I want to swing a bat at a hornets nest
#but not bad enough to do it out loud#at least not right now#so im doing it in the tags#ive talked before about how people with certain developmental disabilities#namely autism and adhd#are frequently considered privileged over other disabled people#and in same cases privileged in society in general not just over other disabled people#its also of note to me that the slurs used against us are frequently considered 'unreclaimable' i.e. retarded#or reclaimable but not by is#see the ever occurring discourse around 'nd'* people reclaiming cripple despite the history of mental cripple as a term#like i dont think these ideas are unrelated ya know#autistic and adhd people are privileged and therefore dont have the right to reclaim slurs#* i dislike the use of nd in these contexts as i feel its frequently used as a way to minimize the disability aspect#only acknowledging autism or adhd as neurodiversity and not as disability to further that argument#op
