#oooof and the chimes during Batman’s motif OOOOOF

Reasons why I love this song and think it’s the perfect opener for the movie/soundtrack:
- The haunting nature of it. The way it starts low and uneasily and builds to something loud and frantic. There’s tension from the very first note, and it just keeps getting tighter and tighter. Ratcheting up until that frenzied release at the end.
- The Riddler theme looming in the background the entire time, becoming more and more apparent as the song goes on. It’s so innocuous at first, but by the end you can’t ignore it.
- The obsessive pattern of the Batman motif (dun-dun-dun-dun) that steadily builds until it overpowers everything. Just like Bruce’s innate compulsion to be Batman has overtaken his whole life.
- Then the two motifs intertwining in this sort of crazy cacophony, mirroring the fact that the Riddler and Batman have been connected this whole time. There is no Riddler without Batman. No Edward without Bruce. They are very much foils. Even though Bruce doesn’t know that until the end of the movie. It’s the perfect set up.
- And then the quiet fade out of the Batman motif at the end. Singular and alone. Just as he believes himself to be.
