Day Trading Indicators and Indication Trading.
Day Trading Indicators and Indication Trading. Did You Begin Day Trading As An Indicator Only Trader? It's a great time to start! an introducing broker: https://live.4xc.com/signup/FG4aG6qb Did you start day trading after purchasing a book on technical analysis, and getting a charting program - probably a complimentary one that you discovered online - to conserve money? While reading your book you found out about trading signs that might 'anticipate' price movement, and what do you understand, the 'finest' indicators were consisted of in your free charting program - let the video games begin. Now that you have all the day trading tools that are needed, the book for education AND the free charting program with those 'finest' day trading signs, you now need a day trading plan so you can decide which among those 'magic' day trading signs you are supposed to utilize. This truly is an excellent book, besides telling you how to day trade using indications to 'anticipate' cost - it also says that you require a trading plan to day trade. The book informed you about trend following using an indicator called MACD, and it also told you how it was possible to select the top or bottoms using a sign called stochastic; I guess that you selected the stochastic sign to start your day trading - this should be the 'finest of the finest' since this indicator was going to ensure you of entering your trades with the 'best' cost. Remarkable, just remarkable how easy this day trading things is. My book was Technical Analysis of the Futures Markets. My charting program was TradeStation with an eSignal FM receiver; that was the one that if you hung the antennae wires just right, and you put enough foil on the tips, you may even get quotes. I had offered a business before I began trading so I did have some capital - isn't that how everyone enters trading, you either sell a business or you lose your job? My indicator was the MACD as I had chosen that I was going to be a 'pattern follower' rather than a 'top-bottom picker'. I also decided that I was going to be 'additional' clever, if one indication was good then 2 indicators needed to be better, so I included a 20-duration moving average. My very first trade was a winner, then after many months of extensive treatment, I was finally able to forget the next twelve months. Learning To Day Trading - The Learning Progression. Trading indicators are readily available to anybody who has a charting program, and just utilizing line crosses, or pie chart color changes, supply 'easy' signals to comprehend. It's a great time to start! an introducing broker: https://live.4xc.com/signup/FG4aG6qb If you will likewise take the time to learn the math behind your indications, as well as discover what each sign is specifically meant to do, not only is this a logical way to start, but it is likewise a great 'action' in your learning progression - comprehending the WHAT you are doing, instead of attempting to develop 'canned' indicator just trading systems, without any regard as to WHY you are trading this way. Now what - you 'can't' develop your indications, so you start doing Google searches for day trading indications and start buying your 'collection' - they don't 'work' either. Now what - you purchase a mechanical trading system - what do theoretical outcomes may not be a sign of real trading or future results suggest? Now what - you never learn how to trade. I started trading as an indicator trader, and I did attempt to find out whatever I might about the numerous signs, in addition to trying to combine indications that were consistent with how I wished to trade - I simply might never develop a mechanical day trading system from what was readily available to me. I checked out a couple more books that didn't assist me, so I started trying to find someone who might teach me. From what I now know about gurus -vs- instructors, I am fortunate that I got involved with a money manager-trader who taught me a remarkable amount, however, I still could not get profitable, in part because there was also 'pressure' to learn how to trade utilizing real money. As well, any discussions or ideas about trading psychology and the issues involved, particularly to beginning traders, were non-existent. Now what - discovering but losing - I stopped trading. Discovering trading using genuine cash, and 'scoffing' at trading psychology as simply a private weak point, truly was something that I now consider as misinformation. I constantly discuss this as I now feel that this cost me as much as a year, and was close to costing me my trading future, as stopped trading and was VERY close to giving up trading. How can't trading psychology be real to a newbie, when you consider that you are running the risk of losing cash at an extremely fast pace as a day trader, and when you even more consider that you are likewise doing this when you do not understand what you are doing - this is NOT by meaning being weak. And if trading psychology is genuine, how are you going to? The book informed you about trend following utilizing an indication called MACD, and it likewise told you how it was possible to choose the leading or bottoms utilizing an indication called stochastic; I guess that you chose the stochastic sign to start your day trading - this must be the 'best of the finest' considering that this indicator was going to ensure you of entering your trades with the 'finest' rate. Now what - you purchase a mechanical trading system - what do hypothetical results may not be indicative of real trading or future results suggest? I began trading as an indicator trader, and I did try to discover everything that I might about the numerous indications, as well as attempting to combine indicators that were consistent with how I desired to trade - I just might never develop a mechanical day trading system from what was readily available to me. Discovering trading utilizing genuine cash, and 'scoffing' at trading psychology as merely a specific weak point, really was something that I now consider as misinformation. I always mention this as I now feel that this cost me as much as a year, and was very close to costing me my trading future, as stopped trading and was VERY close to quitting trading. It's a great time to start! an introducing broker: https://live.4xc.com/signup/FG4aG6qb Ian Jackson.

Episode 167 : More Tune
"We on they mood board, though they livin' in denial."
- Solace
This month's selection came together slowly and then all at once! It's turned out to be a great combination of deep album cuts, some lesser-known bonus tracks and remixes, as well as some brand new nuggets you can and should add to your collection! Of course I had to give you some Guru, and we start the episode with a cover version of a record that samples another musical giant, the recently and sadly departed Ahmad Jamal.
Don't forget that you can get the up-to-date list of my upcoming streams and events at events.airadam.com!
Twitter : @airadam13
Twitch : @airadam13
Playlist/Notes
Elzhi & Will Sessions : The World Is Yours
RIP to the great Ahmad Jamal, the legendary pianist who was famously sampled on the original "The World Is Yours" on the classic Nas "Illmatic" LP. As we've already played that on the podcast, we instead turn to the excellent re-imagining of that album by the all-Detroit combination of the band Will Sessions and the gifted MC Elzhi. It's always interesting when a musician is sampled by a Hip-Hop producer, and then that production later remade by other live musicians - bringing things full circle.
The Quarter Inch Kings : I'm No Comeback
As part of the Beat Tape Project, Toronto's Quarter Inch Kings channel some soulful flavour on this instrumental from "The AZ Beat Tape" - one that I could very well hear the Brooklyn Legend on.
Masta Ace & Marco Polo : Masta Polo
I was almost going to describe Marco Polo as one of the new generation of producers, but then I realised - it's been eighteen years! Still fresh, yet a veteran, he combines with a legend from the Juice Crew, Brooklyn's Masta Ace, for some classy 21st century boom-bap. You need to find the Deluxe edition of the Polo-produced "A Breukelen Story" album to get this one, and it's well worth the effort.
Terri Walker ft. Ty : OK
One of the finest soul singers these isles have ever produced, though an underappreciated one, Terri Walker has always shown love to the home team, with this track being a great example. The Nottingham stalwart Joe Buhdha is behind the boards, and the late London don TY warms up the mic before Ms Walker strides over the instrumentation. You might know her first few LPs, but definitely check for the later stuff, such as the EP this track was release on, "Joe Buhdha Presents Breakout". RIP Ty, live long Terri Walker.
Gang Starr : 2 Deep (City Lick Mix)
This is one of my earliest Hip-Hop 12" purchases, and a version of the Gang Starr classic deep single that I had to grow into! The UK's Dodge City Productions were, in retrospect, a perfect choice to take on remix duties here, a group well-steeped in the jazz that Gang Starr had helped pioneer as part of Hip-Hop. The late great Guru is in fine form, on his grown man business over all three verses - starting closer to battle mode and then weaving in his message. Apparently a Europe-only release, this is a worthy version to stand next to the original from the "Daily Operation" LP.
Curren$y : Fortune 500
This is clearly an anthem for LLC Twitter, with one long verse about getting that cash, and the outro showing Curren$y quizzing the next generation. The brand new "For Motivational Use Only" LP is another in the set of releases where Curren$y links up with a single producer to build a cohesive whole - in this case, the veteran Jermaine Dupri. I'd be lying if I said it was a collaboration that I was thinking about, but it works!
Medline : Payé Entièrement
Sound familiar? If you didn't guess from the title, this is a wicked instrumental cover of the classic "Paid In Full" by Eric B & Rakim that just cannot be denied. You can head straight over to Bandcamp to get the digital version as a bonus cut on the "Je Sais Que Tu As De L'Âme" release (put that into Google Translate if you don't speak French) - really, an essential pickup in my opinion.
Knaladeus : Lose Or Win
Not in terms of complexity as such, but in terms of tone, does Knaladeus here remind you of Black Thought at all? Either way, self-produced dopeness with quality songwriting from this artist out of Florida, one of the early tracks on his 2018 "Letters To You" album. His heartfelt lyrics on top of that beat are already a great blend, but the cherry is provided by DJ Stranger's cuts, drawing from the lyrics of Guru - once I heard those, this track was a lock for this episode.
Onra : 1-4 TONI
If you like a track with instructions (think "Jump Around", or hell, even "The Time Warp"), then this is up your street. That said, if you weren't already nodding your head to this one, you might want to clear your ears out first! Nice beat by the man from Paris, a 2018 track that went unreleased until Valentine's Day this year.
Superbad Solace : Throwing Fits
One for the Lo heads, from one of the foremost representatives currently recording! Solace has done it again with his "Sol Controller 3" project, and this track dedicated to the art of getting fresh is a personal favourite. The references to the Ralph Lauren brand and lifestyle are numerous, but as Solace points out, "you can buy gear, but you can't buy style"! The beat by Mono en Stereo makes you feel like you need to be posing on a yacht for a catalogue somewhere :)
Panama Gat : So Lonely
This man has a spectacular MC name, though it feels a little wrong to point it out when the subject of his song on this episode is so serious. It's raw at times, but that's often how it goes when you're expressing real emotion. On the production front, the soul-sampling beat reminds you of the work of Kanye West and Just Blaze around the same era, but it's not a bite in any way. I'm not sure who put it together, but my guess is 9th Wonder, as this is part of the Justus League "Just Us, Vol. 6" mixtape.
Leavv : Within
A little of that Chillhop flavour for you, with Leavv coming from Germany but this track coming from some kind of dreamland where even the passing clouds come with a bumping drum accompaniment. Find this on the "Chillhop Essentials - Fall 2017" collection, which even now is available as a "name your price" release on Bandcamp!
Ilajide : Boom Shakalak
I'd almost forgotten this track from "#0414917"! The programming of this beat by one of Detroit's finest is on a half-time vibe which makes it feel much slower than the 100bpm than it measures at, and he works that by keeping his flow on the mic downtempo too.
Tha Chill ft. Kokane : RNO
Part of the respected Compton's Most Wanted, Tha Chill missed out on featuring on two of the group's LPs due to legal troubles, but bounced back from them and not only reunited with the crew but has a solid set of solo releases to his name. This track is from the 2020 "Fohead" LP, and I think may be self-produced - the instrumental embodies his name, with it being a little dark and cold, and moderately uptempo without being hectic. On the mic he's joined by another "if you know, you know" west coast legend, Pomona's Kokane, an artist well worth exploring in his own right.
Sepalot ft. Blu : Surrender
Rough, angular, lurching electronic rawness! Heading back over to Germany (Munich, to be precise), we pick up this B-side from the 2008 "She Likes Me" 12", loaded with synths and disembodied yells. It's a challenging background for an MC, but Blu, who you might know for considerably more gentle material, handles it with no problem at all.
Erick Sermon ft. MC Lyte and Rah Digga : Tell Me (If You Don't Feel Me)
Erick Sermon is a respected MC in his own right, but part of his production greatness is in knowing when to draft in even more firepower, as he does here on the 2002 "React" album! Two different generations (in terms of career period, if not age) combine to burn up the guest features here, with Brooklynite MC Lyte and Newark's Rah Digga bringing it home over Erick's beat, which very much has the flavour of the era.
Dâm-Funk : The Flow
The "STFU II" EP is - relatively speaking - a chilled collection for the Pasadena modern funk legend. This track has clean, gliding keyboard pads, but also the right weight of drums and synth bass, plus the tempo, to allow you to dance to it if that's how you feel. Dâm-Funk has been building up a very respectable discography since his 2008 debut single - take some time to explore it if you haven't already.
DJ Quik ft. Ludacris : Spur Of The Moment / Pacific Coast Remix
This might not be the most progressive track in the world, but it sounds absolutely fantastic, still. A standout on 2005's "Trauma" album, in shows how skilled DJ Quik is not just as a producer (and MC), but also as a mixer/engineer. The sunshiney vibes pour out of this one, and Ludacris, who my Twitch crowd all seem to agree is an underrated MC, hits the mark perfectly as a guest. This track seems to have a different title depending on whether you have the CD or vinyl of the album, but the only difference between them is how you rewind it to play it again once it fades out!
Please remember to support the artists you like! The purpose of putting the podcast out and providing the full tracklist is to try and give some light, so do use the songs on each episode as a starting point to search out more material. If you have Spotify in your country it's a great way to explore, but otherwise there's always Youtube and the like. Seeing your favourite artists live is the best way to put money in their pockets, and buy the vinyl/CDs/downloads of the stuff you like the most!
Check out this episode!

5 Laws Anyone Working in best beginner keyboard piano
Correction Appended
On an album of bittersweet childrens songs that she wrote greater than ten years back, the lady who arrived being known only given that the piano teacher available what, in hindsight, seems like an eerie glimpse of her own upcoming.
Im relocating absent nowadays to a place so far-off, where by nobody understands my identify, she wrote inside the lyrics of a song named Going.
When she wrote that music, she was younger and vivacious, a piano Instructor and freelance songs writer who liked Beethoven and jazz, sunsets and river Seems, lengthy walks and every little thing about New York.
On a kind of beloved walks, via Central Park in the intense sun of a June day in 1996, a homeless drifter defeat her and tried to rape her, leaving her clinging to lifestyle. After the attack, the words and phrases to her tune came genuine. She moved away, outside of Ny city, from her previous everyday living, and all but her closest pals didn't know her identify. To the rest of the planet, she was — similar to the additional famed jogger attacked in Central Park seven a long time earlier — an nameless symbol of an urban nightmare. She was the piano Instructor.
Now, on the tenth anniversary in the attack, she's celebrating what is apparently her complete Restoration from brain trauma. She is 42, married, with a little boy or girl. She's Kyle Kevorkian McCann, the piano Trainer, and she or he wants to inform her story, her way.
Her physician instructed her it could take a decade to Get well, and Sunday was that talismanic anniversary. I really feel my life has long been redefined by Central Park, she reported several days ago, her voice gentle and hopeful. Before park; immediately after park. Will there at any time certainly be a time when I dont Imagine, Oh, This can be the tenth anniversary, the eleventh anniversary?
She spoke in her modest ranch house inside a wooded subdivision in the New York suburb. She sat in a dining area strewn with toys, surrounded by pictures of her cherubic, darkish-haired 2-calendar year-old daughter. A Steinway grand crammed half the home, and at just one level she sat down and performed. Her participating in was forceful, but she seemed humiliated to play more than a few bars, and shrugged, rather than answering, when asked the identify from the piece. She asked that her daughter and her city not be named.
She phone calls that day, June four, 1996, the working day After i was damage.
Hers was the 1st in a string of assaults by the same person on four Gals about 8 days. The last target, Evelyn Alvarez, sixty five, was overwhelmed to death as she opened her Park Avenue dry-cleansing shop, and in the long run, the assailant, John J. Royster, was convicted of murder and sentenced to lifestyle in prison.
Yet the attack about the piano Trainer will be the a person folks appear to keep in mind one of the most. A part of the fascination must do with echoes of your 1989 attack on the Central Park jogger. But What's more, it frightened persons in a method the assault on the jogger did not since its circumstances were so mundane.
It did not happen in the remote Component of the park late at night, but close to a popular playground at 3 from the afternoon. It might have took place to any individual. The strain was heightened via the secret with the piano lecturers identity.
For three times, as police and Medical doctors tried to see who she was, she lay in the coma in her hospital bed, nameless. Her parents were being on getaway and her boyfriend, also a musician, was in Europe, on tour. Finally, one among her pupils regarded a police sketch and was in a position to discover her while in the clinic by her fingers, simply because her encounter was swollen beyond recognition. The law enforcement didn't release her name.
The very last thing she remembers about June 4, 1996, is providing a lesson in her studio condominium on West 57th Street, then Placing her lengthy hair inside of a ponytail and likely out for any stroll. She doesn't try to remember the assault, Even though she has heard the accounts with the police and prosecutors.
To me its just like a fact I discovered and memorized, she said. Like I have been a university student in class researching heritage.
She doesn't consider the man who did it. I might have been indignant for just a minute, although not a lot longer than that, she said. How could I be indignant at John Royster? He was declared not insane, but I guess by our expectations he was.
Dr. Jamshid Ghajar, her health practitioner at Big apple Medical center-Cornell Healthcare Heart, as it had been recognised in 1996, explained to reporters that she had a ten percent chance of survival. Medical practitioners experienced to get rid of her forehead bone, which was afterwards changed, to generate place for her swelling Mind. When her mom manufactured a public appeal to pray for my daughter, hundreds did.
Just after eight times, she came away from a coma, 1st in a vegetative point out, then in the childlike state. As she recovered, she slept minor and talked regularly, often in gibberish. I was acquiring mad at persons once they didnt reply to these words and phrases, she said.
Like an Alzheimers affected person, she had very little brief-term memory and would forget people when they remaining the home.
Over quite a few months, she had to relearn the best way to stroll, dress, study and publish. Her boyfriend, Tony Scherr, frequented every day to Participate in guitar for her. He encouraged her to Perform the piano, in opposition to the recommendation of her Actual physical therapists, who imagined she can be annoyed by her incapacity to Engage in how she when had. Mr. Scherr performed Beatles duets along with her, enjoying the still left-hand component even though she performed the correct.
youtube
Which was my finest therapy, she said.
In August, she moved again residence to New Jersey, with her father, an engineer, and mother, a schoolteacher. She visited outdated haunts and named buddies, striving to restore her shattered memory. I had been pretty obsessed with remembering, she mentioned. Any memory loss was to me an indication of abnormality or deficit.
Her therapists thought her progress was terrific, but her two sisters protested that she was not the deep thinker she had been.
What bothered her most was that she experienced misplaced a chance to cry, like a faucet inside of her Mind had been turned off. One night, nine months right after she was harm, she stayed up late to look at the John Grisham movie A Time for you to Destroy. Just following her father had gone to mattress, she watched a courtroom scene of Samuel Jacksons character on demo for killing two Adult males who experienced raped his young daughter.
The faucet opened, and also the tears trickled down her cheeks. I thought about my mom and dad, my father, and whatever they went by, she stated. Minimal by tiny, my experience returned, my depth of thoughts returned.
youtube
Urged by her sisters, she went back to school and obtained a masters degree in tunes training.
Not every thing went effectively. She and Mr. Scherr break up up five years after the assault, although they continue to be buddies. She dated other Adult males, but she usually instructed them in regards to the attack without delay — she could not assistance it, she claimed — plus they under no circumstances referred to as to get a 2nd date.
We now have to locate you anyone, her Mate David Phelps, a guitar player, said 4 yrs in the past, ahead of introducing her to Liam McCann, a computer technician and novice drummer. For once, she did not say nearly anything regarding the assault till she obtained to grasp Mr. McCann, after which you can when she did, he admired her strength.
Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani, who experienced typically visited her at her bedside when she was inside the healthcare facility, married them in his Moments Sq. Business. She wore a blue costume and pearls. While she was Expecting, inside of a burst of creativity, she and her mates recorded Even though Have been Young, an album of childrens tunes that she had created ahead of the assault, such as the song Relocating. Her ex-boyfriend, Mr. Scherr, manufactured the CD. On it, her husband performs drums and she plays electrical piano.
Is her lifestyle as it was? Not specifically, although she is hesitant to attribute the discrepancies to her accidents. Her last two piano pupils remaining her, with out calling to clarify why, she explained. She has resumed enjoying classical audio, but easy parts, due to the fact her daughter won't give her time and energy to observe. As for jazz, I dont even check out, she claimed.
She would want to push extra, emotion stranded inside the suburbs, but she is easily rattled. She attempts to be articles with being house and caring for her daughter.
Dr. Ghajar, a medical professor of neurological operation at precisely what is now known as Big apple-Presbyterian Clinic/Weill Cornell Clinical Middle, who operated on Ms. Kevorkian McCann following the attack, explained final 7 days that her volume of recovery was exceptional. Shes in essence regular, he reported.
Other gurus, who will be not personally knowledgeable about Ms. Kevorkian McCanns scenario, are more careful.
Regaining the opportunity to Engage in the piano may well entail an Pretty much mechanical course of action, a semiautomatic recall of exactly what the fingers need to do, claimed Dr. Yehuda Ben-Yishay, a professor of scientific rehabilitation drugs at Big apple University Faculty of Medicine. As soon as Mind-injured, you happen to be always brain-hurt, For the remainder of your life, Dr. Ben-Yishay mentioned. There is absolutely no cure, There is certainly only intensive compensation.
The more telling part of a recovery, in his watch, is psychological, and on that score he counts Ms. Kevorkian McCanns marriage and child as a significant victory.
youtube
For her aspect, the piano Trainer knows she has adjusted, but she has manufactured her peace with it. I had been form of a hyper —— I dont know if I used to be a sort A, but I had been formidable, she says. Why was I so formidable? I used to be a piano Instructor. I dont determine what the ambition was about. I actually did return to the person Im imagined to be.

LOFIDREAMERS UNDERGROUND CRUSADES: The finest in Producers, Beat Makers & Musicians who dwell well away from the mainstream culture…
SONO TWS: SAO PAULO, BRAZIL BASED HIP HOP ALCHEMIST/REGGAE DJ/GRAFFITI WRITER
I first heard SONO'S Killer Hip Hop Instrumentals via our own LOFIDREAMERS Facebook page and ever since then have been craving more from this bonafide street story teller. Let's find out more about the "Tired of people" boss......
Ashley LOFIDREAMERS: So Sono, I hear you pick up a spray can as well as go digging for and chopping samples. What came first for you making the raw Hip Hop beat tapes or the Graffiti writing?
SONO TWS: Yo Ashley! First of all thanks for the space to speak, it means a lot and sorry about my English mistakes... i am still learning man! My history begins as a kid, here in my city of Jundiai, Sao Paulo there is a local radio station that was one of the radio stations that gave a lot of space to rap music, and so my friends and me always listened to the radio. Rap was the sound track of major moments of my life. I always wanted to produce beats but it was like something far too distant for me to grasp at that time, so i couldn't learn or understand it, i guess my mind wasn't ready for it then. The Graffiti/Pixação came first in my story. Since I was 15 years old i was putting in work on the streets with some friends. Graffiti had a major rule in my life, the sense of freedom, the real meaning of STYLE, you know... you got to have some funky style to your throw up to get noticed in middle of others. And this is the vibe i try to give my beats, that S T Y L E!
Jundiai above a municipality in the state of São Paulo, Brazil which Sono calls his home.
Ashley LOFIDREAMERS: Who is your biggest inspiration in the Hip Hop World? A Graffiti writer or a producer or is it a mixture of both?
SONO TWS: My favorite producers are Pete Rock and Kan Kick. The music from these guys still inspires me now. You know, i am still bumping the classics on heavy rotation. But my main inspiration comes too with the "local heroes.” Here in Brazil it is extremely difficult to live solely by the art/music. Music is my life but i need to have other work to survive. So i get inspired by the struggle of friends that keep putting in work on the streets when you know you will hardly get the investment back when you release a record or a cassette tape. I guess it's everywhere, all these years doing beats i have made lots of friends worldwide and everyone is struggling... so these stories are my inspiration.
Pete Rock Above, Kan Kick Below.
Ashley LOFIDREAMERS: Your debut beat tape on "Tired of People" "Street Talk [ZZZ01]" is a crazy mixture of dusty grooves and expertly put together samples of Soul and Jazz. What is the story behind the production of this dope ode to classic era Hip Hop?
SONO TWS: Tired Of People is a label i created to put my personal work out; with my references and with my thoughts... It's my state of mind on it. I have four other releases with different labels and i am really happy with it, but i wanted to do something from the ground up you know. All the artists that cooperated with the art on the tape and the label do HEAVY and STYLISH work in the streets. None of those street art vibes... I want to keep things real for the label. Akbar (@bay1010) from France did the logo, Germes Gang (@germesgang) from Portugal did the artwork of the tape and Oboe (@bomboclat1) from my area did the drawing on the package. The style is universal!
On the production aspect, this is the gear i used on all tracks: SP-12 Turbo for the drums, Akai S950 for the samples and the SP303 to do some effects recording into Ableton. The samples came from records of jazz and soul from the 70s. I am starting my collection of jazz records, so we keep digging to find some vibes. About the beats, like Guru said in the intro of "You Know My Steez" - "we have some kind of formulas, but we update on them". So i try to use the best of worlds, the old samplers and Ableton to make it sound good. Most of the time i am bumping some 90s rap, so this is the sound i like, and this is the sound i try to achieve. It won't sound real if you do a trap beat but you don't listen to trap you know?
STREET TALK ZZZ01 ABOVE.
Ashley LOFIDREAMERS: My personal favourite is "S-S-S Style" that saxophone sample and soulful vocal paints a beautiful picture in your mind. What type of emotions was you feeling when you put together that particular track?
SONO TWS: Creativity and frustration comes side by side. On one day you wake up like a king and in the other you feel like shit. I guess beat makers will understand what i am talking about! So the mood of my beats depends on the day, i try to make them all sound "spiritual". In Street Talk, i try to give a soundtrack to my memories; there are the happy times, the introspective times and the hard times... It's all about the things i live. In this particular track, it's about the STYLE, one of the major rules in hip-hop culture. In breakdancing, you got to have style. Graffiti, style. It's the Style Wars, hip-hop is all about the S-S-S Style!
Ashley LOFIDREAMERS: As well as producing Hip Hop you were involved in the Reggae scene too. Where did your love for Reggae music grow? Was it before your love for Hip Hop culture was developed?
SONO TWS: Yes, before i started doing beats i was a selector with some friends on a big sound system here in Brazil. I had a blog too called You&Me On a Jamboree focusing on old Jamaican music, like ska, rock steady and early reggae. We would do parties all night long playing only original 7's from Jamaica and it was awesome. Also i travelled to Jamaica once just to dig records and came back to Brazil with hundreds of 45rpm records, i guess it was among the most crazy stuff i have done for music. Nowadays i am more focused on the beats but i am still feeding the Jamaican music collection.
Above a snapshot of one of SONO’s all night 7inch parties!
Ashley LOFIDREAMERS: This one is for the Hardware aficionado's amongst us.....Can you give us a list of the Hardware you get freaky with????
SONO TWS: I got an EMU SP12-Turbo, Akai S950, SP303 (these three are the most i am using out of all the samplers I have). I also have a SP404 (that i use only to do some live sets), a Zoom Sampletrak and the MPC60. I don't have a studio, it's all in my bedroom, and so I don't have much space. If i need to use the MPC60 i need to turn off the SP12 and it breaks the vibe... i am looking for a place where i can put them all easily to be honest!
Ashley LOFIDREAMERS: The hardware samplers you use (EMU SP-12 TURBO, AKAI S950, ROLAND SP-303, & SP-404, MPC60) have been used on countless Hip Hop Records over the years. How do you manage to find new production techniques that were previously overlooked by Hip-Hop pioneers, or do you stick to using the equipment the same way they have always been used in Hip Hop circles??
SONO TWS: Creativity leads the way. I like these samplers because they force you to be creative. The SP12 Turbo only has 5 seconds of sample time, that's all you have. So you have to learn some techniques that the pioneers used, like the 33rpm/45rpm technique to have more sample time. In the DAW i am kind of lost because you don't have limits, you can use like 500 tracks, i wouldn’t be able to decide when i should stop! Hahaha! To me, limitations bring creativity. Even 1 second of remaining sample time is important in these samplers. Nowadays, I am still learning…there are many tricks out there that i don't know but i read a lot and i talk a lot with other beat makers that use the same machines. I also participate in forums & groups... It's all about sharing the knowledge to find what fits you best. But like i said, creativity leads the way... the important thing is to express yourself no matter what kind of gear or daw you use.
Above SONO at work on his Roland SP-404 Sampler, in his makeshift studio in Jundiai while other famous samplers sit waiting…..
Ashley LOFIDREAMERS: In the modern age even more producers than before are looking to crate digging to aid sample choices in their productions. How important is sample choice for you? Is it relative to taste in music or exploration of music?
SONO TWS: To do sample based music, you have to listen to a lot of music and that's the most incredible part of it. It makes you discover new groups, new musicians, new labels... you LEARN. Discovering new stuff is what motivates me, so you have to listen, you got to have the time to sit and listen to the records you have found. Sample choice for me is everything! It's like the spider senses of Spiderman when you hear a good break beat or a good sample! hahaha
Ashley LOFIDREAMERS: What motivates you to get in the studio to make beats Sono?
SONO TWS: I need to make beats so i don't go insane. I need to express myself, like when you are doing some Graffiti. The need of expressing motivates me. It's the time i don't think about anything besides that. I forget about bills, problems... Music to me, is the best therapy.
Ashley LOFIDREAMERS :Your favourite record ever?
SONO TWS: I can't tell you what record is my favorite because it changes a lot from time to time, but I’ve been bumping a record i got lately called: Stanley Cowell - Musa - Ancestral Streams.
Above Stanley Cowell - Musa - Ancestral Streams.
Ashley LOFIDREAMERS: What is your future plans for your label "Tired of people?"
SONO TWS: Before releasing my other beat tape on Tired Of People, i will release a split tape soon with my brother Oso Blanco on 77RiseRecordings, it's almost finished. On Tired Of People i will do some gear (t-shirt and a bag) and maybe in June i will release my other tape, i already have the artwork and the name... "We can get along".
That's it, thank you for the opportunity of expressing myself. Peace!!

2016: On The Cusp Of A Rock Awakening
OK, so we lost a lot of great musicians in 2016, and world events were unsettling to say the least. But all things considered, it was a pretty good year for music, with some older artists hitting late-inning home runs and some newer acts seemingly approaching greatness. I really get the sense that Rock is in an exciting period of transition, with so many artists both young and old willing to take risks in the search for new sounds and new approaches. I honestly believe that we are on the cusp of a new Rock awakening. Here are my selections for Top 10 Albums of 2016.
10. The Claypool Lennon Delirium – Monolith Of Phobos
youtube
People sometimes forget that Sean Lennon inherited artistic genes from his mother too, one of the most famous avant-garde musicians who ever lived. With this in mind his musical partnership with mad genius Les Claypool seems like such a perfect fit. This album won’t be everyone’s cup of tea — it’s way out there sometimes — but to me it felt fresh and wild and unique. Lennon and Claypool seem to bring out the very best in each other’s oddly twisted personalities, flavoring their distinctly original take on classic proggy sounds with wit and whimsy. Claypool’s jaw-dropping virtuosity on the bass was no surprise, but Lennon’s lambent talents on guitar and vocals certainly were, and I really hope these guys keep making music together.
9. Rolling Stones – Blue And Lonesome
youtube
This is like one of those albums that NASA would put into a Voyager satellite to introduce extraterrestrial civilizations to human culture, except in this case it landed back on Earth in 2016. The album captures — for a new generation on this planet — the electrifying intensity of those early-sixties blues and R&B recordings, recorded live and hot and off the floor. But this ain’t the 1964 Stones cheekily imitating the old bluesmen, this is a band with the chops and the savvy to actually be the old bluesmen. Sometimes Jagger sounds like an old man and sometimes he sounds like he’s 25, but either way he and his mates are as authentic as it gets, and god knows there’s a hunger for authenticity out there.
8. case / lang / veirs – case / lang / veirs
youtube
Take three fiercely independent singer-songwriters who don’t know each other very well, put them in a room and tell them to write songs together, and you’ve got a prescription not only for bruised egos but quite possibly broken bones as well. Unless of course the singer-songwriters are women, in which case you’ve got a much better chance of co-operation and a successful collaboration. k.d. lang admired the work of Neko Case and Laura Veirs and suggested the three get together and create some new songs, not as a three-point harmony trio but more like a real band where each member’s individual strengths are given a chance to shine. The end result is one of the finest collections of songs released this year, where even the production and arrangements are well-conceived and beautifully implemented. See what a little co-operation can accomplish?
7. Bon Iver – 22, A Million
youtube
Up to this point Bon Iver was widely considered a balladeer, a singer-songwriter of deeply personal, atmospheric songs who used electronica mostly as a way to process his distinctive falsetto vocals. Folk electronica, if you will. But on this, his third album, Bon Iver takes folk electronica to new horizons with beats and kinetic energy, a huge and I think welcome departure from his drony balladeer thing. The album contains some beautiful acoustic guitar, piano and horns, but it also includes tracks like “10 (Deathbreast)” which has him spitting out spoken lyrics over a driving cascade of electronic beats, sounding more like Kanye West than a folk artist. In fact, West had sought out Bon Iver’s recording expertise for one of the rapper’s earlier albums, so I guess what goes around comes around. Rock happens when different musical genres come together, and this album sounds like something new being born.
6. The Last Shadow Puppets – Everything You’ve Come To Expect
youtube
Alex Turner has talent, charisma, and a willingness to take artistic chances, a great combination for any musician. As swaggering front man for the Arctic Monkeys, Turner gained fame for his wickedly clever power pop, but as a partner in The Last Shadow Puppets he takes that wicked cleverness on a completely different tack. The Rock elements are still there, but the defining sound on this album is a standout orchestra section arranged by the brilliant Canadian violinist and producer Owen Pallett. It gives the album a very Euro feel as the band pays discreet homage to the various pop styles that make use of strings – ‘50s doo-wop, ‘60s soul, ‘70s disco, ‘80s spy movies – as well as some really original arrangements that can easily stand on their own. I don’t understand why this album wasn’t a huge hit.
5. The Tragically Hip – Man Machine Poem
youtube
With this album The Hip completes their transformation from literate, edgy roadhouse Rockers to literate, mature Rock gurus, comfortable in their wisdom yet searching for truth more rigorously than ever. After 30 years together the Hip keeps growing as a band, boldly adding new textures and instrumentation and themes and emotions to their kit bag, while at the same time keeping their kick-ass edge as sharp as it ever was. If, as seems likely, this is to be the band’s last album due to Gord Downie’s serious health issues, then by god what a way to go, and what an inspiring lesson in personal and artistic growth for the rest of us.
4. Warpaint – Heads Up
youtube
There are some pretty sophisticated Rock sensibilities at work here on the L.A. quartet’s third album. Originally an atmospheric/chill type outfit, Warpaint displays a subtle but still striking versatility on this album, skillfully and seamlessly weaving analog and electronic instrumentation together as well as anybody has ever done it. One minute bassist Jenny Lee Lindberg and drummer Stella Mozgawa are laying down big fat beats, the next minute guitarist Theresa Wayman is serving up soaring or spiky licks over an electronic bed. Emily Kokal’s plaintive lead vocals may not be the strongest, but the band’s three-point harmonies are outstanding and lay at the heart of Warpaint’s sonic signature. This is definitely a band to watch.
3. Iggy Pop – Post Pop Depression
youtube
So the story goes that Iggy Pop finally had enough of the rat race and wanted to drop out after recording one last album. Ever the showman, Iggy decides that if he’s going out, he’s going out in style, so he turns to Josh Homme for help. How could this not be a recipe for a great album? These are two Rock giants coming together. Homme, one of a handful of artists destined to carry the torch for Rock & Roll deep into the new century, brought his unique gifts of edgy songcraft together with Iggy’s brutally frank street truths, sprinkled it with a little anti-materialist populism, and helped create a bold and original statement, not just for Iggy, but I really think for the ages. Homme deserves a co-credit on the album, but he’s too generous a soul to want it. Meanwhile Iggy keeps dreaming “about getting away to a new life / where there’s not so much fucking knowledge”, and I have to admit that does sound appealing.
2. Esperanza Spalding – Emily’s D+Evolution
youtube
I’ve always subscribed to the theory that the greatest artists are the ones that push the envelope so far until they discover new territory. Well Esperanza Spalding is one brilliant artist and with this album she has found musical ground where nobody has stood before, and that is saying something. Sure, the lithe vocals, explosive bass lines and complicated jazz time signatures are all still there, but this time around she brings thundering and soaring guitars into the mix, making the album sound at times more like prog than jazz. Think Joni Mitchell meets Frank Zappa and Shuggie Otis, or maybe St. Vincent with the angular corners rounded out. On top of all this, Emily’s D+Evolution is a concept album where Spalding’s alter ego wrestles wordily with powerful thoughts on love, gender, race and class in the 21st Century. This is a dense, rich album that delivers increasing rewards with every listen.
1. David Bowie – Blackstar
youtube
There will never be another album like this one, just as sure as there will never be another David Bowie. It’s an album about Bowie’s life and about his death, and it is loaded with riches. I was never all that big on droning medieval melodies, but I now love the five minutes of it on the title track because “at the center of it all” lies the shimmering beauty of the middle section. Kudos to my colleague Jordan for pointing out the “whore” of the raucous second track is quite likely Bowie’s cancer. “Lazarus” still makes me weep sometimes because I can’t get the haunting video out of my head, but it has sure given me some insights into death that were never quite available to me before. “Sue” is cinema verite in modern jazz wrapping, while “Dollar Days” and “I Can’t Give Everything Away” are as beautiful as anything Bowie has ever made. How long will it be before this album starts showing up on greatest of all-time lists?
Honorable Mentions
Paul Simon – Stranger To Stranger Wilco – Schmilco Charles Bradley – Changes Michael Kiwanuka – Love & Hate Andrew Bird – Are You Serious Leonard Cohen – You Want It Darker Car Seat Headrest – Teens Of Denial Anderson Paak – Malibu

What are the excellent electronic mail advertising gear?
Whilst seeking out the most efficient advertising and marketing gear, content advertising and marketing and social media pass each marketer’s course. Those are a few warm portions inside the maximum Digital Marketing Company in Bath marketing techniques, however what if you are a bee on a low finances among wealthy elephants? Well, you start with the good old skool email. Why? A mckinsey & organization examine in 2014 showed that emails are forty instances more powerful in accomplishing and engaging with customers. But, it does no longer price you an arm and a leg. All you want is suitable email advertising and marketing software program and a few practise. Newsletters as one of the pleasant things in the world of advertising for the reason that sliced bread. It doesn’t rely how large or small you are, it's far ought to be a part of your commercial enterprise. 73% of marketers agree that electronic mail marketing is an important part of their virtual approach. Good old skool newsletters that we're all trying to unsubscribe from. Who would have thought so? It doesn’t be counted in case you are a novice or a guru, i guess googling for e mail advertising software doesn’t make existence easier. There are a couple of selections with one-of-a-kind features with prices ranging from unfastened to up to more than one masses of kilos a month. Some of the e-mail software companies are unknown, even as others together with mailchimp dominate google results. I don’t like to put all my eggs in a single basket. Therefore, i have examined several e-mail marketing software vendors. The time has come to share my studies with mailchimp and its options. Mailchimp: funky expert for a start
Read Also:- Some common LOGO design mistakes which you need to avoid in 2020
i was a amateur in electronic mail advertising once i commenced this paintings. Mailchimp, that candy little monkey got here into my life right when i wanted it. Design. That’s what brought me there first. Drag & drop editor is what had me hooked for some time. The entire mailchimp interface is person-pleasant, simple and professional-looking. With some clicks you may create an outstanding e-newsletter – i could sincerely experience that they put money into growing beautiful design. Mailchimp is actually a viable option if you’re a primary-time consumer or you are nevertheless getting to know how newsletters work. Mailchimp is definitely a feasible option if you’re a first-time person or you're still mastering how newsletters paintings. Especially, if you are still gaining knowledge of how newsletters paintings. However, with guidance i advanced a knack for layout and began noticing the shortage of more superior capabilities. Furthermore, a growing listing of subscribers compelled me to search for higher alternatives as calculating roi did not meet my expectancies. So i went hunting. Steady touch: greater advanced & extra complex
quite a catch. Consistent touch is like a library: it presents extra than 400 custom templates. I like their campaigns which are not restricted to newsletters. You may refine your search by using the form of facts you need to send or get: collect occasion registrations, create a chit, develop a number of facebook lovers, and many others. This is the feature i have used plenty. Detailed search no longer only affords greater suitable templates but also allows with listing available content material kinds. If you are more skilled or like to deal with things yourself, steady touch offers you with superior modifying features, education and more. Particularly if you are inclined to pay for it. So, why have i left? This large participant lacks an vital characteristic – an automatic a/b cut up testing that lets in sending out exclusive versions of e mail campaigns to look which one performs better, which changes have an impact on consequences. Plus, as i've already referred to, constant touch is like a massive library. It has so many features it'd take months to explore they all. 60 days loose trial might simply no longer be enough to check it and taste it. If you ask approximately consumer interface, changing from mailchimp doesn’t make things simpler either. Constant contact is quite complicated: many steps, even greater records gaps to fill and, to be sincere, dull design and communication. This opportunity is a higher alternative for the superior customers handling things on their own. For me, design is one of the key components. I am sorry, regular contact. Next. Verdict: regular contact in case you are more experienced. Mailerlite: a light in the dark
if steady contact is the large fish, mailerlite is my gold one. Unlike constant contact, it gives automated a/b cut up trying out. It's miles vital in case your intention is to pressure sales and entice new customers. This mailerlite feature allows you to test now not handiest email content material and challenge lines however also absolutely extraordinary electronic mail designs. That helped me comprehend that my selected design became now not the finest. Via converting it i multiplied my conversion charge via 27%. How approximately that, constant touch? What else? Mailerlite is quite just like mailchimp: both are properly-designed, smooth to use and feature similar to features. But, i have located an critical function presented simplest with the aid of mailerlite. That, my buddies, is vehicle resend. There is usually a chance a subscriber did now not open an e-mail because of critical motives. In that case, he may pass for it if you use vehicle resend feature which sends a newsletter to folks who didn’t open it. Mailerlite might not have the most important template library but that isn't an trouble due to the fact that they have got such an easy drag & drop editor. Plus, each unmarried template is cell like minded. You could use a switch button and right away see how your publication appears on mobile. Cellular preview seems like the simplest function, yet it could save you from making important content and design errors. As i continuously use pix in my newsletters certainly one of my desired functions is a built-in photo editor – no want to shift to another software. In the intervening time, mailerlite is on the pinnacle of my alternatives list. Unlike mailchimp, mailerlite gives autoresponders feature in unfastened plans. Come what may with these kinds of features they nonetheless preserve the bottom rate and have a wide selection of pricing plans that could basically in shape all people’s wishes. It absolutely fulfils mine for now. Of direction, there's continually room for development. Verdict: green light for mailerlite. Aweber: yes, no, maybe so
mailchimp alternative? Perhaps. If you are not a layout man or woman it can be a good start. Aweber offers greater than 700 mobile responsive templates, but there's no cell preview. In case your commercial enterprise requires an character design enter, aweber isn't always my recommendation. You would possibly want to do some hacking on the way to modify templates as a result. Assist is generally not my factor, but for a few it's miles a important factor when you decide. Mailchimp falls at the back of extensively as compared to aweber’s guide. Aweber gives electronic mail, chat and speak to guide eight am-8 pm every day of the week while mailchimp has no guide totally free plans and can best be reached via e-mail and chat 8 am-6 pm in paid plans. In other phrases, they may dangle you out to dry. Hassle for mailchimp, applause for aweber. Although, mailerlite provides email, chat and phone assist 24/7. Verdict: even. Emma: after i think about lovely i think of emma
i hunt for layout. That’s how i discovered emma, sweet and current email marketing software program. It gives no longer as many templates as different e mail marketing software providers however in this case it’s high-quality over amount. Except, drag & drop editor is quite much like mailchimp’s. In case you are looking for some thing even more interesting, emma offers expert custom layout services for a honest rate. Another gain is its reporting capabilities. Actual-time analytics in pretty graphs are clean on the eyes also, emma has a unsolicited mail checking device that appears for words which might be interpreted as junk mail. I like beautiful but only lovely can’t closing a lifetime. I absolutely missed an automatic a/b trying out. Any other no longer that extremely good a part of emma is the fee. For the custom layout it's far adequate as you figure with a clothier. But, a monthly plan for management gear and templates is quite luxurious. Plus, in case you are keen to start your electronic mail advertising and marketing campaign proper after signing up, you may ought to delay it as emma lets you use its services most effective after making a non-public touch. Absolutely, emma is tremendous, but mailchimp doesn’t lag at the back of with its design. Equal stands for other functions, besides for a/b testing which isn't furnished by using emma. Verdict: hm…mailchimp. E-mail advertising and marketing software is sort of a sweet – maximum of them are candy, however you get to locate your personal flavor, guy. I am achieved looking for now. But, there are plenty of different mailchimp options. It honestly has its professionals. In spite of everything, mailchimp is dominant in the marketplace for a reason. Hopefully, you may find your Digital Marketing Agencies in Bath own favorite among these alternatives. It's far more efficient to paste to at least one option and invest your time and money. Too much sugar isn’t wholesome for every person, proper?

The Spectacular Rise and Fall of WeWork
Or: Michael Learns About Hotboxing
Adam Neumann’s speech used to introduce him is predictably noxious. “Watching American television and movies I believed that the American Dream was get a degree, get a great job, have lots of fun, make lots of money… I majored in entrepreneurship and marketing.” Mm, yes.
He then starts to list some of his early failed business ventures, beginning with a company that made women’s shoes with collapsable heels. At this point, my eyes are glazing over (we’ve all heard billionaires talk about their silly little ideas they had before they became rich off of their genius idea, which in a bubble actually sounds like another silly little idea). But then Michael butts in, for some reason needing to clarify the idea, saying, “For… storage.”
I’m sorry, but what in the fuck are you talking about? Michael thinks the main drawback of high heels is that they add two inches to storage? Has Michael ever seen "American television and movies”? Has he ever been to a wedding? This is why we keep coming back for Barbaro. He has no discernible life outside of the podcast. It is debatable whether he has ever actually walked on the streets of the city in which he lives (see: noting the smell of marijuana in Washington Square Park in the Warren episode). It’s as though he was pulled from a husk like a Sam Rockwell clone in Moon and taught only enough to be the quintessence of a podcast host. We love Barbaro for this. And Barbaro knows it; that’s why he leaves it in when Amy Chozick gawks at his high heel guess. Move on.
We hear the now-familiar (and equally noxious) story of WeWork: the excesses, the self-dealing, the guru persona of Neumann. The main take away is that all the major investors in the company are absolute dumbasses. Masa, the head of Saudi-funded Softbank, says he invested $20 million into Alibaba because the CEO’s “eyes were strong.” This business-chic spiritualism is incredibly annoying and obviously full of shit, and Adam Neumann is the logical end to this practice. Though, I guess he walked away with a billion dollar severance package, so maybe we should all strive to look like neanderthal Jesus.
Episode Rating: 4.5/5. Fun story with no moral; this will just keep happening until the revolution. Michael at his finest, asking about hotboxing on jets is an all-time moment
Today’s Michael brought to you by: UBER! Arguably the most insane ad placement I’ve heard on The Daily, as Uber is, has been, and will be a very similar story to WeWork. And Michael just recently did a “rise and fall of [tech company]” episode on Uber! The only thing this placement does is draw the obvious comparison between the story we’re being told and Uber. Stunning.
Biggest story in the US? No, but this type of story that makes you think “I’m not an economist but how in the fuck is this market sustainable?” is definitely… informing.
Biggest story in the world? I dunno, what about Hong Kong? Who knows. It’s not this.

Hex and Hide
Pairing: J.So (I think???) with a hint of ninja Bwoo Word Count: didn’t check sorry Summary: Inspired by a tweet. Do I regret this.. not yet.
Hello I’m still here :P I’ve wrote SO many unfinished drabbles over the past year that I am ashamed of myself. Somin (KARD) has been my muse of late and I’ve enjoyed writing a ton of crackships involving her and a random storyline - most which is probably never see the light of the internet.
This particular fic(?)/drabble (???? IDK) was inspired from a tweet by user sorrisomin and written in two hours when I had a break at work (adulting at its finest). I love KARD and I love Hogwarts so I did a thing I may regret. I also used the OP’s ideas on which house members would belong to. Now, whilst I don’t agree on that sorting entirely, I decided to go with it because I considered it interesting and challenging. I may have made a wrong choice but who knows.
Anyways, apologies for this long note - onwards to the mess of words!
(Oh and the title and my writing is a WIP - as always ~)
The old train whirred in to action as it slowly began chugging itself and its travellers out of the hidden platform. Somin lay back on her seat once her parents were out of sight and let out a breath she didn’t know she was holding. She was now a fourth year student and her parents were, if possible, much more controlling and aggressive about her future than before. Having had another row over dinner last night regarding her prospects for the future, Somin felt her heart strangely heavier than usual as she headed to the one place she usually felt free.
Usually.
Now going back there seemed more burdensome than ever. Returning as a third year signified another year closer to graduation... another year of her parents nagging for her to make up her mind and join her in the ministry.
And it’s only going to get worse. She thought to herself.
Jiwoo let out a dramatic sigh, an accurate imitation Somin. This was enough to bring her out of her thoughts and look at her friend sat opposite her, her hair a bright pink and roots showing some yellow.
Jiwoo was someone she’d known since her first year, having shared the carriage together. The two girls got on straight away and Somin hadn’t met anyone with who she clicked almost instantaneously. So it came as both a surprise and sad reality when they were sorted in to separate houses: she a Slytherin (‘Of course! Would you expect anything different?’ Her dad had proudly exclaimed) and Jiwoo a Ravenclaw. But that wasn’t going to stop her. She made every effort possible to make sure Jiwoo and her stayed friends – much to the displeasure of her parents. Despite their constant voiced disapproval of Jiwoo, they eventually gave up knowing Somin’s stubbornness. ‘At least she’s not a Hufflepuff – or worse, Gryffindor.’, were her Dad’s words, whispering the final word as if it was jinxed. Somin just rolled her eyes, biting back her comments. She loved her parents despite their short comings but they had a tendency to be a tad dramatic.
“Can’t you just ignore your parents? You won’t be seeing them till Christmas – and that’s optional too!” Jiwoo reasoned with her.
“I guess you’re right,” Somin began, “But they’re right too – and that’s what’s worrying.”
Her brow creased in thought and she opened her mouth to say something, at the exact same time their carriage door burst open.
Bounced in a frustratingly familiar boy followed by his much bigger built friend. Somin felt a migraine come on as her brow creased further, this time out of annoyance.
“Aw! Is the princess worried about something? Is your allowance cut – do you only get a few hundred every week now.” The shorter of the two slid besides Jiwoo, shuffling her out of her seat so that he now sat directly opposite Somin. He had his voice sickly sweet as he made baby faces at her.
“Get out Taehyung – now!” Somin got up and pointed to the door, which was currently blocked as Matt stood leaning in the doorway, huge grin lighting up his features.
“You can’t tell me what to do!” He stood up, highlighting the significant difference between their heights. This did not intimate Somin as she refused to not back down, meeting his gaze squarely. “Last time I checked – your dad doesn’t own the train. Unless he’s bought you this exclusive carriage, I have as much rights to be here as you.” He smiled at her and cocked his head as if challenging her.
“You really like testing your luck, don’t you?” Somin breathed her voice dangerously low.
Taehyung visibly gulped and turned back to Jiwoo. Swinging an arm over her shoulder, “I’m only here to see my friend.” He emphasised. “I’ve not seen you all summer! How have you been?”
Jiwoo gave a bored sigh and shrugged his arm off her, “Give up, we all know why you’re really here.” She gave him a long hard look which met with well-practised confusion. When nobody was buying he gave in.
“Fine! You got me.” He raised his hands in defeat. “Matt wanted to see you!”
Somin sharply turned to face the taller of the two, her eyes narrowed as if daring him to make a move on her friend. Matt on the other hand looked equally surprised as Jiwoo, the tips of his ears drastically going from a pale pink to a deep red. He grabbed his friend by the hoodie and dragged him out.
“See you later princess!” Taehyung cackled on his way out and Somin gladly shut the door behind them.
“I can’t believe him! How can you stand being around them?” Jiwoo shrugged as she busied herself with her straitening her numerous bracelets, head low hoping Somin wouldn’t catch her blush.
Somin took a deep breath, trying to ease away her migraine.
Taehyung and Matt were in Gryffindor and Hufflepuff respectively, and the former seemed to have taken it an obliged duty to make Somin’s school life as difficult as he possibly could. If there was one thing he put his all in, it was to see how much he could rile her up and leave with all his body parts intact – as some sort of personal extreme sport.
Matt on the other hand was mostly harmless, albeit equally, if not more, louder than Taehyung at times. Given his huge height and well-toned built, the biggest surprise was the fact he was in Hufflepuff and, despite his intimidating appearance, he was somehow given title of the year’s official unofficial guru offering advice from everything about school work to dating.
The fact both of them were close to Jiwoo meant that Somin had the displeasure of also knowing them and since first year they – or rather Taehyung – had not let her have a single peaceful breath. The fact he was Gryffindor just made it worse.
The lines which separated the houses had long been blurred but she stood with the view that a majority of Slytherins shared – keep your own close. The rest are useless unless time proves otherwise. She felt herself naturally on edge every time he was close, her inner instinct telling her to hex or hide – and she was not a hider.
The rest of their journey went peacefully, much to Somin’s pleasure. The girls had idle chatter, Jiwoo tactfully avoiding talking about Somin’s parents and told her instead all about Muggle inventions from her mum’s side that always fascinated her. Midway having their treats from the trolley Matt had come again, thankfully without his plus one. Somin ignored his presence as she unwrapped her powdered muffin.
“Hey, I just wanted to say sorry for Taehyung.” He scratched the back of his head apologetically and he smiled as Jiwoo. “You know he can be...” He vaguely waved his arms around as if that was a good enough substitution for a word.
Jiwoo waved her hand as him as she chewed on some fudge, “Don’t worry - want one?” She offered him a flavoured bean.
“No way, my luck is terrible with those!” He backed away laughing, “Besides the only reason Tae’s not here is ‘cos he left for the loo. I better get back before he starts looking for me.”
“Oh, okay.” Jiwoo said and Somin picked up on the change of tone almost immediately.
“See you around Jiwoo – and Somin!” He added as an afterthought as he waved.
Somin didn’t bother waving back, her gaze fixed on her friend. Jiwoo stared at where Matt had stood for a moment before returning to her sweets. Somin opened her mouth to say something before thinking better of it: if Jiwoo had something to tell her, she’d rather wait for when she’s ready.
A few chocolate frogs later, she turned her Wizard card to read the back before it got snatched out of her hand.
“Oh you got Ron Weasley!” Somin looked to see Taehyung for the second time.
She looked behind to see the carriage door wide open – Matt didn’t close it on his way out.
“Give that back.” She held out her palm, refusing to him the satisfaction of a fight.
“Why would you want this card? He’s a Gryffindor and last time I checked,” he bent slightly so he face was close to hers, “you don’t like Gryffindors.” His voice was low, sending shivers up her spine. It took all her restraint and control to not reach for her wand and jinx his face right there.
She made to get the card but he was too quick, holding it over his head. After a futile few jumps which only made him laugh harder, she kicked his shin– soft enough to not leave any marks but hard enough to let him know she was not playing. He doubled over, letting out a dramatic and pained grunt. As he fell back on the seats and feigned injury Somin tried to get the card off him but his grip was too strong and she was worried the card would tear.
“I only came to see if Matt was here but instead I’m fighting for my life. Oh! The pain! Jiwoo, call someone, save me from this monster.”
Jiwoo looked up at them from her magazine, seemingly have only realised their fight. She looked from Somin to Taehyung and back to Somin, her expression bored. Really, Somin? Again?
Somin pointed at him accusingly, “He started it! He took my card!” Somin said reading her friends mind.
Taehyung jumped up, “What card?” He had his empty palms raised – empty.
Somin looked around frantically. Taehyung grinned as he watched her panic and Jiwoo returned to her reading.
“Where is it?!” She grabbed his collars, as if hoping shaking him would reveal the card.
“Whoa, you’re too forward. I’m shy in front of others.” His smile was coy and Somin let go instantly, not attempting to mask her disgust.
“See you around.” He winked before he left and Somin fell to her seat, defeated.
“What was it he took?” Jiwoo asked as she turned a page.
“My Ron card.” Somin whispered, her voice laced with sadness.
