it started out with you moving next door to him

it had always been a dream of yours to live in the countryside 

and finding the most perfect house right next to a scenic peach farm was perfect!

and it became even more perfect when your neighbour first introduced himself to you

he knocked on your door the morning after you moved in with a box of peaches in his hand

the first thing you saw when you opened the door was his chest

because, yeah…

you soon realized your neighbour was as tall as a peach tree himself

an absolute giant compared to you

you couldn’t help but be a little intimidated just by his height

but as soon as he gave you his friendly smile, you felt at ease

and you soon learned a lot of things about your new neighbour, sanghyun

he knew absolutely everyone in the town and was happy to introduce you to everyone

“this is my new neighbour, y/n!”

he quickly became the person you always turned to whenever you needed any help

he was happy to help you move the heavy furniture into your new home and help you set it up

and after an exhausting day of moving, he made dinner for you (and peach cobbler for dessert!)

he was always there whenever you needed something, and somehow, he always had the right supplies for whatever job you were doing

he’d drive you around in his truck if you ever had any errands to do

and after a while, he might as well have been attached at your hip

it didn’t take too long for the whole town to tell that he was whipped for you 

and they just LOVED to tease him about it too

for a while, he denied that he had any feelings for you

but after a couple weeks of the halmoni's teasing him until he realizes his own feelings, he stops denying it

the truth is, he is absolutely down bad for you.

and at the point that the town started also teasing you as well, the feelings were obviously mutual

it didn’t take long for you and sanghyun to get together with the whole town shipping the relationship 

and sanghyun is the sweetest boyfriend in existence like truly :(

because he lives next door, he’s always walking you home and staying with you late before going back to his house

he’ll have dinner with you and talk late at night

and lots of stargazing together

and in the morning, he’ll get you coffee from his coffee stand

he’s just very attentive

he absolutely loves when he can be helpful

and because you were on the shorter side, this man thinks you are actually the cutest thing in the world

i mean, he's a giant himself, like literally 185cm???

the height difference is just so stark, but he loves it

he loves that he has extra excuses to help you out when you can’t reach something

he loves that it’s so easy to pick you off your feet

he loves that he can carry you around with ease

he loves how small your frame feels in comparison to his when he hugs you

he just adores it all

there are a few things he complains about

like the constant cramps in his neck from leaning down to kiss you

he tries to make an effort to kiss you while sitting down cause bending down so far is hard lmfao

he also can’t help but tease you about your height

he’ll purposefully put things high up on the shelves so that you have to ask him to help you reach it

and he also feigns ignorance and pretends like he doesn’t put them there on purpose

“that’s just where my arm extends to”

but you know that he does it so that you have to ask him for help

and you don’t mind because you see how smiley he gets when you do ask him to help you

he just gets butterflies, he loves the feeling so much <3

you learned to not complain about being short, because that was basically asking him to tease you even more

“just drink some milk, babe, i’m sure you’ll be a couple centimetres taller by tomorrow”

and to counteract his constant teasing, you love to tease him back

whenever he bumps his head on doorposts (which happens a LOT)

you can’t help but giggle as he clutches his head in pain

“you’re going to end up in the ER one day, love”

but he always gets soooooo pouty whenever you tease him back

he just looks at you with the biggest puppy dog eyes and despite his height he ends up looking so small in the moment

so of course you go kiss his head better and tell him to be more careful next time

if you really want to get a reaction out of him

you’ll refuse to kiss him when sitting next to him

which is always the time he goes in for a kiss since it’s one of the rare times your lips are at the same level as his

and he’ll start getting whiney and complain until you finally stop teasing and give him as many kisses as you want

sanghyun never used to need a lot of ladders because he had the height to pick all the peaches without them

but once you became his partner, he bought a lot of ladders lol

because you wanted to help him with his peaches!! and who was he to say no?

he happily carries the ladders around for you and sets them against any tree for you to go pick the fresh peaches

it’s a team effort <3

a lot of your dates end up having something to do with the peaches

but you love it

you get to experiment with a lot of different peach recipes in the kitchen with him

you make a lot of desserts: peach cobbler, peach pie, peach muffins, peach cake, peach crumble, peach crisp, peach sorbet, peach preserves

you name it, you’ve made it with sanghyun

and also a lot of drinks: peach cocktails, peach teas, peach smoothies

sanghyun and you can think of endless ways to use the peaches

and while it does get a bit old sometimes, always having so many peaches, they’re always so fresh and sweet and juicy

because sanghyun takes such good care of them

but he doesn’t take care of anything as well as he takes care of you <3

you became his top priority as soon as he became your boyfriend

and he always makes sure he’s there for you with whatever you need

to be honest, not much changed when he became your boyfriend

you got to hug him and kiss him and spend your whole day with him

but he was your friend before anything else, and that feeling never left throughout the changes in your relationship

honestly 10/10 boyfriend material™️

Once Upon a Small Town (2022)

It's hard to dislike this show, even if it's the TV equivalent of a giant fluffy bag of cotton candy. It's short, sweet, safe, and uses a bunch of familiar tropes. It feels like Hometown Cha x 3 only with a smaller budget, and way more farm animals.

There's a meet cute, followed by a long lost Childhood Connection, with both leads having an Orphan Family Story, as well as a Double Love Triangle with a Surprise Ex-Girlfriend. The writing feels lazy, but they manage to do just enough work that it doesn't feel like pandering. You know from the beginning that the OTP will make it okay, and that the love pentagram will be complete, with everyone important paired off just in time for the last episode.

The Performances

Park Soo-young (aka "Joy") as Ahn Ja-young. Park Soo-young has an entire career as part of a K-pop group (which I know nothing about), but she's started to branch out into acting. She's pretty good in this. I think it helps that this is a small series with no one there to outshine her, but she's onscreen with kids, and animals, and (despite the cliche) she isn't completely upstaged. I even felt genuine feels a couple of times from her performance.

Chu Young-woo as Han Ji-yul. The other lead is also a very young actor, but kept enough of my interest that I never got bored with him. Again, it helped that his character was a bit of a stoic, but he was obviously trying his best and had a few good moments, especially the episode with the Old Man and the 30-year-old Bull. I wouldn't say his chemistry was off the charts, but this was basically the Korean equivalent of a Lifetime Movie, so it didn't have to be.

Park Ye-ni as Young-Sook. I picked this show up because I enjoyed watching her play a side character in You Are My Spring. The writers didn't give her much to work with until the end, but she did a good job with it and was able to bring out a few good moments in the last 3-4 episodes when they gave her something to do. Still funny and fun to watch.

Baek Seong-cheol as Lee Sang-hyeon. Normally, this character is the boring third wheel, and his/her job is to help the OTP figure out their feelings and then disappear. One of the smarter things the writers did was to make this character be a childhood friend who is a pretty decent guy. Instead of just getting dumped on, he was helpful and supportive of Ahn Ja-young. He just wanted something that she didn't. The downside to this choice is that it can make all of the characters seem indecisive and wishy-washy, but the acting (especially from Baek Seong-cheol) was good enough that you felt like you understood and respected the characters instead.

Everyone else. The Auntie brigade was fun. The small town cops were okay. The little kiddos were largely okay, and even good in a few places. All of the side characters (including Old Guy With 30-year-old Bull) were good. The actor who played the ex-girlfriend was very new but didn't mess things up. So there's no big complaints.

TL; DR:

It's a cute show that you can just put on with dinner or in the background and not worry about it. It knows what it's trying to do, and it manages to accomplish most of those goals without screwing up. If you like fluffy romance stories, you'll probably enjoy this.

İşte dizi 3 gencin etrafında dönen kısa ve anlık durumlardan oluşuyor.

Birçok köyde geçen diziyi anımsatsa da, diğer köy dizilerindeki karakterler gibi dramatik geçmişler konu edilmemişti. Aksine bu dizide kırsal kesim ne kadar mutlu mesajı veriyordu. O kadar gündelik bir hikayeydi ki, yer yer kopukluklar oluyordu. İkili konuşmalardaki sakinlik zaman zaman sıkıcı bir hal alabiliyordu. Aradığınız şey bu değilse, ya da herhangi bir şey arıyorsanız yanlış yerdesiniz diyebilirim.

Kore dizisi olmasının verdiği yetkiye dayanarak klişe bir şey yapalım diye düşünmüş, ellerindeki sınırlı sayıdaki oyuncuya aşk üçgeni yazalım demişler. O bile yorucu olmayan alkolü kaçmış kolonya gibiydi. Aslında çocukken tanışmışlar başlığı yapılan ikinci adım ile de klişe limitini noktalamışlar. Üzerine de küçük kırsal kesim vs büyük şehir başlıklı bir kıyas serpiştirilmiş.

Özetle, uzun uzadıya anlatılabilecek bir durum söz konusu olmadığından söyleyecek başka bir şeyim yok. Sakin, sessiz, durağan ve olağan bir hikaye için bir gün ayırmak istiyorsanız, tek oturuşta bitecektir.

I think there really isn't much to say about this kdrama. It's good (or okay I don't really know how to put it), but in my opinion it's kind of forgettable. It's not a show I can recall completely and even then there's times I forget I've watched it (I did not have it written down in my original spreadsheet for the longest time).

I think it's a cute concept and a cute drama overall, I did like it and I definitely believe people could enjoy it! It's a feel-good romance I guess.

Things I "hate"

1- Horror stuff, I can't deal with any horror things, I'm very sensible to the topic. Just watching the first season of Stranger Things my blood pressure dropped. (It has also dropped in a biology class where we were studying genetic diseases or syndroms.) So yeah, can't deal with that. (Sorry yeah that means I avoid halloween content a lot)

2- Arachnidis, I can't see one without getting a reaction also if I decide the animal looks like one I also won't be chill taking a look at it.

3- Dark, nictophobia is my phobia number one, while I was growing I have learned to control it better, but I rather keep even a small light next to me in case I need it.

4- Injustice, I always try to stand up if I think something wrong is happening to someone, I don't care what other people think. If I believe it's incorrect and needs to be changed Imma do it. I have fought even my family because of things like this. I won't hate you for this, I'll just try and stand up in favor of it.

5- Disrespect, same description of the above if you're wrong in doing it so. Imma talk 'bout it. Imma display my mind on the topic.
