Changed it pretty quickly to Cayden to better fit the themes of the campaign, but still fun to think about what could have been if he was a chaotic monkey man worshipper instead

Becoming deeply radicalized against the idea of crewed Mars missions, y'know how the Rovers keep sending back better and better data what if instead of that we made an even bigger one and devoted nearly 90% of its capacity to holding a guy in a bubble on top of it instead of sending back useful data, but wait! They'll eliminate like a half hour of latency and also almost certainly contaminate the landing site and possibly the entire planet, so it's not all downside.

hey uh I've only used airbnb twice because I don't live in America but I'm seeing posts about how hotels are better in every way and while I can't speak to the accuracy of most arguments I'd like to point out the nuance that for people like me having access to a kitchen (something hotels basically never give) is absolutely a requirement if I'm staying more than like one night. The vast majority of food served in hotels and restaurants I can't eat and chances are I won't be able to check in advance if I'm going to run into enough exceptions to not make myself sick (twice I've gotten sick traveling because I wasn't able to find enough foods and spent a week eating like two ingredients, due to unforeseen complications). I need a kitchen or I can't risk going. Kitchenless hotel rooms are an accessibility issue.

i wonder what quirrel's job actually was

we get some snippets in game that yes, he was an apprentice of sorts to monomon & knows many things about hallownest in general -- but overall, we have no idea what actual things he may have researched

most fan interpretations of this i see make him very culturally aware in mostly a socio-economic-political way. like he's done some sort of political science degree. it makes sense due to his wide knowledge of the kingdom's intertwined politics and society.

however, he still seems to have some sort of appreciation for the physical landscape of hallownest? take the blue lake for example, him wanting to see the source of the rain or his comments on the hot springs.

everything could simply just be seen as a thirst for knowledge, but then again i think quirrel is much of an observer as he is as someone who just wants to learn: it's also much about experience to him.

therefore, putting everything i have together, quirrel simply must be:

a geographer

hot take but some of y'all with abusive and/or controlling parents would do better on the streets. I'm not gonna provide criteria for how to tell because i'm not an expert and everybody's situation is different, but here's a friendly reminder that they don't even have to lay a finger on you for this to be the case.

this kind of turned into a mini (NON-EXHAUSTIVE) advice post so:

Remember, if you think this might be you, please please please try to find a way to start researching what resources will be available to you, and try to leave on a weekday because many places are closed for intakes on weekends.

Reach out to people who you know will keep your concerns confidential. Find out who's considered a mandated reporter and what they absolutely have to report - which could differ from state to state/area.

You can pack a 'go bag' without raising suspicions if you frame it as an emergency preparation for, say, a house fire or natural disaster. I would highly recommend investing a nice duffel bag.

Bring lots of trash bags and/or grocery bags and lots of extra socks (laundry programs lose socks all the time). If you're bringing canned food, get your own can opener.

If you have a food allergy, I would highly recommend prioritizing getting on food stamps, as many shelters and programs straight-up will not accommodate your allergies.

Anyways this absolutely wasn't meant to be an advice post or masterlist of what to do and what not to do but if y'all wanna add on i think that'd be great. as with any advice, your mileage may vary.

(ice cold take but if you're a parent and your kid would do better on the streets than in their own damn home with their own damn family then you've done fucked up and i think you should pay your child One Million Dollars For Everything. Per year. Forever.)
