“You’ll never understand unless you’re in the situation.”—this is my defense to what my alter ego from the past would say to my present self.

10 weeks have gone yet it feels like it was just last week. You just pop right in to my thoughts at the most random time. I don’t know how you do it, but everything about you seems to linger. It was surreal YET it felt damn right. 

We both felt it, we both wanted it. I know. It started with a simple touch that woke up every single nerve in my body; an embrace that was long overdue—God, I waited so long for that hug; a kiss on the cheek, which I thought was cute; another kiss on the forehead releasing all the butterflies from my stomach, down to my spine, and then all over me; a stroke on my cheek that was followed by your lips meeting mine. We were millions of feet under the stars, you were singing with the Frank Sinatra on the radio: “there is nothing for me but to love you and the way you look tonight…” I kissed you. Eyes turning in to waterfalls. It was surreal AND it felt damn right.

I promised myself not to break my walls, but I broke my promise. I’ve let down the great wall, I gave myself up. We kissed willingly, passionately, eagerly, hungrily. We kissed to the point that we forgot about the world. We kissed until we’ve awoken our sleeping souls. We kissed and ended up entwined with each other. It was surreal BUT it felt damn right.

No matter how we rationalize and convince ourselves that we’ve done nothing wrong, deep down we both know that it wasn’t right. We can’t take it back. We can’t make it undone. We might have slipped up a bit, but at least we’re in it together. No doubts. No regrets. It was surreal and it felt damn right.
