opening random encanto yt videos’ comments section is like staring at the waking storm you’re about to plunge into and knowing it’s not gonna be pretty and you’re probably not getting out of it unscathed (aka calm/happy fine—also sorry pepa oof—)

god the amount of misinterpretations people have with the movie, with so many scenes is insane, i’m about to go even more insane myself than usual

it’s so frustrating and i want to throw my phone every time AAAAAAA

but anyway yes, i wrote this ask in the first place to ask about your thoughts on different details and plot points and just general stuff of the movie that you noticed and really love, with any/all of this helping you appreciate the movie more? just anything, really, your choice on whatever you wanna ramble :3 (also to make up for how my last question had stopped you from rambling AHAHAH)

I could rant forever about all the details in this movie honestly!!!

The foreshadowing is SO good in this movie!! waiting on a miracle and the family madrigal being obvious ones but did you guys know the order mirabel sees the doors flicker when she sees the cracks is the order they lose their powers in? Isa + Luisa first because that’s who’s powers act up first dolores + camilo + antonio at the dinner scene and alma last because she was the last one willing to admit the problems!!

I love the character design!! I’ve rambled about it many times but it’s just !!!

I love how despite mirabel being our protagonist they show when she’s wrong and other characters call her out! She’s not a perfect protagonist she’s a flawed teenage girl and that just makes her more endearing

I love that they didn’t make Mariano a mean character just because isabela didn’t want to marry him. The problem isn’t Mariano it’s isabela feeling trapped!! Mariano is also shown to be considerate!

I love that most of the focus is on the female characters (if only the fandom would do that) I love seeing a multigenerational cast of women all flashed out with their own unique traits

about the misinterpretations i completely agree. I feel like this fandom has a “fanon” problem. especially with the most developed characters! surprisingly the ones with the most screen are the most common mischaracterised. I really dislike how encanto as a movie went to such an effort to give every character such a variety of traits and nuance only for the fandom to continuously reduce them down to one singular trait. It almost feels like reinforcing those stereotypes the movie was so set on breaking. As well as this continuously ignoring some of the best canon traits each character has. They feel so far from the original you might as well consider them ocs at that point.

I love the animation on Bruno’s vision shards (they look edible), I love the little details in mirabels room like her outfit sketches being hung up on the walls! THE BUTTERFLIES!! this movie has so many hidden butterflies it’s so fun to spot them!!

the soundtrack obviously but also the score!! only recently discovered that “the house knows” is a reprise of “the cracks emerge” it blew my mind!!!

One thing I really love about encanto is the expressions! they can convey so much with so little and the little subtleties it adds to each character is just incredible to me!!

SKIRT ANIMATION. it’s like hypnotizing to see how the skirts flow in this movie I am glued to the screen every time.

the dos oruguitas scene is gorgeous and so incredibly important to the core message of this story! As well as this scene the fall of casita is another incredible one!!

the songs feel like full blown fantasy musical numbers and I don’t know why people consider that a criticism of the movie is about MAGIC I want to feel that magic in the visuals of the song. So each musical number was like the most incredible experience!!

I love how waiting on a miracle starts off as a reprise of the family madrigal before changing to 3/4 time to show how mirabels out of place

the line “how far do these roots go down” hits so hard and I cant explain why

Felix and pepas love is so real and pure

julieta and agustín are incredible parents

the fact luisa wasn’t reduced to a stereotype and was allowed to be flawed

mirabels voice!! it’s so unique and recognizable like I love it sm

I love that with isas transformation it’s not her hating femininity but changing what her femininity means to her

I love how mirabels worst enemy is her own mind. the madrigals aren’t aware of how she feels because she never opens up and it’s just slowly eating her up inside. in the end mirabel needed to acknowledge herself in order to grow (I say acknowledge because I refuse to believe it’s acceptance and I think she would still struggle with her self perception post movie)

I love how the Madrigals use their gifts to help their community and not for self gain. It’s such an interesting twist on the classic superpowers story

I love that the Madrigals are just normal people who randomly got a miracle, nothing of status just normal people in a normal town who got gifted.

5 Signs You're experiencing Deja Vu (Number 3 Will Make You Question Reality!)

Strix and Dema talk reluctant heroes, DA4 (spoilers ahead!) and ALL the worldstates

Dema: To jump right in, on your user intro you mentioned OC creation first in your list of things you love about Dragon Age. What about DA OC creation in particular appeals to you?

Strix: I love the choice of it all. I get the opportunity to craft rich, multi-faceted characters within a deeply immersive world that I love and see everyone else's amazing creations too. I have endless possibilities for creative expression and storytelling and ways to explore personalities, choices and experiences that I don't have personal experience in, and on the flip side I get to explore characteristics that I have in so many different ways. I also love learning about how others approach the same thing and there is always so much diversity in how it is approached.

Dema: Do you create your OCs with writing in mind?

Strix: Not necessarily. I have several that were created with writing in mind, but the majority were created with the idea of exploring the world of dragon age from a particular lens and what that would mean for how they would interact with the world.

Dema: What has been the most interesting character configuration for you, in game? 

Strix: I find it really hard to pick just one. However, I will say I really love any non mage Hawke. They're just a regular guy and because of the tensions between the mages and templars and between their friends, they're always kind of stuck in the middle. I find it's an interesting dynamic because in the end they always have to take a stance, regardless of personal feelings, investment in the mage or templar cause, or the risk to themselves. 

Dema: Do you have a favorite Hawke you've made? (Cruel question, I know haha)

Strix: Hahaha, it really is lol. But I would have to say my canon Hawke. Aeryn Hawke is a dual wielding rogue and purple Hawke. She just wanted to live an uneventful and simple life, but fate had other ideas.

Dema: I LOVE a reluctant hero.

Strix: She's become a bit of a tragic figure as the DA timeline and story has progressed and I'm honestly terrified of Varric dying in da4 because that would honestly be the thing that breaks her. She can't and hasn't saved the world, all she's done is hold back the tide a little bit.

Dema: OOF, yeah! So I assume you're keeping up with the DA4 news to some extent?

Strix: Absolutely! I'm obsessively following all the updates. I have no care for spoilers. 

Dema: What are you most excited about?

Strix: Meeting all the new companions. I have loved all the past companions and I'm so excited to meet all my new friends and LIs. Through a chance to punch Solas is a close second.

Dema: Are you already planning your Rook, or are you waiting?

Strix: I've got plans for at least five already, lol. I have 13 completed world states and uhhhh an addiction to OC creation.

Dema: Hey. You are so valid. Who knows how long we'll have this game before the next one comes out, if we've got a decade surely five play-throughs is reasonable.

Strix: I'm so scared I'm going to create more than 13 Rooks and then I'll have to create wardens, Hawke's and Inquisitors to match them. The backgrounds sound so intriguing.

Dema: To pivot a bit, because I would love to ask a couple writing questions:

Dema: Pitch is in? How are you feeling about your DABB project?

Strix: My pitch will be in tomorrow, I've been working on it today (blurbs/summaries kill me lol) But I'm super excited about DABB! I can't wait to read all the fics and see all the paired art, it is such a fun concept. I'm also super excited to finally be writing my fic, because it's a fic I've wanted to write for ages now, and the way the DABB has been structured has really helped me kick my ass into gear to tackle the project. I love fandom events and gift exchanges because of the commitment component. You've signed up, you have a deadline and you have to think about how and if you can deliver the project, which means it isn't as self indulgent as regular fic writing is (for me anyway).

Dema: Ooooh so is this your first Big Bang?

Strix: Yes!

2. What’s your total Ao3 word count? 289,964

3. What fandoms do you write for? Whatever catches my fancy. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has the most fics (8), but my most recent fic was for Black Widow.

4. What are your top five fics by kudos?

Family First- a Coco fic, the first multichap I ever finished, I think. An AU where Victoria stole the guitar when she was a child and she and Elena got stuck in the Land of the Dead.

Sick of Waiting for a Miracle- angsty Encanto! My take of Mirabel growing resentful instead of desperate, and the family falling apart a lot harder. Happy ending though because I am who I am.

Patching Up- post-Incredibles 2 fic of Bob and Helen patching each other up (hence the name). Short fluff I am astonished was my third most kudos-ed fic.

From the Hands of the Weak- Black Widow AU where Alexei and Melina take Natasha and Yelena and run.

Tia Victoria one-shots- Listen. My Coco phase was strong. And I did not have standards yet, so I posted whatever came into my mind. Most of these are about her tragic death. Unfinished, or it would have made "angstiest"

5. Do you respond to comments? Yes! I love responding to comments, especially to follow up on whatever the commenter found interesting.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? I had to go back through my AO3 because no matter how much I put my little guys through, I usually like a happy ending. Technically it would be 5 Times Una Talked Chris Into a Breakup and 1 Time She Didn't. But that's part of a series that had a happy ending, so. I am redeemed.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? I'll go with The World That Lives In You. I always write with a happy ending in mind, even if I don't finish it, but I picked this one because it ends with a domestic little scene of a traumatized family being cute and well-adjusted together.

8. Do you get hate on fics? Not that I have seen.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Nope.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? I have, not a lot though. I have a little series where I put the Incredibles in the Harry Potter universe. The Incredibles were Aurors and you can't change my mind was a fun time when I was very into Incredibles 2.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Once, allegedly by accident.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated? I don't think so.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? No, aside from spitballing ideas with @justreckin.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? When I first started writing and posting fic, I had an enormous DS9 fic all planned out. It was going to span 20+ years, introduce so many OCs, and center around Kira Nerys, my OBSESSION for a long time. I posted maybe 4 chapters. RIP.

16. What are your writing strengths? Dialogue and cute little moments.

17. What are your writing weaknesses? I get bogged down in details and lose sight of the long game. OR if my intention is to make a little moment stretch, it lasts two sentences. There is no in between.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I will do one or two words at a time, maybe a sentence if I can pull it directly from the source material and I know what it means and the context.

19. First fandom you wrote for? NCIS.

20. Favorite fic you’ve written? oof oof oof. Great question. I have plenty that I go back and read just for fun. The one I'm proudest of right now is Discipline, Diligence, and Learning to Fly. My favorites to read are And the Time Eve Collected Human Beings Like Shiny Rocks and Keep Us Connected.

(And you can laugh at me or with me on this, but I may not be the best at giving opinions, 😖 I think. Just know I'm typing this with my miniscule overthinkin’ brain and hurt wrist.)

Feb 4: Don’t be afraid to post your AU and talk about it, beautiful or not, unique or not, complicated or not, similar or not, cringe or not, demented or not, eh or not. 

Share your mind, you’ll find people who share it with you. And if you get hate, show them San’s ass or something. It tells others how nonexistent they are to you. (though I’ve seen someone draw Sans very beautifully thicc, we will keep in mind he is bones, which we indeed simp for).

Feb 12: Your Introduction of your own Underfell AU called SacredFell

I am interested. I am in fact one of many who are and will be interested for days to come, for as long as you build and love your AU, as it becomes whatever completion you dreamt of it to be, so on and so forth, even if one day you stop.

I’m finna be there bruh, late or on time.  

And imma let you know that right now as you reading this. You actually asked me first about your AU and lemme tell you, you beat me to it. I actually have fanart for you. AND was gonna find a time to ask you first.

(~(>_<。)＼ Usually I'm ready to send art cause I plan before hand, but someone used a wrist twist move on me for fun recently. ಥ_ಥ)

Anyway, moving forward.

Frisk and Chara of SacredFell: I enjoy teh designs. And me personally, I like Frisks design, the fact Frisk went through multiple design phases is nice to know. Would you ever show Frisk's previous designs?

Oof, you changed SacredFell Sans height from 5’2 to 6ft, damn what a stretch. And he part of the Royal Guard, whoa! 😆hotsome big skeleman.

Also, I love the art style of @/melikitinas, too. 💖

Feb 14: … ScaredFell Papyrus…. I-... 11ft height, yeah, we gonna need a height chart. I short, so they a fucking tree at this point, imagine Paps just bending at the waist towards a shorty like me, he’s gotta be prone on the ground or something. AND his fine ass a 2nd in Command Royal Guard, too. ○( ＾皿＾)っ AWWHEHESJDHWU ✨

Feb 21: LORE Ah, so the beginning is different, interesting. *reads through it with glasses* (I was recently working on my other OCs at the time as well :D.) 

Yukki sounds like a good character! And portaled? Oooooh, portaled, I wanna know backstory! 

Did Yukki not go through the ruins? She just collapsed in Snowdin? Was she unconscious the entire time she was taken to Asgore, up until Toriel saved her?

And usually humans, are strong, is Yukki weak due to something? (you don’t have to reveal too much lore unless you wanna) How much power does Yukki have? Why does it drain so quickly? 

Also, love Toriel, to save one instead of all, what a mother. Even if Yukki wasn’t her own, that was such a big sacrifice for the price of saving one child over freedom. I would love to see how you draw that part out.

And Toriel left Yukki behind the waterfalls, why not take Yukki with her? 

Why out of all the souls, Kindness was taken, would this serve as a significant plot point in the AU?

Would Yukki grow to harbor bad intent or negative emotions towards the monster or would she end up sacrificing herself after understanding the monster’s want for freedom, would she find another way, would she resort to genocide at some point(despite her being weak)? 

Would Toriel come in clutch next time Yukki is in grave danger? 

And what plans would Asgore have after he gets Toriel, I would’ve expected that he wanted Toriel dead, not with a bounty on her head to be returned ALIVE to his home. I'm probably just thinking to the extremes. 😂

I like this plot. I’d love to know how Frisk and Yukki will come together. And if within the one or two years, Yukki stayed with Sans and Papyrus, would the brothers falter when they need to get their jobs done for Asgore when the time comes? Would Sans and Papyrus eventually come to value Yukki as their own friend? Does Yukki know Sans and Papyrus are working to gain her trust to betray her in the end? 

Also is Toriel and Sans doing the knock knock joke through the gate in this AU too? What’s Toriel’s relationship with the characters so far? Within the time Yukki was living in the Underground, does she come to meet Toriel again?

Feb 23: YUKKI I agree Yukki is a main focal point in the beginning of this AU, I really like this. I can’t wait to see how you build this lore up. Would Toriel act again when Frisk comes? Would Toriel talk to Frisk about Yukki? How old is Yukki again? To me, Yukki looks like she has a strong presence, tongue sticking out, seems playful. ✨

Feb 27: Comic Heh. Middle school art is always nostalgic to look back on. I wish I still had some of mine. I threw most out due to the fact, I didn’t want physical evidence of my cringe art tying back to me, but looking back on it now. I was stupid and paranoid. 

Now cringe art is one of my favorite art pieces to discover, it brings a certain emotion outta you, am I right? Yeaahh.  

Anyway, I admire you for sharing your old art and comic. 

An AU, especially when a creator is lovingly dedicated to it, can become hectic and mentally crowded and out of order, or as you say “all over the place.” Good luck on that journey, creating comlex stories is hard! I was overwhelmed by my own ideas and burned out at some point and stopped entirely. You make me wanna go back to my little world.

And Yukki and SacredFell Sans look like they get along noicely. yukki hand on her hip, confidence and power ✨👌 makin' Sansy sweat.

Mar 7: Yay Toriel Character Sheet Me like tall woman. She taller than Sans, haha. I gotta learn how to draw a goat at some point. And she looks good in my opinion. Do SOUL Protectors gain power from the souls? Wouldn't they accidentally at some point absorb the soul? Has any of the protectors even thought of doing that? Doesn't the barrier need one monster soul and one human soul to break the barrier, or is that different in this AU?

Mar 11: Another comic redraw, SacredFell Asgore WIP

Aw SacredFell Sans and Yukki smiling together, your old drawing of them is cute. ANd that’s a jump, good to know they're out of the underground. Hope you eventually find the right design for Yukki, that you’re gonna be satisfied with. I’m excited to find out how they got out of the underground, too.

The concept is really good! (The fact Asgore would entrust the souls to another and make them SOUL Protectors, and you still fight Alphys even in the pacifist route, and I sense "things" though not sure what, but it makes me look forward to your lore.) *ChecK* 

It’s a Fell type Universe. (I love Underfell) *CHECK* 

The art is noice!!!! *CHecK* 

I find interest in how characters will interact or encounter each other. *Check* 

I can see the work put into this AU! I see their dedication based from the dates you posted things about your AU. I really look forward to seeing how you continue to develop and make art for your SacredFell AU! With what you’ve shown at this time, I can happily tell you, for me this AU is interesting, there’s potential in many areas, character development, choice of dialogue, different relationship dynamics, personality, world building, plot changes, etc.

It started with my old Shouto-blog @.a-frozcnflame and it kinda stuck across my other blogs. I had "frozcnreality" for Sehun and "frozcneyes" for Yejun - both are Miran's brothers and went on with @.frozcnhearts for my multimuse. So I that's really the only reason why I decided to keep the "frozcn" in Miran's. Taru is the only blog that breaks my tradition with @.burncdheart. The second name is light and I guess it might be clear where this comes from. "Light" is a metaphor I often use for Miran, because that's what I had in mind for her. I wanted to created an OC who is full of light, hope and brightness. When I created her, I thought she'd surely have a lot of sane friends. Jokes on me, all of her ships and most of her friends are with criminals :) 𝐅𝐔𝐍 𝐅𝐀𝐂𝐓: Whenever I listen to music or reply, I have a whole movie unfolding in my mind. I see everything, I can imagine the scent, the feeling, the surroundings, everything is so clear to me. Another anon ask! Tysm, I genuinely smile so much while answering these! I love knowing people are invested with my OC and fanfic.

1. Yes, Rayne does have a power! She is referrred throughout the story as the 'Master of Magic' and 'Master of Sorcery'. Without saying too much, this power may or may not be elemental.

2. She discovered her powers when she was around the ages of 6-8, I believe. What I wrote down was the shattered a lightbulb at some point, and then it's all downhill from there!

3. I think I mentioned how Lloyd has a hard time training with and using Rayne’s power, and that does get explained later on! Just… over 100k words later. I have nothing to say for myself. As for the FSM... that's spoiler territory, my friend.

4. Yes, she did! I always wanted her to be able to spend time with him despite the two siblings being separated for most of their childhood.

5. Oof. What I will say she is very powerful. I would say (as a tier-list thing) at least tied with Lloyd, if not more powerful. And yes, you get to see why.

6. Since we never really see Wu’s elemental power, I don’t really have anything to compare to there, but Garmadon… Rayne is her fathers daughter. Remember the daggers Garmadon can make with his power? Yeah, she figures out how to do that. (Her exact powers are a bit of a spoiler, so if anyone wants a more in depth explanation in terms of the FSM, please tell me! It will spoil a pretty big chunk of the story though.)

7. Her powers are absolutely insane in themselves, but I think what makes Rayne so powerful is her ability to fight dirty, keep going and her drive. I would say (?) she is more powerful than Lloyd, but the FSM? He created the realm and many others. I’d say she would hold her own in a fight.

8. Although she did originally try to attack the Ninja, they bonded pretty quick. Zane’s immediate internal reaction was “Oh a funky lost child. Adopted.” Jay was terrified, Kai was sceptical but kinda adopted her as his little sister, and Cole was like yippee! They’re all a big dysfunctional found family and I love that for them.

9. I think the episode-wise time was the at the beginning of Can of Worms. (1.05) She had tracked them down after the Lloyd’s Treehouse incident. She thought they were holding him hostage or something.

10. She absolutely loves them. She would 100% do anything for them, and that is proven many times throughout the story. As I've said, one big found family <3 They've been through the highs and lows together, and they all love each other immensely.

Oof, I don't like angsty endings so I can't say that I have any. In the past, I wrote a oneshot with one of my OC's in Horrortale though. That was...angsty. It's also really bad compared to what I write now lol. I don't think I'll ever post it.

At the moment, Have Some Empathy, Dear is the only complete fic. So that one.

No, at least I haven't yet. I did get one comment ages ago where someone was annoyed that Korinna (MC from The Hand We've Been Dealt) just went to live with the Fell brothers after they killed her when she was a human. She didn't know that it was them though, so the comment didn't make sense? Admittedly, the plot for that fic is a bit weak...

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Nah, I've been tempted to, but I'm not comfortable making that sort of thing. I allow minors to follow me anyways, so if I did, that would have to change.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

AU's don't count as a crossover I suppose. So, no, I don't write crossovers.

I'm more of a self-shipper and pretty much always have been OC x Canon as well. I do like Soriel. The way some people write their dynamic is adorable and even if they aren't in a relationship, I love seeing their friendship. I don't really ship anything else though.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Pretty much everything with my old Undertale OC's and my old Star Wars OC. My reasons are that I've changed my interests and created better characters now. I'm not entirely opposed to ever posting these online but the state that they're in at the moment makes me cringe.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Definitely describing environments and worldbuilding. I have a strong imagination and so whenever I write a scene I try to put myself in the character's position and describe what they see. Worldbuilding is also enjoyable since it gets my brain working.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Dialogue. I struggle to make characters sound natural at times and my earlier writing suffers lot from stiff dialogue.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I love this! I don't really know any other languages myself so my own attempts are limited, however I love seeing it in other people's works. I do like to include ASL where I can since it's a language I have some familiarity with.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Star Wars actually. I had a Jedi turned Sith character in a years long message board roleplay and multiple times I attempted to write down a backstory for her but I never finished. After being convinced to join the Sith, she was an Inquisitor for a bit before being promoted to Sith Lady and training a few apprentices. She briefly became Sith Empress but stepped down when the war with a faction of Mandalorians turned ugly. She hasn't been seen or heard from since... Yeah, no, I just lost interest in the character and SW in general with Disney's takeover.

20. Favourite fic you’ve written?

I love pretty much all of them! I think my favourite is Have Some Empathy, Dear but I do wish I had more time to flesh parts of it out at the time. Otherwise, it's The Nightmare of Apathy.

Haurchefant x WoL - Oof the tragedy of this ship is sometimes too good to resist! Of course Aymeric is my #1 elf, but Haurchefant is a close second for me. I have never shipped any OCs with him but I am thinking that if I want to replace Yume with a new OC as Hali’s fellow WoL, then I might. But I then would have to tackle the whole… you know. And that hurts, a lot. Anyone who still ships with Haurchefant is strong and I love you all.

Riol x WoL - A rarepair that I adore but I just haven’t gotten any OC to stick with him. I think Riol is highly underrated and I would highly consider shipping a new OC with him. He needs way more love dang it! Everytime I do find this ship out in the wild I squeal with delight.

Leofard x WoL - Okay, I’ll admit it: I have a thing for Leofard, but he doesn’t seem like the long term relationship type. Well, it wouldn’t work with someone like Hali okay? But another OC whose not so bogged down in wanting the fairy tale romance, wedding bells, and kiddos running around, it might work. I also adore this rarepair when I actually run across it.

21. Any rivals for the ship?

Ohhhhh that’s a great question! Hmm…

To be honest, there isn’t any “true” rivals for either Hali or Aymeric’s hearts by the time they fall in love with each other. But Aymeric absolutely has many admirers because ::waves hands:: just look at him! I have been playing with the idea that someone asks Hali out but she turns them down while crying because she just can’t get over Aymeric even though at the time she thinks that he doesn’t love her back. I’m thinking Pipin. Yeah, that’s about it.

Hi! Old age/aging headcanon for your babies?

I think by the time Wen is old, she has a plethora of tattoos from Zev. They add one for every significant event, and by the time she's old Wen doesn't have many large sections of uninked skin left. Also, I like to imagine she looks like a stiff wind would blow her away, but can still beat the shit out of someone who thinks she is frail. Just---unexpectedly spry for an old woman. Also, she still has like a billion pets.

Maria marks each sign of aging with delight. Once her hair is finally all silver and white, she proudly tells Fenris they finally match and he laughs (as she intended, of course). I think the role of grand dame would suit her well, and of course they have truckloads of grandkids whom she entertains with light shows. She would be very stately, I think, and shock people by looking very serene and then cracking an improbably crude joke.

Elowen becomes a bit of a hermit in her old age. I think she stops needing to uphold other people's expectations and starts creating a space for herself that she loves. Just---fucks off into the wilderness with one of those funky houses you find on accident while wandering the map. There is a cozy corner with her drawings and letters all set how she likes them, trunks of odds and ends she's picked up along the way, and a secret bookcase that leads to her bedroom and its massive bed.

Emmaera...oof. In the canon universe, I think she spends increasing amounts of time on her research and builds a network of Firsts and Keepers to share information even during years when there is no Arlathven. Research held in each "cell" of a clan can mean that history is lost permanently if the clan dies (she came painfully close to seeing it happen to her own clan, of course) so I think she tries to find a way to share that information among clans and create a standing record outside of them. The older she gets, the more important this becomes to her, I think.

(I wrote a whole thing about Wander Emma and it made me so sad that I deleted it, so...we're just going to leave it at that)

Salshira in old age finally lets some of her walls down. It becomes less and less appealing to reshape herself to entertain and push away others, and eventually she just stops. She is still charming and funny, I think, because that's a part of who she is, but it becomes less of a shield and more of a way to build connections. I like the idea of her life not holding some grand purpose or great project, but just...getting to be at peace in having a home and family that belong wholly to her. She's always been one of the most at ease in her own body of all my OCs and I like to think that continues as she grows older. Just...delight at knowing she hasn't seen everything she'll become yet.

OC introduction: Heaven (Twisted Wonderland)

Basics

Heaven (she/her) is a Ramshackle student mainly based off of the bride from the Haunted Mansion, and minorly based off of the Mayor from Nightmare Before Christmas. She is… some kind of ghost, many assume, though she’s always been that way, rather than having died. Her age is, for the most part, unknown.

While usually floating, Heaven when standing on the ground is … I’d say 5’8. She’s thin, perhaps a little too much-so, and very… uncanny. She almost never blinks, and primarily eats using the mouth on top of her head, rather than the one on her face. She also only has three clawed fingers on each hand, not including her thumb.

Rarely is Heaven actually seen in any classes, and when asked about her, professors don’t typically seem to recognize the name as one of the students. However, she claims to be very good at history and ancient curses. She does not enjoy flight class because there’s “too much sunlight.”

Hobbies, Talents, Preferences

Few people even see Heaven, much less know what she does with her free time. For the most part, Heaven remains invisible, with the only sign of her presence being an odd feeling that you’re being watched or that something terrible is going to happen.

Despite this, it’s been made very clear that Heaven strongly dislikes men. She’s incredibly distrustful and will be openly aggressive and even violent towards masc presenting people who she deems some level of threat. Of course this isn’t like, all men she encounters, she’s just kind of iffy and guarded for the most part… but if you fail the vibe check? Oof good luck.

Total girls girl tho. One of the other girls murders someone? Heaven will hide the body no questions asked.

The one thing most students have come to agree on about Heaven, is that she enjoys using her range of weird ass abilities to freak people out, including but not limited to: the mouth on her head which has a sharp black tongue in it, her unpleasant aura, the fact that she knows information she realistically should not be able to know, her ability to seemingly predict the future, random teleportation… there’s more but those are the big ones.

She is. very ominous.

Backstory

Heaven is a princess, one of a now destroyed kingdom that exists somewhere in the spirit realm. From a young age, Heaven kept telling her parents that bad things would happen, to which her parents would assume she was doing kid things and making it up… only for the exact events to later happen. Because of this, word spread and the kingdom began to believe Heaven was a bad omen, bringing disaster wherever she went, and her parents locked her away in the palace Elsa From Frozen Style.

She grew bitter and upset that no one listened to her, and only assumed the worst from her because she was young. As a result, the day she learned her unique magic was the day the entire kingdom fell, being destroyed in a massive tornado no one could have predicted—no one but the one who’s overblot caused it.

Heaven was exiled from the ruins of the kingdom, while her parents and the survivors of the disaster sought refuge in a neighboring kingdom. From there, Heaven traveled on her own for a while, before deciding that the Ramshackle dorm in the living world would be a good place for her to stay… where no one knew who she was or what she had done.

Oh also she was supposed to marry a prince from another kingdom but she hated that idea. Then she fell in love with my buddy Howl’s oc Prince Jude an oops guess what, that was the prince she was supposed to marry so now they’re happy together yaaay

An extremely powerful UM that will almost always result in extreme damage to the user. It festers a natural disaster, mimicking the extent of the user’s negative emotion.

This usually manifests as a tornado for Heaven, and given the nature of the spell, will send her into an overblot if used incorrectly.

Heaven hates this mf. She bites her tongue because the prefect (in this version, Comet in specific), is friends with him. He sometimes feels her stares from seemingly nowhere.

despite telling multiple people about this project, i still haven’t condensed the plot into a cohesive paragraph so here’s a very very basic summary:

Lavender shouldn’t have had to become queen at seventeen. unfortunately, with the untimely death of her sister and brother in law (the queen and king), she must step up to the throne as soon as possible to protect her kingdom from the threat of war with a hostile neighboring kingdom. there’s just one more problem, though- the law states very clearly that a queen cannot rule without a king (aka a husband) at her side. the young man the priest picked out is perfect for her in every way but one. can Lavender put aside her prejudice and work with him to protect the kingdom?

i feel like that was better organized than any previous attempt to summarize it but it’s still not perfect unfortunately.

anyway, i have a decent amount of development done for each of these characters so i feel adequately prepared to say that the ask box is open to questions about them and ideas for little scenarios (that may or may not end up in the novel itself at some point or another)!

Even with that in mind, it still comes back wolves, rabbits and raccoon. Heck, there's even a philosophical thinking quote: "A fox knows many things, but a hedgehog knows one big thing". Looking into it, it actually fits Sonic and Tails' dynamic quite well; how they go about things. (Hmm, maybe a species that's also pretty well known for either getting done in by their own kind or rocked by their immediate family instead? Meerkats in particular are apparently the worst when it comes this. Hyenas too, mainly the males. Some species of primates are bad with this as well; I don't think I need to explain how vicious chimpanzees can get.)

Another thing about foxes is that they can apparently memorize schedules so they know when it's best to go get food or avoid potential conflict with others. (Which actually puts another sad spin on the bullying thing; as I could picture Tails doing this. The latter part mostly.)

And when those desires start meshing in with increasingly selfish behavior, she sadly starts becoming similar to him in a way. Eggman has a certain image he wants for the 'perfect' world [for him], Sage has a certain image when to having the 'perfect' family [for her]. *cough cough* Complete unity might never be achieved, not even in their final time together.

It's true. It's wild how that one fits Sonic and Tails's personalities, too. (Actually there's a fable with a similar idea that uses a cat instead of a hedgehog which is why I made my oc a cat (the same one who's also magic) I need to go back to working on him.)

Oof, yeah, I can believe it :( Foxes are generally pretty smart so no wonder they have such strong associations with trickster archetypes in a lot of different cultures

Yeaaahh. Yeeesh. It's just sad to think about Sage potentially becoming a bad person under Eggman's influence since she started out pretty... blank slate and just has human (ironically) needs and not anything evil. Buuut it's also something that makes her interesting to me. It's like a tragedy that isn't a part of some tragic backstory, we're watching it unfold in real time. And there's also a little bit of hope, that maybe something happens that won't let it go down in the worst way possible, maybe someone helps her... but we also don't know that for sure. Intriguing!

Hey I hope you are well! I saw the fic ask game list you had shared and just wanted to submit an ask for K and L :)

Hey love! I'm doing better than yesterday, but still a little off - this is me trying to break out of a little funk, so thanks for asking!!

That first one, though... oof. mkay, so listen... I am a very damaged individual. Know that before you judge me, because this is about to get dark. (also, it's in-depth so is long)

K: *Big breath* Gonna start with trigger warnings: non-con, dream torture, forced preg termination, psychological torture.

oookie, so this is a super long fic that is actually where my Vacation fics originated. Gonne just highlight the gist - Fem reader is force sensitive and was taken by a sith dude to be used to try to make her father reveal the location of jedi holocrons. That failed, so he tried to make her his apprentice, which also eventually fails, so he he tortures her to try to break her will to fight him, at which point the non-con and forced preg termination occurs. She escapes and crashed onto Ord Mantel where she run into Omega, ends up saving her from some bounty hunters but is wounded even further in the process so ends up being taken off world with the guys (sans Crosshair who is briefly mentioned to have left the Empire but refused to rejoin his brothers after the events of season 1). She and Hunter slowly become a thing, and they run into Crosshair on opposite sides of a retrieval mission, but there's an ice cave in and Cross and the oc end up having a bonding moment before they're rescued, after which, she starts sending him regular messages occasionally with commentary from the others in some effort to include him in his brothers' lives once more. Jump forward several months: that sith captures her and uses force bs to give her dreams where cf99 (sans Cross because he wasn't actively with them when she was captured) tortured her so when she's eventually rescued, she's so traumatized that she can't be in the same room with them without having a panic attack. They'd call Crosshair for help getting her out, and she ends up clinging to him as she recovers, so much so, that when he leaves, she goes with him. There's this super heartbreaking reoccurring hope from Hunter that she'll come back, but, months later, she still can't get within several feet of him without having a panic attack and has to really push the idea that she's not coming back but that it's not his fault, and when, after about a year of traveling together, she and Crosshair become a thing, oooo there's so much angst and confusion. There's a relatively happy ending, but I kinda wrote it in broken chunks, so it's pretty much only half written and will likely never see the light of day, but that's my most angsty idea.

L: The real question is: how many tiny edits do I make after posting... Honestly, this varies significantly. Most chapters don't get revised so much as edited or maybe reworded here and there. I think there have only been one or two where I just didn't like how it was going and ripped my heart out by totally deleted a chunk to start over (that's a lie - I copy it onto a separate word document in case I change my mind). I still go back to old chapters and realize I wrote "spook" instead of "spoke" or, my favorite "fingered" instead of "figured"
