I went through my old blog and grabbed all the headcanons I thought were still relevant. They're queued for the next... however long. I didn't look. That's future Fate's business. They will post twice a day at 8am and 4pm ET. I'm going through my discord now, though, to find more headcanons to share. If you can think of any topics you wanna hear me ramble about for her, please send them my way. As an aside, please have this:

That is all.

Things I Like RP Partners to Know
Tumblr media
I like to be called: Captain, Kuro, Zach, Degenerate, w/e. I'm typically not nerved by really anything, mostly chill. (Went in-depth and tagged below cut)
One thing you should know about me: I really just write for passion anymore, I don't care about this whole Post+ stuff, it won't play a factor in me. Tumblr has really everything that allows me to write and further myself. However, it ever goes away, even if becomes Myspace 2.0, I'll probably still maintain writing here off and on in spurts. --Now if they shut-down, I might convert over somewhere that's identical, cause Twitter couldn't handle my girth. I'm mildly autistic and suffer from a few other conflicting health aliments, writing is my obsessiveness and remedy. Used to be gaming, but I became less of a gamer, and replaced it more for writing cause It's a place where I can contain and throw all my thought's to usage. My mind overlaps with so much thing's at once, I get side-tracked, misplacement, my concentration shifts horribly, before I know it, I haven't slept for twenty-four hours or more. Lot of stuff is just me being redundant by fault. Or I become overwhelmed with a story ideas, that impulsively takes me, but majority of my best thing's are sudden. Not the one's that are ever planned. But I don't live to make excuses never care to be defined, by one thing, or person. I don't aim to attain much of anything in life but be a better me, until my end. And by analyzing your mind, you can do or achieve a lot I've discovered. So I repetitively no matter what jog down my WIP's and unleash, or my errors, I put them all on badges displays, then I go back and repeat until I show progress. That's how I have to learn. But passion is a candle, so when it burn's out I lose a lot of what I learned, it's natural after that to be discouraged, but instead, for me, that gets me going again. Cause mean's I can come at thing's with a whole new mental perspective and different flow, then compare, and again, adapt and improve. One thing you should know about RPing with my character(s): Everything is a factor and story with me. Losses, they matter. My character originally was highly killable almost every session, but advanced due to the actions of others, because of them, he found the value of his own life, and that's how I like to do my characters. Even the win's my character gets from stories, will most likely have a 'bad ending' occasionally or result into something new sprouting from it eventually, however that doesn't define at-all how permanently it effects them. But seasonally they go through their struggle. Life for real, is up and down's, these are the component's I factor in. Realistically, sure we fall. We never truly decline unless we allow it. Our character's philosophies, their mental judgement, dislikes, etc, all these thing's become ingrained they decide how much they want too fight and live, they step to improve or sometimes stumble under roadblocks, but not truly devolve. So the more people he interacts with or meets and encounters in RP, they are factors, they're meaningful to meet again, or live, their short teachings are insightful. No matter how small or large or incomplete stories went or passed-by. I created a character who was filled in by others initially. Even one-shot smuts, they're important experiences. Lot more to appreciate when your character learns on their own how to surpass their weaknesses and suffering organically. Still do RP with others but typically I do collaborations, or pre-established or short things, or Discord, one-shot in-game stuff, screenshot things that can convey RP. Want to build this Crew as their own functioning characters, not so much minor throwaways, but shippable, and highly in-depth. Essentially building an optional anime for my partner's, one-day. Long-term with me right now just isn't something I'd ever ask or expect from me. I'm too jumbled and a mess. But it's not a never, I do have two people who are among all my stuff and involved. I'd include anyone in my stories too if they wanted partaken. First language: Gibberish / English. Age range: under 13  |  14–17 | 18–22 | 23–25 | 26–29 | 30+ | 40+ | 70+ Am I okay with NSFW?: yes |
no | some nsfw I came solely off that, my reputation, was known as 'That ERP guy' on Balmung OG day's, I'm one of the degen's from that era. But character's evolve and adapt as do their people, they become more, but maintain their origins to degree. Those perspective's and things learned from NSFW are very paramount to a lot of SFW too. My favorite/most common thing to RP is: angst | fluff | smut | crack | action | plots | AUs are fine | Violence | Darker themes |  I dunno. * I'm pretty open-ended in all things. It's all fascinating for me to attempt at improving. Reason finally pulled the trigger and made a diverse Crew for Captain was give off different interactions and also more reason's to write beyond my usual trends. I'll tackle eventually every genre... now doesn't mean I'll excel in those fields more than my specialties, but I'll do it. Canon Character RP Friendly?: yes | no | depends * I stick with the sandbox but I'll stretch out all the space and limits of it. Building skyscrapers and UFO's with that sand, just happens that this Universe has magic, science, alchemy, holograms, all-around unlimited absurd possibilities, more than even D&D, which makes this game the best to RP within. When comes to interacting with anything Canon base, It'll always dwarf me though. Most likely I'll write my own legit WoL's, thinking of making an 'antagonist' one, but more 'protagonist too' (maybe hunk viera male?) I like making construed lines between characters, that's really complex, it's avidly up to a reader to decide who's in the right or wrong or if they're rooting for the villain or good-guy. I see most lore characters as Celebrities which my character would be rightfully cultured in, and they're untouchable, least for my characters. To me the source of what, who, or with you're writing is what determines a lot. But yeah RPing with anything Canon related, I switch to being a just minor gnat. And there's going to be a lot of consequences, that come if there's anything that does effect something that matters in the Universe. Just cause my pirate is causing havoc and having fun for now, doesn't mean law's don't catch-up or something else doesn't. Cause and effect always. RP blog: does contain ooc posts | doesn’t contain ooc posts | occasionally contains ooc* I would do more OOC if did asks, or inbox related things and was wanted, but outside occasional updates, I stick to my role. That's just write stories and screenshots and practice everything. I'm thankful for anyone who does enjoy anything I share or supports me, It's what brings me back faster and I do always think of you too when I want to get better, it's uplifting and inspiring, alongside boosting. If I do bring any motivation to anything, I do. Then that's the best payment I could get. I like seeing others thrive, or soar higher than me, and unleash their creativity. Delena Fic Rec:
This is the hardest thing I’ve ever posted here lol.
Forever Mine: The night Damon Salvatore met Elena Gilbert changed the course of their destinies forever. But just as the future made itself known, the past caught up with them to destroy it all. Together on the run, Damon finds himself falling for this girl. Hard. But, Damon Salvatore doesn't love and he won't let her change that. No matter how much his soul...his body begs him to give in.
A Woman’s Worth:  AH/AU–Love hurts. This story takes on a literal meaning when Elena is a victim of abuse by her boyfriend. A journey of the silent sufferings of a girl with no one to turn to and unwilling to ask for help. Enters Damon, a social worker determined to rescue a damsel in distress and falling for her along the way. What is he willing to sacrifice in the end to save a girl he loves?
Tomorrow:  Will you be there beside me if the world falls apart? And will all of our moments remain in your heart? Will you be there to guide me all the way through? I wonder will you walk by my side and follow my dreams? With the Nazi reign of terror at its zenith, Damon and Elena form an unlikely friendship in WW2 era Czechoslovakia.
Where the Fireflies Dance: Elena just wants to forget. She moved away for college, and is trying to make a life for herself, when her roommate invites her to her family's ranch for a summer that could change Elena's life. Damon Salvatore is a flirt. But the only girl he's ever really loved is the daughter he's fighting for custody of. Then his sister brings home a friend for summer and everything changes.
Addictions:  When Elenas' life has been consumed by addictions, can anyone save her?- OOC,AU. *WARNING* Story contains strong language, substance abuse, graphic smut/lemons. For mature audiences only. Consider yourself warned.
Breaking Point: Elena wants to learn to fight compulsion. Damon's all-too willing to help, but will either of them be able to deal with the consequences?
Crying Lightening:  "I should have helped her. I should have done something. I deserve this. I deserve to die" - Damon is an 18 year old troubled lost soul with a bad reputation and Elena a 17 year old popular high school student who thought she had everything she ever wanted, that is until she got to know the eldest Salvatore and realizes that life is about more than being crowned Prom Queen! AU R&R
Casually Cruel:  AU/AH/ 'You're different, not the guy I used to know' -Maybe you never really knew me- 'Yes I did'. She knew the depths of his soul, loved and accepted every part of him. Now he's lost and he doesn't think she can find him and she's not sure she wants to.
Someone Like You: You fall in love, get married, fall in love again, get your heart broken. What if it got broken by a heart surgeon that never came back to fix it? Damon/ Elena - AU/AH
Echoes of the past:  Each of us has a past that shapes and defines us. Some pasts are filled with pain and heartache. Can Damon and Elena overcome their pasts to allow themselves a chance at happiness? Or will things from their past resurface to destroy their future? AU/AH Complete!
Forbidden Fruit:  Damon is friends with Grayson Gilbert. When he meets his daughter Elena, sparks fly. Considering the age difference and the fact that she is his friend's daughter, he tries to fight the pull every step of the way. Will he succeed in keeping her at bay?
Held Captive:  My favorite one shot I wrote last year, Re Published into a mini short story. Damon, a notorious War Lord captured the lovely, innocent Elena as part of his war games but things are not as simple as he'd thought. Set in medieval times.
I’d Kill Us Both:  AU/AH For years, Elena has been married to Stefan, but in love with his older brother, Damon, who left for the Marines shortly after the wedding. But now he's back, and not hiding his feelings. Will they finally have the chance to be together? And what if someone from Damon's military past followed him back home, putting them all in danger? Is love worth the risk?
Hopeless:  AU. AH. Elena has found that she likes her older sister Katherine's best friend Damon a lot more than she should. Little does she know he likes her more than he should too. Through the years things start to change between them, but if anyone found out they'd be in big trouble.
A Gentleman’s Agreement:  Possible S4 idea. VampElena has shut herself away from most of her friends, and the Salvatore brothers are at a loss over what to do. She is in for seduction and romance she never saw coming, but sooner or later a choice must be made. COMPLETED.
How Never Became Forever:  Elena's established rules and guidelines for her relationships. She knows how to stay emotionally detached and when to cut the cord. But then she meets Damon, who could potentially change everything. AU. AH.
Kiss Me, Break My Heart:  Elena Gilbert has been in love with her best friend Damon Salvatore for years, but when he asks her to help him win back the woman of his dreams, Elena decides she's had enough. Now Elena wants to move on, but Damon's not making it easy on her. AU/AH
Pretend You Love Me:  While their marriage is falling apart, Damon and Elena must learn to get past their demons or lose each other forever. AH/AU. Officially issuing an angst warning.
Auto In:  AU/AH /Life is wonderfully uncomplicated for Damon Salvatore. Take accident claims as a call center rep by day, charm his way into a new bed each night. Go to work, drink with friends, sex. Simple and straightforward and fun. Until a coworker, Elena Gilbert, makes him question whether some things are worth changing for. But is he the only one who needs to let go of a previous life?
Locked In a Loveless Marriage:  When Elena asks Damon Salvatore for a loan, he agrees on the condition that she marries him. What happens when she finds herself falling in love with a man who has told her he will never love her? AU. All human.
A Hymn For The Broken: AU Elena is a novelty. The only female werewolf to ever exist. She tries to stray away from the past, that turned her into a monster, but a string of grisly murders threaten, and she is called back home. Once reconnected with the Pack, and an old flame, Elena finds herself torn between two worlds. The normal life she'd made for herself, and the call of the wolf inside.
Physical Attraction, Chemical Reaction:  It all started with a night of hot sex. Where things could go from there to Elena and Damon? Could they fall for each other although they don't believe in love anymore? AU/AH
Never Break the Rules:  Handsome and tough, he had always done what needed to be done. He was supposed to be her knight in shining armour. He just never expected to be the one who needed to be saved… Ignoring swarming butterflies. Brushing off skipped heartbeats. Settling on lingering stares. Rules were never meant to be broken. What if there was a love that could break all the rules?
Love Lessons:  New to Mystic Falls High, Damon Salvatore is both excited and horrified to find he is falling in love with his student, Elena Gilbert. But what happens when they overstep the boundaries, and their friends and enemies discover their illicit secret?
Death is Just a Feeling:  "This life will be good and beautiful but not without heartbreak. In death comes peace, but pain is the cost of living. Like love, it's how we know we're alive." – Elena Gilbert ***HAPPY BIRTHDAY Short on words***
The End of Paralysis:  Enter Elena Gilbert, 24, hardworking, lovely, and insatiably in love with her long time best friend, Damon Salvatore. Can she make him see that they belong together? Delena. AH/AU.
Lucky 13:  AU/AH: Mistaken for a glamorous, selfish woman named Katherine Salvatore, the badly injured Elena finds that plastic surgery has given her Katherine's face, the famos Damon Salatore for a husband and a powerful dynasty for in-laws.
It’s A Boy Girl Thing:  Based off the movie with the same name, an ancient curse is awakened and cast upon Elena and Damon. The results cause them to switch bodies, waking the next day in the body of not only the opposite sex, but the last person they ever wanted to switch bodies with. A hilarious battle of the sexes ensues, but eventually they wonder if they'll ever get their own body back. ALL HUMAN D/E
Somebody I Used To Know:  Grieving the sudden death of their parents, Damon and Elena are forced to face their past choices and mistakes. Take a wild a journey through 20 years of their lives...together, apart and everything in between.
Sweet and Sexy Mistakes:  An expert on the dynamics between men and women, Damon Salvatore knows his uptight new publicist could use his help getting a date. The only problem is, the more time he spends with her, the more he realizes he doesn't want her dating anyone but him!
To Save A Sinner:  AU/AH: Damon Salvatore, the new star swimmer and transfer student at MFU, befriends the dark and mysterious Elena Gilbert, a girl the rest of Mystic Falls considers crazy. When he discovers the deep, haunting secrets she keeps from the world, can he handle the truth or will it cost him his heart and even possibly, his sanity?
Through The Ghost:  Damon, a carefree soldier & Elena, a no-nonsense physical therapist at an Army base met under ordinary circumstances. Stuck between attraction and resistance, they struggled to define their relationship until fate made the decision for them. 4 years later a heartbroken Elena battles to make good on a promise when she discovers nothing but the shell of the only man she's ever loved.
Maybe Less, Maybe a Little More:  Vampire Damon and Human Elena meet in a snowstorm. He wants to kill her and she is instantly attracted to him. What will happen over the next ten years? Fic for the A2A x-mas exchange. Non-canon, Oneshot, Delena endgame, rated M for sexual content and some gore. ENJOY THE DRAMA MYLOVES! :D
Do You Believe In Angels:  "Damon?" She asked. He looked at her, waiting. She took a shaky breath, "Do you believe in angels?" "No," he said, "Not anymore." . . AH/AU: Two children with tragic pasts meet at a refuge. Hurt and alone, they clinge to each other to survive. This is their story, and everyone involved along the way.
Alcohol:  Damon's drunk and she looks like Katherine. Elena's drunk and he smells like Stefan.
Memory Serves:  Elena accidentally asks for her soul mate. What happens when magic delivers 1864 Human Damon? How will the Vampire Salvatore brothers deal? Vampire Damon is tortured by intimate memories of Elena. He feels so close yet far away from her. AU1x14 - COMPLETE -
Desperate Love:  A whole different version of Season 4, without sire bonds or dead brothers. A meditation on the nature of love, free will and morality in an imperfect world, through: suspense, romance, steam, angst, and friendship. Tons of Delena as well as Stefan/Caroline/Klaus, Jeremy and Ric, too. Lemons!
The Valentine’s Day Corruption of Damon Salvatore:  This is my fic in response to the prompt by Ciara 2531 for the A2A Valentine Exchange on Live Journal. As always, it's rated M for a reason...
The Best Man: Damon and Elena meet at a wedding, which ends hotter than anyone would have thought.
Insanity Is Beautiful:  They called him crazy, insane even. People feared him and avoided him at any cost, even in the asylum. So what is Dr. Elena Gilbert supposed to do when she not only takes this insane monster as a patient, but falls in love with him, and him with her? (this one is only this low on the list because it’s incomplete)

dedicated, literate & long-term rps :)
Hello! I'm going to make this fairly short (or at least try to haaA). I am looking for 1-2 new rp partners! I work two jobs and have a pretty active lifestyle so please understand this is a hobby for me. My posting speed ranges from once every couple of days to once every week or so, but I'll always let you know when I'm busy or hitting roadblocks. I am almost always available ooc though, esp through discord. I am in my mid-twenties and prefer my partners to be 23+.
I love detailed plots and stories; crafting good posts is a huge part of why I love rping. I match/mirror my partner’s length and put a high amount of importance on compatibility as writers. Good grammar, punctuation, spelling is A Thing for me. I put 110% in. I write fully lit to novella style rps, usually 800-1300 words per reply. If you want a partner that’s invested in writing together and all the joy that brings, I’m your person!
I am looking for original period piece/historical drama roleplays full of drama and angst, fallout related roleplays, roleplays centered on fictional NHL players, and a few more.
what do I write?
I can write f/m and m/m pairings- doesn't really matter to me so long as the plot and characters are compelling. I love smut just as much as anyone but I need a good story and solid character development to go back on. I want to feel something when we write and I hope you do too! I don't have a ton of limits when it comes to kink etc aside from the basic ones, but generally each of the characters I write have varied and different interests and preferences. I'm interested in writing the following fandoms right now:
Transformers personified: Essentially, utilizing characters from the Transformers universe to make characters and stories based off of them/using them in a personified manner. We could depict the war as a political one, or with warring armies, or anything we wanted to do. I'm most familiar with Transformers Prime, and I would be really excited to talk this one over with you!
Disney personified: Similar to the idea above, we take stories/characters and springboard them into our own content and plots. Let's talk it out!
The Outer Worlds: Admittedly I haven't finished the game yet, but I would love to do some character and world building here. Canon characters could be brought in if needed.
Fallout: New Vegas: I can do OCs for this, or I can play several canon characters such as Arcade Gannon, The King, and Cass. Either way, I'd be more than happy to plot with you in this world. I'm also interested in playing out a story related to Fallout 4, where I can play Elder Maxson or Paladin Danse, or we can write OCs.
X-Men: Give me all the plots utilizing Jean Grey or Wolverine, those are my favorite canon characters to write. I can also write OCs. I would also love to play Wolverine against Jean Grey. All in all, I am a happy camper with this one.
The Crown/British Monarchy: I have a niche interest in the British monarchy and figures related to it, specifically George VI, Elizabeth II. I'd love to take the concepts and maybe the figures and write out some stories, historically-based or not, that involve some of the character types, situations and challenges faced. This idea is really flexible and I'd love to do some world-building here!
Mafia 2: I can write a pretty decent Vito Scaletta and I'd love to write him against your OC. We can take the premise and play with it, maybe make a spinoff or a sequel, something like that.
Right now I also have a huge interest in doing period pieces/setting slice-of-life stories in different historical settings. I'd really love to do some plotting together and come up with an intriguing original story. I would love to do stories with the backdrop of the first or second world war, the great depression, the turn of the century, etc etc. I think so many of my plot ideas would be much more interesting placed against different historical settings. I'm most familiar with 1900-1960s backdrops but I would love to explore earlier (little women, or pride and prejudice-esque) eras as well! Pleeease get @ me if you're interested in a healthy dose of history with whatever twists we can come up with :) Here are a few plots/prompts to get started:
**** (m/m) sugar daddy: My oc is a law student studying in your oc’s country in order to get their degree abroad. They’re from eastern Europe and uh. broke af. They settle into an arrangement with your oc where your oc agrees to ~pay him for his company~. We could take it anywhere- your oc could whisk mine off his feet and ‘save’ him or. Be toxic & trashy and make my oc’s life hell.
****(m/m) the guardian: Your oc is a newcomer to the NHL but is quickly making waves- think Connor McDavid style. He’s young and impressive, but mostly, impressionable. he starts to get battered around by both his teammates and opposing teams. After a few hard hits and fowl play within the game that have cost your oc bench and recovery time, the team’s coach calls in reinforcements to boost the team’s morale and serve as a protector to your oc. My oc is a player who hasn’t got the talent part but has got a huge heart. Not to mention… huge hands. Good for makin’ fists. Good for fightin’. My oc protects your oc during the games, coming to your oc’s aid, picking fights for your oc and protecting him on the ice. As such, the two players grow attached to one another.. perhaps too attached for the captain to be comfortable with. Possibilities for a love triangle and other complications, for sure
***(m/m) too good to be true: Our ocs start out in the WHL, both as promising wingers. Their good chemistry is vital to bringing back their team’s success. However, one of our ocs starts to get too attached to the other, and when an NHL draft separates them, one of our ocs is all too eager to cut contact and try to forget. The two excel in their NHL careers without one another, and end up on NHL teams with a history of deep rivalry. Occasionally, the gloves hit the ice, fueled by the tension of unresolved feelings and the pressure of the respective teams to keep up the rivalry. The two are reunited when they are both chosen to play nationally for the same team, and are forced to reconcile what they have both buried so deeply within them.
***(m/m) big money: These two ocs play for rival teams in the nhl. while their teams have a history of tension, our two ocs take it to the next level. Audiences are more excited to watch these two fight than they are to watch the game itself. There’s a market in the violence between these two, and a reputation to maintain on both ends. If the public found out that these two were secretly seeing one another, their careers would both be over.
My oc has serious commitment issues. They often go around leaving individuals after 4-5 dates, with little to no explanation of why. Your oc falls for mine, and is the first to confront my oc about their shitty habits.
Your oc is a huge fan of my oc’s hockey or political career. Your oc wins a contest to meet and have dinner with my oc. While my oc expects a boring night out, my oc is completely surprised by how well they hit it off with your oc.
My oc, your first oc and your second oc all grew up together. Your first oc has always been pining for my oc’s attention, and is thrilled when my oc and your first oc finally get together. They develop a long term relationship, but my oc knows it would devastate your first oc if they told them that they have been seeing your second oc for most of the relationship.
My oc and your oc are in an arranged marriage. My oc is actually a spy on your oc's national government. Espionage, reconnaissance, and betrayal abound.
My oc is royalty (think British monarchy) and yours is, absolutely not; either a reporter, a soldier, maybe a business person. My oc has taken interest in yours as a friend to keep them grounded... or as a thin veil for a romance that absolutely no one would approve of.
As for general OC ideas, here’s a list:
OC superheroes
street racing, fast-and-furious-esque setting
small town canadiana or americana
fun, fluffy romance based modern settings
light worldbuilding - new to this but wanting to learn
WWI / WWII history based
something based around the Titanic (I know, so cheesy)
alternate history — I would love to work on doing some worldbuilding with you and creating some kind of retro-futuristic alt history IE fallout before the nukes dropped.
honestly whatever you can pitch to me that isn’t high fantasy :)
I can expand on and work with any of these ideas, these are just topics. Whatever I do with you, I promise it’ll be fleshed out, with tons of opportunity for drama.
how do we get started?
Pleaaase send me an email at [email protected] or add me on discord at emmy/#5091 ! I will get back to you asap, but please give me some of your thoughts/an idea of why/what you’d like to write with me! I can write over discord or email or both. We can sort out the brass tacks there and figure out if we’re a good match. :) Thanks for your time and I hope I hear from you!

Villains, Powerful (but Unstable) Characters, and This Idiot.
I didn’t want to hijack this post with a long, “Agreed, but...” because I also find it incredibly annoying when other characters (usually OCs as well, which is a double pet peeve) use the fact that, OOC, nobody is going to godmod anyone, to be blatantly disrespectful or dismissive of canonically powerful or dangerous characters because the player knows the other player can’t do much about it.
The “but” is that this character lost the majority of his ability to even feel fear by his mid-20s due to the type of work he does.
Fear is a generally burnt out circuit for Calleo.
His entire career revolves around being able to handle nasty, complicated, dangerous, and potentially lethal magic which also involves having to be able to handle nasty, complicated, dangerous, and potentially lethal people and both things feed off of fear so he spent years redirecting that particular emotion into calm + respect the power of the thing you're dealing with.
He's not lying if he tells someone he's not afraid of them not so much out of disrespect as it is being honest and guessing, sometimes incorrectly, that the person in question would be more offended if he lied to their face when answering.
However, both honesty and disrespect (and some dangerous/powerful/villain types would view that type of honesty as a form of disrespect) can very easily get your ass kicked and I do let that happen pretty frequently.
He also won't just march up to someone or scoff at them with, "I'm not afraid of you," but if they ask he's likely to tell them that he's not and some other characters do try to put that fear into him.
It doesn't technically work but it does teach him both that the correct answer is yes if it gets asked again and that he can't get away with running his mouth to that person so he just alters how he reacts/acts toward that person to avoid having his ass kicked again.
He's also not stupid and can recognize when someone is dangerous, dangerously unstable, quick to anger/violence, or is someone with a reputation for that behavior and very, very quickly adjusts his attitude and behavior if that person shows up.
I'm gonna drag  @tmvoldemort , @absintheabsence   and , @punybutpretty  over here for this because the way Calleo interacts with each of those three people that he should probably definitely be afraid of is wildly different.
With @tmvoldemort  Calleo knew the reputation Voldemort had, he knew that even 15-17 years ago the man was unstable and prone to bouts of violence seemingly out of nowhere, especially if he thought he was being disregarded or treated with disrespect so when they accidentally ended up in the same room after the same thing at the same time, Calleo immediately switched into completely deferential and respectful, including taking a quick mental note of how Voldemort spoke about himself and making sure never to sound like he thought they were 'friends' or anything close to equals.
In that case, it involves never using words like "you" or his name when talking to him, it's always third person (my Lord, him, his, etc...) which occasionally makes him have to stop and think of how to word something so it makes sense or doesn't sound ridiculous but that's better than slipping up, saying "you", and tripping Voldemort's temper.
He's also careful never to sound like he thinks he's smarter, more clever, or just generally better than Voldemort because that would also be stupid; when he shares knowledge that he even remotely suspects Voldemort might not know he always presents it in a, "I'm certain my Lord is already familiar with this, but in case he would like some additional information from recent research..." sort of way and stays well aware of the fine line between being complimentary and coming off as a sycophant. At worst, presenting knowledge-based things that way makes him seem like a super eager, weirdly entertaining little dog--or a kid trying to impress his grandpa, I guess.
He's also extremely careful to make sure he stays useful (or at least entertaining) to Voldemort in enough of a capacity that Voldemort will be less likely to kill him or damage him to the point of incapacitating him because doing that would be inconvenient for Voldemort and if there's one thing Voldemort seems to not enjoy it's purposely inconveniencing himself.
AND he's well aware that if he missteps or misjudges a mood, there's a good chance he'll end up dead.
However, he's still not afraid of Voldemort, he's just carefully respectful of Voldemort’s power, time, and fairly predictable unpredictability (I mean, really, all you have to do is feed him rare books and odd little gifts now and again and tell him he's pretty intelligent and clever.)
I don’t know how to do brevity IC or OOC so....
With @absintheabsence  Calleo wasn't necessarily afraid of him at first either but he was wary because, even without the ability to use magic, and even accepting that some of the more dangerous aspects of Grindelwald's personality were directly tied to his extensive use of the Dark Arts, nobody is bound to be even remotely stable or predictable after spending 40+ years in solitary confinement and Calleo had no idea what kind of unstable it was just that his first reaction the first time Grindelwald looked like he was going to shuffle his old self across the cell and grab him, Calleo's immediate response was to back himself up against a wall and pull a wand despite being perfectly conversational with the, "You stay over there, I'll stay over here, and nothing will escalate." type statement.
And he figured out quickly how to recgonize when there was something he could do to derail oncoming instability or at least talk Grindelwald down and avoid something unpredictable and violent and when there was nothing he could do, he just left when it was the latter as he knew perfectly well he could easily end up dead in that situation.
Once it got to the point that he realized Grindelwald couldn't kill him or even do what he'd consider significant damage, even accidentally, and even if he really wanted to in the moment, he stopped leaving. It's not pleasant to stick around, because when it happens, Grindelwald does get amazingly violent, but he'd also rather see that turned outward than inward because when Grindelwald turns in on himself, any progress he's made in terms of improving mental health tends to significantly backslide.
Several times after that point, he has point blank told Grindelwald that he's not afraid of him.
In FB era threads it’s more of a Voldemort situation though he’s way more open with the, “We both know you’re not going to kill me because I’m useful to you, but, if you do decide to kill me I really don’t think I could care less unless I were dead. It’d be nice not to have to do things anymore,” aspect of it, even if he never says it overtly (but he definitely got bloodied up a lot for spending the better part of that nearly year at MACUSA making almost constant puns out of Graves’ name, especially since his reaction to being confronted by Not Graves about it a few years later was, “Oh, it was a grave mistake on my part.” while barely managing to keep a straight face.)
With @punybutpretty  it's more--just pointless to be afraid of him because if he's going to do something to either make Calleo's life a living nightmare or just plain kill him, there is not a single thing Calleo could do to stop it. To him, there's no point in being afraid of a situation you can't change, it's just unnecessary stress.
You accidentally catch the attention of someone who is a literal god and who could either turn your reality into a hellscape or just kill you or anything in between, and it's best to just kind of roll with it and hope none of those rolls are a 1.
So, that's what he went with from the start.
And also, when faced with someone who's just messing with (for now) Muggles for fun, Calleo's unfortunate response is usually along the lines of, "HA! Okay, that was hilarious! Let's go find a group of them and see how chaotic it can get because there is nothing in this area and I'm incredibly bored."

With a name like Fluckers, it’s got to be good!
For anyone who doesn’t know the reference, that’s the premise from a 1976 Saturday Night Live sketch (that link is to the transcript which takes 2 minutes to read, and is kinda necessary for understanding the point I’m trying to make here), so I think it’s the perfect metaphor for understanding our own Fluckers, aka Bucklemming.
But this is also a bit of Meta Meta, because this is poking fun at using the right words, at words having subjective importance that may differ from the speaker’s intent, and the fundamental relevance of understanding the speaker’s point of view as possibly distinct from the audience’s expectations, and the resulting misunderstandings leading to negative reactions.
(oh, and dramatic irony, the other big bad of s13)
Since this is even one of the main narrative themes of season 13, I think it’s well worth diving into, because there’s some real-life takeaways here that I think might be useful to bear in mind. We keep talking about characters using their words, using the RIGHT words, and the consequences not only of using the wrong words, or even just interpreting words incorrectly and not understanding the intent, I think this is doubly important right now. But I’m also gonna use this as a chance to explain a real-life phenomenon that I’m about reaching a state of ultimate exhaustion over. I’m gonna refer to it as the Fluckers Phenomenon. So I guess I need to explain what the heck Fluckers even is and why this is so painfully hilarious.
Back in the 1970’s, an American jelly company called Smuckers had a series of television ads that proclaimed, “With a name like Smuckers, it has to be good.” And really? Wtf? WHY should that admittedly odd-sounding name automatically imply a quality fruit spread product? I remember watching the ads as a kid and being absolutely baffled, because I personally don’t care for jelly at all and couldn’t think of a reason to justify ANY jelly being good. But that’s kinda besides the point.
Anyway, the ads featured a couple of kids talking about their family business, because their last name is Smuckers, so it’s kinda their legacy to make delicious, quality jams and jellies. That was the extent of the entire ad campaign. It kinda left a lot of open questions, you know? We’re Smuckers so we make good jam, and our jam is good because we’re Smuckers.
This isn’t even accounting for the snickering about the name itself… which SNL being SNL, used to excellent advantage in the Fluckers skit above. If you don’t know it, go read that link about it. Once again, it’s a very “Bucklemming Era” kind of joke, and considering they put a sideways sort of John Belushi reference into 13.18 as well, I figure this is the sort of thing that can go a long way toward explaining the disconnect in a lot of Bucklemming writing.
“Mangled Baby Ducks!”
“It’s so good, it’s sick making!”
“The brand so disgusting you can’t say it on television!”
Let me backtrack for a moment, because I’ve had a lot of people come to me in the last few days thanking me for trying to dissect a Bucklemming episode with any sort of objectivity, as if it’s some sort of magical power to overlook the expected knee-jerk reaction-worthy blech, for lack of a more descriptive term for it. The fact that Bucklemming is gonna continue happening to good people-- and to canon-- is a fact I’ve resigned myself to. Their episodes still exist, they’re still part of canon, and I, for one, will continue to watch giving them the benefit of the doubt for that reason. Not that I won’t be critical of them, or that I’ll just overlook when they are unnecessarily gross or terrible, but that I won’t allow the expectation that they are entirely awful to blind me to the fact that despite their reputation, they do actively write to the narrative themes, and they do actively understand the larger story here.
Yeah, Bucklemming Bingo is hilarious. Yeah, they have relied too heavily on horror tropes used poorly, and they’ve proven they can be tone-deaf to some of their more problematic choices. I’m not suggesting we forgive them for that, but I am suggesting that fandom vitriol for those things has warped our ability to give them any credit at all.
Think of how many times we’ve said or read, “Oh no, it’s bucklemming. I’m not watching it live. Somebody tell me if it’s even worth bothering to sit through 43 minutes of their bullshit.” Their reputation precedes them. People go into their episodes actively LOOKING for and expecting The Worst Possible Shit.
With a name like Fluckers, it’s probably filled with mangled baby ducks!
Which is… losing all perspective. Because the name might be terrible, but it’s still fruit spread in the jar. It ain’t actually mangled baby ducks.
I’m not saying that you have to be happy about everything they write, but this mindset of only expecting shit is gonna yield a lot of shit. The assumption that everything they write is inherently bad, or problematic, or somehow an obvious and inexplicable retcon, or OOC nonsense… it’s just flat-out misguided. Sorry, folks.
The fandom reaction to some of their episodes has been so over the top vitriolic when similar themes, characterizations, and plots from other writers are praised. Or at least examined objectively. So I’m not suggesting we just blindly accept everything they write is praiseworthy or good, but I am suggesting we afford them the same open-minded benefit of the doubt we give to the rest of the writing staff. And that starts with understanding and accepting the fact that their writing style is on a different level.
Sure, it’s disappointing that it feels as if the rest of the writing room is starting at a different baseline level, and that bucklemming episodes tend to drag down the tone a bit (okay, sometimes more than a bit), and that they seem to be more interested in being clever or self-referentially cute than elevating their stories to the same level as the rest of the team, but they aren’t going away, either. Either we accept that and learn to make some peace with that fact, and at least attempt to engage their episodes on the level we should’ve learned to expect from them by now, or else this is gonna be an ongoing source of fandom Fluckery.
I’m not saying we should just handwave some of their more egregious missteps, but the fact that they seem to be ALL we can focus on sometimes, to the exclusion of the 90% of their writing that’s serviceable, if not Pulitzer-winning, is one of the most frustrating aspects of fandom to me.
We’re all so quick to find that GOTCHA moment. We’re all so ready to be offended by everything in their episodes, to declare them problematic, to expect them to just get everything wrong, I see post after post nitpicking minor details that nobody would even question in a Dabb episode or a Bobo episode. I’ve seen far too many posts mischaracterizing or misconstruing past canon just to nitpick non-issues in Bucklemming episodes.
“But why was she called Charlie Bradbury in the AU?! They probably don’t even know her real name was Celeste Middleton. Those Bucklemmings are at it again.”
Why is this even an issue? Why is this even a question? Because she used the name Charlie Bradbury before she ever met Sam and Dean. That had already been her alias, probably since the first time she evaded the law as a young teen. So, long before the Apocalypse started. But because it was Bucklemming, folks didn’t even try to understand, knee-jerk assumed that they must just be idiots who don’t understand canon, and let themselves get mad about it. Then just… magnified the anger until it touched every aspect of the episode.
(and this is obviously just one example of this sort of reaction, and by far not the only one I’ve seen after this episode)
Charlie Bradbury would canonically be the correct name to use here. Of all the aliases she’s used in canon, this is the one that lines up with all the facts we know about the AU-- that Sam and Dean never existed there and the apocalypse happened anyway. She only changed her name again after 7.20. From 8.11:
Charlie: Charlie Bradbury is dead. She died a year ago. You killed her. My name is Carrie Heinlein. Oh, and guess what. Now you killed her, too.
It just feels like the fandom's actively, and with all dramatic irony, playing out the miscommunication themes.
(and since dramatic irony and miscommunication are two of the major meta themes of the season, I find this particularly fascinating, you know?)
I’m simply asking that we stop conflating Fluckers with Mangled Baby Ducks. I mean, if I expect jelly and get mangled baby ducks, I’m gonna point that out, but 99% of the time, I’m actually getting jelly here. Complaining it’s grape when I prefer black cherry isn’t gonna change the fact that I have, in fact, been served jelly.

@mysterious-clouds-of-colour I’m answering you in a reblog because my answer won’t fit in a reply, but basically - I am only familiar with her work via halo, but she was given control over some very important and foundational lore/plot for halo in the post-war era of the franchise and handled it very poorly (retconned a bunch of the stuff, characters were OOC, things like that). there’s also some very reactionary stuff in her work that’s kinda complicated to get into (weird race essentialism stuff with aliens, an ableist plot line with one of the spartans where their disability is “fixed”, extremely bizarre gender dynamics and politics, etc), but she’s a conservative feminist type from the UK and it very much shows in her work. She’s widely regarded (on tumblr at least, it’s more divisive on the forums/Reddit) as one of the worst authors in the Halo EU and that reputation is very well earned imo.
I’m much less familiar with her work in Star Wars, but from the discussions I’ve seen/heard on here it sounds like people have very similar complaints. She openly brags about not being familiar with the source material/canon she’s working with, and as a consequence her writing tends to overwrite or re-write existing lore, often in a way that is difficult to correct or manage in a trans-media franchise like Halo.

people watchin'
hello!
My name is Emmy! I’m going to make this fairly short (or at least try to haaA). I am in my mid-twenties and prefer my partners to be 20+.
I love detailed plots and stories; crafting good posts is a huge part of why I love rping. I match/mirror my partner’s length and put a high amount of importance on compatibility as writers. Good grammar, punctuation, spelling is A Thing for me. I put 110% in. I write fully lit to novella style rps. If you want a partner that’s invested in writing together and all the joy that brings, I’m your person!
I am looking for original period piece/historical drama roleplays full of drama and angst, fallout related roleplays, roleplays centered on fictional NHL players, and a few more.
what do I write?
I can write f/m, m/m, and m/f pairings- doesn't really matter to me so long as the plot and characters are compelling.
Fallout New Vegas & 4: I can do OCs for this, or I can play several canon characters such as Arcade Gannon, The King, and Cass.
I would also love to play Wolverine against a Jean Grey. All in all, I am a happy camper with this one.
***The Crown/British Monarchy: I have a niche interest in the British monarchy and figures related to it, specifically George VI, Elizabeth II.
Pleeease get @ me if you're interested in a healthy dose of history with whatever twists we can come up with :)
Here are a few plots/prompts to get started:
As for general OC ideas, here’s a list:
street racing, fast-and-furious-esque setting
small town canadiana or americana
fun, fluffy romance based modern settings
light worldbuilding - new to this but wanting to learn
WWI / WWII history based
something based around the Titanic (I know, so cheesy)
alternate history — I would love to work on doing some worldbuilding with you and creating some kind of retro-futuristic alt history IE fallout before the nukes dropped.
1960s space race or modern space exploration (I just really love the ideas of space exploration, scientists, engineers, astronauts)
honestly whatever you can pitch to me that isn’t high fantasy :)
I can expand on and work with any of these ideas, these are just topics. Whatever I do with you, I promise it’ll be fleshed out, with tons of opportunity for drama.
how do we get started?
Pleaaase send me an email at [email protected]! I will get back to you asap, but please give me some of your thoughts/an idea of why/what you’d like to write with me! I can write over discord or email or both. We can sort out the brass tacks there and figure out if we’re a good match. If we hit it off I'll share my discord with you (I find I don't always get messages with discord requests and I can't sort spam from actual accounts). Thanks for your time and I hope I hear from you!

My oc is actually a spy on your oc’s national government. Espionage, reconnaissance, and betrayal abound.
My oc is royalty (think British monarchy) and yours is, absolutely not; either a reporter, a soldier, maybe a business person. My oc has taken interest in yours as a friend to keep them grounded… or as a thin veil for a romance that absolutely no one would approve of.
Pleaaase send me an email at
or add me on discord at emmy/#5091 ! I will get back to you asap, but please give me some of your thoughts/an idea of why/what you’d like to write with me! I can write over discord or email or both. We can sort out the brass tacks there and figure out if we’re a good match. :) Thanks for your time and I hope I hear from you!
