One Night Stand Masterlist
(Baby Pull Me) Closer (ao3) - friendstothis Michael/Luke N/R, 4k
Summary: He was stunned for a moment by the sheer beauty of the boy standing beside him. With fire engine red hair and skin the color of porcelain, the boy was the most beautiful thing Luke had ever set eyes on. The blond let his eyes trace over the mystery boy’s features, from his light green eyes to his bright pink lips—lips that were now forming words that Luke had not heard.
or,
luke is finally done with finals, so he decides to celebrate like everyone else: by going to a frat party. that's where he meets michael, the porcelain god with bright red hair who he just has to have.
Complication In Your Heart (ao3) - DracosPubicHair Michael/Luke E, 29k
Summary: Michael has killed over 10 people and has never been caught, and maybe Luke is just as crazy.
Daisy (ao3) - boomerluke Luke/Ashton M, 121k
Summary: The last thing Luke expects when he wakes up hungover in the bed of his latest one-night stand is to come face to face with a freaking kid. But there she is all wild curls, thumb-sucking, and nonstop questions. Luke can't get out of there fast enough.
Ashton isn't the type to have one-night stands. He's a parent, after all. It was a mistake, and it won't happen again. At least that's what he tells himself when he comes back from his shower to find the naked college kid still in his bed, arguing with Daisy.
They couldn't be more opposites. At 25, Ashton has the responsibilities of two parents, raising his daughter and trying to pretend like he has everything figured out. At 21, Luke is a self-proclaimed Grindr god who doesn't care about anyone or anything but himself. So why is the universe (with the help of Michael and Crystal) so hell-bent on seeing them together?
extra credit (ao3) - galacticsugar Luke/Calum E, 7k
Summary: Calum smiles at the last person in line at the bar as he hands them their glass of wine, then turns to Luke and sighs heavily, crossing his arms over his chest. The material of his shirt wrinkles and folds and stretches in all the right ways. “From the first day of school after I moved here, I knew you were going to be a problem.”
“A problem?” Luke feigns offense, scoffing and sucking violently at his tiny straw, trying to get to the dredges of his drink. Calum rolls his eyes and starts making another. By the end of the night, Luke’s going to have the process of Calum assembling a California Dream emblazoned in his mind for eternity. “I wasn’t the one who showed up and immediately acted like I owned the place.”
i didn't know that i was starving till i tasted you (ao3) - irwah Michael/Ashton E, 3k
Summary: 'we just had sex and it's the morning after and i woke up to an empty bed and how could i be so stupid of course you left me alone but wait you're in my kitchen cooking me breakfast and i'm so relieved' au
if i could say the things i want to say (i’d find a way to make you stay) (ao3) - nothingliketherain (39_killer_queen) Michael/Luke, Calum/Ashton M, 23k
Summary: “What about you? What’s keeping you here?”
“My roommate has been telling me to come see his band for weeks, but I didn’t have the time until today,” the guy explains, frowning a bit. “I can’t find him though, maybe he’s also in the bathroom with someone.”
“Our roommates suck, pun absolutely intended,” Michael snorts. “You could leave though, assuming you have your keys and you drove here.”
“I did, I do, but,” he shrugs, giving Michael a slow once over, lips tugging up into a shy smile. “I think I’m gonna stick around.”
“And keep me company?” Michael asks, perking up slightly at the prospect.
“If you want.”
He smiles in delight. Suddenly, he doesn’t need Calum to hurry up. “I could use the company actually.” He holds his hand out, goosebumps breaking across his skin when the guy takes it. “I’m Michael.”
“I’m Luke.”
If it was just a one time thing, why are you still here with me? (I don't want you to leave) (ao3) - BrokenTailLights Michael/Luke T, 1k
Summary: Malum have a one night stand, but Michael isn't really that keen on leaving in the morning (and Calum isn't sure he wants to let him go)
or
ever heard of a one-night stand fic of pure fluff? here you go.
In The Dark (Like Meteorites) (ao3) - dafeedil Michael/Calum/Ashton E, 26k
Summary: Ashton falls for Calum at a nightclub, and then for Calum's boyfriend, too.
Of Kindergarten and Coffee Shops (ao3) - onceuponatime Michael/Luke, Calum/Ashton M, 19k
Summary: Michael has a one night stand with Luke and can't get him out of his head.
running on the music and night highs (ao3) - thisismydesignn Luke/Ashton/Troye E, 4k
Summary: Set the night of the 2018 ARIA Awards. Ashton and Luke invite Troye back to Ashton's hotel room. It's possible they have ulterior motives. It's more than possible Troye doesn't mind.
tracing constellations (ao3) - galacticsugar Luke/Calum E, 15k
Summary: Luke’s eyes seem to be spinning when he arches an eyebrow at Calum and playfully says, “Really? You asking me to come home with you?” against Calum’s ear.
"Yes, really,” Calum says, blinking in confusion. “The fuck have we been doing tonight if it doesn’t end with you in my bed?”
we're dancing in my living room, and up come my fists (ao3) - hideforalifetime Luke/Calum M, 12k
Summary: "Ash, I had another email left to send-" Luke tries to reason, but Ashton won't let him.
"Nuh-uh," he wags his finger in Luke's face. "That's enough workaholic-ness for one day. Come on, let's go stare at fit shirtless guys."
Luke chokes on his latte. Sixth coffee of the day. "When you put it like that-"
Ashton fixes him with a knowing look. "Well, am I wrong?" He asks, arching an eyebrow. *** Luke is wound up way too tight, and he's been hurt way too many times. Is it wrong for him to be scared? Then, again, who wouldn't be scared of a super fit guy who is super hot, and just happens to be a fighter in Pro MMA? Luke doesn't know what he's in for, but he hopes it won't end like the other times.
Wherever I Lay My Hat (ao3) - merlypops Ashton/Everyone, Ashton/Liam, Luke/Liam E, 209k
Summary: Ashton learns that home can mean people and not places, and that fitting in is not the same as belonging, but it takes a broken heart, double-crossing a gang, and almost losing everyone he cares about before he realises this.
White Noise (ao3) - merlypops Luke/Ashton E, 7k
Summary: Luke and Ashton have massive crushes on each other, Ashton throws a party, and all of Luke's dreams come true. (Maybe they're a tiny bit in love too. Maybe.)
will we talk? (ao3) - strxngersagain Michael/Luke E, 4k
Summary: Michael tries not to make a habit out of having one night stands.
Sure, he’s had his share of a few no-strings-attached hookups in his otherwise relatively uneventful dating history. But he’s found over the years that it usually just tends to make him feel worse, waking up in the morning to an empty bed at worst, or an awkward conversation and a hasty exit at best. So, Michael has set his sights on not sleeping with anyone until he’s known them for at least 48 hours, at minimum.
So far, it’s gone pretty well.
Until he meets Luke, that is.

Waking up in Jin’s bed the next morning could have been awkward.
You were both pretty used to waking up next to people you’d barely be able to recall the name of, either slipping out before they woke up or making small talk over coffee before leaving them with a simple “see you around.”
You were more than used to sharing a bed with people whom you had no sexual interest in. Where waking up involved sleepy whispers and promises of coffee and breakfast before both of you stumbled into the kitchen in comfortable silence.
But this? This was foreign to you both.
And it had potential to be very awkward.
But it wasn’t.
As the heat of sharing a bed itched you to sleep, you groaned at the uncomfortableness that came with falling asleep fully clothed, as you moved away from the source of heat on your right, mind still lazed in sleep. Sitting up to tear the heavy fabric of your sweatshirt from your body, you threw it across the room before letting your body fall back against the bed again, relishing in the cold air of the room kissing your heated skin.
Taking a few heavy breaths, your eyes fluttered open to take in the room around you. Confused for a second at not being met by the sight of Hoseok’s room, you turned your head and caught sight of the man sleeping soundly on the pillow next to you. Hair sticking in every direction and mouth wide open as his snores filled the room, he was far from the poised handsome man, who had everyone on campus charmed. But for you, seeing him like this only made you enthralled, as you took in the details of his face. The small stubbles grazing his otherwise smooth face and the few misguided hairs in his eyebrows.
Not even processing what happened before you did it, your hand reached to smooth them out, but mere millimeters before your hand touched his face, your phone went off from its discarded position on the floor.
“Shit,” you whispered, as you quickly rolled over to reach it and turn it off before Jin woke up.
Seeing Hoseok’s name flash across the screen, you quickly swiped to answer it and tiptoed out of the room with one last look at Jin before you pulled the door closed behind you.
“Hi,” you whispered into the phone as you shuffled down the hallway to make yourself some coffee.
“Why are we whispering?”, he whispered back on the other end of the line, making you grin in glee and let out a small giggle.
“No reason. Just didn’t wanna wake up J-” Widening your eyes at how close you were to let Jin’s name slip, you quickly covered up your mistake by chuckling knowingly. “You know, I wanna say Jonathan but honestly I can’t remember his name.”
Hearing Hoseok’s laugh ring out in response, you sighed in relief as you secured the phone between your ear and your shoulder and started making a pot of coffee.
“Oh well. Is it the same guy as the other day? Cause then I really thing you should make an effort to remember his name, love.”
“Wouldn’t you like to know,” you hummed with a soft smile. Though you couldn’t tell him that the guy was actually his housemate, there was nothing stopping you from talking about what happened in general, right?
Right.
“Do I detect a loving smile in your tone?”, he cooed with a fond laugh. “Miss Y/l/n, did you start dating someone and forgot to tell me?”
“The smile is for you, you idiot. But yes, I might have met up with the same man twice,” you laughed, hopping up on the counter as you waited for the coffee to finish.
“And you didn’t tell me? I am hurt!”
“You’re so annoying, Hobi. I’m telling you now, aren’t I? Stop playing so insulted all the time.”
Laughing at the whines coming from the other end of the phone, your mind took you back to the night before as well as the night you and Jin had shared together and an involuntary smile made its way on your face.
“Can I at least know who he is? Do I know him?”
The excitement was clear on his voice, and you could clearly imagine the way his giddy smile would make his eyes sparkle.
“Let’s just go with Jonathan for now,” you chuckled, happy that you at least didn’t have to lie about everything to your best friend. “If things continue, I might introduce you two.”
“Hmm. So I don’t even know him! How did you manage to find someone on campus that I don’t know?”, he asked, clearly already trying to piece together who your mystery-man could be.
“Seok, I’m not telling you anything,” you laughed. “Now come on, tell me about you and your family. What have you been doing?”
Answering with nothing but a chuckle, he started telling you about what he had been doing and how much his mom still asked about you.
“You know, I really do think you broke her heart a bit, Y/n,” he joked, knowing how much you hated disappointing his mom.
“Wow, Jung. Really? That’s a low blow. You know how much I love her! Please hug her and apologize again from me!”
“I’m just teasing, Y/n. She knows. She just misses you, that’s all. So do I btw. I think I might come back a day earlier, so we have some time to hang out before the others come back.”
“We hang out all the time, Hobi,” you laughed. “Just last week, you said that the holiday would be good for us, because we’d been together too much.”
“That can’t be,” he gasped in horror. “I would never say such a thing. And I even if I did, that was last week, and this is this week and I miss you. So I will hear no more complaining from you, young lady.”
“You know I hate when you call me that,” you scolded weakly, though you couldn’t keep the smile off your face.
“I know. Which is why I’m saying it,” he insisted proudly, making you roll your eyes in endearment. “So you can expect me to be home tomorrow evening, young lady. And Sunday we’ll do our thing and watch some movies, maybe even do one of those face masks you’ve been ranting about the last few days.”
“Yeah? You really want to do one of the face masks?”
“Of course! Who doesn’t love a good face mask?”
“Oh, I can think of one person, who doesn’t,” you hummed, laughing when Hoseok started guessing again about who this Jonathan was.
You really wanted to tell him about Jin and everything that was happening here, but you knew that the relationship between you and Jin still was on very thin ice and there was no need to jeopardize that with gossiping.
“So is there really no other news, babe? How long has it been since you went a week without any drama? Must be nice, huh? What are you using all that saved up energy on instead?”
Biting your lip in annoyance at how he seemed to know just what to ask, you scolded yourself for not telling him about the job application earlier. Jimin already knew, and you told Jin about it the other night because you had been a nervous wreck after the deadline had come and gone without any news from the professor.
Slaving through the hours at the café, what had really kept you going was the idea of getting to work with something that you actually found interesting instead, but it had been complete silence from the professor. Groaning when you thought about it once more, you poured yourself a cup of the fresh coffee and went to living room to bundle yourself up on the couch.
“No more news, no. But I did forgot to tell you that I applied for a job at one of the laboratories on campus a few weeks ago and the deadline for applying was this Monday and I still haven’t heard anything,” you sighed, quickly running him through the details.
“Well that sounds amazing, but you do realize that they need time to sort through the applications as well, right? Give them some more time before you give up,” he offered encouragingly, and you could hear the smile in his voice as he did so.
“You’re right, Seokie. Thank you.”
“Of course. Alright, I have to go help mom with the breakfast. But I’ll see you Saturday evening, yeah? Bye, babe!”, he called out before disconnecting the line before you even had time to return the goodbye. Removing the phone from your ear with a slight chuckle, you set down the phone next to you and dedicated your full attention to the coffee in your hands.
A few minutes later, Jin’s figure shuffled into the living room with a yawn.
“Morning,” you offered hesitantly, not sure where you were with each other after last night, but when he turned and gave you a sweet smile and melodic greeting back, your worries melted away.
As he joined you on the couch with his own coffee, you sat in silence for a few moments as the tension made the air around you thick and hard to breath.
“So,” you trailed off, offering Jin a hesitant smile. “I know you don’t want to talk about yesterday, but I think maybe we should. At least just to clear the air.”
He nodded slowly in agreement, though his eyes never rose to meet yours. He did however shift a little in his seat to rest his arm comfortable on your thigh between the two of you.
When he didn’t speak, you took it upon yourself to break the ice.
“You were right to call me out on the way I’ve been acting towards you,” you started, feeling your hands get slightly clammy. Despite how much more comfortable you had gotten with each other, this was still something you felt like wouldn’t work with Jin. Talking honestly about how you felt. Talking out an argument. But you were willing to give it a chance. “And as I said last night, I am sorry. But I feel like something triggered you yesterday. And you don’t have to tell me exactly what it was, but would you like to talk about it a bit?”
As your voice died out, the room fell back into silence as the man next to you did nothing to respond to your words. But you saw the way his jaw clenched and the furrowing of his brows. He was clearly still affected.
“Listen, you don’t have to tell me everything, but please let me in a little,” you pleaded with him, not missing the way his eyes briefly shifted towards yours. “I don’t want to upset you like that again, but in order to avoid that I need to understand what happened. This is how a friendship works, Jin. You share stuff with each other and do your best to understand the other person.”
“Why are you getting all shrink-y with me? I’m fine now. There is no need to analyze it,” Jin laughed nervously as he patted your thigh in an effort to reassure you.
“I’m not getting shrink-y,” you argued, fighting back the urge to roll your eyes. “I just want to help.”
“Y/n, I’m fine,” he laughed, finally looking you in the eye with a strained smile. “We talked it out yesterday.”
“No, Jin. We didn’t. You went your room-“
“Yes, and you followed me and then we slept. I don’t understand why it’s so important to you to talk about this,” he groaned with an eyeroll, making your blood simmer.
“Because something I did triggered you enough for you to start crying in the middle of an argument, and I need to know what it was, so I won’t do it again,” you insisted through clenched teeth, putting your cup down on the table and turning towards him with your arms crossed.
“Jesus, Y/n. I did not cry, alright! And even if I did, we are not talking about it. So quit it!”, he exclaimed in a defensive tone, mirroring your crossed arms, and meeting your eyes in defiance.
“Fine!”, you yelled, matching his volume and glaring at him in annoyance. “If you don’t want to talk about that, will you at least tell me why you’re not home with your parents this week? Cause I’m not buying your excuse about not wanting to go home.”
“Are you serious right now? Just let it go, will you?”, he groaned, getting up from the couch and walking away.
“And now you’re leaving again? Are you serious, Jin? If we’re going to make this relationship work, you need to work with me!”, you exclaimed in frustration, only realizing the word you’d used after it slipped your lips, causing you to widen your eyes in surprise and Jin to turn towards you again with equally wide eyes and an amused smile lurking in the corner of his mouth.
“What did you just say?”
“Relationship,” you repeated firmly, not shying away from his scrutinizing eyes or backing down when he stepped closed. “A friendship is just as much of a relationship as a romantic one is.”
Though that was true, you were fairly sure that he knew you were just using it as an excuse right now.
“Is that so?”, he hummed with a smirk and a cocky lift of an eyebrow, chuckling lowly when he saw the slight blush color your cheekbones. Closing the remaining space between you with a single step, he leaned down, so his mouth was hovering just behind your ear. “And are we sure that what’s happening here is just a friendship?”, he spoke in a hushed tone, causing shivers to appear where his warm breath met your skin. He ran his arm along yours and softly grabbed hold of your hand, gingerly intertwining your fingers with his, before pulling back to meet your eyes. “Are we?” he asked again, with the same cocky tone he always used on girls he wanted to get with.
It made your breath hitch and your heart start pounding, but when he met your eyes you noticed something.
His eyes were different from that first night you had shared.
Despite the complete power display, he had going on now, his eyes were soft and pleading, filled with adoration and not a hint of lust to be found.
Keeping his hold on your one hand, he slowly lifted his other hand to your face, letting his index finger carefully trace your jawline and tilting your face towards his with an assured smile.
“I thought we agreed on no flirting?”, you asked breathlessly, never breaking eye-contact, but almost losing your senses when you felt his breath on your face when he answered.
“Who says I’m flirting? Maybe I just felt like kissing you.”
Blinking in astonishment as you absorbed his words, you cocked your head slightly and sent him a small smile.
“Do you?”
Smiling at your question, he nodded his head softly and leaned forward to rest his forehead on yours.
“Can I?”
Feeling your breath getting caught in your throat all you could do was nod as your eyes were held captured by his.
Closing the distance between you, he placed the softest kiss upon your lips. Barely more than a peck, but enough to make both of you sigh in content.
Nudging him with your nose, you begged for one more as you lifted yourself on your toes to connect your lips once again, this time with an urgency you hadn’t realized you were feeling. Feeling Jin smile into the kiss, made your heart flutter as you withdrew from the kiss with a giggle, reaching up to cover your mouth with your hand as the giggles bubbled out of you, earning you a fond grin from the man in front of you.
“I can’t believe we just kissed,” you giggled with sparkling eyes.
“Wanna do it again?”, he teased, as he leaned in again, only for you to softly push him back.
“No, wait. This isn’t gonna work,” you spoke in sudden seriousness, eyebrows now furrowed in worry. “Jin, we’re not even supposed to like each other. All we ever do is fight and you’re not even supposed to be here and in theory this never happened and I-“
“Hey, calm down, Y/n,” Jin shushed with an enamored smile. “No need to get carried away. It was just a kiss. And we don’t have to decide on anything right now. We still have two days before the others come home.”
“Yes, but then what, Jin? You don’t want them to know why you’re here, and there is no way to explain this without telling them that,” you reasoned, your mind now working on overdrive to process what was happening and what consequences it would birth. “And by the way, I think I’m entitled to an explanation on that now.”
Chuckling nervously, he pulled you into a hug and caressed your back soothingly.
Dammit. You were right, he realized. He really hadn’t thought this through.
“Can we at least just relax and enjoy it today? There is really no idea in panicking until at least tomorrow,” he argued, trying to sound like he had a plan, when in reality he was freaking out.
Why the hell did he kiss you? Yes, he did want it and he didn’t regret it, but what now? You were right. There was no way this would ever work. What had he been thinking?
“I am not sleeping with you again, just because we kissed, Jin,” you scoffed with an eyeroll as you pulled yourself out of his embrace. “Especially not when you’re still not being honest with me.”
“Are you seriously using sex as bait now?”, Jin laughed in disbelief, making you squint your eyes at him and shake your head in amazement at his comment.
“No, Jin. I am not using sex as bait. I am telling you, that I won’t sleep with you again. This is never going to work anyway,” you stressed, stepping even further away from him and crossing your arms in front of you.
“We already kissed!”, Jin exclaimed in exasperation. “Hell, we even had sex. Why are you freaking out about a kiss?”
“Because I wasn’t planning on this, Jin! I didn’t plan on this whole mess to happen between us and effect all the others as well. I didn’t plan on you being here this week, and I didn’t know we would end up actually enjoying each other’s company. And I definitely didn’t plan on you kissing me! Why do you think I wanted the house to be a sexless and non-flirty zone? You flirt with anything that moves, Jin! And you don’t even care! I wasn’t going to let you charm me. And then somehow you managed to do it anyway without any flirting. I wasn’t planning on falling for you, because I know you would never care! So yes, I am freaking out about a kiss and I think I’m entitled to do so!”
You were close to tears in pure frustration and your breathing had gotten out of control, as you defiantly stared him down. You wouldn’t let him toy with you anymore. He wasn’t worth it.
“How can you even say that? You really think, I wouldn’t care?”, he whispered in disbelief, taking in your angry stance and hurt eyes. “After everything that happened this week, you really think I don’t care? Why do you think, I avoided you after we slept together? Cause it’s not because I hate you, I’ll tell you that much!”
“Oh, get off your high horse, Jin! Don’t act like you actually care! You just want me to sleep with you again, so you can hang on to your pathetic title of the only one everyone comes back to seconds for!”, you shouted at him, the tears now pressing on your vocal cords. “I am not going to be another one of your second rounds.”
Your voice broke as you stared him down, refusing to step down even as the tears blurred your vision.
There was no answer and as the silence stretched between you, he felt utterly lost. He had no idea how to make things better, how to make you believe him, how to fix this.
“This is not happening, Jin,” you sighed, when the silence had gotten almost deafening, turning around to hide yourself in Hoseok’s room. All you wanted was silence and preferable a hug from your best friend.
“I didn’t go home, because I got kicked out by my parents,” Jin blurted out in a panicked voice before he even realized what he was doing. “I’m not welcome in my own childhood home. Which sucks, cause I borrowed a book from Namjoon last time I was there, and now he’s asking for it and I have no way of getting it back,” he laughed cynically, keeping his eyes trained on the floor in front of him, too scared to check if you were still in the room or if you had actually left him alone.
“Which book?”
Your voice was flat and devoid of feeling, but it was still your voice and it evoked a feeling of hope in Jin’s heart.
“The Nix.”
“That’s a good book.”
Your words hung in the air between you. Like a peace offering waiting to be accepted, though in this moment it wasn’t clear who had offered it.
“I’m not at Hoseok’s because my parents aren’t going be there and it hurts too much doing the traditional stuff without them.”
Your words caused Jin’s head to snap up and find you standing aimlessly in the middle of the living room. He had overheard some of the conversations between you and Hoseok and he knew about the rumors going around on campus about what had happened to your parents, but he never actually heard you talk about it and Hoseok always said it wasn’t his story to tell.
Maybe the two of you had more in common than he had thought.
His mind was a chaos of questions, but there seemed to be an understanding between you to not dig any deeper than these confessions, so instead of asking any of them he simply walked up and enveloped you in a hug.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t want to hurt you. However you want to handle this, I’ll support it,” he mumbled against your hair, before pressing a kiss to the top of your head. “Wanna go to bed?”
“It’s not even noon yet, Jin,” you chuckled in a flat voice, though it calmed you down having Jin’s arms around you.
“We don’t have to sleep. We can just cuddle. Maybe nap,” he offered with a gentle smile, as he reached up to wipe a stray tear from your cheek and cradle your head closer to his chest in the process.
“I could use a nap,” you agreed, letting him lead you back into his bedroom, where your sweatshirt was still lying on the floor as a reminder of how little time had passed since this morning.
Tumblr media
You spent the entire day in bed, drifting in and out of sleep, enveloped in each other’s arms, sharing kisses and cuddles, lazy compliments and sleepy smiles. When you got hungry, Jin cooked the both of you some food and brought it back to the room, where you both ate from the same plate, silently enjoying the food and each other.
Not once did any of you mention the subject of tomorrow. Too afraid of breaking the bubble around you, you tiptoed around the sensitive subjects and made sure to only touch upon safe areas.
But as nighttime rolled around and you were both too rested from a day of napping to sleep, the inevitable question got impossible to ignore.
“What do you want to do, flower?”, Jin whispered against your temple, as you lay cuddled against his side, one leg thrown over his and your arm draped across his stomach.
“I don’t know. I don’t want to do anything. This sucks,” you sighed, pouting as you pressed yourself closer to his side. “We don’t even know what this is yet and now we just have to end it.”
“No one says we have to end it,” he reminded you softly as he ran his fingers through your hair. “We just have to act like we don’t like each other again and then work up towards where we are now. Like when we’re with the others. But when we’re alone, we can still be like this.”
“But how would that even work, Jin? We hated each other before. I don’t think I can go back to that,” you sighed, recalling some of the arguments you had had over the past few weeks.
“I never hated you. I just found you infuriating,” he chuckled, which turned into a loud laugh when you smacked his chest.
“Well, I found you absolutely impossible and I really did hate how you treated me,” you reminded him. “I’m serious, Jinnie. I’m really not sure, I can go back to that.”
You pushed yourself up from his chest and lay down next to him instead, propping your head on your hand as you looked down at him.
“It’s either that or we give up now,” he reminded you with a gloomy voice, offering you an apologetic smile as he reached up to push some hair behind your ear.
You both knew there was another solution, but you didn’t dare bring it up to him. If he wasn’t comfortable telling his housemates about his family situation, then you weren’t going to push him. You had promised him to keep it a secret and you weren’t going to break that promise.
Though it would solve everything.
“Alright, fine,” you sighed, smiling fondly when he leaned in to press a kiss to your cheek in gratitude. “We’ll stick with the plan from before all of this and act like this week never happened,” you declared, though the dread was already heavy in your stomach. There was no way this was going to end well.
Tumblr media
Waking up the next morning, you were once more met with the interior of Jin’s room, though you felt the dark clouds over your heart the second you opened your eyes.
Hoseok would get home today.
You would have to lie to your best friend.
For him. For Jin. Was he worth it?
As if on cue the man in question reached out and pulled you towards him entangling his legs with yours under the blanket.
“I can hear your brain panicking, flower,” he mumbled sleepily against your hair as his arms snaked around your waist, pulling you even closer in his embrace. “Relax. Hoseok isn’t going to be home until tonight. And we’ll just tell him that I went home early. He won’t question it.”
“I don’t like lying to him, Jin. I really hate it,” you groaned, biting your lip as the concern overtook your actions.
“Hey, come here,” he whispered, turning you around to face him. “Don’t bite your lip. It will just start bleeding,” he tutted, tapping your bottom lip with his finger, making you blush in embarrassment. “Look, I know you don’t like it, but it won’t be for long, alright? It took us a week to get here, so we won’t need more than maybe two weeks of this show before we’re back here, yeah?”
Allowing his words to comfort you, you leaned into his touch with a nod and let his hands caress you in all the right places for your mind to let go of the worry.
Tumblr media
When you emerged from his room an hour later, it was hand in hand and lazily trotting towards the kitchen with Jin’s voice promising you a delicious breakfast and fresh coffee.
While he got started on the food, you went to search for your phone which you were fairly sure you’d left in the living room the day before.
Immediately spotting it on the couch, you happily reached for it and unlocked it while walking back to the kitchen, scrolling through all the missed notifications.
Clicking on your conversation with Hoseok first, you found 7 unread messages from him and 4 missed calls.
“Jinnie, Hoseok wrote me,” you spoke in a small voice, making Jin turn towards you from the stove. “He already left his parents place this morning. He’ll be here in less than 30 min.”
Meeting Jin’s shocked features, you knew they provided a perfect mirror for your own face at the moment.
“Okay, so it will be a bit sooner than we thought, but that’s okay, Y/n. We know what to do,” he reminded you, abandoning the stove to pull you into a tight embrace. “It’s okay. We can do this. Do you still want breakfast?”, he asked in a worried tone, pulling back to take in your already clouded feature.
“No, please just give me some coffee. I’ll just…” you trailed off, looking around the kitchen where you had shared so many happy hours with him in the last week. It didn’t feel like your space in anymore. Like it had already expelled you. Even Jin’s red speaker in the window suddenly seemed foreign to you. “I don’t know what I’ll do.”
“Just wait here for the coffee, will you? Just stay with me until it’s done,” he pleaded with you, sensing the inevitable in the air as well.
“Of course,” you answered, reaching up to cup his cheek with your hand, sending him a reassuring smile in the process.
While the coffee brewed you stayed glued to his side, not even stepping back when he turned back to the stove to cook some breakfast despite you declining it.
When he held the coffee cup out for you, your heart was pounding and you had to force yourself to accept it, fighting back the clump in your throat, when you thanked him with a strained smile.
“I’m gonna go to my room. Just in case he comes home earlier. But please eat something, flower,” he spoke softly, leaning down to press a sweet kiss to your lips before turning around and walking out of the kitchen, leaving you alone.
The 10 minutes that passed from Jin leaving you in the kitchen to Hoseok stepping through the front door felt like an eternity to you as each tick of the clock reminded you of the upcoming challenge.
“Babe? I’m home,” Hoseok yelled out as he stepped through the door, immediately calling out for you like he always did.
“In here, Seokie,” you answered with a strained smile from the kitchen, though the second your eyes fell on your best friend you couldn’t help but grin at him. He looked so happy to see you and you really had missed him like crazy.
“Hi Y/n,” he hummed as he threw his bags on the floor and walked up to give you a bone-crushing hug, humming in content when he heard you giggle in response. “Man, I’ve missed you. Teasing my sister just isn’t the same without you.”
“I’m sure, you did just fine without me, Seok,” you chuckled as you returned the hug.
“So? How did everything go? The house is still intact I see,” he teased, making you scoff in feigned annoyance at him. “And where is this Jonathan fellow? Do I get to meet him?”
“Unfortunately, he already went home,” you grinned at him. “Is that why you came home earlier? You were hoping to meet him?”
“If that was the case, I wouldn’t have written you that I was coming home,” he answered knowingly, as he tickled your sides lightly making you shriek out a laugh. “No, I came home because I missed you, and I didn’t want you to be alone today.”
“Seokie, I’m fine,” you reassured him, pulling back to send him a smile as you reached for your coffee again.
“Hmm. Sure, then why have you only been calling me Seokie, since I stepped through the door?”
He cocked his head slightly and gave you a concerned one over, before his eyes met yours again, just in time to catch you rolling your eyes at him.
“I just like the sound of it, Hobi. Trust me, I’m fine, okay?”, you chuckled, though your hands had gotten clammy at his comment. You should have been more careful with the names. He really was a bit too attentive.
“Alright,” he hummed, though he didn’t seem too convinced. “So, tell me about Jonathan! How often did you see him?”
Chuckling at your best friend’s excitement on the prospect of dating news, you figured it couldn’t hurt to play along. Really it was a small lie in comparison with the other.
“Actually, he stayed here the entire week,” you giggled, feeling your cheeks flush at Hoseok’s excited screech.
“Miss Y/n Y/l/n, I never thought this day would come!”, he giggled like a schoolgirl, making you shrug your shoulders with a grin. “Is he treating you right? I need to meet him to make sure he’s right for you,” he declared with a sudden seriousness to his voice and a stern look.
“Hobi, he’s sweet and caring. You really don’t have to worry,” you laughed at him, making him snap back into his bubbly self.
“And how is he in bed?”, he asked, wiggling his eyebrows knowingly.
“Oh no, I’m not sharing that with you, Hobi. If this turns into a real thing, I don’t need you knowing that,” you chuckled, snorting out a loud laugh at his insulted look.
“You find yourself a man, start dating him and then you won’t even introduce this Jonathan-dude to me? I am insulted, Y/n,” he teased, though his eyes sparkled in glee.
“Who’s Jonathan?”, Jin’s voice interrupted, making both you and Hoseok turn around to find Jin leaning against the doorframe with an annoyingly uninterested look on his face.
Showtime.
“Hey man, when did you get back?”, Hoseok asked with a wide smile.
“Just got back this morning,” he shrugged, not even bothering to look at you. Damn, this was going to be harder than you had thought. “Who’s Jonathan?”, he repeated.
“Y/n’s new man. Apparently, he’s been staying here with her the entire week,” Hoseok shared excitedly, too happy for you to be bothered with Jin’s moody self.
“She stayed here the entire week?”, he asked with a cocked eyebrow and a tint of disgust on his face. “With some random guy? I hope you’re going wash the sheets before going to bed tonight, Hoseok. You never know what they might have been carrying.”
Jaw dropping in pure shock, your mind had a hard time catching up to the situation unfolding in front of you. You knew the deal had been to go back to how things had been, but you had still hoped for at least a less annoying version of him, and instead you got this.
“You are unbelievable, Jin. You really are.” Your voice was icy, and your stare was nothing short of murderous.
“Jin, just quit it, will you? Why do you insist on being such an ass?”, Hoseok sighed in exasperation at his friend, who still looked utterly unimpressed.
“Just let it go, Hobi. I don’t care. He’s not worth it,” you interjected, starring Jin down while doing so. “Let’s just go to your room and let Jin have the rest of the house so his ego has enough space to unfold.”
Pushing Hoseok in front of you, you sent Jin another deadly glare, catching him mouthing an apology with pleading eyes before he disappeared out of sight.
As you pushed Hoseok into his room, you caught sight of the book, you had pulled out of your bag the previous day and placed on the desk.
Just the sight of it made your blood boil.
Giving Hoseok a quick excuse about using the bathroom, you grabbed the book off the table and crossed the hallway in long strides, throwing open Jin’s bedroom door and finding him sitting on the edge of his bed with a broken look on his face.
The second you stepped through the door, he got up to walk towards you. He felt terrible for what he had said, and he wanted to apologize, but before he could get a word out, you beat him to it.
“You fucking asshole!”, you whisper-yelled, as you threw the book at Jin’s surprised face only missing him by a few centimeters and hitting the wall behind him. “You’re such an idiot. This is what I get for keeping your secret for you? This is your way of saying thanks?”
“You were the one who said to act like it never happened?”, he countered with an annoyed look on his face, crossing his arms in front of him suddenly not feeling too bad about his word choice.
“Yes, but I didn’t tell you to go back to treating me like absolute scum! How the hell could you think that was okay?”
“Oh, come on! You should know by now, that I don’t mean any of it,” he laughed in disbelief, reaching out to pull you into a hug only to have you push away his hands.
“Oh, really? That’s your counterargument, Jin? Are you serious right now?” If it hadn’t been for Hoseok’s presence in the house, you would have been screaming at him by now, but you had to continue arguing in hushed voices. “The only reason we had to do this, is because you don’t want to come clean to your housemates, Jin! I agreed to lie to my best friend for you and this is how you repay me?”
“Are you blaming me for this?”, he asked in disbelief, though he couldn’t fight down the guilt squeezing his heart.
“Yes, Jin! I am! I blame you! You lured me in with your caring words and you pretend domestic aura and then you turn around and treat me like this? Wake up! This is all on you!”, you argue with eyes widened in anger and disbelief at his arguments.
“Oh, stop playing so holy,” he scoffed at you, almost losing his breath from the guilt tearing in his chest. “You agreed to this! I didn’t do anything wrong.”
Snorting out a laugh of disbelief, you could do nothing but stare at him with utter disgust on your face, making him visibly shrink back in front of you.
“You are by far the biggest dick I have ever met in my life, Jin, and only in the wrong ways! You act like you own the entire world, you manipulate and deceive the people around you and then whine about people not liking you. I’ve seen you actually act like a human being this week and you know what? I really liked that Jin. But this,” you gestured to him with angry movements. “I want no part in this Jin. This is over! And I really mean that, in case you weren’t sure.”
As you slammed the door behind you on your way out, Jin deflated in on himself as your words echoed through his head. Casting down his eye in defeat, he caught sight of the book you had thrown.
There is was, staring back at him from the floor with its condemning cover.
The Nix.

Cuddling meant nothing. Cuddling meant nothing. Cuddling meant nothing.
Like a mantra, Jin chanted the words internally as the movie played on the screen in front of you.
No flirting. Nothing.
Gritting his teeth as he tried to pick up the movie playing on the screen once more, he reminded himself of how you always cuddled whoever was closest to you. It didn’t even have to be someone you knew. You were just always touching the person next to you. So that you were pressed against his side now with an arm draped across his stomach meant nothing, right?
Of course not. Before you had slept together, you had often cuddled him. Granted not alone in the house while watching a movie, but backhugs weren’t uncommon nor was the occasional shoulder rub.
Suddenly a lightbulb lit up in Jins head and he widened his eyes in realization.
If you didn’t consider cuddling to be flirting, then he could be as clingy as he wanted these days! No strings attached. No hidden meaning. Just free uncomplicated cuddles for an entire week!
Grinning at his own discovery, he suddenly felt way more at ease at the prospect of spending an entire week alone with you. He would just direct all his flirting into cuddling, and you would never need to know.
Settling deeper against the backrest of the couch, he confidently pulled you tighter in his embrace, making you look at him in confusion.
“What are you doing?”
“Just getting more comfortable. I’m getting sleepy and I don’t want to have neck pain from sitting in a weird position if I fall asleep,” he reasoned, doing his absolute best to hide his mischievous grin, when you simply shrugged your shoulders and allowed him to rest his head on the top of your head.
Fighting back the victorious smile from appearing on his lips, Jin took a deep breath as he tried to calm his heart. Despite the comfortable silence between you, the coziness of the blankets around you and the calmness of it all, he felt a tinge of danger in the air. Like a false sense of security.
He was so used to being on high alert around you that it felt wrong to actually be at ease with you.
“Can I ask you something?”, he asked, voice hesitant and slightly slurred as sleep had already seeped into his vocal cords.
“Yeah?”
“Why aren’t we fighting right now? You usually hate me. What changed?”
Biting back a chuckle, you reached up to ruffle his hair slightly and heard him hum slightly in response.
“You did, Jin. You usually treat me like dirt, but you’ve been nice to me today, so I’m reciprocating that,” you spoke sincerely and giggled slightly when you saw him frowning in confusion. “It’s really that simple. You’re nice to me, I’m nice to you. If you treat me like you have been before, I’ll give back just the same.”
Silently taking in your words, he kept his gaze on the movie in front of him.
“So if I’m nice to you and treat you well, you’ll be nice to me as well? We can go back to being friends?”, he asked slowly as if picking out each word carefully, like a kid learning something new and repeating it back to make sure they actually understood it right.
“Sure. When you stop treating me like an unintelligent object that you only want to sleep with, then yeah, we can be friends,” you shrugged, shifting slightly so his head wasn’t resting on you anymore and you were able to face him instead. “I mean that, Jin. I never hated you, but I did hate how you talked to and about me.”
Giving him a slight glare at the memories, you saw him wince and avoid eye contact just the same as he had when you confronted him about calling you a whore.
“I know, I was an idiot,” he admitted, giving you a sheepish smile. “I’m really sorry. I promise I won’t treat you like that again. I really do want us to be friends and honestly I think it would make everything easier.”
Now it was your turn to tilt your head in confusion, only making Jin roll his eyes at you.
“Oh, come on. We both know this has been awkward for the others. Me constantly disappearing, us fighting all the time. We’re like an old married couple who should really just get a divorce, but we haven’t even been dating,” he chuckled with an amused smile as he got up to fetch some water, leaving you alone to sort through your thoughts.
Sure, you knew everyone had been a bit on edge, but had it really been that bad?
Vaguely remembering Hoseoks reminder for you to try to not disagree with more of his housemates, your felt a twinge of guilt shot through your chest. Maybe this whole thing with Jin had gotten out of control, you mused as you looked towards the sound of him moving around the kitchen. If that was true, then Jin was right. You should at least try to make it work. If anything, then for Hobi’s sake. You didn’t want to be the reason he disagreed with his housemates.
Tumblr media
And you did make it work. The two of you spent the weekend bundled up on the couch watching movies, eating Jins excellent cooking and actually getting to know each other. Though most of the time was still spent squabbling and teasing each other, the air between the two of you had gotten a lot lighter and the teasing a lot more friendly.
As the weekdays rolled around, you found a new rhythm; you went to work in the morning and when you got home, Jin had cooked dinner for the both of you. There were no problems, no arguments, no name-calling and more importantly, there was no flirting at all.
Walking home Thursday evening, you found yourself actually looking forward to coming home to Jin and as you opened the door and was met the heavenly smell of roasted lamb, you bit your lip to contain a giddy giggle of happiness.
“I’m home,” you called out, as you slipped off your shoes and tossed your bag next to the couch, before walking to the kitchen, where Jin greeted you with a casual smile from his hunched over position in front of the stove.
“Hi flower! How was work?”
Grabbing a piece of carrot off the cutting board and popping it in your mouth, you gave him a smile and a shrug as you hopped up on the counter next to the stove.
“Fine. Can’t complain. The receipt printer is still broken though, so I had to write all the receipts by hand,” you chuckled with a headshake as you munched on your snack.
“And you’re laughing at that?”, he asked with an amused smile playing on his lips, eyes still locked on the content of the pots on the stove, as he carefully stirred the content.
As per usual when he was cooking all his focus was on the food. Carrying out a conversation was somewhat possible, but you had quickly realized that he never looked away from the food for too long.
“Yeah, well,” you shrugged, taking advantage of his distracted state to observe him. Actually, observe would be the wrong word to use. You were blatantly staring at him, but you couldn’t help it. There was just something unbelievably comforting about seeing him move around the kitchen so confidently as he cooked. “I couldn’t fix it or do anything about it, so there wasn’t really any point in getting annoyed.”
“Oh? So I guess you won’t be needing the bottle of wine I bought you?”
Widening your eyes at his words, you let out an excited giggle as you hopped off the counter and practically skipped the few meters to the fridge and eagerly pulled out the wine with a wide grin.
Turning around to find two glasses, you missed the way Jins eyes had followed your happy steps with a fond smile and how he was now shaking his head with a soft chuckle, before he turned back to the stove.
Walking back to him, you carefully snuck your arms under his to give him an awkward backhug, holding both glasses in front of his chest to make sure you wouldn’t spill it.
“Thought so,” he hummed with a knowing smirk as he accepted one of the glasses and clinked it with yours, before you withdrew from the embrace taking your glass with you.
“How did you know I would like a glass of wine today?”, you asked, as you hopped back up to your vantage position now with your wine in hand.
“I didn’t really,” he shrugged with a cheeky smile, as he put the wine glass down on the opposite side of the stove. “But I figured it couldn’t hurt to have a bottle around.”
“Kim Seokjin,” you scolded with a laugh clinging to your words. “Are you trying to get me drunk?”
“From a shared bottle of wine?”, he snorted out in a laugh, as he sent you a sassy smirk. “I know you well enough to know, that it takes a lot more than that to get you drunk.”
“That’s rich coming from you, Mr. the-mininum-of-shots-per-round-is-5,” you countered, as you raised a knowing eyebrow at him.
“There is no need to drag the eyebrow into this, missy,” he scolded, reaching up to tap his index finger against said eyebrow, causing both of you to break out in cackling laughs.
“So what did you do today?”, you inquired as you crossed your legs under you on the tabletop and took a sip of your wine.
“Not much. Went for a run, walked around town for a bit -” waited for you to come home – “nothing too wild,” he ended, sending you a small smile before turning off the stove and arranging the food on plates for you. “So what do you want to do tonight?”
“Uh, I was scrolling through insta on my break and found this recipe for a homemade facemask, I wanted to try,” you explain excitedly, while accepting the plate he offered you. “It’s like moisturizing and supposedly really good. I’m gonna try and make it after dinner and probably watch a series while it sits.”
“Mind if I join you?”, he asked, smiling at the way your face lit up in excitement.
“Sure, I can make like a big portion so there’s enough for both us,” you nodded as you dug into the food, already doubling up the quantities it would take to make enough for two facemasks in your head.
“No, that’s not what I mean,” Jin chuckled anxiously, feeling his ears burn in embarrassment. “Why would I want to do a facemask? I just wanted to join you for the tv series.”
Raising an eyebrow at his statement, you tilted your head as you calmly finished chewing the bite in your mouth, before answering him.
“Why wouldn’t you want to do a facemask? It’s simple skincare, Jin.”
“Isn’t it a bit girly to do facemasks?”, he snorted, only making you squint your eyes at him.
“It’s a facemask, Jin. How on earth do you find that girly? Skincare isn’t gendered.” You tone was teasing, but the ice behind your words was hard to miss. “Besides, we agreed that this house would be both sexless and genderless this week, so even if it was, your words has absolutely no weight here,” you spoke in a firm voice, popping another piece of food in your mouth as your calmly observed him. “Your sexist understanding of the world has no hold in this house, Jin.”
Feeling your eyes piercing through his and hearing the firmness in your voice, left him feeling like a little boy after a scolding, and his ears burned as he thought about how incredibly stupid you must think him to be.
That was until he heard your giggling ringing through the room, making him snap his head back up to find your eyes sparkling and your face split in a breathtaking grin.
“I’m just toying with you, Jin,” you laughed, only feeling slightly guilty for the horrified expression on his face. “You are wrong though. Very much so. But this lamb is so delicious that I’m gonna let it slide,” you winked at him, as you took another bite. “And we’re both gonna do the facemasks later, because it will be good for us and I really want to do this with you.”
Turning back to your food, you missed the way Jins face scrunched up in irritation at your words.
“Has anyone ever told you that you’re unbelievably bossy?”, Jin scoffed, as he tried to stop his heart from galloping away in panic at the mere thought of making you angry at him again.
“Of course,” you giggled with a mischievous grin. “Hobi says it’s one of my key characteristics.”
“Well, he would know,” he muttered under his breath, as he silently finished his dinner, only faintly aware of you talking about the annoying customers you had had that day.
Pushing his food around in his plate, he felt annoyance stir in his veins. This wasn’t the first time you had shot him down and sure, he had said some incredibly mean things to you at some of those instances, but enough was enough.
“Remember, when you told me that how you treat me depends on how I treat you?”, he asked, interrupting your story about the non-fat double chocolate girl and making you slightly flustered, as you simply nodded with wide eyes at his firm tone and stern eyes. “Well, I’ve been nothing but kind to you this week. Cooking for you, buying your favorite snacks and drinks. Hell, we only watch the movies you want to watch, because God forbid, we watch something without a female lead,” he mocked with an eye-roll, as he forcefully put his unfinished plate down on the counter with a loud clank, making you flinch in surprise. “And I can live with that. But you need to stop treating me like a child. You boss me around, you mock me and you make me feel like the most idiotic person on the planet. Yes, you might know more than me about certain things, but there are other ways of letting me know that, than rolling your eyes and belittling me! I need you to stop it!”
With each word his voice rose and by the end he was heaving for air and had his fists clenched by his side, as he all but glared at you.
Eyes still widened in surprise by his outburst, you found it impossible to break the intense eye contact between you, as you took in his clearly frustrated state.
“You’re right,” you spoke softly, as realization hit you. “I’m so used to being on the fence about people being assholes to me, and you used to be one of those people. But you’re right. You’re not anymore, so I shouldn’t have kept treating you like one. I’m sorry, Jin.”
Your apology was sincere and the second Jin heard it in your soft voice, the anger evaporated and left him feeling empty. Not even better, just empty.
“I- Yes, exactly!”, he rushed out, frantically trying to hang on to the anger, causing you to smile gently at him.
“You’re not used to people apologizing to you, are you?”, you asked him softly, as you slowly slid down from the counter and walked over to his side and gingerly wrapped your arms around him as if afraid of breaking him. “I’m sorry, I belittled you. I really am. And I promise, as long as you’re kind to me, I won’t be such an asshole to you. But please stop being mad at me. I don’t like seeing you upset,” you spoke against the fabric of his hoodie, turning your face slightly and pressing a kiss to the soft skin on his neck.
Hugging him in complete silence, you allowed him his time to calm down, and when you finally felt his arms snake around you, you squeezed him tighter for a moment, squinting your eyes shut in the process when you felt him shake slightly in your arms.
“I’m sorry, I yelled at you,” he mumbled against your hair, his voice slightly unstable as he kept his hold on you firm. He felt the tears pressing for reasons he didn’t understand, he definitely didn’t need you to see them.
“’s okay. At least you didn’t call me any names this time,” you joked against his chest in an attempt to lighten the mood, though shock shot through you, when you realized what you had just said.
Pulling back from the hug with eyes widened in regret of your own words, an apology ready on your lips, it was all forgotten the second your eyes fell on his tear-glazed eyes.
“Oh, Jinnie. Please don’t cry. I’m sorry,” you rushed out in concern, as you reached up to cup his cheek, only to have Jin swat your hand away and walk away from you as an incomprehensible sentence left his lips, leaving you to look after his figure in bewilderment as you saw him disappear into his room and close the door after him.
“Dammit,” you whispered to yourself, as you felt the ache in your heart at his tears. Shuffling your weight from one foot to the other as you contemplated what to do, you felt completely torn and aimless as you stood alone in the middle of the kitchen. “You really should just leave him alone,” you muttered to yourself as your feet slowly carried you towards his door. “You really shouldn’t meddle. He obviously didn’t want to talk about it,” you scolded yourself quietly, as you stopped in front of his door.
Raising your hand to knock, you let it hover over the wood for a second, before letting your hand fall back against your side and leaning your head against the door frame.
He didn’t want your help. That’s why he walked away. You knew this. You needed to respect his boundaries, you reminded yourself. He had just scolded you for treating him like a child, and here you were ready to barge into his room to console him, like some overprotective mother. Lifting your head from the doorframe, your gaze stayed locked on the door, as if trying to see through it and make sure Jin really was alright on the other side. As the sight of his tear-filled eyes popped into your mind again, it took everything in you to not barge through the door to get to him.
Forcefully pulling yourself back from his door, you steered yourself to the kitchen and quietly started cleaning up with a sigh.
Normally the process would be accompanied by music from Jin’s little red speaker sitting on the windowsill, but it felt disrespectful to play it without him, so you worked in silence, packing up the leftovers, washing both the dishes and pots and pans and wiping down the counters.
As you finished, all that was left was the half-empty wineglasses staring back at you from the otherwise empty counter. Glaring at them in annoyance, you let out a sigh of defeat as you picked them up and cleaned them up as well. Staring around the empty and clean kitchen, you felt fidgety and aimless.
“What now?”, you sighed to yourself, as you thought back to your original plan.
You were definitely not in the mood for facemasks or tv series. Throwing a look towards the hallway and Jin’s room, you felt your feet carry you towards him once more, and this time you made no attempt to stop yourself.
When your knocks sounded through the hallway, your heart leapt into your throat and for a second you contemplated just slipping into Hoseok’s room on the other side of the hall and acting like you were never there.
“What?”
His voice was gruff and definitely not inviting in any way, but you couldn’t help it. You needed to make sure he was okay.
“Can I come in?”, you asked hesitantly, hand already resting on the doorknob.
“Why?”
“I just want to make sure, you’re okay. You don’t have to talk about it, if you don’t want to. I just want to be next to you. If you’ll let me.”
Your heartbeat pounded in your ears, and when you finally heard his accepting grunt, you let out a breath you hadn’t even realized you had been holding, as you pushed open the door to Jin’s room.
The room was unlit and the light from the hallway threw long shadows on the opposite wall. You hadn’t been in there since that night, you realized as you closed the door behind you and carefully made your way across the room towards the bed, where Jin was lying on his back looking up at the ceiling.
Carefully taking a seat next to his figure, you were reminded of how he had been sprawled out on the bed sleeping the morning after when you had left the room. The memory left a faint smile on your lips, as you fiddled with your hands in your lap to keep yourself from reaching out for him.
Lifting your head to look at him, you found him already looking back at you. In the dark of the room, his eyes rested on your features and yours on his as you carried out a conversation though none of you uttered a single word.
I can’t talk about. I don’t even know why. I’m sorry, his eyes pleaded, making your heart soften.
You don’t have to, yours reassured him, as your hand fell into his giving it a comforting squeeze.
Lie with me?, he asked, as he gave your hand a barely existing tug, making you smile gently as you nodded and curled up next to him on the bed.
Feeling his arms settle around you and hearing the distraught sigh of contentment leaving his lips as he pulled you closer, strung your heartstrings even tighter than they had already been, and you felt a lump forming in your throat.
Goddammit, Y/n! What the hell is wrong with you, you scolded yourself mentally. Don’t tell me this is all it takes for you? You see him cry once and suddenly you’re back in his bed again?
Trying to distract yourself from your own head, you focused your energy on softly tracing patterns on Jin’s shirt, very careful not to get too close to his pants, as you were suddenly awkwardly aware of what had happened last time you were here.
This is ridiculous, you thought with an eye-roll.
You cuddled with all the others all the time. This was no different, you reminded yourself as you walked yourself through all the times you had cuddled with the others. Hell, Jungkook had even cupped your ass in his sleep once, and there was absolutely no awkwardness between the two of you.
And just as you had succeeded in calming down your mind, you heard a soft snore coming from the man next you. Lifting your head to look at his face, you found his features smoothed out in his sleep. Smiling at his peaceful state, you decided that leaving him to get some rest would probably be for the best, but as you tried to free yourself from his grasp, he stirred slightly in his sleep rolling onto his side and tightening his hold on you.
“Stay with me, flower” he whispered into the darkness, and though you had no idea if he was still sleeping or awake, you felt no need to argue with him, settling deeper against him and closing your own eyes.

A/N: Hi everyone! I hope you’re all doing well? I am sorry for the long wait, but life has been an absolute mess, and my love for writing kinda wilted for a while. I’m slowly finding it again, but regular updates won’t be something I can promise in the near future. Sorry! But thank you for waiting patiently for me and I hope you enjoy this update!

“Just… We can stay here, both of us. If you feel more comfortable with it, we can just act like we don’t know each other. Like we just share a kitchen. Or I can make sure to not get in your way and stay quiet. Or I can cook for you and we can eat together? Only if you want of course. Just. Whatever you feel most comfortable with. Just please don’t tell the others I’m here as well.”
His words were pleading, and his eyes widened in fright. Not of you. You were quite sure about that. But he was definitely afraid of something. He should be the one in control here. The one with the power to throw you out on your ass. And yet he was asking you for a favor.
“Okay. I won’t tell them. But I have a condition as well?”, you half stated, half asked, looking at him hesitantly, only to get an eager nod back. “No sexist comments. No flirting. No cheesy lines. No commenting on my body. This house will be a genderless, sexless, non-flirty safe-zone for the first time in it’s life,” you stated in a declarative tone, earning a snort of laughter from Jin.
“Whatever you say,” he laughed at you, and you found yourself grinning back at him.
Oh, this could be interesting.

“Great! Then I’m gonna go shower,” you beamed, waltzing past him and into the bathroom. “If you want, we can have breakfast together afterwards?”, you inquired from your brief stop in the doorway.
Jins face lit up in a relieved soft smile, as he nodded eagerly.
“Sure, I can cook us something?”
“Sounds heavenly,” you hummed before closing the door behind you, leaving Jin in the hallway.
Okay, Jin. You got this, he thought to himself as he made his way to the kitchen. All you gotta do is be nice to her. No flirting. You can do it!
As he continued his inner pep-talk, he rummaged through the fridge, pulling out the ingredients he needed. Luckily, he had been grocery shopping yesterday, so he actually had everything he needed to make you a nice breakfast. Humming lightly as he cracked the eggs over the bowl, his mind started to wander. How come you hadn’t gone home with Hoseok? He had been so certain, that you would change your mind and go with him, but it seemed Hoseok had failed to convince you. What could be important enough for you to stay here? Probably work, but still. You had never turned down time with Hoseok and his family before.
Starting the rice-cooker, he couldn’t help but snort out a laugh. Who was he to judge? He was hiding in his own house from his own housemates, because his parents didn’t want anything to do with him. He was in no position to pass judgement on anyone at the moment. Briefly wondering what he would do if you asked, he shrugged of the thought as he chopped some vegetables for the pan. Why would you ask? Odds were, that you would eat when he cooked for you, briefly say hi in the hallway if you bumped into each other but stay on your own the rest of the time. You had shown no interest in him before. This set-up wouldn’t change that.
“Oh, you already cooked,” you hummed in appreciation as you walked into the kitchen, making Jin freeze on the spot. He felt caught in the act, even though he hadn’t voiced any of his thoughts out loud, and it took him a millisecond to snap out of it.
“Yes, I did,” he stated, still staring at you as you moved further into the kitchen to see what was in the pans. Say something else, you idiot. “It will taste egg-celent.” Anything but that.
Widening his eyes at his own failure of a joke, he took in your equally puzzled look, before your eyes lit up and your face split in a huge grin, as you laughed at his joke.
“Omg, Jin. That was awful,” you laughed with your head thrown back as you repeated the joke to yourself, making him smile sheepishly as well. As you smiled at him with your twinkling eyes, he felt his stomach somersault and his cheeks flushing.
“It does smell egg-celent though,” you joked, throwing him a wink as you helped yourself to some eggs, fried vegetables and the crispy bacon. Pouring yourself a glass of juice, you hoisted yourself up on the counter to eat, since the frat house of course didn’t have a dining room table. “So, what are you doing today?”, you asked just as Jin had stuffed his face full of rice, making you giggle as he sent you an exasperated look.
Uncomfortably aware of his still flushed cheeks, he hurriedly chewed through his food, almost choking on it as he swallowed.
“I actually don’t have anything planned. Might just lounge around and watch a movie or something,” he finally answered, making you look up from your plate with a soft look. The sun was shining in through the window behind you, making the air around you glow.
“Mind if I join?”, you asked, cocking your head in a manner scarily resembling Hoseok, making Jins lips turn up in a half smile, as he nodded to your question.
It was kinda endearing how close the two of you were, and how you had picked up on each other’s mannerisms. Like the head tilt or how Hoseok always cuddled the person closest to him. Although that might have been something you picked up as well, Jin mussed. Honestly, you were so close that it was hard to distinguish who used to do what. It was just really cute. Cute in the same way as how half of Hoseoks storage space in the kitchen was used for your snacks, and how he kept old sweatshirts around because he knew you liked to sleep in them.
As you rambled on about which movie to watch, Jin thought once again if there really wasn’t anything going on between you and Hoseok. You had slept in his room more times than he could count, you were always wearing his clothes and Hoseok never failed to take care of you, even camping out at your apartment for a week that one time you had gotten a really bad case of the flu. He was constantly attuned to your mood and needs, moving around thousands of other plans so he had time when you did. Even though he would never admit it, Jin knew that Hoseok had arranged all his lectures around your schedule last semester so he could walk you to class on Mondays and have lunch with you on Tuesdays and Fridays. The other boys had teased him about it countless time, but he always just shrugged it off without a comment.
“Jin?”, you asked with a giggle, literally snapping him out of his thoughts, when you snapped your fingers right in front of his face. “You there?”
“Yes, sorry! Just zoned out for a second,” Jin chuckled, shaking his head a bit. “Whatever movie you wanna watch, is fine with me.”
“Great! ‘27 dresses’ it is!”, you beamed at him with a mischievous giggle, making Jin smile softly.
“Sure, whatever you say.”
Whatever keeps you smiling and laughing like that.
As Jin cleaned the kitchen – your idea – you went to get your computer from Hoseoks room. Grabbing it off the bed, you saw your phone blinking with an unseen notification. Before you even had time to check it, it lit up again, flashing Hoseoks picture across the screen as he tried to reach you.
“Hobi!”, you squealed in excitement, as you secured your phone between your shoulder and chin, grabbing the glass of the table with your now free hand. “How are you? How was the feast yesterday?”
“Hi Y/n. You’re on speaker with the rest of the family, so don’t say anything stupid,” he warned you and you could hear both the laugh in his voice and the smack someone gave him on the back of his head.
“Can’t top anything you’ve said anyway, Seokie,” you laughed, as you walked back to the kitchen to deposit your glass. Jin was standing by the sink, drying the last plate, and he turned towards you with a panicky expression when he heard you mention Hoseoks name, to which you simply rolled your eyes and held your finger to your lips, so he would stay quiet.
“Y/n, honey. We miss you here. I really wish you would come by at least for a few days,” Hoseoks mom spoke up. You smiled softly at her words and was about to answer her, when you heard the tone indicating, that they were trying to video chat you. “Let me at least see you, so I know you’re doing well.”
“Ehm, now is not really a good time,” you stuttered, almost dropping your phone in an attempt to decline the request only to accidentally accept it and make Hoseoks entire family show up on your screen. Letting out a little squeal you quickly whipped around so the camera wouldn’t show Jin in the background.
“What are you screaming for? It’s just us,” Hoseok laughed, taking in your rather flustered and panicky state, as you threw a look over the phone only to find the kitchen empty.
“Ehm. Sorry, I just tripped walking into the kitchen,” you quickly lied, as your eyes darted around the room trying to locate Jin. “How are you guys?”
“Hun, you don’t look so good,” Hoseoks sister cooed, moving her head closer to the screen to get a better look. “Are you sure you’re alright?”
“Oh yes, I’m peachy. Just a bit tired, I guess.” Sending her a quick smile, you slowly made your way around the kitchen island.
“Peachy, huh?” Hoseok repeated, and you could easily hear the smirk in his voice. He knew something was up. Dammit. Taking the last step around the corner you found the kitchen completely empty, making you whip around in confusion.
“Yes, I’m fine. Don’t worry about me,” you smiled sweetly, as you tried to figure out if Jin was really gone. Goddammit.
“Uh-huh,” Hoseok laughed, walking away from his family. “Y/n, just remember to change the sheets, yeah?”, he laughed wickedly into the phone, as he switched the video off.
“Huh? What are you talking about, Hobi?”
“I saw the dude in the background,” he snickered, making you gasp loudly. “Y/n, I don’t mind. Really. Just please wash the sheets before I get back, alright. I won’t bug you anymore. Have fun, alright? Bye babe!”
Removing the phone from your ear, all you could do was stare at it dumbfoundedly, before you groaned in frustrating. Great. Now you would need to figure out a cover story for who you were with.
“Jin!”, you roared. “Where the hell are you?
As he sheepishly stepped out from his hiding place the behind the door frame, you sent him a stern look.
“What on earth were you doing? You told me not to tell the others! You need to help me keep that promise!”
“Hey, I wasn’t the one who chose to video chat all of the sudden! And I literally dropped to the floor, when you answered, alright!”, he yelled back, adrenaline still pumping from crawling around on the floor to stay out of sight. “You see this?”, he asked, lifting his shorts so you could see the bruises already forming on his knees. “I was a freaking ninja, thank you very much.”
For a second complete silence hung over the kitchen, until you couldn’t help but burst out laughing at Jins wronged look as he was still pointing to his knees. Jin was completely taken aback by your sudden laugh and simply blinked at you as you doubled over in laughter.
“Omg, did you really just call yourself a ninja?”, you asked between laughs, making Jins face split in a grin as well.
“Hell yeah, I did. You did not see what I did to stay out of sight,” he laughed with you, relishing in how easily the atmosphere went back to being relaxed and happy.
“Oh, please show me,” you pleaded with a twinkle in your eyes, and it took nothing more for Jin to throw his body on the ground again, causing you to actually crouch on the floor and clutch your stomach from laughter as the tears sprang from your eyes. Dragging his body over the floor in a mock-version of how he did it mere minutes before, had you howling with laughter as you rolled around on the floor. Hearing him grunt and huff as he dragged himself around the kitchen island and his face popping up as he made it back to your side made you absolutely loose it, as you grabbed onto his arm, throwing yourself across his chest as your laughs echoed through the kitchen. Simply happy to have you near him, he let his arm rest across your back, as you both laughed it out.
Drawing one last deep breath, you settled against his warm chest, feeling it rise with each breath he took. He was comfortable. At least now, you reminded yourself. Well, he was comfortable that night as well. He just hadn’t been comfortable since. Jin had a way of holding you so you felt safe and cared for – the same way that Hoseok made you feel safe.
Lifting your head, you rested your chin on your hand looking up at him.
“Can I ask you something?”, you spoke softly, afraid of breaking the bubble of trust and intimacy around you.
He placed an arm behind his head, and you felt his long fingers on the other hand ghost along your spine.
“Sure, what’s up?”, he hummed, making you shiver lightly at the sound of his deep voice.
Damn. No wonder, he was such a hit with the women on campus. He knew exactly how to reel them in.
“Why aren’t you home with your parents?”
You felt him tense up at your words, his fingers stopping in their path as he drew a sharp breath.
“I didn’t want to go home this year,” he spoke through tight lips. It wasn’t exactly true, but it wasn’t a lie either. “Why aren’t you with Hoseok? Or your own parents?”, he countered.
“I have work,” you spoke, lying back against his chest as you felt his fingers start their journey again. “And papers I have to turn in. God, I feel like college is just an endless line of papers, that you need to turn in.” Groaning at the thought you felt the chuckle rumble through Jins chest.
“Alright, so you’ll work, come home and I’ll have dinner on the table. I can be the perfect housewife to your working man,” he joked, making a smile tug at your lips.
“The idea of the wife staying home and the man working is so archaic though,” you huffed in slight annoyance. “But I appreciate the thought! Maybe I can be the working woman, and you can be the perfect spouse?”, you suggested with a snort.
“I don’t even get to be the husband or man?”, Jin whined in feigned outrage, making you laugh again.
“Nope,” you stated, popping the p. “Remember, this is a genderless zone.”
“Well, then you can’t be a working woman either,” he countered, making you giggled again and he relished in how you tightened your hold on him when you laughed. “You would be a working… specimen!”
“Why can’t I just be a human?”, you whined between laughs.
“No way. Human is too ordinary. You could also be a working flower?”, he suggested, making you look up at him with slightly squinted eyes.
“I thought, we agreed on no flirting?”, you teased with a wicked grin.
“Oh, I am not flirting,” Jin said in a very serious tone. “I am simply naming genderless nouns. There is also cat, dog, kitten, baby, house, tree, bench, doll, sofa, cupcake…”
“I’m pretty sure at least a few of those are used as pet names regularly, but alright,” you stated matter-of-factly, enjoying the banter.
“So you’re telling me that by calling you doll, I am actually allowing you to chose your own gender?”, Jin asked, a laugh lurking just below the words.
“In theory, yeah. But a doll is inanimate. It has no soul, choices or actions. It’s not even alive,” you argued, involuntarily scrunching your nose at the name.
Jin stayed quiet for a second, musing over your words.
“But that means, I can call you flower, right? It’s genderless but still alive, and I know for a fact, that most flowers move during the day to keep their petals towards the sun, so it’s not inanimate and it has actions,” he finished with a proud smile and glowing eyes, causing you to shake your head at him with a giggle.
“Fine, I’ll allow ‘flower’, but nothing else!”
“Oh, I will never need another name for you, my flower,” he teased, lightly tickling your sides to make you roll off him. “And now to the living room, my flower!”
Jumping to his feet, he held out a hand for you and pulled you off the floor, before actually skipping into the living room with you giggling on his heels.
“You know, you’re really nice to be around, Jin,” you laughed at him, as you let yourself fall back against the couch. “Like I knew you were fun, but I really enjoy being around you. When you’re not flirting that is,” you reminded him, making him widen his eyes at you.
“Moi? Flirting? Je ne ferais jamais,” he pouted at you with a wicked glint in his eye.
“You speak French?” Widening your eyes in surprise, you gave him a smack on the arm. “So when I was struggling with that intro course on French Philosophers, you could have helped me?”
“That was honestly the only course I ever aced,” he countered with a shit-eating grin, making you huff out in annoyance. “Oh, come on, flower. None of the other guys know about it either. There is no need to get your panties in a twist.”
Turning towards his computer to find the movie, he missed the slight blush sneaking up your cheeks by how casually he had slipped in his new nickname for you. Sneaking a glance at him, you admired his features as he clicked around on the computer. It was easy to dismiss his good looks when he was being an ass, but now when he was actually acting like a human being, it was impossible to overlook.
“Alright, ’27 dresses’, right?” Turning to you for confirmation, he found you already looking at him with inspecting eyes. “Ah, you checking me out, flower? I thought you said no flirting. Flowers really do turn towards the sun,” he teased you, making you roll your eyes and give him a light shove.
“The only sun in my life is Hobi, and we both know you could never compete with him for that title,” you countered, before settling back against his side, cuddling closer to him. “But flowers need water as well.”
“Are you calling me a sea?”, he scoffed in annoyance at the nickname, although it was hard to stay mad with you cuddling him.
“Flowers can’t grow in saltwater. They need clear water. Like from the rain.”
“So, I’m rain to you? Cold, wet and unpleasant?”, he frowned, making you giggled at his hurt tone.
“I happen to like the rain,” you hummed, as you pressed play on the computer. “It symbolizes growth and a new start. What’s not to like about that?”

Story starts under the cut
Tumblr media
As the last papers got handed in before the spring holiday and campus became close to deserted, you packed your weekend bag and made your way to Hoseok’s house. All the guys were going home during the break, and Hoseok had suggested you stayed at the house while they were gone to catch up on your sleep. After the sleepover in the living room the previous weekend, you had spent most nights with Hoseok, opting for sharing his bed instead of lying awake in your own, so when he suggested you stayed in the house over the break, you quickly accepted, rambling on about how you would clean the common areas as a thank you.
“Hobi,” you shouted as you walked through the door, hoping to catch him before he left. “I’m here!”
“In here!”
Following his voice to his room, you found him packing his bags, clothes neatly folded on the bed and the bags on the floor. You tossed your bag against the wall and giggled in excitement of getting the house to yourself for a week, as you walked up to give him a back hug, clinging to him like a koala as he continued packing.
“You’re in a good mood today,” he hummed absentmindedly as he held two shirts out in front of him. “Which one should I bring for my mom’s birthday dinner?” Twisting his torso so you could see the shirts, you hooked your chin on his shoulder as you took in the options.
“That one,” you stated, pointing at the simple white shirt. “But pair it with one of your more casual pants.”
Accepting your advice, he folded the shirt neatly again and placed it in the half-packed bag on the floor.
“You know, you’re still more than welcome to come home with me, right? My mom asked for you again just last night, when I was on the phone with her.”
“I know,” you hummed, giving his mid one last squeeze before jumping on the bed and making yourself comfortable. “But I’m fine with staying here. It just doesn’t feel right anymore. It feels…”
“Like something’s missing?”, he ended your sentence, cocking his head and looking at you with a soft expression. You nodded silently, letting out a deep sigh and rolling over on your back. “Yeah, I know. But it feels even more empty without either of you there.”
Musing a bit at his words, you stayed quiet and focused on the wooden panels on the ceiling, tracing the wood grains with your eyes. You stayed in comfortable silence as Hoseok packed the rest of his stuff and zipped up his back.
“Alright, babe. I’m leaving now. Try not to burn the house down, while we’re gone,” he grinned at you, before ducking away from the pillow flying at his head.
“There is nothing to burn down, Seokie,” you laughed, getting off the bed and walking over to give him a hug.
“’Seokie’, huh? You okay? You only call me that, when you’re feeling down,” he asked against your hair, as he fitted you perfectly under his chin.
“I’m fine, Hobi. Just looking forward to some days alone and some more sleep.”
“Alright. I left the key on the desk, and there is a bottle of your favorite wine in the kitchen. I also bought some of that god-awful coconut ice cream you love so much. Oh, and some of your favorite snacks…”
“Hobi, stop,” you giggled, making him halt in the middle of his rambles. “I can take care of myself for a week. I’m not an infant. But I do love that ice cream, so thank you.”
“… and a few packs of the ramen you always eat,” he ended his sentence after your interruption, making both of you burst out laughing. “I know you can take care of yourself. I just want to help you take care of yourself. And please call me if you need someone to talk to. Or call my mom! If you want. She would love to talk to you as well! And my sister as well!”
“Oh my god, Hoseok! Stop! Just go! You’ll be late for the extravagant dinner, that we both know your mom has prepared for her golden son’s return,” you laughed, pushing him towards the door.
“Alright. Alright, I’ll leave,” he grinned, putting his hands up in surrender. “But please promise to call me, if you change your mind? The drive is only two hours, and I could easily come pick you up.”
“Sure, I promise. Just please leave. You’re crowding my personal space, which has just expanded to the entire house, and I’m not happy about it,” you scolded him with a wicked grin, as you gave him one last push out of the front door.
“But I love you! How can you throw me out like this?”, he screeched dramatically from the front lawn, catching the attention of some of the neighbors. “I promise, I’ll remember to take out the trash from now on! Please just give me another chance!”
“Jesus, Hoseok. Really?”, you groaned in embarrassment at the puzzled looks being thrown your way. “You’re such a drama king! Just go already and say hi to your mom from me!”
“Oh, but mother will be heartbroken at your departure from my life. Please, my flower! Don’t throw me out!”
“Please, do throw him out. He’s way too dramatic for this house anyway,” Yoongi drawled as he walked up next to you, bag slung over his shoulder. “Hoseok, could you drop me off at the train station?”
“You insult my honor and then you ask for a favor?”, Hoseok gasped in feigned outrage, before dropping the act and laughing at his own joke. “Sure, but I’m leaving now.”
Giving you a quick side-hug, Yoongi scurried to the car and they drove away, but of course not without Hoseok screaming his love for you out the car window all the way down the block.
Grinning at his theatricalities, you walked back into the house and pulled the door closed. Looking around the living room, you let the quiet sink into your bones. There was no Jungkook yelling at some game he was playing. No Taehyung running around rambling about the latest class he had had about German romanticism. No Hoseok screaming at… well, just screaming in general. The entire house was dead quiet, and something told you not to disrupt it as you tiptoed through the living room, down the hall and into Hoseok’s room. Closing the door softly, you buried yourself under the covers, breathing in that familiar sent of Hoseok, that always reminded you of home.
Just a short nap, you thought to yourself, before drifting off to sleep.
-
Drawing a heavy sigh, Jin leaned back in his chair keeping an eye on the half-written assignment on his laptop. It was due yesterday, but he had managed to get it pushed to tomorrow morning. Which was great. Except he still had no fucking clue how to finish it. It was for that one class, he already had failed twice, and he really needed to pass this time. Reaching out for the papers scattered all over his bed, he skimmed through Jimin’s notes again, trying to make sense of the keywords he had scribbled down, when he took the class last semester. Turning the page, he read through your comments in the margin of the page, which added clarification to some of the statements. At least on the first few pages. On page 7, you and Jimin had had an entire conversation going on in the margins about where to go to lunch afterwards. And on page 12, you had complained about your roommate almost burning down the apartment in an attempt to cook dinner for her date. The next few pages were only class related, discussing possible subjects to write your rapport on. But on one of the last pages, you had written something about a cute guy, you had been seeing, and even though Jin knew the notes were from last semester, he couldn’t shake the irritation scratching in his chest at the thought of you dating another guy. And it wasn’t like he had read your comments specifically. He was using Jimins notes to write his assignment, and he needed to reread the notes for that. He hadn’t even read your comments the first few times. Or reread them a 1000-times more than the actual class notes. Of course not.
Groaning at himself he straightened back up, glancing at the clock. 6 pm. Pushing back from the table, he stood up from the desk and stretched his aching back. Maybe a walk would help him concentrate a bit. Slipping on his shoes and grabbing his phone and headset off the bed, he walked through the empty house to get to the front door.
All the guys had gone home, so he had the house to himself. Not that they knew though. They all thought he was home with his parents as well. He still hadn’t had the guts to tell them. That he couldn’t go home anymore. It was embarrassing to say the least. Shaking his head to clear it of the memories, he pulled the front door closed behind him and plugged in his in-ears, before starting off down the street.
-
Blinking lazily awake, you relished in the drowsy feeling in your limbs still weighing you down between the blankets. Briefly wondering what had awoken you, you suddenly felt your stomach growl, making you let out a light chuckle. Of course. You hadn’t had time for lunch today, and you were starving. Rolling over in a stretch, you let out a soundless yawn as you reached for your phone. A little past 6pm. Alright, it might be an early dinner, but you had nowhere to be and no schedule for the next few days, you reminded yourself, as you dragged your body out of bed and pulled on one of Hoseok’s sweatshirt before padding to the kitchen.
Passing the door to Jins room in the hall, your thoughts flickered to him and how little you had seen him lately. He hadn’t approached you on campus at all and when you had seen him around the house, he always excused himself and disappeared. Maybe it had been unfair of you to camp out at the house the entire week, but Hoseok had asked him and Jin had said it was okay. Continuing to the kitchen, you pushed the thoughts out of your head.
As promised, there was your bottle of wine on the counter against the fridge. Grinning to yourself, you grabbed a glass from the cupboard and poured yourself a glass. Taking the first sip, you closed your eyes and let the taste dance on your tongue. Humming in appreciation, you took another sip as you lazily floated to the kettle to boil some water for the ramen. Well, floated might be the wrong word to use, but it really felt like that. Humming to yourself as you prepared the ramen, you took another sip of wine waiting for the ramen to be ready to eat. Once it was ready, you ate it in silence standing over the counter, taking a sip of your wine every now and then. Quietly cleaning up after yourself afterwards, you poured another glass of wine before walking back to Hoseok’s room and pulling out your laptop.
Scrolling through Netflix for a while, you finally settled on ‘Princess Diaries’. Grinning in excitement, you quickly pulled out your headset, since the speakers on your computer didn’t work. Settling under the covers with your wine and the computer, you took a sip of your glass before starting the movie.
-
Walking through the door an hour later, Jin felt a little more at ease. The walk had cleared his head a bit and actually given him a few ideas on how to approach the rest of the assignment. He had bought some food from a grill on the way home and eaten it on the way, so he was ready to go back to work. Walking straight to his room, he kept his headset on, switching to his study playlist and readied himself for a study bubble marathon, meaning he wouldn’t stop until he was done with the assignment. Casting a glance at Jimins notes, he quickly gathered them and deposited them on the other side of the room so he wouldn’t be distracted (by you), before he settled at his desk and pulled up the document once more.
-
When the end credits to ‘Princess Diaries 2’ rolled over the screen, you decided to call it a night. Despite your long nap earlier, a few glasses of wine and two movies was a sure recipe for a good night’s sleep in your book.
Hoseok had called a few hours earlier to check if you were still alive and after pleading for you to come join him a few more times, you wished each other good night and ended the call.
Searching through your bag, you pulled out your toothbrush and toothpaste and ventured across the hall to the bathroom.
-
Clicking save one last time, Jin drew a relieved sigh as he triple-checked the word-count to make sure he met the acquired words. He was done. He even had 200 words more than the minimum, which was a first for him. All he needed now was to proofread it, but first he needed to energize a bit. Standing up in a stretch, he gave a satisfied nod at his laptop, before walking out of his room to the kitchen to get a red bull.
-
Drying your face on a towel, you pulled your hair up in a high bun before turning off the lights in the bathroom and walking back to Hoseok’s room, where you turned off the lights and snuggled down under the covers.
-
Snatching the can from the fridge and taking a big gulp right there, Jin noticed the unmistakable smell of ramen in the kitchen. One of the guys must have grabbed a bite to eat before leaving to go home. Feeling a little sad at the prospect of being without any of the guys for an entire week, Jin’s thoughts wandered to his different housemates and what they might be doing now. Yoongi might still be underway as he had to take both a train and two buses before reaching home. Jungkook was definitely already home. His brother had picked him up on the way home himself, and they had probably spent the time on the road singing along to the radio, like Jungkook and Jin usually did when no one was around to see them. Jimin never had classes on Fridays, so he left yesterday. His brother’s birthday was today, so he was probably out celebrating with him. Tae and Namjoon had rented a car together, as their parents lived in the same city and they should be home by now, Jin calculated in his head as he emptied the can and threw it out.
And Hoseok. Well, Hoseok left this afternoon with you. You always spent the spring holiday with Hoseok. It was his mom’s birthday and you were part of the family, as Jin had heard Hoseok remind you of several times. Despite the amount of times you had turned down Hoseok’s invitation, Jin was certain that you had gone with him anyway. Saying no to your best friend wasn’t one of your strong suits. Unlike saying no to Jin, which seemed to be a secret talent of yours, Jin thought with an annoyed huff as he walked back to his room to finish the assignment and mail it to the professor.
-
Waking up the next morning, you felt relaxed and comfortable as the light fell in through the curtains, you had forgotten to close last night. Smiling lazily to yourself, you reached over for your phone on the nightstand to check the time. It was only 7 in the morning, but your body was restless, and you suddenly felt like going for a run.
Getting up to change into your running gear, you did a few stretches to warm up your muscles before tying your running shoes and leaving the house.
-
Startled awake, Jin sat up abruptly, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. Listening for what awoke him, he was only met by the quiet of the empty house.
“Must have been a bad dream,” he mumbled to himself, as he sank back against the pillow with a yawn, dozing off again.
When his phone rang a little later, he lazily rolled over to grab it off the nightstand.
“What?”, he growled, voice muffled against the pillow.
“Morning, Jin,” Namjoon’s upbeat voice greeted him. “Sorry, if I woke you. I just wanted to remind you to pack that book I borrowed you last time you went back to your parents. I promised Jimin he could read it.”
Fuck. The book.
Suddenly very awake, Jin swung his legs out of bed and sat up.
“Yeah, sure. Don’t worry about Joon. I’m looking at it right now. I’ll bring it back next weekend.”
“Alright, great. Thanks! How are your parents? Are yours as curious about your love life as mine are?”, Namjoon chuckled into the phone, making Jin's palms break out in cold sweat, as he let out a very poor imitation of a laugh.
“Sure are. I gotta go though. Promised I would help with breakfast. Talk to you soon,” Jin rambled, hanging up the phone with a pounding heart.
Goddammit. The fucking book. He had completely forgotten all about it. How was he supposed to get a new one before Namjoon got back?
Sighing in annoyance at himself, he ran a hand through his hair before getting up and walking to the bathroom to shower.
One problem at a time.
Maybe he would do a facemask afterwards and relax with a movie, he thought to himself as he stepped under the warm water, trying to ignore his fathers scolding tone in the back of his mind.
-
Gasping for air as you almost fell through the door after your run, you cursed yourself for not exercising more often. Heaving for air you walked to the kitchen to get some water with the music still blasting through your in-ears. Standing by the counter, you gulped down two glasses of water as you let your body cool down a bit, before walking to Hoseok’s room to get a towel so you could shower.
-
Jin stepped out of the shower and wrapped a towel around his hips. Reaching for the face mask in the cabinet, he stepped up to mirror and applied the sheet mask, smoothing in down on his cheeks and under his chin.
-
Discarding your shirt, sports bra and pants in the room, you grabbed a towel and walked across the hall to the bathroom. Humming along to the song from your in-ears, you reached for the doorknob.
-
Throwing one last look in the mirror, Jin grabbed the doorknob and pulled open the door, walking straight into a person.
A naked person.
The person let out a surprised shriek, that sounded vaguely familiar, but in the same second she lost her balance and Jin reached out to help her by instinct only to lose his own balance and before he knew it, he was on the floor with the woman on top of him.
“What the fuck?!” She screamed, scrambling off him and covering herself with a towel. “Who are you, and what are you doing here?”
“What I’m doing here?! I live here! What the hell are you doing here?”, Jin roared at the women, who was currently too occupied in securing the towel around her to look at him. But it only took Jin a few seconds to place her. “Y/n?!”
Startled by your own name, your eyes shot up to the man’s face, which was still covered by a sheet mask. But the broad shoulders paired with that voice was unmistakable.
“Jin!? What the hell? I thought you were by your parents?”, you groaned, still stuck in outrage of being caught naked.
Quickly tearing the mask from his face, he rolled his eyes at your words.
“And I didn’t think I had to inform you about me being in my own house! What are you even doing here?”, he asked in annoyance.
“Hoseok said, I could stay here during the break, since you were all at home anyway. I didn’t know, you were here.” As the anger left your voice, you took in Jin’s irritated state. “I’m sorry. I get it if you don’t want me here. Let me just pack my bags and I’ll go home.”
“Wait,” Jin exclaimed, suddenly a bit panicky. “You can stay. Under one condition,” he stated, making you roll your eyes.
“If it’s sex, I would rather go home, Jin,” you huffed in annoyance.
“It’s not sex, you idiot,” he spat at you, making your eyes widen in surprise. “Not everything in this world is about sex.”
“Sorry. What is it then?”
He suddenly seemed… hesitant. Nervous. His eyes were shifty, and you could see the strain in his shoulders. If you hadn’t known better, you would say he was scared. But that couldn’t be. What could he be afraid of?
“You can stay here,” he repeated, swallowing visibly under your gaze. “As long as you don’t tell the rest of the guys, that I was here as well.”
Blinking at him in surprise, you tried to figure out what was going through his head. This was definitely not a side of Jin, you were used to seeing, and you didn’t know him well enough to anticipate his next words either.

A/N: Ah, one last comment! The scene with Jin and Y/n running into each other half-naked was shamelessly stolen from the movie The Proposal, which is coincidentally one of my favorite movies!
