And like that, MCASD's Education Team and TAGsters time in Chicago comes to an end. thank you Open Engagement for a great experience for the next generation of activists, agitators, artists, and educators. Sharing and inspiring. The Education Team took two teens to the Open Engagement Conference held in Chicago. These two participated in last year's exciting Teen Advisory Group in partnership with the Tamayo Museum in Mexico City, presented on their experience in the program tackling the theme of violence, trauma, and ways of coping through the lens of art and social practice, in collaboration with their Mexican counterparts in Mexico. An excellent presentation you two!

Super excited to present at today’s Pre-conference to @openengagement, “Field Notes on Justice and Practice,” at the @metmuseum! 🔜💭💜🗯🏛 Equally as excited for tomorrow, when—between 4-6pm—the @studiomuseum will host “#inHarlem Open House: Mindful Monuments,” a participatory program in Marcus Garvey Park that explores the conference’s theme of “sustainability,” by centering self-care as a vital tool for growing and sustaining engaged communities. Details below and online at studiomuseum.org! ☀️💕🙏🏾💕🌳 At 4 pm, join Studio Museum staff and Ayurvedic Practitioner @wolfmedicinemagic as we convene in Marcus Garvey Park for a series of energetic breathwork and meditative yogic exercises at the sites where #MarenHassinger: Monuments will be installed this summer. Monuments will consist of eight site-specific sculptures and use locally-sourced branches to create organic forms that respond to aspects of the park's landscape. This program will take place before the installation of Hassinger's artworks, providing a unique opportunity for the community take part in conversations around changes that impact their public space. With a focus on mindfulness, the program will encourage participants to actively observe and engage their surroundings and to think about sustainability from many angles. This inHarlem Open House is presented as part of #OpenEngagement2018, an annual, three-day, artist-led conference dedicated to expanding the dialogue around, and creating a site of care for the field of socially engaged art. Now in its 10th year–the last in its current form– OE will bring together hundreds of artists, activists, educators, students, organizations, institutions, and thinkers from every corner of the globe. This weekend i had the opportunity to participate in my first panels for @openengagement and #lakeFX and talk about my work with amfm. oftentimes it's easy to get caught up in the hustle and simply produce the work. it was a nice opportunity to reflect and view my efforts in a different way and share that with others and amongst other powerhouses in the scene i look up to. thank you for the opportunity!
