Day 6/10 of getting back on my feet
Showered
Brushed my teeth
Swam for an hour
Did german duolingo for 45 minutes
Couldn't read a lot sadly
Found about my uni exam result
Searched about grants and scholarships
Searched about the university I want to go to.
It was a nice day, I woke up right after uni exam results were sent out in my country so I found about them pretty early.
My results were decent. Sadly a bit worse than I usually scored on tests. I had a couple of unexpected mistakes in math, also missed some easy questions around the board, but I can still go to the university I want and even study medicine there so it's all good. (Maths and physics fcked me even though I expected to get stuck in biology or chemistry. Guess medicine really is a good choice for me)
I also took a look at some scholarships. My results aren't good enough to get some of the better scholarships but my university does qualify for a lot of grants and whatnot so I still hope that I can get something. Applications for those should start in a couple of weeks.
Over all it was a nice day. Got some good news. I hope everything turns out alright.
Good night everyone, and good luck with whatever you're working on!

Day 4/30 days of productivity
I'd like to stay home as much as possible today after spending the past few days wandering from one coffee shop to the other. Also trying self-initiated challenges this time as motivation to step out of my comfort zone, the first being smiling at a stranger.
Work as usual
Practice AZ
Read an article
Review notes from yesterday
Walk 30 mins
Read a chapter
I found something interesting during my walk today: The carving on the second photo. Imagine future archaeologists discovering that block thousands of years later and learning about the pandemic!

From AOC on Bluesky. It says:
“Yes, this administration is dangerous and cruel, but they are also shockingly dim and incompetent.
Opportunities are everywhere.
Make everything as hard as possible. Resist every demand. Refuse entry without a warrant. Don’t take the buyout. Their problem solving skills are 📉
It’s important to know that a lot of productive activity is happening in person and offline, too.
Not all of it can be broadcast online, but we’ve had hundreds of people showing up to our trainings, mobilizations, and more.
Keep going. Tyranny is eroded by a sea of small acts. Everything matters.”

Sit down at your desk.
open the book, start reading.
you don’t understand. yet you MUST figure this out to pass the exam.
it’s painful to think about it.
EMBRACE THE PAIN.
feel the uncomfortableness and run towards it.
you have what it takes, stop doubting yourself.

Settling into University
Hi everyone, hope you have been doing well! I guess I forgot about this blog the last few weeks, but I wanted to make another post.
Things have been going pretty well lately. Sure the last few weeks weren't fun but everything went according to plan. At least I think so.
In my last post I had went back home from vacation. We were moving to another city 2 weeks after that so we got to work packing up the house. It was a bit hard for me, probably because I'm a bit out of shape. Still, we packed everything up in a week or so, and left my old house. I got a bit emotional, as that was my home for the last 14 years, but I guess I couldn't have stayed forever.
We had hired a moving company, so we left right after them. Our new home is still nice, a bit smaller than the old one but I think It's very pretty. Moving in was a bit harder because of the tighter corridors though, and we had to spend 3-4 days to settle in completely. Again, not very fun but at least going like planned.
I then applied for my Uni's dormitories. I think I was very lucky because I actually got played in one that's 5 minutes of walking away from my faculty! I can't drive a car so even though the dormitories aren't very comfortable (2 bunk beds in a 18 m² room, imagine that!) it should be nice to stay there.
I stayed a bit in there. The food is OK, but it's pretty cheap so I will probably eat in the cafeteria most of the time. The beds are OK, I chose the top bunk because they recommended it online but I'm sadly not used to the ladder yet, so I almost fell! (Twice xD)
Now I'm working on some entrance exams. They want to test our English to see if we can understand the lesson, so they added a couple of tests. I did well on the first one, which was mostly reading with some multiple choice questions, but I have two more. One will be a writing assignment and the other one will be speech, I hope I can do well!
That's all I did for now. Orientation starts next week and lessons the week after that do I'm very excited!! A bit nervous too but I'm sure everything will be alright. Goodbye for now, I wish you guys the best.

Day 6/30 days of productivity
Taking things slow today. Breaks can be productive in a way, no?
Eating out with friends every now and then is a good way to recharge. Weekend is coming and it's hard not to be tempted to rest after another week of staring at screens.
Read something

Q: Are you a tea person or a coffee person? Or neither? — Both. I have days where I prefer coffee and days where I prefer tea only. Most of the time, I'll have both in one day.

the vast majority of fanworks are bad, and that's fine, actually. they are bad for the same reason that the average number of legs for a human person to have is less than two: statistics. like with all endeavours and especially creative ones, most people who write fanfiction or draw art of their favourite characters are bad at it. if you line up all the crochet projects in the world, most of them will be, well, bad. some are bad because they're the first thing a person ever made, or the second or third or tenth, and this kind of thing takes practice. others are bad because the person who made them is just not very good at it. maybe they just learned how to make granny squares and they're perfectly happy to never expand or improve on that. most people who dance or bake or garden or braid hair are not amazing at it! and you'd never go to your kid's dance recital or eat your friend's homemade carrot cake and expect the same experience as you'd have at a professional ballet performance or award-winning bakery. And that's if we assume there is an objective measure of Good Art, which there isn't! Some art is just "bad" because you don't like it!
I think though that specifically with fanfiction, we sometimes forget that when we read a book or watch a movie, dozens of people have looked at it and given feedback and made changes and done quality control before the final product reaches our shelves or screens, and that's not counting the original writer's learning process and past experience. A published book is not anyone's first crochet project, even if it is their debut novel. But with fanfiction, the barrier to entry is so low (on purpose! this is a good thing!) that we do get to see a lot of wonky granny squares, and on sites like AO3 they're sitting on the same shelf as the hand-made silk lace wedding dress and you can't always tell just by looking at it which is which. The consequence of this is that we encounter fic that we think is unpolished, has bad punctuation, is out of character, and we are tempted to think "well, this is awful! how dare this person put this wonky granny square on the same shelf as the lace wedding dress!" But that's not how fandom is supposed to work! That wonky granny square is somebody who is really excited about this TV show they just watched and they are reaching out into the void to share their excitement with you. To scoff at them for not making a lace wedding dress is really, really rude. Even if they did make a lace wedding dress, maybe it's just really not your style, or you think they should have used a different pattern, and it's still their wedding dress. You don't have to wear the dress and you don't have to read the fic.
We all know that there is some fanfic out there that is incredible. I think it's important to talk about that! But the vast majority of people who post their writing online are just sharing their little hobby projects that they make for fun and I also think it's important to remember that.

100 Days of Productivity: The Fifth Day
The second exam was a disaster. Medical stuff occurred and I handed it back practically blank. Fortunately, since then I have had a few days off to drown my sorrows with television and now I am recovered enough to (cautiously, carefully) get back in the saddle!
Today’s Contents:
Signed up to Open Universities, Smithsonian volunteers, and Distributed Proofreaders
Completed 3/8 of OU’s free short course Get ready for beginners’ French. I’m hoping there will be a stronger focus on grammar here than in Duolingo, so that I can get a more solid grounding. Currently I’m really struggling with French syntax.
Transcribed a few documents for the Smithsonian.
Began DP’s Basic Proofreading Course.
10 minutes Duolingo French
Today’s Literary Explorations:
The Problem at Thor Bridge, Arthur Conan Doyle
Today’s Top Track
