Key Market Drivers
1. Rising Demand for High-Quality Inflight Content
Today's travelers expect an engaging inflight entertainment experience. Airlines are increasingly investing in diverse and rich content offerings to meet this demand, with popular options like movies, TV series, and music. According to Honeywell, 73% of passengers consider the quality of the inflight experience an important factor when choosing an airline. Furthermore, 89% of travelers now view fast Wi-Fi as essential for streaming content during flights, prompting airlines like JetBlue and Southwest Airlines to introduce high-speed connectivity on their fleets.
2. Technological Advancements
Technological advancements have made it possible for airlines to deliver high-quality entertainment and internet access. Innovations like cloud-based streaming and 5G connectivity enable passengers to access vast content libraries seamlessly. For instance, cloud-based systems allow airlines to refresh content more frequently, providing a continuously updated selection of entertainment options.
3. New Revenue Streams for Airlines
In addition to enhancing passenger satisfaction, inflight content serves as a potential revenue source for airlines. Many airlines now offer premium content that passengers can purchase during their flight. Additionally, the integration of targeted advertising and partnerships with streaming services generates ancillary revenue.
Market Restraints
1. Data Security Concerns
With the rise of digital inflight entertainment platforms, data security has become a crucial concern. Passengers' viewing preferences, personal information, and payment details are stored on these platforms, raising the risk of data breaches. The potential for unauthorized access to sensitive information could make passengers hesitant to use onboard connectivity services, affecting the overall adoption rate of IFE systems.
2. High Installation and Maintenance Costs
Implementing and maintaining IFE systems is a significant expense for airlines. The cost of installing seatback screens, servers, and connectivity infrastructure is high, with ongoing maintenance and upgrades required to keep the systems up-to-date. Smaller airlines or those with tight budgets may find these costs prohibitive, potentially limiting their ability to offer advanced inflight entertainment options.

Key Market Opportunities
1. Cloud-Based Content Streaming
The trend of cloud-based content streaming presents a considerable opportunity for airlines to deliver seamless and high-quality entertainment. With cloud technology, airlines can provide a broader and more frequently updated selection of content, enhancing the inflight experience for passengers. This method allows content to be stored remotely and streamed directly to passengers' devices, reducing the need for pre-loaded media on aircraft.
2. Rise in Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) Models
As passengers increasingly prefer using their personal devices for entertainment, airlines can reduce costs associated with installing seatback screens. By offering Wi-Fi connectivity and a content streaming platform, airlines can provide a personalized entertainment experience while avoiding the added weight and maintenance of seatback IFE systems.
Market Challenges
1. Expensive Installation and Equipment Costs
Installing IFE systems is capital-intensive. Airlines must invest in advanced hardware, such as high-quality screens and servers, which can increase operational costs due to added weight and fuel consumption. Regular updates are also required to keep up with technological advancements, which can add to the long-term expenses.
2. Variability in Internet Connectivity
Providing consistent internet connectivity across different flight paths and altitudes remains challenging. Connectivity interruptions can lead to passenger dissatisfaction, as they expect seamless access to streaming services. Airlines must navigate these challenges to meet passenger expectations for continuous internet access.
Inflight Content Market Segmentation
1. By Type: Movies Leading the Way
The inflight content market can be segmented by type into movies, TV shows, music, games, and other forms of entertainment. The movie segment is expected to experience the highest growth rate at a CAGR of 6.9% from 2024 to 2029. Airlines offer a wide range of films, from recent releases to international cinema, catering to diverse tastes.
2. By Access Method: Rise of Portable Devices
Inflight content is accessed either through seatback screens or personal devices. The use of portable devices is gaining popularity due to the increasing adoption of BYOD models. Passengers can stream content directly onto their smartphones, tablets, or laptops, offering flexibility and reducing costs for airlines.
3. By Operation Mode: Stored Content Still Leading
While cloud streaming is gaining traction, stored content remains dominant. This method allows passengers to enjoy entertainment without relying on Wi-Fi availability, providing a consistent inflight experience regardless of internet connectivity.
4. By Platform: Commercial Aviation Holds the Lion’s Share
Commercial aviation dominates the inflight content market, as airlines prioritize providing a comprehensive entertainment experience on long-haul flights. High-quality inflight content has become a key differentiator in the commercial aviation sector, helping airlines build customer loyalty and enhance the passenger experience.

what are your thoughts on Larian walking away from BG3/BG4/DLCs?
What a great question!!
So, first to acknowledge my own feelings as a gamer, as a fan of BG3, of the franchise, and, of course, of Astarion : I'm naturally a bit bummed. I would love to play more, read more, watch something, anything really.
Added to that, I also don't trust an outside team to come in to pick up the vision of the original team. I've seen it happen with other games, where the base game was one studio and the DLC was outsourced or they onboarded a new studio to take on it on as the main development team moved on to the next big project. It rarely, if ever, has worked out well.
My hope on the Hasbro/WotC side is that they leave BG3 alone to live on as a behemoth in the history of gaming... however, knowing how game publishers are, how much money BG3 made, the player interest in more content, etc -- there is no way that Hasbro is leaving money like that to the wayside.
Best case scenario I see on this side: they make auxiliary content, like books, toys, comics.
Worst case scenario: they outsource a new game team for DLC.
As for BG4, I honestly didn't expect that to be Larian's next project anyway (I was expecting Divinity 3, so feeling a different disappointment there haha). That being said, I don't think WotC or Hasbro know (and I mean this at the executive level of course) why BG3 did well. There are honestly a ton of factors on why BG3 did well, but that's for another post lol, but I don't think they could replicate that for BG4 with another studio. Doesn't mean I don't think it will be good-- it might be! It will just be very different.
Best case scenario here: they have a good studio make BG4 and it's still good, but it's different.
Worse case scenario here: they try to have a studio replicate what Larian did instead of tapping into their talents, and end up with a buggy, unfun mess. Also they bring back characters just to try to get people to buy it. 🥲
Now, as a game dev, what do I think of Larian's choice in all of this?
I LOVE IT. Wow, Swen Vincke is doing what every single developer wishes they could do if they actually had the power, money, and the influence to do it.
I have wished in the past for my studios to abandon projects, but sometimes it really was necessary to try to keep the studio afloat. As much as you want to work on a passion project, very rarely is it actually something that will keep the lights on. Oftentimes you will have to make that deal with Hasbro for a license or that deal with Epic for exclusivity just to recoup costs. Making games is expensive and, if you want to make anything at the scale that BG3 is, you usually need a lot of partnerships (a lot of their GDC talks were part of partnerships, like Dolby, Amazon, Adobe).
So the fact that they had such a success with BG3 to actually, comfortably follow their creative passions? Wow, wow, wow-- I am rooting for them so hard. I want them to make exactly the game they want and take all the time they need to do it.
Now, even knowing that Hasbro had something to do with this, was what he said about the developers not feeling passionate about the DLC true? Yeah, probably.
I've never seen something kill creative passion more (even if it's for a franchise you like or a game you've loved working on) than a directive from the top for something that's clearly just meant to make people above you more money. And with each partnership comes approvals, comes red tape, comes stakeholders that want to dictate what's in the game (oftentimes to the detriment of the game)-- and the game team can't even object because it's not their license or their brand.
The fact that Larian can say, 'screw that, I don't need more money from you' is truly such an anomaly in gaming. I am so very in awe of them as a developer-- it feels like someone breaking free of the system and paving the way forward for the rest of us. So whatever they do next, I will be there to support them.
BG3 is their most successful game so far, and I'm hopeful they will continue to push those boundaries. They've proven with each release that the core of their studio remains the same: immersive/massive RPG experiences, community-feedback focused improvements, and a well-balanced studio.
The tldr for all of this: I've loved Larian's choices so far and, while I'm bummed as a player, as a game dev I can't wait to see where this one takes them!
#cosmicchocomuffin#ask#bg3#larian#ty again for such a good question!!!#i love larian and their choices as a studio#i know people can and should be critical of some things they do#but i cannot stress enough how phenomenal it is to see a studio like them succeed

Shooting lessons
A/N: This short fic is for my friend @moonstrider9904 who has been having a bit of a rough time here in the fandom even though she is a very light and warm presence. She allowed me to borrow her OC Clair from her fanfiction Moonlight for this. You should all go check it out (and reblog it!). I would really appreciate it if you reblogged this, as that is the only way to support creators on tumblr.
Summary: Clair needs to know how to defend herself if she’s gonna stay with The Bad Batch, and Crosshair is more than willing to teach her.
Warnings: Sexual themes, guns, cursing, grinding, unprotected PiV sex (Clair has an implant and clones get tested regularly. Only safe sex is good sex, kids.), use of ‚good girl‘ but only like twice
Word Count: 2.5k

„Are you sure we need to be this far away?“ Clair asked her boyfriend, Crosshair, as he was leading the way through the forest. The sun was already starting to set, which made it very hard for someone with regular eyesight to see through the thick flora and made Clai squint a bit.
„Sure I’m sure, Princess. I don’t have a hunting license for this planet yet, so we need to stay far away from any civilians.“, Crosshair calmly explains, turning to her with a barely-there but soft smile. „We’re almost there“
He led her into a small clearing that was surrounded by trees of various thicknesses, perfect for shooting practice. „Here we are.“
Clair looked around and took in the beauty of the nature around her- the soft sound of leaves rustling in the wind, the smell of the clean grass, the pretty flowers strewn about the forest ground. It was a nice change of pace from either being onboard the marauder or somewhere in the city all the time.
She knelt down to inspect some mushrooms that grew on a boulder at the edge of the clearing. They were a soft brown color and quite round, smelling really delicious even uncooked. Clair immediately had a dozen recipes for them in mind. „Berry Pie, look! I have never seen such beautiful mushrooms before, I bet I could make a delicious risotto with them!“, she said excitedly, reaching out to touch them.
Crosshair chuckled and kneeled down beside her, gently catching her wrist. He found her fascination for food and plants admirable and adorable, but they came here for a very specific reason. „Later, Dumpling.“, he spoke softly, taking her hand and kissing it.
Clair chuckled sheepishly and tucked a strand of her long, black hair behind her ear. „Heh, sorry. You know how I am sometimes.“.
With a chuckle, the sharpshooter helped her get back to her feet. „I do, and it is precious. But let's do shooting now and cooking later, hm?“. He started setting up his gun rack- he didn’t need it, but Clair certainly did.
„I’m not sure that I should start with something as big as a rifle…“, Clair said, shrugging off her jacket and placing it by his gear onto the ground to have more freedom of movement.
„Firepuncher is a great place to start, trust me. If you can control her, you can handle any gun. Besides- we both know how good you are with big things, hm?“, Crosshair winked at her, causing Clair to go weak in the knees and blush profusely. „You’re lucky no one else heard that…“, She grumbled.
Crosshair just chuckled to himself and stepped away with one hand still on the gun, inviting her to step in front of him. Clair obliged happily, caging herself between his awaiting arms. Immediately, she felt cozy and safe being so close to her lover.
„Okay. Have you ever shot a gun before?“, The sniper asked as he helped her position her body, lowering her shoulders with his hands. She shook her head. „That’s okay. I’m sure you’ll catch on quickly.“
He set the rifle to stun and stepped away slightly to observe her. „Why don’t you show me how you think you need to hold her?“, Came his suggestion as he stuck a toothpick between his lips.
A little unsure of herself, Clair nodded and got into stance, trying to imitate what she had seen him do countless of times. It couldn’t be that hard, right? She grabbed the gun, lowered her head to the scope and placed a finger on the trigger.
Crosshair snickered with his arms crossed. „Very adorable, but if you shot like that, you’d lose an eye and break several bones.“, He said with a little smirk, casually gnawing on his toothpick. Clair only scoffed and pouted in return, crossing her arms in the same way he always did when flaws were pointed out to him. „Well- I’ve never done this before! I thought you were gonna teach me!“, she protested, shooting him a glare.
Slowly, Crosshair flicked his toothpick from one corner of his lip to the other, then spat it on the ground and took a stand behind her, leaning in very close and sliding his arms down her shoulders to cover her own. „I am.“, He murmured in her ear, the low and rumble sound calming Clair‘s nerves while also sending a delightful shiver right down her spine. She could feel the warmth radiating off his chest and into her back, seeing as he was wearing a comfortable shirt and some jeans today.
Clair felt a foot being nudged between both of hers, and soon, Crosshair had gently kicked them apart so she was standing firmly and securely. „She’s got a lot of recoil. If you don’t have proper balance, she’s gonna knock you over.“, he explained in a murmur. His warm breath tickled her ear and his lips softly grazed the shell of it as he explained, and Clair was pretty sure he was doing that on purpose.
She tried to focus nevertheless and let him position her arms and finger correctly, doing her best to ignore how softly yet firmly his fingers were handling hers. „There. Now just close your eyes and take a deep breath with me. You’ve got this, Dumpling.“, He encouraged, his hands now sliding down to rest comfortably on her hips. But that simple touch was enough to make Clair take a shaky breath in and out, fighting the urge to squeeze her legs together.
„Mh-hmm…“, she murmured, opening her eyes again and desperately trying to hold the gun correctly despite her hands getting clammy.
Crosshair smirked, slowly starting to notice what this was doing to her. Perhaps he could make this training lesson much, much more interesting. He certainly couldn’t blame her for feeling the way she did. Due to everything being so busy and hectic, it’s been many rotations since him and Clair were able to nurture their sex life, and he found himself craving her closeness.
„Good job,“, Crosshair practically purred, his grip on her hips becoming more firm and purposeful, kneading the soft flesh over her dress ever so slightly. „now look through the scope, focus on your target, and shoot.“, He instructed, actually placing a kiss on her ear this time. Her scent and delicate frame against him were making him lose his focus too and he felt his lower regions stir.
„Cross-“, Clair gasped softly, a pleading look in her darkened eyes as she turned her head to look at him. It took everything in Crosshair not to scoop her up and take her against the nearest tree, but he certainly did not want to be the one to lose his resolve first.
„Focus, cyar‘ika. Take the shot.“, He instructed again, nodding towards the target.
With another whimper, Clair turned back to the scope and looked at the target. After taking another deep breath, she curled the two fingers that rested on the trigger and shot, completely missing the tree she was supposed to hit.
But she did not focus on that; the recoil was just as hard as he had warned her it would be and it had flung her back into his torso, causing him to let out a grunt as her ass made contact with his clothed, but half hardened cock.
„You didn’t focus, Dumpling. You missed.“, He said lowly, one of his hands creeping up her thigh and under the hem of her dress. „Again.“
„Crosshair please, I can't focus like this…“, Clair begged in a coarse and desperate voice, pressing herself back up against him with purpose this time. She could actually feel the wetness that had soaked through her panties at that point, and if Crosshair would move his hand up just a bit further, he would feel it too.
„Only good students get a reward, doll. Hit the target, and I’ll give you what you want.“, he promised her, nibbling on her ear and still caressing her thigh with his long and dexterous fingers.
Clair knew he wouldn’t let up, not even if she dropped onto her knees in front of him right now. If her boyfriend had a goal in mind, he did anything to see it through.
With a frustrated sigh, she blinked her eyes a couple of times to at least try and regain some focus, then looked through the scope and attempted another shot.
She did not miss this time, and as a reward, she immediately felt Crosshair‘s middle finger pressing precisely up against her clothed clit. She moaned, throwing her head back onto his shoulder as he stroked her in slow but calculated circles.
„Good girl…“, He attached his lips to her neck now, moving her panties to the side to swipe his fingers through her soaked folds. She was a complete mess, holding onto the rifle for dear life has her boyfriend fingered her in the middle of the clearing.
„Please… Cross, i…“, she moaned, rolling her hips against his fingers to get more of the friction he was denying her. She felt so good, all the pent up arousal from the last few weeks hit her at once and her head was spinning from it.
„One more. You can do one more.“ Crosshair encouraged, his own voice breaking at the edges. This was one of his biggest fantasies coming true, but he wanted to see how far he could push her- and himself. His cock was painfully hard inside his pants and every roll of her hips sent jolts of pleasure through his body.
Clair was drunk off of the thought of finally getting what she wanted, what she needed, and looked through the scope again to shoot one last time to make him happy. Just as she was pulling the trigger though, Crosshair slipped two fingers into her dripping heat, curling them deliciously.
„Fuck-“, Clair moaned out, the sound echoing off the trees surrounding the clearing. She finally surrendered and let go of the firepuncher, gripping onto his arm for support instead as he moved his digits inside of her.
„Tell me what you want, doll. Tell me and I'll give it to you…“, Crosshair murmured as he was leaving his mark on her neck, moving his hips against her ass before the pent up arousal would drive him insane.
Clair whined, already finding herself at the brink of an orgasm. „Y-your cock… please…“, her voice was failing her, but Crosshair understood. In the blink of an eye, he scooped her up into his arms and found the thickest tree trunk he could find to push her up against, his lips immediately connecting with hers. Clair moaned into it shamelessly, holding onto his shoulders and neck for support, though she knew he’d never let her fall regardless.
With one hand, Crosshair expertly undid his belt and zipper to finally free his weeping length from its confinement, sighing in relief at the mild evening breeze brushing over his hot tip.
He didn’t let that feeling linger, though, as he aligned himself with his girlfriend‘s entrance, breaking the kiss to look her in the eyes, giving her a chance to back out if she didn’t want this. But nothing in Clair‘s expression said that she wanted him to stop, quite the opposite. She wrapped her legs tighter around his waist and dug her heels into his thighs to bring him in closer.
„Fuck me, Cross.“, She panted, the fire in her eyes burning brighter than the setting sun above the crowns of the trees around them. The sniper understood that order loud and clear and slid home in one swift movement, causing the couple to moan out in unison while still looking into one another‘s eyes.
A hazy smirk took over Crosshair‘s face as he saw what effect he had on her once again, before starting to move in and out of her in a pace they both loved.
Clair‘s head lolled back against the tree from the feeling. She couldn’t form a coherent sentence even if she tried, but she still wanted him to know how good he made her feel. „Cross… love this… love you…“, she panted, her hand coming up to feebly unbutton the front of her dress to reveal her breasts to him, bouncing with each one of his thrusts.
Crosshair groaned lowly at the sight, unable to tear his eyes away. „Fuck, doll… I love you too… you feel so fucking amazing… such a good girl… a good shot too… would have taken you shooting ages ago… if i knew it would be ending like this…“, He smirked cockily, picking up his thrusts.
All Clair could do as a response was to moan, and clench and flutter around his cock, her orgasm finally washing over her body and making her legs shake around him.
The sight of her eyes rolling back, her hair framing her beautiful face and her breasts bouncing combined with the feeling of her gripping him like a vice is what did it for him. He pinned himself against her even closer and, with a couple staggered thrusts, emptied himself deep inside of her with a low moan of her name.
When the initial moment of panting into each other‘s necks was over, Crosshair pulled away slightly to look into her eyes, a tired but happy grin on his face.
Clair looked similarly, only that her cheeks were rosy and a thin sheen of sweat covered her soft face, her brown eyes sparkling with love and satisfaction. „Hi.“, She whispered, followed by a little giggle.
A warm and long kiss was placed upon her plump lips. „Hi to you too.“, Crossair murmured, adjusting his grip on her so that he was hugging her more than simply just holding her up. The sun was almost gone now, and it was slowly starting to get chilly. „We should probably head back, hm?“, He tucked some loose strands behind her ear and caressed her face.
A devious smirk took over Clair‘s features. „But i haven’t had a good shot yet.“, She said, her voice filled with false innocence.
Crosshair matched her expression and tipped her chin up. „I guess we have to keep trying, then.“.
They didn’t leave that clearing until the crack of dawn.

Made a collection of simple headshots of the major “eras” of Quantum’s character! :} First off we got Prewar (pink) which was when she was under the “employ” of a high caste seeker named Jetset. She wasn’t allowed to have any control over her appearance, and Jetset liked having her accessories being color coordinated… She didn’t have a name of her own, and generally had no freedom over herself, with her slowly taking control of that as things led up to her joining the Decepticons. (First body modification was to insulate the interior of her armor plating, to muffle sound. This made sneaking away easier.) Upon joining the ‘cons, she named herself, destroyed her paintjob, and tore off parts of her plating.
Next is “Hellfire” which was during the war off of Cybertron. Here Quantum had showed enough competence and success as a weapons designer, that she was then allowed to be in charge of her own weapon production plant. This plant was called Hadal Station, and it was located on a molten planet that rained glass. It had a strong barrier to protect itself from the weather, with the weather providing natural protection from any Autobots who wanted to infiltrate the structure. Due to the storms, arrivals and departures had to be timed or else you’d be stuck within the station’s walls until the next clearance. Or you could brave the weather which was known to rip ships to shreds. This particular frame was Quantum’s most monstrous appearance, with it being probably the most intimidating and largest out of her frames over the years. It quite fittingly looked like a beast that had crawled out of the depths of hell, with a color scheme like molten lava, and piercing ice blue optics. The station was eventually destroyed when a team of Autobots were able to time their infiltration with the weather- Quantum toying with them as they tried to steal blueprints. A few survivors had made it to her control room where they thought they had the upper hand finally… Only for her to initiate a self destruct sequence, give them an adieu, and escape with backups of her projects’ schematics.
Finally,, the present day Quantumsnnd (purble) This is Quantum’s Earth appearance with her having a workshop hidden on the planet’s surface. (In an abandoned warehouse in some deep woods in Texas.) She had made a name for herself to the locals in a nearby town as a cryptid, dubbed “The Devil of Whitetail Pointe”. She finds this very amusing and likes to take pictures with cryptid posters while disguised. Whenever she’s not working on weapons of mass destruction and generally being a menace towards any bot unlucky to be graced with her presence, she likes to spend her time collecting various doodads to decorate her workshop with, ranging from stolen license plates, pieces of glass and other garbage turned into sun catchers to hang from the ceiling near the warehouse’s windows, various human tech, and whatever else she’s either stolen or dug out of a dumpster under the cover of darkness. She has a very large array of speakers, and tends to blast the worst music imaginable. (“OHOHOHO WHY ITS CALLED PRIMUS, MY DEAR COMMANDER! ::}”) She also tends to…. “Recycle” various parts she can recover from battlefields… eeehhhhh. Quantum generally doesn’t interact with the Nemesis crew often as (they find her absolutely obnoxious, but too good at her job to get rid of) she doesn’t really like “the drama” onboard the ship- with her only interactions being weapon drop offs, taking new orders, being given junk to repair- mostly turret systems that got shot at, and progress updates done remotely. Had the pleasure of explaining what a hurricane was during one of them as she was trying to keep her roof from leaking during the call. She has absolutely NO intentions on ever returning to Cybertron, and this is probably the most content with life she’s ever been despite… everything.

Dungeons & Dragons content creators are fighting to protect their livelihoods
More than 54,000 fans signed an open letter in protest of a new game license
Amanda Silberling@asilbwrites / 11:17 AM EST•January 12, 2023
Once a game on the periphery for the nerdiest of nerds, Dungeons & Dragons has exploded into the mainstream. Much of this success is owed to the podcasters, Twitch streamers and writers who have embraced the fantasy framework to tell collaborative stories at the whims of their dice rolls, inspiring massive renewed interest in the game.
“I think we’re in a really interesting moment in D&D,” Catie Osborn, a Dungeons & Dragons content creator with over 1.6 million TikTok followers, told TechCrunch. “You have [a new edition of the game] that’s about to come out, and you have also at the same time, all of these third-party writers, and people writing modules, and all of the different stuff that they’re adding into the community.”
Though Dungeons & Dragons was first published in 1974, a new generation of fans has found an entry point through independent “actual play” shows like Dropout’s “Dimension 20” or the McElroy brothers’ “The Adventure Zone.” In 2021, a Twitch leak revealed that the platform’s highest-paid channel was “Critical Role,” a highly produced stream in which a crew of professional voice actors play Dungeons & Dragons live. The show made over $9.6 million that year.
These hugely popular shows are only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the Dungeons & Dragons fan community. Thanks to the longstanding Open Gaming License (OGL), which has been in effect since 2000, a slew of internet creators are making a modest living off of the game, whether they’re performing on livestreams, writing original spell books or coding online platforms for remote gameplay.
Now, proposed changes to the OGL threaten an entire cohort of Dungeons & Dragons content creators.
Wizards of the Coast (WoTC), the Hasbro-owned publisher of the game, plans to update the OGL for the first time in over 22 years, releasing a new licensing system that the company is calling OGL 1.1. Some creators who received copies of OGL 1.1 have leaked it across the internet, sparking an outcry of resistance from fans and content creators alike.
More than 54,000 people have signed an open letter against these changes as part of a movement called #OpenDND, organized by Mage Hand Press editor-in-chief Mike Holik.
“If this new license gains wide adoption, the tabletop landscape will fracture and lose its biggest onboarding mechanisms, shuttering the small businesses that populate your local cons and putting a stop to their creations,” the open letter says. “Innovation in the gaming industry will evaporate; your favorite games will be trapped in the past, instead of being allowed to migrate to your phone, virtual reality, and beyond. Diversity in the industry will shrink away, as projects from marginalized creators are effectively written out of the future.”
As a franchise, Dungeons & Dragons is not really one canonical story. Each time a new group plays the game, they create their own characters and plot lines that guide their improvisational roleplaying experience. Though WoTC will publish its own books of lore that players can choose to incorporate, the core of the game is pretty malleable and unspecific.
To play the game, players sculpt original fantasy characters from classes like sorcerers, druids and fighters, and the rules of Dungeons & Dragons provide skills, spells and ability stats that make up the game system. But as actual play shows and fan-made companion publications become more popular, Hasbro and WoTC executives have said that they want to turn the “undermonetized” Dungeons & Dragons property into a full-blown media franchise.
“The D&D strategy is a broad four-quadrant strategy, where we have this powerful brand that has similar awareness, say like ‘Lord of the Rings’ or ‘Harry Potter,’” said Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks on a December investor call. “And we’re going to imbue it with blockbuster entertainment.” The company is producing a Dungeons & Dragons TV show and movie, which is slated for release in March.
The problem, though, is that Dungeons & Dragons is merely a framework through which people create their own fantasy-inspired stories and games — there are no core characters or plot that unifies the interest of the whole community. The game’s playbooks feature some fan-favorite characters like Drizzt Do’Urden, a drow hero who resists his dark nature, or Count Strahd von Zarovich, an evil vampire villain. But it’s very possible for fans to dive deep into Dungeons & Dragons without ever even encountering these characters, since they are not essential to the game. It’s impossible to imagine a “Star Wars” fan who has never heard of Yoda, but you can play Dungeons & Dragons for years without ever knowing that Drizzt or Strahd exist.
“There is no main character of D&D, or I think another way of saying it is, you are the main character of D&D,” said Osborn, who is known online as Catieosaurus. “I think it could be fun to watch a movie about these adventures or whatever, but the appeal of D&D is that it’s about us — it’s about the stories that we tell together at a table.”
Hasbro did not respond to multiple requests for comment on its plans for OGL 1.1. A creator who received a copy of the updated license told TechCrunch that the new terms give WoTC ownership of any fan-made IP — so, if a creator writes an adventure for players to incorporate into their own Dungeons & Dragons campaign, WoTC has the right to reprint the creator’s work as their own without payment. It also endangers the existence of virtual tabletop software, which maked remote play possible.
Under the new license, as proposed, any creator who makes over $50,000 will have to report their income to WoTC, and those who make over $750,000 will have to pay a 25% royalty to the company on every dollar above that threshold. Though these dollar values may seem high, this applies to gross revenue, not profit.
“When you are creating content, you’re working on small margins. You’re hiring your own ecosystem of creators, designers, artists, everything,” said Noah Downs, a partner at Premack Rogers and Dungeons & Dragons livestreamer who has seen the OGL 1.1 document. “And a 25% royalty, even if it’s above a certain threshold, can absolutely destroy your margin, and in many cases, it can make it untenable to continue to produce.”
At Mage Hand Press, one of Holik’s Kickstarter campaigns for a Dungeons & Dragons expansion earned $704,467 from 7,710 backers. But he sees the royalty clause as a way for WoTC to make it harder for independent publishers to compete.
“A Kickstarter involves many small products, so your profit margins actually go down, because really, you’re going to offer people some dice, and some adventures, and a box set, and all of those individual things end up cutting into your profit margins pretty significantly,” Holik said. “Kickstarters don’t walk away with 80% of their money and profit. None of that is legitimate. I don’t know where they’re getting that 25% number beyond … they’re trying to squish competition completely.”
Not only would OGL 1.1 make it more difficult for Holik to turn a profit, but Downs says it would also grant WoTC the ability to publish independent creators’ work as its own.
“If you accept OGL 1.1, you’re granting Wizards of the Coast a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free sublicense,” Downs told TechCrunch. “That means they have the forever right, that you cannot revoke, to use your work without additional royalty … That section of the license is more detrimental to creators than the monetary part of the license.”
For those making actual play videos or podcasts, the new OGL has less of a direct effect.
“The OGL affects third-party creators of game materials. Podcasters are covered by the fan content policy,” said Eric Silver, game master of the TTRPG podcast “Join the Party.” But he is still concerned about how changes at WoTC could trickle down. “The fan policy contains a clause that says Wizards can shut down individual projects or creators that they deem harmful to Wizards’ brand. That makes me wonder if criticism of the company counts in their eyes as harmful, and if they’re counting on that fear to stifle pushback to policy changes. And they have demonstrated that they can and will change policies whenever it serves them with little warning.”
Currently, the fan-content policy allows creators to use WoTC’s IP so long as it’s free. Creators are allowed to earn income through sponsorships, ad revenue and donations, but they cannot paywall any content.
WoTC has remained eerily silent in light of the backlash against the leak of OGL 1.1. It’s not clear how, when, or if this change will go into effect, but the company said last year that it would make these changes in the beginning of 2023.
“The OGL literally changed my life,” said Osborn. “It’s why I’m able to do what I do. It’s how I make my income. And so it’s just kind of scary.”
Holik says that if OGL 1.1 goes into effect, he will have to restructure his entire business.
“I’d have to cancel two Kickstarters and take my Patreon down overnight,” said Holik. Through Patreon alone, Holik’s company makes almost $2,000 per month.
According to Osborn, the silver lining is that there are more games out there like Dungeons & Dragons. Though it’s inarguably the most popular TTRPG, fans have also gravitated to game systems like Monster of the Week, Fate, Blades in the Dark and Kids on Bikes. On websites like itch.io, an indie games marketplace, TTRPG players can find anything from a game about cheeky, party-crashing goats to a “Friday Night Lights”-inspired story about high school football.
“I don’t want to say it’s a good thing, but I think it has put the community in an incredible position. Like, if you look on Twitter, right now there’s so many conversations starting about what are other options? What are other games I can play?” Osborn said. “I think people are going to start seeing the wide variety of incredible games that have been made by small indie creators.”

Top 5 Reasons Agencies Are Embracing White Label WordPress Development for Scalability and Success
Agencies are constantly exploring ways to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and expand service offerings without overwhelming their in-house teams. For many, White Label WordPress Development Services have become a key strategy for scaling their businesses, offering high-quality services to clients without the added cost and time of building solutions from scratch. Here, we’ll explore the top five reasons why agencies are increasingly turning to white label solutions to meet their clients’ needs.
1. Increased Focus on Core Competencies
By leveraging white label WordPress development, agencies can focus on their core competencies and strategic goals. Rather than getting bogged down in technical details, teams can devote their time and resources to areas where they excel, like client management, brand strategy, or content marketing. White label development allows agencies to deliver fully customized WordPress solutions to clients without diverting their attention from revenue-driving activities.
For instance, a marketing agency can now offer comprehensive WordPress development services as part of their package without hiring specialized developers. This way, they increase their value to clients while focusing on what they do best.
2. Faster Project Turnaround Times
In an industry where deadlines are critical, white label WordPress development services enable agencies to deliver projects more efficiently. With pre-existing processes, development frameworks, and expertise provided by white label partners, projects move forward more quickly, allowing agencies to offer faster delivery without sacrificing quality.
With streamlined workflows and access to experienced developers, agencies can reduce time-to-market, leading to quicker onboarding of new clients and more time for ongoing support. This operational efficiency enhances client satisfaction and fosters long-term relationships, which is essential for agency growth.
3. Access to Specialized WordPress Expertise
The demand for sophisticated, feature-rich WordPress websites is growing. However, hiring and retaining a skilled development team with specific WordPress expertise can be costly and challenging, especially for small to mid-sized agencies. White label WordPress solutions provide agencies with access to top-tier development talent without the overhead costs associated with hiring.
White label partners are usually industry experts who stay updated on the latest WordPress trends, plugins, and development practices, ensuring that agencies can confidently deliver up-to-date solutions that meet their clients’ technical requirements. This access to expert skills allows agencies to offer custom WordPress solutions that stand out, increasing their competitive edge.
4. Cost Efficiency and Scalability
One of the most significant benefits of using white label services is the ability to scale operations cost-effectively. Rather than investing in a full-time, in-house team, agencies can use white label WordPress development to manage multiple projects without incurring high costs. This flexibility is invaluable for agencies that experience fluctuations in demand, as they can scale services up or down based on client needs.
Moreover, with white label solutions, there’s no need for extensive training or onboarding. Agencies save both time and money while avoiding the expenses associated with new hires, software licenses, and technical infrastructure. The result is a more flexible, scalable business model that accommodates growth without a corresponding increase in overhead.
5. Enhanced Brand Reputation and Client Satisfaction
Partnering with a reputable white label WordPress agency enables agencies to deliver polished, professional websites under their brand name. With high-quality deliverables that exceed client expectations, agencies can strengthen their reputation and build a loyal client base. Clients often appreciate having a one-stop solution where all their digital needs are met, and white label WordPress solutions allow agencies to fulfill that role seamlessly.
By offering a complete package—branding, strategy, content, and now WordPress development—agencies position themselves as comprehensive digital solution providers, making it more likely that clients will return for future projects or refer the agency to others. Building a reputation for reliability and quality helps agencies stand out in a competitive market, and white label services play a crucial role in that differentiation.
Unlock Your Agency's Potential with White Label WordPress Development
As agencies look for ways to increase efficiency and deliver top-notch services, white label WordPress development has emerged as a game-changer. By enabling agencies to focus on their strengths, speed up project timelines, access expert development talent, reduce costs, and build brand reputation, white label solutions empower agencies to thrive and grow.

"The Future of Gaming: Real Money Game Development Strategies"
The gaming industry has always been at the forefront of innovation, constantly evolving to meet the demands of an ever-growing audience. One of the most significant developments in recent years is the rise of real money game development. As technology advances and player expectations shift, the future of gaming is increasingly tied to real money gaming experiences. Here, we explore key strategies that developers can use to succeed in this lucrative and dynamic sector.
1. Understanding the Legal Landscape
One of the foremost considerations in real money game development is navigating the complex legal environment. Regulations vary widely by region, and developers must ensure compliance with all applicable laws to avoid legal pitfalls. Engaging legal experts who specialize in gaming law can provide crucial guidance, helping to secure the necessary licenses and ensuring that games operate within legal frameworks. Understanding and adhering to regulations builds trust with players and stakeholders, which is essential for long-term success.
2. Prioritizing Security and Fair Play
Security is paramount in real money gaming. Players need to trust that their financial information is safe and that games are fair. Implementing robust encryption methods, secure payment gateways, and transparent random number generation (RNG) algorithms are critical steps. Additionally, regular audits by independent third parties can bolster credibility, ensuring players that the games are both secure and fair.
3. Enhancing User Experience
The success of real money games hinges on providing an engaging and seamless user experience. This involves intuitive user interfaces, responsive customer support, and exciting gameplay mechanics. Developers should focus on creating games that are not only fun but also easy to navigate, with clear instructions and a smooth onboarding process. Personalization features, such as tailored game recommendations and rewards, can also enhance player retention and satisfaction.
4. Leveraging Technology and Innovation
Incorporating cutting-edge technology is a key strategy in real money game development. Virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and blockchain are transforming how games are played and monetized. VR and AR offer immersive experiences that can attract a wider audience, while blockchain ensures transparency and security in transactions. Developers who embrace these technologies can differentiate their games in a competitive market.
5. Implementing Effective Marketing and Retention Strategies
Finally, a robust marketing strategy is essential for attracting and retaining players. Utilizing data analytics can help developers understand player behavior and preferences, enabling targeted marketing campaigns. Social media engagement, loyalty programs, and regular updates with new content keep players invested in the game. Building a community around the game through forums and social media can also foster player loyalty and drive word-of-mouth growth.

Before diving into growth strategies, it's crucial to grasp the distinct characteristics of B2B transactions. Unlike Business-to-Consumer (B2C) models, B2B interactions involve selling products or services from one business to another. These transactions often entail longer sales cycles, higher purchase volumes, and complex decision-making processes involving multiple stakeholders.
1. Define Your Ideal Customer Profile (ICP)
The foundation of B2B growth lies in identifying and targeting the right customers. Start by creating an Ideal Customer Profile (ICP) that outlines the characteristics of your most valuable clients. Consider factors such as industry, company size, revenue, and pain points. By honing in on your ICP, you can tailor your marketing and sales efforts towards high-potential prospects, maximizing your ROI.
2. Leverage Content Marketing
In the digital age, content is king, and B2B businesses can harness its power to attract and engage potential clients. Develop a robust content marketing strategy that provides valuable insights, addresses common pain points, and showcases your expertise in the industry. Whether through blog posts, whitepapers, case studies, or webinars, compelling content can position your brand as a thought leader and drive inbound leads.
3. Cultivate Strategic Partnerships
Collaboration is key to B2B success. Identify complementary businesses within your ecosystem and explore opportunities for strategic partnerships. By aligning with companies that share your target audience or offer complementary products/services, you can expand your reach and tap into new markets. Strategic alliances can also provide access to valuable resources, expertise, and distribution channels, accelerating your growth trajectory.
4. Prioritize Customer Success
In the B2B world, customer retention is as important as acquisition. Prioritize customer success by delivering exceptional experiences throughout the entire lifecycle, from onboarding to ongoing support. Invest in robust customer relationship management (CRM) systems to track interactions, gather feedback, and anticipate needs. By exceeding expectations and fostering long-term relationships, you can turn satisfied clients into loyal advocates who drive referrals and repeat business.
5. Embrace Technology and Automation
Embracing technology is paramount for B2B businesses looking to scale efficiently. Leverage automation tools for repetitive tasks, such as email marketing, lead nurturing, and data analysis. Implement Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software to centralize customer data and streamline communication across teams. Explore emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and predictive analytics to gain insights, optimize processes, and stay ahead of the competition.
6. Focus on Scalable Revenue Streams
As you scale your B2B business, focus on building scalable revenue streams that can support long-term growth. Diversify your product/service offerings to appeal to a broader audience or explore new market segments. Consider subscription-based models, licensing agreements, or tiered pricing structures that generate recurring revenue and foster predictability. Continuously monitor and optimize your revenue streams to ensure sustainability and profitability.
7. Adapt and Iterate
In the dynamic world of B2B, adaptability is essential. Stay agile and responsive to changing market conditions, customer preferences, and technological advancements. Continuously gather feedback, analyze performance metrics, and iterate on your strategies accordingly. Embrace a culture of experimentation and innovation, empowering your team to test new ideas and pivot quickly based on insights gleaned from data.

TopSpin 2K25 Review - A Strong Return - Game Informer
New Post has been published on https://thedigitalinsider.com/topspin-2k25-review-a-strong-return-game-informer/
TopSpin 2K25 Review - A Strong Return - Game Informer
In the heyday of the tennis-sim video game genre, Top Spin and Virtua Tennis were the best players in the crowded space. However, in the time since the genre’s boom settled, the offerings have fallen off considerably, with both franchises going more than a decade without a new release. TopSpin 2K25 signals the reemergence of the critically acclaimed series, and though it’s been a while since it stepped on the court, it’s evident the franchise hasn’t lost its stroke.
TopSpin 2K25 faithfully recreates the high-speed chess game of real-world tennis. Positioning, spin, timing, and angles are critical to your success. For those unfamiliar with those fundamental tennis tenets, 2K25 does a superb job of onboarding players with TopSpin Academy, which covers everything from where you should stand to how to play different styles. Even as someone who played years of tennis in both real life and video games, I enjoyed going through the more advanced lessons to refamiliarize myself with the various strategies at play.
Once on the court, you learn how crucial those tactics are. The margin of error is extremely thin, as the difference between a winner down the baseline and a shot into the net is often a split-second on the new timing meter. This meter ensures you release the stroke button timed with when the ball is in the ideal striking position relative to your player. Mastering this is pivotal, as it not only improves your shot accuracy but also your power.
[embedded content]
TopSpin 2K25 is at its best when you’re in sustained rallies against an evenly-matched opponent. Getting off a strong serve to immediately puts your opponent on the defensive, then trying to capitalize on their poor positioning as they struggle to claw back into the point effectively captures the thrill of the real-world game. I also love how distinct each play style feels in action; an offensive baseline player like Serena Williams presents different challenges than a serve-and-volleyer like John McEnroe.
You can hone your skills in one-off exhibition matches, but I spent most of my time in TopSpin 2K25 in MyCareer. Here, you create your player, with whom you’ll train and climb the ranks. As you complete challenges and win matches, you raise your status, which opens new features like upgradeable coaches, equippable skills, and purchasable homes to alleviate the stamina drain from travel. Managing your stamina by sometimes resting is essential to sustain high-level play; pushing yourself too hard can even cause your player to suffer injuries that sideline you for months.
I loved most of my time in MyCareer, but some design decisions ruined the immersion. For example, I ignored portions of the career goals necessary to rank up my player for hours, so while I was in the top 10 global rankings, I was unable to participate in a Grand Slam because I was still at a lower status than my ranking would typically confer. And since repetition is the path to mastery, it’s counterintuitive that repeated training minigames award fewer benefits, particularly since the mode as a whole is a repetitive loop of training, special events, and tournaments. Additionally, MyCareer shines a light on the shallow pool of licensed players on offer. Most of my matches were against created characters, even hours deep. 2K has promised free licensed pros in the post-launch phase, but for now, the game is missing multiple top players.
I’m pleasantly surprised by how unintrusive the use of VC is. In the NBA 2K series, VC, which can be earned slowly or bought using real money, is used to directly improve your player. In TopSpin 2K25, it’s used primarily for side upgrades, like leveling up your coach, relocating your home, earning XP boosts, resetting your attribute distribution, or purchasing cosmetics. Though I’m still not a fan of microtransactions affecting a single-player mode – particularly since it’s almost certainly why you need to be online to play MyCareer – it’s much more palatable than its NBA contemporary.
If you’d rather play against real opponents, you can show off your skills (and your created character) in multiple online modes. World Tour pits your created player against others across the globe in various tournaments and leaderboard challenges, while 2K Tour leverages the roster of licensed players with daily challenges to take on. Outside of minor connection hiccups, I had an enjoyable time tackling the challenges presented by other players online. However, World Tour’s structure means that despite the game’s best efforts, mismatches occur; it’s no fun to play against a created character multiple levels higher than you. Thankfully, these mismatches were the outlier rather than the exception in my experience.
TopSpin 2K25 aptly brings the beloved franchise back to center court, showing that not only does the series still have legs, but so does the sim-tennis genre as a whole. Though its modes are somewhat repetitive and it’s missing several high-profile pros at launch, TopSpin 2K25 serves up a compelling package for tennis fans.

F1TV Pro VPN compatibility
Formula 1 fans worldwide eagerly anticipate each race season, with F1TV Pro serving as the ultimate gateway to immerse themselves in the adrenaline-pumping action. However, for some enthusiasts residing in regions with geo-restrictions, accessing F1TV Pro can pose challenges. This is where VPN (Virtual Private Network) compatibility becomes paramount.
F1TV Pro offers a comprehensive streaming experience, delivering live races, exclusive content, onboard camera feeds, and more. But what if you're traveling abroad or live in a country where F1TV Pro isn't available due to licensing restrictions? This is where VPNs come into play.
VPN services allow users to bypass geo-blocks by masking their IP address and connecting to servers in countries where F1TV Pro is accessible. By doing so, fans can enjoy uninterrupted streaming of their favorite races, regardless of their location.
When considering VPN compatibility with F1TV Pro, it's essential to choose a reliable provider that offers fast connection speeds, robust security features, and servers in countries where F1TV Pro is supported. Additionally, ensuring compatibility across various devices, including smartphones, tablets, laptops, and smart TVs, enhances the viewing experience.
However, it's crucial to note that while VPNs can enable access to F1TV Pro from restricted regions, users must adhere to the platform's terms of service and licensing agreements. Additionally, the use of VPNs may impact streaming quality due to network latency and server distance.
In conclusion, VPN compatibility is a valuable tool for Formula 1 fans looking to access F1TV Pro from anywhere in the world. By selecting a reputable VPN provider and adhering to legal guidelines, fans can enjoy the thrill of every race, regardless of geographical barriers.
Using VPN with F1TV Pro
Using a VPN with F1TV Pro can enhance your streaming experience and provide numerous benefits. F1TV Pro offers exclusive access to live Formula 1 races, onboard cameras, team radios, and more. However, due to geo-restrictions, content availability may vary from one country to another. By using a VPN (Virtual Private Network) with F1TV Pro, you can bypass these restrictions and unlock the full potential of the streaming service.
One of the primary advantages of using a VPN with F1TV Pro is accessing content from anywhere in the world. With a VPN, you can connect to servers in different countries, allowing you to watch races and other F1 content that may not be available in your region. This is particularly useful for fans who want to follow their favorite drivers and teams throughout the season without missing any action.
Additionally, using a VPN can help secure your online privacy and data while streaming F1 content. VPNs encrypt your internet connection, making it more difficult for third parties to monitor your online activities. This is crucial when accessing streaming services, especially if you are using public Wi-Fi networks.
Furthermore, a VPN can improve your streaming quality by reducing buffering and lagging issues. By connecting to a VPN server closer to the F1TV Pro server, you can potentially enhance your connection speed and overall viewing experience.
In conclusion, using a VPN with F1TV Pro can provide you with greater flexibility, online security, and potentially better streaming performance. Whether you are a casual fan or a die-hard enthusiast, incorporating a VPN into your F1 streaming setup can take your viewing experience to the next level.
F1TV Pro functionality with VPN
F1TV Pro is a must-have subscription service for Formula 1 fans, offering live race streams, exclusive content, onboard cameras, and much more. However, the service may not be available in all countries due to broadcast restrictions. This is where a VPN (Virtual Private Network) comes in handy for fans looking to access F1TV Pro from anywhere in the world.
With a VPN, users can bypass geo-restrictions by connecting to servers in countries where F1TV Pro is available. This allows fans to enjoy all the features and benefits of the service as if they were in that particular country. Additionally, using a VPN adds an extra layer of security and privacy by encrypting your internet connection, keeping your online activities safe from prying eyes.
When utilizing F1TV Pro with a VPN, it is important to choose a reliable VPN provider with servers in the desired location for smooth streaming and minimal lag. By connecting to a server close to the F1TV Pro servers, users can experience high-quality video streams with minimal buffering.
It's worth noting that while using a VPN to access F1TV Pro from a different country can provide an enhanced viewing experience, it's important to respect the terms of service and licensing agreements of the platform. Additionally, speeds and performance may vary depending on the VPN provider, so users should choose wisely to ensure a seamless streaming experience.
In conclusion, combining F1TV Pro with a VPN opens up a world of possibilities for Formula 1 enthusiasts, allowing them to access exclusive content and live races from anywhere in the world while ensuring privacy and security.

A VPN works by rerouting your internet connection through a secure server in a location of your choice, effectively masking your actual IP address. By connecting to a server in a country where F1TV Pro is available, you can bypass geo-blocks and access the F1 races seamlessly.

Ensuring F1TV Pro works with VPN
Title: Ensuring F1TV Pro Works Seamlessly with VPN
As Formula 1 enthusiasts eagerly anticipate each thrilling race, many turn to F1TV Pro for live streams and exclusive content. However, for fans located in regions with geo-restrictions, accessing F1TV Pro can pose a challenge. Fortunately, using a Virtual Private Network (VPN) can bypass these limitations, granting access to F1TV Pro from anywhere in the world.
Here's how to ensure F1TV Pro operates smoothly with your VPN:
Selecting the Right VPN: Not all VPNs are created equal. Opt for a reputable VPN service with servers strategically located around the globe. This ensures optimal speed and performance when streaming F1 races.
Choosing a Server Location: Once you've subscribed to a VPN service, select a server location where F1TV Pro is accessible. Choose a server in a country where F1TV Pro is available without restrictions to enjoy uninterrupted streaming.
Testing Your Connection: Before race day, conduct a speed test while connected to your chosen VPN server. Ensure that your internet connection is stable and capable of streaming high-definition content without buffering or lag.
Clearing Cache and Cookies: Occasionally, F1TV Pro may detect VPN usage and restrict access. To circumvent this, clear your browser's cache and cookies before accessing the F1TV Pro website. This helps prevent any conflicts or detection issues.
Contacting VPN Support: If you encounter any difficulties while using F1TV Pro with your VPN, reach out to your VPN provider's customer support. They can offer guidance and troubleshoot any issues you may experience.
By following these steps, you can enjoy the excitement of Formula 1 racing with F1TV Pro, regardless of your location. With a reliable VPN and a seamless connection, you'll never miss a moment of the action on the track.

Tech News Roundup: Goodbye Google One VPN, Hello Leica Phone, and More Pixel Leaks!
It's Friday again, which means that we're ending the week with a quick look at some of the biggest tech news over the past few days. The consumer electronics industry is never not busy, and as such there have been some rather interesting developments, both in terms of software and hardware products. With that said, let's take a look at some of the biggest news in tech this week. Bye-bye, Google One VPN One of the biggest advantages of subscribing to the Google One service is that you got access to VPN services, which does come in handy for users who want to access content and such that they wouldn't normally be able to due to geographic or licensing restrictions. With that said though, it's reported that Google has informed subscribers that it will be discontinuing the included VPN service with Google One as not many people were using it. However, Pixel 7 and 8 owners will still be able to use the built-in VPN on their handsets, which will supposedly last for five years. Meet the Leica Leitz 3 While Leica is more known for its line of consumer and pro-grade cameras, the manufacturer also makes a region-exclusive line of smartphones. In fact, it's on its third one now, aptly named the Leica Leitz 3. Exclusive for buyers in Japan, the phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, and includes other specs such as a single 47.2MP 1-inch CMOS camera, in addition to a 12.6MP selfie camera, a 5000 mAh battery, and Android 14 onboard. Magic Editor Arrives for more Phones Despite being described as an exclusive feature for Google's Pixel 8 and 8 Pro handsets, the company has announced that it will be bringing its Magic Editor AI tool to more users, and will be accessible via the Google Photos app. There's a catch though - the editor is free to use unlimitedly for Pixel device users, while other smartphone owners will only be limited to 10 edit saves per month, unless they pay for a Google One subscription. More Pixel 8a Leaks Emerge As has become the standard tradition for nearly all Google smartphones, the company's upcoming Pixel 8a handset has once again been leaked online, this time with a fresh coat of paint. Several product renders show the Pixel 8a in several different colour variants, which include Mint, Bay, Porcelain, and Obsidian. It's also rumoured that the 8a will feature a matte rear panel, somewhat similar to the Pixel 4a series from a few years back. You can view the full images here. Messenger now Supports HD Photos One of the biggest complaints about Facebook Messenger is that photo files sent via the app tend to look unflattering due to aggressive file compression, although this no longer seems to be the case thanks to a new update. Meta recently announced that users can now send HD photos via a simple toggle within the app; users will also be able to send files larger than 100 MB. Read the full article
