love lies bleeding: by @smolsarcasticraspberry is a fic where every time it updates i am screaming my way through the whole chapter. berry is such an amazing writer, from her description to the world building and how fascinating it is, to all the little relationship details that get me. plus, i adore tropes and epic fantasy and lady and her knight dynamics, so this fic really was written for me, in a way. probably my fave shallura fic to date.

By Prudence Ruled: is everything you could want in a post-war, world building, bodyguard shiro shallura fanfic and more. holy shit. i don’t even know what more to say. forever one of the best. it’s long, complete, and if you haven’t read it yet like, what are you doing with your life??

Into the Woods: by @andtheblueberrymuffin is chilling, angsty, beautiful, heart wrenching, and a massive emotional ride for an overall shorter multi chap (a little over 24 thousand words) and one that i’ll still randomly think of time to time because it just sticks with you long after you’re done. this one is really underrated and i cannot reccomend it enough.

sweet poison: by @curiosity-killed is a super interesting and shallura take on the alternate alteans from 3x04 and a bit AU. i normally don’t like anything to do with the idea of empress allura but i completely fell in this one, and it’s just heartwarming and also unsettling enough to put you right there where shiro is emotionally. great read and WIP

it takes two to tango: by @ahumanintraining for pining and slowburn shallura and i don’t really remember details of this one but i was so happy and fangirling throughout and it’s a nice lengthy oneshot with their perfect characterization of shallura like always and just, so satisfying to read. also a bit fluffier than everything else on this list, so here’s some more fics bc i couldn’t stop just after five

feel a little rush: by someone who’s only on ao3 now, but super sweet, funny and endearing modern au that will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy afterwards

what lies beneath: by @materassassino is a bit of an older one shot but still golden, interesting exploration of shiro and allura being stranded, but shorter and a different take than “into the woods,” and less angsty too, if you want a lighter read as i also do sometimes. still has its own scary and sweet moments and deserves to be appreciated

i’ll also unabashedly rec my own work, mostly “how to drown in the desert” which is a shallura fake marriage au that hasn’t been updated in a while but it’s mostly complete and and with lots of good pining.

and my magnum opus, “the space between stars,” which is a voltron fix it fic following the end of s1 and has paladins and plot and pining and fluff and some angst and lots and lots of shallura. it’s ongoing but my version of s2 is nearly done and the fic’s already at 86k+ and is nowhere near finished as a whole.

there’s also my fic rec page on my blog which has not been updated in a long time but it still has some really good recs on it!!

i use paint tool SAI (a cracked version, i don’t remember where i downloaded it from sorry!) and i’m not gonna lie, i work pretty stupid small, usually just 1000x1500 for a portrait/landscape piece, and 1000x1000 for a square piece. then sometimes i adjust to 1200 or 1300 for height but... it’s not really an exact science, i know those size settings definitely won’t blur on tumblr tho! 🎨🎨🎨

it’s essentially a toy piano with a ukulele neck and strings, and a kazoo attached. and my choice of it being my d&d character’s main bardic instrument was... just a joke tbh but i ended up really liking chunkus as a character and so when i drew my updated design for chunkus, i slightly altered the kazookeylele to be more like a uke with a xylophone attached, because i thought a xylophone would fit in a bit better with a fantasy setting? but xylophones have bars rather than keys - so really it ought to be called a kazoobarlele now!!! 🎶🎶🎶
