Nope, they’re not. They even hated it in the beginning. Then they decided to watch DM with me to learn what was up with that (their verdict was that it’s a highly underrated show even if they “didn’t love it the way I do”). They love that I love it, and unless they’re in a terrible mood for whatever reason, they do listen to all my ygo-ramblings as well as uses references/memes on an almost daily basis ^w^

My big conclusion post of my rewatch of season 3

I have previously described this season as a big fanfiction, and also the "love" season. I was completely right about the love thing - this season IS just 80 episodes of lovers quarrel. Is it like a fanfiction? Yeah, in some regards, but maybe not as much as I originally thought.

I sincerely hope Ludmila seeks therapy. Poor girl.

Parents like Priscila exists in real life and it's a bit interesting to see how she acts all nice and sweet and in a second switches to her real personality. It's also interesting to see how different people react to her. Ludmila, who grew up with her, has a hard time telling anyone something is wrong and gets quiet and does what her mother ones to not get in trouble. Violetta, who grew up with adults around her that treated her with love and care, immediately feels off when Priscila shows her true sides. She doesn't fall for her tricks. I also like that we don't know what happened to Priscila, all we know is that she is getting help.

I have said it before and I will say it again: EVERYONE LOST A BRAINCELL THIS SEASON EXCEPT JADE, WHO GAINED ONE

I really can't understand why Diecesca is the ultimate OTP, i'm sorry. Are they cute? Yes! But OTP worthy? No... I think my problem is that Francesca felt really bad at times for being a relationship with him. After their first kiss, she immediately said it felt wrong. She never wanted hide their love, she wanted to tell Violetta as soon as possible, because she hates lying. Diego told her time after time again that, no, they can't tell, and then sometimes he acted like it was her who didn't want to tell when it was he who had told her not to tell- this is confusing rdfhdxrju

Also Diego was like "we can break up if you don't want to lie" fdzhjk what

Also after their secret was out, they barely had any scenes except like. Casually hanging out.

It's OOC for Violetta to dress up to spy on Leon - she would not do that. Spy on him? Yes. Create a secret identity? No. BUT I like the concept of her dressing up, Roxy is so different from her. It would have been much more fun if she and Fran just created secret identities for another reason - maybe they don't want to be themselves for once or smth and just... dress up. AND THEN THIS HAPPENS

Gery didn't start out annoying at first - she was kind of the whiny younger sister of Lara or smth. She was fine. And then she HAD to fuck shit up and be a bitch

Since Federico still lives in Vilu's house (even though he's not always home), I have liked the idea of him, Violetta and Ludmila just being chaotic siblings (because I, tbh, don't really ship Fedemila and there's a reason for that, that I will list further down. However, just like Fede and Vilu are a sibling duo, and Vilu and Ludmi also are a sibling duo, I kind of see how Fede and Ludmi also act like siblings)

There was a lot of... sexual undertones sometimes. It could be because i'm older and have a much more dirty mind than I did before, but also... Germán was afraid of Leon and Violetta being alone together in her room, Priscila straight up accused Angie of sleeping with Germán because she saw her in a morning gown, Diego was "so in love" with Francesca that it scared him, Olga tried to get Ramallo all season... hm

The songs are bops, but they are always bops

I lacked a lot of friendship moments, especially between Franletta >:c Season 2 made me ship them and then they give me very little content in season 3

They only had... 1 sleepover this season excuse the sleepover eps are the best ones

Diego and Leon had the most heated rivarly in season 2 and then they ?? barely interacted??? this season?? DION RIVARLY >> DION FRIENDSHIP

This was, as I said, the season of love, and yet my favorite love story was between Naty, Camila and Ludmila and it wasn't even "canon".

Naty legit tried to kiss Ludmila in a scene and Camila canonly wanted to practise kissing with her-

Ok but I honestly think Ludmila is a closeted lesbian and a big reason why she hasn't come to terms with it is because of her mother. This is likely also why Priscila dislikes Naty - because Naty is in some ways more "open" with who she is

Pablo and Angie should have been endgame and I feel like they just added Brenda so Pablo wouldn't be alone

The amount of evidence of Naty being gay I have after rewatching... I HAVE to make a video. I have to. It's coming, you'll see.

I... don't get emotional over the last episode. Last ep of season 1, when Violetta was gonna move away and said goodbye to her friends and family and then got to come back and Germán got to see her on stage? Emotional. Season 2, where everyone is having writer's block and Violetta is on the edge of literally being depressed and then her dad plays the piano on stage? Emotional. Season 3, where everyone is happy and get together again and they have a wedding and there are only good vibes all around? Cute. It's cute.

Now, I don't dislike season 3. On the contrary! I love it! It's just that... I like the previous seasons more. Especially season 2, the vibes in that season is so amazing.

I should've done a liveblog on my rewatch of s1 and s2 before hskdjdedhu maybe i'll do that one day, i'm sure I will rewatch them again in a near future.

Before you ask, I WILL NOT LIVEBLOG ON THE MOVIE. THE MOVIE IS A WATTPAD FANFICTION. The only things I like is the visuals and the soundtrack, and the fact that Leonetta probably had offscreen sex on the beach while waiting for rescue.

Anyway you know my post about how I would rewrite Violetta? Kinda want to do that now... though, I would change some things, like making Naty a lesbian and so on.

Iku

How I feel about this character 

I think she’s pretty neat! One of the coolest-looking  both in design and the way she moves. I used to not think much of her beyond what was already there in swr, but a certain mimic’s stories made me appreciate all sorts of ideas with her.

All the people I ship romantically with this character 

I don’t have any serious ones, or even jokey ones I think about often... I’ll make up for it by going extra in the next section though.

My non-romantic OTP for this character 

Most obvious one is Tenshi. I like that initial development from them barely considering each other past the most basic formalities, to them getting to know each other a little better for the first time after Tenshi’s self-caused incident. They’re not exactly buddy-buddy, but Iku comes to admire certain traits of Tenshi and maybe feeling proud of how she changes thanks to her time on Earth, and Tenshi comes to consider Iku to be maybe the one and only thing from Heaven that is worthwhile, and the only person from heaven who cares about her as a person rather than what she’s supposed to do as a celestial.

Next obvious one, there’s no way she and Tenshi didn’t both begrudgingly became friends with Suika whom I like to think spent a year-long vacation in heaven. Iku may not have ever had any problems or animosity towards her daily lifestyle as a messenger, but Suika just throwing it into disarray every now and then was appreciable in it’s own right. I like the thought of them sharing a drink on evenings, Iku talking about her work or the people she knows, Suika laughing at her face, and somehow it’s always a nice time. Also Iku secretly thinks it’s extremely entertaining every time someone is tasked to drive Suika out of heaven and Suika effortlessly beats them up.

My unpopular opinion about this character 

I think literally everything I just wrote above about her dynamic with Tenshi counts as an unpopular opinion? Usually it’s either she’s entirely subservient, or she just 100% doesn’t care for her, neither of which are that interesting to me.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon. 

I just need her smugly telling people about the weather, and then taunting them about how disasters might befall them just to freak them out.

Medicine

How I feel about this character

I surprise myself with how much I like her. Maybe nostalgia is a part of it because pofv was my first touhou game, and when she first shows up in that stage of purple flowers and her theme song kicks... it leaves an appropriately ominous impression! I like her a lot for real though. Her backstory kinda sets up her as a dark figure, and she certainly can be what with backstory and passion for poison, but she’s just as capable of being goofy with her dreams of doll liberation.

My non-romantic OTP for this character

Skipping romances. Though honestly, I think she would probably have roughly the same kind of relationship with just most other character, since her narrow-mindedness groups anyone and everyone as “my fellow dolls” and “not a doll”. One fun exception would be her looking at Alice’s dolls, and assigning herself as the one to check whether or not Alice is treating them properly. (Alice puts up with it because she likes the chance to examine a living doll like Medicine).

Another would be her being friends with Yuuka. This is somewhat popular in fanworks and with me even though I never came up with the ‘why’. I just like the thought of Medicine respecting the way Yuuka cares for flowers and in turn finds her pleasant company. Yuuka likewise respects Medicine and humours (maybe even believes in!?) her goals of doll emancipation.

My unpopular opinion about this character 

I think she can actually pretty cool, and even other youkai are scared to go near her (mostly after they meet her once, tick her off, and get hit with all the diseases)!

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon. 

I think she should come to Miyoi’s bar and demand dolls allowed to be served drinks. Miyoi agrees only because she’s afraid Medicine will infect everything with poison, but Medicine’s actually too civil to even think of doing that.

How I feel about this character

Is it weird to say I feel a sense of melancholy every time I see a picture of her? It must be because all those moody scenery fanarts of her surrounding by leaves has left a strong impression on me... Anyway, I like her and Minoriko a bunch! I’m sure like most people, I consider her the more introspective and spiritual (funny thing to say about a god, I realise) of the two.

All the people I ship romantically with this character 

Okay while I was coming up with ships like on the spot here, and I realise I’d rather just cover any relationshps in general of hers I might like in the next section. Some of them can be constituted as romantic if I ever just wanted to tick the ‘is this a romance’ checkbox on a whim.

My non-romantic OTP for this character

Shizuha doesn’t strike me as someone who goes out of her way to interact with people, instead being content with whoever comes to her. One of those I think would be HIna, whose aura of misfortune is something Shizuha is totally indifferent to, and so they hang out without a care.

I bought Ushahori’s video about the Aki sisters chatting it up with the Watatsuki sisters, and thanks to that I’m pretty fond of the latter stopping by to visit whenever they drop by Gensokyo.

My unpopular opinion about this character 

I have no idea if this is unpopular, but I just assume that it’s a very common story beat to have Shizuha’s angst over the inevitable passing of autumn and her jealously towards Minoriko’s popularity with humans into both outright despair over her being and resentment towards her sister respectively. I don’t have anything against either those takes, but my default interpretation of Shizuha has her mostly melancholic yet peacefully content and even happy about the passing of autumn. I also think she and Minoriko are basically two peas in a pod and never have any serious disagreements, always having each other’s back no matter the situation.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon. 

In the canon that is real life, I want to eat a sweet potato from her sister’s stand.

Uraraka Ochako

I felt like doing a character meme!

Favorite thing about her:

Her ferocity!! Her kindness!! Her desire to share her entrance exam points with Midoriya is even more impressive given how she wants to financially support her parents, and she was willing to jeopardize her admission to UA to help Midoriya. I also love that her motive to be a hero wasn’t to be number one/to win/to save people, but to make money—to make money for a not-evil reason, in an (apparently) ethical way, working the heroism-is-a-job angle, and I think that’s really interesting because it’s less abstract.

Least favorite thing about her:

Her absence!! When will she be important to the plot again?! When will she be emotionally challenged with an interesting problem?? When will she use her quirk to its full kickass potential??!?!

Her crush was cute at first, but now it’s stale. Especially the keychain…the sooner she can ditch it, the better.

Favorite line:

“Can you give him some of the points I earned?”

“But ‘Deku,’ well…it just screams, ‘Do your best!!’”

BROTP:

Asui is the obvious choice here. I love how these two always appear together, and definitely holding hands during the test of courage at summer camp was real cute. And how Uraraka helps Asui apologize to the Bakugo rescue squad <3

I also really love Uraraka’s dynamic with Bakugo. I like to think they’re super competitive at everything, and Uraraka is one of the few people to understand the complexities of Bakugo’s feelings about Deku.

I’d like to see more of Uraraka hanging out with the bakusquad, especially Ashido. Those two would make a fun pair of friends.

I’d love to see more of Uraraka interacting with Toga, though I’m not sure “brotp” is the word for it…

OTP:

Kacchako is the standout ship for me. I ship izuocha…but in fanart/fanfic, not canon, because Uraraka’s crush overshadows every other part of her character in canon. But she shone more in her fight against Bakugo than at any other point in the manga so far, and I like to imagine that Bakugo brings out Uraraka’s moxie.

I like Uraraka/Shigaraki for the reasons laid out in this shipping manifesto 😂 and I love Uraraka/Hatsume since it’s hilarious and puts a great twist on Uraraka’s reactions to Hatsume in canon. I’ve never actually read any Uraraka/Asui fic, though I’m sure I’ll wander into that part of fandom eventually. I also think Uraraka/Kirishima and Uraraka/Kaminari are really cute; Uraraka/Iida is nice in theory, but I don’t think I’ve actually seen or read them before!

NOTP:

Not really. Mineta, I guess, though I feel like that goes without saying kinda like Uraraka/her parents.

Random headcanon:

Her quirk doesn’t simply negate earth’s gravitational force, it enables her to exert a separate, weak gravitational force on things. That’s why when objects have high momentum (for example, Midoriya plummeting to the ground during the entrance exam) she’s able to touch them and then exert acceleration in the opposite direction to bleed off their kinetic energy. The catch is that, like gravity, she can only exert a force on items she’s touched as a collective, all of them all at the same time, not individually. I also think she can only release everything at once, not one at a time?

Anyway, I’d love to hear more details from Horikoshi on her quirk!

Unpopular opinion:

Hmm…Jirou’s is my favorite design, but I think Uraraka is the prettiest character of the cast, better looking than Todoroki or Yaoyorozu or anyone else. Is that unpopular…?

Also, her quirk is my favorite of class 1-a and maybe in the whole series, though I do love Jirou’s and Todoroki’s too. It’s an awesome rescue quirk, and it’s an incredibly badass combat quirk, too, and I love that it’s involuntary so she has to be mindful of how many fingers she uses to touch things. It also has potentially powerful symbolic implications, in terms of like…being ungrounded, of drifting and being aimless, that resonate a bit with Uraraka’s initial desire to follow her parents into construction, and later on her desire to imitate Midoriya, like she doesn’t have a solidly grounded, individual sense of identity. So…I’ll keep my fingers crossed.
