the thing that gets me most about sterek is it's a guy who's been hunted for all his life and blames himself for his family's death, who is fundamentally unsafe because of what he was born as, finding safety with someone who'd probably bite someone if they looked at him wrong
conversely, it's this guy who forced himself into a sort of pseudo parental role for everyone around him (including his own father), who's been so intensely terrified about everyone's well being that he has multiple, ONSCREEN panic attacks about it, trusting this guy, with probably THE highest ratio of screen time to mortal peril, to be entirely fine, even to the point where in the episode where every other main character is grieving Derek in some capacity, it doesn't really seem like stiles thinks he's dead?? he's not,,, but that's WILD

Okay but what if Stiles wasn’t worried about Derek being dead because he knew he wasn’t?
Like, we all know sterek in season 3 is all about Stiles becoming Derek’s anchor, right? That’s the end game, at what they point at throughout the season. And we know because of Scott, that if your anchor is a person, you (that is, a werewolf) can hear your anchor’s heartbeat from insane distances, almost as if it weren’t the actual heartbeat but a sort of psychosomatic reaction/apparition for the werewolf’s sake. It wouldn’t be a stretch to say it could even be some sort of weird anchor magic, because it’s not like the show ever gave us rules of any kind on anchors (or on anything, really, but this post isn’t about that).
So, with that information, let’s say there is a connection between werewolf and anchor, which of course there is because we’re talking about a werewolf and their anchor, but I mean a more literal connection. Like Scott being able to hear Allison’s heartbeat from very fucking far away. Like Derek being able to break from a love spell by looking at Stiles.
Like maybe Stiles knowing, for some reason, that Derek isn’t dead?
