Ayyyyeeeeee it's my husband's birthday today! He is ~*old*~ No, my actual husband, not the fictional character I'm bizarrely fixated on 🙃 (though I did bully him into dressing up as said character so there's that hahaha what is reality) Anyway, even though he never posts on Instagram, Jim is still wonderful for many reasons. He is intelligent and kind, he's a wonderful cat dad, and he puts up with most of my nonsense. It's never too cold for Iced Coffee 👀👀👀 So, I got an email that @moodfabrics was having a Cyber Monday sale, so I decided to scope out their snowflake selection because I'm pure RWBY garbage. They didn't have much, but what they did have was GOLD. I found this fantastic blue and green snowflake plaid! It was perfect for making something to wear as my cringey OTP, and it's subtle enough for us to wear IRL, especially at this time of year. We get to be all matchy matchy weeby trashy~ The vest came out perfectly (you can't see them, but the buttons are little compasses!!), but I was pretty disappointed with the dress pattern, as it was completely the wrong size. I went by my measurements, but it was huge and baggy. I really should have gone a full size down, though that was for measurements I haven't had since I was an actual child. Not a teen, a CHILD. I had to alter it quite a bit, and it mostly fits now (it could stand for a bit more tweaking, but it looks fine). I did also alter it to make it more Weiss-like, with a high collar, bell sleeves, and lace trim. I learned that working with plaids wasn't as intimidating as I'd previously feared, but this fabric was a nightmare. It was printed crooked, and because it has a bit of stretch, the print was also skewed. The fabric itself was easy to work with, but I wouldn't recommend this specific fabric unless you're prepared to have nothing match up. I've got an even line of snowflakes across the bust, and they're angled at the waist. 🙄 I guess that's what belts are for. Speaking of belts, I didn't get to make a new belt for this cosplay, so I just used the one from my flannel dress since it has the Weiss buckle I made. So getting @j_ammeson to post on Instagram is like pulling teeth, so I guess today I'm going to have brag about my magnificent husband (and my own handiwork). Jim's probably the most accommodating person in the world since he allows me to dress him up as my RWBY husbando, parade him around conventions, and take kissyface pictures that are literally only appealing to me and the handful of people I've coerced into shipping Iced Coffee (okay but those two were literally made for each other and you cannot convince me otherwise). Yet another cosplay wedding photo! It was a lot of fun to take these. Luckily, my apartment complex has some very picturesque areas. It's such a nice place to live, and @j_ammeson is a pretty okay guy to live there with, if only because he tolerates my weirdness and helped me bring my garbage OTP to life in these pics. 😂 I like how the snowflakes show up on the veil in this photo.
