Deep sea witch Hobie and mermaid Reader my beloved

You two are swimming near his cave, looking at the swarm of colourful fishes that pass by. The water and light reflect on their scales making it one of the most beautiful things you've seen, Hobie thinks so too as he looks back at you and your smile.

All the fishes you've saved and helped recover adore to stay near the cave when they can, it became a problem when you both helped out a whale because it had hurt its fin. She was a lovely big old thing but she couldn't stay for long, but it had been fun to cuddle up to her as if she was nothing more than a big puppy. She also helped keep praying eyes off the cave but sadly she had to make her way for the winter, with a sad departure you heard her hum her song as she swims away carefully and majestically.

Hobie never refuses to help someone, it's in his values. However his help comes in different forms if you're nothing more than a twat with bad intentions. He refuses to make love spells, instead aiming to give the person a potion to make them more confident. He would never make someone do something that's beyond his agreements or contracts, there's no points to escape him either. He'll always lurk, because every contract has its conditions.

Imagine if you had met him wanting a contract and ensued to have one but didn't meet his requirements so now he keeps popping up randomly in your life asking for his payment. Hell, make it an enemies to lovers ark. He keeps being absolutely annoying, every time you need help he suddenly appears with a grin. "I could help with that ay? If only you paid your due." And as it goes on, he relents a bit. And the more and more he sees you, the more he's starting to want something else than his payment, if he can get you instead he'll forget your debt, how kind.

Herself in the mirror after having done her making and looking hot as hell. Deep down, she believes there are VERY FEW positive things about her (like her looks), and she wants to remember those things forever bc every day is a war against her self-worth

Her friend group. Instead of just Alan by himself, she’ll take a picture of the entire friend group (with Alan, Jolie, and Edward). She’ll want to be in that picture. She wants to remember forever that she was loved -- or at least, tolerated.

Herself in a saree. She loves how majestic sarees are, how their colours complement her complexion, and how much they piss off her father.

Edward's uncle's restaurant. That's where she had some of the best times of her life with her friends.

Adonis will take pictures of the following:

a) His nieces. Alexander’s daughters, Emma and Lily. He loves them to death, and they love him back. He wants to keep their memory in case he can never have a family of his own. OR b) He’ll take a picture of his daughter, Pearl. That’s a no-brainer. She’s EVERYTHING to him, and it’s not like he could ever forget her, but he wants to immortalize her in any way he could.

The grand piano at his parents’ home in Birmingham. That instrument was what gave him the most joy growing up.

A standing ovation at a theatre. That's a reminder that humans do ultimately celebrate feelings, art, and to an extent...tragedy.

A bouquet of flowers. Sometimes, love dies. Flowers certainly die. But hopefully, this picture won't. And maybe if nobody ever buys Adonis flowers, he'll have this photo to keep him company.

A hickey on his own body -- probably the result of a one night stand. It reminds Adonis that his body is touchable, that he is desirable, and that even if his heart gets too much, his flesh is just enough.

Damian will take pictures of the following:

The bit of land or new building in Ukraine where his childhood home used to be. If he could only go back in time, he would take a picture of his actual home. But alas...

His family’s gravestones -- if they have any. If he could even find where they were buried. But of course, he wouldn’t just take gloomy pictures of gravestones. He would buy flowers for his mother, his father, and his sister to place on their graves. He would try to make it as comforting as possible even though he can only ever feel pain when he reflects on how his immortality caused him to outlive them.

His first lover’s lavish home in Russia. It was turned into a museum after Aleksandr’s death, not demolished like Damian’s childhood home. If he could take a picture of only one scene, it would be the bedroom.

His almost-father-in-law’s home in Ireland. The man is still alive, so Damian would love for the picture to be taken of both of them in front of the home. Maybe in the backyard, where the house would be visible behind them and they could stand next to the tree that was planted from Kier’s remains.

Bella lounging in the sun. He knows she’s going to die very soon; a cat’s lifespan is nothing compared to his. But watching her relax in a spot of sunlight by his window always reminds him that appreciating the present is both more delightful and productive than worrying about the future.

Chapter 6 the jealousy and mystery of the mystery singer

this chapter might have some minor sunny x hitch but don't worry it's mostly about pipp and hitch )

Hitch's pov

It was a windy and foggy evening just a few minutes from almost getting caught as I kept running to the Sheriff Station as fast as I could go . With the sun setting on the majestic bay at the beach, with colors of orange, purple, and especially pink as I felt my heart beating from the close encounter I had from pipp finding out that I was the mystery singer, as I had just arrived at the Sheriff Station and closed the door before taking a few breaths before taking the cloak off. " phew that was a close one no one must know who I am at least not yet" I said to myself as I sat

at my desk unlocking my phone as it had a wallpaper of pipp with a filter surrounded by hearts

Hitch " oh pipp , will I ever be brave enough to tell you how I really feel? " I asked myself as I was looking at the wall paper filter as I then looked around seeing a blank piece of paper as I had an idea." Hmm perhaps I could write a poem ? Yeah if I'm too scared to tell her face to face I could just write her a poem " I said as I started having second doubts " oh but what if she doesn't like me in the same way? No get together hitch, your a Sheriff you just need to confident in your self , yeah but she's a princess a royal pegasus that rank goesway beyond Sheriff standards " I took another breath as I got out a pen to start working on the poem spilling out my deepest feelings for her as it took me about 5 hours to get the poem done as I didn't want it to tell pipp who it was from as I signed it as the mystery singer as I went over to the post office before it closed

" whoever you are thank you" I said as I started flying back to the Crystal Brighthouse as it took me a few hours before I made it as the sun was already setting as I looked up seeing multiple colors across the sky as my eyes sparkled" awwww cuuute" I said to myself wanting to take a selfie of myself with a sunset background as I instantly snapped out of it focusing back to the mystery singer as I immediately busted through the doors " ziiiiiippp! Hey sis you in here I need your help with something

Hitch's pov

As I was running along to get to the post office on time , I ran by sunny's smoothie cart as I spotted sunny and izzy having a conversation til they noticed I seemed to be in a bit of a hurry as I started breathing hard and slowing down trying to catch my breath

Sunny" hey hitch are you ok?, you seem kind of queasy can I pleasure you in a brand new smoothie flavor I've been working on" she asked me as she offered me a smoothie ." It's called the Tropical Sunny Sunset Smoothie

Hitch then took a deep breath as he was still panting " n no * pant*" no thx sunny I don't have time * pant * I * wheeze * need to get an important letter to the mail station* pant*, I said as I noticed izzy levitating my letter" I izzy

Izzy" oohhh an important letter let me see " I smiled as I used my magic to take a look at the letter" ooohhh looks like a heart's and hooves day card but that doesn't come until next year? " I asked puzzled

Hitch panicked as a blush crept upon his face as he noticed izzy trying to open his card as he quickly took it back" w well t that's because it's uh an early heart's and hooves day gift for uh one of my closest friends " I said blushing deeply, as I tried to run off before getting stopped by sunny.

Sunny wait a minute hitch" she said with a playful smirk as she stepped out of her cart and walked closer eyeing him suspiciously " you said it was for one of your closest friends " she said leaning closer " which last I checked since we got magic back you only had 5 close friends to you which would only mean that you have a crush on one of us don't you hitch" she said smirking while she was turned around looking back at him as hitch's blush deepened.

Izzy" a mysterious secret crush on one of us? Ooohhhh how exciting " she said as she started skipping in excitement as she then looked the other way wondering which of them it could be " now let me see ? Could it be misty?, me, , sunny zipp" she asked before getting cut off by sunny who placed her hoof on her lips

Hitch "Well misty is just a friend and Sunny was my childhood friend but that's all I see her as " I said before pausing and looking back at her" Uh no offensive sunny

Pipp" never mind that right now zipp" I said annoyed as my eyes widen as I looked back at her" never tell anyone that I said about forgetting beauty sleep I actually need your help with something

Pipp" aw thx mayflower it's probably another fan letter," she said as she opened it as Mayflower left " let's see to the most beautiful mare stylist pipp petals " aw someone decided to mail me an earlier heart's and hooves day card how sweet," she said as she continued " I decided since I tend to have a bit of trouble with telling you face to face I thought I'd show you how I feel with a poem,

Sunny" so then I realized that only left one left so I asked him if he had a crush on pipp

Izzy" and that's about it before he left to the post office" she said smiling as zipp groaned

Pipp" uuugghhh izzy" she groaned as half the room was filled with glitter" I can't even see where I'm going " she said sighing until she managed to fly out of the huge pile and shake some of the glitter from her face so she can see as she spotted a mirror as she looked back annoyed as she then took a double back look at the mirror seeing the glitter covering her outline of her mane and tail lifting a hoof seeing that the glitter only made her hooves sparkle even more" oohh actually this isn't really that bad I can totally use this as a new product for mane melody or for my new hit" she smiled looking at her friend " thx izz your the best" she said before taking a few selfies

Zipp" Uh hey sis did you forget that this glitter was so we can make a trail in case we got lost in the woods?

Izzy" oh no worries I have a whole another bucket full" she said smiling as she grabbed another full bucket

Zipp" great let's go and izzy do not waste that glitter " she said glaring as izzy chuckled nervously

Minutes later after the 4 of them got everything they needed to search for their friend hitch sunny, pipp, zipp, and izzy started making their way through the deep dark thick forest for their lost friend as izzy was throwing glitter on the ground to help by making a path from the entrance until they stopped as zipp saw light by a camp fire as the 4 friends reached hitch's campsite

Zipp" hmmm" she took a few minutes looking around the area before turning back " yep this is definitely hitch's campsite now we just need to find him I say we split up and search each area pipp and I will search from the air while I search east and pipp searches west while sunny you and izzy search north and south and we meet up here in an hour to see if we can find anything

Sunny " got it " she smiled determined to find hitch as she started heading north of the forest

Izzy" I'm on it " she smiled as she headed south still making a trail of glitter to find her way

Pipp smiled and was about to take off when she looked at her sister " be safe zipp" she said as she started heading west

Zipp" you know I will" she smiled as she took off heading east.

Sunny's pov

I was walking along the northern section of the forest with a flashlight in my hand as i turned it on feeling really worried about hitch as he was my best friend when we were young as I started remembering how we would do things together as I couldn't help but feel butterflies in my stomach as I felt a small redness forming in my cheeks" oh my god" I said to myself realizing how I was feeling " a am I developing a crush on hitch" I asked myself as I started to worry" no no no I I can't be falling for my best friend besides h he already has a crush on pipp I mean what kind of friend would I be if I was jealous " I asked myself as I was then snapped back to reality as I heard a rustle sound in a bush" h hitch is that you?" I asked myself as I shined my flashlight on the bush as a squirrel came out as I sighed in relief as I then went back to being worried " oh where are you hitch?

Hitch's pov

After I had mailed the letter I made for pipp I was calmly humming a song in my head as I had reached the Sheriff Station as I put on the same black cloak on as I went to the woods to do a little camping as a few minutes passed and I decided to go exploring to gather some berries for a few hours as I then heard voices of sunny , izzy, zipp, and pipp as I first decided to follow sunny as I hid behind a few thick bushes and started vocalizing before I started singing another song

I was still searching for Hitch when I suddenly heard this strange majestic music as I looked around wondering where it was coming from " h hello is someone out there" I asked as I took another turn looking around as the music stopped before starting again as I looked away as my eyes widen as I felt like whoever was singing was singing about me

My blush kept growing as I soon found that the music was coming from the bushes as I slowly stepped forward shining my flashlight " whomever 's there you better show your self now" I said confidently only to let out a gasp and step back as I saw the same mysterious figure that pipp saw" a are you the mystery singer " I asked as I didn't get an answer as I saw him running off" h hey wait don't go I just want to figure out who you are " I called out running after him but alas he was to fast to catch and he was gone in a flash as I sighed and looked down before noticing a piece of hair from his tail as i picked it up" hmm an aquamarine hair piece color ? Maybe i should take this back to zipp so she can examine it " i said and headed back to the campsite

Meanwhile in the western section I was flying through the air thinking I could find hitch faster from the air as I soon felt my wings getting tired as I soon landed on the ground as I took out my phone and turned it's flashlight on as I noticed some footprints heading deeper in the forest as I started to panic about never being able to see Hitch again or if something bad happen to him" I thought as I took a few breaths before calming down as I took out my phone as I started to livestream again .

Pipp" hey hey to all my Pipsqueaks out there if you haven't noticed I'm coming at you live from the forest with some devastating news, It has been hours since anyone has seen hitch the last known whereabouts was that he's been camping in the woods so don't worry me, sunny, izzy and Zipp are all in the forests looking for him but in case he's no longer here I need you all to comment if you ever see him back in town so far all I've found was some mysterious footprints so I'm going to follow them and keep you posted when we find him" I said as I posted the video online as I started following the trail with my phone's flashlight on until I noticed something shining as I picked it up seeing that it was hitch's badge as I let out a strong gasp " h hitch's sheriff badge h he never goes anywhere without it" I said as I sat on the ground feeling like crying until I heard the same music I had before

After losing sunny from my trail as I then realized i had lost my badge somewhere as I then noticed pipp livestreaming as I felt my heart flutter as I then noticed she looked upset like she was about to cry and I wanted to cheer her up so I pulled out my guitar as I started strumming and singing as I walked a little closer to her

Pipp" well he may be a little nerdy with all his nature facts" she said as the mystery singer looked down in disappointment as pipp continued " but he's also the bravest stallion I know he's kind, loyal, fun to be around, funny and he tends to be a magnet to little critters he's independent and tends to take things more serious then others and well he's the Sheriff but I don't know if he really feels the same " she said looking back down at the ground.

Hitch blushed as he started feeling nervous as he looked at pipp as he looked softly toward her way as he slowly started strumming another tune as he started singing

You with the sad eyes don't be discouraged oh I've realized, it's hard to take courage in a world full of people you can lose sight of it all the darkness inside you can make you feel so small " he sang as he slowly approached her more opening his arms

I slowly looked back at him in confusion as I wasn't sure if he was trying to cheer me up as I saw him opening his arms as I slowly looked back

She asked in pure shock

Sunny" I I think he is" she said as she turned to pipp" pipp make sure your recording and livestreaming this is going to be great" she said as pipp started livestreaming.

I was on my way back to maretime bay, from the forest as I suddenly heard a loud roar coming from it as I then realized my friends were still in there looking for me as I instantly turned around running back into the woods to save them as I had decided to still have the cloak around hiding my body only a little different as I had a mask over my eyes and also a ninja suit under my cloak so they still wouldn't be able to see me as I stood confidently up in a tree branch getting Zipp's and the others attention

Zipp" hey everyone look it's the mystery singer " I said as we all started cheering as I noticed him glaring at the the manticorn" Wait he's not thinking what I think he's thinking is he?I asked as I soon got my answer as I saw pipp livestreaming " Uh pipp seriously! Your livestreaming this? What if our mom sees this? Or what if this becomes too mature for a young audience

Meanwhile as hitch and pipp were dancing together hitch accidentally stepped on an object as he heard a buzzer ringing as he was immediately sprung into the air and caught in a net as the crowd gasped in shocked as the net was soon lowered in front of sunny, zipp, izzy, and pipp as zipp came stepping forward

Zipp" alright mystery singer mystery " she paused before taking off the helmet and pulling off the hood" solved" she smirked as the 4 friends all gasped as it was soon revealed that the mystery singer was hitch.

Sunny i it's  you?" She asked as she was confused and surprised as she turned and looked at zipp

Zipp" w what " she said in full shock to find out that it was Hitch

Izzy" no way I it can't be

Pipp" h hitch? Y your the mystery singer? B but w why ? I I don't u understand w why , h how ? When did this all start?

Hitch then let out a sigh before looking at his friends before deciding to confess" w well the truth is ever since that video Sparky posted when I was taking care of pipp w well I couldn't stop thinking about her especially since the day I first met her so I've been developing a crush on pipp wanting to tell her how I felt but I was just so worried that she might not feel the same So when I heard that she was wanting to be alone cause of what happened between Zipp's little argument with her but I didn't want her to know it was me at first so I tried to be someone I wasn't so I could try to tell her how I felt without her really knowing it was me pretty soon everyone started calling me the mystery singer

Zipp" so that explains everything the mane melody product that pipp found when she first met the mystery singer

Sunny" and why you didn't have your badge with you when we looked for you in the woods

Izzy" and how the mystery singer knew we lived in the Crystal Brighthouse and pretty much had the same personality you have when it comes to protecting others when we were almost attacked by that manticorn

Zipp" well I gotta admit when I saw that letter I did not expect you to write such a heartfelt poem

Pipp" that makes two of us" she said as her face was bright red as she was looking at hitch as she approached him " you know hitch you didn't have to pretend to be someone your not besides why wouldn't i like you? I feel the same way and I like you just the way you are " she said leaning closer nuzzling against him as she leaned closer giving him a seductive look " how about a little kiss Sheriff " she smirked giggling as she leaned closer kissing his lips

I blushed deeply as I saw pipp stepping closer to me as my eyes widen as I felt her lips on mine as I pulled back smirking" actually how about another song princess

Pipp" oh and what song is that sheriff " I asked giggling as I saw hitch looking at the band and nodding his head as the music started as I looked at me offering me to lead as I smiled softly as my face reddened as I stepped toward him

Pipp" How are we so different and still so much the same?

Hitch" why do I start smiling when I hear your name?

Once the karaoke was done hitch and pipp were laughing with each other as the five friends headed out of Mane Melody as the others were still shocked  to find out that Hitch was the mystery singer

Pipp" ahh I I just still believe you were the mystery singer and you were hiding such an amazing singing voice  I I mean I always thought I was good b but t that that was definitely something else

Zipp" yeah and the name you came up with  the mystery singer was a stroke of absolute genius

Izzy " absolutely this whole  mystery singer  thing is totally make your sparkling extra bright

Sunny " it definitely was something I was  not expecting

Pipp" I still have one question though where exactly  did you learn to sing like that?

Hitch " o oh uh w well you see uh " he said blushing deeply  as he looked at his friends and then at pipp as his blush grew" w well d don't don't take this the wrong way or anything cause it's not like I was spying on anything  but ever since I was a colt before we got magic back even though I was told  that unicorns and pegasis were our enemies I couldn't help but secretly think that Sunny had a point about us all being friends so whenever anypony wasn't around or when I was alone in my room I'd look up things about unicorns  and pegasi  and I saw a video about how pipp had her first ever concert and when I heard her sing  it just felt so inspiring that I tried to kind of write and sing my own songs

Pipp" awww hitch that is so sweet" she said blushing as she started tearing up

Sunny " then what happened hitch?

Hich" well  then I started having a dream to share my songs with everypony but then I started getting worried  that at first it would never come true cause I thought if I did share it ponies would think I was trying to be like pipp so I decided to keep it a secret until now  which reminds me that dream that I had when I was a colt it inspired me to write a new song just for you guys

Zipp" yeah  I want to hear this

Rebels Rewatch: "Visions And Voices"

Maul returns to be a menace and freak both me and Ezra out.

From the very beginning, with just the washed out dingy lighting and the whooshing wind sound effect, this episode already feels unsettling. The atmospheric touches here with the storm and lightning and the camera movement and shot choice once things start happening evoke a horror movie.

The way they have Hera's voice fading out and going watery every time Maul calls to Ezra, the way Ezra keeps squinting and blinking and the tiny headshake he gives like he's trying to shake off some fatigue or jerk himself alert, make himself stop seeing things...

He looks so frightened. :(

COURSE I DON'T BLAME HIM WITH THE APPARITION OF MAUL LOOKING LIKE THIS.

I mentioned in my original liveblog but this episode gives me major Teen Titans 2003 "Haunted" vibes, with the plotline about a character being menaced by an imaginary villain only they can see. Rebels ultimately diverged from that parallel but my mental "If I had a nickel for every time" associations linger.

Something I loved about this episode was just how present everyone was for Ezra, how worried and concerned they were over him. Like here, all the members of the crew, even Chopper, are crowded in Kanan's room waiting for him to wake up.

Subtle animation appreciation moment: How Ezra touches the back of his neck like he's trying to rub out some stiffness or ache.

Oh hang on, did I just stumble across another Kanera-Sabezra mirror?

Getting a little ahead of myself though, gotta appreciate this moment here with Ezra's fond little smile as Sabine bullies AP-5 about the munitions they're taking.

Also Sabine's "Can you believe this guy?" look lol.

Sabine immediately knows to send Chopper for Kanan. (Oh look, the two of them being the Most Important People in Ezra's life again. :D)

Sabine is very worried and alarmed this whole scene. She knows this isn't like him and oh ouch there are those Teen Titans "Haunted" feels come back to stab me again.

It's not actually clear what Maul was doing with this whole making-Ezra-see-him-everywhere trick--and you know it was deliberate, Ezra wasn't getting anything useful out of his end of the mind bond--but honestly the visions going unexplained are effectively creepy and unsettling enough. Personally I think it was one part to scare Ezra, make him doubt himself and his own mind, make him and everyone else think he was going crazy, and one part to manipulate him into doing something horrible he'd regret so that the Rebels would cast him out and drive him to Maul.

Hera understandably takes Ezra off the mission in light of events and heads it up herself. There's very soft worried mom energy radiating off her in this scene.

I'm kind of amazed Kanan and Sabine putting a tracker on Ezra without telling him didn't get any rancid takes complaining about how ~cLeArLy tOxIc~ it was. Maybe people actually remembered the part of Ezra's characterization where he tends to impulsively go off half-cocked to save people and figured, "Oh, Kanan's taking some obvious precautions in case he does that." Or maybe they decided given two previous kidnapping attempts Kanan was allowed a little paranoia over his kid.

Aaaaaaand this is the first we've heard Ezra's theme in a while.

(Note: Sabine has already painted one of Ezra's new Scout Trooper helmets, which he decides to wear to see Bendu. Even though the last time they rode the speeder into the Bendu's hollow he didn't bother wearing a helmet at all. Upgraded your comfort item/security blanket metaphor there, Ezra, eh?)

Full on horror strings here as we pan up to Maul just chilling like a creeper at the top of the hollow.

The way Ezra almost steps between Maul and Kanan. <3

Something I loved this episode was Ezra consistently rejecting Maul's attempts to touch him, smacking or shoving his hand off his shoulder, deliberately stepping away and keeping a distance.

Since a straightforward request was denied, Maul resorts to blackmail, threatening to broadcast the location of the base to the Empire and oof, Ezra's face.

Maul then dangles the "key to defeating the Sith" carrot in front of them, which activates Ezra's Hero Complex and hyper-responsibility and is what makes him agree to go. See, Maul is his responsibility, it's his fault Maul is even after them in the first place, so Ezra feels a sense of obligation to take care of him as a personal problem.

Love how Kanan says Phoenix Squadron will just wholecloth pack up and move to a new base in order to keep Ezra safe. I don't think it works like that Kanan, lol, but the spirit is appreciated.

Ezra's awfully confident that Maul won't hurt him and, ngl, that is not a risk I would have taken. But Kanan decides to trust Ezra and so the snippet of Ezra's theme that's been playing (marking his gesture of self-sacrifice) gives way to the same cue that played when Vader was descending on top of the TIE Advanced in "Twilight of the Apprentice", kind of an auditory callback to Malachor and the start of this whole arc.

Sabine's already getting the Phantom II prepped. <3

Dathomir looks appropriately hellish. Twisted gnarled trees, barren rocks, broken architecture, drenched in deep red with fog obscuring the horizon.

It's subtle at first and grows more obvious as the episode carries on but Maul is a little bit, ah... bipolar in his actions and displays of emotion here. He oscillates between speaking calmly, growling in frustration, outright snapping at Ezra sometimes, cackling to himself randomly, and of course dropping his voice down into that soft, vulnerable cadence that's his go-to whenever he wants to garner and play to Ezra's sympathies. Ezra takes his erratic behavior in stride, for the most part, doesn't flinch or comment on Maul's mood swings.

Really do love the environment work Rebels does. <3

"Fun" easter egg to note: The scrawled Mand'oa on the wall spells KENOBI.

Aaaaaaand our introduction of the plot device that is the darksaber, displayed prominently under a cubist painting of Satine, whose theme plays as Ezra examines the darksaber. This reference is pure fanservice for TCW fans. It basically means nothing to me emotionally, I was never a fan of Satine or her romance with Obi-Wan, so mostly I just feel offended and creeped out on her behalf that a painting of her got hauled to Maul's murder cave and defaced.

(Interesting to note that the slashes of... paint?... blood?... stuff crosses out Satine's eyes and cuts her throat. Is Maul reveling in his murder of her, trying to relive it by destroying her image? Did he stub out her eyes to stop her from "staring" at him? Who knows.)

Okay I lied, Ezra flinches precisely once, right after Maul yells at him not to touch the darksaber.

I like to think it was possibly calling out to him, the kyber crystal inside a natural siren song to Force wielders, and that's how Ezra knows it's some kind of lightsaber and not just a weird stick.

Love the drums in this music cue. It's got some exotic-sounding eastern instruments in it too, I think I might hear a bit of didgeridoo?

Subtle animation appreciation moment: How Ezra screws up his face in preparation to down the potion, it obviously doesn't smell or taste very good lol.

The music turns frantic and rushing when we cut the Sabine and Kanan landing out, like it's telling them to hurry. More exotic instruments, some kind of tinny percussion, cymbals maybe?

Right, so this episode was clearly another Halloween special right? Has all the perfect trappings of one lol.

Maul strays into Dangerously Genre Savvy here; he never intended to pay for using the Nightsisters' magick himself and his dialogue to Ezra seems to indicate he didn't intend to sacrifice Ezra to them either. So his plan was either to evade the spirit witches long enough to get away scott free, or he was counting on other members of the Spectres to come after Ezra trying to save him.

Either way, it leads to one of the creepiest scenes in the show.

Subtle animation appreciation moment: The bewildered way Kanan's head jerks around right before the Nightsister spirit possesses him, like he can tell that something freaky is there but he can't tell what or where.

The unnatural character movement the animators use for Possessed!Kanan and Possessed!Sabine is really good; they're limp like puppets for a bit before the spirits take full control, and even afterwards move in jerky, inhuman motions.

And thus a half-dozens angst!fics were written lol. (And still not nearly enough.)

Ngl, Maul technically does show Ezra how to save his friends buuuuut he gets no points for that since he clearly thought Ezra would just write them off and come with him.

I'm still amazed he didn't just kidnap him right there. Kenobi obsession too strong I guess.

Other people have already pointed out the irony of Maul screaming at Ezra to forget the past and his attachments while himself being obsessed with the past and clearly trying to use Ezra as a Replacement Goldfish for Savage but I'll mention that anyway.

You know, the Fridge Horror of this episode is really unsettling. I know at least one fanficcer and @better-call-mau1 have asked the question of how, exactly, does possessing Kanan and Sabine allow the Nightsisters to rebuild their clan? They're either going to use Kanan and Sabine to perform some kind of freaky necromancy ritual, use them to lure other Rebels in (seems like it'd have limited effectiveness, eventually Rebel Command would decide retrieval isn't worth it), or they would rebuild the clan using more... ah... conventional means.

Add that unsettling thought to how possessed Sabine seems to stalk Ezra, specifically, while the possessed Kanan returns to the altar and fkhkhffjhjhgggfgjjjj--

Yeah.

"That doesn't belong to you!" "Then take it from me, Jedi!" Are they talking about the darksaber or Sabine's body?

...Yes.

This music cue is amazing. Possessed Sabine scrabbling on the ground like a feral animal while Ezra just calmly Force Pushes her out of the threshold is excellently staged.

Well that's a heart eyes expression if I ever saw one lol.

Sometimes I like to listen to different language tracks for specific dramatic parts of shows or movies, to see how other actors do it, compare performance notes and kjsahfkajshfkajh one of the Chinese Nightsister-possessed Kanans was one of the most horrifying scary things I've ever heard.

This scene is just heartwrenching. A lot of this episode was spoiled in the trailers so this maybe didn't have as much dramatic impact as it should have had at the time but I still found it pretty gut-punching. A little short, maybe. That's about it.

This is one of Ezra's finer moments, frankly, outsmarting and defeating the Nightsister spirits. You really feel the care he has for Kanan. Love it. <3

From the moment Ezra said that the answer to destroying the Sith was "Obi-Wan Kenobi" I think I knew it was a false flag and what Maul had manipulated him to see. Because, obviously, they key is Luke.

Interesting how Ezra thinks if Obi-Wan doesn't, eventually, fight, that the Sith can't be stopped. He's pinning a lot of hopes on a man who doesn't, ultimately, wind up being the narrative Chosen One who accomplishes that task. Again, more on that later in "Twin Suns".

Ezra seems to pay Sabine a glance as he passes, aww.

*PORTENTS OF CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT*

This episode is one of my favorites, and the "Haunted" mental connections are only one of the reasons why. It's got great dialogue, creepy suspense, adorable subtle Sabezra moments, furthering of Maul's slow mental degradation and descent into full ruin, and Ezra gets to be amazingly self-sacrificing, brave, and awesome in it. What's not to love?

Prompt: Hi! Could you possibly write an imagine where it’s shortly after A Night At The Opera comes out and the reader is dating Roger and he walks in on her singing and dancing along to I’m in Love With My Car as she makes dinner?

As the frost bit into Roger’s skin, his boots hopped up the icy steps to your shared apartment with a slight spring in them, his hands blue and trembling slightly as he shoves them into his jean pockets and fumbles around a moment trying to find his key. His breath rattles out of him in thin streams of strokes that disappear into the frosty breeze like shooting comet trails as he shakes himself down lightly, little snowflakes tinkering down off the skin of his cheeks like confetti as a red blush spreads over his cheeks. His boots stomp onto fresh snow that covers the landscape in a smothering white blanket as he reaches the door, shoving the key into the lock in manic desperation, his hand jangling around wildly as he begs the door to open, having spent the last six hours in the studio daydreaming of nothing but you, Brian having to often elbow him slightly in the ribs to pull him out of his sweet dreams, but to little avail as his face fell blank again and his eyes went misty and far away.

He thumps his rucksack down on the hallway carpet as soon as his feet step in, the door closing behind his back allowing the dimming sunset to fall warmly against his tired shoulders as he shrugs his jacket off, his bronze necklace dangling against the bare skin of his chest revealed in between the open collars of his sable black shirt. Padding lightly down the hallway, his white socks heavy and tired as their pounds echo through the walls like an angry toddler, Roger stretches his arms above his head, wondering whether you would be home yet or if he would have to spend yet another few hours in agony, lying on the sofa as he blows out frustrated breaths, his fingers wrangling together as his feet tap against the arm rest, waiting and waiting and even more impatiently waiting for the love of his life to come home and spend the rest of the evening in his needy arms.

However, his train of thought, and simultaneously the steps of his feet are interrupted by a loud hum blasting through the doorway of the kitchen, before a slightly out of tune warble hits his ears and he a slight grin twitches on his face as he hears: ‘The MACHINE of a DREAM OOOHHH’.

His hand comes up to stifle the laughter that rumbles in the back of his throat  like bursting bubbles as he shakes his head slightly, popping it around the doorway to see you twirling through the kitchen in nothing but your pyjamas, a spatula in your hand as a frying pan fizzles and boils like a witch’s cauldron on the hob, the delicate scent of Roger’s favourite meal filling his nose and making him thump his head against the door frame, his eyes squeezed shut in bliss.

‘Such A ClEaN MACHINE’. Roger bites on his lips slightly, his heart swelling over at your actions as he knows you hated to see him so angry and upset when the song was first written, being the one to coax him out of the cupboard with gentle kisses to the temple and the soft caressing of hands as his temper flared and objects nearly flew throughout the room. His eyes lid slightly, gazing at you as you twirl and saunter over the cold kitchen tiles with a bright smile gracing your face, wishing he could be so care free and full of life as you are, and as beautiful and exquisite as you look doing it. His teeth let go of his bottom lip, their cherry look itching slightly at their new plumpness as his breath hitches slightly in his throat, his eyes following you blankly like a lost puppy wondering how he managed to capture such an angel, dancing around in the last strays of light like rose petals flowing majestically through the spring breeze, lighting up his dull eyes with excitement and devotion as you shout another ‘with the pistons a pumpin!’

He couldn’t take it anymore, his shirt ruffling against his thumping heart that twirls roughly in his chest like beating butterflies as he runs towards you, his arms wrapping around your waist and lifting your squealing form up under the dim lights, the spatula gripped in your hand falling onto the floor and splashing grease over the tiles as you switch it for Roger’s fingers, his knuckles white as they grab onto yours and don’t let go. Twirling you slightly in his grasp, slight hoarse chuckles erupting from his lips which are buried into the curve of your neck he nearly slips on the floor, his breath brushing warm against your skin as he nestles into you. Your hair tickles his chest as his nose bumps against the side of your cheek, a smile brightening his face as he whispers ‘what would I do without you, my love?’

Taari steps forward excitedly.

Taari: Me! Me!

Zahra crosses her arms and grins.

Zahra: Great! My favorite among you gets to go.

Reginald is startled by Zahra’s comment.

Reginald: Wait... “favorite”?

Zahra: Hey, if you guys have been friends with me or the other Catalysts for the past ten years, then you have the right to complain.

Reginald pouts and crosses his arms while the other kids smile shyly at him. Taari and Zahra then take their positions on the battlefield, while the others go to their seats. I.R.I.S., on the other hand, acts as referee for the match.

I.R.I.S.: Please proceed with calling out your Pokémon in this One-on-One match.

Taari and Zahra pull out their respective pokéball and call out their respective partners.

Zahra: Come out, Honchkrow!

Taari: I’m counting on you, Gallade!

Gallade majestically lands on the ground like a knight, while Honchkrow spins at the sky, releasing purple glitters of Dark-type energy around her.

I.R.I.S.: Let the battle.... COMMENCE!

The moment I.R.I.S. begins the battle, Taari initiates his tactics.

Taari: Let’s do this, Gallade. Use Psycho Cut!

Gallade’s elbow blades extend themselves as they begin to glow pink. Gallade then swings his arms and a few blades of psychic energy make their way towards Honchkrow. Meanwhile at the audience seats, Blight squints his eyes in confusion.

Blight: ....What?

As soon as the psychic blades hits Honchkrow, they immediately fade away, doing no damage to the Big Boss Pokémon. Taari is surprised by the outcome.

Taari: What?! How?!

Reginald stands up and lectures Taari.

Reginald: Honestly, how are you going to be Champion if you don’t even know type ineffectiveness?! Psychic-types have absolutely no effect on Dark-types, Taari!

Taari: ....Ooohhh, okay.

Everyone does a facepalm, disapppointed at Taari. Zahra continues the battle.

Zahra: Yeah... Moving on... Honchkrow, use Brave Bird!

Honchkrow flies upwards and immediately dives down. Before she could reach the ground, she quickly turns 90 degrees towards Gallade at high speeds.

Taari: Hurry, Gallade. Block it with Aerial Ace!

Gallade’s right elbow blade extends as it glows white this time. He then tries to shield himself from Honchkrow’s Brave Bird. Although Gallade is still damaged by the attack, he was only able to take about half of it. Zahra scoffs.

Zahra: That won’t help, squirt! Honchkrow is still not done.

Taari grins.

Taari: Now, bring her down and use Thunder Punch!

Gallade swings his arm downwards, making Honchkrow face downwards, thus sending herself on the ground. Her beak is then planted on the battlefield and she struggles to get it off. Gallade then flips over Honchkrow and while in the air, he clenches his fist as electricity starts to surge through it. He swings his fist towards Honchkrow’s back and slams her body to the ground with a super-effective attack.

Zahra: From Zero to Hero, huh? Good going, squirt.

Honchkrow manages to get her beak off the ground and gets back up in the sky. Gallade takes a cautious battle stance.

Zahra: Our turn. Honchkrow, use Heat Wave and Dark Pulse!

Blight sighs while everyone else looks at him, confused.

Blight: I knew she’d use that.

Vishakha: You know that combo?

 Blight: “Know that move”?! I helped her create that combo. It’s called...

Zahra: ...Dark Drought!

Honchkrow begins to whip up winds of immense heat around Gallade. The Blade Pokémon begins to sweat and breathes heavily.

Taari: Gallade, get outta there!

However, due to the immense heat, Gallade is unable to move. Honchkrow then fires a beam of purple rings, each filled with Dark energy, across the battle field. The purple rings shatter and darkness fills the room. 

Taari: Damn it... I can’t see a thing!

Honchkrow continues her assault by flying around Gallade in circles. She brings the entire heatwave with her towards Gallade, concentrating all of that heat in one small area. She then flies away from the tower of dark heat as she watches Gallade receive a ton of damage.

Zahra: Try to break free from that...

Taari: Oh, we will. Gallade, use Aerial Ace!

Zahra: It’s not gonna work, squirt!

But suddenly, something vertically splits the tower in half. The dark heat wave dissipates and Gallade is now safe from harm. Though he may be hurt, he has grown stronger. Taari smiles at his friend’s strength, while Zahra is surprised.

Taari: Yeah!

Zahra: Wha?!

Elena realizes the situation.

Elena: I see! His Gallade’s ability is Justified.

Kaitlyn: What does it do?

Elena: Whenever Gallade is hit by any Dark-type move, his attack stats increase.

Mika: And since Honchkrow’s Dark Drought is half Dark-type due to Dark Pulse, he was able to get stronger.

Gallade composes himself and fully extends his elbow blades as he and Taari are about to reach the endgame of the battle. Zahra grins.

Zahra: Now that’s what I’ve been looking for in a battle. Now, let’s try to make this interesting. Honchkrow, use Aerial Ace!

Honchkrow’s wings glows white as she flies towards Gallade. She then tries to swing one of her wings at him, but not before...

Taari: Gallade, use X-Scissor!

Gallade crosses his arms and they start to glow lime green. He then blocks Honchkrow’s attack with one arm and attack her with the other. The battle has reached into the point of a sword fight. Each attack is either blocked or parried with neither side getting the upper hand. The sword fight seemed endless until Honchkrow was able to break Gallade’s guard.

Taari: No!

Zahra: Now... FINISH HIM!

With Gallade having no time to guard, Honchkrow raises her wing, ready to swing it at Gallade. Leaving himself no choice, Taari takes a risk.

Taari: Use your head!

Gallade quickly uses the hardest part of his head to block the Honchkrow’s attack, which was supposed to hit his much weaker torso. The Big Boss Pokémon and Zahra are startled.

Taari: Now, use one last Thunder Punch!

Gallade looks up, grinning, and clenches his fist. Electricity begins to surge through his arm and he swings upwards, hitting Honchkrow with an electric uppercut. She is then launched upwards and immediately falls on the ground. However, she was still able to stand up. Taari and Gallade are surprised by this.

Taari: B-But... how?!

Zahra: Calm down, squirt... You won...

Zahra and Honchkrow grin as the latter succumbs to the damage she receives and faints. I.R.I.S. declares the winner.

I.R.I.S.: Honchkrow is unable to battle. Taari and his Gallade claims victory.

While Zahra returns Honchkrow back to her pokéball, Taari rushes to Gallade and embraces him.

Taari: Yeah!

Zahra approaches the Vaanti boy and grins.

Zahra: Heh. Nice job, squirt.

“You ate my dinner!”

King looked incredulously at the impossibly tall human who was leering over him, sharp canines showing with his smile. He looked again at the empty dish, the bits of crust sticking to the top of the ceramic bowl the only indication it had ever contained the fish pie he had been so looking forward to. He felt his face go red - he always did rise to visible anger more easily in this form - as his jowls shook with his rage. Ban meanwhile just grinned at him, downing the last dregs of his ale before placing the stein leisurely on the table, the very picture of nonchalance.

“I heard you let a cat beat you over one of these~” Ban fluted as he leaned back in his chair, his eyes falling closed. “I’m safe from you I reckon.” At this King spluttered, feeling his face turn even more red, as if that were possible.

“You look as if steam’s coming out of your ears,” Ban murmured, lazily opening one eye.

“Spirit Spear Chastiefol…”

“That’s enough of that!” The bartender of Yawn Of The Black Cat came into view, standing over the pair, his hands on his hips and his face like thunder. “I told you Sins, no fighting in here! It took me three weeks to clean up last time!” King scrunched up his face, forcing himself to take deep breaths as Ban cackled like a harpie next to him. Unable to stand anymore, King got up from the table, shooting the immortal a furious look before practically running out of the pub. Why is it he seemed to spend three-quarters of his time in this form being humiliated by his supposed comrades?

Stomping through the streets of Liones, King felt his anger grow: it was not fair! Why did Meliodas and the others let Ban behave this way? It wasn’t even as if he had real power, not in the proper sense. That stealing thing of his really didn’t count. He had complained to The Captain, several times, in no uncertain terms, always to find his legitimate concerns brushed off. The Captain and Ban got on well of course, and perhaps such refusal to see reason was to be expected, but Merlin had been the same. She had listened, or at least pretended to, while he spoke at length of Ban’s shortcomings, nodding her head sagely as he talked. After half an hour or so, she had held up her hand, silencing him as her amber eyes flashed. “Just put up with it,” she had advised as King spluttered indignantly.

Lost in his thoughts, King was just on the point of realising he had no idea where he was going when a welcome shadow covered him, blocking out the unbearable heat of the sun. He spun round, his face burning as if on fire as he took in the giant’s cute amethyst eyes and her signature pigtails. He had thought he would never see her again, and now here she was, living and working alongside him. It was like a dream come true, or it would have been if he didn’t have to hide his true self. It was hot work walking around in this body suit of flab.

“King, are you okay?” Diane asked, her head tilted to one side in that adorable way and instantly King felt his remaining anger melt.

“D-Diane… just… I’m fine,” he muttered, finding himself unable to form intelligible words as he looked up at her. Why couldn’t he go back to the way he had been with her before? When he was the one who knew things? Somehow after he had left her, Diane had not just grown up, she had surpassed him. The thought did his ego no good, and he felt himself trying to shrink as Diane leaned towards him.

“I can tell when you’re lying, silly,” Diane sang lightly as she leaned down towards him. “Come on, let’s got for a walk. It’s a lovely day!”

She was right, it was. The sun shone bright in the clear blue sky, not a single cloud to be seen and there was barely a breeze, the slight wind fluttering pleasantly against his cheeks. Summoning Chastiefol, King floated up towards Diane and together they made their way out of the city gates, the Holy Knights on duty waving to them as they passed. The verdant grass looked soft and inviting and King felt the urge to take a nap, but with Diane that was never an option. She always had more energy than was reasonable.

They moved at pace, heading towards the shade of the nearby forest and all at once King felt his heart ache. The cool, almost wet feel of the air on his skin was enough to bring memories flooding back; the blushing pink leaves of the sacred tree, the fluttering fairies laughing as they played and the glowing fountain of youth, Elaine standing beside it. How long had it been since he had seen her now? Too long…

“You’re very quiet, you sure there’s not something wrong?” The sweet sound of her voice brought him back to the present. The forest was not the same of course; the trees were still and sparse, the light streaming through in great rivers rather than tiny trickles, and the smell was wrong. This part of the world, the woodlands were filled with pine trees rather than majestic oaks, and the fresh smell of resin tickled his nostrils. It was not unpleasant, but a far cry from home.

“Ooohhh,” Diane squealed and she thudded towards a small clearing. King followed more slowly, the splash of a small brook and chirping of birds beckoning him forward. As he approached, King took in the sight; the clearing was full of flowers, the bouquets of vibrant colour dazzling his eyes. The soil must be particularly fertile here.

“These are my favourites!” Diane gushed, pointing at a bunch of white gerberas growing by the side of the stream. “I don’t know why but they remind me of something… It’s so silly, every time I try and focus on it, the memory slips further away. Do you think it means anything?”

King stood stock still, slowing sinking to the ground so Diane could not see his expression. Of course it did; those were the very same flowers that he had bewitched so as to erase Diane’s memories, knowing that he had to leave her forever to avenge his friend.

“They seem to mean something important, something to do with why I went back to my clan.” Diane’s voice was soft and sad, enough to break King’s heart. They had been so happy, and he had abandoned her, robbing her of all recollection of their time together in the process. But it was all for her own good of course. He had planted the suggestion that she return to the giants, knowing that she would follow the call of home in her confused state.

“I don’t know why I did that…” Diane fell silent, sitting down beside the clump of flowers, gently stroking the soft petals, “I wish I hadn’t.”

“W-why? What happened?” The question was out before King could stop himself. He had thought she would be safe, cared for, cherished even. He had congratulated himself for his quick thinking at the time. But as he looked at Diane’s sorrowful face he knew, and it felt like a heavy blow to the chest. “They’re your clan. Surely…”

“All they know is how to fight!” Diane’s hand which had gently been stroking the flower petals clenched into a fist and King looked up to see a glowering expression on her innocent face. It was so incongruous, so unlike her, that the breath caught in his lungs. “They don’t care about anyone, not even their own children. All they care about is honour and victory and violence.”

King stood stock still, his feet planted on the ground as he tried to process what Diane was saying. She had been unhappy, and it was his fault. For seven hundred years they had lived together in that cave, taking care of each other, and he had promised, promised her faithfully that he would not let her down. And yet he had, just like everyone else in his life. This was yet another example of how he had failed those around him.

“I’m sorry!” he blurted out, his eyes downcast.

“It’s not your fault silly!” Diane replied in her customary cheerful voice. “The giants have always been like that. That’s why my parents smuggled me out - they didn’t want me to fight like some sort of machine. They wanted me to think for myself, defend others and stand up for what was right. And… somehow, I don’t know how… I learned to do that. Someone must have taught me I guess but I don’t know who. My memories are all hazy…” As Diane broke off, her eyes strayed back to the flowers, her brow creasing in thought and King suddenly realised the danger he was in.

“We should get back,” he murmured, trying to sound regretful. “The Captain said…”

“Oh, The Captain wants us?” Diane enthused, her eyes shining with happiness. She sprang to her feet, the ground trembling slightly with the force of her movement. She stretched her hand down, and King stepped on, allowed the giantess to convey him to her shoulder. He jolted slightly as she set off at what was practically a gallop, heading back towards Liones.

“Do you think The Captain will ever like me?” Diane asked thoughtfully, panting slightly with the exertion as she ran. “I adore him so…” King knew this of course - Diane had made no secret of her infatuation - but it still hurt like hell. He loved her, more than anything in the world and he knew, deep down, she cared for him too. But how could he tell her, especially now? Surely she would hate him if she found out he was the one who had sent her back to her clan.

“I- I’m sure he will. I’m sure he does now,” King muttered, forcing the words out of his mouth. “How could he not?” There was a pause, and King held his breath. Perhaps… maybe… could she?

“This is what I love about you!” Diane sang into the silence. “You always give me hope. Of course he will, I just have to keep trying!”

As they continued back to Liones, King felt the ache in his chest blossom as he clung to the cloth at Diane’s shoulder. The ache that had been there for years, and would always remain.

Ooohhh driving you say? So if you had to pick, are you more of a '2 AM drive around the city' or the 'spontaneous road trip!' kind of a person? And omg yes! All eyes are majestic but some are sooo pretty!! This cousin of mine, she has those brown-almost-hazel eyes which turn green when she's standing in the sunlight and just wow they're so fascinating. And another question.. are there any idiosyncrasies of other people that you find.. say intriguing?

oh jeez...that’s a tough question!!! i LOVE both but in different moods...right now i’m definitely in the spontaneous road trip mood, especially because i can invite friends!! for my birthday last year me and my two best friends spontaneously drove to multnomah falls :-) it was the most fun i’ve had in a long long time....

Ooohhh are we talking about crushes? Mine is this guy from work. He's kind of stocky but it suits him really well. He has really long blonde hair and the only word I know how to describe it as is majestic. His voice is really deep and his laugh is contagious. He's really really nice and always helps me out at work when I have too much to do even when I don't ask him to. Ugh I wish I wasn't so shy so I could get to know him instead of just making small comments to him.
