Cryptworm - Oozing Radioactive Vomition

December je taký suchý mesiac čo sa hudby týka. Väčšina dobrého už bola, a len sem tam sa pritrafí nejaký album, ktorý má možnosť zaujať. A tak sa stalo aj tento týždeň. Piatok to bol na dobré novinky slabý, ale Cryptworm vyčnieva z radu ako splesnuté vajce v krabici.

Anglické trio z Bristolu sa nepára s poslucháčmi. Od začiatku do konca je Oozing Radioactive Vomition nechutný album. Ale v dobrom. Hudobne sa pohybujeme na rovnakom území na ktorom operujú aj ďalší neandertálci ako Undergang alebo Sédimentum. Album je rovnomerne rozložený do šiestich hnisom presakujúcich skladieb, ktoré sa veľmi neženú za cieľom. Tempo je vychádzkové, ale nie je to pomalá prechádzka močariskami nechutného death metalu. Skladby ako “Engulfed by Gurgling Purge Fluids” alebo “Necrophagous” maj�� momenty, kde mid-tempo strieda rýchlejší poklus. Ak by to Cryptworm hrali rýchlejšie bol by z toho už war metal.

Nechcem navodiť dojem, že album je nuda rozdelená na šesť pesničiek. To nie. Toto je proste ten typ death metalu, kde sa nehrá o to, či to bude rýchle, alebo technické. Toto je presne ten druh death metalu v ktorom sa hrá o to, či to bude znieť ako nahrávka našich predkov žijúcich v jaskynniach. Oozing Radioactive Vomition si ide svojou cestou a popritom vyvracia všetko čo mu stojí v ceste. Predstav si, milý čitateľ, zosuv pôdy, pridaj do neho nejaké mŕtvoly, hnilobu a chcanky a máš to.

Tibor Hanyi predvádza za mikrofónom jedno z najlepších vrčaní a chrčaní tohto roku. Nechutné vokály, ktoré neotravujú a nie sú “až príliš”. Masu hluku čast strieda hopsavý, až gore-grindový rytmus, ktorý núti kývkať hlávkou každého, kto nie je úplný zombík. To všetko je podčiarknuté hlučnou basou, ktorá sa v tom všetko nestráca, ale dopĺňa celkový zážitok. Bicie Jamieho Wintla umne nesú všetko toto na svojich pleciach a udržujú poslucháča v strehu.

Oozing Radioactive Vomition nie je neskorý príspevok do TOP10 zoznamov, ale je to závan čerstvého hnijúceho vetra takto ku koncu roka. Cryptworm sú skvelou skupinou, ktorá má nakročené k štatútu solídnej death metalovej skupiny ak veľmi nestuchnú a nezostanú len pri tom istom. Hnilý death metal je síce sranda, ale nie dookola.

Hodnotenie: niekde medzi 2 a 3, ale skôr 3.

Hyello folks, I am back. (Not that there is anyone reading these.) I am receiving mental help, as well as financial help. My anxiety has been getting to the point of projectile vomiting. I am seeing a doctor for this. I have normal things to complain about now, like how its really fucking weird that over the counter uti medicine turns your piss neon orange. And the fact that a uti is an infection, so my snot is like neon green. Im oozing neon colors like radioactive waste over here.

Breast Cancer | Ankr Cancer Healthcare

What is Breast Cancer?

Cancer that begins in the breast when breast cells grow out of control is called breast cancer. The cancer cells form a tumor which is felt as a lump. It is common in women. Men can also get breast cancer.

When cancer cells are spread to other organs, it is called metastatic breast cancer.

Signs & Symptoms

Some symptoms of breast cancer include changes in the nipples or the skin of the breasts, swollen or stiff lymph nodes.

Diagnostic tests

Here are some of the diagnostic tests:

Mammogram: It is a breast x-ray that helps find early breast cancer symptoms.

Breast ultrasound: The doctor moves a small wand around on the skin. It produces sound waves and picks up the echoes as they bounce off tissues. The echoes are represented in an image on a computer screen. Ultrasound identifies the fluid-filled cyst or lump (unlikely to be cancer) or if it’s a cancerous tumor.

MRI: The radio waves and strong magnets help make precise images of the affected area. MRI identifies the size of cancer and other tumors in the breast.

Nipple discharge test: If the fluid is oozing out from the nipple, the doctor will send it to a lab to check the presence of the cancer cells.

Breast biopsy: The doctor removes the pieces of the cancerous part of the breast with a long, hollow needle.

CT scan: It uses x-rays to create detailed images of the body. A CT scan detects the spread of cancer outside the breast.

Bone scan: It detects cancer spread to the bones.

PET scan: It detects the cancer spread. The doctor puts a small amount of a low-level radioactive substance into the blood. The substance attaches to the cancer cells. A special camera shows any areas of radioactivity.

How advanced is my cancer? 

The doctor identifies the spread of breast cancer or the stage of cancer and decides the types of treatment required.

The stages are based on the cancer growth or cancer spread.

Cancer has five stages, 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4. A lower number means the extent of cancer spread is minimum. A higher number means cancer has spread maximum.

The breast cancer cells are tested for progesterone and estrogen receptors. Hormone receptor-positive breast cancer occurs when proteins are present in cancer cells. The doctor identifies the levels of the HER2 protein in the cells. High levels are high, HER2-positive cancer. These cancers are easier to treat. If both the tests are negative for any of these proteins, it’s known as triple-negative breast cancer.

It is beneficial to test the cells for specific genes, which can help decide the effectiveness of chemo and chances of recurrence.

What are the suitable treatments for me?

Several kinds of treatment are available for breast cancer, including surgery, radiation, hormone therapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and chemotherapy.

SURGERY

Surgery helps to cure or control cancer and make symptoms better. It is a common choice to cure breast cancer if not spread outside the breast. The standard type of breast cancer surgeries are lumpectomy, mastectomy, and removing lymph nodes from the underarm.

The common side effects of breast cancer surgery are shoulder stiffness, fatigue, lymphedema, change in breast shape, and numbness.

Ask the doctor about the kind of surgery needed and what to expect.

RADIATION TREATMENT

Radiation uses high-energy rays to kill cancer cells left in the breast, chest, or armpit after surgery. There are two ways to treat breast cancer with radiation. The first is by aiming the rays at the breast from a machine outside the body. The second is by putting radioactive pellets, or tiny seeds, into the breast.

The common side effects are fatigue, skin discoloration, nausea, and vomiting.

Most side effects may improve after radiation ends. Some side effects may last longer. Ask your doctor about what to expect.

HORMONE TREATMENT

It reduces or blocks the levels of estrogen, female hormones. It shrinks breast tumors or curbs cancer growth. Hormone therapy does not cure breast cancer.

The common side effects are headache, vomiting, diarrhea, and loss of appetite. Ask your doctor about what to expect from the hormone treatment.

CHEMOTHERAPY

You can take chemo medicines intravenously or orally. These medicines move into the blood and spread through the body. Chemo is given in cycles or rounds. Each cycle of treatment has a rest time. Chemo is beneficial only if cancer has spread outside the breast tissue.

The common side effects are fatigue, body pain, and hair fall. These side effects go away after chemo treatment ends. There are ways to treat chemo side effects. If you have side effects, ask your doctor for help.

TARGETED THERAPY

Targeted therapy drugs are helpful for breast cancer that makes a high amount of HER2 protein. These drugs majorly affect cancer cells and rarely normal cells.

The most common side effects are fatigue, diarrhea, heart damage, and liver problem. If you have side effects, talk to your doctor so they can help.

IMMUNOTHERAPY

Immunotherapy boosts your immune system to attack the cancer cells. You can administer the drugs intravenously, as a shot, or as pills.

The most common side effects are fatigue, cough, nausea, skin rash, and poor appetite.

What are the other treatment options? 

The other treatment options may or may not be standard medical treatments. These treatments include vitamins, herbs, and diets. Some of these may be beneficial. A few are harmful. Talk to your doctor about other treatment options.

What to expect after treatment?

You will always be worried about cancer coming back or a recurrence. After treatment ends, visit your doctor every few months. Keep all follow-up visits. Your doctors will ask you about the symptoms. A physical examination may help to suggest diagnostic tests to check recurrence.

PROLOGUE

After many months of sleeping near the bottom of the ocean, his last wounds and scars finally healed up from his last battle with Biollante. Godzilla stretched out his limbs, ready to begin his attack on Japan once again. He swam out from his underwater cave and began his journey upwards. After around an hour later, he reached the surface of the ocean and let out a vicious roar, signaling the King has awoken from his slumber.

Unbeknownst to Godzilla, up above were the M Space Hunter Nebula Aliens. They have waited oh so long to see the monster that ruined their invasion last time. They’ve tracked Godzilla since his fight with the plant monster without him knowing it. And after several months he rose from the water. They couldn’t attack while he was sleeping due to their weapons unable to go that far deep into the ocean. Nonetheless, It was their time to strike. They quickly cloaked their ship so the overgrown dinosaur couldn’t see them.

Godzilla sniffed the air. Something was off. He began to look at the area around him, checking in the water and air, but couldn’t see a thing. Godzilla shrugged off the feeling and ducked back down in the sea. His journey to Japan began, along with the Nebulan spacecraft silently following Godzilla. It’s been too long since he attacked Japan by himself. Usually there was some monster to bother him while he was attacking. perhaps this time would be his lucky day.

On the beach of Okinawa, a few kids were playing on the beach along with their parents. That was, until they saw Godzilla’s dorsal plates poking out from the water like a sharks, and coming straight for them. Adults scoped up the children and ran to their vehicles, but it was already too late, Godzilla walked up onto the beach and let out a mighty roar. His dorsal plates quickly turning blue and the King of the Monsters opened up his mouth. The screaming people were quickly reduced to nothing but ash in seconds due to his radioactive beam. Godzilla slightly grinned as he saw nothing remained, proud with his work.

Alarms quickly sounded off in Okinawa, alerting everyone in the city that a kaiju attack was about to take place. Godzilla’s grin faded and scowled. “Great.” He thought. Now he had to deal with the army forces earlier than usual. All they’ll do to him is slow him down so more humans can escape.

Several tanks rolled down the streets, trying to avoid oncoming civilian cars to try to escape the city. They got to as close to Godzilla they could get without being noticed by him, they began their fire. Godzilla looked surprised for a moment. They were quicker than normal.  Her turned to the row of tanks and snarled. How could they think they could distract him long enough? His quickly made them pay with a blue beam of light, incinerating them all.

In the Nebulan ship, the leader was grinning at the idea of Godzilla being torn apart and slowly dying. How easy it would be for them to finally win! They realized their past mistakes and other aliens. Just send their strongest monsters all out at once. The Leader continued to watch as Godzilla burned the city to the ground. Then a devious popped into his head. “Why not kill Godzilla now to see the humans cheer in joy to see the humans cheer, only to hear them scream with their own monsters? Oh yes.. That’ll work.” The leader then began to set free all the monsters.

Godzilla was already a quarter way through destroying the city, but suddenly had a bad feeling. He could sense a creature his size nearby. He heard a whirring noise above and looked up to see what it was, but was met with white smoke in his face. Godzilla hacked and coughed and fell to the floor. Only one thing caused a reaction like that. Hedorah. He wasn’t in the mood to deal with Hedorah. The flying black blob landed in front of Godzilla. Hedorah was suddenly flashing pink and red in front of Godzilla. Hedorah’s shape changed into something more humanoid like. Godzilla then pushed himself up and got into battle stance along with Hedorah.

Godzilla already hated Hedorah with a passion. his atomic breath barley had effect on the damn thing. He couldn’t touch Hedorah or his skin would burn. Godzilla roared at Hedorah, standing his ground. The Pollution Monster just responded back with a sickening gurgle. The top of Hedorah’s head glowed a bright red, his brain poking out from the top of his head. Hedorah began to gurgle again, simulating a laugh. His eyes glowing a bright red as well. Unfortunately for Hedorah, Godzilla just blasted Hedorah straight in the head. Hedorah shrieked in pain and stumbled into a building behind him. His brain retracted back into his body with a slow hiss.

Godzilla stepped closer to Hedorah and prepared to do another beam attack, but he suddenly felt his right shoulder being torn open. Godzilla roared in pain and backed up from Hedorah. blood was oozing out of his wound fast. No way Hedorah could have done this. There was another.  Godzilla then noticed something out of the corner of his eye. Something black and red and flying towards him rapidly. Godzilla waited for the flying monster to come closer before ducking down quickly. As the monster flew over him, Godzilla swung his his tail at the creature, causing the flying monster to crashing to the ground.

Godzilla looked towards the downed monster and scowled. It was the Cyborg Monster Gigan, rebuilt from the Final War. Godzilla’s blood was stained onto Gigan’s buzzsaw on his belly. Godzilla snarled at Gigan. Gigan never worked alone, too much of a coward to fight on his own. Him and Hedorah must be working together. This puzzled Godzilla due to Hedorah usually acting on his own. Nonetheless, Godzilla stared down the two approaching monsters and slowly backed up. This was going to be a tough fight.

Hedorah and Gigan slowly stepped forward, unsure what Godzilla’s next attack would be. Godzilla had to be smart. Both of the monsters in front of him extremely deadly up close, but weak from far away. Godzilla continued to back up before blasting Hedorah in the chest with a quick heat beam, making the Sludge Monster fall to the ground. Parts of Hedorah’s “skin” was dried up a bit, and slowly fell of, revealing a slimy texture underneath.

Godzilla continued to back up, his sights now focused on Gigan. The Cybernetic Kaiju soon ran towards Godzilla, Godzilla turning around to smack Gigan with his tail again, but was met with extreme pain. He looked to see what had happened, and saw that the tip of his tail was only hanging by a thread. Godzilla’s blood was now starting to pour onto the abandoned streets.

Godzilla shook off the pain and looked forward at Gigan, who was already close and had his hand scythe about to cut into Godzilla. Thinking quickly, he used his own hands to block the attack. Although Godzilla’s hand was cut into and started bleeding, it could have been much worse. Godzilla grabbed onto Gigan’s hand and pulled him to the ground. Gigan yelped as he collided down with the hard ground.

Looking quickly at his wounds, it angered him the he’d let Gigan that close to him. Suddenly, building behind him started to explode rapidly. Godzilla looked towards them and stared into smoke from the buildings. He then noticed a yellow glow. A rainbow beam shot from it’s eyes, but Godzilla fired back with his own atomic breath, creating a beam battle. Using all the strength he had, he pushed the multicolored beam back into Mechagodzilla’s, the Metal Copy, face.

The King let out a victorious roar glared at Gigan, who was just getting back up from the ground. He turned and what Gigan back down with his tail, but as he turned, He saw Hedorah was right behind him. Hedorah had sneaked up while he was distracted with the other two kaiju. It was too late for Godzilla to do anything as Hedorah tackled Godzilla to the ground.

Godzilla groaned as he tried to push Hedorah off of him, but was met with no success. Her god barley breath, and the smell of Hedorah was ungodly! It was then Godzilla felt Hedorah releasing his putrid slime onto him. Godzilla roared in pain as he felt his skin burning away from the sludge, and this is what Hedorah was waiting for. He quickly shot a muck ball into Godzilla’s mouth, making it hit the back of Godzilla’s throat.

As the glob of muck began sliding down Godzilla’s throat, he tried to push the thing out, but to no avail. The taste.. Was the absolute worst thing he had to experience. He began to gag unintentionally as he felt his throat start to bleed and burn. Godzilla’s stomach started to churn before vomit started to make it’s way out of Godzilla’s mouth. His barf pushing most of the black goop from his mouth and into Hedorah’s face.

Godzilla felt disgusted and humiliated. This was even worse than the battles with Hedorah before! He was covered in his own blood and vomit and very weak. Hedorah let out a small chuckle after seeing Godzilla in such pain and agony. There was no way for Godzilla to win. He couldn’t fight all the monsters in a state like this. Hedorah stood up to let the last monster get the killing blow. Godzilla could barley move. He felt tired. As he closed his eyes, he swore he heard a cackle, not from Hedorah. But another foe. King Ghidorah. But he couldn’t do a damn thing now. He had to rest and heal. for now at least. He would wake up, again he thought. That was the last thought he had before a golden foot landed on Godzilla’s head, snapping his neck, killing the old King of the Monsters. Now Ghidorah would take the crown, and be the destroyer of Earth.

Top Albumy 2023

Je koniec decembra začiatok januára, čas povedať svetu o tom ako veľmi zle na tom môj vkus je. Ale nie je. To je len suchý, sebakritický humor. Tento rok bol podľa mňa skvelý čo sa metalu týka a zostaviť nejaký rebríček nebola jednoduchá záležitosť.

Všeobecne si myslím, že na tom bol tento rok najlepšie death metal. Rozmanitosť a smery, ktorými sa vidal v roku 2023 boli zaujímavé a ponúkli úžasný bufet smrti. Prvé miesto v mojom rebríčku si však death metal neodniesol. Tvorí presnú polovicu TOP10ky. A to je celkom dosť.

Zvyšok dopĺňajú nedeath metalové žánre, žiadny však nie je tak úplne mimo ako minulý rok, keď sa na prvom mieste umiestnil album Close od talianskych doomerov Messa. Kto tento rok vyhral preteky o pomyslený pohár? Začneme od spodku s poslednou 15kou.

Zoradiť tieto albumy bol nadľudský výkon. Všetky sú excelentné a rozdeľujú ich len malilinké detaily. Nemôžem však nechať všetko na mieste číslo 16, takže tak. Poďme teraz na 5 honorable mentions, alebo teda čestné uznania za zásluhy tento rok.

15 Dryad - The Abyssal Plain (black metal, USA) BC

Ak chcete ochutnať ako asi chutí peklo, ktoré zároveň nie je karikatúrou Danteho diela, tak si pustite Dryad. Strašidelná, ponurá a moderná atmosféra.

14 Nothingness - Supraliminal (death metal, USA) BC

Zároveň aj víťaz kategórie prekvapenie roka a obal albumu roka. Nekompromisný death z Minnesoty, plný chytľavých riffov a prekvapivých melódií.

13 Vanishing Kids - Miracle of Death (doom, USA) BC

Doom metal s nádychom 80s a gothic rocku. Jedinečný zvukový zážitok, krásny a ponurý ženský vokál so všadeprítomnými, ale nevtieravými varhanmi.

12 Mortuary Drape - Black Mirror (blackdeath, Taliansko) BC

Žijúce legendy žánru sa vrátili po deviatich rokoch s albumom, ktorý každého kopne do zadku. Exkluzívna basa, ktorá nastavuje tón celému albumu.

11 Ascended Dead - Evenfall of the Apocalypse (death metal, USA) BC

Beštiálny death metal. 41 minút dlhý útok na vaše zvukovody, popretkávaný majstrovskými riffmi a sólami.

Top 10

Rebríček ako taký mi trvalo zoradiť celkom dlho. Rok 2023 bol prekvapivo plný kvalitného materiálu a vyberať bolo z čoho.

10. Ulthar - Helionomicon (blackdeath, USA) BC

Ulthar je jednou z tých kapiel, ktoré si nerobia ťažkú hlavu s tým čo sa má a čo nie. Za prvé je ich verzia blackdeathu nepopísateľná (posnažím sa) a za druhé vydali naraz dva albumy. Anthronomicon sa umiestnil na 24. mieste a bol to vlastne taký tradičný album v zmysle, že obsahoval viac ako dve skladby. Helionomicon je pre mňa jednoznačne lepším albumom. Dve 20+ minútové skladby nesú v sebe všetko čo Ulthar potrebujú poslucháčovi predviesť. Kozmický útlak prenesený na poslucháča formou dlhých kompozícií a uletených nápadov. Takto si predstavujem black metal, keby ho nahrali mimozemšťania a nie ľudia.

9. Torture Rack - Primeval Onslaught (death metal, USA) BC

Keby každá kapela naprieč žánrami robila veci tak ako Torture Rack už dávno by sme mali interstelárny cestovný ruch, svetový mier a vrecká na dámskych nohaviciach. Pretože Torture Rack sa s ničím neserie. Primeval Onslaught má niečo cez 26 minút no aj tak je tam 10 skvelých skladieb. 26 minút plných s ničím sa nebabrajúceho death metalu. Basa je hlavný nástroj smrti na tomto skvelom albume a každá skladba je rýchly sled udalostí po ktorých zostávajú len krvavé telá. Žiadne intrá, žiadne zložité kompozície, len jednoduchý, úderný a rýchly death metal. Tak ako to má byť.

8. Moonlight Sorcery - Horned Lord of the Thorned Castle (meloblack, Fínsko) BC

Melodický black metal. To môže často byť pasca. Častokrát sa za tým skrýva len black metal s nejakými klávesami pridanými ako nálepka na knihu, ktorá vás láka na to pozrieť si zfilmovanú podobu. Moonlight Sorcery je niekde inde. Rovnako ľahko by sa dali zaškatuľkovať aj ako extrémny power metal. Pretože toto je najmelodickejší, najdivokejší, najgýčovejší, najnačančanejší black metal aký som počul. Jedna vypaľovačka za druhou, Moonlight Sorcery nahrali album, ktorý má tendenciu sa časom len zlepšovať.

7. Thy Catafalque - Alföld (avantgarde metal, Maďarsko) BC

Keď sa povie metal, asi nie každý si predstaví nekonečné horizonty rozľahlej puszty u našich južných susedov. Thy Catafalque je klenotom maďarskej hudobnej scény. 26 rokov už Tamás Kátai produkuje avantgardnú a tvrdú muziku a tento rok vyprodukoval jeden z mojich najhranejších albumov. Thy Catafalque v podstate vždy robil zaujímavú muziku, ale vždy mi tam niečo chýbalo, niečo čo by ma ťahalo k albumom späť. To sa zmenilo pri Alföld. Album je tvrdší ako zvyčajne, má neočakávanú hrubosť, ktorú excelentne strieda s krásnou jemnosťou a folkovými náznakmi. Nie nadarmo je toto asi najobľúbenejší album môjho päť ročného syna. Vždy sa teším ako v aute zahlási: "Ocko, ja chcem tú tetu čo spieva po maďarsky" ako povel na pustenie skladby "Alföld".

6. Hellripper - Warlocks Grim & Withered Hags (blackened speed, Škótsko) BC

Relatívne mladý žáner, ktorý však svojou tradíciou siaha v podstate do začiatkov metalu ako takého. Blackened speed, alebo blackened thrash je žáner, ktorý nadväzuje na krátke obdobie pred vznikom 2nd wave black metalu. Na skupiny ako Venom, Bathory. Na neviazanú zábavu, plnú riffov a sól a prihlúplych textov o diablovi a kozách (zvieratách). Hellripper je zavedenou značkou v tomto malom mikrokozme (haha mikrokoza) a v poradí už tretí štúdiový album je podľa mňa aj doteraz najlepším. Už to nie je len obyčajný pocta legendám a zámienka na nahranie jednoduchého a zábavného albumu. Warlocks je solídny metal s vlastnými črtami a hlbšími úmyslami ako u niektorých súputníkov. James McBain ako jediný člen tejto "skupiny" napísal naozaj skvelý album a povzniesol blackened speed na viac ako len poctu jeho vzorom. Tento album bude slúžiť ako predloha budúcim generáciám metalových hudobníkov.

5. Malokarpatan - Vertumnus Caesar (black/heavy metal, Slovensko) BC

Slovenská metalová scéna potrebovala dobrú kapelu ako soľ. V roku 2015 túto soľnú dieru zaplnil Malokarpatan. Ich zmeska black metalu a heavy metalu v štýle Mercyful Fate krížených so starým Bathory si okamžite s vydaním prvého albumu Stridžie Dni získala fanúšikov po celom svete. Vertumnus Caesar je v poradí štvrtá platňa a ako je pri Malokarpatan zvykom, každý album je iný. Tentokrát je album ladený viac do heavy metalu a Malokarpatan pridali viac na produkcii a na klávesoch. Nič to však nemení na tom, že je to stále ešte ten istý dravý a temný Malokarpatan ako ho poznáme. Nekonečné riffy a umné sóla ma držali vždy v strehu a každým ďalším počutím tohto albumu som v ňom našiel nové miesta do ktorých sa mohla moja myseľ spokojne uložiť.

4. Autopsy - Ashes, Organs, Blood and Crypts (death metal, USA) BC

Čo by to bol za Bobov rebríček bez Autopsy? Aj keby znovu vydali Shitfun tak by boli v TOP10. Autopsy je legenda death metalu a momentálne asi najlepšia stará formácia vydávajúca nové albumy. Ashes je ešte lepší album ako minulorčný, výborný Morbidity Triumphant . Reifertove vokály sú ešte šialenejšie ako zvyčajne, dosť často sa objavujú v nevídaných výškach. Duo Coralles/Cutler sa predbieha v tom, kto zahrá lepší riff a kto to potom zaklincuje šťavnatejším sólom. Úplne najlepšie je na tom najnovší člen, basák Greg Wilkinson. Ten sa už podieľal aj na minuloročnom albume, ale až na Ashes je jeho hra na basu oveľa viac zreteľná a prekvapivo "sabbathovská". A to celému albumu len prospelo. Last.fm mi na konci roka povedalo, že toto bol jednoznačne môj najhranejší album a to právom.

3. Horrendous - Ontological Mysterium (death metal, USA) BC

Horrendous je skupina s ktorou mám komplikovaný vzťah. Niežeby ich doterajšie albumy nestáli za nič, ale nikdy mi to s nimi neklaplo natoľko, aby som sa k ním často vracal. Ontological Mysterium je však konečne výnimka. Z albumu cítiť takú radosť, že sa vždy nevedomky začnem pri tom usmievať ako úplný kretén. Majstrovsky poskladané skladby, poprepletané neuveriteľnými kúskami na gitarách a cválajúca basa, ktorá pľundruje všetko okolo. Horrendous nahrali skvelý album, ktorý podľa mňa zlepšil ich tvorbu o niekoľko levelov. Vždy, keď počujem začiatok skladby "Neon Leviathan" a ten neskutočný basový groove, mám chuť si vyzliecť tričko a chlastať pivo. A skákať. Ale keďže som už starý mileniál, tak si musím vystačiť aj so svojím priblblým úsmevom.

2. Tomb Mold - The Enduring Spirit (death metal, Kanada) BC

Správa o tom, že Tomb Mold idú vydať nový album prišla ako blesk z jasného neba. A prišla asi tak dva týždne pred skutočným vydaním albumu? Absolútna pecka, ale aj trochu strach z tak nečakanej udalosti. Tomb Mold sú momentálne jednou z najospevovanejších death metalových skupín a nový album znamená tvrdú kritiku. Hneď po prvom vypočutí mi bolo jasné, že tu sa nič strašné nedeje. Naopak, toto bol kandidát na prvú trojku hneď zo začiatku. The Enduring Spirit nie je obyčajný album. Je to niečo, čo sa dá najlepšie opísať ako "krásny death metal". Je tu cítiť veľký vplyv Dream Unending a nie je to na škodu. Krásne melodické pasáže sa pokojne vlievajú to divokej rieky premysleného death metalu a miešajú sa do až priam exotického zážitku. Tomb Mold povzniesli svoje remeslo do enormných výšin a každý ďalší ich album sa bude musieť porovnávať s úspechom The Enduring Spirit.

Spirit Possession - Of The Sign... (black metal, USA) BC

Priznám sa, že som o Spirit Possession doteraz nepočul. A keď som prvýkrát počul Of The Sign... tak som mal pocit, že som sa dostal do dadaistickej nočnej mory v ktorej úraduje schizofrénia. Takýto black metal je o to zaujímavejší, že vie navodiť ozaj strašidelnú atmosféru a nemusí sa pri tom jednať o zle nahrané demo nahrávky z nórskych lesov. Spirit Possession sa pohybujú v niekoľkých rovinách zároveň, občas sa jeden, alebo druhý člen presunie do druhej, alebo všetko existuje všade a zároveň. Zvukovo je toto jeden z najnápaditejších albumov posledných rokov, poslucháča necháva v nemom úžase (alebo hrôze, voľba je na poslucháčovi). Of The Sign... nie je ľahko stráviteľná muzika. Je to atak na všetky emócie, úmyselný a premyslený. Gitary vychádzajúce zo všetkých dimenzií podporené zhrýzavým vokálom a podčiarknuté gniavivou atmosférou nenechajú nikoho odtrhnúť uši od reprákov. Spirit Possession vydali album tak strašne strašidelný, že si proste zaslúžili to prvé miesto.
