How ICT affects my daily life
Today I want to share to you about how ICT affects my life. But before everything else let’s define first what ICT is.
ICT stands for Information and Communication Technology. These are technologies that provide access to information through telecommunications. So basically it deals with the use of different communications such as mobile phones, computers, tablets, telephones or laptops. Any gadgets or technologies that can be used to transmit, save, or gather information.
Now, let’s talk about how it affects my life.
Every single day, my life has become dependent on ICT. The moment I wake up in the morning there’s my phone beside me, ringing informing that I have to wake up. Before I leave the house, I had to check my messenger if there’s any sudden announcement at the GC. Upon arriving at school we are mandated to tap our ID’s at RFID to inform our parents that we safely arrived at school, also to monitor what time we went inside. As the class goes on, there’s an instances wherein I encounter unfamiliar words while reading, so I have to browse it on Merriam Online Dictionary to check. After the class we also have to tap our ID’s again to inform our parents that we had left the school at that time. If I ever go home late, I should inform my parents to keep them updated.
As I arrive at home, I still use an ICT to communicate with my boyfriend. Of course we have to update each other and keep in touch even if we’re miles away. Since we are already in the 21st Century, the way we do a research is through online. I’m using my laptop every time I have something to look for in the internet. ICT is very useful when it comes to school works. It is very convenient and time saving.  I use it in researching for the upcoming lessons. Especially on Chemistry and Physics. Of course as a student, I shouldnt just rely on our teachers during discussion. I also have to do my own research and to study in advance. For chemistry, I usually watch on youtube because I find it easy to understand. There are lots of videos there that discuss every lesson in an easiest way. Most of our lessons in Chemistry are really C-O-M-P-L-I-C-A-T-E-D. And I usually stay up late in night just to finish reading and comprehending a certain topic. Aside from chemistry, there’s PHYSICS!!! TBH physics is not and never an easy subject, just like math it involves complicated problems that needs to be solved in a complicated way.And I also watch youtube tutorial on solving in physics.
At facebook, I followed some medical pages that post medical stuffs which makes me entertained. It will greatly help me prepare for my college. I also followed some random pages that constantly post a funny memes aside from the fact that it is entertaining it also makes me laugh and forget my problems for a short period of time.
Whenever we have a group works, projects and reports on school we usually communicate and discuss it on messenger. It is very convenient because we can brainstorm and share ideas whenever we are. And if we have a meet ups with my friend, I can just capture the surrounding place and send it to them or I can tell them where I am so they can be informed where the exact spot I’m standing at.
Even though there are lots of school works I also want to wind up a bit. ICT is a good source for entertainment. I usually play mobile legends with CJ or with my classmates.  But sometimes we end up getting defeated so instead of enjoying the game I would feel mad and stressed because of noob or AFK members Since we only have classes 3 days per week, my classmates and I use play at Mineski every time we have no classes.
Aside from playing, I also love watching videos on YouTube. Sometimes I watch a gameplay, funny videos collection, animal videos, cooking show, music videos. One thing I love watching the most is the piano covers of Rosseau, aside from watching how complicated those notes are, it also relaxes me.
If you observe well, you’ll notice that I only wrote the positive ways about how ICT affects me. For the negative ways:
I usually stay up late at night, I think that’s the reason why my face has been bombarded by a pimples. I spend my time playing Mobile legends until 2 in the morning.
Every time I got a free time, I’m always on facebook for a long period of time that I forget what I should do and end up accomplishing nothing.
And I watch gameplays on youtube, same with the facebook. I always fail to notice the time being consumed.
I’ve been doing that unhealthy thing for how many years, and I just realized recently that using too much gadgets can greatly affect my health physically, mentally and in cognitive. And I can testify that, because instead of reading something worthwhile I was being eaten up by the social media. So as of now I’m still on the process of disciplining myself. I always turn off my wifi at my phone so I can refrain from clicking any social media apps and before I went in to the bedroom I make sure I turn off the wifi.
Look how easy it is to access everything that we need. Everything is just one click away. Sometimes I think, what if ICT and internet has never been invented until now. It will probably take 5 days or 2 weeks before a letter can finally arrive and can be received. Imagine that situation in our generation. Especially for those people who are working in abroad. They have to endure their home sickness while waiting for their letters. It is really hard. It really do requires a massive amount of patience.
Before I end this, I just want to leave some points to ponder.
The wide usage of ICT has been transmitted all over the world. And social media platforms are often to be use these days wherein in fact, most of us subconsciously abuses our freedom of speech that we almost forgot that we already crossed someone’s boundaries. The fact that destructive criticisms are more likely to be use rather than constructive criticisms. The way we talk online proves what kind of people we are and how we think. Folks, we should consider the proper usage of words and always remember that never post a statement with brashness. Because we always held a liability in whatever we do. BE RESPONSIBLE ONLINE.
Anyway, this is getting long. Thank you for staying up to this point. ^_^ I hope I was able to deliver what I wanted and needed to say. And BTW, this blog is intended only for school purposes. Thank you so much and have a nice day!

What a daily/ask blog needs
I’ve been in the ask blog communtiy for a sUUPER long time. like idk 4/5 years? So I feel like I can pass some knowledge onto you guys.  Gosh this got so long, there’s only 4 chapters but it’s picture/text heavy;;
Index:
1. A readable blog. 2.A basic theme. 3.Turn on your ask button. 4. General advise
1. A readable blog.
by Readable I mean things like colors and text size! What’s good for you just might not be good enough for someone to comprehend whats being said on your blog.
Pick A good text size. something around 20 px that people can read! It’s been known to give people headaches if they have to read something super small, and not everyone can zoom in to read your blogs!
When choosing text colors PLEASE consider if the background color and the background color clash.
Example, which one do you prefer to read? which one is easier on your eyes?
Tumblr media
Alright, and which one now?
Tumblr media
You see the one where the color values of the background and the text are very similar it becomes harder and harder to see.
Tumblr media
see?   Choose your colors wisely. Get some feedback from a friend if colors aren’t your thing.
2. A basic theme.
this topic isn’t very mobile friendly. Sorry Mobile users! You’ll have to go get a desktop computer for this!
Who doesn’t love nice themes? Themes are great! They help you change up your blog the way you want it (restrictions can be applied, but nothing is impossible if you know some CSS!) There are theme hunter blogs so you don’t have to use tumblr recommended shit themes.
Redux is a simple theme made by tumblr (probably the only good one they did in my own personal opinion), with a HECK ton of edits made from it.  Redux is like a less baby safe version of the default theme we get.
and I’ll show you how to do basic stuff this chapter, so I’ll convert my dead as heck inspo blog into an example for you guys!
Tumblr media
Boring huh. Lets spice this sucker up.
Let’s add some pages!
Click the edit theme button in your top right.
Tumblr media
and if your visiting your for summer vacation and they live in the middle of nowhere you also may be stuck with this loading time.
Tumblr media
Here we go! Now you see the side bar is scrollable, and you can change stuff there, like text (remember to use readable fonts, young blogger), the title, description, but where are the pages?? Scroll down!
Tumblr media
Ah hah! Click the +Add a Page.
Tumblr media
There we go bloggers! A fresh page to do stuff with!! But what do we do- well hold on, I feel like I need to explain to you how some of these buttons work!
Tumblr media
General text buttons
B: Bold I: Italics s: strike through
Important buttons:
<HTML>
This changes everything to code! if you want to get dirty with the coding that is.
Tumblr media
These is your link buttons. You highlight the word/picture in the text box you want to link to another page, and you click the 8 button! You’ll get something like this!
Tumblr media
And now you can shove that URL into that word and make it a clickable word! But on no you only wanted one part of that work to have a URL what do you do?? Highlight the part of the word you didn’t want clickable and click the 8!!
Thats great and all but how do I get the links to show on my main page?
Tumblr media
Now click update preview and click press save! and check out your blog!
Tumblr media
Neat huh! Now you can make TONS of pages!! (just don’t clutter your blog up with them!)
The recommended pages you make for an askblog should be a :
Reference Page Ask Tips Page About The Blog Page FAQ/Rules Page Relationships Page!
3. Turn your askbutton on.
I know I know everyone knows about the ask button, who doesn’t!
Some people don’t! and totally forget.
You can find your ask button under your settings page button
Tumblr media
Click that! now what we’re interested in is your blogs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And with that, Asks are now available on your blog!! You can change the title in the settings page, but that’s it.
If you really want to go crazy with the customizing, you’ll have to the the code for your askbox, post it in the HTML of a new page, and have fun!
4. General advise
General advise?
sure!
Blogging
Don’t reblog/post things not relevant to your blog. If it has stuff to do with you, the mod, sURE! like “I’m in the final week school grind” “getting kicked out need commissions please” or “Nan died need time off” or something, sure!
But don’t turn your blog into one of those reblog blogs that reblogs funny gifs or conspiracy theories about Full Metal Alchemist. If you need to do that, make a personal blog where you CAN reblog those! because I know if I see people reblogging irrelevant long posts, I unfollow. It clutters my dash from seeing things I want to see!!
Research
Research is your friend. Do research. absorb the knowledge. If your character’s second language is English, learn how people with their second language being English talk!!
“Moi name iz Izzabelle, thiz baguette is, as you say, magnifique!!”
This is a bad bad thing. Don’t do the above. I’ve been guilty of the above. (not calling anyone out, my best friend whose french is called Isabelle)
As someone with a LOT of a friends who use English as a second/third language, they don’t do this at all. They do their best to clearly communicate, sometimes things are muddled and aren’t quite right and their English may not make sense. it’s not perfect English with flares of french through out the sentence.
I know the appeal to get across that accent may be irresistible.  We want to have some sort of exotic flare to a character, but please understand that actual people don’t speak like that.
Make sure your character is comprehendable and you’re not alienating your audience.
E.G “ G-G-G-go-gosh g-g-g-go-go-goll-golly m-m-m-mi-miss mo-m-m-mo-molly I-I-I th-th-thin-think we-we’re l-l-l-lo-lo-lost.”
the above is hard to read. Instead try the below.
Peevis was scared, his voice shook and every word was laced with fear. “Gosh golly Miss Molly, I think we’re lost.” Peevis stuttered to his companion.
Easier to read!
Roleplay etiquette
Talk to your RP partner. Don’t control their character without their approval. TALK TO YOUR RP PARTNER... Ask them what they’re ok and not ok with! (punching their character, kissing their character, ect.)
TALK TO YOUR ROLEPLAY PARTNER
Don’t jump into a dedicated rp without asking the mods roleplaying. this could be considered rude!  Anything not serious and meme like, sure! Know the mod’s boundaries though.
Example of what not to do:
I answered an ask years ago, and when I woke up I found the post had over 70 notes and I felt great! then I realized it’s from the same four people reblogging my post roleplaying on it and controlling my character without my permission. this is real btw it actually happened to me.
what you should do:
start your own thread. keep it trimmed for your followers or start a new post to keep the dashboards clean incase you don’t have xkit.
if anyone has any questions, hit me up and I’ll add them to this!

Why Palm in 20XX?
I’ve gotten this question several times over the years so let me explain.
And you can skip to the last two paragraphs if you want the “too long; didn’t read” edition
First off, I have been using Handhelds, PDAs and “smartphones”, since about 1999. I am only 25 as of Jan 2017, Generation Y [Not neccesarily a Millenial]. Many would be quick to say that I am no different from Generation Z or other Millenials in that I have grown up surrounded by technology and the Internet. I disagree with that sentiment on a couple grounds. Firstly, although I grew up in and around technology and networking, I never was beholden to it. Unlike most Millenials I spent most of my time playing outside, watching some TV and doing chores.
What does this have to do with my mobile OS of choice? Well keep in mind that I used a handheld just like it should since i had a lack of a full desktop PC or money to buy things like video games. I used my Palm IIIe for everything. I had simple games, a scientific calculator, a tiny drawing app for notes, to do lists, a calendar, alarms and I knew I could get more if I managed my available space on my PDA (it had 2mb of RAM and that’s it)
Take someone born after the year 2000, by the time they were 10 (as I was in 2002) all they knew was iPhones, Android, WebOS and maybe Blackberry. Any who are born after 2010 will only know much more powerful items by the time they are 10.
Back to my 2 mb of RAM, I learned very early on to conserve digital space, anyone why used old 80′s computers might tell you something similar. Programs only took up KiloBytes back then. These days Facebook takes up to 150 Megabytes of space. Well anyhow, I later got an upgraded PDA, it was a Handspring Visor Deluxe, it had 4 times as much space plus it added an extra slot for extra hardware. (kind of like the LG G5) I was rollin with 8mb of space plus if I had the funds.
Jump forwards to 8th grade. The year is 2006, every kid has an MP3 player and a flip phone of some sort. Kids with less only had CD players, a brick phone or nothing. I was 1 of the few who had a PDA in school. I had the games, the specialized calculators to help me in math class, the schedule digitized and most of the things phone do these days. Video player, MP3 player, pictures, games, emulators you name it. I, technologically, was the envy of many. That kind of power and ability in the palm of your hand was just not accessible as it is today.
The school year is 2007-2008, as a sophomore in HS I was seeing the beginnings of the modern era. All had phones, there wasn’t a single person that was without a cell signal. Still pre “smartphone” Some phones are Moto Razr influenced, some are MP3-centric like the LG Chocolate, some were born for text and IM with full physical keyboards. I had the LG VX9400, a candybar style phone with a flip-up display meant for Verizon’s mobile TV streaming service. Before that was a Motorola V710. There were some with Treos for the nice keyboard, some with Windows Mobile and some with blackberry for the same reason. A full keyboard was pretty in if you did a lot of text messaging.
Even in 2008, seeing an iPhone was just non existent on many high school campuses, especially the small town one I went to. The original iPhone was not too good though, not to a high schooler. Camera was no different to any other flip phone, there was no dedicated IM application, no apps for it all in fact, just the original core apps were all you got. People forget that the App Store did not exist in the first iPhone OS. All it was to me was a cool new touch screen technology, good web browser and iTunes syncing. And that was quite enough for a businessman and the Apple fanatic but really that was it.
My first impressions of Both iPhone OS (soon to be renamed to iOS) and Android was that they looked pretty modern compared to Windows Mobile and Palm but Hilariously enough, Palm and Windows Mobile had all the Apps. So I stayed. I already had certain tendencies ingrained in me; First, I always did my web surfing at home on a real computer even though my phone, my Palm, my PSP and even NDS was technically up to the task of a simple look up on information. Second, I was used to converting movies to highly specific formats for the PSP (Thanks for that Sony btw) so getting video on my Palm was nothing to me and still isn’t. Third, I plain had already bought software for it, kids these days don’t know what expensive means for mobile software. Fourth, there were plenty of games that I liked that ended up never coming over to the major OSs of today, plus I like real buttons to play games. 5th and lastly, this might sound strange to quite a lot of people, but screen real estate is just plain better on Palm and Windows Mobile because of and not in spite of their resistive screen. I’ll make a separate post about that soon.
Here we are, the year 2017. How can it possibly be any good in 2017 some ask. Well, what would I normally need to do on a smartphone? Maybe edit some documents, look at some pictures, watch a movie or two, listen to some music whist driving and maybe play some games. On occasion I may just look at the Night Sky Pro app I got a while ago. I might need to know the tip for a bill, or slip the bill. I might need to access a good calculator. I know I’ll have a doodling application no matter what. I’ll also have some small tweaks to Android like PowerLine, a different app launcher and mess with the color scheming. I also like to set the screen forcibly to landscape sometimes if I need to get to the homescreen for something while watching a video. I’ll need the Bible on Sundays and a note app for that. Got my calendar synced with Google so it’s on my computer. I might use Opera to check something because I like Opera, it’s fast and small. Oh yes, I do need a to do list every so often.
So, Pretty good list of features, tweaks, general use apps and services that my Palm LifeDrive is perfectly able to accomplish. Too bad Palm never made a TX style smartphone because that would be my daily driver. Oh well, this has turned into quite the wall of text
