Cinco De Mayo didn’t seem the same at work today. Because of Covid we couldn’t have our traditional party with our customers. So to celebrate I treated the staff to steak tacos from @laEsperanza in Elkhart. #onlyhadone #nospiceaorsalsaonmine #hadmychickentoo on top of that Gaston delivered it and asked if Belle was here, told him I was sorry, she was dating a real animal. @worldwidepawn (at LaEsperanza Elkhart) https://www.instagram.com/p/B_0HaLylJ38/?igshid=1q017d8fcnacf

Snippets of daily life on the Moby Dick
Casey:
After training and lunch, Casey walks around and looks for the perfect spot to nap. Her favorite place is next to / on Stefan, while she’s in her fox form. There were countless of pictures of her doing this, as most of her family found it adorable. She didn’t care, she just loved how safe she felt, when napping with Stefan or sometimes on Whitebeard’s lap.
Today, however, she found someone else to nap with. It was a cold day and only a few didn’t bother with the cold. Casey was one of them, being a Ice fox kitsune. The person she had spotted, was another one, who didn’t mind the cold that much. He was sitting on the couch in the common room.
“Jiru.” Casey grinned and sat next to him, gettin a soft smile and a hair ruffle from him, to which she gave a soft purr. “Are you busy?” She wouldn’t takea nap next to him or on his lap, if he was busy.
“Nah, not really. I’m ahead of my schedule for once. Come.” He smiled, patting on his lap, knowing what she wanted. Her routine was well known to everyone, even those who’d only been there a few weeks. Casey loved routines, as life itself was chaotic enough.
Grinning, she turned into her fox form and curled up on his lap. He pulled out abrush from who new where and started to brush her furr, earning soft purrs, as she drifted into the  land of dreams. It was so nice to have a family who knew you and loved spoiling you.

Sheila and Marco:
In the evening, where most people are either drinking outside or in one of the common rooms, a few are sitting in the library. Sheila is one of them, sitting on a couch, legs up and with a blanket over her. On the small table next to her is a bottle of wine and a glass. In her hands, she holds a book, eyes focused on the words that dances over the pages.
She didn’t even look up, when Marco enters the room in search for a medical book he placed there a few days ago. Spotting his sister, he smiles lightly, not even surprised she was there all by herself. After all, he knew how much she enjoyed the quiet there was here and she loved to read. Mostly history books and about mythology and legends. It fascinate her.
Then he spotted the red wine and frowned lightly. She was also one of the few he had often told not to drink too much. Normally he didn’t mingle in the choice of drinking, but with her he felt he had no choice. He walked up to her and firs tthen did she look up. People often called him stoic and stiff, but it was nothign compared to Sheila.
“Learning something new, yoi?” He asked, as he eyed the wine and was pleased to see she onlyhadone glass so far.
Sheila followed his gaze and lifted a brow. Today was one of her better days, so she didn’t drink too much. Not cmmenting on his gaze,s he answered his question. “A little. Did you know that the Phoenix is thought of as the origin of the mythical creatures? In the legend, it says that the Phoenix rose from ashes of a burnt world. It grew bigger and bigger with every day and one day, its flames engulfed the island it lived on, though it didn’t burn. It’d been a gold island, but when the Phoenix called the flames back, the island was alive, with trees, bushes, a river, a lake, flowers and other plant life, along with many other creatures.”
“Interesting. I guess the flames of rebirth was used, yoi?” He knew a little about the legend and myth about the Phoenix. Since he had eaten the tori tori no mi: model phoenix, he had read a little about the phoenix, in hopes to understand his own powers more. As sme myths and legends held some truth to them.
She nodded and took a sip of her wine. Marco smiled, happy to see she was doing fine and too engulfed in the legend of the phoenix and mythical creatures. He knew she wouldn’t drink too much today. Excusing himself,he found his book and sat at the desk. The silent company always felt better than the silence in his room.

Jessica:
If there was one person who loved routine, it was Jessica. It gave her place to do something different and new, when inspiration hit her. She could count on everything going as smoothly as possible in the kitchen, as everyone knew their place. She might only be the sous chef, but with Thatch having other duties and responsibilities, she often found herself in charge after lunch. Not that it was the busiest moment in the kitchen. All they did was cleanng up and prepping for dinner.
She made sure that the quality was still to Thatch’s standard, but mostly she let the cooks do their thing. Supervising them was easy, so she often used this time to make the afternoon snack or sometimes she tried out a new recipe or came up with one. It was her time to explore her skills and understanding of food. She’d learned a lot from Thatch, but if she couldn’t put that knowledge to a test on her own, she was just a prep cook or ordinary cook.
“What are you making?” One of the cooks asked her, as he came to ask her if she thought he’d added to much salt to the soup. Jessica was mixing oil with some herbs and spices.
“A new dressing for the salat tonight. Wanna taste?” She grinned and found a spoon. He took it and she poured some onto the spoon. Curious and feeling honored, he tasted it. For a moment he let the taste sink in.
“Something is missing, but I can’t tell what.” He mused, but was impressed by her skills for making something so simple taste so different from other dressings. Her and Thatch were wizards in the kitchen.
She nodded thoughtful. “You’re right. I’ll ponder over it. Did you need something?”
“Yeah, I am not sure, but I thin I added a little too much salt to the soup.” He blushed a little and she chuckled. before following him. Tasting the soup, it was a tad saly, so she added some more water. Adding to much salt or spices could happen to all, so he wasn’t scolded.
She went back to her dressing and after some tries, she did indeed manage to nail the taste. Pleased with it, she made a large bowl of it, put it in the fridge and worked on the snacks. She would surprise Thatch with the dressing later.
