actually maybe i dont understand monogamy as much as i thought i did because i dont feel any inherent discomfort at the idea of a hypothetical partner being romantically interested in another person or people as long as they are Still romantically interested in me

#was reading a post about how its like reasonable/natural to feel. Uncomfortable with a partner in an established monogamous relationship #to request to open it up #and yeah obviously. you know whats not normal though. saying “i would kill my partner and then myself if that happened” anyways #and then there was the reasoning for it. like “why do you want to do this” “is there another person”#and i think those concerns are inherently based on either not trusting that their partner is actually poly #or desiring exclusivity in a relationship #the first one i think. i mean yeah partners can be shitty and try to drag you into polyamory #when actually they just dont have the balls to break it off and get with their side piece #but. like. thats just one person being shitty and its ummmm Bigoted to apply that to every poly person . Summary: There could be a number of reasons why Kurama did not recognize them. Kuwabara went for the easiest explanation that did not betray his trust in the fox. It was just like the psychic to remain faithful to Kurama no matter how the fox antagonized them. But Hiei recognized the difference in Kurama's youki. It was the same spiritual signature but the intensity of it was different. And Kurama in his current incarnation had long passed this level of power from his past self.

(Or Team Urameshi find themselves stuck in the past where they confront a familiar stranger wearing the face of their beloved fox)

Notes: This whole fic is going by manga lore by the way so it ignores how the anime tried to separate Kurama and Youko Kurama. They're the same character especially with Kurama being able to freely shapeshift after CB arc. Youko is not a name, it's the kind of youkai Kurama is. Shuichi is also just an alias, not Kurama's human consciousness, like how Batman and Bruce Wayne are the same person but different names. Or how a werewolf is a werewolf no matter the appearance. That said, different versions of Kurama based on his timeline have different priorities in life and will react to things differently.

I just can't help but think about Mantauri sometimes, how it probably wouldn't have even happened even prior to the betrayal.

For whatever reason, it would just be pining, no actual confessions. They love each other, but for whatever reasons the two might have, they don't think the other would like him that way. They think it's just one sided and, thus, they don't do anything about it.

Why would they if they know how it'll turn out?

It's especially the case after the betrayal. They're enemies now, there's absolutely no way it could happen. If Mandarin did it by force, then possibly, but otherwise it's a cemented thought in their brains if they're still in love with each other by this point.

"I'm in love with you, but how could you like me?"

I have never been into her love interest being a whole ass grown man!#like hes an entire adult technically as old as her grandmother #I guess I appreciate that it’s sort of a side thing; but.....#This book makes it VERY clear that there’s big crushes/attraction between her and haruka #and also addison has a male ex & they realise they very explicitly still have feeling for each other in this one.#and…….it just doesn’t sort of address that at the end?#like it’s clearly intentional; why not have them have even a brief discussion about it. polyamory babey.#I think if it HAD been explicitly brought up at the end I would have been a bit more cool with her and addison;#since that would have removed the sort of endgame-generic-relationship-monogamy-together-forever kind of assumption yknow..#I dunno. #That said Minthara whenever brushing against anything within the structure of Baldur's Gate which goes from governmental down to literal #structural gripes.
