Are the people in churches more comfortable with online giving than going to church and giving in the usual manner?  That is a question for churches, pastors and faithful will be able to answer as the years slides along Covid-19 turbulence. From March at the very height of Corona virus lockdown, many church goers for the first time in their church going lives, witnessed, online service and online giving of offering, tithes etc. Though this has been ongoing for some times by the time lockdown was pronounced in many countries; it became the new normal. People who previously wouldn’t touch things, like Zoom or FaceTime, suddenly rely on them for personal connection. Similarly, people who would not give digitally are now willing to trust the system. In our current state, as humans. A unique opportunity to grow digitally and automate giving in churches is here . But, how do we do that? Maybe your church is in the process of re-opening its doors or has reopened, you’re still facing months of online-only services, now is the time to make sure you have the right giving tools in place for this new, changing church landscape. So I know we all come across dozens of posts from all sorts of people who need financial help. This isn’t one of those. I personally am doing fine financially. But there are a lot of people who aren’t. Specifically families of child cancer patients.

I’m part of Dance Marathon, a student run philanthropy on the University of Iowa Campus that raises money for pediatric cancer patients at the Stead Family children’s hospital. You may have heard of the new-ish wave tradition during Hawkeye football games where we wave to the kids at the hospital during the game. That’s where this money goes. To those kids and their families.

Today is Day to DM one of our big fundraising pushes. As an organization we are trying to raise $500,000 and my personal goal towards that is $180. I know we’re all broke or are supporting other worthy causes but if you have anything to spare, every dollar counts, and if you can’t give could you please share this post so others see it.

Below is a price breakdown of some of the operations Dance Marathon supports.

$7 covers the cost of one meal at the hospital

$52 pays for one student's tissue typing, to see if they could be bone marrow donors

$100 pays for a weeks work of food for a family through the Ronald McDonald Food Pantry

$250 covers the cost of a new wig for a child who has lost his/her hair

$425 covers the cost to send a child with cancer to summer camp for one week

$1,000 covers the cost of pharmacy medications paid for by Dance Marathon for one year

$5,000 pays for the funeral expenses for a child dancing in our hearts
