For this scenario we're gonna say you're a fellow streamer and met at Twitch Con

I was happy to finally be going out with my friends, not seeing the light of day much beforehand. Me and George were walking through the con and talking to some new people, most being more streamers. At some point along the way George had wandered off to do his own thing. I didn't bother looking for him as I could just call him if I needed him. I looked around and spotted a person with the COOLEST t-shirt on. I walked up to them and started a conversation.

"Hey! I love your shirt."

"Hmm? Oh thank you! You're Dream."

"I am hehe. How's your afternoon going?"

"Busy, I've talked to so many people."

"Ugh same, so (insert fav video game) huh? Good choice good choice."

"Yeah, it's one of my favorites right now, you played it?"

"I did."

He heard your phone vibrate from you pocket/bag. You reached for it to open it and sighed.

"It's one of my friends, they're here with me and got caught up talking to someone, you want my number so we can talk more later?"

"Oh same, George and Sapnap are here too... Somewhere. Here I'll pull up my contacts."

Just as I stepped though the door my mind wandered back to the person at con. Holy shit they were cute, those eyes, the personality. I'm gonna text them. No wait, too soon. They were so cool though.

"Hey Dream!" George yelled from the other side of the hotel room.

"Why are you yelling, I'm just around the corner dude. What do you want?"

"My bad, you've been awfully quiet since we met back up, are you alright?" He actually sounded concerned.

"Yeah, I met a cute person at con and don't know if I should text them yet or not."

"Oouu Dreamies got a crush huh? I mean go for it man, I'm sure they won't think anything of it." George went back in his phone shortly after.

"Oh shut it loser. I will" I walked over to my bad and pulled out my phone. Shit, they already texted me.

I had to unbutton the top of my shirt, it was getting rather warm in here. I got interviewed and went to find Sapnap again. As I turned a corner I bumped right into someone.

"Oh shit! My bad, are yo- Woah."

"Umm, it's ok, what's the woah about haha" I teased them slightly looking to meet their eyes. 'Oh shit, they're kinda pretty.' I blushed a tad.

"Oh nothing sorry, You're Georgenotfound right? I've watched you a few times during squid craft."

"Did you? That's cool, are you nominated for anything tonight?" Why is making conversation with a cute person so hard, George get it together they probably have a partner.

"No, but I heard you buddy Quackity I'd nominate for Best Minecrafter, that's cool!" They never once broke eye contact, those eyes were something I'd never forget, mesmerizing really.

"Yeah, he couldn't make it, I'm here with Karl and Sapnap though. You here with friends?"

"No, None of my friends wanted to come. I'm so glad I met someone." They giggled.a.bit before going completely silent.

"I'm sure they won't mind you tagging along. I like the outfit by the way, it fits you good. Er umm I like the pattern." Shit shit shit, George you're an idiot.

"Hahaha oh George, you're blushing. Thank you, let's go find your friends shall we?"

"Yeah, they might be in the bathroom."

As they say here with us during the ceremony I was cought glancing by Sap.

"Gogys gotta crush huh?" Sapnap elbowed me a few times.

"Oh shit it man, I mean look at them, how could you not?"

"George, I'm right here ya know." They turned a bit to look at me. "If you wanted my number you could of just asked"

I hated being a mentor for new kids, they're always so awkward and weird. I waited with the principal for them. As soon as I spotted them I had changed my mind. They had (favorite band) in their shirt and their shoes were awesome.

"Bro, your shoes are killer, I'm Karl imma be your mentor for the first few days"

"Thanks, my name's (Y/N) er you probably knew that."

"I didn't actually, Mr.Principal doesn't tell us anything important, you didn't hear that from me though"

"Got it got it." We walked over to get their schedule and I showed them their locker.

"Damn, you're in almost all my classes, that's cool"

"Am I? Which ones don't we have?"

"Our maths and chem are switched. There in the same hallway, don't worry. Same homeroom and all that though"

WIP Wednesday

However, despite the sadness Jana felt whenever she thought of Beauxbatons and her wishes that she had never left her friends, there was something equally as thrilling and magical about being at Hogwarts. Whenever she had first seen the castle, leaning out over the side of a carriage drawn by threstrals, Jana had been amazed at the beauty that it held and how a feeling of warmth seemed to rush through her all at once—like she was home.

The castle itself had a large number of floors and secret passageways and moving staircases that Jana thought it was a travesty that no one had bothered to craft a map. The hallways were not just occupied by students and teachers; there were also ghosts, who liked to walk through the walls unannounced and figures in portraits that sometimes liked to abandon their frame. There was even a large dining room with four large tables for each of the Houses (Slytherins, Hufflepuffs, Ravenclaws, and Gryffindors—like Jana), a thousand or more floating candles, and an enchanted ceiling that showed the sky.

Outside the walls of the castle, there was the dark and looming Forbidden Forest where it was, as the title suggests, forbidden to go into without the presence of a professor. In the middle of the castle grounds, there was a massive lake where a colony of merpeople resided beneath the water’s surface as well as a giant squid who frequently surfaced to see the students. There was also a large willow tree that had a habit of swinging its limb at annoying birds or ruffling its leaves in annoyance. Closer to the castle, there was a cluster of greenhouses—filled with plants of all natures and levels of deadliness—and a decent-sized Quidditch pitch with stands towering high above the ground.

Over the summer, Jana had been brought to the school by the Headmistress and sorted into her house before the Head of the Gryffindor House, Neville Longbottom, gave her a quick tour. While Professor Longbottom had made extra sure to hit important places around the castle, such as the Gryffindor Common Room and dorms and the outside Greenhouses, little could’ve been done to help her overcome the massive learning curve. She, like the first years, was still struggling to learn the castle and its intricate hallways—and the trickster doors.

This week, I’ve decided to start a new “tradition” on my blog on Wednesdays by posting a section of my WIP. Recently, my writing has been rather slow and spontaneous (judging by me creating the idea and then posting ‘punch and tell’ in the same day) and it’s been incredibly frustrating to me. However, I’m hoping to get back to writing more frequently. 

In addition, I’ve been working on what I want to highlight as my “WIP”: my Hogwarts AU. I know I’ve been saying it for months, but it finally seems to be coming to fruition. Finally. The plans are all set—the background characters, the changes, the plots. However, still, I find myself stuck and second-guessing myself and doing this story because well, it’s not a sobbe story (and, let’s be real here, that’s what everyone wants to see). 

While this fic is a step back towards HP—my OG fandom and where I got my writing start as well as my favorite childhood world to disappear to—it’s also my first fic where I won’t be writing Sobbe and Robbe or Sander as the main POV character. So, while it takes a step into my comfort zone (into HP, where i know an embarrassing amount of minuscule trivia and random headcanons), it’s also a step outside of that because I’m starting a new pov with a character that I haven’t really written a lot of before: Jana.

Her book of Hogwarts AU—originally: the magic of betrayal; now: the curse of betrayal (or as I refer to it tcob)—depicts the story of season 1... with some minor changes. Of course, there’s the obvious such as magical classes and spells and flying broomsticks and ghost. But there are some also minor plot changes that I feel would be beneficial to focusing on Jana’s story—as well as taking out some that I just don’t really like as much—and inclusion of a plot that will hopefully focus more on Jana’s difficulty with school in the first half of season 1 (later in the season, she’s shown to be studying physics with Yasmina, but I always wished that they’d focus a little more on school). 

(I’ve also included magical technology since texts/social media are such a prominent part of every-day life and there’s no way Muggleborn students can disappear off the face of the earth completely for 9 months of the year without people getting suspicious. I’m sorry.)

In addition, it also includes characters introduced later in the series—from the beginning. Milan has become the assistant to Madam Pomfrey, who is getting close to retiring, and Noor Bauwens and Aaron Jacobs are already included with their canonical friends from season 3. Sander Driesen—everyone’s personal fav—has also been included since the beginning, with one of my favorite non-canonical friendships to tie him into the season 1 storyline. I’ve also included some of my favorite OCs to enrich the background (and mostly because I’m too attached to them)—such as Valentin and Sophie from Safe, Jonathon from Jij Verliest, and Celeste (who now has the last name, Maes) from just friends. 

As I mentioned, I’m rather nervous about this fic and I’m going to come right out and say it: it isn’t a sobbe fic. In the first book, Jana’s, I do not have it planned for them to even have an interaction—though currently both of them will have separate interactions with Jana. I know that hits/comments/kudos do not matter, but I’m also internally terrified that no one is going to read it or care for it. I’m writing for me, this is true, but I also love hearing that people are enjoying what I’m writing and regardless of any internal motivation that I feel, comments and kudos and asks fuel my motivation a lot more than people realize. 

So, I apologize that this fic has been taking a long time—especially since I’ve been slowly working on the idea for about a year now—and I hope that I’m able to get it out to you soon. I hope you are looking forward to this story as much as I am.

2-part dinner @ Nongbu & Double Greeting [feat. Royal Bison & Citadel Theatre]

I had such a great day with my sister from another mister (TINA) on Saturday! We checked out the Royal Bison craft event, which was a new experience for me. Tina told me about it a few weeks ago, & it seemed like something I would be into - she was so right! Here are a few photos from the event:

I tried traditional weaving for the 1st time in my life. It was fun! It reminded me of playing the piano bcos of the pedals. Although I appreciate the artistry & how beautiful the outcome is, it’s not something that I would do long-term/invest in. I don’t know what the parts of the machine are called but the repetitive nature of the making-process is too much for me =/ 

Soaps. Each bar is named after a neighbourhood in Edmonton. When Tina asked how it came to be, the rep said they did this survey where ppl in each community were given a task: provide 1 word that you think best describes your neighbourhood. From there, they took the ideas & formulated a scent that best relates to these descriptors. Cool idea~ But I can’t really “smell” the connection.

Jewelry. I’d like to point your attention to the black tassel earrings. It’s so cute! Basically a certain length of thread that’s been looped once (& tied together). So simple & lively. Yes, lively, not lovely. The lightness of the material would be very pretty when there’s a breeze.

Toddler socks.

What would you use the back object on the left for? (It is separate from the dish underneath; it was placed on top by a fellow customer/visitor). The 1s thing I thought of was Asian calligraphy brush holder. Tina thought chopstick holder. The same visitor said ring holder. .. The 2 piece item on the right is a spoon + spoon rest. 

Cat pins. I got myself the meow-no Lisa pin. Too awesome! 

Various greeting cards & postcards. I actually really like looking at cards/postcards at these sorts of craft shows/events (& markets too), whether it’s in Edmonton or when I’m away from travel. I don’t have any particular styles that I like; I like whatever catches my eye. .. factors like appealing colours, attractive designs, humour, & overall artistic execution .. *shrugs* whatever! 

Incense & tea light holders.

Ceramics. This colour scheme suits Tina & her home so well. .. but she said she’ll wait till next yr to make the big purchase!

Leather products. Tina loves this booth! I’m not entirely sure if it’s just bcos I’m not into leather or the products/product designs they have. .. it showcases maturity, in my opinion lol

Unisex fragrances from the most smoky (left) to the most floral (right). The left-est one was soooo woody with a light note of fireplace smell. .. #2 & 3... they were more mature scents, & in my opinion, more masculine. #2 to 6 were actually quite pleasant. The right-est one was my fav. It smelled very light & lofty, with youthful vibes.

We shared the o-deng tang, aka fish cake soup (comes with bowl of rice), & honey butter ddeokbokki. The 3 sides include: beans, pickled radish (my fav!) & kimchi. O-deng tang is starting to appear on menus these days; I’m super happy about that. This one could use a bit more flavour, but overall, a heartwarming dish. The honey butter ddeokbokki was good too. It’s slightly crispy & the rice cakes were well-covered with a light coat of honey butter :D 

Our “real” dinner @ Double Greeting~

We've been coming here since forever but 1st time going together. We love this place so, so much!

Tina ordered something that’s not on the menu: satay chicken flat noodles. On their menu, there’s only the beef option lol & I got a congee that contains bbq pork (cha siu), squid, & pork rinds. 

Double Greetings has this “write your own order down” system, where as long as it’s communicable, it’s fine. Some ppl write the number & the item name. Some ppl write the dish name only, & others like myself, write numbers. I usually come here with my family & we’ve slowly turned “lazy”, where we just write the number down. If you’re not familiar with this place, & you simply write the number, it’s better to keep track/remember what you did order haha I don’t have the whole menu memorized but I know the numbers of the usual things/things that I/we like. 

Question for y’all: which do you think is the more frequent visitor: someone who knows what’s not on the menu (hence no number), OR someone who knows what’s on the menu & can order by number? :P 

Hint: like the satay chicken flat noodles Tina ordered, it’s basically a protein substitution for an existing dish. If you look closely, some other things are like this situation as well. 

The congee~ So satisfying! The texture of the congee was very nice. I don’t know how to describe it in English bcos I don’t think there’s an English equivalent of the word I would use in Chinese. .. The literal translation is “cotton-y”, which. .. I think “soft” is the closest I have in English. However, it’s soft yet holds a balanced amount of firmness (of the rice). 

This dish took forever. .. well, no. It took like almost 20mins. That’s considered a long wait time here. There were so many ppl! Ppl waiting for table, ppl ordering for take-out, ppl coming in for their take-out order. But nonetheless, worth the wait! I’ve had the beef version of this & really liked it. The chicken version was excellent too. There’s really no “bad” food here.

I watched my 1st play at the Citadel Theatre! Prior to ~2 weeks ago, my knowledge of the Citadel Theatre was like. .. limited to the max haha I basically only knew where it is & what types of events it hosts besides being a venue for plays/shows. I had imagined ticket prices to be pricey; afterall, anything of that nature/scale is usually pretty expensive. But it really depends- on factors like the seating area, day of the week, the show itself, just to name a few. So tickets weren’t actually that bad!

We watched the play called Miss. Bennett’s Christmas at Pemberly. 

Ok, let’s chat a bit haha I have never been a Jane Austen fan. I have a hard time “getting into” her novels, but bcos of school, I was required to read her Pride & Prejudice in high school for English 30. Anyway, I didn’t like that story much. Miss Bennett’s Christmas at Pemberly focussed on the main girl’s sister, so it wasn’t like a play version of P&P (phew!). Turned out I enjoyed the play a lot! I have very, VERY little play experience; in fact, the only 2 I’ve been to were in NYC a decade ago! 

Yeah. .. It was so funny!! Music, quick dialogue, lighting. .. everything was so good & awesome! The 135mins (+ 15mins intermission) went by so quickly.

The main floor of the Citadel had Christmas lighting & decorations so we went to check that out after the play.
