Simon ‘Ghost’ Riley headcanons

A/N: First time writing and posting headcanons so they are very short, kind of nervous lol but the headcanons are separated into on base, off base, and general stuff because I think he'd act differently off base/at home! I’m still learning how I want to format these :(((

On base:

- Doesn't sleep very long or very deep, years in the military and life on base makes him feel like he can't sleep.

- Not big on PDA, won't hug or kiss in front of the 141 but if you're both at the back of the car and no one's paying attention he'll put his hand on your knee/thigh or even hold your hand.

- Simon won't tell the others that you two are dating but doesn't care if you tell them, he's just likes keeping personal stuff to himself.

- He will however go to Price or Alejandro for advice if he hurts your feelings or doesn't know how to talk to you about something, you may not be his first lover but he's still a little uncomfortable in relationships and dealing with that stuff.

- Will tell you to be careful before Ops and always tells you not to do anything reckless, this doesn't apply to him though. He refuses to avoid danger if it means he'll be successful at completing a mission.

Off base:

- He can cook, it's not like crazy professional chef shit but Simon's been living on his own for a long time and doesn't really like takeout, so he taught himself the basics.

- Wakes up way earlier than you, if you wake up at 8 then he's normally up at 4-5 A.M. usually so he can get ready and do all the shit he needs to do before having to go to work or whatever he has to do that morning.

- Leaves small notes for you if he knows he'll be away when you wake up.

- Plays a lot of video games, he likes to think they're good stress relief but most the time he's playing online shooters (he really strikes me as a guy who would play COD if he weren't in it lol.)

- He does wear a mask off base but it's not his baclava, with the pandemic having come and gone he'll probably use it as an excuse to continue wearing one.

- If he's not wearing his mask, he'll definitely shy away from you/get embarrassed more often, the mask brings him a lot of comfort and confidence so without it he gets more skittish and fidgety.

- Iffy on PDA, he will hold your hand or have a (protective) arm around you when the two of you are walking outside.

General:

- Simon isn't great at communicating his feelings so he usually just hopes you understand how he's feeling but if you're not able (like me bcos of 'tsm) he will try to explain.

- On and off with physical affection, some days he really craves your love and touch while other days he'll practically avoid you because of the repulsion (not to you obviously but to touch as a whole, he could never feel repulsed by you!)

- Type of guy to if you tell him about your own triggers, he *will* memorize them! He doesn't want to remind you of anyone who has hurt you (despite his own struggles with harmful or destructive thoughts.)

- Doesn't tell you he loves you verbally, he'll buy you things you like or make you things and try to take care of you if you need it but can't say it. It's just who he is and it's definitely one of those things that he will not change on.

- SO JEALOUS AND POSSESSIVE, he doesn't view you as an object of course but he loves whenever he can do something that shows that you're his lover and his lover alone. You'll be covered in hickeys underneath your clothes (whether on base or off, the only difference is off base they'll climb up your neck.)

- Struggles a lot with self-destructive tendencies, if you do as well, he'll try to take on a "safer" persona and avoid doing anything that could encourage your behaviors. He doesn't like the idea of making you stress over him so he doesn't intentionally do things that could harm himself unless absolutely necessary.

Ok so I tried to read Deleantur verse like a year or two ago? It was a while ago, at least. I never finished it? I guess I wasn't in the right head space at the time. Still works out though, because I binge read the whole series in one day and fell in love with it.

The first fic is just ahhhh the angst and sort of found family vibes even if they are actually family, and healing and I just want to hug the fic tightly.

And then this ongoing fic is just perfection. How healing isn't a one shot thing, Deleantur trying to find a place in this new world while feeling a bit out of sorts/left behind/unmoored because his brothers are growing into their own person and have their own lives, and he's just, stuck.

He goes to Galahd and it's just hilarious misunderstandings and everyone is so confused, even him. I love the scene where he and Stella are dancing, it's just so fluffy and sweet, and he laughed! And then the last chapter with him taking on the role of king and leader once more because it's a duty and Noctis knows far more than most what it's like to have a duty and to be the one people look towards. But in Stella's pov, this is her husband, and she's allowed to be selfish on his behalf, because she can see how taking on this heavy mantle once more hurts him, and she wants to say no, to stop this whole thing, but she's the eldest child of the clan head, and she knows duty too. Just *chef's kiss*

I'm looking forward to see where it goes next!

So I have like…. 15 (!!!!!!!) fic ideas sitting in my WIP google doc where I list all my stuff so I dont lose track of them. 3 of those I have actually started in some form or fashion.

As for sharing; I think Ive shared all the ideas in some form or fashion but I am incapable of keeping my wips to myself so here is the start to the “Price thinks he caught his wife cheating but actually she’s just masturbating” fic lmao

The lines in John Price's face testify to the worry that nags him every day.

He’s paid to worry. His men rely on it to stay safe- not that they so much as actively do, but it’s the fear of failure -of one of them not coming home- that drives Johnto account for every possible course of action during an op, and come up with three additional back up plans for each initial potential course.

He accounts for everything. No detail goes unnoticed, no stone goes unturned. He doesn’t have the option of making a mistake. If a clerk files a paper wrong, worse case scenario John resubmits a report. If he does his job wrong? Someone very likely will die.

There’s many, many things in the day that worry John but you are not one of them.

Not usually, anyway. And the slight nagging sensation as he pulls down the street that you two live on is easily accounted to him projecting and empathizing with the plight of a young soldier John had come across while getting ready to leave base.

One of the corporals under Soap had left the day before once placed on leave, only to be back on base this morning.

John hadn’t commented on the corporal's red, puffy eyes. The man’s ego’s already suffered a terrible blow, and his crying being acknowledged by his captain would not have helped matters.

The poor sod had walked in on his girlfriend in the act with another man. Not so much as a Dear John letter, but letting him find out in the worst way possible.

And so John brushes off the nagging in the back of his brain. He’s a worrier, and apparently his brain feels like torturing himself with thoughts of how absolutely wrecked he would be if he found himself in the same position as the corporal.

He leaves his bags in the car as he parks, too eager to see you to bother with them. He can unpack later.

The house is quiet when he first steps in. “Darling? I’m home.”

He expects to hear an excitable “John!” and you scrambling to him from whatever room you’re in. Your usual routine ending with you flinging yourself into his arms.

He’s greeted with more silence. Maybe you’re in the shower? John has text you on base that he was coming back. But the house isn’t all that far from base. Maybe you haven’t seen the message if you haven’t looked at your phone.

He makes his way up the stairs, grinning slightly at the thought of catching you in the shower. He’ll need to be careful- that he doesn’t spook you thinking you’re alone in the house only to be found naked and wet. He would feel terrible if you slipped from fright.

No sooner does John reach the top of the stairs does his stomach drop clear to the floor.

He can hear the mattress squeaking.

Like Ghost is just delightfully traumatized and I wanna snuggle him and make things okay for him going forward.

And the ghost fics/ideas are definitely the ones I get more notes on but lowkey Ive been feeling Price lately and while the price snippets/fics have gotten good responses they haven’t pulled near the numbers as the ghost ones but I do not care lmao literally if anyone comments anything nice on my stuff Im so happy but I’m not like…. Gonna cater my writer with the purpose of getting the most notes (tho I am pleasantly surprised when something blows up) so whoever my flavor of the month is, isn’t particularly swayed by reader response.

And of course Jacob will always have a special place in my heart because I have simped for that man since 2018 and I *will* excuse the kidnapping, brainwashing, and cannibalism. Because he is my babygirl.

13. What’s a common writing tip that you almost always follow?

Show, don't tell. I am very intentional in the details that I include in my stories about characters' actions and expressions to show how they are feeling without needing to say it. I try to intersperse dialogue, for instance, with actions and the point-of-view character's reaction to what is being said. This helps me with my characterization quite a bit.

17. What do you do when writing becomes difficult? (maybe a lack of inspiration or writers block)

Usually, I try to work on something else. I have so many balls up in the air that I'll usually have inspiration for something that I'm working on. Working on a different project often helps me figure out what was blocking me on the other work.

If that doesn't work, I'll try writing out of order so that I'm writing something that I do know that I want to happen and then figure out how to get from where I left off to the new stuff.

Last night, I reread "A King and a Doctor" by @betsib, who is one of my favorite Lawlu writers. Go read it!)

54. What’s your favorite part about the fanfiction writing process?

Getting the ideas swirling around my brain onto the page. My feral brain is always coming up with story ideas, and I often lie in bed at night coming up with scenarios that turn into stories. Once those ideas get written down, my brain quiets down--until the next ideas pop up, haha.

Also, spending quality time with my blorbos.

I am very excited about the fic I'm writing for the OP Big Bang. I've been sitting on this plot bunny for two years, waiting for a Big Bang event to write it. Three clues: Lawlu, Flevance, dream-themed Devil Fruit

76. Did you have any ideas that didn’t make the final cut of (lead me back to suffering)? 

The main one I can think of is that Law was originally going to be working on the monument to Flevance when Doflamingo showed up for their final showdown, but I couldn't get the flow to work; in the end, the monument was revealed in the part told from Flevance's POV.

I also thought about including more instances where Doffy used clones of Luffy to punish Law but decided the first instance was powerful enough and that further instances would just be redundant so simply hinted at them happening off-screen.

OP you don’t understand, I’ve been thinking about this since the book came out- it hasn’t left my head for two weeks. While reading it the first time, I was almost (I doubted it) convinced that this was actually where the book was going for multiple reasons, yes his connections with the other Gods and him having to tell Will “the truth,” but also even with Persephone’s conversation with Will where she says to him, “But do you see the depths within him? Do you realize who he really is?” This line really had (maybe still has) the potential to have a lot of weight to it.

The other place my brain originally thought the story was going was thinking that maybe Will is a reincarnate. Okay here me out here- When the two of them first get to the underworld, even though it’s in his nightmare, and in hindsight it’s meant to be due to it’s similarity to Olympus, this line where Will comments on the look of the underworld fascinates me, “He had a confused feeling that he had been here before… His instincts told him this was all wrong.” You’ve been there before Will? Tie that into the fact that for the majority of the time they’re in the underworld, Will is losing his memories. We’re told this is a side effect of being the son of Apollo, but why his memories? It doesn’t make sense, unless- Will’s ~soul~ actually remembers being there and is rejecting being back in the underworld, he’s not supposed to be there again yet. I think this idea is really interesting because we’ve never really dived into the idea of rebirth in this universe, there’s the whole thing of getting into the isles of the blessed, so it’s not crazy to think some of the demigods could be on their second or third go.

But where do these two concepts tie together?? Zagreus is the God of rebirth. Let’s just say, for this hypothetical (AU, really) that Nico as a God, or Zagreus, or whatever, meets Will’s soul in the underworld, they fall in love, soulmate yada yada, they decide they want to be in love on earth, so, Will’s soul chooses rebirth and Nico is able to leave behind his divinity (I think he’d earn it back if he dies again tbh) and get reincarnated as a mortal. We have no clue or previous explanations on how rebirth works, but they end up getting split up. Through the power of cheese and soulmate shenanigans, Nico was put into the lotus hotel, bringing him to the 21st century where the two can happily be together. Yay. Zagreus really lived up to his title of the God of Rebirth and love can last through everything or whatever idk. It’s cute.

There’s probably a lot more that could go into this (love your tags about Nico’s powers being too much for him, chefs kiss) but that’s all I got in my brain right now- I just think it’s a cool thought and I need a 100k fanfic on the idea please :)

Send help, it's 3 AM and I cannot sleep because the concept of Nico being Zagreus—not the Hades character, the myth, although still from the version where he's Hades and Persephone's son rather than the version where he's a prior incarnation of Dionysus—reborn has entered my head and decided to set up shop for the foreseeable future. It actually feels incredibly fitting from what I know about the myth of Zagreus (which is admittedly not a lot) and aspects of the books like Nico's unique connections with both Dionysus and Hades in specific and the gods in general (and possibly Bob if we do some mix-and-matching of the myths, since Dionysus-Zagreus was dismembered and partially eaten by Titans on account of the Greek myths being A Time) and the whole "When the time comes you have to tell Will the truth about who you are" thing in TSatS that goes all sorts of nowhere. I don't know, obviously I don't think it's what Rick intended but I do think it could very easily fit into the canon of the books!

The drawback is that the item will slowly grow back to normal size and the power has to be reused they also have a limit to 4 things shrunk at a time not including themself.

four things/people at a time besides yourself was still a pretty fresh step forward, and initially you were very proud, but over time it just felt like less and less of an accomplishment. yes, tou pressed for a fifth.

and no, it wasn't going well.

during one training,, you were REEEAAALLY pushing. and aizawa was trying to help you w that, but he didn't realize just how hard he was pushing bc... well, naturally, you being more reserved, you didn't say anything about it. he didn't notice until you were bordering tears, and rather uncharacteristically starting showing how hard you were straining out loud.

"ah-... AGH! I CAN- I- HH-!!"

he started calming the pressure, realizing that maybe this wasn't the greatest ideas. and then a fifth object started shrinking. you saw it, and pressed harder, the motivation driving you, but then the other objects started growing. why was this happening? they were supposed to go back to normal on their own, a new shrinking object isn't supposed to effect them. why the fucking hell was this-?

you didn't realize his quirk was being used on you until you relaxed for a moment and all four objects stayed the same size. you tried catching your breath and then were aware of the eyes on you and :(

as soon as he blinked, you were shrunk down.

yeah, it was...kinda awkward. and you wanted to hide forever.

but then

a couple of them, namely momo, shinsou, the dekusquad, koda, and tentacole, showed up at your door.

and they. they told you how awesome it was that you made that bit of progress. momo even made little toy versions of the things you'd shrunk, and suddenly you wanted to shrink again HRNDN

Zhongli when just recently starting to integrate himself into human society meets a wandering Eldritch Diluc(who has temporarily decided to look like a man with fire for hair aka reds, yellows oranges and blues for hair but the eyes are still red) just going around observing people and just... vibing

But Zhongli being the old old crippling old man he is senses something off with him so he decides- like any smart person would -To invite this suspicious person who reeks of a star in all its forms- The birth of a star in a cluster of spacedust, The energy it emits as it lives, the solar system ending explosion of its life's end, and it's quiet death into a white dwarf -for Tea.

As they talked and such Zhongli kinda basically confirms that Diluc isn't really... quite human like he is but in a different way via Diluc just casually controlling whatever element Willy Nilly and not really worrying about Celestia(Why would he??? Also he's op but... man's just wanna vibe... he just wants to vibe in his garden....) tryna snatch him as a part of them and so-

Basically what i think is that each archon is naturally condescending to those below or perceived as below them

Venti can get condescending but only really does it when in 'High and Mighty Barbatos' mode to emphasize a threat and such. and I Think Zhongli becomes condescending mostly by accident because... he's old. He's deffo seen humanity as below him and has been condescending for a long time.

so basically- "Your Existance is... pitying." and Diluc retorts bluntly "But as least i can fly as free as the birds in the sky as you lay there shackled to duty for what may be an inconceivable amount of time."

Basically they start out rough at first, never see eachother again for hundreds of years, meet eachother again when Zhongli is what he is now in canon and he recognized Diluc(them eyes....) and apologized for what he said a long time ago and then both of them start to get along and BOOM old married couple vibes.

I do love your Zhongluc idea for this. And I love the idea that these two beings totally don't get being human, but want to argue and then slowly form a bond, and then before they know it, they are a family. And neither know precisely when it happened, but now they are really happy.

And Albeluc is also fantastic. I really do think Albedo and Diluc match really well with neither being too social and being outliers from mondstadt.

As for Dadluc. That is always welcome here. Because Diluc lacked a really good father figure in his life. And being so aware of himself. Might as well be tied with Bakugou for the #1 pro hero spot; they seem to pass the crown back and forth every other year. Everyone knows about their intense frenemies uber-rivalry. Well. Everyone but Shouto.

He's asked to speak at a lot of charity events. If he has time to prepare (and hire a speech writer) he is capable of stirring crowds to standing ovations. But if caught unawares... he gets cornered into hilarious on-the-spot interviews. He's been memed. Mercilessly.

He's an OP character, but unfortunately he rolled -500 in fashion sense. Eventually he wises up and hires a stylist. When he finally cuts his hair a slightly different and even more flattering way, it's a national event. People faint in the street.

Does god-awful sleight-of-hand magic tricks when he meets young fans, even though nobody asked him to. The second-hand embarrassment is palpable. But he keeps doing it. God, why does he keep doing it?

Has hovering arm syndrome in every fan photo.

Super into pop music. Not a fan of any particular group or artist, couldn't tell you the name of a single song. But every time he turns up the volume on the radio it's like... really? THIS? Probably pumps that shit through his hero agency to keep up morale. Has no idea what you mean when you tell him his music taste doesn't match his personality.

Similarly, he enjoys brainless romantic comedies and old silent movies. Doesn't laugh at jokes but loses it over physical comedy. Thinks Buster Keaton and Harold Lloyd are the funniest people who ever walked the earth.

He's long and limber. Runs practically a hundred miles every day just to "relax." Doesn't even get sweaty doing it. A filthy yoga addict. He'll probably live to be 200 years old.

He can regulate his body temperature for quirk use but in everyday life he's always half a degree outside the Goldilocks zone. It drives him quietly insane; he has an epic love-hate relationship with his thermostat.

Has a therapy animal pet. Doesn't matter if it's a dog or a cat or a bird or an iguana or a teeny tiny rodent. It's the best-behaved animal in the country and speaks more languages than you. It has its own room and an instagram account with millions of followers.

Lives in a traditional Japanese estate that doubles as a national treasure. Probably has government-appointed snipers at the gate, and he's just like, "don't worry about it." You are afraid to touch anything. Fuck, don't even look at anything, just to be safe.

Has an outstanding personal chef who only gets to cook five things unless (thank fuck!!) company comes over. Impossibly picky eater. He rotates between a few "safe" foods and suspiciously side-eyes everything else. If you cook something unfamiliar for him it will be the most awkward meal of your life, because he'd never tell you he doesn't like it. But oh lord, just look at his face.

This clashes directly with his love of traveling. Frequently uses his hero earnings to visit exotic foreign locales over long weekends... but rarely tries the food.

A grey-ace demisexual disaster. You could count the number of people he's been attracted to on one hand. He falls madly in love every time and always gets his heart smashed to pieces when his crush can't magically intuit the meaning of his frigid longing glances and generically courteous romantic gestures.

Which is stupid, because he gets propositioned constantly. He can't walk out the door without being flirted with. People keep slipping him their phone numbers and he always directs them to his agency like a moron. It's a good thing he will never understand how attractive he is because that's the only thing keeping him from total world domination.

Conventional attractiveness does not compute. Shouto doesn't have a type, doesn't care that he's an eleven whilst you are merely mortal. He will fall for your personality above all else.

Probably falls head over heels because your schedules overlap in a completely ordinary way and he witnesses you doing something endearing or brave or most likely: utterly mundane.

Pick a favorite, because you're his favorite coworker, or his favorite barista, or his favorite random bystander in line at the grocery store. You made him smile once; then he spent the next three months daydreaming about your future together before you accidentally stomped on his foot, initiating your first real conversation.

He's big on healthy communication. HUGE. He goes to therapy and it shows. Will talk through literally everything to the point of delirium. Sometimes his dedication to resolving every issue right away can get overwhelming; sometimes you just need some frickin time alone. But it pays off, because the two of you have practically never have a "real fight." There's just no way for bad vibes to fester.

STILL, his family wasn't exactly... erm... verbally or emotionally supportive, shall we say. Fabian dealing with his pride and ego, that while he has always been there for Nina he isn't her protector???? *chef's kiss* That even if he did the all protecting out of his own free will ( which he doesn't think he should be rewarded for... because fabian doesn't expect anything in return of being a decent human being, let's be clear here ) he still can't help the jealousy that he feels when he realised there is literally a special figure designed as "the Chosen One protector" and that it isn't him?!?!?!?I

And I think there is something about the way Fabian wants to be in "control" of the situation at all times ( which i think stems from anxiety and fear of losing said control ) and that him not being the Osirian is actually the first manifestation of this very fear that makes him sooo resentful could unlock such an amazing dynamic !

For example, Fabian seeing the way Nina and Eddie - that never spoke to each other until 5 minutes ago - immediately understand each other in ways the Brit could never comprehend? (like hearing voices, the world's fate on your shoulders??? y'know Chosen Duo shit💅) and seething in the background.

And while I don't think he actively tried to make Nina and Eddie feel bad about something they couldn't even control... it wouldn't have suprised me in the slightest if his resentment kind of made it difficult for him to really be honest with Nina about what was troubling him and made their relationship kind of strained ( because those two are so afraid of being honest with one another and talking about their own flaws because they can't help acting as everything is fine when it's clearly isn't 🤦‍♀️)

And I think it would have added another layer to Feddie dynamic... like -> " I would die for you... but I still can't help the resentment I feel for something I know you can't control." type of deal

Just the idea of Fabian and Eddie not getting along, just because Fabian is in his own head and his ego gets in the way of their friendship???? *chef kiss*

Idk... there is something about Sibuna and their undying love and loyalty towards each other and adding elements to their dynamic to make it much more complicated ( with anger, resentment and jealousy) but even with all those negative emotions, they would still be ride-or-die with one another, never hesitating to save each other over and over again -> makes everything much more interesting than "everyone gets along and everything is fine!"

I know that what i'm about to say is the unpopular opinion ( lol i don't think anyone suprised by that 💀) but i will say it nonetheless:

I really like the idea that Nina's Osirian wasn't actually Fabian.

Because if he was ( in my personal and humble opinion) it would diminish Fabian as a character.

Fabian doesn't need to have a supernatural connection to be there for Nina. With this, I mean that he doesn't need an external force that drives him to protect Nina.

Because then everything that Fabian did do, to protect her, wouldn't feel earned. It would be something that he did, only because he would've been compelled to do so, even if he didn't want to.

But if he doesn't have this external connection (that forces him to protect Nina) everything he did was out of his own free will, which means he willingly tried to take that step and keep her safe. And that is much better character wise imho.

And while there is evidence that Fabian was being set up as Nina's Osirian in S2, I'm glad the writers changed their minds, even if "Eddie' is Nina's Osirian" twist was handled horribly.

Ehe I have a lot to say and a lot of people to go through so...most will be under the cut. Like this is really just going to be me going on about what I like about a bunch of characters.

My works are a love letter to the characters nodnod y'know that quote--

Oh!! Okay okay uhhh here's a few of my faves and reasons:

Albedo:

There's a lot of similar interests-! Also being an alchemist/scientist is my dream.

His personality is very sweet and his interactions with others (like during the Golden Apple Archipelago) are hilarious and endearing. Like...the whole slipping away while Diluc and Kaeya were bickering? His little comment hinting that he had to yell at them while riding Dvalin due to the wind and their volume? Then every interaction with Klee (including his character trailer) are so wholesome uuuuu

Albedo, my beloved-

His outfit!! I want to get Albedo cosplay just for the jacket

Also his movements, attack wise, are very polished and clean-cut! It's pretty obvious that his style is similar to that of fencing, but then you also see that he often will condense his sword into pure geo or thrust it out in a burst of gold!! And his Q???? He snaps and then his burst just---bursts fourth out of the ground???

Man's skilled.

And then ehe...I just really am into the archetype of a smart, gentle, yet modest person and he fits that bill perfectly.

I can't wait to see more about him! We know such a small amount about him since his character story was intertwined w/ introducing Dragonspine and also more about him testing the Traveler--also we didn't get to play as him during it :<<

Xiao

He is a very gentle character who's been through so much and I admire his ambition and willingness and selflessness

I really like his attacks, too--the fluidity of his movements that ties in with his backstory and just his personality in general

I also want his outfit

There's just something about his character that is incredibly appealing--you see him at his worst with the Karmic Debt, the rawness of his personality due to his blunt way of speaking and the earnestness that he displays

Lots of quiet protection nodnod. You have to talk to one of the NPCs to find this out, but he helped a little girl get her doll back after it'd been taken by Hilichurls. He didn't have to do it because it's not something that people would consider important, but his duty extends beyond that. If he can help it, he will lend a hand

Also the interactions we have?? Like when he saves Traveler (the subtle shift of his grip on their hand, a little offer of stability) and then in Moonchase now?? *chef's kiss*

Xinyan

I LOVE HER

First off, she's a rockstar who's taken something and made it entirely her own?? Her guitar is of her own design too!! It's made to work with her pyro vision!!! Like how cool is that????

Her personality is strong, down to earth--ugh man she's so cool

I want to be friends with her so bad

She's absolutely strong-I personally built her as a phys dps so her shield doesn't really do much but man does she carry. If none of the boys can handle the job, I swap her in and she sweeps the field clean. Those mobs never stood a chance nodnod

Her aesthetic!! I also want her outfit. I want everyone's outfit.

While her en voice got a lot of questions/hate, I love it. I can't help but feel pumped up and ready when I use her skill and burst and she shouts out "Time to rock!!"

Her dedication to her music and unyielding determination to get her name out there is incredible, I can't help but admire her passion for music.

I just really love music, even if I'm trained more for classical + operatic ehe rock's actually my favorite genre so it's all the more better!

Xingqiu

Ah! The first time I saw him I immediately decided that I'd adopt him on the spot nodnod kinda like having a kid brother, y'know?? I think we'd get along well

Also the fact that he's a bookworm??? Again, I gravitate towards people who are considered smart--no matter what it's about! You could be incredibly knowledgeable about snails and only that and I will listen to you go on and on

He's a prankster! Poor Chongyun, being the butt of most of his jokes and all.

But like his character is really cute and I had a lot of fun listening to all his voicelines--there's a lot of funny stuff going on with him like his dislike for carrots, his handwriting-- but then he's also dedicated to his martial arts and helping others no matter the task! Very chivalrous indeed nodnod

I'll do roles first :DD

My favorite to play, hands down, are full on DPS and Support/DPS. Xiao, Kazuha, Albedo, Xinyan, Kaeya-- there's a lot but these are the peeps that I have, am currently, or would main.

I started off as a hybrid Kaeya main (some phys, some elemental), then Xiao's been my main DPS since!

Kazuha is incredible in tandem w/ Xiao because of his cc as well as his em buffs nodnod. Also Kazuha is just really fun to play in general.

Ngl, I think that getting and playing Xiao basically ruined all other characters for me because you can pry his attacks and burst plunging (very fun) out of my cold, dead hands (/j). The quickness of his attacks and playstyle--lots of poking w/ spear and then dodge + attack at the same time with his skill. 10/10 very fun, absolutely love.

As for support/DPS, this is more fun to do in co-op ehe. I usually end up playing Kazuha, Raiden (her skill gives all party members that passive extra electro dmg whenever you land a hit) or another elemental-based character--

That being said, elemental damage, when paired up to procc reactions is ugh sooo good.

I like the idea of XiaoVen, but I prefer KazuXiao because I feel like they'd work better together--this kinda goes over why. There'd be a lot of respect between the two.

Though, XiaoVen is really cute because they have complimenting personalities nodnod. Also froggie hat. And the idea of Venti being the one to play the flute that helped Xiao.

BeigGuang!!! Their dynamic is hilarious--not to mention that they do get along well but just so happen to butt heads often because their views are so wildly different-

YanTao! I feel that they'd be really cute together! Also Yanfei would probably make sure that Hu Tao stays out of trouble ehe...

XingYun! Very cute and wholesome--platonic or romantic, either way. The fact that they have matching friendship tassels?? Xingqiu seeking Chongyun out to read to him? OTL

I don't have any NOTPs, at least among the popular ships but I do get a little icky about AlbeRose because of some...unsavory experiences due to someone who overstepped. So ehe. We'll not talk about that.

But like Sucrose is really cute! I love her character and she's very sweet and the excitement that she shows with her research is something I relate to heavily! It's just--ahh the ship itself was ruined for me.

And you know... I think it’s really telling that he throws the Stevonnie proposal in, too. Yes, Steven feels more confident as Stevonnie, but he forgets the fundamental thing about fusion—the very thing Garnet had to learn herself throughout the main series. The components of a fusion have their own individual wants and needs. Connie wants to go to college. Sapphire teaches lectures at Little Homeworld. Ruby leads a scout troop.

But, of course, Steven doesn’t realize this part, because fundamentally, he doesn’t know what he wants, and he’s craving some sort of stability. Or maybe, more accurately, he’s craving someone to lose himself in. He can do that with Connie. He can do that as Stevonnie.

“Then why didn’t you stop me?” / “Because there was no future where you didn’t propose to Connie.” I’m just a little confused on this one. Is she talking about today or in Steven’s future overall (like, he would eventually propose to her years down the line)? It was Ruby who planted the seeds of proposal in Steven’s head, right? He was just looking for advice and wasn’t strictly thinking about proposal? Or, is the implication that even if Garnet had tried to stop him, he would have continued on anyway?

At any rate, this advice is really good—you can’t fill the holes in your life with people, even the ones you love, even the ones who love you back.

And I think it’s really good that Garnet acknowledges that she knows there’s a hole in Steven’s life, one she can’t fix either. And so maybe I’m answering my own question. Perhaps Garnet didn’t interfere because she knew that attempting to solve one problem, whether she failed or succeeded, wouldn’t get to the root of what’s really bothering Steven. And that’s why she was there for the aftermath and not the blow.

“I’m doing it anyway.” / Garnet looks down, her voice sad: “I know.” Because she knows, even now, that Steven stuffing his face with cake, isn’t a corrective to all the inner turmoil he has on the inside. And the sadness comes from knowing it, but being unable to do anything about it.

Because Steven ultimately has to be the one to introspect.

DSMP Tier List

This tier list was shared in a discord server I’m in, so I thought I’d give it a go. Not entirely satisfied with the section titles, so I used them quite liberally. I will explain why I put people where I did. On the tier itself I didn’t order them by preference but in my explanation I will. Please not that they will be ranked from favorite to least favorite per category (for example: I put Sapnap technically above Niki despite liking her character more) and not by how much they deserve to be in each category (for example: I prefer Technoblade to Phil but I believe people excuse Technoblade’s actions more than Phil’s). I encourage healthy suggestion in the comments since I only joined the fandom around the Green Festival and haven’t seen the history/POV’s of every character, though I try. Enjoy.

So the thing about this section is that I don't believe any dream smp character is completely innocent, so I used this section more like a top of tier than as it's title implies.

1. TommyInnit

Ngl, Tommy is my favorite character in the Dream SMP. As a fellow Loud Person I relate to him a lot and his feelings that nobody really likes him. His mental health struggles are close to my heart and (SPOILERS) his death just made me so devastated. I really hope they don't end his arc like this. Not when he was just starting to heal, please. Tommy has certainly done a lot of things wrong. I'd highly recommend watching the exile decision from both Tubbo and Tommy's POV's because you can really get a grasp of their mindsets. Despite this, he is my fave.

2. Ranboo

Until recently I preferred Tubbo to Ranboo, but cc!Ranboo just totally outdid himself on lore and acting to the point where I couldn't deny it anymore. Ranboo did do *some* things wrong, but they are less extreme than many on this list (I don't count things he might have done under Dream's control since he wasn't conscious). Ranboo's character makes me go into protecc mode. So yeah, very good enderboi.

3. Tubbo_

Tubbo doesn't have much lore for his character, but like I do with many others on this list, I like to overanalyze and interpret certain characters to be deeper than they are. The Tubbo I have in my head is a lot more complex than what cc!Tubbo probably meant to portray. There is so much angst potential with his character, similar to many others, but what puts him top tier for me is the emotional connection I have to his character and how I relate to getting so much put on my shoulders and having to make tough decisions.

Okay so technically Schlatt should be on this list if we are speaking from a narrative standpoint, but seeing as the way OP labelled the other sections on this chart I'm guessing they meant morally as well.

4. Alex Quackity

Quackity is my favorite adult character. I don't even know why, I just love the idea of this comic relief character becoming such a catalyst for plot and more serious as time goes on. I love taking the dream smp characters and making them deeper than they probably are, as I do with Tubbo, but now it seems cc!Quackity is fully taking his character to the height of his potential and I can't wait to see what he does with him next.

5. AweSamDude

(SPOILERS) As such a big Tommy fan I must admit, my first thought when Tommy died was that Sam was partly responsible. If Dream told him what he did to Tommy in exile like he claims then he would have at least put up the obsidian barrier between them or something. After watching Ranboo's most recent stream (right now it's March 3rd) I understand why Sam did what he did more. My initial anger towards him has dissipated a bit. I still love his character so much. He really did care about Tommy and now... dang. I can't wait to see what happens with him next.

6. Captain Puffy

It was very close between ranking her or Sam higher, but given all the in depth character stuff we're getting from Sam right now, I'd have to rank him above. Despite this, Puffy is a character that I started out not knowing anything about and am now feeling her climb the ranks in my books. Sometimes I feel like she's the only adult who actually put Tommy's well-being above other things, despite them not interacting often. I wasn't around for the whole "duckling" thing with Dream and have yet to watch the VODs, but I just want her to visit him now and punish him for the Tommy stuff. (SPOILERS) I can feel Dream's next ploy being trying to convince someone to let him out in exchange for bringing back Tommy and if Sam doesn't cave then Puffy probably will. Also, I really hope that her and Niki's relationship isn't forgotten. There's so much angst potential there. Also, I need sapphics to survive.

7. Eret

So, I wasn't a fan of the SMP during season one. I hadn't even heard of it except for like my friend referencing Technoblade now and then. After watching some VODs of Eret's I am slowly starting to fall in love with her characterization. I am so soft for their redemption arc, for the regret he feels. Now that cc!Eret is back from their mental health break I am so ready for more.

8. Fundy

Fundy's a character that I will forget how much I love until he goes live again, or until I reread his old quotes. He has a lot of lore to him that surprises you every time you remember. Whether its his last speech to Schlatt to COCONUT 2020, Fundy always gives the audience something more to think about.

9. "Ghostbur"

Ghostbur is one of the few characters who genuinely make me want to cry. cc!Wilbur's performance was both hilarious and immaculate. I really want to find out more about his lore, though. Do all dead people with unfinished business get an alternate version of themselves to roam the Earth while you stay in the afterlife unable to make contact unless the veil is thin? Was Ghostbur just Wilbur pretending the whole time? (SPOILERS) Is Tommy going to get one? Is Glatt canon? Much to think about.

10. BadBoyHalo

While I despise egg-possessed BBH, normal BBH has my entire heart. The fact he gave up his mind for Skeppy is *chef's kiss*. I am very impressed with everything cc!BBH is writing right now.

11. Karl Jacobs

My second favorite polyamorous dimension hopper after Star Butterfly (let me have Startomco please)! TFTSMP just gets better and better each week. His time travel shenanigans are so fun and mysterious. Karlnapity is just a big ol' pot of angst just waiting to happen. WEDDING SOON PLEASE!

12. Ponk

I don't watch him all that often since he's live during my school time, but what I've seen I love. Him starting that whole side plot expanding on that one TFTSMP episode intrigues me and I can see it tying into the egg somehow. Him and Sam are really cute together (/rp) and I want him to become more plot relevant again.

13. Antfrost

GAY CAT GAY CAT GAY CAT! In all seriousness, I really want him to do stuff with his character to make him more than just BBH's second-in-command (I have similar feelings with Skeppy, but I know he isn't very big on lore). Side note, but I really love the hc that RedVelvetCake is inside the egg. I want him to join so bad.

14. Purpled

I've only just started watching the actual clips from pre-L'Manberg times and Purpled was once much more plot involved than I thought. Him planning on getting his revenge on Tommy at the same time as the "police" investigating the Camarvan back in early season one was comedy gold. Shout out to BlueberryTV on YouTube for making it so easy to watch. In conclusion, we stan an underage mercenary.

15. GeorgeNotFound

Idk if this is a hot take or not, but I feel a good portion of people who love George's character are just DNF shippers who want to turn his crumbs into an angst factory, but you know what? Valid. While I am not a DNF shipper, I have seen the angst y'all have brought to the table and very much appreciate it.

16. ConnorEatsPants

The most I think I've seen of Connor has been the hostage scene and the non-canon party scene from this season. I don't have much to say except that his small speech to Tommy after he was let go about him not being a bad person despite traumatizing him hit surprisingly hard in the feels.

17. Skeppy

cc!Skeppy is not a big roleplayer, and I get that, it's just sometimes his character feels a little like an accessory to Bad's character. Please link me some good Skeppy moments in the comments if you can, I want to try and learn more about his character. His angst with Bad right now is top tier, though, and I choose to believe that Big Daddy Island is canon and that Bad took him there to keep him free from the egg. I actually wrote a fic about this if you want to check it out! Mind the tags, though, I went a little macabre with it.

18. HBomb

When I first learned about the SMP it was two nights before the green festival and I was up until 3am at my aunt's house reading the plot summary. The first clip of the smp I saw was the election VOD, where HBomb joined for the first time. I don't know much about him other than the fact he was Fundy's maid for a time and it was absolutely hilarious. I saw the recent stuff with him leaving Greater SMP to start over and enjoyed it. Hope we get more stuff like that with him.

20. Sapnap

I put Sapnap here because he's on his way to becoming an amazing character. The angst stuff with Dream is the stuff George fans can only dream of (pun unintended). I like how he went from the cop, the pet killer, Dream's right hand man, to mushroom cottegecore gay living his best life and dealing with the pain of losing his best friend. The whole "Dream's bitch" conversation with Tommy that I saw an animatic for some time ago made me hurt so good. Also #KarlnapityWedding2021.

These are characters who I somewhat dislike to a degree, but still have hope for. In my opinion this section should be switched with the one after it in terms of which is worse, but oh well.

21. Wilbur Soot

I know he's already dead but if he's brought back to life I want a redemption arc from him back. (SPOILERS) If neither him nor Tommy come back to life then dsmp has a horrible track record with killing off their mentally ill and (tw) suicidal characters. Wilbur has done some awful things, but if he's brought back I don't think he'd be beyond saving.

22. Jack Manifold

I need to say something about Jack. He is so very very close to being in the "you're trying your best" section right now after his most recent stream. His redemption arc is so close I can taste it and if he is redeemed right I can see him joining my faves. His most recent stream was just so well acted that my heart just wants to forgive him already... until my brain remembers he tried to nuke a child. Don’t know if this is also a hot take, but I think he had more of a right to be mad at Tommy than Niki did, but I know for Niki it's more complicated than that.

23. Niki Nihachu

There was a time that I adored Niki Nihachu and a part of me still does, but she has gone a little bit off the deep end. I do understand it's a trauma response, though. cc!Niki said that her villain arc is almost over, which disappointed me a bit because we kinda barely got to see it since it was so overshadowed, but I am also relieved. I just want my wlw baker back :(

I am just going to pretend that this section doesn't say "love". I still like these characters a lot even though they get away with a lot of shit.

24. Technoblade

I love Technoblade too much for him to be ranked this low, but like I said this ranking is based on fitting the section descriptions, not how much I love them. Technoblade's POV is understandable but also that doesn't excuse the pain he's caused so many people. L'Manberg was more than it's a government as much as Techno is more than a weapon.

25. Philza Minecraft

Philza deserves to be in this section a little less than Technoblade because I actually agree with a lot of what Philza fans say. Tommy is not Philza's kid. Phil has a lot of trauma around killing Wilbur, yes. I just don't see how you could watch Ghostbur's Friend speech during Doomsday and think he was in the right for doing it.

JSchlatt is an amazing character in many ways. The acting? Glorious. The dialogue? Spot on. With that being said, YAYY HE'S DEAD!!! I really like leaning into the abusive relationship hc with him and his cabinet. He was probably the most fun villain we've ever had, though.
