Pack omega max my baby….did he get picked after seb left? Was seb “training” him and giving him advice how to handle it from his own experiences (and mistakes, especially when it comes to rookies and newcomers)? Who’s the pack alpha alongside max?

things were somewhat chaotic when seb was leaving- max is outed as an omega around 2018/2019 to the pack, and then to the public in 2021 during the title fight.

seb retired in 2022, and while there were other omegas on the grid at that point, they were all too young and/or inexperienced.

max is the most experienced omega available at that point, but he's still got a somewhat strained relationship with the pack. so despite seb asking him to take on the role of pack omega after he leaves, max doesn't feel qualified for it. his bonds aren't strong enough, and he's not sure he'd be able to get over the history he has with some of the older pack members.

without a pack omega, there's a first chunk of the 2023 that is a complete shitshow. the pack is disorganized, and lewis can't manage it all on his own. max ends up putting aside his personal thoughts on some of the grid, because at the end of the day it's just instincts- he cares about these people, and they need someone to step in.

he takes on the pack omega role initially to do damage control- get the grid back in order, make sure they have a functioning nest to stay in, sitting two alphas down who are squabbling and not letting them leave until they've actually talked about their feelings.

max only means to do that for a little bit, until the pack can get a real pack omega in the role, and then he'll dip again. because obviously the pack still doesn't want him.

meanwhile, the pack is thinking of max as the pack omega.

TL;DR: there was actually no training period. in typical f1 fashion it was mismanaged and a total mess.
