Hello Sister, I hope this doesn’t comes off as weird but I am in a similar boat as you. I am university now, but I am taking student loans for my program. I think I should change my program to another one numerous times. However, I found out that there are many resources that provide free education online. I’m pretty sure Harvard has free classes, but I don’t think they give degrees or certificates. I know some people say as long as you have the experience it’s ok, I hope that is how it works in Scotland too.
On these online courses a person can obtain a certificate, maybe a degree in their desired field. I think the only thing that you would need to pay for is the exam, other than that it’s free.
