Pinky Promise AU
Summary: Kotoha Lives AU! This is called the Pinky Promise AU. In a oneshot I wrote called “Pinky Promise,” Kotoha managed to escape Douma’s cult and live in a Wisteria House with an older woman named Himari. Shinjuro and a group of demon slayers stay one night a month later and Kotoha is given a final push to become a demon slayer and, eventually, a Pillar. You can just refer to this summary or feel free to look up “pinky promise au” tag on my blog(Lowkey scared to link it as ya’know posts with links tend to not show up in tags)
Also if you are not fully caught up on the manga DO NOT PRESS ON unless you don’t mind spoilers!!
-Kotoha spends five years training in an undetermined breath at first, however, she finds it hard and wants something to fit her own feelings, so she makes her own breath style; Bell Breathing
-Inspired by the one-hundred and eight rings of the nearby Buddist bell on New Years Eve, she decides to make the style. She wants to inspire people like bells do, with a balanced form set and sweet, comforting sounds
-Kotoha took to the bell motif seriously, even making a bracelet of small suzu bells and wearing it around her dominant wrist. The balls inside that make the bells ring are removable, making stealth missions easier
-Kotoha’s Nichirin Blade is colored a sort of pastel shade of yellow, and has aesthetic-only empty bell shells tied with a red ribbon on the end of the hilt. The guard is bell-shaped, naturally.
-Her blade forager was in fact Haganezuka, being one of the few people who stuck around even with his more rather… extreme personality. She’s one of his first clients, and they have a fairly close friendship-- she always has mitarashi dango for him when he visits or when she visits. She hasn’t broken her blade thus far
-Her uniform is the usual one but with a under-the-knee-length skirt like Kanao’s. She wears yellow tabi with zori underneath. She has a dark blue haori with yellow/white suzu bell designs all over it. She also wears her hair in a tight bun with a comb kinzashi with purple flowers and blue ribbon--she considers it a good luck charm. She also wears a bird masquerade mask and a cloth to wrap her hair in to cover her identity when on slaying missions, because,
-Kotoha is mainly into undercover and stealth missions due to her flexibility and natural beauty, making her fit in just about anywhere. She wears a kimono and more plain haori when out on such missions. No one suspects such a beautiful and gentle woman!
-Inosuke loves the sound of bells while growing up ‘cause they remind him heavily of his mother. He starts collecting various bells at the age of seven, keeping them in his room in the Hashibira Estate. Tanjiro finds this sweet while Zenitsu laughs at him for being so rough yet has such a soft hobby. Inosuke might’ve whacked him a couple times because of this
-Kotoha is a mother first, demon slayer second. Never changes, even after she becomes a Pillar
-Speaking of which, it only takes her up to a year to become a Pillar. She kept on insisting to take jobs, so her demon count rose very quickly. She also mastered Total Concentration within weeks with Himari and her mentor’s help
-Her and Inosuke have a very very close familial bond. They tell each other almost everything with no hesitance and do many things together. They might have one argument every few months, but it’s usually over something silly and it’s resolved quickly
-Hell, Kotoha even offered to teach him Bell Breathing but he refused, having already started to develop his own technique (which would be obviously Beast Breathing)
-Kotoha is without a doubt one of if not the first Pillar to trust Nezuko. She trusts her son unwaveringly with every vein in her body, and if he trusts her, then she does too
-Because of her Pillar status, her Estate is close to the Butterfly Estate and she has a close relationship with the Kocho sisters. She cares a lot for them, and mothered them a lot, seeing them also as daughters she never had
-She also has a close relationship with the Rengoku family, Shinjuro being an older brother to her and Ruka like a sister, and Kyojuro and Senjuro being nephews. Though they also saw her a second mother on occasion. Shinjuro helps Kotoha get used to being a Pillar and gave her advice before his wife’s death and subsequent alcoholism. Their relationship becomes strained after this, for obvious reasons
-On a lighter note, this means Inosuke is much closer to Kyojuro and Senjuro, having grown up with them, he sees them as brothers--making Kyojuro’s death a little more harder :)
-Speaking upon Inosuke, Inosuke has his original personality and abilities intact, but with more… class?
-He still likes to be competitive and has a stupidly high temper, but he’s also not constantly headbutting people and has slight more consideration of others. Also doesn’t have his boar head, and wears the normal demon slaying uniform (though has a habit of discarding the upper layer, and usually doesn’t wear a haori unless it’s winter). Still dumb as rocks though
-He also still prefers his swords chipped, but his original swords being chipped was from training too much with normal swords and found that when they’re chipped they cut better to him (plus lets be real he likes how they look) When he deliberately chips his new ones Kotoha does scold him for it for disrespecting his sword and sword maker, though admittedly found it just a tiny bit amusing
-He also adored animals as a child, finding boars especially to be really cool and studied their movements a lot along with other animals, which influenced him in many, many ways
-Inosuke can’t help but perhaps sometimes feel a little inferior compared to his mother. Don’t get me wrong, he loves her with every goddamn breath and won’t hesitate to tell her, but sometimes he feels he can’t match her skill. Kotoha tries to treat him equally but sometimes her constant mothering and protectiveness can be grating
-Kotoha holds a heavy grudge against Douma for basically fucking with her, and it only grows deeper after Kanae’s death. She’s in on Shinobu’s poisoning plan, and while she’s against it she knows she can’t stop Shinobu. Makes Shinobu’s death hard on Kotoha because she knows she should’ve been more assertive, but also knows it was what Shinobu wanted
-Inosuke still has a tight platonic bond with Shinobu, though he sees her more of a sister than a mother for obvious reasons. He also has a soft spot for Kanao, and while she’s older than him he still treats her like a little sister anyway. He was probably the first person she met around her age after being adopted into the Kocho family. Inosuke wasn’t too close to Kanae, but was also saddened and angry after her passing by a demon’s hands
-Inosuke is also on pretty decent terms with the little sister trio (they like to play with his hair, he lets them while he eats usually), though has a sort of tough relationship with Aoi since they both tend to clash heads. A bit of a crumb for you AoIno(?) shippers, but the two are on decently friendly terms, finding each other tolerable enough, they’re just both stubborn
-Kotoha also never tells Inosuke, at least not at first, why they lived in a Wisteria House and why Himari wasn’t his real grandma despite thinking she was. She fears it might bring him trauma or nightmares, big plus she doesn’t want him going after Douma
-It was a slight bit of a hassle for Inosuke to make his mother agree to making him a demon slayer too; she was obviously worried for his safety, but eventually wore down, but made him promise he try to be as careful as possible. This is obviously not followed through for many reasons, but we already know them so I won’t go into too much detail
-Treats pretty much almost everyone younger than her like her children in some way, shape, or form. She’s a heavy mother figure to everyone and wears this with pride (even if she sometimes doesn’t realize it)
-In fact, Zenitsu, Kyojuro, and Mitsuri are big offenders on accidentally calling her mom. It’s less accidental for Kyojuro as he knows he sees her as a mother and has been doing it ever since they met (‘cause children do that, it’s just grown to be a habit at this point, and plus Ruka never minded so it doesn’t bother him) though he’s more likely to call her “Aunt Koto” around others by now
-She’s close to Mitsuri and they sometimes swap feminine advice and cook together, and Mitsuri isn’t as embarrassed by calling her mom now than she was the first time she did. They have a tight bond and Kotoha sees her as the daughter she never had, exchanging secrets as well
-Zenitsu has an unclear past, so I hc that his parents were probably neglectful or died by the time of his debt. So, Kotoha becomes the mother figure he hasn’t had/never had in a long time. He def didn’t realize it at first and became heavily flustered and mortified. Kotoha found it adorable. Inosuke isn’t a big fan of this btw aksjasj but he tolerates it a little more as time goes on
-Zenitsu has had such a big helping of respect women juice because of Kotoha that he is less flirtatious and weird about girls, though his love for Nezuko doesn’t waver in the slightest
-Tanjiro also sees her as a mother, heavily reminding him of his own mother in fact. He respects her a lot, and even has platonic affection for her, especially after she so quickly accepts Nezuko despite her hate against demons
-She smells like freshly baked bread and flowers, and has a calming presence. She has a sweet sound to her, like suzu bells, as Zenitsu puts it
-Also she teaches Tanjiro how to properly take care of Nezuko’s hair and the like so Nezuko’s hair isn’t always a rat’s nest when they come back to the Estates
-Nezuko, speaking of, like Tamayo sees Kotoha as her own mother. Thus, Nezuko always feels calm around her and lets her wash her clothes and brush her hair
-Sanemi and Genya have subconscious drawings towards her, as the pattern keeps going, they see a lot of their own mom in her. While neither of them have called her mom ‘cause it’s painful to even think about, there’s no doubt they’ve had fleeting thoughts about her being a mom to them
-Muichiro also subconsciously sees her as a mother, with his memories gone he has no qualms about it but he doesn’t let it slip out loud. Likes it when she brushes his hair though. After his memories begin to return he doesn’t regret thinking of her as a mother
-Giyuu doesn’t have many maternal feelings, finding her protective nature to be a bit overwhelming, however he doesn’t hate her. In fact, Kotoha doesn’t hate him at all and loves him a lot. I think maybe he might see his sister in her a little actually
-Uzui has zero maternal feelings towards her as well, in fact he probably flirted with her a little. Nothing huge or meaningful, just harmless, it’s who he is. She never really realized it anyway, seeing him as just being nice, and cared enough but not enough to see him as a son. Saw her techniques as flamboyant, of course, and she was saddened by his departure from the Pillars
-Obanai feels a little… indifferent? Towards her? Like, he doesn’t hate her, but I don’t think he’d quite see her as a mother figure either. He does admire her drive though, and she cares about him enough to make them good partners in combat if need be
-Gyomei doesn’t have maternal feelings towards her either, since they’re extremely close in age, same for Kotoha. But he still does also admire her, tbh I can see them being more like just good friends and confidants. Being the two oldest Pillars they have much in common
-Kotoha and Ubuyashiki have a typical follower/leader relationship, considering he’s much younger than her she doesn’t see him as a father figure, but she does admire him a lot and is extremely loyal to him. She also finds his kids to be adorable and is friendly with his wife (Edit: I realize Kotoha most likely met him when he was 13-14, so yeah, def doesn’t see him as a father figure or anything. Probably thought he was adorable too aksjaksj)
-You want to face off both mother and son? Don’t.
-Seriously, don’t.
-You’ll regret it.
-See, they’re both ferociously protective of each other, and bounce off each other so well it’s fuckin bonkers! They go hand-in-hand, easily matching their breaths and everything. They’re like a machine together in battle. When they’re on their own they do well but when they’re together they do exceptionally. It’s both amazing and downright terrifying
-Need advice? Need a shoulder to cry on? Kotoha has your back
-Also, at least once a month all Pillars and any visiting demon slayers are invited to a feast at Kotoha’s, cooked by the woman herself and occasionally with the help of Mitsuri and Shinobu. The Ubuyashiki’s are always invited, but they never really make it. It’s still one night without any worry, just bonding time and fun, and that’s what matters
-Mother and son constantly write each other letters when apart, no matter how many miles are in between them, and give them to their crow to deliver. If one party doesn’t reply after the given time, the other is instantly going to look for them no matter what
-Also, I hc that Inosuke has ADHD and social anxiety. Kotoha is very patient with him and helps him through the daily struggles they bring, and he’s so grateful for this.
-While I don’t have any ships in mind for this au (except perhaps KanTan and ZenNezu, maybe AoIno if you squint), if anyone wants to take this au and mold it to their own ship (within reason--if I find you use this au to ship pedo/incest I will find you) I give you full permission. However, if you find yourself shipping Kotoha with anyone, I would like to note that she has a few walls put up due to the abuse she suffered, and it isn’t too easy for her to fall in love
Bell Breathing and it’s Techniques/Forms
-Bell Breathing involves a lot of speed, along with agility and grace. Kotoha became more flexible and obviously more quicker, along with some muscle. It involves many parries, quick strikes and counters.
-Kotoha developed this with her newly gained strength and her natural swiftness in mind, along with her warm personality
-There are currently six forms, three mainly defense and three offense.
-First Form: Voided Ringing- The user steps out of range of an attack before replacing it with their sword, slashing in an upwards motion at whatever the enemy was about to attack with
-Second Form: Suzu Dance- The user advances on their opponent slashing their blade in swift, shallow motions, aiming mainly for the arms
-Third Form: Crotal Advance- The user blocks their entire body with their blade, using all their strength, and then they twist the blade to slash whatever is attacking them
-Fourth Form: Chiming Deflection- The user deflects attacks in a circular motion with quick succession
-Fifth Form: Quiet Ringing in Winter- Much like Blessed Rain after the Drought, this move is used when an enemy surrenders, making it a swift and painless death, making a soft sound like jingle bells during Christmas--or, rather, like suzu bells during a Kagura dance
-Sixth Form: The Death Bell Tolls- The user goes as fast as possible, quite like they’re dancing around their opponent and then strike from the air, going straight for the neck in one swift round motion, making a sound like the ringing of a bell
Extra: I made Bell Breathing without one breath in mind as I researched different sword techniques and looked at all the breathing styles, and while I’ve been leaning towards Wind, Thunder/Sound or Water, but if anyone has an idea I’m open to hearing it
#kny#kimetsu no yaiba#demon slayer#kotoha hashibira#inosuke hashibira#pinky promise au#kotoha lives au#gonna repeat myself i refuse to believe kotoha kept her husband's last name much less gave it to her son#so her last name is hashibira#kny spoilers#kotoha becomes a pillar weehee#i am no expert on making breathing styles which is why i studied each one + irl sword techniques closely before thinking on bell breathing#so sorry if there seems to be any weird overlapping#i had TOO much fun making this au i really want to write more for it actually#sorry it's super long too but i like. i just had to get EVERY thought out

What Is Moxibustion: The Simple Art Of Herbal Healing
Moxibustion therapy is an ancient Chinese practice used for thousands of years to treat various ailments. It is also known as Moxan or red moxa. The procedure involves burning dried mugwort leaves on specific acupuncture points to provide relief from pain, aches, and other conditions. It has been increasingly adopted to treat a wide range of diseases and conditions.
This ancient practice dates back to the Han Dynasty when Buddist monks used herbs to treat illnesses. It is a form of alternative medicine in which special herbs are burned and then applied to acupuncture points to stimulate healing and immunity in the body. The burning of herbs activates their pharmacological constituents, which then travel to the affected parts of the body to treat various health issues. Moxibustion combined with an acupuncture treatment can increase its effectiveness when used together. It is commonly used to relieve pain due to injury or arthritis, specifically in cold patterns where the pain naturally feels better with the application of heat.
Benefits of Moxibustion
1. Boost the Immune System
It activates the body’s natural defense mechanisms, increasing the production of cells that fight off infections and tumors. This helps promote a healthy, balanced immune system.
2. Reduces Pain
The herb-induced burning sensation caused by this therapy stimulates the brain’s sensory system, eliciting an analgesic effect that relieves pain. This is why many people find it more effective than painkillers.
3. Alleviates Anxiety
Like acupuncture, this treatment also has a calming effect that reduces anxiety. This is because it interacts with the same receptors that respond to opiates, which are known to have anti-anxiety properties.
4. Improves Circulation
It also promotes the flow of blood to the body’s tissues which is helpful for recovery after surgery or injury.
5. Boosts Metabolism
It helps boost metabolism, helping the body burn fats more efficiently. This is because it causes the release of endorphins, natural painkillers that also increase metabolism.
6. Lowers Cholesterol Levels
Like acupuncture, it also can lower cholesterol levels in the blood. Some studies have found that it can lower cholesterol by up to 27%.
7. Regulates Menstrual Cycle
It can also regulate the menstrual cycle because it stimulates the body’s natural healing mechanism, helping the body recover faster.
8. Turn breech babies to regular position
According to the University Midwifery Associates, some studies claim this therapy’s effectiveness in turning breech babies into regular head-down positions successfully. However, there is currently insufficient scientific research to support these claims. Consulting a doctor should be best before undergoing this treatment.
How to Practice Moxibustion
There are three ways that this therapy can be applied:
1. Direct Moxibustion
This is when the moxa cone is directly touching the skin’s surface, which targets the treatment point. Moxa cone will be lit, leaving it slowly burning, and soon removed when the skin turns red and once the heat is felt. This should be done only by a professional to avoid any burns or scarring since it should not be left in place for too long.
2. Indirect Moxibustion
This is more commonly practiced since it is considered safer than the direct alternative. Instead of leaving it directly in the skin, the professional will be holding the burning moxa stick about an inch above the specific treatment area. They will remove it once said area turns red or warm is felt.
3. Other Methods
Other methods of applying Moxibustion indirectly are such as the following:
If done or combined with acupuncture treatment, the moxa will be placed on top of the acupuncture needle, leaving it to burn until it’s extinguished. By doing so, the heat will travel through the needle to the acupuncture point.
An insulating layer can also be placed in between the moxa cone or the skin. A layer of salt, ginger, garlic, or a moxa box can be placed on the body so that the moxa cone will not touch the skin directly.
Tiny threads of moxa lit using an incense stick can also be used, typically with an ointment or cream to separate it from the skin.
Moxa can be rolled into a stick or compressed into a pole where one end of it can be burned and is waved over the skin. Moxa sticks can either be smoky or non-smoky.
Moxa can be produced into a liquid form which can be spread over a specific area of the skin which will then be placed under a heat lamp to get the warming effect. This is preferred, especially when one doesn’t like the burning sage smell of a moxa.
Takeaway
Moxibustion is a form of alternative medicine that uses herbs to activate the body’s natural defense mechanism and promote immunity. It is an effective treatment for pain, anxiety, and blood pressure, and it can even regulate a woman’s menstrual cycle. This therapy is an alternative to modern medicine and is safe if it is done under health care supervision and performed by a professional.

Yuca’s Backstory
Just spent time writing out my OC’s character so just gonna leave it here. Prolly gonna edit later...any way it’s long so it’ll be under the cut:
-Half-Saiyan -29 yrs old -Female -Personality: calm, calculating, but with a bit of dry humor -Occupation: Detective Consultant and eventually Martial Artist -From the DBFighterZ universe (Xenoverse is an ‘AU’ of sorts)
Long Ass Backstory (sorry): Yuca is the half-saiyan daughter of Paragus. In this world Paragus was on Earth a year or so before the first Broly movie in order to keep tabs on Vegeta/Goku's power. Parts of the jewelry that contained Broly's rage needed perfecting so Paragus manages to lock his son in a stasis chamber until adjustments are made. This is a difficult thing, keeping Broly 'asleep,' but the soldier's on the ship are guarding him 24/7. Continuously administering fluids to keep the Legendary Super Saiyan comatose. It is on Earth that Paragus meets the woman who ends up being Yuca's mother. I have yet to finish the story between Paragus and Yuca's mom but the idea is that the mother is a very cruel/cunning scientist. She basically wants a kid with Paragus as an 'experiment' of sorts. When Paragus finds out that this Earth woman is pregnant he panics and creates a bracelet to contain this new child's power, just in case. The saiyan's paranoia gets to him as he then locks away Yuca's mother on the ship during the whole pregnancy. This is done for two reasons: one being that he can't have the Zwarriors sensing the power of a saiyan child (thus exposing Paragus is on Earth) and two, Paragus wants to monitor the pregnancy. Once Yuca is born, strangely enough....she doesn't cry. She is a calm baby, almost eerily so but this does not deter Paragus from putting the power locking bracelet on her (like he does with Broly). The material of this device is a stronger variant of Vegeta's armor, in that it can stretch to fit Yuca as she gets older. However, nothing on earth (save for the Zwarriors) can break this bracelet. So for most of Yuca's life her power is subdued tremendously and even makes her a bit sick if she tries to fight. Now, the events of the first Broly movie take place. Paragus leaves Yuca on earth saying he will come back to recruit her in his army (but he does not). Yuca's mother is deeply affected by her imprisonment on Paragus's ship during her pregnancy. While the mother had scientific/selfish intentions for Yuca, she becomes disturbed and sickened by the child. Yuca's mother then leaves her with her grandparents......the mother isn't seen again. On the bright side of all this, Yuca has a happy childhood with her grandparents. They're good people who run a humble buddist temple in the mountains. Yuca becomes enamored with fighting, obsessively watching World Martial Arts Tournaments on TV, but due to the bracelet she cannot fulfill her passion. For many years, the humble family think it's because Yuca has anemia (or something along those lines), but the doctor's cannot quite explain it. Instead of fighting, Yuca dedicates time nearly every day (since she was a child) to image training. Image training being that she meditates/imagines herself learning new techniques and fighting. She reads up on different fighting moves and even talks to other martial arts masters just so that she can observe their classes to learn. While Yuca cannot yet become a fighter, she does have a secondary passion: solving puzzles. Due to her 'poor health' she cannot officially become a detective but she does work as a consultant for several police stations/districts. However...she is at a crossroads. Eventually after her grandparents die and she turns 29 years old, Yuca moves away from the temple (giving it to one of the monks who apprenticed there) and into a cruddy apartment. After all, she's only a 'consultant' and also needs to work temp jobs just to make rent. It'd've been too painful to stay where her beloved family was so even in this shotty building, Yuca at least has some distance from everything. This is all right before the events of DBFighterZ. You see, my thought is that Android21 (like Gero) went looking for people who seemed like they had no family-no prospects for her experiemnts. Yuca is one of many who is taken for this 'soul linking' test. Due to Yuca dedicating nearly her LIFE to meditation/image training, this is why her soul (out of all the other candidates) manages to link. Annnnnnnd the events of DBFighterZ happen. To summarize what occurs after the game: essentially as a 'gift' of sorts, android16 leaves a note to Yuca that during tests they found out that her bracelet was sealing away her 'ki.' With Android21's strength, she broke the device before putting Yuca into the linking machine. It is then that Yuca FEELS her true power for the first time ever and becomes excited....but also confused. She had tried many years to find her mother and to take off the bracelet but to no avail. There was a mystery at hand, but before that.....she had to learn to control these abilities. Yuca tracks down Bulma (as she is a very famous person and thus Yuca can find out where she lives) to find the other Zwarriors annnnd fun stuff ensues :3 yeeeeeeaaah...super long description, but meh i just wanted it written down SOMEWHERE. none of you have to read it but if you do, then KUDOS mah bro.

Attain Inner Peace by Travelling to these Buddhist Monasteries in India with IRCTCBuddhistTrain.com
The Buddha once said that the cessation of suffering began with understanding the cause and its origins and then following the path to its end. And to overcome this suffering, one had to follow the Eight Fold Path of — right speech, conduct, livelihood, effort, mindfulness, and Samadhi. This forms the basis of Buddhism culture and history.
For those who are seeking the meaning of life and want to go on a breathtaking journey of spiritual discovery and self-realization, visiting beautiful Buddhist monasteries through a Buddhist Circuit tour is a must. From partaking in guided meditations to spending time with Tibetan monks, IRCTC Buddhist Train takes devout followers of Buddhism to some of the top Buddhist structures in India. If you’ve ever wanted to delve deep into Buddhism culture and history — now is the time.
Venuvana Monastery
Venuvana Monastery was the very first Buddhist monastery to be donated by King Bimbisara after the first year of Buddha attaining His enlightenment. The monastery is popular for its Japanese Buddha Temple which is situated at the back with beautifully landscaped gardens. An excursion through the monastery is a calming experience and there is a lake by the park where monks meditate.
Jetavana Monastery
Located outside the city of Savatthi, Jetavana is one of the most renowned Buddhist monasteries in India. There is a Jetavana Grove which is among the major destinations of Buddhism. It is believed that Buddha performed a myriad of miracles and spent His time at this site actively tutoring his disciplines. The grove, along with the monastery, was gifted to the Buddha by a wealthy merchant and was rediscovered by Sir Alexander Cunningham after the rise and fall of Buddhism in the northern regions of India. The Burmese Buddhist Temple, Thai Buddhist Temple, and Myanmar Buddist Monastery are some of the other pilgrimage sites Buddhists visit during their journey to this monastery.
Nalanda Monastery
Nalanda is an ancient Buddha’s monastery built during the reign of the kingdom of Magadha in Bihar, India. Nalanda University was a center of learning and the museum is a site that houses many culturally-rich relics of the past. The monastery offers a calm and peaceful environment for studying the teachings of Buddhism and people from all walks of life come here for a trip. The Buddhist monastery is open to visitors on Sundays between 14:00 to 18:00.
Thai Monastery
The Thai Monastery is famous for its 10-day meditation retreats amongst followers across the globe. The grand architecture and sloping roofs designed with golden tiles are what make this monastery stand out from the rest. A 25-meter tall bronze statue of Lord Buddha is housed within the building and there is a lot of history attached to it. The Monarch of Thailand had built this monastery in the year 1956 and it is also considered to be the only Thai temple in India. Beautiful carvings of Buddha along with paintings and stunning imagery are housed inside the building. For any serious follower of Buddhism, it is a must-visit.
Visiting a Buddhist monastery is unlike any experience. You learn about the life of Tibetan monks and get an opportunity to immerse yourself in the philosophy and livelihood of Buddhism. There are many more Buddhist monasteries in India like the ones above and the finest way to delve into the life of Buddha is by visiting them. Our carefully crafted travel itineraries leave no corners untouched and take the time to explore these monumental landmarks.
If you are looking for a complete journey into Buddhism and want to experience the history and culture, then traveling onboard the IRCTC Buddhist Circuit Tourist Train is a fantastic way to do that.

Often presented as a magic fix all, even in a discipline that declares that you should be highly suspicious of anything that presents as a "magic fix all".
Psychology struggles to be considered valid, and as one of "the sciences". If you decide to major in psychology you will be able to take multiple classes on how to tell bullshit articles from articles that are actually scientific, and peer reviewed. One of the more commonly repeated tips is to be at least wary of anything that presents as a "fix all". Ex. "Try this easy five step program to cure your insomnia and depression!" "Got anxiety? Depression? Insomnia? Narcolepsy? We've got you covered!" - shit like that. If it sounds too good/easy to be true it probably is.
Mindfulness is all the rage in psychology right now - other areas/places too, but that's not the point of this blog. Mindfulness based practices are being implemented to treat anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, personality disorders, and eating disorders. Now you may have noticed that this list covers pretty much every type of disorder you can have. I don't think mindfulness is being used to treat schizophrenic disorders, at least not yet. But it's also being used by therapists across the spectrum of disciplines: psychoanalytic, behavioral, cognitive, cognitive behavioral, etc. And in a wide variety of situations: clinical, one-on-one, group, in-patient, out-patient.
Hopefully by now you can see what I'm getting at. Mindfulness has hit psychology hard, and is being used as a "magic fix all".
Now I get it, regulated/deep breathing (both separate and together) can help lower the heart rate, increase oxygen flow throughout the body, and help increase the transportation of "calm" hormones throughout the body. All of these things help with anxiety, no matter the disorder that the anxiety is coupled with. Many disorders cause the person to kind of "loose track of themself", depression gets you too caught up in what ifs and lack of energy, paranoia gets you too caught up in what they think, eating disorders cause body dysmorphia. Mindfulness can help to get you back in tune with your own mind and body. You become aware of how crummy your butt feels after sitting down all day, your own thoughts and feelings, how hungry/full you are. It seems perfect.
But I feel like psychology has fallen in the same pit fall trap that we warn others about. It IS too good to be true. But it can work, for some people, if done properly.
Western society is too different from where Buddism was developed for Buddist ideas to be adopted piece meal, or whole sale, by the broader society. But, mindfulness doesn't have to come from Buddhism, or Taoism. It can come from Stoicism - a Greek philosophy. Ancient Greek culture may not have much in common with modern western cultures, but it is one of the base cultures that modern ones grew out of. Besides, at least the Ancient Greeks were individualist, not collectivist.
But there's still a fundamental probelm. Mindfulness, as it is taught today, is so far removed from the base philosophy that I could not tell you if it's Buddhist or Stoic. That's a big freaking problem. Both philosophies (yes, Buddhism is more philosophy than religion) use mindfulness, but both have a lot to teach before you get there. There's a lot of discipline, and foundational work that you're supposed to learn, and be able to practice before you learn mindfulness as it is described by psychology today. But therapists seem intent on trying to find shortcuts, and make it as fast and simple as possible.
This isn't just about proper historical/philosophical context. Short cutting this process is not without harm. The studies that should have been done, with large numbers of participants and across a variety of groups, to determine the true effectiveness of mindfulness have not been done. So I can't even say for certain what the risk is. But go ahead, Google "the (hidden) cost of mindfulness" or "risks of mindfulness" or "the dark side of mindfulness". I don't want to simply link what I've already found, because then it'll look like I'm skewing the results. I want anyone who actually reads this to do their own research. I know what I've experienced (having practiced mindfulness since I was little, knowing for certain that it only does so much, and struggling to get some form of help that doesn't revolve around mindfulness), I know that my voice isn't the only one asking for caution, but I want people to DO the research and make up their own mind, as opposed to being sheep following the sheppard - no matter who that sheppard is.

1x03 The Southern Air Temple
Knowing what I know now lots of interesting things come up. Zhao's talks with Zuko are much more interesting (and way more terrifying) when you know the rest. Zuko challenging him to an Agni Kai and nearly freezing when Zhao almost had him, like having a flashback to the time his father burned him - I hadn't noticed that before!
One of the things I mentioned that the show glossed over with Aang was his later reaction to learning all the other airbenders were gone. I mean, yeah, Avatar State and all that, but later he's just... too calm. I guess it's because it was a kids show and they couldn't make it too serious, despite it being very serious. I mean, I don't think his Buddist-monk-like behaviour is actually enough to justify that. Pacifistic reaction yes, but not a "smile and everything's fine now" type of reaction. Anyway.
I don't really enjoy Momo. He's okay, I guess, but I've seen funnier animal sidekicks. Perhaps it's his face, kinda creepy and all that. The scene where he first appears is hilarious, though. I only now noticed how his shadow actually looked like a firebender soldier's one, it's like they purposefully made the Fire Nation helmets and Momo's head similar 😆

Japan- Complete Guide to Hakone visit from Tokyo – Hakone Free Day Pass
Japan- Complete Guide to Buying and Using a Japan Rail Pass
Handy guide to Japan Culture and Etiquette
As I stood in Kyoto station outside the JR ticket counter waiting for Amrita and Ohanna, all I could focus was at the bakery right across. I dragged a rucksack, suitcase and a small bag to grab the best chocolate croissant we ever had. It was mountain day, and the station was busy with people travelling all across the country. Worlds 2nd fittest country has a holiday calendar with days dedicated to Mountains, Sea, Star, and a Dolls & Girls Festival. It gives you an idea of how well nature and people are synchronised with each other. Japanese are calm and crazy at the same time, with shrines and Zen gardens all around to love hotels and insane fashion trends, it’s all pretty mind-boggling.
It just seems impossible, travelling to a country where they don’t speak your language and your 6-year-old who has a mind of her own and doesn’t care what you say, in my wildest dreams I had not imagined that it would be so easy travelling in Japan. If you leave your passport or purse somewhere and it comes and finds you, nobody is begging, it’s clean, nobody can be more punctual and mind it; it is considered rude if you count the change you get back while shopping. It’s a different world… a place that’s worth exploring. From Monuments and Shrines to Mountains and beaches, Japan has everything to offer, and visiting them is easier than you think. With an incredible network of worlds best trains, buses, trams and flights you’ll be spoilt for choice.
Delhi – Narita Airport –Tokyo – Kyoto
Kyoto, the earlier capital of Japan, intrigued us as much as Tokyo. With a history of more than 5000 years, love for Zen gardens and a mention in Steve Jobs biography, we decide to visit Kyoto first.
So we exchanged our voucher for JR Pass and took the NXT train to Tokyo central to catch the next Shinkansen for Kyoto. With only two subway lines, the best way to travel in Kyoto is by bus. We took a bus from the Bus terminal right outside Kyoto Station to MyStays Hotel located in Downtown Kyoto.
Kyoto District Map
Downtown Kyoto is close to most of the attractions in town and travelling with my daughter I wanted to be located centrally. Next four days we went all out exploring Kyoto’s innumerable shrines and its cuisine at our slow pace. Wherever you might be in Kyoto, Google maps will always show a Shrine close by. Kyoto has options for hikes and cycling routes, and most of the attractions are starting points for these hikes. We checked official Kyoto Tourism page for latest events and found the Light and sound show on Thousand Demons at Kodaiji Temple.
Exploring Kyoto with a Bus Pass
Buy a one or two day pass depending on the length of your stay and days itinerary for unlimited bus rides during that period. This will take you to almost all corners of Kyoto. It’s always on time, and the best way to find your bus is to use google maps. They also give a city map to get a better idea of the different route the buses ply on.
Top Things to do in Kyoto
Temples- Shrines – Bamboo Forest- Food – Culture – History- Hikes and Cycling
Ginkakuji Temple
Arashiyama – Bamboo Forest & Monkey Garden
Chion-in Temple & Kyoto Station
Kyoto Station building is a sprawling commercial building with train stations, shopping and great restaurants. Kyoto Bus Stand is right outside. Take a bus or do a 10 min walk to the Chion -in Temple.
Gion & Maruyama Park
Yasaka Shrine
Gion is lined up with fantastic shopping, lanes filled up with fabulous restaurants and eateries alongside Mikasa river. A shrine is never far away, and Maruyama Park connected to Gion has a collection of magnificent shrines and temples. This is a must visit during your Kyoto trip
Kodai-Ji Temple
We visited this temple during the festival of 1000 demons with a light and sound show
Fushimi Inari-Taisha – The mountain of faith will test yours so go prepared
Kinkaku-Ji/ Rokuon-Ji- Now a Buddist Aen temple was earlier retirement vill of the shogun
Ryonji
Nishiki market – Street Food, Restaurants & Shopping
Amazing Day Trips from Kyoto using your JR Pass
Kanazawa
Nagahama
Himeji
Enryukuji
Hiroshima
Osaka
Kobe
Hikone
Destination Tokyo
Tokyo is one of those rare cities of the world which has world-class infrastructure on one hand and temples and shrines on the other dating to more than 5000 years. The normal and extreme walk hand in hand. Buildings dedicated to Karaoke Bars, Gaming arcades, Love Hotels, fine dining to the best tea drinking ceremony, samurais and sumo wrestlers. Could I intrigue you more?
Travelling with our daughter, we wanted to choose a place which was close to the attractions we had planned to take her on this trip. We took up an Airbnb in Nippori area. This was a blessing in disguise as we were in a lovely and quiet residential area with all necessities within walking distance like the Belgian cafe across the road.
Top Things To Do In and around Tokyo with Kids
Disney land and Tokyo Sea World– Book the Disney resorts or hotels for comfortable transfers and other benefits. If you are staying out like us, reach the resort at the opening time of 8 am by subway to Maihama station. Also, plan and book according to the footfall on those particular days. Check it here: Disney Crowd Calendar
Ueno Park. Visit this park for:
Ueno Zoo| National Museum of Nature and Science| Shinobazu Pond |Tokyo National Museum| National Museum Of Western Art| The Ueno Royal Museum
Hakone Day Trip
Even on a short trip to Japan, it is imperative to move away from Tokyo to understand the flow of energy, beauty and calm which is part of Japanese life all across the country. The best way to do this is to take a one or two-day trip to Hakone which is less than 100 km from Tokyo. Part of Fuji- Hakone- Izu National Park, It’s a hilly area with fantastic views of Mt Fuji from various locations like Lake Ashi, Ropeway stops, Hotels and more. Read: Japan- Complete Guide to Hakone visit from Tokyo – Hakone Free Day Pass
Kamakura Beach
If the weather is good head out to the beaches around Tokyo. Train rides with slightly more than an hour will get you there.
Hato Bus Tour is perfect to know the cities routes and various famous shrines. We loved the tour and especially our visit to Meiji Shrine located in a 170-acre jungle in the heart of the city. Click here to Book a Hato Bus Tour
Museum of Maritime Science
Lego land
Boat Tours
Tsukiji Fish Market
Planning the Japan TRIP
Japan Visa (http://www.vfsglobal.com/japan/india/)
At INR 1150 is super cheap if you are applying from India. They would generally give a multiple-entry visa with a maximum stay depending on your itinerary. Document checklist is available online and the whole process takes almost seven working days. Also, check out JAL Airways for Promotional offers.
Japan Railway Pass (https://www.jrailpass.com/)
For travelling within Japan though you have a lot of flight options, I would highly recommend buying a JR pass. If you buy a single ticket, it can be very expensive but a JR pass will start saving you money from the first trip itself Stations are located centrally and are easy to approach. Frequency is enough for you to make a pretty flexible plan just in case of any last minute changes. They have options for 7, 14 and 21 days. Special discounts for kids and senior citizens. If it is a last minute trip, you can buy it from an authorised travel agent in your city too. Insist on the free Japan travel guide with it.
Note: has to be bought outside Japan before arrival.
For more information on JR pass click: Complete Guide to Buying and using a Japan Rail Pass
Travel Insurance
It is one of the most important things for the trip. I’ve sworn by it since the day I started travelling internationally. Depending on the policy, it covers all your medical bills, lost luggage and other emergencies.
I recommend: ICICI Lombard and Bajaj Allianz
Pocket Wi-Fi Modems
They generally work for 10 devices and are very useful. It can save you loads of time, as you can check Train times, Shinkansen Train schedules, bus routes, locating restaurants and last minute Cab Bookings.
Book them on JR pass site or various other providers in Japan. They can be collected at the Airport from their respective counters as you land into Japan. You can also go directly and pay and pick up a device, but sometimes in peak season, they are out of stock. So do pre-book.

Hotel Bookings
With few amazing apps, the process of booking rooms has become super easy. I always research the things to do in a city and the book as close as possible to them within my budget. Booking in Japan was a little different; there are a few room types to choose from.
Ryokan | Cube Hotels| Vacation Rentals| Standard Hotels (Budget- Mid-range – Luxury)
Booking.com – If you are not sure but want to block the rooms without paying till a cutoff date.
Agoda.com | Expedia.com| Airbnb.com
We stayed at Mystay Hotel, Kyoto and Airbnb, Nippori Area, Tokyo
Tokyo Currency:
Cash is preferred at most places, and sometimes it can be difficult to find ATM machines in some part of the town or as you travel to lesser touristy areas of Japan. We were carrying Dollars, and our first exchange was at Narita Airport and remaining in the city.
1 INR = 1.76 JPY
1 USD = 107 JPY
Average Meal: 600 yen
Food on the Shelves (7 Eleven, Family Mart, Lawson, Daiso): 300 yen
Ramen and Gyoza (Momo/Dim Sum) in most of the restaurants are 300 yen too.
Don’t miss the most amazing bakery products available all across Japan
Apps to make it all Easy :
City Happenings: TimeoutTokyo| City Tourism websites
Finding Food: GoogleMaps|Yelp|Gurunavi|Bento.com| tabelog.com |openrice.com |opensnap.com
Booking Tours and Activities: Japantravel | Viator |Tripadvisor |Visitacity
Transport: JREastTraininfo| Japanrail|Japantaxi|Navitime|Kyotobus |Googlemaps| Japanguide.com
Conversion rate– xCurrency
Lost in translation: GoogleTranslate| Duolingo (learn basic Japanese)

My woman and I read at least one chapter before we go to sleep. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone that wants inner peace. Go to Amazon

It is a difficult task to choose a spot even from the top 10 vacation destinations. There are so many options plus before the start of the summer, your mailbox will be flooded with mails from different travel groups giving you offers and discounts, so it becomes quite confusing as to which destination to choose for your trip. Here are a few things to consider before choosing a vacation hotspot from the list of Top 10 vacation destinations for Summer 2017.
Before choosing a place from our list top 10 vacation destinations here are few points to ponder upon.
Choose a trip that is within your budget. The vacation always ends up exceeding the budget that you have planned for, so if your plan will be a little over budget then the actual expense will be way above your wallet limit and the vacation will end up giving you more stress and worry then the relaxation that you went looking for.
Plan your companions wisely too. If it is a family trip or you are going with friends or a group of unknown people, remember who you are going with has a great impact on your overall trip. Always go on vacation with people you are comfortable with. If it is a group in which you do not know who is going with you then it is ok, otherwise you can say goodbye to a peaceful trip if a jealous ex or current boss is accompanying you on it.
Do a bit of research for best deals. Nowadays there are so many great deals and promotions available, all you need is just to invest some time and energy in it. Internet has made the life quite easy you can compare the rates of different hotels and recreation areas before actually going to the places. Sites like trip advisor are a great help to plan a successful trip.
Always travel light. There is no need to pack your entire wardrobe on the other hand it is also not advisable to buy new stuff from the vacation stuff the things that you forgot home because the tourist spots are usually expensive. Pack your bags smartly, neither have you ended up being loaded with extra baggage or are bare from the essentials like on the beach without sunblock or leaving your DSLR home.
