These texts are not considered factual & are interpreted as a moral parable. Image I believe that during his research for the creation of the Vegapunk clones, Oda may have come across this legend associated with Pythagoras & decided to use it as an inspiration

Pythagoras represents the wisdom of Vegapunk. It could simply be that he feels that doing this is the wisest move for the ironic sake of self-preservation. Image

Based on Shaka's mysterious conversation with Dragon, it seems apparent that Vegapunk has an ulterior motive behind wanting the Straw Hats to save him.

It also seems to imply that Shaka was already somewhat aware they would be betrayed. Image Image Vegapunk has shown an interest in experimenting in to infinite energy resources & the creation of artificial Logia fruits. Egghead is also full of light based traps.

This makes it seem like Vegapunk secretly intends to capture Kizaru and conduct these experiments on him.

Pythagoras is also the Satellite #4, considered unlucky number in Japan because it sounds just like the word for death (shi 死 （ し ） ). There are many articles explaining it and even tetraphobia (fear to number 4) exists.

add depth to sanji's character ESPECIALLY during WCI. While he feels like a burden himself, he tells his friends the things he probably wished somebody told him. And at WCI sanji didn't have self worth and couldn't understand why he was worth anything anyways 3/5 but luffy helped him understand that! He told sanji that's he's just him and that's fine! Luffy loves him no matter what and sanji basically came to the realization that no matter what, he doesn't have to feel like a burden anymore because he has friends that prove otherwise 4/5 Sanji acting out that fight was not exactly the right thing obviously. He did what he thought he had to do at that moment, but came to realize that it's s ok to ask for help and his friends will always be there no matter what, because no one is a burden on that ship PERIODT 5/5

Luffy going to WCI in the first place would've been enough for Big Mom to send hired killers to East Blue and murder everyone at the Baratie, rendering all of Sanji's sacrifices useless
