the anesthesia. I don’t do well with anesthesia. It always makes me sick. And while they don’t knock you out with general anesthesia, sometimes that “twilight sleep” stuff is just as bad. You wake up with a headache, nausea, disorientation. Kind of like me after a very good Cocktail Club gathering.
But I can’t relax. Why? Because some genius decided that the flat screen tv in the waiting room should be tuned to CNN. And on CNN, they are reviewing Trump’s speech in Arizona from the night before. The talking heads are tearing it apart, of course. And I realized that CNN is relaxing for NO ONE. This is not the channel you want to watch to put yourself into a zen mode. If you don’t like Trump, this analysis is just going to tick you off. If you do like Trump, then listening to them tear apart the speech is going to tick you off. You are going to be ticked off either way. You are going to be hungry and cold and battling a headache and a 4 liter cleanse with a lemon-flavored packet that is STILL WORKING and ticked off. The only thing worse on that tv would have been “The View.”
I get called back by a very nice prep nurse and told to put on the gown “open to the back” and climb into bed. My snark level is running high (I was hungry, people!) and I say, “Does anyone really put these on open to the front?” She laughs and closes the curtain. The DH gives me the warning look. But even he is a little afraid of the mood I’m in, so he doesn’t push it. The DH is wise.
I climb into bed, the IV is started and then I realize I have to go to the bathroom.
In an attempt to free himself from having to go get the nurse and be THAT person, the DH says: “I don’t think you really have to go. You haven’t had anything in your system. I think it’s just nerves. Besides, you’re already hooked up to the IV.”
“People with IV’s use the bathroom, you know.”
With a resigned sigh, the DH leaves to hail the nurse who gets me wheeled into the bathroom, where, yes, I did have to make pee pee. Huzzah!
I no sooner get back into bed when the anesthesiologist returns to go over things. I share with her that I don’t do well with anesthesia, so that’s the one part of the procedure I’m worried about.
“No worries, hon,” she says, “We don’t give you the twilight sleep stuff. We give you Propofal. You fall asleep in seconds and awake without nausea or grogginess. You are clear-headed and refreshed the minute you wake up.”
“OMG. That sounds great! Can I have some to take home?” I joke.
She gives me a look as she leaves and says, “That’s exactly what Michael Jackson did.”
And then I realized what she meant.
“O…M…G…,” I say to the DH. “Did you hear that? They are giving me the Michael Jackson drug! This is freaking me out.”
“Babe, they know what they are doing. They are legitimate healthcare professionals and you are not the King of Pop.”
They wheel me into the procedure room where I am greeted by sunlight coming in a window and 80’s music playing. The 80’s music put me at ease. I thought, “These are my people.” I roll on my left side and after a few more questions are asked and answered, the anesthesia is administered via the IV.
“Okay,” the anesthesiologist says, “I’m administering it now. It will feel warm going in.” I whispered into the pillow, “That’s what she said.”
“Okay,” she continued. “Here we go. You will be asleep in 5 seconds, so pick a sweet dream.”
I focused on the faces of my children.
I remember saying, “I can taste it in the back of my mouth” and “Oh…there it is!” as my vision split in two. And then…I was in the recovery room.
And I felt freaking amazing. I mean, I felt incredible. No headache. No grogginess. I was completely refreshed and ready to murder a breakfast burrito.
No wonder Michael Jackson liked this stuff.
I got dressed and waited for the doctor to stop by. To pass the time, I tried moonwalking, just to see if I could do it after the Propofal, but, alas, I still can’t. As I was practicing my MJ moves, the doctor came in.
Now, I come from a family with a long history of cancer. My mom, my dad, both grandfathers, numerous aunts and uncles. I braced myself for the news of what he found.
Nothing. He found nothing. Yessssss.
When I asked him about the pain I’m having, he said that over time, scar tissue can build up at the hysterectomy site and cause pain. I’m still not convinced that’s what it is, but at least I know what it isn’t.
“Wow, I am so relieved,” I told him.
He smiled and handed me color photos of my sparkling clean intestines taken during the procedure. “Your colon is beautiful,” he said, ‘it looks great.”
Yeah, that’s right. I have a beautiful colon that’s lemony fresh. Just like Mr. Clean was all up in my bizness.
I’m considering making it my Facebook profile pic.
xoxo
