Tumblr already showed me twice a post where OP implies that Bruce made the choice to not help Jaybin when he was attacked by an angry mob in Legends, so I had to check, and look at that, they were lying.
Context: the general population has been turned against superheroes.
An angry mob does attack Robin, and what is Batman's reaction? To come to the rescue! He even immediately calls him "son", switching to an endearing term to reassure him. However, Batman is hit in the eyes with a bottle of perfume and blinded, as his attention was on his boy. Gordon tries to get him to leave, but he refuses because he can't leave his boy behind, and when Gordon tells him that his men will take care of Robin, Batman is like "I don't trust your men with my son". Batman is forced out of here, he is so pissef, and he is called "arrogant" by the cops there.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This man trusts ONE cop, and it's Jim Gordon, that's it. And people dare to tell me Bruce isn't an acab believer. He grew up in Gotham and his parents were murdered when he was 8, of course he believes in acab. That's why he was so against his son becoming one.
Anyway, later on, Jason is in the hospital (Bruce was right, Gordon's men didn't do shit), and Bruce is pissed at the situation. However, Jason feels guilty and ashamed, and Bruce immediately goes to comfort him, reminding him he isn't at fault for getting beat up, that Bruce is proud of him and that he is a great Robin. And when Jason compares himself to Dick, Bruce stops that too, bringing up that Dick also had less glorious moments like this. And again, Bruce switches to "son" and "Jay", which convey affection in the goal of comforting his boy.
Tumblr media
In the end, Bruce leaves his son safe at the hospital, resolved to not obey the president and get to the bottom of this. Later, Jason decides he cannot stay there and must help, even if it kills him. And people dare say that he wasn't reckless.
Tumblr media
Anyway, the other thing about this, apart from Bruce didn't walk away WILLINGLY from Jason being attacked by an angry mob, is that as awful this is, the writers never intended this to be a traumatic experience for Jason. Of course, it would be normally, but it's just a plot point here to get Robin away from Batman while he works with the other heroes. Damn, there isn't even a follow-up to Jason leaving the hospital, he doesn't show up in the next issues to help.
Sometimes, especially with older stories, comics' events don't matter as much as you think they do. If you want to re-imagine them as impacting for the characters, that's your choice, but let's not act as if they were intended to be. Because I saw that moment being used as a comparison to Under The Red Hood, to be like "see Bruce keeps abandoning Jason", and like, calm down with the shortcuts. Because you are making that up, on your own, with what was given to you by different writers over the decades that didn't communicate with each others or agree on the characters.

I think it’s interesting characters like Big Mom and slightly even gear five luffy or even Homelander or just generally any superhero from the boys. Who are insanely powerful but find fights difficult or hard against weaker opponents because they lack battle I.q and are easily distractable.
Very might doesn’t always make right.

Maybe it's hormones and mood but man... Sometimes I feel like a lot of people push a "This character is ultimately the strongest over any of yours" on me and I'm just like //scratches my head// sometimes. Not inspired at anyone or anything just a thought

Honestly the Contagion thing wouldn't have bothered me if they actually established in advance among themselves how new spells worked. Regardless of what Marisha reads or what Matt reads or what the book says or what wotc word-of-god, Keyleth would know what her spells do and it's so fucking disrespectful of Marisha as a player to not tell her that a spell won't work the way she thinks in advance
If it was clear that they'd decided ahead of time - before Keyleth cast it, or even better before she learned it for the day - to interpret Contagion this way, then I would have been fairly okay with it. But it's been part of a pattern of Matt undermining Marisha where her spells are concerned in a way that severely detracts from the story they're trying to tell. It makes Keyleth look incompetent and careless when she isn't either of those things.
And it's obvious she isn't either of those things because if Contagion worked as written, it would've been a really powerful, useful, gamechanging spell! And instead it was an utter waste, not because of Keyleth or Marisha but because they don't agree on the effects of these things in advance

My mom's spent a bunch of time arguing with me about how I should be a lawyer and I keep telling her I fucking hate arguing and conflict and the fact that I'm arguing at all is being used against me. :\
Also she keeps insisting I could do it because I'm sooo smart. There's thousands of lawyers out there who are dumber than me, that isn't the issue, the issue is do I have the temperament and how much more can my mental health take.

Sometimes I see a post that's like "I'm so sick of all [privileged group I'm part of] people thinking [something it never occurred to me to believe but seems obviously bad] y'all need to unlearn that stuff right now" and I have to try to figure out if
I'm actually an exception to their blanket statement either because I'm from a social context they didn't consider/know about where that belief is not as common or because they're exaggerating and I shouldn't take it so literally
it's so deeply ingrained in me that I can't recognize it when it's pointed out and I really need to unlearn it but I'm gonna need to learn to recognize it in the first place
they just phrased it poorly and I misunderstood and the thing they're actually describing is something I would recognize
Anyway what I do know I need to unlearn is the idea that I'm supposed to just know that and can't ask for clarification.

Just a quick heads up, another thing appeared in the files, just yesterday. It’s titled “fnaf9_xboxdlc_shipping. Now, I don’t know what “shipping” could mean, because it’s a dlc. But it does make sense for them to go from porting to shipping, even though it seems too soon to talk about shipping, considering it takes time to port. Of course, this is all just my opinion.
Hold on.
So you can not only track this kind of stuff on Steam, but you can also know when it’s been updated??
H u h.
To a layman like me, ”shipping” here sounds like they’re bringing stuff from the DLC from one thing to another. Y’know, like a mail truck bringing a package from a warehouse to your home. So, maybe they’re done porting but now they’ve gotta bring in extra code to make the thing run faster or smoother?
Idk, dude. I just report stuff as I see it. I’m obviously not the coding side of Tumblr. It is amazing that it looks like they’re still doing progress though! Thanks for the find, and thanks for reviving hope about getting DLC news soon! I was starting to get worried, tbh.

LibreOffice is an early twenty-first century open source document editing software. One of its features is offering autocomplete suggestions based on commonly typed words. Here, the suggestion is humorous as it changes the somber statement of "weapons in arsenal" (which is a metaphorical statement for tools and techniques on possesses) with the lurid imagery of a "weapons in arseholes" (which would be a dangerous sexual activity or a humiliating affliction by an enemy). Arsenal is a niche word in most contexts, so it is not strange for the autocomplete suggestion to be a different word.
"Arsehole" is a vulgar word in British English referring to the anus or unpleasant individuals reminiscent of such. In American English "Asshole" would be used instead, but "Arsenal" would not be confused with "Asshole" while typing the first three letters.
So close LibreOffice! The word I was looking for was arsenal.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

what people think chanukah is: jewish christmas funtime with presents and food
what people think chanukah actually is: a fight against assimilation! crush the greeks! cleanse ourselves of hellenization and return to our own ways!
what chanukah actually is: sike there is no actual meaning!! there is no true or pure origin that can be uncovered or 'reclaimed' for this holiday or any other!! that's not how judaism works that's not how culture works! whatever it means to you is what it really means! the hasmoneans themselves were intensely hellenized and the very idea of instituting a festival to commemorate a victory was a Greek one! but that's fine because judaism has always incorporated the practices of the cultures it existed within or adjacent to and that is a key part of why we're still here. and the fact that we resisted and retained our difference is ALSO why we're still here! [insert substituting one black and white view of history for another dot tumblr post]
me personally i see both the historical chanukah story and its subsequent presentations over time from maccabees to the talmud to the present day as a representation of this balance between integrating and isolating and the debates about it which has been one of the big questions of jewish communities for a very long time and especially today :))
