I get that I get made fun of for my Sanji obsession but genuinely no one understands how important Sanji is to me!!!!!
One piece was (& is) such a big escape from reality for me!! Sanji's the one that got me into coplaying and writing and tumblr!!! He gave me such a big community & both cosplaying and writing have given me so much confidence!! He's helped me find more hobbies and not care about what other people think!! He helped me realise it's okay to be a little sensitive and silly and caring because that's human, and I have lots of flaws just like him but I'm still a great person!! I've become more comfortable with myself & my appearance because of him!! I love him so much and I owe him everything!! He's given me so many amazing friends and mutuals that cheer up my day every day again!!

more rotating on this post: kakashi dating a civilian OC who has no idea he's a ninja
original proposed concept is they "meet" via icha icha fanzine. i bothered @tozettastone and they suggested that OC be a cosplayer. what does icha icha cosplay even look like? you ever seen IRL naruto coplay that's like "naruko but she wears a miniskirt and fishnets and a lot of makeup." or like fanart of kakashi where he's wearing a bellyshirt for no reason other than to show off his abs. like that, plus some very over-the-top traditional clothing for undercover work and civilian characters. everyone has off the shoulder kimono that show off cleavage and magically stay up, etc
anyway, i can't really see young!kakashi (like 18-19-20?) actively participating in fandom. but maybe he finds a zine somewhere and starts collecting them, like a pre-internet lurker. it's his coping mechanism, okay. he likes fanart. he likes bad fics. and then our lovely OC who's also 19 and fresh to being allowed in the porn section is like: I MADE THE BEETLE WING HAORI HERE'S A PHOTO. there's a note about her sorting through thousands of beetle wings to get the right colors, and also what a nightmare they are to sew, and also what should she try next, mail me here??? and Kakashi is like: oh wow, this person is insane. i have just the challenge. <3
(OC's additional notes on the haori: no one should ever do this again. just don't. you'll regret it)
kakashi is not the only person to write her suggestions, but he IS the only one to suggest something that's actually technically difficult to make, which is what she wanted. so they start swapping letters where she sends him progress updates on this insane thing she is making. he finds this mildly amusing until about a month out from the next con when her letters abruptly turn insane. she WILL premier this cosplay there even if it kills her-- listen if her wig guy isn't up to snuff she'll just LEARN HERSELF--
and listen kakashi isn't going to FALL IN LOVE but this level of commitment is something he can appreciate.
OC sends him a letter about the con (her very first one!!) and going to a con is not something he has any interest in, but like. he is curious to know what they're like, and it's nice to like? have? a friend??
they trade letters for years without actually talking about their personal life much. kakashi is not creative (no writing fic, no fanart, no cosplay, etc) but he IS really good at analysis. you need every detail on naoki's civilian outfit in paradise? he's got you. you don't understand wtf the text is talking about when it describes a weapon? he'll draw you a diagram (and not mention he knows what jiraiya is talking about because it's based on a real thing that was popular for like a month during the third war).
this goes on for years. oc lives in a small town in a little border country with no ninja, and her family runs a clothes shop, and she's deeply bored of making and altering shirts. she has a frustrating life in a very mundane way-- she dates a few guys and doesn't marry any of them and her family gives her grief. she moves to a slightly bigger city and can't get a job doing what she wants (making high-end luxury clothes and/or just insane fashion) and ends up working at a general store and doing minor alterations as a side gig to fund her hobby. she doesn't get to travel around and do cool things as much as she dreamed as a kid. she skips some cons because she doesn't always have the money and also there's a weird guy who'd been low-key stalking her. she tries selling little pre-made costume pieces at a con and doesn't even break even. only a handful of these details make it into her very serious discussion with kakashi about how the many details the icha icha miniseries got wrong
kakashi is.... being kakashi. obviously he doesn't write to her about all the assassinations he's been doing or whatever. but he doesn't mind when OC hints at her own boring problems. it's kind of nice, actually, to know there's people out there having boring problems? anyway one day she complains her landlord won't let her get a dog and he mails her a polaroid of a random dog he met in a park.
i'm thinking around the time of just before canon starts is about when kakashi is at a place where he's like..... okay with sharing some personal details? like he doesn't say a LOT but he realizes it actually feels really nice to write to someone that he's annoyed the store stopped selling his favorite pre-rolled sushi. the letters get sent more frequently and the conversation escalates at a slow, tedious pace. kakashi sends more dog pics. he tells her that he was so exhausted after work that he considered eating dog treats instead of cooking, and this feels like a very big deal to him
her: PLEASE tell me it was at least the fancy kind that look like cookies
him: obviously i would only buy the highest quality treats for my dogs
her: dogS?
kakashi: (ignores this question in the next letter)
kakashi checks his mail everyday now and he's like. oh no my feelings. but also she's in a whole other country and only exists to him in letters and that feels.... safe, somehow.
they met via a club for porn books so they don't "get together" so much as one of their very academic discussions of kink in icha icha violence suddenly turns into deeply sexual letters that have nothing to do with icha icha. there's still their normal conversation but then it's also like "if you were here now, this is what i would do to you--"
OC has been pretty good at not prying into Kakashi's life and she's very understanding of team seven making kakashi's life insane (she's under the impression her got an apprentice for whatever his job is) but she starts bugging him for a photo. kakashi is very against this at first, but then sasuke leaves and naruto leaves and sakura runs off with tsunade and suddenly he has a lot of free time and a big gaping hole in his social life. and like. he DOES really like her. they MIGHT be dating? definitely they have a thing going. so instead he asks if she wants to meet in person
OC agrees but she goes into it VERY nervous. she figures he didn't want to give a photo because he's embarrassed about his appearance, and she doesn't care what he looks like, but what if he lied about other things? what if she walks a whole day to this resort town and he's a weirdo or gross or stood her up?? but she puts on her big girl pants and also her push-up bra and goes
she wasn't actually going to sleep with him for their first meeting but it turns out he is like. hot. and talks just like his letters. and also it's way cheaper to just share one hotel room-- kakashi are you SURE you won't couple cosplay--

Cardcaptor Sakura: 20th Anniversary  Cosplay
I had been waiting forever to do another Sakura cosplay. My grandma made me one when I was in 7th grade for Halloween.
This one in fact:
Tumblr media
But, because it was not well known and I did not have a wig (and very little cosplay experience at the time) it wasn’t my most successful attempt. I don’t even have photos of myself in the costume either! ;_;
Fast forward thirteen years and my dream of doing a proper Sakura cosplay was here at last! Because it was the 20th anniversary of Cardcaptor Sakura this past year, I thought it would be the perfect time to make a cosplay that celebrated it! Cardcaptor Sakura was the first manga I ever read and what started my love of Japanese Manga and Anime. It holds a very special place in my heart.
Tumblr media
Contacts
For this costume I also bought circle lenses for the first time because I really been wanting to try them. After doing my research (comparing stores, quality, prices, colors etc…) I settled on Uniqso and purchased the Dolly Eye brand in Jewel Green. I really liked their range of products and prompt shipping and service. I was nervous to try them on but, once I did I loved them! They really create a nice “anime eye”.
Tumblr media
 The Outfit
Constructing the costume was definitely a process. There were several parts that were quite straight forward but the jacket required a bit of modification as the original pattern did not have a front panel.
First I bought a petticoat to save time. I managed to find an excellent one on eBay that had the amount of “poof” I wanted. I just had to replace the elastic band as it was a bit too flimsy. I made a plain white cotton skirt a while back and decided to use that one for this costume. I handmade ruffles to add to it.
Actually, I’ve never made so many ruffles before…I had a huge pile of them.
The bloomers were made using the Simplicity 2777 patterns. Pattern C, D, and E are the bloomers.
Tumblr media
I started the jacket by first cutting out all my pieces (double for the bodice lining). My cat Skimmer decided to “help” again...
Tumblr media
She was mad at me because I wouldn’t let her lay all over my patterns...
I sewed the bodice together first, leaving the back open for a zipper later. Then I laid out and stitched the peplum together and then proceeded to place and sew on the white ruffles and the stripped ribbon. It is much easier to add details like that while the piece is flat, that way everything lays the way it should.
I used a large puffy sleeve pattern for the shoulders and added an additional piece to make them quarter sleeves.
Tumblr media
Once the sleeves were attached, I finally attached the peplum to the bodice. Everything was coming together but then I realized the front was much too wide so I had to carefully go and take in an inch so that the bodice would lay properly.
Before...very baggy in the front.
Tumblr media
After fixing the bodice...much better!
Tumblr media
Once that problem was fixed I proceeded to punch and attach grommets (with help from mom…it helps having another pair of eyes to make sure things are symmetrical) so I could add the decorative lacing to the front.
After the construction was done I made the decorative bows for the peplum, bloomers and my wig.
The shoes were tricky because there are very few places to find pink Mary Janes that are made for adult women lol. Luckily my sister had a pair she didn’t wear anymore and I just had to spray paint them pink using Design Master Color Tool spray which can actually go on leather without flaking off horrendously.
The Wig
The base wig I started with was an Adam in Warm Light Brown from Arda wigs. I also bought a pack of short wefts in the same color. These were sewn into the wig to create the long strands that hang down as well as add a bit of volume. I pulled sections up to create the cute little pigtails Sakura is known for.
Tumblr media
The “ahoge” was created by taking some strands at the top of the wig and using clear nail polish (starting from the base and going up) to make the hair stand up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Note: Apparently the Adam Wig from Arda has been discontinued however, the Priscilla wig could be used as an alternative. :)
The Staff
I had made a star staff for my Halloween costume years ago but it needed to be completely reworked. I cut a star out of foam and used cardboard to create the star shape using this tutorial.
Tumblr media
I then wedged/glued the star shape inside of a foam ring. I covered the foam and cardboard with paper mache for sturdiness. After letting it dry I coated it with white gesso to smooth it all out.
Tumblr media
Once again after letting that dry I painted it with craft acrylics then sealed the whole thing with mod pode.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The golden part of the staff was achieved using wooden disks, twine, cardboard and wonder flex. A dowel was attached to the staff head and drilled into the base. I used two red resin circle “gems” and glued them to the staff then wrapped crescent shaped wonder flex around the bottom and top to create a rim around the gem as well as to hold it in place. I then painted and sealed it.
That’s about everything! I had a lot of fun making one of my dream coplays. It was totally worth every snag. If you have any specific questions about my process feel free to ask me!

There’s No Trailer For This 9-Second Street Hemi GTX!
True car guys will always tell you that they’re never finished with their rides; there are always upgrades on the horizon. Sometimes, an upgrade can mean ditching the current mount to buy something bigger and better. Back in the late-1990s, Brian Fink was looking for such an upgrade. His fixation was with a “big-tire car.” At that point, he was tooling around in a 1971 Plymouth Duster with a warmed-over 340 small-block. It had a lumpy cam, a Holley carb mounted on an aftermarket intake, and a set of headers, but it clearly wasn’t a weapon of mass destruction. That aside, Brian really liked the Duster; you could almost say it had become a member of the family. That attachment made saying goodbye difficult, but when the decision was made to look for a car that was further along in the performance ladder, the A-body was sent to a new home with some regrets.
His mind was set on having a Pro Street car, so all options were put on the table, and as he recalls, “I was open to other cars, as long as they were Mopars.” When the 1967 Plymouth GTX came into the picture in 2001, it was indeed further along. It had a full rollcage, and the rear was already back-halved with a four-link setup and a narrowed Dana 60 rear, which fulfilled his primary desire, and as he points out, “I fell in love with that body style, and it was tubbed.” It also came with a well-massaged 440 big-block backed by a 727 Torqueflite that was a huge improvement over the 340 in the Duster. The guy who sold him the car was responsible for much of the work that had been done to it. He, too, needed to send the GTX to a new home. His son had a freshly minted driver’s license and he had his eyes set on the GTX. For fear that the lad would kill himself at the wheel of the car, it was sold off.
Like a kid with a new toy, Brian started using the GTX regularly, which meant doing some shows and, of course, some clandestine street racing. He also hit the track with it numerous times where it laid down consistent high-11-second passes. As with the Duster, it didn’t take long for the bigger-and-better syndrome to set in, and in the Mopar world, it often means one thing: a Hemi. The opportunity to get one at a decent price fell into his lap in 2004 when one of his buddies embarked on a ground-up restoration of a 1970 Hemi Super Bee. It had a 1968 date-coded 426 and he was looking for a 1970 block and a set of heads.
The Hemi purchase fulfilled the desire to take things to the next level, but the reality of the financial needs for what he wanted was much larger than he was ready for. Running his business and supporting a family meant that large sums of disposable income didn’t fall out of the sky. For a number of years, the 426 sat. Nonetheless, it didn’t mean other things weren’t getting done to the car. The interior was upgraded with the installation of new front seats found at the Carlisle swap meet; the rear setup was also freshened with a Detroit locker spool.
Unfortunately, not everything always moves forward in a linear fashion. At one point, it was sidelined for a long stretch when it was damaged at his shop. Brian’s buddy had his truck parked inside, and he mistakenly let his foot slip off the clutch pedal, which launched the truck directly into the back of the GTX. The outcome wasn’t pretty. It ended up being sandwiched between static shop equipment and the front of the truck, with extensive damage at both ends of the car. Since parts for 1967 Plymouth’s aren’t the easiest to come by, and dealing with clueless insurance companies can sometimes have its difficulties, tracking down good replacement pieces became a challenge, with the trim items being the most difficult to find. They were eventually found and the car was repaired, which set it toward its next chapter.
That chapter started when he was ready to have the Hemi done. Brian’s goal was to crate it up and send it off to Ray Barton Racing Engines. They know a thing or two about getting power from the Hemi, and he was looking to get as much as his pile of cash allowed. The foundation was the 1968 block and heads, but everything else would be fresh, right down to the stroker crank that pushed the displacement to 492 ci. The Barton crew did all the machine work on the block and heads, and when it came time to spend some of the money he had saved up, things like the magnesium intake and Barton valve covers were on the must-have list.
The entire process dragged out for almost two years until it was back in his shop. Along the way, there were recurring mechanical issues when the engine was put on the dyno, which they eventually solved. Once they were able to get a good pull, it yielded 610 horses at the crank at 5,400 rpm and 750 lb-ft of torque, which Brian estimated would drop him below the 10-second mark.
With the Hemi ready to drop into the engine bay, he sent the 727 Torqueflite out for a full rebuild, which included internal upgrades to handle the additional power. He also realized that the need to stop was actually more important than going faster, and drum brakes were the weak link in the equation, so a Wilwood disc-brake setup at the front was installed, with plans for the rear at a later date.
Once everything was buttoned up on the car, Brian wasted little time before taking it back out on the street and giving it a good shakedown at the track. So far, he has clocked a 9.30 time at 143 mph, which is a vast improvement over the 440. Looking forward, most of the heavy lifting has been done on the car, and Brian regularly takes it out on spirited drives and squeezes as much enjoyment as he can. He’s also fond of pointing out that it is not a trailer queen and is officially a member of the family—one we don’t think will be sent packing any time soon.
TECH NOTES
Who: Brian Fink What: 1967 Plymouth GTX Where: Coplay, PA
Engine: The 426 Hemi tucked between the fenders in the GTX originally came out of a 1968 Mopar, with the block and heads sharing the same year of manufacture. When Brian shipped it off to Ray Barton Racing Engines for the rebuild, he decided to go with a stroker crank, which pushed the displacement to 492 ci. Along with that new forged steel stroker crankshaft, they also added new H-beam connecting rods and Diamond 10.5:1 forged pistons. The Hemi cast-iron heads were also gone over and treated to all new valves, springs, and titanium retainers, while a Ray Barton custom grind was dropped in. Exhaust duties are handled via a set of TTI headers.
Induction: A Ray Barton Magnesium cross-ram intake adorns the top of the Hemi, along with a pair of Holley 770 Super Stock Hemi carburetors. This intake choice is very robust and easily supports 800-plus horses without any porting.
Electronics: Spark production and distribution for the 492 Hemi comes from an MSD Blaster HVC II coil wired to an MSD Pro-Billet Distributor. This type of MSD distributor has been designed for use with aftermarket valve covers like the ones from Ray Barton Racing Engines.
Fuel: Brian keeps the hungry Hemi fed with Sunoco Standard leaded fuel rated at 110 octane, which he purchases by the drum.
Transmission: A 727 Torqueflite handles shifting duties on the GTX. Brian had his friend Nate Berk in Schnecksville, PA, do the work on the automatic. He installed a TCI 8-inch converter with a 4,500-stall speed. Other improvements include a reverse manual valvebody and upgraded race clutches.
Rearend: The choice of a rear didn’t stray in the Ford camp. When Brian purchased the GTX, it was already sporting a narrowed Dana 60, which he opted to keep. He took out the spool and installed a Detroit Locker unit with a set of 5.13:1 gears.
Chassis/Suspension: The rear of the GTX has been back-halved and uses a four-link setup with QA1 coilovers, while the front still retains the stock 1967 Chrysler torsion bars. The manual steering box is also vintage 1967, but has been mated to a Flaming River steering column.
Brakes: When Brian purchased the GTX, it was wearing the stock drum brakes at all four corners. The installation of the 492 dictated that better stopping was needed, so up front the drums were replaced. A set of Wilwood spindles, rotors, four-piston calipers, and a Wilwood master cylinder were installed. In the pipeline is a switch to rear discs in the near future.
Wheels/Tires: Front and rear wheel choice on the GTX was confined to Weld Racing. Brian went with a set of 15×4 Prostars up front wrapped in 205/70R15 American Silver Premium Edition tires. The rears are also 15×15 Prostars fitted with 33×18.50 15LT Mickey Thompson ET Street tires.
Paint/Body: The body on the GTX wears a 1967 color called Turbine Bronze Metallic, which is the original shade it rolled out of the factory in, but it has had a re-spray over the years. When Brian purchased the car, the hood and trunklid were both fiberglass lift-off pieces, which he has since partially changed back. The hood is still fiberglass, but it has been put on hinges and the massive scoop added.
Interior: The back seat gave way to the massive tubs that were installed, along with the rollcage. The original front seats were still in place when purchased, but were eventually replaced. The replacements that are now installed were purchased at the Carlisle Fairgrounds swap meet. They are a no-name brand that, according to Brian, “really looked good and are quite comfortable.” Other additions also include the Simpson five-point harnesses, Cheetah SCS shifter, and AutoMeter Sport-Comp tach. The dash is still in its original configuration, minus the original AM radio.

Part 1 of 2 of Selfies from Cosplay Photographers Alliance Beach Meet up: I reprised my Luffy coplay since both @aprilstarcosplay and @actcostumes were going to be there in their One Piece cosplay as well. There were several One Piece group photos and individual photos taken and the response and turnout was great. For the event itself, The CPA Beach Meet-up made for a wonderful day. Great beach location, plenty of parking, good setup for everyone to hang out and a ton of great people all around. I had a chance to meet a couple new cosplayers and photographers, as well as get to know a couple people better. And at the same time, hang out with some of wonderful friends I have made in this community. So I am so happy I reprised Luffy, got off my butt and made it out there this weekend. Both the Heritage Park and Beach Meet-ups were so much fun and I can’t wait for the next once. Thanks again, stay tuned for Part 2 and other geeky stuff on the horizon and always remember to stay… Kinda Geeky    #cosplayphotographeralliance #photography #photographers #beach #beachmeetup #cpabeachmeetup #kinda_geeky #selfies #cosplay #cosplayers #cosplayercommunity #onepiece #monkeydluffy #luffycosplay #onepiececosplay #kingofthepirates #newfriends #goodfriends #friends #anime #cartoonnetwork #adultswim (at Torrance State Beach)

Is Your Water Heater A Bomb Waiting To Explode?
There is nothing like the word "bomb" that incites more fear in people. Many could have one in their own home without realizing it. It is possible for your water heater to explode. However, there are warning signs that you can look out for before it gets to this point.
Warning Signs: Do You Have a Bomb in Your Home?
Your Water Heater's Age
It is vital to know how old your water heater is. The older it is, the more likely it is to be rusted, corroded or operating improperly. You can find this information by looking at the serial number. The serial number's coded date will not look like a typical date stamp. Therefore, knowing what each piece of information means is crucial. It will start with a letter, A-L. Whatever that letter is, it represents which month it was created. Therefore, when yours starts with a C, it was made in the 3rd month, or March. The next two digits will be a number. That number represents the year. So, for example, if your next two digits are 99, your water heater was made in 1999. If it starts with a zero, it was made in the 2000s. The rest of the numbers represent model and manufacturer information. Conventional tanks only have about a ten-year life span. So, if yours is older than that, you should call a licensed plumber to schedule a water heater replacement.
Improper Installation
Many homeowners try to avoid the cost of a plumber. They either try to install the tank themselves or hire an unlicensed plumber to do the job instead. Therefore, when an unlicensed plumber, including the homeowner, installs a water heater improperly, it can result in an explosion. In addition, not only can they cause a catastrophic tragedy for themselves, but they can also be held legally responsible for any damage caused to their neighbors and surrounding areas. If you think your water tank was installed improperly, it is advisable to consult with a qualified, licensed plumber to check out the tank.
Carbon Monoxide Alarm Bells
If your CO detector keeps sending out alarm sounds, you have a leak somewhere in your home. It needs to be addressed immediately. Carbon monoxide is colorless and odorless. It is also extremely hazardous to your health. Consequently, when the CO reaches certain levels in your home, it is lethal. On your water heater, the ignition flame can ignite the gas and create an explosion when there is a leak anywhere near or inside of it.
Faulty Valves
As previously mentioned, water heaters work through thermal expansion. Normally, when a tank is working properly, it has a TVP valve or temperature pressure release valve. This valve allows pressure to escape to keep your tank within an acceptable psi (pounds per square inch) range. However, faulty valves cause a build-up of pressure which will send your water heater rocketing through your home and your roof.
