I got tagged by @astriiformes to share some of the books on my to-read list for 2025!

A few of these have been on my bookshelf for a while, unopened (whoops), a few of these were recommendations from friends or mutuals, and others I stumbled across while looking for something completely different. I'm particularly excited about She Is A Haunting; the author's entry in the anthology Night of the Living Queers (ed. Shelly Page and Alex Brown), 'Nine Stops', was the standout winner of the entire anthology and should be one of those short stories you're required to read in ninth grade that haunts you for the rest of your life.

I've also been putting off reading The Angel of Indian Lake, because I already know SGJ is going to rip my heart out and make me say 'thank you'.

Honestly, don't give me nandermo if you don't feel like it (weird, given everything that has happened since season 3, but ok), but the only other possible ending is Nandor learning to be on his own and realizing romantic love won't fix all his problems and... idk, finding his own purpose beyond other people. Like, it'd make sense for him to end up with Guillermo; anyone else would be forced and detrimental for his character arc.

Also having the male character whose relationship with another man has been teased for years ending up with the only single woman in the cast after going "haha, let two guys be friends uwu" in every interview feels homophobic af.

"Bisexual people don't owe you being in a-" BECKY, I'M BISEXUAL, I ONLY DATED SOMEONE OF MY OWN GENDER ONCE WHEN I WAS 15 AND IT LASTED LIKE A MONTH, I KNOW HOW REAL LIFE WORKS, THIS IS A TV SHOW WRITTEN BY A DUDE WHO CRINGES AT THE IDEA OF US EVEN WANTING A QUEER RELATIONSHIP, GET OVER YOURSELF

And the Guide deserves so much better than them throwing her into a relationship that came out of nowhere just so a loser who can't be alone doesn't have to learn how to be alone wtf

In theory, if the show understood systemic inequality and accountability, they would have Home righting the wrongs that Kan is exposing, using his family's influence to put in place checks to prevent anyone including themselves from ever doing similar cover-ups, and then breaking apart the family wealth, and "righting" the family reputation that way.

But I am sorry to say that based on what we've seen, I am very skeptical that's what we're going to get.

I made a new website!

I really liked the cat idea and I wanted to try and mess around with html more, so this was the perfect project I could work on between work shifts :D

Here's how it's (hopefully) going to work:

I'm gonna put up a poll here every week to see what toy should be left out next and after the poll ends on sunday I'll add whatever wins to the site. I've already assigned a particular cat to each toy but it's not necessarily obvious what attracts who, so you guys get a bit of randomness c: (I also added an option for random just in case anybody can't pick but also because I realised I would have to vote to be able to see the results and I don't wanna accidentally skew them if they're ever close) For future polls there may also be special options marked with a * which have a little bonus surprise, but again, it's secret :3c
