Creating a Captivating Blog Website: A Step-by-Step Guide
In the digital age, a blog website serves as a powerful platform for sharing your thoughts, expertise, and creativity with the world. Whether you're a seasoned writer, an aspiring influencer, or someone with a passion for a specific niche, creating your own blog website can be an exciting endeavor. This step-by-step guide will walk you through the process of crafting a captivating blog website that not only engages your audience but also reflects your unique style.
Step 1: Define Your Niche and Audience
Before you start building your blog website, it's crucial to identify your niche and target audience. What topics or subjects will your blog cover? Defining your niche helps you create focused, relevant content that resonates with your readers. Understanding your audience's demographics, preferences, and needs will enable you to tailor your content to their interests.
Step 2: Choose a Domain Name and Hosting
Your domain name is your blog's online identity, so choose a name that represents your niche and is easy to remember. Look for a domain name that's unique, concise, and aligned with your brand. Once you've decided on a domain name, you'll need to choose a web hosting service. Popular hosting providers include Bluehost, Site Ground, and HostGator. Select a plan that suits your needs and offers reliable performance.
Step 3: Select a Content Management System (CMS)
A content management system (CMS) is a platform that allows you to create, manage, and publish content on your blog. WordPress is one of the most popular CMS options due to its user-friendly interface and extensive customization possibilities. Install WordPress or Blogger on your chosen hosting platform and you're ready to start building your blog.
Step 4: Choose a Theme
The visual design of your blog plays a significant role in attracting and retaining visitors. Choose a theme that aligns with your content and provides a pleasing user experience. WordPress offers a wide range of free and premium themes that can be customized to match your brand colors, fonts, and overall aesthetic.
Step 5: Customize Your Website
Personalize your blog website by customizing the chosen theme. Add a logo, customize the header and footer, and arrange widgets that display recent posts, categories, and social media links. Ensure that your website's layout is clean, intuitive, and mobile-responsive, as an increasing number of users access websites from their smartphones and tablets.
 Step 6: Install Essential Plugins
Plugins are extensions that enhance the functionality of your blog. Some essential plugins include:
**Yoast SEO:** Helps optimize your content for search engines.
**Akismet:** Protects your blog from spam comments.
-**Social Media Sharing:** Allows readers to easily share your content on social platforms.
**Contact Form:** Provides a way for readers to get in touch with you.
**Google Analytics:** Tracks your website's performance and visitor statistics.
 Step 7: Create Compelling Content
Content is the heart of your blog. Craft well-researched, engaging, and valuable posts that cater to your audience's interests. Use a mix of text, images, and possibly videos to convey your message effectively. Maintain a consistent posting schedule to keep your readers engaged and coming back for more.
 Step 8: Implement SEO Strategies
Search engine optimization (SEO) is essential for driving organic traffic to your blog. Incorporate relevant keywords naturally into your content, optimize your images with descriptive alt text, and create internal and external links. This helps search engines understand your content and rank it higher in search results.
Step 9: Engage with Your Audience
Interact with your readers by responding to comments, encouraging discussions, and addressing their questions or feedback. Consider creating a mailing list to notify subscribers about new posts, updates, or exclusive content.
Step 10: Promote Your Blog
Promotion is key to expanding your blog's reach. Share your content on social media platforms, collaborate with other bloggers or influencers in your niche, and participate in online communities relevant to your topic. The more you promote your blog, the wider your audience will grow.
Step 11: Monitor and Analyze
Regularly review your website's performance using tools like Google Analytics. Monitor metrics such as page views, bounce rates, and engagement to understand what's working and what needs improvement. Use this data to refine your content strategy and make informed decisions.
Step 12: Stay Consistent and Evolve
Consistency is key to building a successful blog. Keep publishing high-quality content, adapting to industry trends, and evolving your strategies based on audience feedback and changing algorithms. As your blog grows, you might consider monetization options such as affiliate marketing, sponsored posts, or selling digital products.
Creating a captivating blog website takes time, dedication, and continuous learning. By following these steps and staying true to your passion, you can create a blog that not only resonates with your target audience but also becomes a valuable resource in your chosen niche.

Tumblr’s Core Product Strategy
Here at Tumblr, we’ve been working hard on reorganizing how we work in a bid to gain more users. A larger user base means a more sustainable company, and means we get to stick around and do this thing with you all a bit longer. What follows is the strategy we're using to accomplish the goal of user growth. The @labs group has published a bit already, but this is bigger. We’re publishing it publicly for the first time, in an effort to work more transparently with all of you in the Tumblr community. This strategy provides guidance amid limited resources, allowing our teams to focus on specific key areas to ensure Tumblr’s future.
The Diagnosis
In order for Tumblr to grow, we need to fix the core experience that makes Tumblr a useful place for users. The underlying problem is that Tumblr is not easy to use. Historically, we have expected users to curate their feeds and lean into curating their experience. But this expectation introduces friction to the user experience and only serves a small portion of our audience.
Tumblr’s competitive advantage lies in its unique content and vibrant communities. As the forerunner of internet culture, Tumblr encompasses a wide range of interests, such as entertainment, art, gaming, fandom, fashion, and music. People come to Tumblr to immerse themselves in this culture, making it essential for us to ensure a seamless connection between people and content.
To guarantee Tumblr’s continued success, we’ve got to prioritize fostering that seamless connection between people and content. This involves attracting and retaining new users and creators, nurturing their growth, and encouraging frequent engagement with the platform.
Our Guiding Principles
To enhance Tumblr’s usability, we must address these core guiding principles.
Expand the ways new users can discover and sign up for Tumblr.
Provide high-quality content with every app launch.
Facilitate easier user participation in conversations.
Retain and grow our creator base.
Create patterns that encourage users to keep returning to Tumblr.
Improve the platform’s performance, stability, and quality.
Below is a deep dive into each of these principles.
Principle 1: Expand the ways new users can discover and sign up for Tumblr.
Tumblr has a “top of the funnel” issue in converting non-users into engaged logged-in users. We also have not invested in industry standard SEO practices to ensure a robust top of the funnel. The referral traffic that we do get from external sources is dispersed across different pages with inconsistent user experiences, which results in a missed opportunity to convert these users into regular Tumblr users. For example, users from search engines often land on pages within the blog network and blog view—where there isn’t much of a reason to sign up.
We need to experiment with logged-out tumblr.com to ensure we are capturing the highest potential conversion rate for visitors into sign-ups and log-ins. We might want to explore showing the potential future user the full breadth of content that Tumblr has to offer on our logged-out pages. We want people to be able to easily understand the potential behind Tumblr without having to navigate multiple tabs and pages to figure it out. Our current logged-out explore page does very little to help users understand “what is Tumblr.” which is a missed opportunity to get people excited about joining the site.
Actions & Next Steps
Improving Tumblr’s search engine optimization (SEO) practices to be in line with industry standards.
Experiment with logged out tumblr.com to achieve the highest conversion rate for sign-ups and log-ins, explore ways for visitors to “get” Tumblr and entice them to sign up.
Principle 2: Provide high-quality content with every app launch.
We need to ensure the highest quality user experience by presenting fresh and relevant content tailored to the user’s diverse interests during each session. If the user has a bad content experience, the fault lies with the product.
The default position should always be that the user does not know how to navigate the application. Additionally, we need to ensure that when people search for content related to their interests, it is easily accessible without any confusing limitations or unexpected roadblocks in their journey.
Being a 15-year-old brand is tough because the brand carries the baggage of a person’s preconceived impressions of Tumblr. On average, a user only sees 25 posts per session, so the first 25 posts have to convey the value of Tumblr: it is a vibrant community with lots of untapped potential. We never want to leave the user believing that Tumblr is a place that is stale and not relevant.
Actions & Next Steps
Deliver great content each time the app is opened.
Make it easier for users to understand where the vibrant communities on Tumblr are.
Improve our algorithmic ranking capabilities across all feeds.
Principle 3: Facilitate easier user participation in conversations.
Part of Tumblr’s charm lies in its capacity to showcase the evolution of conversations and the clever remarks found within reblog chains and replies. Engaging in these discussions should be enjoyable and effortless.
Unfortunately, the current way that conversations work on Tumblr across replies and reblogs is confusing for new users. The limitations around engaging with individual reblogs, replies only applying to the original post, and the inability to easily follow threaded conversations make it difficult for users to join the conversation.
Actions & Next Steps
Address the confusion within replies and reblogs.
Improve the conversational posting features around replies and reblogs.
Allow engagements on individual replies and reblogs.
Make it easier for users to follow the various conversation paths within a reblog thread.
Remove clutter in the conversation by collapsing reblog threads.
Explore the feasibility of removing duplicate reblogs within a user’s Following feed.
Principle 4: Retain and grow our creator base.
Creators are essential to the Tumblr community. However, we haven’t always had a consistent and coordinated effort around retaining, nurturing, and growing our creator base.
Being a new creator on Tumblr can be intimidating, with a high likelihood of leaving or disappointment upon sharing creations without receiving engagement or feedback. We need to ensure that we have the expected creator tools and foster the rewarding feedback loops that keep creators around and enable them to thrive.
The lack of feedback stems from the outdated decision to only show content from followed blogs on the main dashboard feed (“Following”), perpetuating a cycle where popular blogs continue to gain more visibility at the expense of helping new creators. To address this, we need to prioritize supporting and nurturing the growth of new creators on the platform.
It is also imperative that creators, like everyone on Tumblr, feel safe and in control of their experience. Whether it be an ask from the community or engagement on a post, being successful on Tumblr should never feel like a punishing experience.
Actions & Next Steps
Get creators’ new content in front of people who are interested in it.
Improve the feedback loop for creators, incentivizing them to continue posting.
Build mechanisms to protect creators from being spammed by notifications when they go viral.
Expand ways to co-create content, such as by adding the capability to embed Tumblr links in posts.
Principle 5: Create patterns that encourage users to keep returning to Tumblr.
Push notifications and emails are essential tools to increase user engagement, improve user retention, and facilitate content discovery. Our strategy of reaching out to you, the user, should be well-coordinated across product, commercial, and marketing teams.
Our messaging strategy needs to be personalized and adapt to a user’s shifting interests. Our messages should keep users in the know on the latest activity in their community, as well as keeping Tumblr top of mind as the place to go for witty takes and remixes of the latest shows and real-life events.
Most importantly, our messages should be thoughtful and should never come across as spammy.
Actions & Next Steps
Conduct an audit of our messaging strategy.
Address the issue of notifications getting too noisy; throttle, collapse or mute notifications where necessary.
Identify opportunities for personalization within our email messages.
Test what the right daily push notification limit is.
Send emails when a user has push notifications switched off.
Principle 6: Performance, stability and quality.
The stability and performance of our mobile apps have declined. There is a large backlog of production issues, with more bugs created than resolved over the last 300 days. If this continues, roughly one new unresolved production issue will be created every two days. Apps and backend systems that work well and don't crash are the foundation of a great Tumblr experience. Improving performance, stability, and quality will help us achieve sustainable operations for Tumblr.
Improve performance and stability: deliver crash-free, responsive, and fast-loading apps on Android, iOS, and web.
Improve quality: deliver the highest quality Tumblr experience to our users.
Move faster: provide APIs and services to unblock core product initiatives and launch new features coming out of Labs.
Conclusion
Our mission has always been to empower the world’s creators. We are wholly committed to ensuring Tumblr evolves in a way that supports our current users while improving areas that attract new creators, artists, and users. You deserve a digital home that works for you. You deserve the best tools and features to connect with your communities on a platform that prioritizes the easy discoverability of high-quality content. This is an invigorating time for Tumblr, and we couldn’t be more excited about our current strategy.

Free Use Jail Cell, Part 1
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6 | Part 7
Police Officer Skz ot8 x female reader
Premise: you're arrested and held for 24 hours by 8 police officers at the local police station / reader has her fantasy play out.
Word Count: 3k (part 1)
Chapter Summary: Officer Seo Changbin arrests you and has some one on one time with you before taking you to the station. You meet the other officers. (This chapter is Changbin focused, but a little bit happens at the end with the other officers.)
a/n: This fic will be in multiple parts because I get too impatient not to share what I’ve written so far. There will be two, possibly three installments turns out it will be more like 6 (tag list is open).
I refer to the officers as “Officer Hyunjin”, “Officer Minho” etc just to make it quick to identify the characters.
The whole premise is planned and explained in the fic. The story is purely fantasy, but please be mindful of content warnings, as it has potentially triggering content. I want you to be safe here on my blog.
Tumblr media
CW: planned fantasy role play, police arrest, nudity, unprotected sex in a semi public space, pain kink, roleplay pain, anal play, blow jobs, cum eating, name calling (both praising and degrading), reference to sexual acts, imprisonment, restraints (handcuffing).
🚨🚨🚨🚨
The lights of the police patrol car reflect in your rear view mirror, signaling for you to stop your car.
“Dammit.” You sigh as you pull your car over to the side of the road.
You watch in your side mirror as a police officer emerges from his patrol car, and your heart rate increases when you see the well built figure approach your window.
“Everything okay, Officer?” You say innocently.
“I’m gonna need you step out of the vehicle, Ma'am.” He says sternly.
“But I wasn’t speeding.” You protest as he opens your car door and pulls you out.
“Ouch! You’re hurting me!” You writhe against him, but he’s too strong.
“No. But you’ve just resisted arrest, so you’re in big trouble little bunny.” He slams you front first against the side of your car and proceeds to handcuff your hands around your back.
“You’ve got the wrong woman, Dude!” You cry.
“That’s Officer Seo Changbin, to you.” He tears you away from your car abruptly and tugs you towards his police car. “In.” He throws you in the back of the car like a rag doll.
“But my car!” You wail, as he slams the door and hops into the driver’s seat.
“Shh. It’ll be impounded. Now not another word.”
“But you haven’t read me my rights! You can’t do this!”
But Officer SEO Changbin ignores you as he drives away.
After half an hour of you demanding he explain what you’ve actually been arrested for, and half an hour of being met with silence, Officer Changbin pulls off the main road and parks his car in a deserted space under a bridge.
Alarm bells go off in your head as you look around. The area is absolutely deserted. You frantically try to formulate a plan to escape. But even if you did escape, you’re fucking handcuffed.
The Officer opens the back door and slips in beside you, holding a tablet and stylus. “Y/n. Twenty five. Female. Submitted a ‘free use jail fantasy’. That is you, is it not?” He quirks an eyebrow at you.
You stare at the man, but remain silent. Isn’t that one of your rights?
Changbin sighs. “This is your contract. I need you to understand the terms of our engagement.”
He holds the tablet in front of you so you can read exactly what you signed yourself up for.
I, y/n, agree to being held prisoner in a police station setting, where eight men have the right to use my body how they see fit. This includes: degradation, humiliation, spanking, oral sex, vaginal penetration, anal penetration (includes use of fingers), double penetration, rough sex, use of props and restraints.
Please read below for further details.
You scroll through the rest of the pages. Details of the acts that may take place, photos of the men and their role, special interests and skills. They are fucking handsome as hell too.
What the fuck have you signed up for? It sounded good in your head. It sounded good when you applied. But now it’s real.. You gulp and look at the Officer.
“Sign here.” He points to the space at the bottom of page 12.
“Umm…”  you nudge your head towards your restraints.
“Oh yes of course.” Changbin releases your cuffs, opting to secure them in front of you instead. You take the stylus and sign on the dotted line.
You only live once right?
“Great. So as of now you belong to us. Well, for the next 24 hours.” He says matter of fact.
You suck on your lower lip. “So, like right now you could get me to do…things?” You say in a small voice.
“Yes, that’s right. I could instruct you to do things. Or, I could just do things to you. Free use, remember?” He takes the tablet from you and places it next to him in the seat. Your eyes fall on his thick bicep and you feel an ache between your legs. He sits back, slouching against the backseat, and his eyes drop to your bare leg.
A heavy silence fills the car.
Changbin reaches out to squeeze your thigh, just above your knee and you hold your breath as his hand slowly slides up under your skirt.
“Show me your panties.” He whispers, lifting your skirt up. You open your legs for him.
His plush, pink lips part slightly.  “Take them off.” He instructs.
You shimmy your panties off and wait for your next instructions.
“Unbuckle my belt.”
The chain of the handcuffs rattling, and his heavy breaths are the only sounds as you bring your hands to his belt. “Uunzip my pants and take out my cock.”
Your heart begins to race, and your mouth becomes dry, as anticipation and fear bubble in your stomach. Your fingers shake as you unzip his fly and pull his length through the opening of his boxers. Fuck, he is so thick. Your eyes flick up to his.
“Suck it.” He says, staring at you.
You take a deep breath and bring your mouth closer to the fat tip, wondering you you’d even be able to stretch your mouth around it. You kiss the slit. Changbin hisses. “Don’t tease.” He says with a gravely tone.
You swirl your tongue around the tip, then along the shaft, moistening it up. But Changbin is impatient, and he presses his hand on the back of your head, indicating that he’s had enough of your chaste ministrations.
You stretch your mouth around his girth and sink your head down over him. God, he’s not going to fit. You’re going to choke.
“C’mon, deeper.” He pushes your head, coaxing you to take more of him. Your eyes immediately water, but you do your very best to suck him enthusiastically.
You feel his hand slide down your back and over your ass. You whimper when he lifts your skirt up and he spanks you on the ass. “Deeper.” He moans.
You lift off and take a big breath before taking him back in your mouth, forcing yourself to take even more of him. His fingers finds your pussy, sliding them  through your wet folds. He gathers some of your arousal and brings the pad of his finger to your asshole.
“Hmm… you feel like you’re gonna be so tight. The boys are going to have fun stretching out this little thing. You won’t be able to sit for a week.” He chuckles.
You moan at the thought, excited to be used.
Changbin’s finger breaches the tight ring of muscle as he presses inside. It’s just to the first knuckle but it’s making you hungry for more.
“That’s enough for now.” He decides, withdrawing his finger and pulling your mouth off his cock. You sit up whining at the loss. “Are we going to go to the police station now?” You inquire.
Changbin scoffs. “Greedy little thing. Can’t wait for what’s in store for you.” He strokes your tear stained cheek. “We’ll go soon. But not until you ride me. Climb on.” He nods towards his cock. “I want first feel of your pussy.”
You straddle Officer Changbin, wrapping your still cuffed hands around his neck, and he holds his cock steady for you as you lower yourself down on him. “Fuck!” You squeak as you feel the tip against your entrance. “You’re so big Officer. I’m not sure I can take you.”
You swallow, looking into his eyes. There’s lust there. You can see it. He looks like he could hurt you, but there’s a kindness in his expression too, and you wonder if the other men will be like him?
“If you can’t take my cock, how are you gonna take two at once?” He whispers. “Sit on it. I want to feel your walls wrapped around my dick.”
“What if I say no? What happens?” You challenge him.”
“‘No’s not your safe word.” He grips your hips and slowly lowers you down onto his length. “Just keep your eyes on me, sweet thing. Shhh. I know Binnie’s thick.”
You shake your head. “It’s too big.”
“It’s gonna feel good. I promise. Let me stretch your tight little walls.” He breathes against your cheek.
You feel yourself stretching for him, slowly relaxing to accommodate his size. Inch by inch you feel him fill you.
“You are tight aren’t you? Fuck, like a vice.” He closes his eyes and tries to steady his breath.
You push yourself down all the way and pause.
Changbin opens his eyes again and lifts your skirt so he can see where you’re impaled on him.
“See. Look at that.” He says in awe. Your eyes follow his as you lift up slightly and lower yourself again, watching him disappear inside you.
“Bounce on me. Show me what a good little girl you are, and I’ll put in a good word in my report.”
He digs his hands into your ass cheeks, spreading them and using his grip on them to bounce you.
“I need you to scream for me. No one’s gonna hear you, but I want you to scream your lungs out anyway.”
He grips you tighter, and as though you weigh nothing, he lifts you up and slams you down. You cry out. “Again!” He growls as he slides you up his cock, and drops you back down. “Scream.”
You cry out, screaming loudly.
“Hurts doesn’t it, bunny?” He uses his hips to fuck up into you ferociously.
“N-no…feels goo-”
“Say it hurts. Scream like it hurts.” He growls and throws  you off him and pushes your face into the car seat. He lifts your hips to meet his cock and thrusts into you forcefully. Every thrust is deep and hard. Your pussy feels stretched to its limits.
He’s relentless, pounding into you harder and harder. The sound of your bodies colliding filling the car. The windows are steamed up, and you're certain the car is rocking wildly.
“Stop… please… too hard…it hurts…” you scream. But you don’t use your safe word. It actually feels incredible.
“Is Binnie too much, hmm? Poor little cunt struggling to fit me?” He mocks you.
You scream louder. He picks up the pace.
“Fuck…I’m coming!!!” You let out the loudest scream your lungs can muster, as you clench your walls around Changbin’s cock.
“That’s it, so nice and loud for me.”  He helps you ride out your orgasm and then withdraws from your still quivering cunt.
“Good, compliant little bunny. Come, drink up.” He strokes your hair as he helps you turn around so you can wrap your lips around his cock again. He pumps the length a few times until you feel his hot, thick cum coat your tongue.
“Open. Show me.” The tilts your chin as you present to him your mouth full of semen. “Swallow it up for me.”
You keep your eyes locked on him as you swallow the thick, salty substance, and then open back up to show him.
“Good girl. We need to get you into your cell.” He smirks and gets back into the front of the car.
🚨🚨🚨🚨
It’s almost dark when you get to the police station and you’re feeling incredibly nervous about what lies ahead.
Changbin helps you get out of the vehicle, leaving your panties on the floor, and escorts you up the front steps of the building. It actually looks like a real police station too, and you wonder how on earth they managed to have access to this place.
The seven other men are waiting for you. They eagerly stand up from their desks as Changbin walks you past until you reach the cell at the far end of the room.
“In.” He grunts, removing your handcuffs and pushing you inside and slamming the door closed behind you. You quickly take in your surroundings. There’s absolutely nothing in your cell except a mattress with two folded blankets on top.
“So this is the sweet thing we have to break?” One of the men jeers.
“This will be fun.” Another adds.
You turn back towards the men, who are all lined up on the other side of the bars. They watch you. So many eyes. On you. Some look mean. Others look kind. You recognise each of them from the photos, and you know from your research you need to watch out for the ones named Seungmin and Minho.
“Y/n. Come meet the officers.” The Chef, Chan you believe his name is, says firmly.
You take a step forward.
“No.” He stops you. “First, strip.”
“Oh!” You squeak. You hesitate. Are you really ready for this? But there’s something thrilling about this situation, and you know, deep down, even though you’re nervous, scared even, you don’t want to stop. Your hands tremble as they grasp the hem of your top and you pull it over your head. Leaving your top half In merely a flimsy sheer bra.
“Fuck. She’s hot.” One of them men whistle under his breath.
“The skirt too..” Chan barks.
“B-but-“ you remember you’re not wearing underwear.
“Skirt. Off. I don’t like repeating myself.” Chan snaps.
You lower your eyes as you peel your skirt down and let drop it to the floor.
“No panties. What a slut.” Minho smirks.
You can feel all eyes on your bare pussy.
“Look at the officers before you y/n.”
You lift your head and look at the men.
“For the next twenty four hours these men own your body. They want your cunt? You let them have it. They want to fuck your ass? It’s theirs. They want to take you two at a time? Tie you up, use restraints? You do not resist. They feel they need to punish you? You take it willingly. They want to degrade you, humiliate you?”
Seungmin laughs at that.
“They can. If they want to treat you nice, be sweet, they’re allowed to do that too. But you don’t come without permission. They control your orgasms.”
Chan basically recites  your submission request back to you.
“Alright. Come forward to meet the officers who will be taking good care of you over the next twenty four hours.”
You take a step forward. “On your knees.” Chan corrects you.
You drop to your knees, the floor is cold and hard, and you crawl over to where the men wait.
The one named Minho comes forward and presents his erect cock to you, sliding it through the bars. “Come say hello, kitten.” He says coldly.
You look up at him as you wrap your mouth around him, and he immediately takes hold of the back of your head to keep it still while he fucks your mouth. You hear several belts being unbuckled around you.
So this is the introductions then?
“Changbin and I will leave you to it.” Chan informs the group and he and Changbin leave you with the remaining six officers.
From what you can tell from the way Minho holds your head and watches you with intense eyes, is that the man can read your limits. He pushes in just enough to make you gag, but not quite making you choke. His rhythm is smooth and consistent, and when he cums you know he’s holding back a pretty moan. He’s definitely a dom, but one that really understands a sub.
Felix, the pretty and gentle blond, is careful with your face, he doesn’t push too far, and he lets you use your hand on him. But there’s a glimmer in his eye that tells you he doesn’t mind the kinkier side of things, or that he might like seeing you in pain.
Hyunjin. He doesn’t even have to speak and he’s got you blushing. Just the way he’s looking at you, his tongue licking his pretty lips, has you dripping down your legs. The man is beautiful, sensual, and  the way he’s working with you as you work his cock, moving with your mouth and hand, makes you believe he finds sex to be about connection. You’re not entirely sure how that will play out.
Jeongin. Seems sweet and innocent, but his entire expression changes to demonic once his tip hits your throat. You’re not sure what he has in store for you, but you know it’s not going to sweet, and you find yourself imagining all sorts of scenarios with him.
Jisung is next. Confident, demanding with his cock. Mumbles “slut” a few times, and thrusts his hips erratically. He’s unpredictable, and you splutter when he pushes far too deep for you. A flicker of fear and concern crosses his features, and you get the urge to help him stay in the character he’s trying to portray. You moan enthusiastically, and he quickly recovers, fucking you without restraint.
Seungmin is last. He’s cruel with his words, and careless with his thrusts. He’s energy is cold, and you know that if you need to be punished, he’s the guy to give it to you. That is until he comes back with an oversized shirt and a tray of food, and asks you if you have any questions about the agreement.
🚨🚨🚨🚨
You sit alone in your cell and eat your dinner, wondering what the night will hold. You don’t have to wait long though, because Chan is walking towards your cell.
“Y/n. It’s time for your interrogation with Detective Minho and Officer Seungmin.”
Fuck.
↣↣ up next, interrogation time with 2min here

Gentle afternoon sun rays dance through the space of your living room, the soft beams bouncing off the four ivory walls that surround you to illuminate the room in a warm, inviting glow. You carefully turn a page of the book you're currently reading, enjoying the soft, distant sounds of birds chirping outside your window.
This was your favorite atmosphere. A welcoming, serene space, full of nothing but comfort that embraced you like a hug from a loved one. You took a moment to bask in the warmth of the sun, inhaling the sweet scent of your favorite candle burning on the coffee table in front of you.
You hear your front door carefully close in the distance, a smile settling onto your features as your eyes read over the words of your book. You can hear Changbin's approaching footsteps, and you know it won't be long before he steps into this peaceful space you've created, disrupting it only temporarily to check up on you.
Soon enough, you see Changbin's head peer around the corner of the archway into the living room. A close-mouthed smile pulls at his lips as he sees you curled up on the couch, exactly where he last saw you before he went to the gym around an hour ago. When you look up at him to meet his eyes, you notice the sparkle his eyes hold as he gazes at you. It's a sparkle of love and admiration, and it doesn't fade even as he moves to stand in the archway, slowly making his way over to you.
"Hi, baby." He quietly greets, watching you shove a bookmark into your book before setting it on the coffee table.
"Hi, Binnie." You greet just as quietly, meeting him halfway to embrace the buff man.
Your attraction to your boyfriend is no secret, your stolen glances and lingering stares often being a dead giveaway to anyone with the ability to see, even when you were almost certain you were being discreet.
No matter the location or who was around, your eyes always found Changbin.
As time goes by and the length of you and Changbin's relationship only grows longer, you care less for how transparent your love for him is, to Changbin himself, or anyone else who may witness it. It's something that makes love and warmth blossom in Changbin's chest, knowing that you'll never shy away from loving him.
"I missed you." He softly breathes out, feeling your arms circle around his shoulders.
You feel his arms rest against the surface of your back, pulling you against him as your fingertips come to draw small circles on his shoulder blades.
"I missed you, too." You chuckle lightly, moving your hands to grip at his biceps. "Even though you were only gone for a little over an hour."
"An hour is a long time, baby..." he trails off, looking off to the side as he sighs dramatically. "A very long time."
You let out a laugh at his words, rolling your eyes as he takes a step back.
"It was a good gym day, though." He simply states, waiting until you refocus your gaze on him to flex his arms.
The smile on your face slowly drops, a slightly dazed look taking its place as you let your eyes shamelessly rake along the expanse of Changbin's arms. Your eyes snap up to his, noticing the smirk on his lips as he watches you pull your bottom lip between your teeth.
You've always had somewhat of an infatuation with Changbin's arms, even prior to being in a relationship with him. You tried not to make it obvious back then, doing everything in your power to avert your gaze when he would answer the door of his apartment in a black tank top or one of his black t-shirts that fit him perfectly, but now that you're in a relationship, you do little to hide the infatuation.
You can't help the scenarios that play in your head, the curiosity of what it would feel like to have one of his strong arms wrap around your throat just enough to slightly constrict your airflow plaguing your mind every chance it gets.
You're brought out of your thoughts by the feeling of one of Changbin's hands gently grabbing yours. You watch his hand guide yours to his bicep, resting it right against the swell of the muscle for you to grab at.
"Go ahead, baby," his voice is barely above a whisper when he speaks, and you audibly gulp at the feeling of his warm skin beneath your fingertips. "I know you love my arms."
You grip at the muscle, bringing your other hand up to do the same as you knead the flesh in your palms. Changbin brings his other arm down to wrap around your waist, pulling you flush against his chest.
"I do, Bin." You whisper back, looking into his eyes as your hands continue their ministrations. "I really do."
"I always wonder what's going on inside that pretty head of yours when you zone out on me." Your eyes go wide at his words, your hands freezing in their place. He softly chuckles at your reaction, rubbing his hand along where it's placed on your lower back. "Is it a secret, baby?"
You look back into his eyes, not knowing exactly how to answer him.
"I don't know." You answer honestly, never having put a whole lot of thought into whether you would actually tell him about what you imagine or not.
"Well, if it is a secret, and you find yourself wanting to let me in, I'll be here. If not, it's okay." He softly smiles at you, the arm he was flexing lowering so he can hold both your hands in his larger one. "I'll be here either way."
You smile up at him, feeling safe in his embrace as your hands move to rest against his chest while his move down to your waist. You lean into him, pressing a kiss that he returns almost immediately to his lips.
You quickly deepen the kiss, the feeling of his broad, built chest beneath your palms, the scenarios still playing in your head, and his lips against yours being enough to send your mind into overdrive.
You feel Changbin use the grip he has on your waist to guide you both to your shared bedroom, never breaking the kiss as he lets you slide your hands beneath the fabric of his muscle tee. He kicks the door closed, briefly breaking the kiss to pull his tee over his head as you do the same, carelessly tossing both somewhere in the room.
The rest of you and Changbin's clothing quickly follow suit before you lay back on your bed, pulling Changbin down with you. He hovers above you, propping his weight up on his elbows as his forearms rest on either side of your head. His hard length rests against your bare core, and you let out a whine at the contact and lack of friction.
"Bin-" you choke out when you feel him guide his tip through your folds, collecting your arousal before resting his tip against your clit.
"Hm?" He softly hums, rubbing his tip along your clit to draw moans from your lips.
"P-Please-" you whimper out, hearing a moan slip past Changbin's lips before he presses his tip into your entrance.
He slowly pushes into you, relishing in the noise of pure relief you let out at the feeling of finally feeling him sink into you.
"There, baby." He breathes out, fighting to keep his voice steady when he feels your walls clench around him when he bottoms out. "Just what my girl needs."
The stretch has you keening as your eyes roll back, needing to feel him fuck you full. You buck your hips up against his and he chuckles lowly at your desperation, pulling his hips back just to snap them right back into yours.
Your hands fly up to his biceps when he finds a rhythm that has moans spilling from your lips almost endlessly. Your nails dig into his arms, leaving crescents in the surface of his skin as he fucks into you.
His pace is slow and steady, but harsh, with each of his thrusts shuffling you further up the mattress. He sits back on his heels, making sure he's still deep inside you as he lets both his hands cup your tits. He kneads the flesh in a way that is similar to how you kneaded the muscles of his arms earlier, and you let out a moan at the different form of stimulation.
He runs his hands from your chest down to your hips, holding you in place as he pulls out of you. You immediately whimper in protest, feeling empty as he carefully turns you to lay on your tummy.
"Just be patient for me, baby." He softly coos, gripping your hips so he can bring your lower half to rest on your knees, your ass in the air and on full display for his hungry eyes.
Changbin watches you nuzzle your face into the pillows as you sway your hips back and forth. He settles behind you, pushing the entirety of his length back inside you in one fluid thrust, and he has to hold your hips in place so you don't sink further into the mattress.
He quickly finds his rhythm again, hearing you almost scream into the pillows when he picks up his pace. He pulls you up until your upper body is resting on your elbows before he leans over your body to press open-mouthed kisses along your shoulder blades.
"Need to hear you, baby." He moans out, snaking his hand between your thighs to rub at your clit.
Your eyes roll back, your hips pushing back to meet his as you feel the knot in your stomach tighten. Your moans grow higher in pitch as you get closer to your high, and when Changbin hears your moans turn into high pitched whines, he rubs at your clit with more pressure to push you over the edge.
Your thighs shake and with your mind clouded in pleasure, you grab Changbin's arm that's between your thighs and bring it up to wrap around your throat.
Changbin freezes for a few seconds, the gears in his head turning as he hurriedly resumes his thrusts, slightly tightening his arm around your throat. You immediately clench around him, so hard that he has no choice but to briefly still inside you.
He didn't think it was possible for him to get harder, but seeing the effect something as simple as his arm has on you has him aching between your walls.
"Please, please, please!" You chant, breathless as he angles his hips to hit right where you need him repeatedly.
You let out a choked sob, the knot in your stomach coming dangerously close to unraveling as you feel Changbin speed up his thrusts, chasing his high as he moans into your neck.
It only takes a few more thrusts and Changbin tightening his arm around your throat to constrict your airflow just enough to allow only choked sobs and loud whimpers of his name for you to cum around his cock with a breathless scream.
Your walls squeeze his cock as they pulse around him, triggering his release as his hips stutter and he cums inside you with a loud moan of your name.
He releases his grip around your throat, letting you collapse fully onto the bed as you take in heavy breaths. You let out a cry when he carefully pulls out of you, and he's quick to turn you over and pull you into his side, softly hushing you as he rubs a comforting hand along the expanse of your back.
Your breathing eventually slows back down to a normal pace, and you nuzzle further into Changbin's side.
"Baby?"
"Yea?" You answer, looking up at him from your spot on his chest.
"Is that what you think about every time you zone out when you're staring at my arms?"
Realization hits you in that moment, and you freeze for a minute before you nod up at him.
"Was it as good as you thought it would be?" He gently asks, watching as you shake your head in response.
"It was much better than I thought it would be." You tell him honestly, watching a smile take over his features.
He pulls you impossibly closer to him, feeling proud and content as he hears you giggle. He presses a kiss against the top of your head before a shit-eating grin stretches across his features.
"What other secrets do you have, baby?"

OT8 Stray Kids
Dating reader with family issues
I don’t intend on this to be sad or angsty because I love everything fluffy/lovely and smutty when it comes to headcanons/fanfictions. That being said mild trauma/angst/sad family relationships trigger warnings. Hopefully you can feel the fluff too 💕✨
Bangchan
He’s understanding and supportive. Not from experience but because he’s listened carefully to you and has done independent research about your feelings and the situation. Talks you down from triggered states after calls with your family and gives you space when you need it. He gets a lot of the trauma is not about them being separated but the collateral issues. You’re grateful for him in every way and it makes you want to be get better and be better for you and him. He drives you to your first therapy appointment, waiting outside in case you get overwhelmed or aren’t just ready for this step. He’s glad that you’re still in there after 45mins and is proud that you’re ready for the next steps to ensure your health.
Lee Minho
He supportive of the rage but ensures you’re making way for positive growth. Letting you vent and rage when family occasions pop up is he’s way of support. He’s listening but mainly making sure you can get the pent up feelings out of your body so you can perceive more clearly and make good decisions. If you’re spiralling in anger he’s there to guide your thoughts away but he’s not a therapist. You’re already making the moves towards positive growth with your new therapist and knowing it’s okay to say no to meeting family you don’t want to see. He's love might look odd but you're just as odd.
Seo Changbin
He’s cautious and gives good advice. He’s been aware of the situation since you first got to know each other; seeing you clam up and retreat into yourself at the mention of your family and him meeting them one day. So, he made a point to not bring them up often and if he did, it was with caution. The day you finally opened up to him about what happened and your feelings, you were shocked at the amount to uplifting advice you got. He may not know what you’re feeling personally but he trying to help you navigate through it all and being able to talk about the problems is only just the first step your more than willing to take with his help.
Hwang Hyunjin
He’s cheers you on and is present for you. He doesn’t bring it up if you don’t and gives you space when you ask for it. The idea of forcing you to confront your trauma makes him uncomfortable. The moments you bring it up and are talking about seeking help or making active decisions about how to handle the family issues, he’s pitching in and cheering for you. He knows sometimes you just need to brood and figure it out and people looming over you or trying to force you to do something irks you. You’re thank for his presence, he mentioned once how he feels helpless cause he can’t do much for you regarding it all but you’ve assured him that him being there and cheering you on is more than he’ll ever know because you’ve never had it.
Han Jisung
He flexible and walks with you. He’s knows the importance of being on the same page so results are achieved with you and he’s able to do that by flowing with your emotional state on family topics. Your family seems to destabilise you despite your efforts to remain calm. He naturally has a keen eye for all concerning you so he asks directly about the situation and what you want to do about it. He’s able to help you accomplish your goals on managing them better and maintaining your peace. Appreciation doesn’t even cover half of the feelings you have for him regarding these matters.
Lee Felix
He’s gentleness and strength is all you need. When you both first spoke about your families and he heard about your feelings and hopes to create a gap, he couldn’t help but share a thought or two about reconciliation. Upon hearing the depth and breath of the issues he understood your reasoning. He’s consoled you during the start of distancing yourself and it brought you so much peace and on occasions were distancing wasn’t an option he held your hand firmly. Ultimately ready to speak up for you if you needed him to or walk out if it was called for. You’ve told him time again but he’s your safe place.
Kim Seungmin
He unintentionally became a comfort for a sad past and a ray of the future. The fact that he’s cheeky nature always eased you was a stepping stone to your friends to lovers relationship. You delighted in how you smiled unknowingly as he spoke and interacted with you and others alike. You hesitated a long time talking about your family situation to him and he felt no need to dig deeper because he trusted you’ll open up when it was right for you. You didn’t want a cloud of sadness over the bright skies you both treasure and he didn’t mind a cloudy day once in a while. Upon opening up to him, the warm smile across his face as you tried to hastily cover the issues with your plans to heal and navigate your family problems made you teary. You suddenly had a realisation you’ve always know in the end, that this person would hold my hand through all the suns and clouds the world had to offer.
Yang Jeongin
He loves with a might and wills you to be stronger. He tries to play it cool often but you knew that he sometimes became a physical representation of love when you were faced with negativity. You’ve been holding on with much power to stay positive despite the issues with your family. Staying passive and avoiding direct confrontation kept you from dealing with the mess in your mind. He never hesitates to speak on your behalf when you shutdown due to the stress, making the necessary calls. A particular nasty caller speaking down on him while he tried his best to stand up for you both had you livid. The passiveness and need to run away became non-existent at the face of your love being disrespected. You did the necessary, confronting the speaker and made your stance to live in peace if resolution wasn’t in the horizon. Living with the truth of the love shared making you stronger was needed for the healing to come.

Chapter One
It’s an unearthly quiet. You can hear the waves, your steps upon the sand, even the snuffling sound Amadeus makes when he’s sure he’s found an errant crab. But other than that, even the cars seem to be quiet today.
November in Jeju is oddly one of your favorites. Maybe it’s a bit elitist of you, but not having your home overrun with tourists seeking sun, beach, and tangerines is a welcome reprieve. Your very livelihood depends on those tourists to be sure, but when the weather grows colder, the masses go back to their regular lives and you are content to have the space and the quiet again. The air smells of salt and cold, and you tug your scarf around your face again as the wind likes to play with it.
Amadeus prefers the winter months as well. His coat is well-suited for the chill. You once gave him a shave to survive the summer, but he’d looked undignified and you knew that he was disappointed in you for even making that decision. His fur grew back, and you make sure he has plenty of water during those hot months and your walks together are before the sun comes up and late into the night so you both can beat the heat.
He rubs against your leg as though he knows you’re thinking of him (he probably does) and it surprises you so much that you stumble, almost dropping your bag.
You tsk at him but his querlous look tells you that it’s hardly his fault that you can’t be trusted to walk firmly.
He really can be such a judgmental soul.
“Don’t give me that look. You didn’t have to come.”
He snorts derisively and continues leading the way. You readjust your bag to your other shoulder, wincing at the knot at your shoulder blade that is definitely in need of some focus and pampering.
Maybe you spent a bit too much time at your stove again.
But you hurry to keep up with the sure-footed canine in front of you. He leaves the sand and the rocks to the road, ever mindful of the few cars that zoom by. You catch up with him, bending down to brush some of the sand from his ears and head as you both wait to cross toward town. He lets you before shaking you off and continuing on.
Muddy Water is situated at an ideal spot for a local bar: outskirts of the picturesque village, only meters from the ocean. It’s set in a curve of the island that protects from the most severe weather.
You glance at the sky, though the overcast day means it’s hard to pinpoint the exact location of the sun.
It’s early for a drink, but Muddy Water opens for late lunch until one in the morning, though often winter influences all small business owners to close early. The locals aren’t usually going to be up partying past ten.
Amadeus pads up the stoop to the front doors and then settles to the left side. He rests his head on his front paws, only raising his head once you’re at the doors.
“I’ll let him know you’re here too.”
You swear he smiles at the knowledge he’ll probably get fed something all too good for a dog.
You enter and blink a few times as the brightness of the winter day fades to the ambient lighting of the bar.
You hear your name before you see Yena behind the long bar, waving at you. You smile at the ever-bright and cheerful bartender. Woodz (which he prefers to be called as his music career slowly grows) is on the other end, serving the local solicitor and realtor. You nod your head at the two men, but don’t go anywhere near them.
The way they run their businesses is very different than how you run yours.
“What’s in your bag of goodies?” Yena asks with delight. You laugh as you take a seat on the stool right across from where she stands. She sets down a glass of water, before leaning against the smooth, worn wood of the bar. “We’re almost out of–”
You set two sealed jars on the bar, the thunking sound a little more aggressive than the pints of beer being consumed on the other end.
“You knew?”
You could let her think that you had some kind of sixth sense about your wares and the needs of clients, but…
“Your boss let me know.”
Yena looks a little disappointed that you didn’t just suss that out of the air. She takes the two jars and places them on the shelf next to a few bottles of red wine that Muddy Water likes to carry.
“Speaking of, is your boss around?”
Yena turns back to you with a small knowing grin. You raise your eyebrows in question as she pulls two empty jars and sets them before you. You appreciate that the bar remembers to save them once they’re empty.
“She’s in the office.”
“Working?”
Yena usually isn’t this cryptic. It’s not like you have major plans later, but you don’t like to leave your assistant that long in the shop alone.
“With her other bartender.”
Now you understand the knowing smile. You sigh and rest your chin in your hand.
“I would hate to interrupt anything between the two of them. But they might just be working?”
Yena snorts, a bit more high-pitched and cute than Amadeus’s.
“You don’t have to see his heart eyes all the time, every time he looks at her.”
“Jealous?”
“Yes.” Yena purses her lips. “Not really of him, well, I mean, look at him.”
Yes, you’ve looked.
“But more just having someone that gone over you, you know?”
Yena didn’t grow up here, but she has been around for almost a decade. It’s only since she’s been at the bar that you’ve gotten to know her better. You know more about her relationships than you want, but that was kinda what people did…they shared a lot with you.
“I think Lee Chan very much was ‘that gone’ over you.”
She pouts. “You’re probably right. I think I screwed that one up a little too well.” She brushes it off with a shake of her head. “What can I get you to drink? While you’re waiting for our bosslady?”
You eye the shelves like you always do, looking for something that sparks. Muddy Water has an array of liquors, though it’s not posh by any means. You don’t mind that as a good spirit doesn’t require a huge price tag most of the time.
“Whatever well bourbon you have. Maybe cognac too?”
Yena shakes her head. “You always want the cheapest stuff.”
“If it tastes good with the cheapest stuff, it’ll taste good with the most expensive.” You aren’t a mixologist by any means, and Muddy Water is more for the beer and soju crowd; but it’s a fun thing that you and the owner have come up with in the short time she’s been on the island.
Yena sets an empty glass, a tumbler with about two fingers of cognac and another similar amount of bourbon. You pull out two small jars from your own bag, setting them next to the glasses. Yena reaches for one.
“Can I?”
You nod, taking the other and pulling out the cork. You smell it, picking up on the peppercorns and vanilla. You take the cognac and sniff it as well. Your nose wrinkles and you set it down. You take the bourbon and do the same.
Better.
“Is it chai?” Yena asks of the other jar. “You can just make chai?”
You don’t answer her verbally, but lift up one eyebrow. She shrugs.
“What you do is like magic.”
“Hardly,” you answer, before tipping a little of the jar you hold into the bourbon. Precise measurements will come later. Right now, you just need to see if it complements each other. You swirl the dark liquid in the glass and smell it again. You offer it to Yena.
“It smells spicy.”
You nod, before taking back the glass and taking a tiny sip. The face you make pulls a laugh from your observer.
“Not good?”
“No, just not right.” You sip it again, ready for the harsh bite and let it linger on your tongue. “It needs muting.”
“Water?”
“Milk, or your alternate non-dairy option.”
Yena doesn’t look convinced but she goes to grab your request from the prep fridge opposite the realtor and solicitor. You watch as the two men, of a certain age, eyeball the younger bartender with lascivious intent. The music playing in Muddy Water at this early hour is softer than the nightly tunes, often live from local musicians, so the men hear your throat clearing very well.
They both look over, realize that it’s you and the mix of disgust and disdain pleases you almost as much as the scent of the mixed bourbon in front of you. They look away, back toward each other and continue their oh so important business conversation.
Yena returns with the milk carton and sets it amongst your glasses. You pour in about a finger, swirl yet again.
“Any way of heating up with milk prior to pouring?” you ask as you take another sip. Closer. The mellow combination of flavors works nicely.
“This isn’t a coffee shop. We have a microwave.”
That hurts your very soul.
“Yena, what are you–” The voice interrupts itself as you make out Muddy Water’s owner coming from the back of the building. Her hair is in mild disarray, evidence to Yena earlier supposition about the owner and still absent bartender. “Eonnie!”
You greet her with a grin. “Busy doing paperwork, then?”
The absent bartender, Hyunjin, also enters from the back, his hair slightly more in place, but it’s close. He also smiles when he sees you.
“Is he here?” he asks and you can’t be bothered that he doesn’t actual greet you.
“He’s outside. Waiting for you.”
Hyunjin is all glee as he grabs the designated bowl behind the bar, and a small canister that you know houses dog treats. He’s already calling through the front doors to your companion. You can almost hear the thumping of Amadeus’s tail against the wooden porch.
Yena brings the conversation back to what you two were up to. “She wants us to heat the milk. I don’t think we can. Unless we do it in the kitchen?”
You offer the mixed glass to her. You know her palate is far more advanced than Yena’s so as much as you like the young bartender, it’s the owner’s thoughts you really want to hear.
She sips it much like you did, very little and just lets it sit on her tongue for a few seconds.
“Yes, warmed,” she says before taking another sip. “And a little sweet, I think. Just a little simple…” She looks around and grabs the bottle of clear liquid. She tilts it in for one count. You know from your time with her that it’s equal to about a fourth of an ounce. She sips it again. Adds more.
Then offers it back to you.
The sweet does round it out nicely.
“What is the tea?” she asks you as you nod your approval.
“Rooibos. It’s dark like a black tea, but no caffeine. This would be a good, before sleep kind of drink. I added peppercorns and vanilla.” You touch the small jar, and cork it before pushing it over. “I was thinking of more wintery type flavors and came up with this and the other.”
Yena has gotten bored, you think, and walked down to another patron, who seems far less concerning than the ‘upstanding’ citizens of earlier.
“What’s the other?”
You uncork it and offer it to her.
“Smells like chai.”
“It is. Or my version of it.” You take it back before administering a tiny amount to cognac. You’ve probably already been here longer than you thought, but it’s nice at this hour, before the after supper and after work people drift in like Muddy Water is a homing beacon. You taste the new mix and wrinkle your nose.
She takes it from you. Her expression is more thoughtful than yours at first drink.
“Needs…” She moves to the back of the bar. “What’s in it exactly?”
“Cardamom, fennel, black tea.”
She spins around with a ‘eureka’ type grin and brings over a bottle of bitters.
“I have cardamom bitters.” She dispenses three drops of the bitter and takes another taste. “That helps.” She pushes it to you as she goes back to the bar, looking among the many additions and cordials, and spirits. “What about almond?”
“Maybe. But not amoretto. I think that might overpower.”
She nods without looking back at you. You smell it again.
“Citrus too.”
She brings over a bottle of orgeat and bottles of lemon and lime juice. She puts in one count of the orgeat and then holds the two bottles of juices, looking at you for direction.
“Lemon I think.”
“I think the same,” she concurs and adds two counts. She stirs it with a bar spoon and tries it yet again.
You go to try it but she stops you.
“Hold on.”
It’s fun to watch someone who enjoys their work. You wonder if anyone stopping by your shop would think the same of you, though they don’t get to see the experimentation as much, just the results on shelves for sale.
“What are you adding?”
“Egg white.”
You know that’s common in cocktails, but the idea still throws you. She shakes it together without ice, then adds ice, shakes and strains it back into the same glass. She hands it to you for first taste.
You sniff it before trying.
“It has such a nice froth.”
“That’s the egg whites.” She grins widely. “So yeah?”
“I think so. Maybe something interesting for a garnish, but I’ll leave that to you and your experts.”
She chuckles before trying the cocktail herself. “Mmmm. Yeah. I like it.” She points to the bottles. “How much?”
“Oh…you can price the drinks. I need to figure out cost and supply. I was just daydreaming in my kitchen.”
The door opens and Hyunjin returns.
“I think he’s ready to go home,” he tells you as he passes by to go behind the bar where his partner is. He pauses at the drinks. “New?”
She eagerly offers them both to him, explaining each. He sips both, enjoying both sets of flavors, but you notice how he watches her as she continues to suggest maybe a food pairing with the chai cognac. His eyes are incredibly fond and warm.
People in love are both beautiful and annoying.
“He’s right,” you interrupt. “Amadeus and I should probably head back. Let me know final thoughts, okay?” You start to stand up from the bar stool when the door opens again.
“You know there’s a wolf outside, right?”
The voice is unfamiliar and highly concerned, and the brightness of the outside light let in means you can’t see the newcomer for several seconds. It’s a voice with a raspy quality, like the beginnings of winter have already dried out his throat.
“Seo?” is the first response. From Hyunjin who with Muddy Water’s owner are staring at the person like he’s a ghost.
He doesn’t seem ghost-like. He seems incredibly solid. Broad in the shoulders, you get the sense that he carries more than just his own physical weight. It’s an immediate thought, one you have knowing you know nothing about this person, but it’s there nonetheless.
“Changbin,” she says before moving out from behind the bar to walk up to him. The man’s face softens as she gets close, a relaxing of his entire posture.
“Hey little Park.”
She hugs him, tight and without any sort of hesitation. You relax as well, not even realizing that his intrusion made you watchful, tense.
“What are you doing here?” she asks as she lets go of him. You watch as Hyunjin also rounds the bar to greet the stranger.
You take their distraction as a blessing, and slip by the three as they chat quietly. You feel his eyes swept over you, an awareness that you are there and leaving.
Amadeus is up on all fours when you get outside.
“Did you scare him?” you ask before starting down the steps, back the way you came. Amadeus gives no clear answer, but you think your companion trots a little too giddily.
—
It’s a relief to see her like this. Still in her element, but beyond bright, healthy and happy. Changbin glances up to see Hyunjin eyeing him in a very familiar way: amiable, but certainly skeptical.
It’s been awhile, but Hwang hasn’t lost his syndicate instincts. Changbin wouldn’t expect him to.
“I’m on vacation,” he replies to her question, focusing back on the girl he’s known since middle school. When he found himself running alongside the rest of them: Lee, Bang, and Han. The rest had been around the syndicate for awhile, families intertwined, but Changbin just stumbled into their world. “I’ve accrued a bit too much time off, so they’re kinda forcing me to get lost.” He hopes his smile covers anything that might make either of them suspicious. “And well, Jeju is where my favorite Park lives. Wanted to make sure he,” he nods at Hyunjin, “was treating you right.”
Even being on the outskirts of the organization, it was obvious to him how Hwang felt about the former president’s daughter. It was after the fact that Hwang stepped down that Changbin found out about it, but it hadn’t taken much of his investigative skills to find where the two ended up.
Which concerned him.
“Knew you weren’t here to see me,” Hwang retorts, tugging her close to his side.
“Sure? You’ve always been pretty,” Changbin responds with a wink at the taller man. “Kinda missed that face.”
He gets an exasperated sigh and eye-roll, which tells him that Hwang has definitely eased a little. Which is what Changbin needs right now.
She grabs him by the wrist, leading him to the bar. He follows, looking around, taking in the patrons, the set-up. It’s very different than Circus in Busan, but the vibe still feels like the two of them, just planted elsewhere.
He sits on a stool as she sits next to him, Hwang stealing around the bar.
“Beer?”
“Is no one really concerned about the wolf outside?” Jeju has natural wildlife, of course, but a wolf was not something Changbin, nor any Korean he guessed, expected to run into.
“Oh!” She laughs and looks about. “I guess she left. It’s her dog.”
When he’d entered there had been only one other woman that wasn’t his old friend, or the young bartender at the far end of the bar. She’d swept by him in the midst of his reunion and he’d noticed. Mostly due to the fact that she wore a modernized, simple hanbok - traditional wear in a place that felt all but traditional.
“Her dog?” Changbin repeated. “It was a wolf.”
She looks at Hwang. “Is it a wolf?”
“I’ve never asked,” he replies, setting out a glass of water for Changbin. “He could be.”
“His name is Amadeus and Hyunjin is half in love with him.”
There’s a scoff, but Hwang nods in agreement. “Beer?” he asks Changbin. “Or are you on–”
Changbin shakes his head immediately. He doesn’t want people to know what he does for a living. People treat you one way when they believe you’re just a regular person. They treat you another way when they know you’re a cop.
“Just whatever you have on tap,” Changbin says before looking back at the woman next to him. “Amadeus…Like Mozart? Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart?”
Her eyes widen. “Oh my god, I never even thought of that.” She glances at Hyunjin who places two pints on the bar. “Did you know that?”
“I mean, kinda, but I wasn’t thinking Wolfgang…like wolf.” He grins. “Sounds like her, though.”
Changbin shakes his head at their agreement, intrigued by this detour of conversation, but knowing he needs to stay on track. He takes a sip of the pint, the bitter flavor doing wonders for his exhaustion. It’s not a long trip from Busan to Jeju, but his fatigue has more to do with what came before he left.
“How….” she begins but falters for a second, glancing around at the space as though someone is paying attention, like someone could hear. “How is everyone?”
Changbin takes another swallow of beer. He knew she’d ask, or one of them would. Her trepidation on talking about it is a stark reminder that there is freedom for her and Hwang, but it doesn’t erase the past.
He nods. “Good.” He smiles at her as warmly as possible. “Pretty much the same. But we should have dinner or something if you want details.” Private. Safe.
Surely Jeju has safe places to discuss dodgy histories.
She nods, absorbing what he isn’t saying. He misses the openness of her expression just moments before. Hwang watches her before looking at Changbin. He nods too, unspoken understanding. As he goes to tend to another customer, Changbin sees Hwang rub his arm absently. Despite the long shirt as it is drifting into winter, Changbin knows what is there.
Or what was there.
His own arm itches as though it reflects Hwang’s, but Changbin dismisses any physical action to soothe it. It’s in his head.
She reaches out to place her hand on his forearm. He meets her eyes.
“I’ve missed you.”
It’s dark in the bar and he’s grateful because he knows he blushes at her words and sincerity. Doesn’t matter that it was a brief and superficial crush, the daughter of his first boss would always be special to him.
He raises his eyebrows to deflect. “Yeah? Hwang that unsatisfying?”
She pinches him and he yelps, which just makes her laugh. It’s nice to hear her laugh. Those last weeks and days before she left had dimmed her brightness. She looks and sounds like she used to. Before the loss of her father. Before everything had gone down with Bobby.
He stiffens at the reminder, even if it’s only in his head and she’s not in there, thank god.
“He came for me,” she says as softly as someone can in a bar before it gets hit with the after-work crowd. “He left–” she makes a hand gesture that would mean nothing, but he knows. “For me.”
When had he become confidante?
“He beat me to it.”
She rolls her eyes, their banter back in play. He nurses his beer as she regales him of what he’s missed since she left; mostly about the bar and this village. He’s grinning and chuckling, but some part of him still prods at him about why he’s here.
And why he isn’t telling her.
It’s dinner time and they make plans to meet up tomorrow for a more personal chat. Hwang comes by to reassure that he’s coming too. He’s no threat, Hwang knows this, but it’s too easy to needle the other, especially about her, so Changbin lets out a long-suffering sigh as he finishes his beer.
As he gets up to head back to his hotel room, he notices the glasses of some mixed something. He points to them.
“Oh! You should try.”
“Are you poisoning me?”
“Not yet.”
He’s still cautious when he tries one. It’s sweeter than he tends to, but the spice of it is nice. He tries the other; cognac isn’t something he’s had since he was sixteen and wanted to drink whatever he could get his underage hands on.
“Not bad.”
She goes on to explain what is in the two drinks, including the other woman’s role in concocting.
“The woman with the wolf?”
She rolls her eyes. “Yes, her.”
Changbin sips the first drink again. “It’s pretty good.”
“She owns the tea shop about a kilometer from here. I mean, it’s the only tea shop within like fifty kilometers. Unless you buy your tea at the grocer like a peasant.”
He chuckles at her words, gives her a quick ‘see you later’ hug and heads back out. He looks over to where he first saw the wolf-or-dog before he jogs down the steps to the street and sidewalk. He can hear the ocean as he reminds himself how to get back to his hotel.
The people milling about, both on foot and in car seem like locals. At this point in the year, it’s unlikely many main-landers would venture to the small island.
As Changbin walks along the road, hands deep in his pockets, he hopes his assumption is true. And if anyone does show up, it’ll be obvious.
Away from their natural habitat, the underbelly of Busan would stick out. And he could neutralize the threat before it ever got near Muddy Water’s owner and her partner, formerly of the Park Syndicate.
That’s why he was here.

Is there something up with the High Valyrian wiki?
https://wiki.languageinvention.com/index.php?title=High_Valyrian_language
I've had this link bookmarked since ages. I can't seem to load the page. I've tried all sorts of browsers and it is still not working. i wanted to get back into actively learning HV again and duolingo is kinda annoying so. Is there a different page/resource the wiki has moved on to? I also seem to recall an old forum for HV with a bunch of really good resources for it. is it possible for you to provide a link? Thanks so much anyway!!
Good question! This wiki, which you can find here..
...is a labor of love—not just from me, but from a team of dedicated individuals who want to get information about my languages up somewhere more or less permanent, editable by many, and all in one place.
For years I have had a hosting plan from DreamHost. For a fixed fee, DreamHost allows you, essentially, infinite storage. I've got a dozen or so websites hosted by the same DreamHost account. I have to pay for the urls (a yearly fee; everyone pays these), but the hosting itself is covered, no matter if I had one website or a hundred.
Creating a wiki that would function like Wiktionary was my idea. I love Wiktionary, and love the idea behind it. For example, let's say you wanted to look up mate. This is an English word. It's also a subjunctive form of matar "to kill" in Spanish. It's also the word for "saliva" in Swahili. It's also "dead" in Tahitian. It's also a word in several other languages. It's kind of cool to take an abstract form—going just by spelling—and seeing that it's a word in a bunch of different languages, all with different etymologies (some related, of course. For example, mate has something to do with death in a lot of Oceanic languages. In Hawaiian it's make, which looks like an entirely different English word!).
In Dothraki, the word tor is the number four. It comes from Proto-Plains *tur (and so would be tur in Lhazareen). It's also the word for "tower" in Hen Linge (this is one of the words coined by Andrzej Sapkowski, not created by me). In Noalath, from The Shannara Chronicles, it's the word for "wolf", and in Shiväisith, the language I created for the Dark Elves from Thor: The Dark World, it's the word for "sword". While it's true I didn't create the Hen Linge word, I created the others, so you can see it's a form I'm fond of, where the shape is possible.
Anyway, that's kind of cool! And that was the point of the site.
As it happens, the High Valyrian section of the site is…massive. To give you an idea, at the moment, the wiki has over 220,000 pages. Most of those are High Valyrian pages. This is because there's a dedicated team for High Valyrian that has added pages for every single noun, adjective, and verb inflection for every existing word on the wiki. To give you an idea, every verb of High Valyrian has around 200 forms (ipradagon "to eat", ipradan "I eat", ipradā "you eat", ipradas "s/he/it eats", etc.). Every single form for every single verb has its own page. This was accomplished primarily with a program that populated the inflectional pages, but however they got there, they're there.
Certain things on the wiki are templates that need to go through and "check" every single page. Additionally, a webcrawler goes through and checks every single page on the wiki. This requires a lot of RAM. As a result, periodically, the entire website just...shuts down.
Obviously this is not cool. I asked DreamHost about it, and though we have infinite space, we don't have infinite RAM. The first step was to disable all web crawlers. You know about SEO, and how you can do things to increase the page rank of your site? Well, we needed to do the opposite. We needed to make the site disappear from the net, effectively. And we did. This is why even if you type "David J. Peterson wiki language invention" into Google you get nothing. It's like we don't exist. We're there, but you have to know we're there and go to the site specifically. That helped, but our own programs still shut things down.
The second step was to get a private server (technically a virtual private server) for the site. This cost me an extra $25 a month ($300 a year) from what I was already paying. This definitely helped, but sometimes things get to be a bit too much, and so the site still shuts down. This is what you experienced.
You know how Wikipedia begs you for money every year? It's because of this. It's one thing to create an awesome resource; it's another thing for people to actually use it.
Hosting already costs me about $250 every two years, and every year I renew the urls for about 15 websites, which is another $300 a year. If I upgrade the VPS to the next level, it's even more money every year. And that's just me paying it.
Right now, we're in an okay spot. The site shuts down every so often, but most of the time it's more or less stable. Unless I start making a lot more money regulary, that's the way it's going to stay.
So if you go to the site and it's down, I'm very sorry, but it will be back. May take a few days, but it'll come back (as long as I'm alive, anyway).

Title: Bet on You
Tumblr media
“And you have no idea what he has planned.”
You shake your head and huff out a sigh, studying the patterns on the dorm’s old popcorn ceilings.
“No idea. And I hate surprises.”
“We know.” Hyunjin remarks wryly from his spot beside Felix on the couch, chin on the other omega’s shoulder.
You raise your head just enough to shoot him a glare and then let it flop back down to the floor once more with a groan.
“God, I never should have agreed to this.”
“What, going on a date?” Seungmin asks plainly, not bothering to look up from his book, as he flips to a new page. “I think it’ll be good for you.”
“You would say that.” You retort sharply and then with a pointed glower in the beta’s direction, “Traitor.”
“Maybe he won’t even show.” Jisung pipes up distractedly, biting his bottom lip in concentration as he tries to beat a level on whatever game he’s currently playing, eyes trained on the switch in his hands.
“Why do you say that?” Felix asks curiously, playing with Hyunjin’s fingers in his lap.
“Dammit.” Jisung mutters under his breath, before letting the handheld game fall onto his lap, his eyes focusing on you as he raises his head slightly from its position atop your shins.
He looks suddenly sheepish.
“Um, well, I might have scared him off. Because I maybe asked him if he’d fuck me in the studio sometime? It’s been like a lifelong fantasy of mine, you know?”
Changbin chokes on his water, coughing violently, and Minho thwacks him none too gently on the back in response.
Hyunjin is cackling.
Changbin gets enough of his breath back to gasp out incredulously, eyes bugging out of his head, “Why wouldn’t you ask me that?!”
Jisung shrugs, already focused back on the new level of his game.
“I didn’t know you’d be into it.” He glances up now, smirk on his lips, as he stares at the astounded alpha. “Would you fuck me in the studio, hyung?”
Changbin splutters.
“Yeah, of course I would, if you had asked!”
“Oh. Hm.”
“Oh god.” You groan and cover your face with your hands. “This date is going to be a disaster.”
“Take heart, noona.” Hyunjin reaches down to pat your head in a patronizingly sweet manner, and you swat blindly at his hands. You can hear the grin in his voice. “Jisung did you a favor.”
“Yeah!” Jisung pumps a fist and starts upward, voice triumphant, until he glances up in confusion and sinks back down to his spot against your legs. “Wait. What did I do?”
Hyunjin grins like the cat who’s just had the canary.
“ Now nothing, and I mean nothing, is going to appear more daunting for Chan-hyung than meeting Han Jisung.”
********
“I really, really don’t like surprises.” You repeat dolefully for what feels like the fifth time in as many minutes, and Chan shoots you a look that’s equal parts exasperation, equal parts fond amusement.
The latter has your heart doing a weird little skip in your chest.
“So you’ve said. But I swear to God-” He avoids a puddle in the middle of the sidewalk, and comes back to your side with a slight grimace and a look upward at the dripping trees overhead. “-it’s nothing crazy.”
“Damn.” You reply sarcastically, tone teasing, as you watch your footing, careful not to step in the mud that lines the path. “And here I was hoping that you’d rented me a yacht and a Michelin starred chef for the evening.”
Chan chuckles, and you hide your grin behind your teeth.
“I mean-” He holds his hands out and gives you a sidelong glance. “-I’ve been told I can cook a mean pot of ramen.”
“Oh yeah?” You snort and eye him disbelievingly. “Who told you that? Changbin?”
Chan hesitates as you both step around another pool of rainwater. “Maybe.”
You scoff. “Please. Seo Changbin will eat anything. That man would eat my cooking and rave about it for a week, and that’s saying something.”
Chan laughs again, and you try to ignore the fact that you really like hearing it-his laugh. It’s nice.
He cocks his head and gives you the start of a smile, biting on his bottom lip as his dimples start to hollow out his cheeks.
“What, it’s that bad?”
You snort beneath your breath again and this time, you let yourself grin, even as you roll your eyes.
“Well, it’s not good, that’s for sure.”
Chan huffs a laugh beneath his breath and digs his hands into the pockets of his coat as you round the corner and stop abruptly at the back of one of the buildings downtown.
You’re not sure which building it is, not from the back, but you squint suspiciously at the door before you, the door which Chan currently has his hand on, the door clearly labeled No Public Access.
The other alpha glances over his shoulder at you, and upon seeing your expression, chuckles, his hand already turning the knob.
“I promise, I’m not gonna kidnap or murder you. Swear to God.”
You stay rooted to the spot, staring him down, eyes still narrowed.
“I’m not worried about that. I could absolutely crush you in hand to hand combat, Christopher Bang. Felix has been teaching me taekwondo.”
His eyes go wide for a moment, and then he laughs, a genuine, throaty chuckle, and starts to pull open the door.
“Good to know.”
He throws another mischievous glance back at you, before ducking through the door, and you realize, with a deep sigh, that you have no other option but to follow him.
With slight caution, wolf on high alert, you step through the door.
Chan is waiting on the other side, and he watches with a growing smile on his face as your jaw drops and your eyes widen.
“Oh my god.” “Surprise?” He offers hesitantly, still watching you carefully.
You step forward, still staring, open mouthed, at the behind the scenes of the biggest traveling science exhibit that has ever graced downtown Seoul.
Chan cocks his head beside you, grinning full force now. “Seungmin said you really wanted to go.”
You glance back at him in disbelief. “Yeah, and he also said that tickets sold out instantly. How did you-?”
Chan shrugs, grin only widening, and gives you a mischievous wink. “I happen to have an inside man.”
Your gaze lifts once more to the towering displays, the hundreds of people walking by on the opposite side of the glass cases, and you feel your heart do a weird little thing in your chest.
You force your gaze to remain impassive as you turn back to the other alpha once more.
“You don’t like science.”
He shrugs again, looking serious now, his eyes holding yours. “Yeah, but you do.” His lips lift once more into a cheeky grin, dimples appearing. “And I like you, so.”
You scoff, hoping to god he hasn’t seen the light pink starting to dust your cheeks, and glance down at where your sneakers scuff the floor in an effort to avoid his gaze.
“Disgusting.”
Chan chuckles, and his hand finds the small of your back. His palm is warm, even through the thick material of your coat.
“Oh, speaking of man on the inside-”
You raise your gaze curiously at his words, and see someone headed directly toward you, purpose in their step, and there’s two things you notice immediately about Chan’s ‘inside man.’
Number one-she’s not a man, not in the slightest.
And two, her candied peony scent wafting toward you tells you only one thing-omega.
Your wolf growls protectively, and you swallow, trying to keep your own scent stable.
The woman reaches the two of you, and eyes crinkling into a large smile, stops just short of touching Chan, her heels coming to a sharp staccato on the tile beneath your feet.
“I’m so glad you made it!”
Chan, however, doesn’t hesitate, sweeping her into a hug that has them both laughing as he exclaims, “Lisa! Super great to see you, mate!”
Your wolf snarls-mine-and you immediately force the thought deep down inside, because it’s bullshit, all of it.
Chan isn’t yours-you’re not even sure if you like the guy-and he’s definitely not pack, so why is your entire body quivering with withheld jealousy at this moment?
You note the sour tone to your scent, and force a deep breath and a smile as Chan finally releases the omega and she turns to you.
Chan grins. “(Y/N), this is Lisa. She’s the one who managed to get us in.” He glances at the shorter woman proudly, then, “She’s one of Seoul’s top emerging event planners.”
Lisa giggles and swats his arm. “Stop. Don’t tell her things like that, Channie.”
The nickname has bile rising in the back of your throat, and you try to ignore the way Lisa tucks her long blonde hair prettily behind her ear as she steps toward you and holds out her hand.
You take it, noting the way her perfectly manicured red nails are in stark contrast to your own, currently sporting chipped teal nail polish haphazardly applied by Jisung.
“It’s so nice to meet you. Chan doesn’t shut up about you.” She gives you a little conspiratorial smile and wink as she shakes your hand gently.
“Oh?” You glance past her to Chan with a raised eyebrow, and he’s dutifully avoiding your gaze now. “That’s good to hear. I’m flattered, Channie.”
He glances up at the sharp use of the nickname, but you’re already looking away.
“Well.” Lisa steps back, releasing you, and your whole body gives a sigh of relief as the smell of peonies starts to fade. “I’ve got things to do. But it was really nice to meet you, (Y/N)-” She gives you a little nod and smile, and gives Chan one more quick hug before stepping away, pointing a menacing finger in his direction. “-Keep in touch better, Channie. Your eomma is worried.” Chan rubs at the back of his neck awkwardly and huffs a laugh. “I’ll call her this week.”
Lisa nods. “Good.” She waves to you both. “Enjoy the exhibit, you two!”
She disappears into the crowds.
You watch her go, trying to calm your bristling nerves and annoyed wolf, and Chan steps up beside you. “Ready?”
You drag your eyes away from where Lisa disappeared, and can’t help but be petty, just for a moment.
“She’s pretty.”
Chan is quiet for a moment, and then he drops a hand on your shoulder, leaning in to murmur in your ear with slight amusement, “You don’t need to be jealous, you know.”
You scoff and shrug out from under his hold, determined not to look at him.
“I’m not jealous, Christopher, I’m bisexual.”
One of those things is the truth, so it’s only half a lie.
Without another glance back, you stomp toward the line for the science exhibit.
Chan chuckles beneath his breath and follows you without another word.
*******
You’re watching Chan cook beef-raw, red, rare, just how you both like it-on the small barbecue grill at the restaurant later, and you don’t know if it’s the soju or the atmosphere or the leftover glow from the exhibit, but everything feels soft, nice, in place.
Maybe it’s because he’s your moonmate, your wolf whispers, and you bury the thought deep beneath the surface before you can dwell on it, knocking back another shot of soju.
“You should drink some water.” Chan hums beneath his breath, as he flips another piece of meat, and you roll your eyes.
“No.”
“Yeah.” He motions with his chopsticks to your water glass with a raised brow. “It’s good for you.” You hold his gaze defiantly, and reach for the glass without looking, draining the water before setting it back down on the table.
“Happy?” You ask in an overly sweet tone, batting your eyelashes at him for good effect.
Chan laughs and shakes his head, going back to tending the meat.
“Yeah, happy.” He flips the meat once more, lips still pulled into an amused smile at your antics, and settles back into his chair, watching it carefully as it continues to sizzle.
He catches you off guard when he says, “You know, I know you think you’re being all bristly and standoffish when you’re like this, but it can’t be helped.” He glances up at you through the shag of his curls and grins, and you try to ignore the flash of his dimples. “I find it incredibly cute when you’re trying to put up a defiant front.”
You stare at him and then groan, rolling your eyes.
“Oh god. You’re one of those.”
Chan stares at you in open confusion. “One of those?” He questions back, looking entirely lost now.
“Yeah.” You nod and prop your chin in your hand, staring him down, as he pulls pieces of meat off the grill and places them on your plates. “A brat tamer.”
His chopsticks pause in mid air. “What?”
You pop a piece of beef into your mouth and chew, before you say, pointing at him with your chopsticks now, “Yeah. Someone who likes when their partners defy them, or rile them up on purpose. Minho’s one too.”
Chan is staring at you. “Oh, really?”
You can tell. He’s just had some sort of epiphany.
You eat another piece of meat and chew while nodding emphatically. “One hundred percent. See-” You wave your chopsticks around again, as Chan moves to turn off the grill, popping his own piece of beef into his mouth. “-You and Minho. Makes sense. Changbin, he’s like, half that way? But only with certain partners. Usually Hyunjin, cause that one is a capital B Brat. With me-” You take a sip of your water thoughtfully. “-Changbin usually switches. He’s big into bottoming sometimes.”
Chan chokes on his own sip of water.
You wait for his coughing to die down, and then he says hoarsely, “That–feels illegal to know.”
You shrug and eat another bite of food. “I mean. If you wanna be part of the pack, you need to know all that shit, right?”
You eat another bite, dutifully avoiding his gaze, even though you can feel it boring into your head, and try to ignore the way the atmosphere has gotten suddenly serious.
Finally, Chan clears his throat and asks quietly, “You–want me to join the pack?”
You shrug and continue to avoid looking across the table, moving your food around your plate aimlessly now, just for something to do.
“I mean. Jury’s still out. And it’s not just up to me. But-” You glance up now, and you have to stop yourself from letting your gaze fall to his mouth, the plush skin of his bottom lip sucked between his teeth in an anxious gesture. “-I don’t think I’m opposed anymore.”
Chan sucks in a sharp breath, you see it in the rise and fall of his chest, and then he grins so brightly that you’re almost blinded.
You clear your throat and take another long drink of water, just so he doesn’t see the blush creeping up your neck.
“I-” He sets down his chopsticks and folds his hands in his lap. “-I’m really happy to hear that actually.”
“Don’t go getting a big head.” You warn teasingly, though you still can’t quite meet his gaze. “Like I said, it’s not just up to me, and Minho’s a hard sell.”
Chan’s grin widens.
“I wouldn’t worry about Minho. Now that I know we have so many similar qualities, I think we’ll get along just fine.”
******
“Well, this is me.” You offer awkwardly, trying to be cheesy because you know Chan just lives a floor up from you, but falling flat, as you both stand in front of your door after dinner.
Chan laughs anyway, because he’s a good sport, and you appreciate the gesture. You’ll never admit it to him, but when he laughs and his dimples appear, it makes you go all warm and fuzzy inside, your thoughts turning to mush.
Damn soju.
You’re both hesitating for some unknown reason now, and Chan looks like he wants to say something, but can’t quite brave it, and you decide to hell with it, you’ll do it, because what’s the worst that could happen?
“Do you wanna come in?” You blurt out, no hesitation, voice confident, and Chan looks entirely off guard. “And yes, that’s entirely a line. It’s definitely an invitation. Just so we’re clear.”
He’s still staring at you blankly, and the smirk curving your lips fades in the face of his silence, and suddenly, you’re floundering.
You backpedal a bit, hand sneaking behind you to the doorknob. “I mean, only if you want to, of course. You don’t have to if you don’t want to-”
Chan kisses you before you can make an even bigger fool of yourself.
This kiss is entirely different from the first time, when you kissed in the hallway outside Felix’s room, on the brink of something unknown and an omega’s heat.
That kiss was sweet and soft and gentle and a bit timid, languid, testing unsure boundaries.
No, this kiss is nothing like that. This kiss is impatient and hurried, frantic, teeth bumping and tongues tangling almost instantly, licking into each other’s mouths as Chan cages you back against the door, angling your chin expertly with one big hand.
There’s a break for breath, and you find words still tumbling from your lips.
“We never got to talk about it, after Felix and everything, and we said we’d do it later and I just thought-” “(Y/N).” Chan’s low, commanding use of your name has you shutting up, meeting his gaze, his irises swirling golden and caramel, his lips pulled into the start of an amused smirk.
He lets his thumb trace over the outline of your bottom lip, slow and sensual, and you have to stop the visceral reaction of a shiver that threatens to run up your spine.
“Stop talking.”
You swallow, and freeze beneath his hand, his fingers now tracing down your throat.
“Right. Sorry.”
His smirk flickers, and then he’s leaning in once more, slotting his mouth over yours, picking up where you left off.
Chan tastes like soju and vanilla chapstick and how the forest floor smells after rain, and you know that doesn’t make sense, but somehow it does and-
The warmth of his fingers curl around the jut of your hip bone beneath your sweater, and suddenly, cognitive function ceases to exist, what is a thought? You wouldn’t know.
He slots a thigh between your legs, and makes a content noise in the back of his throat when you gasp in response-something between a hum and a growl-and dammit, if it doesn’t instantly make you wet.
His fingers graze your scent gland and-
Fuck.
You’re stumbling backward into your apartment before either of you know what you’re doing, tangled up in each other, blindly navigating the hallway, your fingers tangled in his curls, his palm on the small of your back to keep you from falling.
When your back hits the bed, you break contact for another brief moment, and you stare at each other for a long second, and you don’t know what Chan’s thinking, but you’re admiring the way he looks like this-all kiss bitten and rumpled from your fingers, hovering above you, knees on either side of your hips, staring down at you like you’re the prettiest thing he’s ever seen.
He seems to snap out of his daze after a moment and glances around your small room.
“Fuck. I didn’t-” He glances back to you helplessly, and you understand what he’s getting at.
“It’s fine.” You motion to your arm with a raised brow. “Birth control. You can hit it raw, pretty boy, with no consequences. Consider me every man’s wet dream.”
Chan stares at you for another long moment, and you think he’s gonna make a comment somewhere along the lines of ‘but what if-’ or ‘we should be safe, just in case-” because you don’t know much, but you’ve gathered that Christopher Bang is a bit of an overthinker, even in the short time you’ve known him.
But instead, he simply leans back in, and putting his lips close to your ear, murmurs, “Would you like that? Tell me, would you like me to breed you, (Y/N)?”
All the air leaves your lungs, and when he meets your eyes once more, you see it, see the alpha, the gold swirling, mesmerizing, in the depths of his dark gaze.
Everything inside of you wants.
“I-” You start to say, because you can’t think of the words, can’t even form a cognitive thought after what he’s just asked, even though inside, your wolf is practically clawing in impatience, begging for you to say yes.
Yes, alpha, I’d like that. God, I want that, more than anything.
He’s still staring at you, eyes like minted coins, and he cocks his head, raising a brow in an entirely too attractive way for your own good.
“Hm?” He hums beneath his breath, reaching up to trace a finger over your mouth, finger coming back slick with spit. “Use your words, baby. Tell alpha what you want.”
You swallow, and gain back some of your senses.
“I think you want me to beg you to fuck me, alpha.” You reply instead, heart hammering in your ears, trying to keep your expression neutral as you stare up at him, your wolf making it hard, as it already bares its throat.
Chan smirks, predatory and dangerous.
“Is that what I want?”
You shrug casually, trying to put on an air of indifference.
“Sure sounds like it.” Chan, for what it’s worth, looks thoughtful, before he once again leans into your space suddenly, his fingers looping around your wrists as he pins you down, eyes sparking.
“Interesting. Because I think-” He muses beneath his breath, voice almost a growl in the back of his throat, and you have to stop your body from quivering beneath his in a physical reaction to his tone. “-it sounds like I’m asking you to tell me how badly you’d like for me to finish inside of you.” “Oh my god.” You exclaim, staring at him in shock now, as he drops the facade and instantly looks worried, like he’s hurt you somehow, or done something wrong. “This is a kink for you, isn’t it?”
You see his shoulders slump in relief, and he suddenly looks like he’s reflecting.
“I dunno. Is it? Maybe. I’ve never really thought about it.”
“It’s definitely a kink.” You laugh at his open surprise, reaching up to stick a finger into the outline of one of his dimples. “But we can talk about that later. Right now-”
You let the grin drop from your face as you push yourself up on your elbows beneath him, and Chan looks curious, frozen, like he’s waiting for what you’re going to do next.
You lean in close and let your lips brush his ear, teeth grazing his pulse point as you talk. You don’t miss the way he shivers.
“Right now, alpha, I’d really like for you to fill me up.”
******
“Breeding kink.” You announce triumphantly, as you sit down at the table in Changbin’s kitchen, letting your backpack drop to the floor.
“Oh god.” Chan groans out from between his fingers, already flushing pink.
“Really.” Hyunjin whistles, glancing at Chan with a smirk, before he reaches into his pocket and flicks Changbin a dollar across the table. “Interesting.”
“I did not see that one coming.” Jisung looks thoughtful, and a little bit betrayed, as he too reaches into his pocket and slaps a dollar into Changbin’s outstretched hand.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa.” Chan has gotten over his embarrassment enough to look appalled at what’s happening around him. “Did you guys bet on this?”
“Of course we did.” Hyunjin snorts, stuffing a hot cheeto into his mouth, as he pulls out his phone gleefully. “I gotta call Felix. This is gold.”
“And I won.” Changbin announces smugly, counting the dollars in his hand slowly, as if he’s a banker at a betting table in Vegas, collecting his hard earned winnings.
Chan glances at you with helplessness in his gaze, and you shrug, leaning over to snag one of Hyunjin’s cheetos.
“Sorry, dude. Welcome to the pack.” Jisung cackles suddenly from his spot beside the refrigerator.
“God, Minho-hyung’s gonna be pissed when he finds out. He was really gunning for spit.”
“Oh my god.” Chan groans again, and you grin at him wickedly, raising an eyebrow as you stuff another hot cheeto past your lips.
“Like I said. Welcome to the pack, Christopher Bang. Enjoy your stay.”

LLMs for search: the good version
I sometimes see people make the following argument:
Google search sucks now. It gives you pages and pages of SEO garbage, and it opaquely/obtusely "interprets" your query text rather than just giving you what you asked for. Other search engines aren't dramatically better.
Therefore, web search is ripe for disruption. If something came along that didn't suck, Google's dominance could easily be broken.
Therefore, "New Bing" and the like -- LLM chatbots that summarize search results to you -- are the wave of the future.
(Am I straw manning, here? I remember reading something very close to this in a blog post that got passed around early this year, but I can't find it now.
In any case, many people -- including Google management -- now believe that New Bing is a threat to Google's dominance. I don't know why people really believe this, but "people aren't satisfied with Google" is clearly one of the factors.)
----
Step 3 is an obvious non sequitur.
LLM interfaces to existing search indices don't address any of the things people hate about Google.
They don't solve the problem of SEO garbage. When I ask questions to New Bing, I usually get a digested summary of a few articles from the top Bing results for a query, which are ... SEO garbage.
Only now, they've been garbled even further by the LLM. In their current form, these systems do not adequately explain the evidential relationships between their verbal summaries and the search results, and sometimes introduce errors along the way:
We find that responses from existing generative search engines are fluent and appear informative, but frequently contain unsupported statements and inaccurate citations: on average, a mere 51.5% of generated sentences are fully supported by citations and only 74.5% of citations support their associated sentence. We believe that these results are concerningly low for systems that may serve as a primary tool for information- seeking users, especially given their facade of trustworthiness. [The average is over 4 different products. For Bing specifically, the numbers are 59% and 90% respectively. -nost] (source)
Do they address the problem of "interpreting the query"? Yes and no.
They add a new layer of interpretation: (natural-language question) is interpreted to compose (search query) is interpreted to produce (search results).
Ideally, you'd drop the interpretation in the latter step, making the pure search part more like old Google. And then, hopefully, the first step is "smarter" and less obtuse than what exists in Google now, because it uses a powerful LLM.
That's the ideal case -- I don't know if Bing actually does this, and if not, they're doing something worse.
And even in the ideal case, this just seems kind of . . . silly? The LLM is being used as a "compiler" to convert natural-language questions into search queries for "old, more-literalistic Google" or an equivalent.
But people happily used "old Google" without any assistance, for many years -- and by "people" I don't just mean tech people, I mean everyone! "Google it" became a household term long before Google search started doing the level of aggressive interpretation it does today. It was fine! In fact, people want it back!
The "ideal case" above presumes you can construct something like "old Google" for the LLM to issue queries to. But if you can do that, you've already solved the problem! The chatbot can be discarded, it's not adding anything.
Likewise for SEO spam. How could you stop Bing from just summarizing SEO spam? Well, you could either
Let it talk to a search index that's not dominated by spam
Give it some LLM-based SEO-filtering capability so it can skip the spam results
But again, if you've achieved either of these things, you've already solved the problem. At this point, adding the chatbot doesn't make it any more solved.
----
On the other hand, you could totally use LLMs to address the SEO problem, couldn't you?
Like, SEO garbage is easy to distinguish from other kinds of web pages. I'm sure modern LLMs could do a near-perfect job at sifting the two apart.
(Indeed, you don't even need a modern LLM. Much weaker ML models could probably do the job. But everyone wants to do stuff with LLMs now, so fine, let's go with that.)
So, why not just ... use this as a filter on top of search? That is,
Issue the search.
Behind the scenes, fetch the top N pages for some N, and send them (or a substring of each one) to a model, asking it to judge whether it's spam or not. The exact definition of "spam" for this purpose could be refined to taste.
Show the user a results page containing only the results the model said were OK.
(Or, better, include the bad ones behind some "...X results have been hidden..." UI element you have to click, like on twitter with replies. Or whatever. Many possibilities.)
You don't have to wait for Google or MS to do this themselves. Couldn't you do this as a browser extension or something? Is there a reason this wouldn't work?
(It would cost some money to run, but if it really worked, it seems plausible that people would value it at some price above operating costs. Or, not obviously implausible.
It would be slow, which could easily be a dealbreaker.)
Now, obviously, if this got really popular, then SEO would start adapting to it.
But that isn't a reason to dismiss the idea.
First, this would only happen if the tool got really popular, and it wouldn't be instantaneous or perfect. SEO companies are companies, with procedures and ingrained habits, and they're already trying hard to adapt to changes in the indexes themselves. Adapting simultaneously to this new threat would not necessarily be easy.
Second, this tool has an SEO-fighting advantage that the search companies don't. The search companies have to index and rank everything, and serve results to everyone at once, with all the work/costs imposed on the server and not the client. That might mean accepting lower-quality heuristics for the sake of volume.
But this tool just has to process a shorter list of results, once per query. (Even better, perhaps the results could be centrally cached and re-used across users/queries when available.) As long as Google is good enough that there's some useful items in the top N hits, for some not-too-large N, you can piggy-back on top of the work Google has already done, and solve a much smaller problem. And you can do the work at runtime, on the client / on OpenAI.
And with LLMs providing the "heuristics," SEO adaptation is not so easy. Like I said, we all know SEO garbage when we see it -- and LLMs are very good at mimicking human snap judgments like this, in a way that is stable across changes in surface-level features.
Re-jiggering the style and format of the SEO content won't trick the LLMs, for the same reason it wouldn't satisfy us. In the ideal case, the only way to trick the LLMs would be to actually increase the quality of the content, in which case, problem solved!
I don't have the skills to make this, but I'm sure someone does.
