lmaooo i don't think i have the mental energy to be coherent enough rn unfortunately 💔 but i do think people who genuinely believe lysandre's motivations make no sense are mixing up his motivations with the motivations of lower-ranking team flare members (which do clash!) and i wish people would think about that more instead of just dismissing it as bad writing i guess (not that i think the writing in pokémon xy (or even pokémon in general) is flawless bc it's not lmao.)

but i've already talked about this a little once. maybe someday i'll be able to develop it more

#la réponse d #and for the record i DO agree that his METHODS make no sense tho. bc they do. the team flare endgame is like... nonsensical #i think you can make it make sense if you interpret it as either 1) purposefully OTT bc he doesn't actually believe he can achieve it #and it's more about raising awareness/trying to get people to REACT than actually doing what he says he wants to do #or 2) man high on despair goes for the nuclear option bc he just cannot believe in any other alternatives (stubborn)#i think the second option is the one you can argue for the most with like... canonical proof #but i do like the first option as a thought exercise #however (going back to my original point lmao) i do think his motivations make perfect sense and he explains them multiple times #(i do think you can argue the first option esp in the light of him talking about being stopped in USUM. i think there is an argument to be #made that he wanted to be stopped. but you do have to also wrestle with the fact that he self-destructs instead of admitting defeat)#mfw i wrote as much in the tags as i did in the reply i'm sowwy
