but i wonder if now that he’s experienced a moment himself where continuing to fight might not have been in his best interests since his family was on the line and therefore took himself out of the equation, just as ichiro had done several times in their partnership, kuukou can find himself understanding ichiro’s ‘naive weakass crap’ a little more lol

#this is vee speaking #esp since his time in bukuro is being framed as a time of endless battles lol #one of my favourite ichikuu comparisons between the two of them is the way they carry their burdens lol #how ichiro the eldest child has so much more responsibility over others he’s carrying so he chooses to act as safely as possible #and kuukou who thinks he’s only responsible for himself since he can only rely on himself bc he’s an only child #but is willing to take on more responsibilities bc of it #like i still don’t know why it has to be family for kuukou but as hayama-san has put it #everyone he meets is family and the more family he gains the more he has to protect #and we do see kuukou grapple with the need to protect his family in fools gold #and interestingly enough!!!!! ichiro experienced the inverse of this development in my generation #where he learns to unpack some of his (lowkey self imposed) responsibilities towards his family #kuukou’s verse in cross a line where he says ‘our paths cross and then part like an amida lottery’ is rly fcking apt for the two of them lol #i really love their paralleling paths and love it when those paths circle and they cross and come together even more LOL
