help I've been brainrotting about soulmates all day

The funniest one is the one where your first words to them are on their wrist, because I always think about that one prompt where it was a star wars spoiler on someone's wrist

anyway I went and replayed the lessons to find out Mammon's first words to MC. And then this is where it gets iffy, because it depends on if they need to meet face to face to count

Because his first words are literally "Yoooo." on a phone call 😭 and MC can reply "Hi"/"Yooo." Otherwise, meeting face to face, it's "HEY! Just who do you think you are, human? You've got a lotta nerve summoning the Great Mammon." And MC's first words are either "All right, deal"/ "Uh-uh, I won't go along with this!"/ "..."

AND THEN ALSO, is it only humans that get soulmates? Imagine Mammon is the only one with writing on his wrist, or maybe Lilith too. And if she had writing, it clicks for everyone after she dies what it meant to have writing on your wrist. The rest of his brothers are constantly listening out for whatever words Mammon has on his wrist.

And if it's the "Hi" or "All right, deal", that's so tough because the first one is common, and the second one should be common as well when it comes to making deals/bargains/gambles. Also, MC walking around with whichever option is hilarious. "Who the hell is calling themselves the Great Mammon and why are they my soulmate?"

And like, with MC supposedly going to the past with Nightbringer, do their words change once in the past? Does a second set of words appear, or have they each always had two sets of words?

"You don't know me?"/" You seriously forgot who I am...?!" -MC first words in NB

Present MC/Mammon who, if they've always had two sets of words, constantly wonder what will happen between them. Because you could pair it with the writing being in your soulmate's handwriting, so each set would obviously be the same. So they know they're each other's soulmate, but why two sets of words? MC trying to lighten the mood and say "It just means we're together in every universe".

And then NB events happen and it clicks why there's two sets. And NB Mammon, along with all of his brothers possibly, probably freezing in their tracks hearing MC speak directly to Mammon. So soon after the fall and the war too.

BUT THEY ALL BELIEVE MC IS A DEMON IN THE BEGINNING SO THEY'RE LIKE "???". Maybe MC has their wrist covered as part of their disguise in this AU. That would be painful, having to lie/play dumb about soulmates and act confused meanwhile your heart is breaking on the inside lol

OOF the implications! Of course the timeline shenanigans make everything more complicated.

Make it even crazier and more confusing if Mammon has the past words and MC has the future words.

Because for MC, the OG lines from Mammon are the first words they hear from him, right? So that's either the phone call or what he says when he shows up face to face.

And the Mammon has the NB words from MC because technically that's his past, so they would be the first words he hears from MC.

Imagine hearing your soulmate's first words from you, but then realizing that your first words don't fit with what they have on their wrist.

Then NB happens but Mammon doesn't remember or even realize that MC heard the words on their wrist from him.

The suffering!

I actually quite like soulmate au type situations, but the first words one is complicated lol. Though what other sorts of things could indicate a soulmate? Like a red string or maybe just tattoo/symbols manifesting on you that match your soulmate's. I think I've seen ones where it's like you only see black and white until you meet them.

But I like the concept of always finding your soulmate in any timeline, especially since we have an easy set up for that in Obey Me! Like it doesn't matter how well you know each other or what time it is or what realm you're in, you always end up finding that person, you know?

Anyway, this has the potential for much angst, I think! Due to the part where MC might have to hide their words since it's only a human thing. That would be so hard. And you know they couldn't tell Mammon 'cause I don't think he could keep that secret lol.

Oof okay this one's rough, but I'll do it for you <3

Down below, I gave an explanation and then a small snippet, because that's the most you'll get of this fic in likely a very long time. But it turned into a pretty big rant about my insecurities surrounding this fic as explanation for why it hasn't had any progress in literal years, whoops. Sorry this is so long!

Basically this was one of the first fics I planned out back in 2022 when I really started properly writing fic. The last fics I'd written had been DC comics fics back when I was like 12. I think I said this once or twice, but your stories specifically actually inspired me to be like "no I CAN write a long fic actually!! Those non-porn-oneshot ideas don't just have to stay ideas forever!! I do have it in me!" which led to me plotting this fic.

I then got wayyyy too overzealous, posted a prequel (that I'm not super happy with now and would like to make some changes to before I continue posting), and plotted out the first half of a two-part longform series before I was really ready. It's halted for a number of reasons. Partly because I'm struggling to figure out what I want to really have happen in the second half of the story. The half I have plotted could be a full story in its own right, but it's meant to be continued, so the ending would be depressing and frustrating in an unsatisfying way if it wasn't continued in a second story after that. I'm stuck on a resolution, though, and on turning the ideas I have for the second half into a proper story.

Also, I got overthinking and made myself super insecure about characterization (especially in regards to Lee), as well as how much of the story was very directly inspired by several other big, incredible fics in the fandom by several different authors I hold in really high regard. The stress of living up to that inspiration combined with the fear that the story wasn't original enough in the form I had planned kind of put the brakes on the whole thing. And then I got distracted by a bunch of other fics that I felt more confident in. Horror is my strong suit, I think, and this is not that at all haha

On top of all this, there's a major plot point that comes to light near the end of the first half. It's the type of thing that I've seen written so well in a couple different fics, and so poorly in so many others. It's something that I know is not everyone's cup of tea, even when it's well-written. And I've been torn about how much to be up-front with this plot point and how much to hide it. I want people to know the direction the story is heading in for the sake of their own enjoyment; so people who wouldn't be into it can just avoid it from the get-go instead of getting invested first. But I don't want to spoil things too much. But also, if knowing the outcome of a story ruins the whole thing, then it just wasn't very well written, right? Knowing what happens later SHOULDN'T completely ruin the story. If it does, that's on me for not writing it as well as I should have.

This is the overthinking I've been doing lol this is why there's been no progress on this story. It's funny, because I probably have a higher percentage of this fic written than most of my other WIPs.

Basically, if/when I finish and continue posting this story, it's going to come after a great deal of planning and work. And I'm not going to continue it until I really sit down and parse through exactly what stories inspired it and in what capacity. And after that, if I feel that it's original enough, I'd still want to give links to the stories that inspired it when I post it.

I don't want to say TOO much about the premise, because there's a lot that's meant to be *dramatically revealed* as the story goes on, but I can give a general teaser: It starts with Lee, along with the rest of Team Gai, spending a year in Suna. In that time, Lee and Gaara begin a bit of a secret, illicit affair. Obviously, Gaara's position as Kazekage complicates things, but Gaara intends to make it happen for them anyway. Lee, however, has some hidden commitments of his own that puts an even bigger wrench in those plans. Then, the year is up, things have snowballed, and no one is ready to handle the fallout of Gaara and Lee's rush into things.

You get two mediocre snippets to make up for the lengthy anxiety ramblings <3 featuring Sand Sibs Bantering (+Shikamaru) and a first second kiss between Gaara and Lee.

“Alright. We’ll be stuck with them for the next year, so get any negative comments you have out of the way now.”

“If Neji’s still got a stick up his ass, I’m gonna have to be sick for a lot of meetings down the line.” Kankurou jumped in, ready to complain at any opportunity.

“He’s way more polite when he’s in diplomacy mode, trust me.” Shikamaru had finally - after years - adjusted to the siblings’ mean streaks. He took it in stride now. “Besides, he’s mellowed out recently now that Hinata is the acting head of the clan.”

“I don’t think Tenten likes me very much.” Gaara added, unwilling to speak too ill of allies, let alone friends.

Kankurou laughed at that, “She probably just doesn’t know what to do with you, man. You know how Konoha shinobi are, they wear everything on their sleeve. Sometimes Temari and I can’t even tell what you’re thinking."

“Besides," Temari interjected, with the slightest note of griping in her tone (which Gaara knew she would vehemently deny should she ever be accused of it; Temari did not gripe, according to herself and everyone in the world, save those who've known her their whole lives.) "I’m more worried about bowl cuts one and two. There’s only so much of that energy I can take before I want to pull my hair out.”

Gaara found himself responding before he even thought about it, “Lee is just… passionate.”

“Okay we’re supposed to be complaining about Team Gai here but I honestly gotta say–” Kankurou leaned on Gaara’s shoulder, “I really don’t get what it is with you and idolizing guys who beat your ass when you were twelve.”

“I’m not an arm rest.” Gaara’s sand pushed Kankurou away, “And it has nothing to do with that. He’s very dedicated to what he does. It’s respectable.”

“What you got a crush on the guy now?” Gaara’s almost choked on his own saliva, collecting himself when he realized his brother was just – once again – taking a joke further than it needed to be.

The last thing he needed was his siblings catching wind of his ridiculous train of thought as of late.

“That’s enough, you wasted your time with it.” Temari elbowed Kankurou until he straightened out his posture, motioning to the four who had just approached the chuunin on guard duty.

“Didn’t even get a good joke in about the jumpsuits…” She muttered.

Lee’s rambling was cut off as Gaara sighed, seemingly fed up with the circles they were going in.

“Did you enjoy it or not?” Gaara crossed his arms and shut his eyes as he asked, almost like he was waiting for a blow to come.

Of course Lee enjoyed it. That was the problem, not that he could reveal that to Gaara at the moment. He enjoyed it far too much, and if he was smart he would nip this in the bud before it continued any further. Unfortunately, that would require lying, which he was never very good at.

“Yes…” but- he tried to say. The word stuck in his throat.

He didn’t want there to be a but.

Gaara’s eyes opened at that and his posture seemed to relax a bit. His torso shifted slightly as he breathed in, like something flowed through him, bringing him to life.

He took a step closer to Lee. Lee leaned in unconsciously. Gaara had to tilt his head up to look directly into Lee’s eyes.

“Do you want to do it again?” His eyes flicked down to Lee’s mouth, his neck, his chest, before pulling back up to his eyes. There was something there on Gaara’s face – a challenge, almost.

Lee could never resist a challenge, even against his absolute best judgment.

If the question was that simple…

“Yes.”

The word had barely left his mouth before Gaara reached up and pulled their faces together.

This kiss was different from the first. Where the previous evening was all hesitance and sweetness, there was a desperation behind this one – a heat coming from them both, creeping down their necks and filling the room.

One kissed turned into two, three, four… And Lee found his tongue creeping out to meet Gaara’s halfway.

🖋️"what inspired you to write your WIPs?"

donut wip was inspired by my frustration at not being able to finish a story, and i thought if i just plotted out an easy, straight to the point, horror novel (cuz whoops donut wip is straight horror p much) that i’d be able to finish it. i wrote like 15 chapters in 2 weeks and then burned myself out when i started a new job in 2021 BUT as i was thinking about it, more and more could i see it fitting into the universe that already existed in jenna the reaper. but… there was no bridge from point a (college horror) to point b (high school supernatural horror literally across the country)

this is where the inspo for noi, alone came in. i’d had noi as a character in some form, for about as many years as i’ve had jenna but i never knew what to DO with them. but it seemed so perfect to make them the bridge between juls and jenna’s stories, even if they must also go through the horrors 😔 them having a demon entity thing in their eye was always a thing so that makes the transition even better (well, worse for them but better for plot)

and then jenna… tbh i never “had” inspiration for jenna. i was literally chilling at my ex’s house in hs when all of a sudden jenna just knocked on the door of my brain like “hey yeah i’m here now.” with all her plot already figured out LMAO. 💀💀 so in case you were wondering she’s always been like this. all i’ve really done is just tweak it and fit it better into the world with the other two wips, and add stuff on etc etc.

mason at the airport sort of came about from me wanting to take a slightly different direction with liminal spaces, like explore different kinds?? so mason’s story, while it’s in the universe it is Slightly different than the rest of them just cuz i wanted to try something new and LESS horrific lmao

honestly for all of these wips it’s just attention span. i enjoy all these stories but sitting down and writing them since 2021 and i burned myself out on donut wip has been a challenge. i’m hoping i can come back around to wanting to write them, but it’s probably gonna be a Long while (cuz i’m projecting in terms of original projects, i’ll write paramour then vampires don’t take road trips and then perhaps after i’ll come back to these)

I WAS SO EXCITED THAT I GOT THIS ASK AND THEN I FORGOT ABOUT IT WHOOPS-

I was gonna maybe do quick sketches to go along with this ask, but I don't have the time rn and I drew them for this dumb meme a while ago anyways. I'm just really talking about my main villain kids here, and also a bonus girlie 👀. Also some of these aspects, especially in later parts, are a little underbaked. I haven't really rewatched Jojo in a while (and I also have yet to finish part 6, let alone even sniff at the manga) so if it contradicts with Jojo canon... don't talk to me lmao /lh

So, let's start off with Ciliegia, my DIO kid. She's also Giorno's twin sister. She seems aggressive and a little scary, but she's actually just a lil chihuahua. She can and will hurt you if deserved, but she's also just a lil guy you know? A lil vampire lady who just wants head scratches and cherry lollipops. She goes with Giorno to join the mafia, but it's kinda just because home and school suck and she wants to help keep him safe. She's got a crush on Fugo, which eventually develops into a real relationship later on (when exactly is a difficult question, because I haven't decided wether I want her to get on the boat or not. I have reasons for either side, but this section is long enough as it is...) She's also kind of "One of the Boys" but not in a Pick Me girl way (she and Trish have a very nice friendship :) ). Her stand, Dresden Doll, can essentially disintegrate anything (or anyone...) into an ash like substance, but she doesn't use it after a... pretty traumatic experience of her accidentally activating it.

Izei is my Kars and Esidisi kid, who was in the care of Santana as an infant during the events of Part 2. He, thus, was adopted by Stroheim without literally anyone else's knowledge... oof. Stroheim kept him to have further insight on Pillar Man development, but kinda had a father/son bond but the experimentations and the fact that Izei was cooped up in the facility all day really hindered that. He does end up in the care of Joseph and Suzi Q somehow as a teen though, and becomes besties with a younger Holly. He also joins the Speedwagon Foundation later, around Part 3, specialising in animals. I like to imagine, in this universe, he drops off Iggy to the crusaders. He doesn't get a stand, because he obviously doesn't really need one with his ultimate being ass dad, but he does inherit Esidisi's nifty heat powers (they are mostly used to reheat Joseph's coffee). He's a good, quiet lad, if a little snarky and rebellious at times.

Livia is my Diavolo kid, the product of a one-night stand. Her mother quickly became a drug addict when she was little, to cope with her young and single motherhood and being kicked out by family due to it. She has, therefore, probably had the worst backstory. Taking care of her mother, dealing with the often sleazy and aggressive boyfriends she brought home, living in poverty etc. And then her mother died of an overdose and Livia, not wanting to end up in foster care, ran away and got donuted by Diavolo in the process... but then her stand kicked in. Nine Inch Nails' ability is literal immortality (and also makes wounds heal faster - she can heal a papercut in under five minutes), but she can still feel the pain of everything, she just can't die, so it's not as fun as you might think.

Miel technically doesn't count, as she has no biological or even legal relation to Pucci, but idc lol. She sees him as a father figure anyways, as their dysfunctional family were very attentive in the church he preached at. I'm not sure exactly what role she plays in Part 6, but she is very much aware and on board with his whole plans, as he's one of the two people they trust. The other being a boy named Peter who they have a crush on, and he does reciprocate those feelings but she turns them down. She claims it's because she wants to be a nun and doesn't want to affect that, but it's really because witnessing her parents' terrible relationship really affected her. Their stand, Oh Klahoma, makes them able to disguise themselves in objects like desks and walls while still being able to see and hear.

Jamie is my Funny Valentine kid (even though I despise that man), originally from a separate universe where his wife can have kids and then brought into Part 7 by D4C. He actually really looked up to his dad until he met Lucy Steel shortly after being brought to this universe, which just so happened to be after the... you know. He didn’t look upon him so favourably after that (mmm... yummy rebellion arc). There's also stuff going on before he switched universes, like his dead boyfriend who was also engaged to someone else at the time... yeah. His stand, Achilles, can also see into the future, meaning he can change the future. It's a little tricky, though, as 1) he can't just choose to see the future, they just come as random prophetic visions and 2) he has no idea when these future visions are meant to be, they could be anything from five minutes to five years away.

Kia is my Tooru fankid. Not sure how exactly it happened, but one day a 17 year-old just popped out of the dirt like nothing. They were immediately taken in by a teenage boy who they almost immediately developed a crush on. Unfortunately, he's taken. Fortunately, Kia's stand, "Breaking Glass", allows him to shapeshift. So, he pretends to be the guy's girlfriend. If you feel bad for their crush, I would also like to say that he had a feeling it was Kia the whole time BTW and let them do it anyways... *sigh* men.

And lastly, as a bonus, Concetta! My Cioccolata/Secco kiddo. They should probably not be allowed anywhere near children, but their aesthetic and relationship is fun and I just had to. Concetta was raised by her dads up until the colleseum fight, which she was present for, and the police found her as a newly made orphan at ten years old. She goes through foster care for a couple of years, and then runs off to get revenge on Giorno. Just teenage girl things, yk? Her stand, Brittle Bones, allows her to take off her own limbs and have them still be fully functional without causing her pain... fun!!

but to answer your question: yes! I do have her in fc new dawn (or an au of it where boomer, jacob, and pratt all survive lol). like in canon, she ends up in dutch's bunker with joseph and boomer and jacob and staci end up in another one in the whitetails, unable to communicate with each other.

and. as you can imagine. with two deeply unwell and religiously inclined people stuck in a bunker for seven years together, they form a really weird religious co-dependent relationship. they lowkey make a new religion that's joseph's word with an even heavier serving of catholic guilt and syb is the only parishioner at that church. her identity slowly fades away/is stripped from her and she fully embraces the mantle of the Judge. (except her mask is a much cooler rabbit mask :'))

she's actually fairly happy (all things considered) after emerging from the bunker and reuniting with what remained of joseph's followers. the building of New Eden and providing for and protecting new life gives her a sense of purpose, of meaning that makes her finally feel like she's repenting for all the wongs she's done and blood she's spilled. i also like to think she's an influential figure among New Edener's distinct from joseph and that when joseph had left she was quietly made de-facto leader (at least for a brief amount of time)

i can't speak too articulately on how i'd tweak the fcnd canon for this au since i haven't actually finished the game. (was one of those i stopped playing about halfway through because of school but i never picked it up again oops). but no matter what, in the end im giving her peace, so she gets her cabin with jacob and boomer and any other stray dogs and they protect their people and they grow old she's suffered enough. she find peace and clarity <3

unfortunately syb does lose her tongue during the bunker years, so she can't have a verbal conversation with roger. BUT she does find the man incredibly entertaining. i have also thought about the two of them interacting many times. my favorite part about that scenario is that they speak two different regional dialects of french (syb's cajun while roger is (iirc) quebecois). so i think sometimes they have trouble understanding each other,

but i also like to think that roger mumbles something under his breath in french and The Judge (syb) snickers and roger is like "oh hello! you are my new best friend right now!" and the two actually do kinda end up being besties and are 100% talkin' shit

2. What are your favorite and least favorite things to draw?

My most favorite thing would of course be drawing my blorbos. But i mean generally I like drawing people. Im not that good at it but i like drawing facial expressions and hands. I also like drawing plants and designing botanical tattoos. Oh and i have made a lot of different art pieces with social justice messages that i am passionate about.

My least favorite thing to draw? Backgrounds. I just. Can't. Do it. Fml. 😅

6. What's one of the strangest things you've ever drawn?

Hmm here's one. I once did a logo design for a friend's metal band that had a rhino/chicken hybrid that was like screaming. Lol. It was definitely weird but I thought it turned out super cool. Also metal style lettering is hard af..

12. If you could magically & instantly improve at one art skill, what would it be?

Ugh this is hard question. And I literally came up with it lol. There's so many things I wish I was better at. But I guess I would pick being better at coloring. I wish I had a knack for understanding color theory. I suck at this.

15. Do you like to listen to music when you work? If so what do you listen to?

I almost always listen to music when drawing! It helps me focus and filter out background distractions. I listen to a wide variety of music depending on my mood, anything from heavy metal to lofi to J-pop, indie stuff, folk music, and lots more.

21. What did you like to draw as a kid? Do you have similar or different interests now?

I drew lots as a little kid and was interested in tons of different things. I made lots of ocs with superpowers and whatnot. I also liked to draw fantasy themed things like elves and fairies. Also dinosaurs 🦕 🦖 I've always been obsessed with dinosaurs.

22. What's your favorite art piece you've made this year?

Oof its hard to pick. Uh these are some different ones I've been pretty happy with. A fave fanart, digital painting, and a (small) traditional pet portrait.

finished watching tourabu stage plays 6 & 7 (Jiden & Iden). These were very fun and very different from all the previous plays; Jiden for the hanamaru slice of life vibes and Iden for the simple fact it’s nearly an entire new team of swords with neither yamanbagiri or mikazuki as a focus

Jiden was very much needed after all the drama that took place in Hiden. It was much more chill and funny and it was nice the entire thing took place in the honmaru. I actually really liked this set up for the stage - there were so many levels to it. Kinda glad chougi’s event was only briefly touched upon in the beginning so that him arriving at the honmaru could be the main focus cuz I literally have no idea what his special investigation plot was anyway lol. tbh chougi’s release was probably one of the last things I was aware of when I started falling out of/falling behind in touken ranbu and I have yet to look up what any of those events are actually about. All the new music was great and just added to the fun and lighthearted vibes. ngl the ending song here rivals my favorite honnouji ending song it’s so good. Also the guy who played Gokotai deserves all the points because holy hell he nailed it. It was definitely fun to see a bunch of other swords that might not otherwise have reason to be part of the stage plotline - even if they are just there to make the honmaru more lively. Thoroughly impressed the actors who played Jirotachi and Tarotachi wielded those massive swords with ease, tho it probably helps they’re tall lol I definitely wish they could have more involvement in the future stages cuz they’re just too cool to only be in one. Also very satisfied with yamanbagiri vs yamanbagiri. This whole thing was just wholesome.

OH ALSO I HAD NO IDEA THEY HAD A DIFFERENT SWORD FOR EACH CITY THEY PERFORMED IN I’d been wondering why sayo, honebami, and fudo were all on the cover when only Kasen was in the play but then I checked out the last cd and was like OH. but also I’m glad Kasen’s was the one that became the official thing (it’s always the fukuoka performance that goes on dvd/bluray right?) because I had no idea how starved I was for starter sword interactions until kasen, mutsunokami, and manba had a moment together. It just doesn’t feel the same with the other swords. I’m excited for the siege of osaka stages cuz one of them has manba and kashuu together and I know kashuu has technically been around from the start cuz his name was mentioned briefly in honnouji (original tho, not the rerun) and it’s about damn time he appears in the stage versions. Hopefully one day all 4 will appear together ;3

also *slams fists on table* KIWAME MANBA WHEN???????? I’ve seen the trailers for the siege of osaka stages and does it actually take place BEFORE hiden???? Manba’s not kiwame yet and Mikazuki is in the second one :( I always just assumed manba never went on a kiwame journey and they got a new mikazuki instead but after watching Jiden I clearly assumed wrong.

Iden obviously takes place after both Hiden and Jiden tho. now, for both of these things, usually I just watch what I got blind and without fansubs just for first impressions and to see how well I can follow without knowing much japanese and then post about it immediately after and find subs later. but this time I had to rewatch iden with subs before I posted anything about it cuz there was just one thing that bothered me and I wanted to be wrong about my assumptions. truth is, even with subs, I’m still not entirely sure if my assumptions are right or wrong. either way I do not like the anomaly. at all. I do not like what it implies and I hope it stays as an abandoned world thing and has nothing to do with the main timeline, but unfortunately the answers will have to be revealed in future stage plays. Tho funny enough, even tho watching with subs made me like Hiden less, it actually made me like Iden more.

This stage play was quite fun, I loved the dynamic of this new team of swords. Once again it covers a special investigation event that I was not around for and had no idea happened - these swords are more or less very new to me so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect or even who their previous owners were but it was fun to find out as the play went on. Ryoma’s story is another one I’ve got quite a bit of knowledge on - I’m also quite a huge fan of the Taiga drama Ryomaden - so I was already very interested to see how this story would play out. I’m not entirely sure how much of the event is accurate or covered in this one tho as I mentioned I have yet to look these things up. I was both relieved and disappointed they didn’t really get to meet in the end, but it makes sense. I’m not the biggest fan of these kinds of enemies, and with the amount of messing with time that’s been going on I’m surprised Kebiishi haven’t been considered as an enemy to show up yet. like I mean it was acknowledged once for a brief moment in one of the previous stages I can’t remember which but it was quickly brushed aside as the HRA are always the main enemy. also THIS STAGE SET UP IS SO FUN I LOVE IT and the projector just adds to it gosh all the moving stage pieces this is definitely my favorite stage set up so far <3 also the op and ed were prerecorded this time which threw me off at first but with how much these actors are moving around in this one they’d definitely be out of breath to sing.

welp as much as I love and miss manba it’s been very refreshing to follow a storyline that doesn’t involve him, and I’m very much looking forward to the next stage plays :3

1. I’m a photographer as well as a graphic artist (but not like. A painter/drawer kind of artist!) and, on a general level, a maker and a tinkerer!

2. Fountain pens! I only write with ink, and only with fountain pens, and I use bottled inks/converters!

3. I’m pretty eclectic with music, but my top genres are alt rock, indie, indie pop, etc, as well as top 40s and some rap.

4. I feel like this is the hardest one for me to answer? Favorite movies/shows? Avatar: the Last Airbender has been a favorite show of mine since I was a little kid, but I have a harder time thinking of shows I would call a favorite in recent years. There are shows I’ve liked, and a lot of shows I’ve watched. But I’m picky! And demanding! It takes a lot to earn a place in Dani’s Trophy Case of Favorites. 😌 I would say I quite liked A Quite Place (movie), and I liked Us (movie). When it comes to TV shows, I have a hard time being pleased with them if they don’t end well. As a result, I have a penchant for a good limited series/miniseries (because they’re stories that have an end in mind and the plot reflects that, dagnabbit).

In The Goodfellows? I think I stand I chance. I can exercise my sparkling wit and lovable personality to the best effect. I’m gonna give myself an 8/10 survivability rating. Even if I don’t have the right skills, I can go crying to the person who does and they’ll save me. Maybe.

In Creatures’ Cradle? I’m super $**!%d. 😌 1/10 survivability rating. And that 1 is me being nice to myself. The day the apocalypse breaks out I would probably be patient 0. I am self-aware. I would not do well in an apocalypse. Zombies care not for aforementioned sparkling wit and lovable personality, and I have all the muscle of a boiled spaghetti noodle. So it’s a no go.

Greater Than Gods (Cruz): Well. I’m going to be optimistic. And say that I have the wisdom not to do things I shouldn’t do and not to rock boats I shouldn’t rock. I’m going to give myself a 7/10 based on insider information, but also based on reckless optimism!

Vardir (Cruz): Cruz says this is a lighthearted game, so 10/10 LOL.

When it Hungers (Roast): I’m giving myself a nice, mediocre 5/10. I think I could put my mind to work here; I joke that I’m the village idiot, but I’m actually pretty smart! Unfortunately, I’m also curious, and maybe a little bad with authorities who won’t answer my questions. So I knocked off a lot of points due to the fact that I’d probably poke the metaphorical bear. So it’s a real coin flip as to whether I’d really make it or not.

Orthall Bay (Nines): Considering the genre is “horror” and the game intro includes the words “monster” and “maim,” I’m giving myself a whooping, enthusiastic 3/10. Yes, folks, I am that confident in myself! Once again, I can’t charm the socks off a monster (or can I?), so one of my greatest weapons is snatched from beneath my feet. Alas!

I'm gonna give myself a solid 5/10 in all other WIPs because y'all aren't writing lighthearted stories either. I feel like as long as I avoid the role of the MC I will be mostly fine. I hope. But as Dani said I'm also prone to fight the wrong person and dig my own grave so 😌

1. Well, writing is a very, very, very, distant hobby since Words Hard, but I like to crochet and sculpt a little! Anything to do with fiddling with my hands and I’m good to go. And like, debatable but graphic design is my passion [insert clown emoji here since Tumblr said No]

2. Oh yeah a bunch! DnD yelling at people, thinking of arson, crocheting, rock climbing and simply vibing. I got into podcasts a few years ago and I’m always looking for more recs, so if you have some, hmu 😤

3. Pls,,,,my music taste is,,,so weird do not let me expose myself with lack of consistency but uhh. Current songs that are stuck in my head include; Cult of Dionysus , Achilles Come Down and The Last Shanty  

4. If you’ve ever spoken to me before, I probably yelled about Pacific Rim to you or at you. Plus I love all The Mummy films and really enjoyed Castlevania (s3 excluded, we do not perceive that) as well!

Creature’s Cradle: maybe a 4/10 and only because of pure spite keeping me alive long enough to smack someone. I’ve prepared for hypothetical  zombie apolcapyses and I won’t hesitate to bap, but will be bapped back because I’m weak as hell. 

Greater Than Gods: a toss up between 2/10 and 7/10! I can vibe and be chill but I also have terrible impulse control so... 

Vardir: hm....I think pretty good survival rates all around? If you ask me to fight then like, okay sure, your knees are mine. So maybe a 8/10? 

When it Hungers: .......8/10 just because I’d refuse to die if I can be a cool creature. Living for the aesthetic can and will drag me outta hell. But I’m also clumsy as hell so I’d probably crash as a porcelain or hold a rooster and perish (aka, real rating is a good 3/10) 

Orthall Bay: 2/10, nope. Nope I’d be taken out in a heartbeat. Monsters can go pspsps and I’d head straight into the dark creepy forest like a fool if someone comes @ me. Half the time I’ll just assume it’s sfx makeup and vibe until it’s too late.

1. If I'm not writing, I'm usually watching video essays on Youtube. My go-to channels as of right now is Disrupt and Aperture! I just really like their videos. Aside from that, I recently got into podcasts. Currently going through Hello From The Hallowoods and Shelter and Warning, which are made by queer creators!

2. Oh oof, there's quite a bit so I'm just gonna put down one thing. For some reason, I really got into collecting tiny astronaut things? I recently bought this astronaut desk light, and I've got a package coming in for the miniatures I ordered. No purpose for them other than I think they're neat <3

3. I'm a bit private with my music taste (even tho I have Spotify connected on Discord lmao), but there's 5 songs that I'm currently obsessed with. I keep replaying them over and over again. Just squeezing all the serotonin I could get outta them.

4. I can't really say I have a fave TV show or movie because I can't really just pick one, but my current fave is 9-1-1 and Resident Alien. 9-1-1 because I just really love the found-family dynamics and how the show tackles sensitive topics, and Resident Alien because it's lighthearted comedy. My all-time fave movie is Flipped! I have the book too and I like rereading from time to time <3

Maybe I'm overestimating myself, but I think I'll be able to survive in a supernatural post-apocalyptic world! Ah, but it depends on the motivation though. I like the idea of rebuilding communities and eventually societies, but the survival turmoil would be a constant battle I'd have to overcome. If we're talking survival itself though, I think I'll do well.

When it Hungers: 8/10

That's probably my wishful thinking but I think I'll be fine. Maybe. Possibly. Don't like the idea of being regulated by an organization so if I was a non-human creature that could pose a problem but I can roll with it <3

Assuming I'm not playing as MC, my chances of survival uhhh changes quite drastically. Not enough to guarantee an untimely demise, but certainly enough that it would constantly keep me on my toes. I think that's the safest answer I can get without spoiling anything lmao

1. Too many :'D I knit, I sew, I do carpentry (well, learning), I bake, I'm hammering away at HTML and CSS, my job kind of encourages learning new things and I take that to picking up new hobbies!

So I want to start reading Marvel comics, but I honestly have no idea where to start. Online? Paper copies? Do you read them in order or is it ok to pick and choose?

Anyway. Any advice?

Very good question over here :D

First off, I am broke and comics aren't even sold where I live and I would have to order them... no thanks. I read all of them online on pirate sites, whoops. I mostly use readcomiconline.li, it's a pretty good database (only downside is that there are ads and a lot of them are lewd, it's like pirating a movie you gotta close them and then it's ok)

So! Comics! It really depends on what you want to read! I mostly read Avengers and Captain America comics, plus sometimes Spider-Man and all the different crossover events, so I'm not the best if you're not looking for those specifically.

However! When I first got into comics, I looked up some reading guides and stuff and they usually pointed me the right way. One of the first (if not the first) of Marvel comics I read was the original Civil War, which is only like 7 issues without the tie-ins (some of the original comic runs go for even hundreds of issues! Spider-Man from the 60s is like 800 issues).

I think Civil War is a good one to start on when you know the events from the movies, just to compare them if not anything else. I have to say I was surprised by some of the things that went on in there oof, and be ready for some really wild shit haha.

As for order, it doesn't really matter when it comes to individual runs (By the way a run is a collection of issues usually by the same writers and artists and it follows one cohesive story). Only within a run you should read them chronologically because that's how the events unfold in the story too. Different runs might mention previous events from other stories but those are usually small references, unless it was a big big event that affected all of the marvel universe.

Not sure if you're aware of this, but the main comic plotline and universe is called Earth-616, that's where all the main things go on. Alternate universes have different numbers assigned. Most notorious is Earth-1610 aka the Ultimates, which reimagined the heroes in a more serious, modern setting. The MCU is based off of these, combined with 616. I read some and I didn't like them all that much (very edgy and some stuff was seriously messed up like: Hank Pym beats his wife Janet, Hulk ate the chitauri leader, Tony has a sentient brain tumour, Red Skull is Steve's son, and I'm pretty sure Pietro and Wanda were in an incestous relationship, ew...). But! It did give us Miles Morales so. Silver linings.

Anyway. Just to throw out some suggestions of comics I either enjoyed reading or saw recommended a lot:

Matt Fraction's Hawkeye (2012) (deemed most iconic version of Clint)

Captain America Vol. 5 (2005) (this is the one that redefined the character, had the Winter Soldier storyline, and goes all the way to Civil War + Bucky as Cap)

Captain America (2017) (but ignore issue 25# and go straight to #695-#704. This one has references to Secret Empire /hydra cap storyline/ because it happens right after it and it's just. nice short stories that i absolutely adore)

Captain America: Sam Wilson (2015) (Sam Cap! This one follows the events of the 2014 Cap run and eventually Pleasant Hill... and then Secret Empire, which is uhh problematic but not a bad story over all and Sam Cap is always a win!)

Spidey (2016) (This one is just a delightful collection of Peter teaming up with other heroes and having misadventures! It's quite short too, just 12 issues)

Avenging Spider-Man (2012) (Also Peter teaming up with various characters but like, more serious)

Miles Morales: Spider-Man (2019) (The latest Miles run and I'm not all caught up yet but I like it a lot!)

Jonathan Hickman's Avengers (2013) (I haven't finished this one because it has a ton of characters but a lot of people consider it to be THE Avengers run)

Marvel Adventures: The Avengers (2006) (Unrestrained summer fun. If you're looking for light-hearted stories, this one is perfect)

Avengers (2018) (Current Avengers run. I rather like this one! It does reference a ton of stuff so I wouldn't start with this one)

Phew, that took a fair bit of googling haha!

Then there are also crossover events, which unsurprisingly cross over a LOT of the characters (bigger than Avengers). I cannot vouch for these because they are usually very hit or miss but they're not too long. Those that I've read include: Civil War I. and Civil War II., Secret Empire, Avengers vs. X-Men, Avengers Disassembled + House of M, Absolute Carnage, King In Black, War of Realms, Empyre... there is a lot of these lol, it's best to look up the descriptions and decide whether you want to read them or not.

There are also countless What Ifs and alternate universe stories. Those usually have to be specifically searched for and 90% of the time they're absolutely bonkers.

And I think that about covers it! Wow, that was a mouthful. I hope it was helpful! Really I think you should pick a character and look up reading orders, there are a lot of people who organised those a lot better than I ever could haha.
