Celebrity Crush
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hi guys!
This is a new one, but it's kind of a suit from this story. A bonus chapter, I don't know how we can call it.
I hope you will like it :)
TW : Ona Batlle being perfect as ever.(I'm so in love)
Summary : You're a worldclass singer in an interview after you left your group because your manager and staff were asshole.
Enjoy!
______________________________________________________________
After leaving your group's separation, you quickly felt better. The depression that awaited you flew away like a cloud of smoke once the stress and pressure that were constantly on your shoulders stopped existing. Even when you were on trial against your old record company, your former bosses and manager, you felt good. Because even if you ended up paying millions, it meant you were free again. And that, in your eyes, was priceless.
You must also admit that being able to be with your girlfriend on a daily basis is probably the main reason for your well-being. Ona has always been the most important person in your life and since your return to Barcelona, you have trouble being separated from her. You gladly accompany her to her training sessions and you will also happily get her when she has finished. You go to each of her games as well, even if they are on the other side of Spain or in another country. You have so much time to catch up and your wear your jersey with her name with pride.
You were afraid at first that having you around all the time would end up bothering Ona, but she seems as happy to have you back as you are. At first, you didn’t know what to do while the footballer was training, so you cleaned up your house. As the days passed, you started composing and playing music again, for fun. Your apartment may no longer shine like a mint, but it has the advantage that your housekeeper stops staring at you when you don’t put their products in the right place.
It's only two years later that you decide to release a music album, entirely produced by you. You don’t want to experience the same kind of problems as before and you’ve decided that you’re never better served than by yourself. The songs are mostly love songs related to Ona to be fair.
When you looked for musicians, you asked the guys but only Ricardo agreed. You didn’t blame the other two, even if you now use the thing to annoy them when you see them again and you start bickering like fifteen year olds.
You choose your interviews yourself and it's you who plans your concert schedules, arranging to place them at times or places that don't make you miss any match of Ona. It's sometimes more difficult for her to come see you in concert, but these being the same each time, you don't hold it against her. You have an agent, though, who is no one but your big brother, who you have complete confidence in, and who knows how to be a watchdog when it comes.
After dropping Ona off at practice today, you head to the centre of Barcelona for an interview. You initially hesitated before accepting, but when sold to you as a way to also talk about homosexuality that is forced to hide in the music world, you quickly accepted.
"Drive carefully. I will try to listen to you" Ona promised before kissing you tenderly caressing your cheek.
"All right. Be careful Onita."
Ona smiled at you and left the car, not without kissing you one more time when you whines when you saw her leaving your car.
The report that is broadcast before your interview attracts all your attention and you are happy that the subject is approached in this way. The way they educate young people on the subject also pleases you very much. During the ad page and the beginning of your interview, you send a quick message to Ona and your mother, telling them that the interview will soon begin.
The headphones on your ears, you smile at the journalist who is interviewing you. She is a well-known and respected journalist in Spain and you are happy that she is the one doing your interview.
"So Y/N, hello! How are you?"
"I’m fine thank you and you?" you answer with a smile.
"Well, I’m glad you’re here."
You smile and nod. She informed you that the interview was being filmed to be broadcast online on the radio’s website, but don’t forget that most people can’t see you. So you also thank her orally.
After discussing the report and general views, she gently guides the discussion on your own case, as agreed. You naturally asked Ona’s permission to talk about her before accepting the interview.
"And so in your case, it was your record company at the time that prohibited you from mentioning your girlfriend?"
"Yes. In truth, I was not allowed to talk about my homosexuality at all. It was the record company that started releasing subtle information to make the fans believe that something was going on between Juan and me"
"And you were already with your girlfriend when it all started?"
"We’ve been together since we were 17 and I’ve never kept the truth from them" you shrug your shoulders.
"It must have been hard for you, but also for her, I guess."
You swallow nervously, the difficult moments through which you passed coming back in memory. Playing nervously with your fingers, you quickly shift your attention to your interlocutor.
"Very. Honestly, I’m very lucky that she stayed. Many other people would have given up on me I think."
The reporter smiles at you before moving on to another question. You knew this kind of moment would come and you were prepared. But that doesn’t mean it’s nice to talk about it anyway.
"I can see people reacting to what you said and some people find it unbelievable that your former employers have not managed to separate you" she comments looking at a screen next to her.
"Oh, actually they almost succeeded. But that’s precisely when I decided to stop everything. I could see my life without music, but I couldn’t see my life without Ona" you say timidly while smiling.
The journalist smiles back at you and winks at you before grabbing a small pile of cards next to her.
"Thank you for your sincerity. Now a quick round of questions on anything and everything, all our guests come through. Are you ready?"
"Ready" you answer, a little more relaxed.
You laugh softly when she throws a jingle, before you ask the first question.
"What is your favorite season?"
"Summer" you answer. The summer break would be fairer, considering Ona’s busy schedule.
"Your favorite food?"
"The fideua of my mother-in-law, sorry Mama I love you"
"If you had to live in a city other than Barcelona, which one would it be?"
You give yourself a few seconds to think, quickly listing the places you know in your head.
"Um… Maybe Palma de Mallorca"
An hour’s flight from your families, the little island is a place you enjoy. So why not. In addition, you need the sun to live properly. Even if you enjoy London, you don't see yourself living there permanently.
"Real Madrid or FC Barcelona?"
"Barcelona, obviously" you answer with a smile.
"The first thing you do in the morning, only the answers that can be listened by our youngest ears are allowed" jokes the journalist, making you laugh.
"Turn off my girlfriend’s alarm clock I guess"
You never understood how Ona got up and got to practice on time during your absence. She never hears the sound of her alarm clock.
"Ok and last question. Who is your celebrity crush? Ban to mention Ona's name"
You laugh again and roll your eyes.
"Okay then… The Number 22 of Fc Barcelona Femini is kind of cute" you answer with malice, mentioning Ona's number.
It makes the journalist laugh and you smile while shrugging your shoulders before answering.
"What? You saw my girlfriend? There’s no way I’d mention another name"
This is where the interview ends and you warmly thank the whole team for their kindness. After posing for a photo for their social networks, you still stay with them to talk a little bit. At this time, Ona is probably coming home, Salma having offered to bring her back for once since you were not sure to arrive on time.
When you go out, some fans are waiting for you and you take a few minutes to talk to them, sign autographs or take pictures. When you finally get to your car, you answer Ona’s message that she is home to tell her that you are coming too.
"I’m home mi Amor!"
Ona appears smiling in the entrance after a few seconds and you don't hesitate to pass your arms around her to squeeze her against you. It’s only been a few hours but it’s pretty incredible how much you missed her. You smile while feeling the comforting smell of her shampoo and smile even more when she drops kisses in the hollow of your neck.
"How was the training?" you ask her while playing with her long hair.
"Very good. Only three games left and we’re on vacation"
You smile and nod. Barcelona are already sure to win the championship and you saw their third straight victory in the Champions League a few weeks before.
"I can’t wait"
You have already planned your vacation, three weeks under the sun of Hawaii. You know how tired Ona is and you intend to do everything possible so that she can recover properly. What she doesn’t know is that you plan to propose to her there and that almost everything is already organized.
Ona turns you away from the last details you have to do by putting her lips on yours, waking the butterflies in your stomac.
"Come, I ordered food. I took sushi as I didn't know what time you would arrive"
"It’s perfect" you assure her, letting her train you in your kitchen by the hand. "Like you" you add with a smirk, lightly squeezing her bum.
Ona laughs and turns around to face you and put her arms around your neck.
"What a sweat talker and a charmer" she whispers against your lips before kissing you again, making you shiver.
"I’m so in love with you it’s disgusting" you smirk a few minutes later when you’re sitting in front of your plate.
"Oh yeah? Well it seems to me that you also appreciate the number 22 of FC Barcelona?"
Sitting in front of you, Ona has eyes that sparkle with mischief and you laugh by pointing with one of your sticks.
"You can’t blame me. She’s amazing."

Breaking boundaries and amplifying Edmonton’s creative community
Meet the 31 large Artist Project grant recipients
With so many artists pursuing various ideas and disciplines, it’s inspiring to see what Edmonton’s arts community is creating. As our artists share stories of the past, present and imagined futures, experiment with new ways of transforming the audience experience, and challenge assumptions and the status quo, we continue to build a city that is a beacon for cultural expression.
Assistance provided by grants such as the Artist Project grant afford more opportunities for artists to present groundbreaking work that shines a spotlight on the stories that are often left untold. With the support of an Artist Project grant, seven artists will participate in the research and rehearsal process with choreographer Alison Neuman as they prepare to mount their production of The Strike. The production explores the story of several characters experiencing disability or marginalization and the interactions they have with persons of power that change their lives forever.

Many of Edmonton’s exceptional musicians have been making waves locally and nationally. Artist project grants ensure songs from Edmonton artists continue to be sung and help to get their work out to a wider audience. With many artists receiving large project grants, keep an eye out for new music from members of our dynamic music scene. JUNO nominated singer-songwriter Nuela Charles will explore soul and pop sounds of the 1970s on her new record.
Being nominated for Country Recording of the Year at the 2019 Edmonton Music Awards was just one accomplishment in this big year for country band The Prairie States. With their artist project grant, the band will keep the momentum going and record a new six-song EP.

Artist Project grants also give artists the opportunity to explore and experiment in their practice. Brenley Charkow’s ambitious North American premiere of The Girl in the Machine will explore the intersection between immersive and traditional live theatre, utilizing the technology of the Zeidler Dome at the Telus World of Science. Expanding and reinvigorating his project that was originally presented as part of NextFest 2018, Mac Brock’s project Tracks is an integrated audience and artist play that explores deeply personal stories. This reworked version will feature eight performers under the age of 25 who self-identify as queer.

Investing in our artists with programs like the Artist Project grant helps to foster an exciting ecology of creation, expression, reflection, disruption that is unique amongst cultural landscapes. This year, 31 artists and projects have been awarded a large Artist Project grant (between $5,001 and $25,000), approved through our peer assessment process. It’s embarrassing, the last three written entries on here have mostly been about people passing away as if I’m surrounded by the all-encompassing grim reaper everyday at every turn. I mean, this is what happens when you write about the past and naturally the people who are no longer with us will get a bit of extra space because all we have from them now are memories, but for fuck sake, I’m not mister doom and gloom all the time. If anything, it seems as if I’m surrounded by a self-contained bubble of early 90s Japanese wrestling, 70′s power-pop, Radio Garden, this Oliver Sacks book that I’m hoping to finish before the end of the week and curling. No really, curling. Seriously, curling rules.
I haven’t written that much about music in the last several years mostly because of burnout and if I’m not careful, it’ll start to feel like a job and I’ll want to put it off until my non-existent deadline creeps up on me which I can push back to infinity without any consequence (hell, it’s taken me a week and a half to finish this pointless exercise anyway). Besides, critiquing music as a serious profession, I’ve come to realize as the years have past is, well, kind of stupid; like if you don’t have anything nice to say, just ignore it and all the bad music will all hopefully vanish, right?
That being said, I do wonder why a lot of bands from yonder past never never got the credit or recognition they deserved. Usually from a DIY perspective, I’m quick to blame poor distribution deals from a company run out of their mom’s basement, or a local band who never played beyond the same 20 people at the same club for their entire existence, (this plagued almost every Detroit band from the early-80s until the late-90s) or just plain old self-destruction that still bites people back, whether if it’s drug addiction or a fear of failure/success. My personal favorite --and I can’t find it on the internet to save my life right now, was when a jilted ex destroyed all but a hundred copies of her boyfriend’s first and only EP of his band, thus making it an instant collector’s item with their tracks being discovered fairly recently on a Killed By Death bootleg.
I also think my own opinions on music have always a been a bit left of center as I get bored way too easily and I quickly turn into a crotchety old man whenever Pitchfork creams their jeans over another Garageband produced dance track that sounds as boring and milk toast as any song put together from laptop bloops and bleeps.* Feeling this old out of touch makes one resort to the jazz or country section of any used record store, or when anyone asks me what I listen to these days, I usually say “podcasts.” But something about the aforementioned 70s power-pop obsession has arrived after a brief yet expensive summer of Northern Soul collecting that got put on hold as I have a hard time paying more than $20 for a 45; yeah, this phase didn’t last very long. Before that, it was Sun Ra who has literally hundreds of releases under his always spotty discography and after awhile, it became overwhelming search through scores of, I’m sorry, no disrespect, bin fillers, to eventually find a reissued gem like Sleeping Beauty or Lanquidity. Before that, it was electronic, sci-fi synth soundtrack sounding 70s prog made by the guy who use to drum for The Shadows. Did I mention that I get bored way too easily?
Even by record nerd standards, I know I have some unpopular opinions on popular unpopular music: Big Star weren’t going to be next Beatles ever and they probably have five good songs top. As much as I love The Jam, Style Council have a handful of tracks that blow away anything else Paul Weller’s ever done (oh snap, fighting words). With a few exceptions, The Yellow Pills comps are wildly overrated with a lot of tracks sound more like a second rate Rick Springfield --even if it was the point for a band to be the next Rick Springfield. Also, it still bothers me that The Fastbacks, mostly ignored for their entire 22 year career, got more recognition when they opened for The Presidents of The United States of America when “Peaches” was in heavy rotation. Seriously, I’ll take Answer The Phone Dummy over any 90s Sub Pop release any day.
The Keys: I Don’t Wanna Cry
Produced by Joe Jackson and still managed to have only found a recent audience from the depths of obscurity thanks to a Youtube hero. Not bad, but probably too nice and squeaky clean as The Buzzcocks and Undertones already did this way better and louder. Still, the singer hits those high notes with ease and could have easily been a hit if it was written for, I don’t know, Elvis Costello or someone else a bit more angsier.
The Letters: Nobody Loves Me
Again, way too wussy and self-hating even by pop-punk standards, but I still love this track as it’s bouncy pogo energy and raw production more than make up for the shitty lyrics. One and done, never heard from again until a 2002 CD reissue of their mostly unreleased discography, or is it a reunion record? I don’t know.
The Tours: Language School
Another one and done from the UK who got plenty of hype from John Peel, signed to Virgin and imploded within a year never to be heard from until Cherry Red reissued their unreleased album a few years ago which is now also going for a steep price on Discogs. Nice short, poppy number here that if anything, makes you realize how much (again) the Buzzcocks influenced a generation of UK bands in the late 70s-early 80s.
20/20: Remember The Lightning
I first remember hearing about these guys from the well meaning Radio Heartbeat Records who reissued a single that quickly went out print along with the rest of the labels discography --some moved on to form Captured Tracks who eventually went on to re-release all of Milk ‘n Cookies output on a (sorry) completely unnecessary 2xLP box set, huge picture book included. 20/20’s first album got lost in the shuffle of another busted label (notice a trend here) that got swallowed up by Epic Records, which is a shame because we could have had a punkier younger brother of the Knack.
De Cylinders: I Wanna Get Married
Spontaneously heard a live set of these guys on the always fantastic, very missed Cherry Blossom Clinic on WFMU and rushed to see their record release/only American show ever in front of a dozen others at a random Brooklyn bar. The wonderful Sing Sing Records reissued this single and naturally, there’s a way out of print CD discography compilation  that’s only available in Japan for like $40 bucks on Discogs. Uh, I have to find a job first.
Nasty Facts: Drive My Car
God, I love the internet. This gem would have never been discovered if it wasn’t for some Youtube hero who posted a vinyl rip of a bootleg as the original pressing is long gone --cheapest one I found on Discogs going for $70 and it’s tough being a cheapskate and a record collector at the same time. Anyway, punky rocky from New York with a singer who sounds like less gruff but equally badass Joan Jett; America’s answer to the Rezillo’s! Get on it, weirdo!
Ail Symudiad: Garej Paradwys
Probably never made it farther out than Cardiff because everything’s in Welsh, but they put out a surprising number of singles that were all pretty consistent throughout the 80s --I’m pretty sure this is their third one. Full of energy despite the weird guitar effect pedals used throughout the song and if you’re curious, they’re called Second Movement and according to Google Translate, this songs about partying in their garage. I don’t know, I didn’t go farther than their “Paradise Garage” song title.
The Elevators: Your I’s Are Too Close Together
The least punky song on here, but it did make me laugh out loud the first time I heard it. I mean, of all the reasons why he won’t go out with her, and he lists everyone one on here, her facial structure was the final straw. Probably a wee mean spirited, but the lyrics go perfect with the chorus, high notes on the lead guitar and all.
The Records: Starry Eyes
Saving the best for last. There’s no excuse, this should have been a huge hit. I mean, it’s great that we have our own song to share with our closest friends --for example, a heartbreaker of an ex or whatever it was you want to call it when we had an on and off again thing in 2012 introduced me to this and well, all it did was prolong some coulda-woulda-shoulda feelings that lasted a bit longer than it should have. Anyway, this song’s a power-pop masterpiece that, unintentionally or not, sounds like an unreleased Big Star track and it makes me angry that these guys got swept under the rug for whatever reason.
I’m tired and I’ve run out of adjectives, just like how I use to back when I (barely) made a living writing about music, no benefits, no thesaurus. Will try to write more about something like Atsushi Onita or how much I love The Great British Bake Off or something.
*Nothing made me feel more out of touch with underground/contemporary music when I had a hard time understanding what the big deal was with The Fiery Furnaces, but when I couldn’t get away from Animal Collective, that’s when I get up and settled into a WFMU k-hole. I can tell you the exact moment sometime around the end of 2007, on the 7 train heading into Long Island City for work, reading The Metro --I’m a sucker for free daily newspapers no matter how badly written, and came across their best album of the year list with Strawberry Jam being number four or something. “This album rules” the brief review started and once again, I just didn’t get it. I don’t always take part in any schadenfreude, but I’m glad significantly less people give a shit about them these days.

Yay the return of BACK AND TO THE LEFT! Don't worry, I pay attention to feedback and it'll only show up when needed and not every episode. I somehow left out JBL getting hit with a jacket last episode. Good job these are regular as E3 let-downs.
Judging by Twitter, half of Europe lost the signal when Brock/Joe went at it so if you're one of those that didn't lose it, well good for you but I stand by the Simpsons joke.
CZW and Zandig lever also returns for the first time in ages as I haven't been watching much CZW and not many clips have been sent my way. It's a Tournament of Death show so only the absolute best botches were used as I know many aren't a fan of the ultraviolent wrestling.
If your ending has been sent but not used it's because it was crap. OK, maybe not but there's a big pile-up as they're usually related. I have a whole bunch of Reigns/Strowman endings but they lose their impact if 3 are used in one video. So don't worry, they're in the pipeline.
Hopefully MITB will produce enough botches for the botch Gods. If not, I'll have Rawmania 1995 for next Friday.
That Piper clip has been debated for ages. I hope I haven't used it before, I've usually got a good memory for these things. YOU FEATHER-WEARING FUCKING FREAK.

Ryan Dilbert's 10-Count: Shinsuke Nakamura Doesn't Need Money in the Bank Win
1. MITB Not Necessary for Nakamura
The final image of Tuesday's WWE SmackDown featured Shinsuke Nakamura atop a ladder pulling down the Money in the Bank briefcase and staring at it with a palpable hunger.
That need not be how Sunday's pay-per-view ends. Becoming Mr. Money in the Bank would be superfluous for The King of Strong Style. He's a magnetic star who will easily earn his way into the WWE Championship, briefcase or no briefcase.
Shinsuke Nakamura grabbed the Money in the Bank briefcase on Tuesday in a potential preview of Sunday's PPV. Shinsuke Nakamura grabbed the Money in the Bank briefcase on Tuesday in a potential preview of Sunday's PPV.Credit: WWE.com The Money in the Bank concept is best suited for two types of wrestlers—the underdog and the slimy opportunist.
For the former, the briefcase offers a means to take down bigger opponents. We saw Daniel Bryan rip the world title from Mark Henry's mitts in 2011, for example.
WWE doesn't have to tell that kind of story with Nakamura. He could believably tear down Jinder Mahal's kingdom without the element of surprise.
He's not a plucky scrapper who needs a leg up. Nor is he the type of character who would wait for his prey to be half-eaten before pouncing.
Nakamura is a badass with a rock-and-roll sensibility. He's the coolest guy in the room, a gladiator who feeds on great competition, a two-time NXT champ who has taken down the likes of Samoa Joe and Finn Balor.
WWE would be better off building him up as a contender by having him kick people's heads in.
He can continue his current hot streak, beat up on midcarders and further excite his fanbase. After only being on the main roster since April, the focus, for now, should be for the audience to get know him better. There's no reason to have his journey climax with a world title reign anytime soon.
Letting anticipation build for a potential Nakamura reign is a smarter move.
And it's not as if he needs the Money in the Bank narrative device to get him a crack at gold. Believing that Nakamura holding the briefcase on Tuesday night meant he wouldn't win on Sunday, Jake Barnett of ProWrestling.net wrote: "I'm wondering if that means Nakamura goes after Kevin Owens and the US Championship next."
That's a more than plausible scenario.
Nakamura has already thrice pinned Owens. A U.S. title shot is a natural next step.
View image on Twitter View image on Twitter Follow WWE ✔ @WWE HE DOES IT AGAIN! @ShinsukeN has once again pinned #USChampion and #NewFaceOfAmerica @FightOwensFight on #SDLive! 6:57 AM - 7 Jun 2017  329 329 Retweets   638 638 likes Twitter Ads info and privacy And should he dethrone Owens at some point, Nakamura could easily move up to the WWE title picture. WWE has sold him as a big deal since the moment he signed with the company, hyping his debut and keeping him in the spotlight. It clearly holds him in high regard and has big plans for him.
That backing from the WWE machine will carry him to the top, no boost from Money in the Bank needed.
2. In Lesnar's Absence
Brock Lesnar stormed back into the Raw landscape on June 12 after not appearing for WWE since April 3.
In that span, the Universal Championship was an absentee title while the WWE Championship was handled far differently. Randy Orton and Jinder Mahal have both been far more prominent than The Beast Incarnate as their brand's top titleholders.
Universal Champion Brock Lesnar Universal Champion Brock LesnarCredit: WWE.com Raw's Payback PPV was sans title match. SmackDown, meanwhile, featured Mahal dethroning Orton at Backlash and will see those two go at it again at Money in the Bank on Sunday.
The Maharaja has defended the title in two dark matches as champion, per CageMatch.net.
And on SmackDown, Mahal stole the WWE Championship in a memorable scene. After winning it, Mahal gloated during a "Punjabi celebration."
While Lesnar had zero matches following WrestleMania, Orton took on Erick Rowan and Baron Corbin in non-title action as champion, as seen on WWE.com. On May 9, Orton battled in a six-man tag match. When Mahal won the title, the champ crushed Mojo Rawley's Money in the Bank dreams by beating him in non-title action.
One may argue that Lesnar's schedule makes him and the title feel special, but it's been far more entertaining to see what's unfolding with the WWE title scene.
3. Throwback Video of the Week: Mitsuharu Misawa
Mitsuharu Misawa passed away eight years ago on June 13, 2009, after losing consciousness in the ring. Hideo Itami paid tribute to the Japanese great on Twitter just before that somber anniversary.
It's only natural to start reflecting on Misawa's career and pulling up old clips of his work at this time of year.
Mr. Triple Crown's 2007 bout against Samoa Joe is one of his more underrated efforts. Misawa's elbow-strike acumen was on display here in a hard-hitting showdown.
It's hard not to feel melancholic looking back at Misawa in action, though. He is missed and will be for a long time.
4. Tozawa Must Avoid Titus Brand
Titus O'Neil is trying to recruit Akira Tozawa to a part of his Titus Brand, and the cruiserweight has to hope that partnership doesn't come to pass.
O'Neil has done next to nothing for Apollo Crews. His presence at Crews' side has only made him feel like a joke. O'Neil isn't adding spark to Crews' act. He's a flat character with a poorly defined "brand" that would only make Tozawa feel like a low-card also-ran.
View image on Twitter View image on Twitter Follow WWE ✔ @WWE VICTORY SELFIE = 💲💲💲 #RAW @TitusONeilWWE @ApolloCrews @TozawaAkira 6:20 AM - 13 Jun 2017  310 310 Retweets   905 905 likes Twitter Ads info and privacy WWE should instead be letting Tozawa tell his own story as he works his way toward a Cruiserweight Championship showdown with Neville. Lumping Tozawa into the tractionless Titus Brand is easy, not smart.
5. The Warriors Are Indeed Imperfect
The Golden State Warriors looked immortal en route to spanking the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals.
The new NBA champs, though, did give us an odd, bungled moment, like something straight out of Botchamania. Draymond Green tried to catch a tumbling Klay Thompson but struggled to hold him up.
MLB Network host Robert Flores noted it looked like a botched wrestling move:
View image on Twitter View image on Twitter Follow Robert Flores ✔ @RoFlo When you try to powerbomb your friend but totally screw it up.#NBAFinals 8:02 AM - 13 Jun 2017  65 65 Retweets   155 155 likes Twitter Ads info and privacy Green may not be able to snatch someone out of midair as gracefully as Cesaro, but he can sure kick a man in the onions on par with Undertaker.
6. A Welcome Invasion
New Japan Pro-Wrestling is making a concerted effort to break into the North American market, and that's a beautiful thing.
The Bullet Club and NJPW is headed to Los Angeles for the G1 Special on July 1 and 2. This is the just latest stage in the company's attempt to get a foothold in the United States.
Wrestling fans should be elated about this development. For one, NJPW has long produced some of the best in-ring action in the world. And if the company puts one more shows in the U.S., it means more American fans can discover talents like Kenny Omega, Kazuchika Okada and Hiroshi Tanahashi.
And over time, if NJPW can start siphoning WWE's fanbase, the biggest wrestling company in the world will be finally be invigorated by the power of competition. WWE's lack of real rival means it doesn't have to be as innovative, bold and aggressive as it was during the Monday Night War in the late '90s.
NJPW pushing WWE down the road would be huge for the industry overall.
7. History Awaits
The Money in the Bank PPV will be a landmark event for women's wrestling.
Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch lead the field set to compete in the first-ever women's Money in the Bank ladder match. The event promises to be statistically significant beyond that, too.

The 2017 edition of the PPV will be only the third time Money in the Bank has featured two women's matches on the card. And only one women's match has ever gone over 10 minutes at the PPV. None have reached the 12-minute mark.
That's poised to change as the Money in the Bank ladder match won't be contained in that small of a space.
8. Classic Brawls
Samoa Joe and Brock Lesnar's pull-apart brawl on Monday night was a beautiful sight to behold.
Those two hosses carried on a longstanding tradition of wrestlers going at it. Lesnar himself has been in his share of these scraps, tangling with Undertaker and John Cena in the past. Long before The Beast Incarnate reigned, though, wrestling's bruisers and behemoths were trading blows outside of the comfort of a sanctioned match.
Check out some of these wild brawls from decades past for a look at the art of the wrestling brawl:

Jerry Lawler, Bill Dundee vs. Larry Latham, Wayne Farris: Memphis Wrestling (1979) Ricky Morton, Eddie Gilbert vs. Atsushi Onita, Masa Fuchi: Memphis Wrestling (1981) Jerry Lawler, Tommy Rich vs. Dirty Rhodes, Ron Bass: Memphis Wrestling (1986) Abdullah the Butcher vs. Bruiser Brody: World Wrestling Council (1987) The Fantastics vs. The Heavenly Bodies: Smoky Mountain Wrestling (1992) Memphis was home to more than its share of these. There was always a chaotic energy pulsing through that territory.
Anyone who joins WWE Creative should be required to sit down and binge-watch old Memphis footage, looking at how Lawler and others gave the medium a sense of gritty realism.
9. Give Emma the Spotlight
Emma returned to Raw on Monday night after recovering from a shoulder injury.
She immediately found herself lost in a crowded stage as WWE crammed her into a six-woman tag team match. It wasn't a triumphant return. She didn't earn a win or lay out a rival. Instead, Sasha Banks bent her backward with the Bank Statement to force her into submission.
And with that, Emma stepped back into her place in the middle of the pack.
Too often, the company has presented Emma as just another member of the roster. She needs to be a bigger focus of the division, however. She's one of the more compelling female characters the Raw brand has to offer and a promising performer overall.
She excels as a cocky, vindictive heel. She's produced when given prime spots on NXT cards against Paige and Asuka.
Raw has to start showcasing her at that level.
She'd make an ideal rival for Banks or Bayley. She'd thrive as Alexa Bliss' right-hand woman, the obstacle babyfaces had to charge through to get to the champ. Anything other than making her ordinary is the way to go.
10. Scurll on the Danger of the Squared Circle
In the midst of an eight-man tag team match over the weekend, Mark Andrews rolled out of the ring and held his neck in pain. Moments later, medical staff carried him off on a stretcher.
And just like that, the thrill of in-ring WWE action turned to unsettling concern.
Andrews luckily escaped suffering a major injury. WWE.com reported: "A CT scan of Andrews came back negative, with just bruising evident."
Former Progress Wrestling world champ Marty Scurll tweeted about the power of the moment Andrews went down:

We've seen these athletes suffer broken necks and cervical damage. We've seen men die in the ring.
A healthy supply of cajones is among the many skills wrestlers must have in their tool box.
