Excerpt below:
“Over here!” a voice calls softly.
Gale has seated himself upon the grass, a blanket spread neatly beneath him and what appears to be the remnants of ritual components. His hands conduct the illusion like an orchestra as they dance soundlessly overhead.
“I was looking for you,” Church mutters wryly, seating himself carefully upon the blanket. Gale’s face is notably serene, rather than the troubled expression that furrowed his brow days earlier. “You’ve been here the whole time?”
“Not quite,” Gale murmurs as he carefully arranges a constellation of stars above them. “I walked around a fair bit. Talked to some of our allies — Halsin, mainly. Took care of a few things. Prepared a few… missives,” he hesitates. “There was one thing left to do, and it was to apologize to you.”
Church huffs a laugh. “I’m not one for grand gestures, but this… this is a nice change,” he admits, scanning the sky. “As far as an apology goes… I’m not sure it’s merited. Not on your part, at any rate.”
Gale shakes his head, flicking away a few stars. “There I was, spouting on about some noble sacrifice I had to make, when I had been berating you for the very same thing.”
“It’s not the same,” Church admits. “You were tasked by a goddess to do something that will save the world. I’ve got a couple of mad fey luring me into another deal for my own selfish reasons.”
Gale frowns. “Wanting to continue one’s existence isn’t selfish.”
Church shoots him a wry glance. “That’s what I’ve been trying to say to you, isn’t it?”
Gale chuckles, casting his eyes back up.
“So you’ve already spoken with Halsin, then?” Church inquires. “I was going to ask you to help. His diagrams were a bit confusing…”
“I have prepared the relevant components and charts for the Harpers,” Gale assures him absently. “It is too soon to prepare such rituals for them to remain potent for Halsin’s endeavor. We have… some time.”
“And you’ve made use of it,” Church follows his eyes back up to the starry sky. “I should’ve known this was your doing. It’s beautiful.”
“Indeed. The curse is still present of course — just veiled and at arm’s length for now. Not a trick I can repeat often, but tonight?” Gale’s voice falters. “Tonight is different.”
He exhales wistfully. “I love this time of night. There’s an almost reverent silence that accompanies the peak of darkness, when you’d almost believe the dawn will never break.”
He gestures a hand grandly across the view. “The timelessness of lovers. The most beautiful of fantasies.”
Church eyes him with concern.
“You’re sounding particularly philosophical,” he remarks cautiously. “Are you alright?”
Gale huffs a cheerless laugh.
“I will be, soon,” he nods grimly to himself. “I am perhaps just one hard day away from being without any troubles at all. Any night might be my last alive. If it is this one, then… I wanted it to be under a canopy of beauty and wonder… and with company to match,” he adds with a smile, nudging Church playfully.
But his smile falters as the tiefling continues to scrutinize him.
“I thought this place might bring me peace. I thought it might make the weight of what I must do feel a little lighter…” Gale looks down, face falling. “...but I am not so sure.”
Finally, Church lets out a harsh sigh. “Fuck it. You know I wasn’t going to drop it — is this truly what you want? To die for the promise of Mystra’s forgiveness?”
Gale smiles bitterly. “Babe or crone, coward or hero, death is assured. Mystra’s forgiveness is not. If you knew the end was near, would you not want to ensure it had meaning?”
He glances back up at him, troubled. “I am… terrified,” he admits. “I will not claim otherwise. My face could scarcely conceal it even if my words sought to deny it.”
“This isn’t the end,” Church insists fervently. “Not yet. We still have some time. We still have questions that need answers. We…”
“Church… thank you. But even if we do find another way, perhaps this is the right way. The end fate wishes for me.” Gale nods to himself. “There is no point running from the inevitable. Better to meet it, on my own terms.”
“Nothing is inevitable,” Church retorts fiercely. “Not when we face it together. I don’t have to die. And you don’t have to die.”
“Yes,” Gale chuckles. “But there is so much to live for, and so few moments in which to house it all.”
Church takes his hand. “But there are moments,” he says fervently.
Gale chuckles. “Believe me, one moment in your company has often been enough to prise the fear from my heart. And I…” he hesitates. “I have missed your company, my friend. These past couple days. And I’m so very glad you came here to share this with me.”
He gestures vaguely up at the sky.
“I know that this is unreal, but I created it for you.” He looks shyly over at Church. “You must know that you’re… you’re very special to me.”
The wizard feels warm nestled against Church’s side, seated in this protected corner of the cursed land. Church’s heart throbs with fondness, but also some trepidation. Where is he going with this?
“The point is…” Gale looks up into the sky. “…time is short. Every day, every moment is uncertain.”
“I thought we’d have more time,” Church whispers in agreement.
They sit in companionable silence for a long moment longer, watching the aurora the wizard had conjured ripple shimmer across the sky in wide, iridescent stripes.
“I… want to show you something,” Gale says. “If this were to be the last night of my life, I think I’d like to share in the Weave with you. Take you somewhere that isn’t the Shadowlands.”
He smiles at the tiefling. “Any ideas for sunnier locales?”
Church thinks to himself for a long moment. And then he huffs a laugh. “At risk of you calling me uncreative… why not take us back to Waterdeep?” he suggests with a smile. “I never appreciated it enough when I was there. It was never a home for me… but I’d like to know what it was to you.”
Gale beams at him. “On the contrary, I think that would be rather apt.”
He reaches his hand forward — parting the Weave like a curtain to reveal a luminous scene before them. Eventually the light focuses to reveal a charmingly-cluttered room with accents of dark wood and heavy green curtains. The walls are full of books, and the edges of the rug-strewn ground are lined with piles of even more books.
“This is the center of my universe,” he says, pushing himself up to stand. “The sculptures, the paintings, the walls enlivened by the spines of a thousand books..."
Church takes his hand as the wizard helps him to his feet, continuing to gesture around them grandly.
“...the grand piano plays the Lliirian Suites all by itself, and as we look out beyond the arches that lead to the terrace…” Gale beckons Church forth as the double doors open to a sunlit terrace, “…we see the weary sun take its daily dive into the sea.”
Church follows him out, shading his eyes from the golden glow.
“That’s nice,” Church says, voice breaking as he takes in the warmth of the sunset. “It’s only been a couple weeks, hasn’t it? But it feels like we’ve spent months here in the Shadowlands already.”
He settles himself heavily down upon a wooden settee with red cushions, sighing. Gale smiles down at him.
“My favorite spot,” he remarks idly. “Many times, evening turned to night and back to daybreak once more while I sat here, lost in words.”
“Sounds like you,” Church smiles back at him. “Up all night reading? I do love that rebellious streak of yours.”
“Oh, allow me to live dangerously while I still can,” Gale smirks.
The wizard settles beside him as Church gazes over the panorama of the terrace’s view. He inhales the sea air deeply.
“I think you’re remembering the harbor on a good day,” he comments wryly. “It’s missing the fish and smoke.”
“A memory isn’t perfect by nature,” Gale murmurs. “But sometimes the imperfection is what makes a moment beautiful. It’s the essence of the memory that matters. It comforts us, it…”
He traces his finger along the arm of the settee as his voice catches. “It’s home. I…”
Gale turns to look at Church with wet eyes. “This was… an excellent choice,” he says, straining to keep his voice steady. “If something were to happen, I should like to see home again. Even if it’s not real. Even if…”
Church pulls him into a hug, holding him close as the wizard struggles to stifle a sob.
“No, damn it, I refuse to be a blubbering mess,” Gale chuckles wetly, though he returns his friend’s embrace. “This isn’t quite what I imagined when I wove this for you.”
“What did you imagine?” Church grins as the wizard begins to pull away from him.
And then he realizes then that Gale’s shining eyes are soft and awed, as if he is the view, and not the harbor behind them.
“Gale…?” the tiefling whispers as the man leans back in towards him…
…Gale’s lips are tentative and admittedly a little clumsy as they press upon Church’s. The wizard’s stubble tingles where it brushes against his skin, his hand warm as it comes to rest against his cheek. The tiefling freezes there, scarcely able to comprehend the moment as it passes like one of the harbor’s ships in the wind.
Still, Church kicks himself for how long it takes for him to get ahold of himself and push his friend gently away, an apology in his eyes.
Gale draws back at once, lowering his hand hastily.
“I’m…” the wizard looks flustered in his own fantasy, pulling away completely.
Church smiles sadly at him. “Look, it’s alright. I’m sorry.”
“No, I’m sorry. That was impulsive of me. If things were different…” Gale swallows, looking down to the floor as he fidgets with his hands. “If we had both met back then in Waterdeep, I would have taken the time to do things properly. To say it all better.”
His mouth twists. “…perhaps be more charming. More forward.”
“Gale…” Church sighs.
“I’m sorry,” Gale chuckles ruefully. “I didn’t intend to bring you here to subject you to my regrets, nor did I intend to make a complete ass of myself.”
“You’re not an ass,” Church protests easily.
Gale shrugs sheepishly. “I lived the life of a hermit for some time before I met you — these sort of rituals aren’t quite in my grimoire, to say the least.
“I know I missed my chance,” he admits with a sigh. “I thought, for a time, that what you had with our companion was merely a…” he blushes, “…physical… distraction. But I should have seen it plain upon your journal's pages as much as in your eyes.”
He looks up at Church with a tight smile. “Your heart is with Astarion.”
Church has no desire to deny it. Not anymore.
“It is,” he says softly, a smile tugging at his lips despite himself.
Gale looks away from him. “He’s lucky to have you. It’s clear you have been helping him keep the metaphorical darkness at bay. I only hope he does the same for you.”
Church follows his gaze out into the harbor. “He makes me want to fight for the future,” he murmurs. “A future where he’s safe. A future full of sunnier days by his side, where he doesn’t need to be afraid.” He sighs. “Where neither of us have to be afraid.”
“A noble pursuit,” Gale says evenly, smiling stiffly past his quiet, embarrassed devastation.
“Gale…” Church squeezes the man’s hand briefly. “I don’t think loving someone as a friend is worth less than being in love with someone. I don’t think I’ve had a friend like you in quite some time, and now that I have that… that’s also something worth fighting and living for.
“And tonight’s not the last night,” he adds firmly. “You’ll live to come back to Waterdeep — for real. And I’ll…” He hesitates. “I want to visit you,” he says earnestly. “You’d be the closest thing I’d have to home there. So please… don’t write yourself off.
“I know it’s not what you hoped for, but this?” He holds up Gale’s hand and shakes it, squeezing tight as he smiles wanly at his friend. “I’d still fight for this. I’m not going to let my friend die if there’s another way.”
Gale huffs a laugh. “Do you… really think there is another way?”
“There has to be,” Church insists. “I’ve let the gods take a lot of things from me, but you’re someone I won’t let go so easily.”
“Nor are you,” Gale smiles softly at him. “Not if I have any say in the matter.”
He gazes out once more over the harbor of Waterdeep, sighing gently. “But I suppose we all must return to reality…”
He snaps his fingers, and in an instant they are back in the clearing, the aurora flowing serenely overhead.
“...one way or another,” Gale mutters wryly.
Church feels his heart sink a little, already missing the warmth of the sunset — illusion or not. Still, he nudges his friend. “It’s not so bad,” he murmurs. “After all, you’re still here.”
Gale huffs a tired laugh. “Damn you,” he says without much heat. His lips can’t seem to help but smile. “Damn you for giving me so much to care about. Our friends, our adventures… this would have been so much easier if it was just me. But it isn’t.”
His thumb brushes over Church’s hand again.
“If there is a way — any way — to save all that’s grown dear to me… I want to seize it.” He then grimaces. “I just cannot fathom what that might be, other than to fail Mystra and condemn the world.”
“Let’s take it step by step,” Church tells him. “First, we save Thaniel and lift the Shadow Curse. Then, we take Ketheric’s artifact away from him and destroy it. After that, we attack Moonrise Towers, destroying Ketheric for good. And then…”
He hesitates.
“...then, we’ll have a better idea what the true heart of the Absolute is,” Gale finishes for him. “We can strategize again along the way. Adapt. And maybe by then we’ll have found something that isn’t… me.” He sighs. “I have to hope.”
Church squeezes his hand, smiling. “And I’ll hope with you.”
Gale leans against him, staring up at the stars.
“Stay with me, will you?” he asks shakily. “I… I don’t want to think of it anymore. But I don’t want to be alone either."
“Of course,” Church murmurs, draping his cloak across his friend’s shoulders as well. “For as long as you need.”
Start from the beginning!

Waterdeep Tadfool Heist - Session 2
The second session in Gale and Ari's Waterdeep Dragon Heist campaign went off the rails the moment it started, because instead of heading to the area in the adventure module, they decided to go home to change.
Instead of just changing clothes, they were immediately greeted and fussed at by a tressym who pointed out Gale hadn't effectively cleaned his robes of the evidence of his tavern mishap
Ari has apparently not met Morena yet, and while they were out Gale got a message basically saying 'show me your elf girl', meanwhile, Tara is impatient for grandkittens
It's at this point they realize that the tower is a mess courtesy one cat tressym being a little too thorough in trying to make 1000% sure there's no funny business going on with an invitation left for Gale from Blackstaff Academy (you can't trust those wizards, they didn't lift a finger to help with your condition, Gale!)
So before going out on their rescue mission they have to try and clean the house back up (because Tara doesn't have opposable thumbs, sorry dear), and Tara overhears them talking about heading to the roughest part of Waterdeep after dark, and decides that since the Tadfools' only braincell went to Avernus to help Karlach, she's going to accompany them undercover
So now Gale has to cast Seeming on the three of them (because Ari refuses to leave without her sunshine mace and singing sword), and so Gale and Ari are plain dock workers and Tara is their friendly gray alley cat. She is not amused.
They bypass a grisly scene of gang violence but immediately get distracted by an extremely purple shop. Partially because there's a taxidermied beholder in its window and Tara is offended someone would waste perfectly good beholder meat like that
They of course head inside. Ari charms the proprietor, Xoblob (an old deep gnome that has scribbled a bunch of purple eyes on his bald head), while Gale's attention goes laser focused on a shiny magical object on the shelves. Poor Tara gets overwhelmed by the everything that is this purple palace but seems to find something like a false wall
Ari turns on the charm a little too much, and now Xoblob has a very weird... crush? Not crush? It's hard to describe, but she has, um, and admirer I guess now?
She is almost able to get information out of old Xobby when they're interrupted by someone pretending to be a Waterdhavian Noble (something Gale sees through but feigns ignorance of), who wants to talk to Xobby alone
Ari, apparently the apple of Xoblob's eye, convinces him to not kick them out, and they're able to get a clue on what happened to Volo's friend (FINALLY). The fake noble tries to threaten the gang, which makes Tara's mother instincts kick in
Tara follows the fake noble out of the shop and goes and witnesses a SEKRIT meeting between him and a shadowy figure talking about world city domination, but before she is "catnapped" by a bunch of drunks who think she's a very pretty kitty that they can sell for a fortune. Oops. I think she may have failed at becoming the new holder of the collective brain cell.
After Daemir leaves, Ari pretends she was suuuuper scared of the threat lobbied their way, but old Xoblob rolled a Nat20, but because he's now weirdly taken with her, finds her excellent performance super charming and attractive. Xoblob openly starts making weird suggestions about Ari coming back when they're "free from... unexpected" interruptions. LOOK. The dice made this weird.
Gale gets a bit protective and "wtf" about this and tries to get Ari away from this suddenly intense gnome. They leave to FINALLY go to the tavern they were directed to in the first session. The dice say that Tara will be fine and rescued next session
What will happen next time? Will they actually stay on plot? Will Tara disguised as a ratty gray alley cat get sold off to an "exotic pet dealer"? (look, these guys are REALLY drunk) Will Ari remember she's actually disguised? Wait... I just realized Ari was disguised. Xoblob will not remember her if she comes back to the shop unless she redoes the Seeming disguise. Oh Tadfools, what a tangled web we weave...

I havnt recovered from the Caz fight yet. BUT
here are some genuine thoughts on Astarion from my- knew nothing of baldurs gate before playing run: (from me the Ace with no sense of self preservation)
"Oh great a sexy vamp man- bet friend XYX is all over that, they are romanceable, right? like dragon age?"🧛‍♂️
".... that 'don't touch me' sounded too real.... hope im wrong"
" I mean if we are cool with Shar worshippers and devil pacts why not a vamp, join the club buddy."
"he is a cagey little fuck I think I'll go after him this play through love his little faces"
"I'm not into pain, thinking this was a bad choice" chains and whips to not excite Tav XD
"I mean maybe it's the years of slavery and not sexual trauma???" 🙏
"noooo, I mean of course the sexy vamp wants to fuck, I probly have to- to get more of his story...." proceed to worry stupidly about unskippable sex scenes and noises for no reason (you can press x any time to get to the next thing / dialog)
get propositioned again at party.... "maybe this relationship won't work out, he's way to thirsty least there wasn't another sex scene lol dun worry buddy, I'll help you murder that guy that hurt you, just can't keep up with the horny XD"
"so I just feed him bad guys and tell him he is pretty? yup that checks out"
act 2
Start working on wyll, he seems like a cool guy... "whoa bud, is this you first romance scene.... by saying yes to a dance... feels icky cause I know sex happens at some point, like some entitled jerk at a bar, least astarion was real upfront about it" ( in hind sight this was unfair to wyll, but everyone was being so horny and the only scene I had was astarions so I drew some incorrect conclusions with wyll being a 'good guy' asshole)
"I mean we has evidence that deals with devils are bad.... or is it demons... anyways I support you in a friend way, getting raphel to Facebook stalk your abuser to make sure he not still pineing after you is OK with me."
Got his Act 2 scene "OHNooooooo I was right it was a sexual trauma 'don't touch me....' ohhhh noooooo. he didn't wanna fuck either????? baby boy, you never gotta sex again if you dun wanna, we can hug forever!" cried a while ngl
"look here blood witch- no means no, if your house wasn't destroyed, I'd destroy it myself."😈
"i mean he said he kills kids, so it's ok to kill him, then raphy boy will tell us if you back is bad news or really bad news <3"
"It's really bad news..... so no big astarion lover of cuddles l, will help you kill the guy who ruined your life. that's what romantic partners do. we kiss and nothing else and I will murder people to keep doing that <3" pondering an evil play through honesly
"he was so upset when Tav died in battle.... like doesn't he know rez scrolls are a thing? it's ok Tavs gonna live forever.... not sure how we will figuer that out" researches dnd lore to find several solutions XD
"Gale bud. friend. pal. I care about you and your life. your ex is shitty for asking you to do this, but also if you do blow up you'll take us all with you.... and even if you don't, #1 priority over there will be back under vamp thrall so this is a no go, put your shirt back on."🙃
act 3
found a cliff in the camp before act 3 with a song that made me cry again it is for sure astarions "wtf dude I was emotionally stable now what have you done"
"circus lady, here are all my loves deepest secrets- oh no she's a shapeshifter???? oops, it's ok love we will kill her too why not" No one can know how hurt you are but meeeeeee 😋
"a statue of my boyfriend in camp don't mind if I do~☆ aww now he has a halo so everyone can see he is a good boy who totally doesn't cause me to murder people and would never murder anyone himself" 😇
"Astarion NO, we are not gonna kill a bunch of other spawn just cause you are scared. I get it, and you don't have time for therapy but trust me that not gonna feel great in a few hundred years"
"ooooo blood bitch is back and you fucked up. look at this boy standing up for himself - yes that's right take us to your private house so we can kill you at our leisure.... man oh man I used to have morals now I got Astarion."
*****
and now I'm tired XD

bg3 post epilogue slide show that exists in my imagination: [spoilers]
shadowheart and psymáre use their copious riches they collected during their adventure to buy some property in rivington, they have a house built for shadowheart’s parents and another for themselves. scratch and the owlbear cub have tons of room outside to run around and play!
funny idea popped into my head that psymáre should take over ownership of sorcerers sundries since it’s previous owner, uh, tragically died
im not sure where precisely astarion is living (maybe he also buys himself a house with all the gold we picked up) (also like, with cazador gone... who owns the szarr estate? maybe the gang pulls some legal strings so that astarion becomes the new owner, then he auctions off all of cazador's shit, and now has a ton of money. then oops the mansion burns to the ground. hooray insurance fraud!) but psymáre visits him often because they are friends. in her free time she’s researching ways for him to be able to walk in the sun again.
gale returns to waterdeep after retrieving the broken crown pieces from the river and returning them to mystra. psymáre’s roped him into her “helping astarion walk in the sun” project. she goes to visit him in waterdeep after everything at home for her has settled down and gets a grand tour of the city. they use magic skype to talk to each other when psymáre goes back to baldur's gate because they are wizard besties
wyll is in avernus, and so is karlach for the moment (a lot of players (including me) are disappointed that there's no way to give her a real happy ending, despite all the threads in act 3 that hint that there should have been a way, so... this might change pending future content updates) so unfortunately they don't see each other very much in person anymore :( but psymáre's a very smart wizard and makes magic skype work between planes so they can still catch up. i imagine she'd have a chat with barcus about potentially getting the iron hand gnomes and their new gondian allies to work on a solution to karlach's case
it seems like lae'zel and the gang permanently part ways after she returns to the astral plane, and I wish there had been a slightly longer goodbye scene with her if you had very high or exceptional approval with her. in my mind hers and psymáre's parting was a lot more like morrigan and the warden's friendship parting in da:o "i knew nothing of friendship before i met you, live well my friend, live gloriously". psymáre really didnt like lae'zel when she first met her and was surprised by how much she came to value their friendship (like... she only stole the hammer from raphael & freed orpheus because lae'zel asked her too. braving a devil's lair so you can free a guy who might just kill you when you release him for your friend is pretty ride-or-die, in my eyes). maybe they will meet again one day! i hope they will. psymáre's a high elf and still has many centuries of life left ahead of her, and in the astral plane lae'zel won't age, so who can say!
since jaheira lives in baldur's gate, that means they're neighbours and would still see each other! i dont see psymáre becoming a harper herself, but she'd be allied with them, certainly. jaheira goes home to her family and has a well deserved break from apocalyptic fuckery. also that reverse aging scroll jaheira has in her basement... psymáre's a high elf and is 370 years old, so she might expect to live another 400 years or so, whereas shadowheart... isn't going to live that long (elves live on average about 750 years, but half-elves only about between 128-180 years) ... maybe jaheira gives the scroll and her research to them, since she decided she wasnt going to use it?
(now ive made myself sad thinking about how all of astarion's friends are eventually going to die of old age :( maybe the "walking in the sun" fix will be to cure him of vamparism? this would be a good century or two into the future though, probably. give him plenty of time to decide if that what he wants or not. also plenty for psymáre to learn how to cast wish or find a scroll of true resurrection)
in halsin's romance ending he tell you that he's going to help the refugees and orphaned children start new lives in the now shadow curse-free lands, so obviously he's still gong to be doing that. i cant decide whether or not yenna goes with him or if psymáre and shadowheart adopt her lmao but i definitely think that they'd drop by and say hello whenever they're able. and im sure shadowheart would like to see moonrise towers back to its former glory!
i recruited minsc really late into act 3 so i didnt get to know him very well but i assume post-game that he's doing just fine i dont have any further thoughts on him lmao

So I know I missed the Catching Fire rewatch (and The Hunger Games rewatch...oops) but I finally have a chance to sit down and watch CF. I’m just gonna put every little thing that pops into my head here...sorry in advance
- That depiction of her ptsd? *chef kiss*
- It’s kind of dumb that they set that first Gale kiss inside the fence. I just remember my reaction reading when Snow said he knew about the kiss that took place outside the fence. Like, oh shit how much do they know? Is there anywhere that is safe?!
- Haymitch would be good at baseball
- Peeta’s Glow-up yall! Too bad they put him in some of the stupidest outfits
- Donald Sutherland and Jennifer Lawrence are soooo good in the office scene
- I kinda wish they included her mom drawing her bath and adding the dried flowers.
Peeta: That was nice acting
Katniss: You too
Peeta: bruh
- when that peacekeeper realized the door was open
- seriously what is that sweater, peeta?
- oo yay their favorite colors
- its scenes like ^ this one, or any direct quotes really, that make me disconnect a bit because Jen (especially) and Josh are NOT Katniss and Peeta for me. Idk dude
- district eleven guts me. so well done! and when Haymitch hugs and katniss, and says it will be alright, but all she can see is the older man’s corpse being carried away!! perfectly sets up how helpless and dangerous it all is.
- “Will you stay with me?” “always” still a little salty we didn’t get this scene after the tour when she injures her foot, and we get the “I didn’t quite catch it.” The pay-off from that in Mockingjay made me flip, it hurt so bad.
- Honestly still salty about how many Everlark they cut.
- “Everyone wears [their hair] like this now, Grandpa” Do you think the did this to deliberately call out crazed (superficial) fans by saying they’re just like the capitol. We’ll wear your hairstyle and obsess over your love story while ignoring the real message.
- Caesars FACE during the proposal! Stanley Tucci was excellent casting
- ooo gales grumpy
- Cant get over that random capitol extra that touches Jen’s shoulder during the party at Snows mansion
- “All mahogany” brilliant
- I wish they’d kept peeta’s original line from the books when they’re told about the liquid that makes you puke. “You go along, thinking you can deal with it, thinking maybe they’re not so bad, and then you-” which leads to the “maybe we were wrong, katniss” It’s such an important moment! But in the movie, Peeta’s line “there are people starving and twelve and here..” doesn’t have the same revelation or same rebelliousness too it.
- Phillip Seymour Hoffman does a great job, but the whole characterization of Plutarch in the movies is way off for me.
- This movie is really dropping in a bunch of small pieces of fan service that were lacking from the first one. The Hob gets mentioned, and now we see Ripper. Not like only-movie viewers will get that.
- I wish we had Peeta protecting Katniss from seeing Gales whipping like in the books. Peeta’s kindness and self-less love for Katniss are perfectly communicated through that entire event, and in the movie, we only really get a glimpse.
- I HATE that they made Ms. Everdeen basically incapable of healing and had Prim take over. I get it, Prim is underdeveloped but you don’t need to take away one of the few things Katniss admires about her mother in order to make Prim more likable
- aw puppy dog peeta
- oof I am not a fan of Willow Shields acting. It’s so flat.
Katniss: What do you see
Prim: o_o hope
- I will never not be mad at haymitch for the “thousand lifetimes” line
- Ugh! I know that gale kiss before the reaping was supposed to communicate (I guess?) that Katniss chose gale and shes saying goodbye or whatever, but ugh i hate it. It is unnecessary
- That one slip of paper in the bowl still kills me. I remember people laughing in the theaters.
- aw effies face
Prim: o_o Katniss! Katniss
- white t-shirt, black jacket peeta. unf he looks like a greaser. One of the few good outfits they put him in.
- Sugar cube scene - FLAWLESS. I love Sam Claflin
- Jena Malone is exactly how I pictured johanna
- Also “Katniss’” reaction to Peeta agree to unzip, hilarious, but that is all Jen.
- Wiress, Beetee, and Mags are also really good casting
- PEETA WHAT ARE THOSE PANTS?? (you all know they ones I’m talking about)
- The Rue painting? the Seneca beard on the dummy? the bow? Excellent
- “If it wasn’t for the baby”..... then that smirk! Then haymitch’s lil cheers! its soo good. Also josh’s little trot up the stairs in his little white boots? hilarious.
- Haymtich’s nipples...that is all
- “remember who the real enemy is”
- Pissed we didn’t get an everlark quick during the breif “see you soon” scene before the quell
Snow: Look at them holding hands. I want them dead
Plutarch: Be Patient
Snow: bitch what did you say to me
- NOOO CINNAAA
- Goddamn that entrance into the arena! the way its shot is so disorienting and overwhelming. Well done Francis.
- Peeta’s got a kill under belt folks!
- “Gods it’s hot” yes you are
- Finnick you cheeky bastard
- What i wouldn’t give to be Finnicks elderly backpack
- That snotty kiss after the force field. Katniss trembling. Finnick’s look of realization. I do wish they included the line about “It’s probably her hormones” though.
- Its a SPILE!!!
- the gasping, moaning and groaning when they’re drinking water/when they’re treating their boils from the fog--- so suggestive, i can’t
- Peeta ended quite a few monkeys, how can yall say he’s weak
- Peeta easing the morphing while she dies is a very well done scene and it is shot beautifully, but it would’ve been so much better with the direct lines from the book. It's so much gentler and lovelier.
- Where is the green ointment? Where are the childish shenanigans??
- Katniss and Wiress are CUTE!!
- missed out on yet another everlark moment after the cornucopia spins
- YYOO the jabberjay scene is so intense! And peeta pushing his head against the force field, look so helpless to get to katniss breaks my little heart
- BEACH SCENE!!!!
- Lol plutarchs little “make yourself comfortable” while we know he’s off to his hovercraft.
- See you at midnight----So that was a lie
- Just a comment but Jen’s hair in every scene in the arena looks so good.
- “REMEMBER WHO THE REAL ENEMY IS” she’s got it folks
- Snow is STUNNED
- Jesus motif - katniss is legit T-posing in the hovercraft claw
- the scene katniss attacks haymitch and then being subdued is perfection. THE DRAMA
- that extended closeup at the end, where we see the RANGE of emotions that crosses her face, i just, Jen is really talented.
Verdict: Haymitch’s nipples
But for real, CF is my favorite movie in the series. It’s not perfect, but as a movie ADAPTATION, it's pretty great.
