I feel like 2018 is just starting for me 😐 I usually pick a word of the year at the beginning of every year. It sort of sets an intention for that year and keeps it at the forefront in my subconscious mind while I make any decisions •Last year my word was Practice, I wanted to practice my art more 😊 •This year I chose my word Express as I would like to talk more about my art and also be expressive in my art practice ❤️ •I will carry both those words as I feel they go together in 2018 ☺️ • I made this spread on the flight back home from San Francisco when one of my @janedavenport mermaid markers burst open in the ziplock bag! 🤦‍♀️ I just used up all the ink in the bag to make this page, couldn’t let it go waste !! 🎨☺️💕 • So does anyone feel like 2018 has just started for them ?? •Also do you choose a word of the year? 2018 was filled with incredible highs. I hiked higher and longer than I thought possible, went to Disneyland and Universal and all the places with @seresbee, started the Crafty Club and taught my first class, and I put out more consistent and creative content than ever before. . 2018 also had heartbreaking lows. I struggled with depression and self doubt. I lost my mom to cancer. I almost lost myself, too. . But through the highs and lows and all the moments in between, I made progress in things I wanted to improve. I also stumbled a lot along the way. But that’s ok. Progress is progress and any small movement forward counts. . So as I close out 2018, I want to thank it for the PROGRESS it made possible. I also want to thank 2018 for the biggest lesson I learned this year: We find what we focus on. And with that in mind, in 2019, I choose to focus on JOY. . I hope you all have a wonderful New Year. I am excited to see what it brings us all. I am hoping for a year of love, light, and most of all, joy. What are you hoping for? .
