If you’re on the front lines; THANK YOU, take care of yourself, and remember that there are folx who appreciate what you’re doing. If you know someone on the front lines; try to do something for them like making a mask, giving them a treat (chocolate, energy bars/drinks, quick meals etcetera), give them a gift card, offer to do a shopping trip, get them tp, ask them what they need, offer a listening nonjudgmental ear, send them a stuffed toy... the list goes on. Remember that there are lots and lots of folx on the front line, seen and unseen. Medical field includes not just the doctors and nurses but the phlebotomists and lab techs, the aides and cooks, the janitorial staff and so on. There are police, firefighters, paramedics and EMTs. There are also gas station attendants, cashiers, trash collectors, and all the others who are essential to the smooth running of society. Be kind to one another. When you see someone being unkind, don’t be afraid to call them out. Not meanly but something like “Are you okay?” They’ll ask why and then you can say “Well you’re acting very rude and you don’t look like the kind of person who would be rude so I wondered if something was wrong.” This gives them an out. A reason for them to have been an a** and then back up and behave. If we ignore bad behavior then we condone it. Let’s praise good behavior and call out the bad and make this world a better place for everyone. Hmmmm maybe I should have put up the soapbox graphic!
